@Dark Cloud It depends on what you're looking for (and what you've already watched/enjoyed.) Give me a few things you've seen already. So I know your general tastes.

Dropping here to proselytize for Hikari no Ou. One ep out, but I'd say there's been nothing quite like it for at least the last year or so. Done by Studio MD too, who did Mars Red, which was a hella sublime adaptation of a stage play about vampires in the Showa era.

Anyways, Hikari no Ou is like, so fucking obscure that it's been a day since its out and no one's even uploaded its baller af OP onto Youtube and it also came up too late into the season to get previewed by ANN, so what can ya do. Take half an hour out of your life to check it out.

Also Vinland Saga S2 looks about as great as one would expect.

SAO in general is a bad show.

It isn't worth watching unless you care to watch mainstream stuff.

I don't know. I thought the first season was pretty fun, but yeah its nothing great. I think we are a little too hard on SAO at times in the anime community. It's average at worst, I feel.

I just think SAO is a terrible series. I don't have much of anything positive to say about it, although I will admit it has been awhile since I watched the show. I do think the GGO sections are just slightly better, however, but not by much.

Finally trying to clean out or rather watch all of my MAL back log. It's just like my Steam wish list; I don't remember adding half of this stuff.

I like being a completionist so it'll be awhile before I finish it all, though. And that's not counting all the related anime I'd need to watch that the MAL+ thing lists for me after finishing my current watch list.

Been watching The Eminence In Shadow and its delightful garbage. The jokes are genuinely funny and I'm glad I came across this shit.

I quite liked SOA, personally.

My first was DBZ, from what I can remember. I also remember watching Akira. Still a Dragonball fan to this day, though. XD

I have a very complicated relationship with One Piece where I haven't really enjoyed it as much as I did in the pre-timeskip days and the most recently finished arc was an absolute slog for me that I questioned if it was even worth it or if I was sunken costing it but then he puts out a banger chapter and I'm back in.

This season has so many examples of rushed and downright half-assed pieces of work. That I'm not surprised to see that several anime are getting delayed.

Really hope this isn't a trend for the whole year.

Isn't that every anime season, though?

I don't think it's been quite to this level of "we don't care" in a while. (Most rushed anime were simply delayed into oblivion. Even during Covid.) Now perfectly good (or serviceable) concepts are being completely ruined through it's terrible/non-animation. The last modern seasonal anime I can remember watching several episodes in a row that were filled with dozens of still images and concept art for simple dialogue scenes—was never. Because I've never seen something so lazy before...

But I guess I'm watching more anime/longer than I expected to. Though I don't know how many I'll see through to the end.

So I think the "first" Anime I watched was maybe Beyblade? That was still kind of Saturday kids stuff, but I knew what Anime was at that point. However, then there was the era when I got my first laptop and really started getting into some stuff, binging in my room, and the starter there was Prince of Tennis.

Then I got BIG into Hikaru No Go which remains my favourite subbed Anime - got a Go board and everything.
I checked out the dub and couldn't stand it. xD

It's the reverse with Card Captors Sakura, however. I LOVED Card Captors (and I'm from Canada, so we got the less butchered airing of the dub). Way into that. Years later I checked out CCS and just, egh....I couldn't have gotten into that one. I'm totally bummed that by the time Clear Card came out, they went to being more direct with the dub -- Don't get me wrong, I support them preserving the OG content, just Card Captors was such it's own thing, it feels like that audience is left behind now. However, based on what I understand of Clear Card, not sure they could've quite "Card Captored it".

Most recent Anime I got into -and remain keen for the second season- is "Stars Align". Dubbed - it's a well done one in my opinion.

OH wait- ^that's a lie --that's most recent in terms of airdate, but most recent in terms of what I watched was the X-Men Anime. Rather compelling take. I impulse bought the DVD.

TBH, I need to get around to watching that sometime.

I tend to miss out on Japanese adaptions of western media, like the PPG anime. Flies completely under the radar until I surprise myself and go "wait, this actually exists?" Most surprising I can think off the top of my head is that there is actually a Magic Tree House anime film. Never seen it myself, though, but I probably should given how big MTH was during my childhood.

I don't watch a lot of anime anymore, more of a manga person. But I did watch Bocchi the Rock recently and it was alright. There was clearly a lot of love put into it. Before that I watched Sarazanmai last year. Oh! And I did watch Ranking of Kings which I loved but felt the ending was really weird, brought an otherwise really good series down. Currently I'm rewatching the first two seasons of Mob before watching season 3 (but I did already read the manga).

As for manga, I read what I could find of Bucket List of the Dead ahead of the anime. I did the same with Jigokuraku when it's anime got announced. Also recently read The Summer Hikaru Died, and Fujimoto's two oneshots Look Back and Goodbye Eri.

I love seeing those. The Supernatural anime is close to my heart lmao. The Japanese cover of Wayward Son they use as the ending theme is very good.

DAI GUARD.

I remember watching this as a kid on some digital cable deal.

Whole gimmick was they were office workers who had to file paper work and deal with office dynamics/bureaucracy before they were allowed to use the giant woowoo mech to kill aliens.

My first and favorite anime was Yu Yu Hakusho. I grew up with the Funimation dub. I tried to watch the 2 movies but I couldn't stand the first English dubbed VAs.
