@Estylwen This took me longer than it should have! @ ___@;;;;;;
Name: Thierry Claude de Villiers Age: 39 Gender: cis male Appearance: Short dark brown hair, suspicious brown eyes, 5'11", average active fit, 190lbs, clean-cut
Augmentation: N/A Has no desire for this.
Personality: Overly cautious through years of experience. In his youth, he was foolhardy. His rash behavior is what caused him to fall and bust his left knee during a mission at The Temple of Karnak. Now he believes that patience really is a virtue and potentially life saving, but his temper still peaks depending on the situation. Despite having a temper, he's very empathetic and affectionate. His devotion and passionate nature will land him a new marriage towards someone many dismiss for abrasively callous at first glance... in about 4 years.
Defining Trait: Diligent
Backstory: Started working for The Louvre straight out of High School, originally as a Tour Guide for the museum. Once he graduated college, he went from standard Tour Guide, to Louvre Field Archeologist. Once he busted his left knee during a Temple of Karnak run, The Louvre made room for him as a Field Director. Field Directors were still archeologists, but instead of going out on the field themselves, they send various Louvre agents on runs instead. He's one of only a handful of Field Directors who has actually served The Louvre as an agent himself- making him a much needed link.
While his work ethic is amazing, spectacular even, his home life is chaotic. Not because he doesn't love his three children, because he does very much, but because he fails at time management. Thierry can easily spend long hours lost in his study reading about such and such civilization. He's often trying to transcribe the various crude doodles that have been found on ancient walls. If he's not doing that, he'll be distributing field work to various Louvre agents- or reading an agent's work notes.
He's currently in the midst of falling out of love with wife, Sabrina, if he ever was truly in love with her. Despite this, he's still grasping for threads to hang on to. Love of his life or not, she still is the mother of two of his children and a very loving adoptive mother to his eldest daughter. So loveless marriage or not, he's willing to try to make it work for his children's sake.
Long before acquiring his office job, Thierry has earned the nickname, Monsieur, for certain fashion choices he's made out on the field. While most men would rather wear tactical military grade gear, Thierry is often seen sporting a three piece suit... A true classy Frenchman. Unlike Sabrina who was born into money, Thierry comes from a modest middle class family.
Skills: Linguistics, MMA, weaponry
Inventory: Utility Watch made from a Pequignet wrist watch: ROYALE SAPHIR PHANTOM. It holds 20 individual physical objects, but has byte size and physical size limitation. Meant for smaller usage items ex: guns, ammo, rations and temp storage for artifacts.
Name: Nicholas James Bergman Age: 16 Gender: cis male Appearance: Dirty blonde, bright blue eyes, heart shaped face, Caucasian, 5'6", 110lbs, small build, active slim
Augmentation: N/A
Personality: Nick is a junkyard dog at first glance and most people don't bother looking beyond that first chance. Piss him off? He'll happily hand you your ass for free. While he might come off as nothing more than a cantankerous little shit, he's actually a deep well of lovingly charismatic emotion. He's terrified of losing others, so he chooses to push people away rather than lose out on a good thing. Nothing in this life lasts forever and so he'd rather not have it. Where others fail, he thrives in solitude.
Defining Trait: bitter
Backstory: Was a mamma's boy through and through, even now that his mother has since passed away from Breast Cancer, he still wears her cherished cameo locket. His father died in a car crash, on their way to go see mom in the hospital. His mother eventually remarried, but died three years later. Nick hates his stepfather with a fiery passion- and likewise. To this day he's convinced that the man only wanted the insurance money. Money that he, nor his little brother, Aaron, ever saw.
Years of fighting with his stepfather, school authority figures, and everybody else for that matter, Nick's found himself in and out of homes and juvenile detention centers across the country. After making some significant behavioral changes in regular therapy sessions after his diagnosis of Oppositional Defiance Disorder, a judge granted him one last chance at attending school.
With his grades up, or at least at passing level, a certain type of fate happened during an otherwise routine field trip to Egypt. It started off as a simple desire to escape noisy peers and examine the hieroglyphs, but Nick soon found himself firing a shotgun at reluctantly dead mummies. That was a year ago. He's since managed to become a person of interest for The Louvre, or rather... a pain in the ass for Thierry, through the help of an Egyptian Field Agent, Ramses Saamir Andrew. Aaron is still living with their Uncle in Maine, and has no idea Nick is MIA from his boarding school.
Skills: street fighting, and endurance training
Inventory: N/A or whatever he gets his hands on through theft
I was expecting armed robbery or worse... wanting to work for The Smithsonian Institute... X'DDD
I love that Theo is a momma's boy, but still seeks out Thierry too.
Lmao she probably would for shits and giggles, or just mention wanting to work there just to see a vein explode in his eyes.
And yeah I see Theodore as a guy who’s just confident, and doesn’t care if he gets teased for chilling with his sisters, or clubbing with Aurélie, or having lunch with his mama. And so he doesnt get teased at all. Prodigy child.
@Days Nick will be a side/secondary character only... but like, a work related "I can't believe I have to deal with this shit" one. I figured I'd go ahead and give a cs all the same.
edit edit again D< Nick does not currently work for The Louvre, or any other museum at the moment.
Pffffffffft one more (hopefully last) thing I forgot to mention... The only real way to avoid Nick completely is to go further back in the timeline than we did. I'm not against going way further, if you guys want to. T oT;
And the love part, I think he's more in love with his work.
@WhiteAngel25 And I think the main reason why Thierry is so infatuated with Nick is his work ethic. He doesn't have to explain to Nick where he was on such and such day/holiday/birthday because Nick has been just as absent, if not more due to his behavioral issues.
That and the sort of fatherly aspect to the relationship that it started out as. I know, it's sad that he craves being a father of his children, but feels his children don't need him like that anymore. So it's kinda like he's making up for lost time, but in the worst way possible.
In reality, I don't think Thierry is truly in love with Nick either, but he is in love with the idea of being in love and taking care of somebody. Oh... and midlife crisis relationships are fun to write and read!
...
Honstly? Dude should probably just get a dog instead. `>3>
The fact that the children would obviously really feel this loveless marriage, even if their parents don't think it. I think in the DB timeline, Theo and Aurélie's opinions would've shifted, too. As in, Theo would be increasingly unsure but still tryna please his father and get his love, and Aurélie would probably shy away even more.
And I imagine Theo, in particular, would have animosity towards Nick in the process. (In DB at least) Kinda like he feels that he wasn't good enough for Thierry then replaced.
I don't think Nick would hate Theo for this, but would definitely be jealous and desire to keep Thierry around to the best of his ability.

Oh a 100%. Theo is Thierry's only son, and basically the same age as Nick, yet would feel incredibly replaced. Especially if all Theo did in his younger years was trying to get in his father's attention by for example asking about his work, be curious about his work, wanting to be involved in his work etc, only for him to turn around and have those convo's about about work etc with Nick.
Aurélie is too protective over both of her siblings to let it slide, most likely.
@Days I think what it boils down to is that he desperately wants to protect Theo from the terrible aspects of working for The Louvre. Yet with Nick, he was involved with being on the field from the beginning. So since there's things like assassination involved with working for a society like The Louvre, he absolutely hides things from Theo, but not so much Nick.
I am curious about Aurélie's initial opinion of Nick and then how it evolves over time!
Oh and I can only imagine how Sabrina feels! One about not only being replaced by a man, from her supposedly straight ex-husband, and to the fact that he's younger than her only son with him.
@Lexisheeps With all Sabrina has gone through with the whole 'child of family fortune' situation. She's more understanding than one would imagine. Does she like the fact that her husband left her for a younger man? No. But she knows that their children are giving him enough hell at the moment.
Does she like Nick? Debatable. She sees what Thierry is trying to do and I'm sure she'll bring it up, but she also sees that Nick is a kid who needs someone, might as well be Thierry.
I could also see her observing Thierry struggling with Nick's mood swings and since she's already gone through that with Theo. A random package of Nick's favorite food on the kitchen counter and gift cards to his favorite places in his mailbox. Nick and Sabrina definitely have a love/hate relationship, but it's more maternal. She's already raised three kids, what's two more? (Nick and Aaron)
Sabrina really is amazing, despite her also having busy work ethic. Probably why Theo is a momma’s boy, but always searching for validation from his dad and never get it. He gets love from his dad, as Thierry obv loves him, but Yheo’s just missing that pride, probably
Aurélie just is mostly pissed because of Theo and Cosette dealing with their dad, and she feels responsible for then. Ver excited to have this all play out both in the past and in DB
I love the idea that this woman is willing to send Nick gift cards. Idk if he'd use them right away, mostly out of defiance, but he might just hang on to them anyways. x'D
And as far as Nick's mood swings are concerned, Thierry's definitely struggled. It's kinda like if Nick was a stray cat that meowed at you at you like it wanted petpets only to hiss, bite, or run once you got close enough.
Sabrina doesn't have to worry about Aaron. Aaron is like the day to Nick's night.
Aaron has a stable home life with their uncle after their parent's death. Nick has always hated their uncle for a myriad of half-baked reasons. Their uncle is a Vietnam vet, but more importantly, a large-scale hoarder. Nick views him like a bit of a push over, but his uncle has still tried to get on Nick's good side all these years by taking very good care of Aaron. The minute their stepfather was going to send Aaron to a boarding school as well, their uncle stepped up and took him in. Even moved to Maine so Aaron could go stay in the same school.
Honestly, Aaron is the only one Nick's never completely feuded with... up until their uncle died. And that was because Nick flat out refused to go to his funeral. Like, he didn't even bother to make up some bullshit excuse, work related or otherwise.
@Days I'm honestly excited to play these characters out as well! Nick might be my oldest and most favorite, but Thierry has definitely grown on me over the years. So it's nice to finally flesh him out a bit.
