Despite quite frequently showing remarkable aptitude when his heart and mind are actually in the task at hand, or if he feels he has a point to prove, too frequently he displays little to no effort and is willing to try to coast by on the bare minimum. He has shown to be needed to be pushed in virtually every endeavour, he’s overly critical of everyone involved and present, and even the activity itself. Then upon completion will often either brag about his success or diminish the exercise as not having been worthwhile in the first place. Or often both. Which makes his successes even more frustrating. If Banjo knows the names of more than a dozen of his fellow Housemates, he has not yet displayed this knowledge. Despite having been here four years. Confusingly, he is not unwilling to clean or participate in rudimentary day to day maintenance or repair, or lending assistance in basic day to day things for his fellow Housemates or even members of neighbouring House Ursus. Yet, for some reason has virtually no House spirit, competitive drive or value in the notion of House points whatsoever. Drawing attention to this generally results in dismissive laughter at best, a barrage of ridicule at worst. I am unsure how much hope House Strigidae can be expected to have for him to prove himself a quality upstanding member of its number, let alone hopes for demonstrating any leadership ability in his senior year. Written by 2027’s Captain of House Strigidae | C H A R A C T E R C O N C E P T C H A R A C T E R C O N C E P T Banjo was stuffed in an orphanage/care facility from before he could remember until he reached school age. He was then retrieved from this care facility at school age and relocated to a boarding school, by an intermediary he calls "The Butler" due to the man's dress and being provided with no other name. He was then moved around to different boarding schools within Australia - sometimes extremely lengthy trips across state lines - at various times, sometimes for questionable behaviour, and sometimes for seemingly no reason at all over the next ten years. Over these years he feels he doesn't have a set 'home', or a place which is his. He formed a friendship with a young boy named Mamili Motlop, at a school in Darwin, despite only knowing him for about two and a half semesters, and came to take on many of the Aboriginal views towards custodianship of country. He didn't own anywhere, this whole land felt like he belonged to it. On April 18th he was relocated one final time. A footlocker containing all of his worldly belongings was his luggage for an International flight to Vancouver, before the long drive up the Western Canadian coastline to Dundas Island, where he would receive more permanent schooling. The school his parents - whoever they were - had planned for years for him to attend. In his first year here, Banjo was seriously hospitalised after an altercation with the Hyperhuman terrorist, Hyperion, after speaking up and making a target of himself in front of the students in attendance. This briefly made him something of a school hero, despite his own thoughts and opinions on his actions, but the ensuing violence did little to break his resolve or outspoken personality. Much to the chagrin of the faculty. Now in his final year at P.R.C.U, is there anything else this place could teach him, and would he show any willingness to learn? D E T A I L E D A P P E A R A N C E & A E S T H E T I C D E T A I L E D A P P E A R A N C E & A E S T H E T I C When not using his hyperhuman powers he is a dishevelled looking lean, but average looking teenage caucasian male with sun-bleached, light brown hair and blue eyes. He wears his proper school uniform to the letter of the regulations, but in a rough, untidy state. He's also taken to adorning the uniform's dress peak cap in combination with the regular uniform before school hours and as soon as the clock ticks 1601 - because he's found it irritates certain members of the faculty. When using his power he appears as jet black, due to not reflecting any light as he is absorbing it at the time. He is surrounded by an aurora corona - the effect of surrounding light bending around his person to be absorbed. M A N N E R I S M S & P E R S O N A L I T Y M A N N E R I S M S & P E R S O N A L I T Y Sorely lacking stable consistent parental figures and because he was bounced around so much to different boarding schools irrespective of his behaviour, he's prone to misbehaving and pressing boundaries. He has a strong antiauthoritarian streak and enjoys little more than talking his way out of trouble - as such he's found comfort in law and is presently considering the legal profession in his higher education. Not opposed to provoking people just for provocation's sake. Will get himself into trouble purely because he enjoys seeing if he can extricate himself from it. Banjo gets bored easily and is a prankster, and yet might possibly the last human being you would want to ever get into a prank war (or have believe, he is in a prank war...) with. There are people in this world who have a clear understanding of social grace, and where the lines of public decorum lay... it is yet to be seen if Banjo actually has any understanding or recognition of any such lines. This coupled with an incredible creativity, when he puts his mind to something, as well as remarkable resourcefulness and determination when he puts a plan in place have seen him expelled from many, many, MANY schools. Banjo can be practically self-destructive in nature when it comes to defending or protecting others from what he sees as authoritative abuse of power. If he can't see any alternative way to "get people out", he will draw the ire and take the abuse himself, almost without thought. People who have viewed this in action have seen it as a form of heroism (facing up to Hyperion), he views it as just another way he's broken from his upbringing. Despite being outspoken there's a number of things he does and enjoys, which he doesn't talk about because of how he'll be viewed. Chalk it up to dumb machismo. Similarly, he's loathe to open up with most (Calliope being the solitary exception) about the worst aspects of his life, in part because of this dumb machismo, but also because he doesn't want to burden people with his problems, and due to his memories being tampered with doesn't exactly KNOW the full extent of his own past, as well as... again... dumb machismo. Due to his powerset he has no scars from anything he's endured over the years, and combined with his personality, its very easy for people on the outside-looking-in to think he's never gone through anything. Views pretty much anyone who would get into the teaching profession as having issues with power-hunger. Not limited to teaching, he views any and all who are in or would move into law enforcement much the same. Can be abrasive. Will be abrasive. By anyone's definition IS abrasive. But that's all part of the charm... |

The nature of his powers also means he has acute thermoception (can determine local temperature to a tenth of a degree) and tolerance to extreme heat and cold. When he uses his power, he turns completely black as ambient light is being absorbed and there is no reflected light, and appears to be surrounded by an aurora corona due to the effect of bending light around into himself. When using his power, local temperature and light will drop as he draws upon it, in proportion to how much energy he is drawing. L I M I T A T I O N S || His biggest limitation has been himself. Due to the intelligence gained from early use of his powers, he now sees great potential for things to go wrong in using or abusing those powers - to the extent where he believes he even has the capacity to cause the complete heat death of the planet, solar system and universe beyond. He is, of course, not anywhere near capable of this at this point. He merely fears his potential. Whilst his powers create new neural pathways, and clear and strengthen existing neural pathways, they do not bestow upon him any NEW knowledge or intelligence. They merely grant him the capacity for increased intelligence (and perhaps grant focus/allow him to think more clearly). Likewise, the way his powers affect his musculature are exponential working off his initial baseline strength... so in other words, he would not have to use his powers to absorb as much energy in order to lift a large object if he were well trained and fit, as he would if lazy and ignoring any kind of training regiment. He won't use his powers in close contact of others, and is even extremely loathe to use them indoors in general. W E A K N E S S E S || As well as his own fear of his powers he's been having recurring nightmares where he finds himself encased in a small, confined, vacuum-sealed space - acute claustrophoblia. At this point his power taps out at barely above a peak-level human (think Super Soldier Serum enhanced human ala Captain America) in terms of strength, speed, agility, stamina. He's potentially capable of exponentially more though, but again his unwillingness to take that plunge, and see the true depths of his capabilities, stands in his way. Use of his powers whilst in direct contact with another COULD potentially cause devastating harm and/or death, since he draws heat and light. This is not a baseless fear he has. So far he has never hurt anyone in this way, though. He's just terrified of it happening. Whilst intelligent and quick-witted, he's fairly young and in many ways still naive. While she spent the majority of her life growing up as a regular girl, the late revelation of her powers flipped her life upside down. Receiving little parental attention from her mother and father growing up, due to their busy political professions, she was one to always make her own engagements with others to make up for that. This lead her to grow up social and develop a lax personality that viewed most things as not-too-serious. However, when it was discovered that the mystery illness that she grew up with was no less than a symptom of her hyperhuman nature, she couldn't just brush off what followed. Some could say she was fortunate, having her powers only discovered at the age of no less than 18 - but the betrayal of her parents felt all the more dreadful. Sure, it took them over a year to decide to kick Pallyx to the curb, but during that time she endured too much emotional abuse to be left the same. After that point, Pallyx just managed to make ends meet through various.. less-than-legal business practices. She tried her best to continue her post-secondary schooling, and was barely able to keep it afloat. But it wasn't easy. She endured many transfers through different institutions, either due to various anti-hyperhuman policies, and maybe even a couple imagined transgressions that Pallyx's newfound paranoid psyche synthesized on its own.. but, eventually, she met with the opportunity to attend P.R.C.U. And she didn't let the opportunity go to waste. After a bit of time, her psyche shifted back towards a more stable position and she grew to really trust the institution over her first year of attendance. In fact, her education under the university took a very fortunate turn as it captured her aptitude for what subjects she really excelled at, like physics and literature, and managed to help her shore-up her weaker areas, like mathematics. As such, Pallyx is keen to brave her second and final year of education at P.R.C.U. D E T A I L E D A P P E A R A N C E & A E S T H E T I C D E T A I L E D A P P E A R A N C E & A E S T H E T I C Pallyx is most often distinguished from a crowd by her unusual paleness. Her stark ivory hair is styled in a rough, unkempt bobcut that frames a face most-often suffering from an unusual pallor. Despite this pallid appearance, she seems to otherwise be perfectly healthy. Her facial features are softly angular and lend her an expressive visage. In contrast to her otherwise bright attributes, her eyes are a dark steely-blue color, and her expressive brows are similarly dark. Across the rest of her body, there is nothing special to note. She stands at a regular 5'6" in height, with a slim physique. She does possess some musculature on an otherwise soft figure, most of which is focused in the thighs and biceps. When it comes to wardrobe, Pallyx isn't a picky customer. She will wear a vast array of different clothing for different purposes. Whether it's supposed to be cute, utilitarian, cool, or whatever else, she'll wear whatever she feels like on any particular day, if she's not in school uniform. She also doesn't subscribe to any particular color palette, welcoming vibrant clothes, dark clothes, and whatever in between. She is very fond of hats, though. M A N N E R I S M S & P E R S O N A L I T Y M A N N E R I S M S & P E R S O N A L I T Y Nonchalant, Adventurous, Sarcastic, Paranoid Pallyx is a tad divided in nature. On one hand, she grew up fun-loving, airy, and banter-y. She's never been one to recoil from a conversation offered, and has never had much trouble with making others or herself laugh, or with making friends. Overall as a person, she's lighthearted and receptive. But part of her is not so laid-back. While she's never been stranger to tossing some concerns to the wind, events of recent years - with the discovery of her hyperhuman powers especially - have triggered something in her brain. She's developed a more paranoid side that just wont let some things go. She's reaped a few small quirks, like trying to avoid classical "bad luck" gestures or opening packages she receives in the mail with a welding mask on, and cant help but obsess over certain ideas - but she does all she can to hide her paranoia behind her usual cool-headed behavior. |
A B I L I T I E S, L I M I T A T I O N S, & W E A K N E S S E S A B I L I T I E S, L I M I T A T I O N S, & W E A K N E S S E S H Y P E R H U M A N A B I L I T Y || Hyper-hunger __PRIMARY CLASSIFICATION || Esoteric __SECONDARY CLASSIFICATION || Somatic __POWER SCALE || TBD __THREAT CLASSIFICATION || TBD Pallyx's hyperhuman ability is a mutation which alters her body in several ways - principal among them being her capacity to absorb HZEs from others. She accomplishes this absorption through touching a target - though its effects aren't entirely immediate. While her initial touch is enough to make using one's powers more of an effort, the longer she stays in contact with a target the more HZEs she drains from them - eventually rendering them unable to use their hyperhuman abilities until their HZEs regenerate. Absorbing the HZEs of others serves two purposes, though; the first is obviously that they will have their powers disrupted, and the second being that Pallyx uses said HZEs to invigorate her own physicality and healing factor. Initially, said healing factor is functionally nonexistent - but grows in potency as she absorbs more HZEs. Sapping an opponent or two for a prolonged enough time can even render her healing factor potent enough to heal otherwise fatal wounds. The enhancement of her physicality is best described as a simple buff to her physical attributes - eventually lending her strength much more explosive than what her appearance might let on, and letting her move faster, too, as a result. Aside from the combat-effective mutations of her body, she also has some other small mutations. Behaviorally, Pallyx seems to be endlessly hungry, and only grows more ravenous with the use of her power. When at her resting state - that being having absorbed no extra HZEs from anybody else, which is most of the time - she develops a worrying paleness of the face and a sickly cough; features which seem to be impervious to conventional or supernatural medicines. Her other physical mutations include obviously pronounced canines, a significantly elongated tongue, as well as excessive production of saliva. When she sleeps she drools. It's kinda icky. L I M I T A T I O N S || Touch, Range Touch is key when it comes to Pallyx's hyperhuman ability - although her absorbative power can manage to surpass regular clothing with ease, gearing oneself up in anything thicker than leather will render it hard for her to effectively absorb from you. Distance is also, obviously, her enemy. W E A K N E S S E S || Delayed power, Frenzy-prone Pallyx's hyperhuman ability, unlike many others, isn't at its most effective right off the bat. She has to maintain prolonged touch in order to absorb enough HZEs to disable someone's powers and bolster her own - and until she can do that, she's basically a normal girl. Additionally, Pallyx seems to take on some worrying behavioral changes when she absorbs a significant quantity of HZEs - a clear flaw in her mutation. The more she absorbs, the more brash, aggressive, and irritable she becomes. She can even manage to forget friend from foe. But in the end, the hunger that she endures renders it difficult for her to stop herself once she's started. P L O T ( S ) & G O A L ( S ) P L O T ( S ) & G O A L ( S ) Trying to decipher Pallyx's goal in life is like asking a dog what toy it wants to play with - it doesn't know, it just wants to have fun. She just plays whatever hand is dealt to her in life at any particular moment - spending little time on deciding what she wants to do in the future. If forced to confront what she might really want, well.. it might be as simple as some form of stability. She's never had a real family, or friends that got past the elbow. Maybe at some point, that'll change. She's performed her fair share of thefts, scams, and even shoved a police officer into a pond once. Anyways, she's pretty good at lying, can hotwire cars, and knows how to get closed things open, in one way or another. ◼ Sleight-of-hand || Pallyx is pretty good with her hands. Discreetly hiding or swapping objects with others, sneaking things away, or even seeming to make things vanish are all pretty easy things for her. T A L E N T S ▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔ ◼ Light-footed || Pallyx is naturally pretty stealthy. She can move quick, and she can do it quietly, too. She often uses this to scare her friends by sneaking up on them. BOO! ◼ Sharp || Pallyx is much sharper than her airy demeanor might let on. She has a perceptive eye and is a pretty quick thinker, all things said. It isn't often that she loses her cool, either. ◼ Party Tricks || Over the years, Pallyx has picked up a vast wealth of useless party tricks. Her favorites are drinking flaming booze, and various tricks she can do with her unnaturally long tongue. Some friend circles have even viewed her like a magician, in some lights. While she was initially not a huge fan of wearing a uniform, since she's one to thoroughly enjoy accessorizing, she has grown to kinda like it. It helps that she thinks she pulls the fit off pretty damn well - the militant style looks good on her. She'll also never complain about getting the opportunity to wear a beret, since she's prideful in her ability to shape one to her liking perfectly. I T E M ( S ) ▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔ ◼ Random garbage || Pallyx is a bit of a harpy when it comes to squirreling things away on her person. She seems to have an endless stash of useless artifacts on her person at all times - ranging from stuff like yoyos and cards to Chinese finger traps and trick coins. T O O L ( S ) ▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔ ◼ Multitool || Alongside all her useless crap, she carries a multitool that seemingly houses every instrument under the sun. It's got screwdrivers, corkscrews, various edges, a glass cutter, a laser pointer, and all manner of other things tucked away inside. The son of a police chief and a university professor. Now his father's focus was mainly on dealing with crimes that were connected to the drug cartels. A plague on the nation that got worse when Hyperhumans decided to join the cartels. Either way, this did not stop his father, and he tried his best to keep crime down. Now when Efraim discovered he was a Hyperhuman and his family soon discovered soon after. His parents decided on making it a secret and made Efraim and his older brother not tell anyone. For fear of what could happen to him if people knew. For while Efraim was a Hyperhuman and considered dangerous, his father was a pragmatic man who, unlike others, who would view their child with fear or disdain or a threat to his career. He simply just saw his son, who could be dangerous if nothing was done so, while Efraim was forbidden from using his powers outside the house. His father did encourage him to develop his powers in order to control them better. For three years, it was like this. Efraim practiced his powers in secret while his family continued on as normal. It was not until an incident after school when Efraim stopped a group of bullies from beating up a kid and accidentally used his power. Efraim was quickly reported to the police and became a known Hyperhuman, and was forced to wear an inhibitor. Discovering that the police chief's son was a Hyperhuman did cause a major backlash for his father when it hit the news. Many thought his father was hiding a Hyperhuman from the police, and ultimately. His father had to resign and take early retirement. While Efraim's father said should not have used his powers and was understandablely angry about losing his job, he did praise him for trying to protect someone. Efraim did not know what to say and could only feel thankful for his family being who they were. Efraim, now a known Hyperhuman, would chafe under his new life. During his last year in high school as he was mostly shunned by his teachers and classmates, but he did have a few friends, and his family supported him. Even then, seeing how people saw him in public now and the headaches caused by the inhibitor. He started to venture less and less outside and fell into a small depression. His family tried their best to get him out of it, and when Efraim was eighteen and still struggling. Did his father reach out to H.E.L.P. and arrange for Efraim for to go to P.R.C.U. A choice that Efraim agreed to and now awaits what the P.R.C.U. has to offer. D E T A I L E D A P P E A R A N C E & A E S T H E T I C D E T A I L E D A P P E A R A N C E & A E S T H E T I C - OPTIONAL Efraim tends not to stand out that much with his black hair and brown eyes. Being slightly average height and weight but having an above average build as he does work out from time to time. He wears his school uniform per regulations, but as soon as he is allowed to wear normal attire. He will and is not picky with what he wears. Generally, he likes to wear T-shirts, collared shirts, jeans and anything else that is considered casual clothing. Though he will wear warmer clothing given the climate of the island. Efraim, when using his powers, tries his best not to rip his clothing, but sometimes, especially when using his bone armor. His clothes will suffer in this case. M A N N E R I S M S & P E R S O N A L I T Y M A N N E R I S M S & P E R S O N A L I T Y - OPTIONAL Efraim can be described as a friendly and sociable person. Always willing to hang out with friends and family. Though at times, wanting to spend time alone with himself. Efraim is a loyal person who gains his trust and becomes his friend. Then he is there to help them no matter what but if this trust is broken then it can be hard to regain Efraim's trust. Partially due to his father being an officer and later the police chief of his hometown. Efraim is a brave person who, when something is going down, is not one to stay on the sidelines and do nothing. Though he is sometimes reckless about it and he knows this and tries to think first before going in the fray. Mainly after accidentally exposing himself as a Hyperhuman and causing his father's early retirement. Still this does not stop him from helping friends or those in danger. Plus, he will stand up for himself and others if needed. Even helping strangers if needed. Along with wanting to do right by people and not want to harm the people he cares about, it weighs on him if it happens. Something he learned the hard way with his father, and he still feels guilty about it. Even after making peace with his father over it. Still, Efraim tries to be like his police chief father and try to do what is right. |

He is able to grow bones from his own skeleton and use them in a variety of ways. One way that he can is by making bone constructs, such as shaping bones to be shields, swords, and other things. Another way is by making bone armor which appears over his skin. Making his punches or kicks harder. One final way he can use his power is by forcing out bones from his hands and launching them to act as projectiles. Efraim can use his power both offensively and defensively. He is able to grow and shape bones in a quick manner to either keep up the pressure on an enemy or protect himself or someone from attacks. L I M I T A T I O N S || PERSONAL BONES, DETACHMENT, SET SHAPE Efraim can only manipulate his own bones from his skeleton. He was reluctant to try and manipulate other people's bones, but he had to see if he could, and he found he could not. So he has to rely on his own bones for attacks and defense. Also, once a bone detaches from his skeleton, he can no longer manipulate the bone. Even if he retouches it, it just becomes a static bone that he can not manipulate anymore. Also, once he shapes a bone into a shape, he can not reset it or change it further. W E A K N E S S E S || OVERUSE, JUST BONE While Efraim can grow and shape bones from his skeleton. He has a limit on how many bones he can grow, and he knows when it is close to his limit when it starts hurting to grow bones. A small pain when he nears his limit, but the more bones he grows, the more it hurts until he can not anymore due to the pain. Making him more likely to hurt himself and his skeleton due to the strain on his skeleton. While it can be strong, the bone he uses is just normal bone, so its durability and power are limited to the strength of natural bone. P L O T ( S ) & G O A L ( S ) P L O T ( S ) & G O A L ( S ) Efraim's goal is to be a policeman like his father or in a role like it. Fighting crime and maybe making a difference. Especially crimes caused by those Hyperhumans who use their powers for evil and make things worse for everyone. That has not changed and for the plots. Maybe something to do with his family? Like a relative becoming a known Hyperhuman and being sent to PRCU or maybe helping or mentoring a younger student who has some trouble or just helping a fellow student in general? To his public, he was the tough-as-nails senator that promised protection from the growing hyperhuman threat. Until this point, his family was seen as "perfect". Each member did their duty, ensuring they looked good whenever they were out, and abided by the rules set in place. Then Calliope's powers manifested. And the family that was rock solid suddenly experienced turmoil. Try as he might, Senator Garcia had to accept the fact his daughter was hyperhuman. Calliope was forced into hiding, told to lie about her powers and expected to maintain the air of perfection they worked so hard to maintain. Calliope couldn't handle the pressure and, in an unexpected turn, demonstrated her powers in public, lending to an outcry of Garcia's supporters to call for him to step down. Senator Garcia decided to do one better. PCRU, a school dedicated to helping Hyperhumans control their abilities, seemed right up his alley. So Calliope was sent off to school and told to get it together or be out of the family. Unbeknownst to him, Calliope had her own plans, and PCRU was the best place to do it. D E T A I L E D A P P E A R A N C E & A E S T H E T I C D E T A I L E D A P P E A R A N C E & A E S T H E T I C If Calliope's style could be summarized in one word it would be "Preppy". Calliope's regulation uniform us tidy and kempt and she usually wears her dirty blonde hair down or in a high ponytail. When not in her uniform, Calliope dresses in clothing arguably seen as fashionable. Not one to look out of place, she tends to dress 'girly'. Color preferences range greatly. Despite this, her clothes are usually clean and orderly, never a string or thread out of place. She will accentuate her attire with jewelry, mainly her earrings and a necklace. Her nails are not painted but are manicured and maintained thoroughly. Make-up is nothing more than foundation, eye liner, some light blush, and lip gloss. Though her normal attire is prim, she does have clothing that could be seen as "out there" and sometimes (albeit rarely) will 'let her hair down' and act out. Though that is very rarely seen by those she knows personally. M A N N E R I S M S & P E R S O N A L I T Y M A N N E R I S M S & P E R S O N A L I T Y Ice Queen in name and demeanor, Calliope tends to put a front when meeting new people. She can easily be seen as frigid or 'bitchy' by those who do not know her well enough. She does not open up easily to others, but once the ice has cracked, Calliope is a warm-hearted individual who cares a great deal for others, especially those who have been hurt. Calliope can be seen using humor and wit and is never without some strong remark against those who feel they can put others down. Calliope does not wear her heart on her sleeve and it can be tough to get a sense for how she is feeling, though the icy facade does break occasionally. |

This is done by using water molecules in the air around her, forming ice, and using it at her disposal. Calliope cannot generate ice from nowhere, however. Calliope can shape and form ice in various ways including ice shards, ice shields, ice walls, ice armor, etc. Calliope can use this both offensively and defensively. Calliope can maneuver ice almost telepathically, allowing her to move the ice formed at will. Calliope can apply freezing temperatures to objects and people, leading to potential ice damage and frostbite. Calliope, through her use of this power, does not get cold as easily as an average person, allowing her to withstand freezing temperatures. An extra bit of her power allows her to formulate snow. L I M I T A T I O N S || S U P P L Y As mentioned, Calliope cannot just generate ice from out of nowhere. To be able to form and use ice, Calliope requires there to be water molecules in the air or an actual source of water. This can limit her power use and prevent her from using her powers W E A K N E S S E S || H E A T Common knowledge dictates that the weakness of ice is fire. This is still true in Calliope's case. As her power requires there to be water molecules or actual water to be near, the hotter and more arid the environment is, the less likely she will be to form ice and control it. Fire melts ice and Calliope would not fair well against fire or any of its forms. She can essentially be rendered powerless in environments where there are no water molecules to be had. Her powers, especially her ability to withstand colder temperatures, makes Calliope extremely sensitive to heat. As such, in hotter temperatures, Calliope can feel weak and may eventually pass out if not provided a cooler environment. P L O T ( S ) & G O A L ( S ) P L O T ( S ) & G O A L ( S ) I would love to see her father involved in something, most likely bad, and would enjoy seeing their relationship expanded upon, especially as it is darker than what I put on the sheet. I would like to explore her family dynamics with her brother as well. Since she is interested in pursuing law as a career, perhaps something along those lines as well. One's body tends to give it away and Calliope, determined to be the best, has gained this insight, allowing her a leg up. ◼ I N V E S T I G A T I O N || Having studied the criminal justice procedure, Calliope is able to look for information. A loose piece of paper, a fingerprint, a discarded piece of trash. All can hold valuable information. This will be handy or her career as a lawyer, showing determination in finding all the necessary pieces of information to build a case. Calliope has panic attacks that typically manifest in extremely stressful situations that Calliope is not prepared for. She has been seeing a therapist, but her attacks still occur. Harper’s enhanced vision does not tire her eyes quickly, nor does it require additional energy to maintain. Her vision can be activated and deactivated at will, allowing her to switch between normal and enhanced modes seamlessly. This ability, combined with her exceptional archery skills, makes her a formidable scout archer, ready to face any challenge. L I M I T A T I O N S || LIGHT SENSITIVITY In brightly lit environments, Harper’s enhanced vision can become overwhelmed or blinded, leaving her vulnerable to attacks. For instance, a flash grenade or a sudden burst of light can temporarily incapacitate her, forcing her to rely on her teammates for protection. To counteract this, Harper wears custom goggles designed to filter and adjust the level of light entering her eyes. However, the goggles can be damaged or removed, exposing her to potential danger. W E A K N E S S E S || HEARING AND SITUATIONAL AWARENESS Harper's heavy reliance on her enhanced vision sometimes makes her neglect other senses, such as hearing. Enemies can exploit this weakness by using sound to distract or disorient her. For example, a villain who creates loud, disorienting noises could severely hinder Harper's ability to focus and analyze her surroundings. Additionally, due to her focus on observing and analyzing visual details, Harper may be vulnerable to unexpected or sudden changes in the environment. This could lead to situations where she is caught off-guard by an attack from an unseen enemy or a trap that relies on sound or touch rather than sight. Harper must consciously maintain her situational awareness and work on honing her other senses to avoid falling victim to these types of attacks. With a drug addict for a mother and a father who couldn't care less whether he lived or died, it was a wonder he grew up as a (mostly) functional adult. With no one to rely on for most of his life, Samael was forced to provide for himself. As young as he was, there was little in the way of legitimate work he could access, but with a little bit of luck, patience and eye for detail, he managed to make something of a living for himself. That was how he learnt a simple truth; people were easy to read, and if he could do that well enough, he could use them for whatever he wanted. He lived and breathed walking a tightrope, where the slightest mistake would cost him everything. Failure was never an option. It was a routine. Grueling, but familiar. Exhilarating. When his powers manifested, everything was downhill from there. His parents were never particularly caring at the best of times, but finding out that their son was a Hyperhuman was the proverbial straw that broke the camel's back. Samael was all too happy to cut ties with them after their extreme, hostile reactions. He never looked back after that, except to leave them a parting gift as a final "thanks for nothing". Soon after that, he met Adrian, his current guardian, in the loosest sense of the word. He was decent, unlike Samael's parents. He never spoke about his job and Samael never asked, except to offer help a few times. He only ever knew the bare minimum, but that was enough to let him figure out some things on his own. When he came of age, Adrian proposed the idea of sending him to PCRU, a school dedicated to helping Hyperhumans control their abilities. At first, he was indifferent, but he ultimately agreed, if only to learn to better control his powers. D E T A I L E D A P P E A R A N C E & A E S T H E T I C D E T A I L E D A P P E A R A N C E & A E S T H E T I C Samael is a difficult person to find in a crowd and often overlooked when he wants to be. He has black, messy hair that he usually keeps short and out of the way when he bothers to do so. Despite his otherwise intentionally unremarkable appearance, his eyes are a vibrant blue, giving away the bare minimum while keeping his true thoughts hidden. Samael possesses an athletic build cultivated from years of acrobatics and running from trouble. His body sports a multitude of scars, both from his rigorous training sessions and from several unfortunate encounters. In terms of style preference, Samael doesn't really have any. He usually dresses in whatever he has that happens to fit the current occasion. He mostly adheres to the school dress code, except for the blazer, which he leaves unbuttoned and sometimes just drapes over his shoulders. Outside of that, however, he tends to favour comfortable clothing that allows him to move freely. He wears few accessories, except for a sapphire necklace gifted to him some years ago. M A N N E R I S M S & P E R S O N A L I T Y M A N N E R I S M S & P E R S O N A L I T Y A product of a less-than-stellar childhood, Samael is distrustful towards people, though not in an easily discernable way. Most people who have met him would describe him as 'nice but quiet'. On the surface, he appears to be a stolid, soft-spoken individual with a reserved countenance, though he can easily insert himself into social situations without seeming too out of place. While not an entirely inaccurate description, Samael only ever shows people what they are already looking for instead of what's actually on his mind. He has a morbid sense of humour and enjoys playing mind games with people he feels deserve it. Buried beneath the façade lies a troubled mind with little in the way of true expression. Despite his shifting attitude towards the people around him, he cares more than he usually shows outwardly, in his own way. So far, nothing has happened to peer quite that deep. |

His ability is charged by either generating kinetic energy through any movement he makes or siphoning it from objects or persons around him. Using the stored kinetic energy, he can enhance himself in several ways, such as supercharging his physical and mental processes or accelerating his healing capabilities. His power doesn't need to be active in order to store energy, only to use it. Despite seeming skilful in using his powers, he still has to learn much to become truly proficient. Samael can also transfer kinetic energy from one object to another, turning an object's potential energy into kinetic energy and making it explosive or siphoning kinetic energy from objects/persons around him to slow them down considerably and potentially freeze them. As a result, he is functionally immune to extreme temperatures and impact damage. L I M I T A T I O N S || C A P A C I T Y Every movement he makes or hits he takes charges up his internal battery. However, as with all things, its capacity is finite, and as such, Samael can only hold up to a certain amount of kinetic energy before he is forced to bleed off some of it to prevent overload; a forceful, involuntary discharge that temporarily shuts down his powers. Further complicating the matter is his inability to tell when he's approaching his limit, which also makes it difficult to increase it. W E A K N E S S E S || I M M O B I L I S A T I O N As one would expect of a power intrinsically tied to movement, the lack of such is an obvious weakness. Since Samael's ability relies entirely on energy generated by his movements to function, if he is somehow immobilised and unable to act, his powers are essentially rendered useless for as long as it lasts. The product of a one-night stand, Aurora's mother Sasha was young, too young to even think about having a child - she wasn't even out of high school when she found out she was expecting - and Aurora's father didn't even know she existed, as he left shortly after she was conceived. Living in a dead end town off of historic Route 66, Sasha struggled to make ends meet in a place that didn't have much to offer in terms of opportunity. She worked two jobs to stay afloat and the first few years were tough (at points they were forced to live in her mother's car) but when Aurora was 5 her mother met a man who changed their fate. Damon Fray might have had questionable morals and his money and resources were acquired through illegal means, but he gave Sasha and her daughter shelter and safety and that was everything then. He and his friends were notorious in Kingman for their bad deeds - dealing, stealing, and violence - most of it driven by hate and directed towards Hyperhumans. Eventually, his kindness wanted and he began to take out his frustrations on Aurora's mother both physically and mentally. Aurora's powers first manifested at age 10. Damon and her mother were arguing viciously and as she sat at the top of the stairs helplessly, Aurora wished she could be somewhere else, anywhere but there. The next thing she knew she had teleported to the base of the stairs and then again into the living room. Sasha noticed her daughters spontaneous emergence, but thankfully Damon did not. After diffusing the situation, she immediately knew it was no longer safe for her daughter to stay there; who knew what Damon would do if he found out Aurora was special in that way. She knew he would not share the same acceptance she had been able to find in her heart, and so, Sasha did the hardest thing she'd ever have to do - let her daughter go. Under cover of night, Aurora was dropped off at a children's home in a neighboring town with strict instructions from her mother to hide her abilities at all costs. Young Aurora at first didn't understand why it had to be this way, but quickly learned that the world feared people like her. She bounced from foster home to foster home over the next two years - as soon as each placement figured out she was Hyperhuman, it was on to the next. It wasn't until the children's home had simply run out of viable options that they enlisted the assistance of H.E.L.P. to have her sent to P.R.C.U. Shortly before Aurora's 13th birthday, she arrived on Dundas Island and has remained there ever since. M A N N E R I S M S & P E R S O N A L I T Y M A N N E R I S M S & P E R S O N A L I T Y Aurora navigates the world with a cautious gaze and a guarded heart, her experiences having taught her that people aren't always what they seem. She's learned to rely on her instincts to guide her and because of this, she might come off as reserved, quiet, or introspective upon first meeting because she's simply observing and assessing the situation. However after she lets down her initial defenses, Aurora's warmth and compassion shines through. Her demeanor softens and her guarded expressions give way to a genuine smile that lights up any room and and an infectious laugh. She's gentle and unassuming, chooses her words with care, and moves gracefully but deliberately. There's a quiet confidence in the way she carries herself, indicative of a resiliency beyond her years. The turmoil and well, damage, that lies beneath this superficial layer though... only few will ever see if chooses she lets them in. Aurora's unyielding determination is a trait she got from her mother; watching her work tirelessly to provide for them and witnessing her relentless grind for their survival is something that the redhead carries with her everyday. As a result of it, Aurora is incredibly hardworking and is fueled by the desire to carve out a better future for herself. |

She also is able to move matter (objects or people) in the same manner. The redhead only needs to think and/or visualize where she would like to travel to (near or even sometimes far) and within seconds she will appear there spontaneously. Smaller distances are easy, like breathing, and don't tire her or deplete her. But longer distances take more of a toll and might require a bit of rest afterwards depending on the situation. The same goes for objects and people - teleporting on her own is one thing, but teleporting heavy objects and people requires more of her energy. L I M I T A T I O N S || R A N G E A N D E N E R G Y At this point in her training, Aurora's greatest limitation of her powers is range and distance. When she was a child, she could only travel extremely short distances - across the room or at most 30 feet away. Since then, she's expanded her radius exponentially to include anything within her field of vision at any moment, the entirety of Dundas Island, and further away places that she has visited previously and knows well (such as the Children's Home in Arizona). But if she has never been there before, or she cannot visualize the location, she is not able to teleport. Additionally, Aurora's ability to teleport is affected by her energy levels. If she is tired or spent significantly, she is unable to teleport at the same capacity as she can at full strength. Either she'll attempt to teleport somewhere and will only end up halfway to her intended destination or if she's particularly lacking in energy she won't be able to teleport at all. W E A K N E S S E S || F O C U S A N D P A N I C Aurora's teleportation abilities rely heavily on her mind, and in order to teleport somewhere she needs to be completely in control of her thoughts to direct them specifically towards a certain location or reason to move. She has done a lot of work personally - meditation, intention setting, even therapy - to calm, clear, and focus her psyche, but she still struggles from time to time. Enemies can take advantage of this through distraction, but she also at times can be her own downfall. The years she spent witnessing her mother's abuse and the constant displacement while in the system definitely took its toll, as she has harbors lot of residual anxiety and panic that proves to be a barrier to reeling in her racing thoughts. P L O T ( S ) & G O A L ( S ) P L O T ( S ) & G O A L ( S ) I'd like Aurora to muster up the courage to reconnect with her mother at some point. She is able to fully visualize her childhood home in her head so theoretically she could teleport there, but she has never taken the opportunity to do so - it's a tough subject for her. Aurora's birth father is also somewhere out there and she's always wondered who he is/what his story is. In terms of interaction with other characters, Aurora has deeply rooted trust issues as well as fear of abandonment due to her upbringing, so I think she would really benefit from a close relationship of some sort (whether it be romantic or platonic). She has superficial bonds with her classmates but she needs to break down her walls and let someone into her life on a deeper level in order to heal. She prioritizes listening and watching before she acts, and utilizes details to help read situations and solve problems. She remembers sleeping in a car or motels, eating grilled cheese for most meals, and many days in the back of a salon playing with the toys in the lost and found box. She was six when she was taken away by CPS. From then on, Haven remembers the smell of cigarettes and old carpets. The sound of loud TV's and arguments. Every now and then she'd be placed with other kids, but she'd never stay long enough to get to know them. Not until her last placement. Haven's final foster placement was in a home for lost girls. While the rules were strict, Haven quickly found a way around them. She even found a friend, who felt more like a sister to her. They made the most of their little lives at the home. When the two began to mature, Haven was inflicted by Virumosis. Her friend became a young woman, but Haven suddenly became something strange and unknown. Her wings sprouted slowly, growing much like a young bird's would. When they grew to a size that she couldn't hide Haven decided that it was time to leave the home. The other girls bullied her. Even the faculty looked at her with disgust. Her found sister was the only one who wanted her there. Before Haven could find out what the home would do with a hyperhuman orphan, Haven dipped. She took off into the mountains, away from any unwanted attention. She adapted to life as a scavenger through trial and error. Some nights she'd sleep in the trees, and some nights she'd break into vacant vacation homes or cabins for a warm bed. Her wings grew stronger, and soon she decided to use them for their natural purpose. Learning to fly was also a trial and error process. Most of the scars on her arms and legs are from those efforts. When the weather began to dip below comfortable temps, Haven headed south. After a few years of living this way, Haven had an unfortunate run in with the law. She was turned over to H.E.L.P. soon after that, and remained at a temporary home for hyperhuman children until she was given the chance to apply to PRCU. It took some effort, and her entrance test results were below average, but she had an agent advocate for her. Freshman year at PRCU was a rough transition period. On top of adjusting to a social life after years of being on her own, Haven also had to worry about Hyperion's attacks while managing good grades. Somehow she managed to overcome all three. Haven bloomed at PRCU. She found people who accepted her, and a team that stuck together through the roughest parts. Now entering into her final year, Haven is working hard to decide what her next steps will be. D E T A I L E D A P P E A R A N C E & A E S T H E T I C D E T A I L E D A P P E A R A N C E & A E S T H E T I C Haven has an athletic, yet slim build with broad shoulders to support her wings and strong legs for takeoff. The virumosis made her naturally toned, but she keeps active to maintain the muscles that support her wings and to get stronger every day. Her back muscles are the strongest part of her body. She has medium length hair with a natural wave, which normally has a mind of it's own. She's always pushing it out of her face or sticking it up in a ponytail so she won't have to deal with it. Baby hairs surround her face, which is still in the process of maturing. Since freshman year her face has grown sharper, yet a bit of baby fat still shows in her cheeks when she smiles. Her eyes are sharp and observant, seeming to peer through to a person's core. Her expression is flat, appearing like a RBF to those who don't know her well enough. That changes quickly if she is talking to someone she cares for, transforming into a warm smile. Haven's wings span eleven feet across when stretched to their full length. They sprout between her shoulder blades, with a small patch of feather tissue connecting them of about two inches. This patch is the same tawny color as the top of her wings. If you were to compare her wings to an actual bird, they are most similar to a tawny eagle. Her wings begin a tawny brown, which then turns darker shades of brown as her feathers reach down to the tips. The underside of her wings repeat the same pattern, albeit ending in a lighter shade of brown than the tops. In her freshman year, all of Haven's clothes were hand-me-downs, lost and found pieces, or donations from the Salvation Army. As the years went on, she's collected her own brand new clothes. Her style outside of the classroom involves a lot of neutral clothing with small pops of naturally found colors. All of her tops have hand-sewn slits in them to adapt to her wings. She dresses like she could fly off into the mountains at any point and stay comfortable with layers, jeans or cargo pants, and a flannel or jacket on top of a tank top. For shoes she wears boots or sneakers she's able to run in. M A N N E R I S M S & P E R S O N A L I T Y M A N N E R I S M S & P E R S O N A L I T Y Once a reserved and rather snappy freshman, Haven has relaxed into her true nature. She's an open book, confident in her feelings and decisions. She's blunt with her words, and might overstep boundaries on occasion, but she is quick to learn from it and adjust. She's generally a go-with-the-flow type of person. She loves freely, and is fiercely protective of the people she cares about. She's not afraid to start a fight. Haven isn't the brightest on the team, but her observant nature makes up for it. She's capable of piecing clues together. She also isn't the one to go to for advice, mostly because she's not sure what to do either. Instead, she is the one to go to when it's time to let loose. To truly just enjoy being alive. When it comes to the other gender, Haven has never committed to a serious relationship. It might come from the fear of rejection, or it might be because she is afraid of being tied down to anything. Still, she's sure that one day someone will be capable of grounding her. |

The Virumosis altered her lungs, vision, hearing, muscles, and more importantly granted her feathers and bone on her back. The HZE ions that she internalizes are stored in her muscles and provide the strength that is needed to operate her wings and other avian abilities. To be specific... Haven's HZE ions enhance her lung capacity. Her lungs process O2 more efficiently than a normal human, meaning she is able to withstand low O2 zones and hold her breath for extended periods of time. Haven's muscles also burn through HZE ions to allow her the heightened strength, stamina, and make her body capable of adjusting to different altitudes and atmospheric conditions that come with high altitudes during flight. This can come in handy in colder or hotter conditions on ground. Akin to a bird's vision and hearing, Haven is capable of seeing and hearing over greater distances, seeing sharper images, the ultraviolet spectrum, and has a wider field of perception around her. Haven is capable of flying up to 57 kmh (36mph) given excellent physical and atmospheric conditions. When performing a dive, Haven is capable of doubling her speed. Finally, to adapt to minimal spaces (and hiding from the general population), Haven has trained her wings to be capable of tucking tightly to her backside. This is unaffected by HZE ions and is merely due to her own strength. L I M I T A T I O N S || C L E A R E D F O R T A K E O F F ? Haven's greatest limitation would be considered spatial difficulty. If she decides to take flight, she must ensure there is enough space around her to expand her wings to at least 2/3rds her wingspan. Haven's sense of taste and smell are also diminished similar to any avian. Finally, Haven isn't capable of adjusting to extremely unsafe environments such as the center of a volcano, the arctic's, or space without normal human attire/supplies/equipment. W E A K N E S S E S || F U E L Haven's weaknesses boil down to two simple necessities: Physical durability and the HZE ions in her body. In addition to relying on HZE ions to power her muscles, Haven must provide her body with nourishment and rest to be able to withstand her abilities. She must also keep her body trained to support her wings. In the event an Electron Beam Irradiation is used againster her, the HZE ions that power her strength and muscles falter. She will feel weaker, and will rely solely on the muscles she has trained herself to carry the weight of her wings. Additionally, Haven's enhanced hearing leaves her sensitive to loud noises. For example, she's easily disoriented by the firing of a gun at close range. As the first and only to his extended family, he was lavished attention by his mother, father, grandparents, aunts and uncles, and eagerly soaked up every drop; he became performative at an early age, theatrical, engineering a steady flow of praise and adoration. His parents encouraged this behaviour, pushing him into child dramatics programmes and extra-curricular classes, fostering a latent talent for acting in hopes it would crystallise into success. Ultimately, adolescent narcissism paid off, and after a series of castings in small parts, a young teenaged Gil landed the titular co-lead role in the breakaway hit Romeo & Juliet & Zombies – the surprise of the summer, a throwaway zom-rom-com turned box-office smash hit – and was propelled into Hollywood gliterrati completely. Bristol was left behind for the sparkling hills of LA, his parents seeking to capitalise on his silver-screen triumph and flip their beloved son into Hollywood’s hottest commodity. Success in this endeavour was mixed; the film was beloved and represented a significant payday for the Galahads, but performances in follow-up castings as Gil inevitably transitioned from adolescent heart-throb to adult acting were received with more mixed reviews, and slowly but surely the roles tapered off, and then the worst thing possible happened; Gil discovered he was Hyperhuman. His agent, of a more pragmatic mind than his parents, rapidly changed tact; he knew Hollywood would throw Gil to the gutter, and was determined to get ahead of it. He sourced pro-Hype activist movements and progressive independent channels, pushing Gil’s emergence as a pseudo-‘coming out’ PR puff-piece – and it paid off, landing Gil a central role on the independently-produced Hyperhuman-focused soap opera, Crestwood Hollow. His character’s introduction was well-received by fans of the show, and his storyline – utilizing his powers to portray both sides of a classic (if melodramatic) ‘evil twin’ arc – saw hot-and-cold reactions, but brought his name some recognition again; Gil Galahad was a hot topic in Hyperhuman circles, and he loved being talked about. When the storyline tapered off, and Gil’s character Put On A Bus, he segued into Pro-Hype activism, becoming the face of a new campaign with "Working for Hyperhuman Artists & Thespians", or W.H.A.T., a progressive actor's union fighting for Hyperhuman actors, artists, and performers in general to be accepted into mainstream Hollywood. All of this ultimately lead to PRCU as the pinnacle of PR moves; as a ‘notable’ Hyperhuman for PRCU to tout in their enrolment brochures, and a clear path for Gil to boost his legitimacy, it was a mutually beneficial arrangement, and Gil began his academic career in September 2027, enrolling in an Acting Major – emphasis in Stage & Screen – and a minor in Sociology, to keep the ‘activist’ image alive. For the most part, Gil’s enjoyed his time at the academy, and he’s welcomed the adoration from devoted fans and co-activists; but for the most part, he’s just ready to get back to Hollywood and break ranks into the A-List once again. |

Gil’s most common use of this ability is storing himself, utilising the quantum nature of his power to copy not only his body, but his very consciousness, and produce a sentient, independent clone. L I M I T A T I O N S || Gil’s replications are dependent on available matter, HZEs, and his own energy levels to produce copies, and the size and complexity of the object impacts his ability to replicate; too many copies of too complex an item in quick succession saps Gil’s own strength until he can’t manifest anymore without fatiguing just as fast. Static material objects are easier, but at max current potential he can manage 2 full clones – Gil2 and Gil3 – but feels slightly woozy afterwards; any more just knocks him out. Additionally, Gil can only store a single object at a time, can only store objects he’s made physical contact with, and while he can store and replicate himself at any time, doing so ‘overwrites’ any currently-stored item. Gil’s clones are also bereft of powers themselves, unable to manipulate HZEs in the same way, so they can’t create their own clones – no recursive replication loops. Gil’s clones are able to self-sustain indefinitely, but they require sufficient nourishment to do so – roughly 1.5x the average caloric intake and healthy rest that a standard man of Gil’s size and stature would need. Without any sustenance or sleep, a clone can last 12-16 hours before crumbling, but grows exponentially weaker as time drags on. Finally, Gil can store and copy other people, but due to the complexities of the human psyche, is unable to replicate their consciousnesses like he can his own – so he only produces unsettling, brain-dead versions of their bodies, which understandably upsets everybody and is best avoided. W E A K N E S S E S || Gil’s copies aren’t enhanced in any way, and are only as effective or powerful as the original object is. Gil’s clones are independent copies of his consciousness, and while they’re aware they’re clones, they’re not necessarily automatically subservient to the original Gil. All of Gil’s copies are essentially half-HZE constructs, so anti-hype tech and weaponry that disrupts HZE ions is not only effective at inhibiting Gil’s powers, but also acts like spreading salt on ice against anything he's replicated. P L O T ( S ) & G O A L ( S ) P L O T ( S ) & G O A L ( S ) Gil’s not super invested in PRCU as an academic institution and an opportunity for self-improvement as much as just using it to line him up for some stunt-casted roles in the growing pro-Hyperhuman movement within Hollywood, ultimately seeing the university as the best political move to claw back his waning fame and land in LA’s good graces again. He’s grateful for the place offered to him by the academy, but has taken it somewhat for granted and seen it as an easy ride thus far. Gil’s aware of the Hyperion incident and the controversies surrounding it, and Alexandria’s move to purchase PRCU, but is ultimately of a ‘doesn’t affect me personally so I don’t care’ mentality. Sure, he’s pro-Hype, but his plan is to graduate, break big back into movies again, and never look back. He’s pro-Hype and (carefully) vocal of his activism while it serves a purpose, but he’s also aware that he can pass as ‘normal’ if he needs to drift away from this latest cultivated image. Gil likes the university; he’s pleased to have the chance to graduate with an honest-to-god degree; he’s happy to support a progressive agenda, especially while the agenda favours him; but for Gil, it’s less about scholastic ambition, and more about making the smartest move to get rich and famous again. Will that attitude continue through the completion of his graduating year, or will he ‘go native’ and actually fall in with those he supposedly represents? Separately, I'm seeking to engage in a romantic sub-arc with Gil, finding that special someone that connects with the actual person beneath the LA-bred schmooze and superficial charm, forcing Gil to realise that true fulfilment and interpersonal connection runs deeper than reading a 4-star review from rogerebert.com, or fan-mail off tumblr. It doesn't work for everyone - he's been accused of being 'fake' on more than one occasion - but for the most part, he's well-liked and easily sociable. While not exorbitantly rich, her family was still reasonably wealthy by South African standards. Katja can’t recall a whole lot about her time in South Africa before the riots, but she remembers being happy and never left wanting. This all changed with the Hyperriots of 2016. Following a massive corruption scandal which left millions destitute, the government tried to shift the blame towards the Hyperhumans. What followed was several weeks of riots, culminating in the Bloemfontein Massacre. Chanting “Kill the Hypie”, thousands of mundane humans went to the streets and killed whichever Hyperhuman, real or suspected, they could find, even going so far as to break into homes of known Hyperhumans. This is exactly what happened to the Kruger family. Katja watched in horror as her parents were killed in front of her. Her sister would get badly crippled as she was left for dead by the attackers, never able to walk again. Katja was only spared because her sister managed to hide her away in time. Saved by their uncle and with the aid of H.E.L.P., the Kruger siblings would move with him away from South Africa to High Point, NC in the United States. While the States wasn’t much better than South Africa when it came to Hyperhuman persecution, it was at least safer than waiting for another possible riot. While there was an attempt to keep the Krugers’ Hyperhuman status a secret, Katja’s awakening would quickly manifest itself publicly during a school physical exam where she weighed in at triple the weight she sould’ve been. This revelation almost immediately led to Katja becoming an outcast at her school, and the Krugers in their local community. Often their house would be vandalized with graffiti or a brick through their windows. At one point their house has even been shot at in a drive-by. Needless to say, Katja’s social life in High Point was over. Despite the adversity and discrimination Katja persevered through high school. Passing with middling grades and with no real social connections, her academic future looked very grim. That is, until her uncle used his contacts within H.E.L.P. to ask for a possible application to PRCU. Katja was ecstatic when she heard about this. Seeing it as her one shot at an academic education, but more importantly a return to acceptance from peer students, she would eagerly take the opportunity if it arrived with both hands. A starry eyed Katja went to PRCU with great hopes. She thought that she’d finally be able to live out a normal student life which the Mundane world had denied her. But those hopes soon turned to dust with the attacks by Hyperion. Katja tried her best to leave these events behind her and pick up her new academic life at the school. She joined House Alces while deciding to major in History. She also reinforced the Chimeras, PRCU’s very own Hyperball team. But the attacks and Hyperion’s eventual defeat would still have a great impact on Katja’s time in PRCU, as she never managed to truly leave those events behind. D E T A I L E D A P P E A R A N C E & A E S T H E T I C D E T A I L E D A P P E A R A N C E & A E S T H E T I C Coming in at 6’8 and weighing nearly 280lbs, saying that Katja stands out amongst a crowd would be an understatement. Her towering height and muscular physique give the young woman an imposing physique. While her physical presence and intense blue eyes might be intimidating to some, her joyful demeanor and energetic smile almost always manages to disarm anyone who’s anxious about her, making her seem like a jolly giant. Her light blonde hair reaches down to just below her shoulder blades if she has it hanging loosely, which she rarely does as it’s usually tied in a ponytail or a bun. Usually when Katja isn’t in uniform she wears clothes that emphasize her physical fitness, like sleeveless tops, short sleeved shirts, shorts or short skirts. Often these clothes are from PRCU’s own sports team, the Chimeras, or the Alces sports team. Katja does sometimes like to wear cargo pants and hoodies though. In terms of footwear she either wears sneakers or heavy duty boots. M A N N E R I S M S & P E R S O N A L I T Y M A N N E R I S M S & P E R S O N A L I T Y Headstrong, earnest, impulsive and outgoing, Katja is a ball of positive energy wherever she goes. Her lack of people skills is on full display as she doesn’t have any sense of personal space. She is very optimistic and will try to cheer her friends on, no matter the adversity. Katja is very protective of those she cares about, be they friends or family, and also has a weak spot for the weak and outcasts of society. She always wears her heart on her sleeve, always speaking honestly about what she thinks of things, even if it might not be something her conversation partner might want to hear. Overall Katja is a happy go lucky kind of gal, always looking for the positive side of things and looking to have a fun time. Having said that, she can be quite temperamental and stubborn, especially when she considers herself or any loved ones slighted. If the slight is judged extreme enough Katja might hold a grudge for the rest of her life. She is also a very sore loser and if possible will demand instant rematches until she finally secures that much coveted victory. |

This has the result that her density of substance can basically be increased or decreased at will. In practical terms this means that Katja’s body becomes much heavier and resilient then you’d at first glance expect of her. It basically turns her into a human wrecking ball, able to endure great amounts of punishment while also being almost unstoppable by traditional physical obstacles once she has some momentum behind her. And despite the added mass, it does not seem to impact her movement at all. This is because the density of everything in her body is affected by her powers, from her skin all the way down to the bones. Over the years at PRCU Katja has managed to further develop her powers. Now she is able to focus her ability specifically on increasing the density of her muscle fibers. This results in much more powerful muscles, giving her the ability to exert much more strength than would normally be the case. In layman's terms: She gets super strength. However, she has only recently acquired this ability and she has much to learn about how to fully utilize it. L I M I T A T I O N S || Weight, Practicality, Energy Increasing the potency of her ability is like increasing the strength of any muscle in the human body. It requires lots of training and time. Currently Katja is able to make her body almost as dense as tungsten, making her tough enough to shrug off most projectiles from firearms, with the exception being anti-material rifles. While there is some resistance to damage from temperature based attacks, think flamethrowers or freezing, Katja will still experience the same level of pain that any mundane person would have when they’re exposed to these types of attacks. At her max density Katja will weigh 5300 lbs which brings complications of its own. For instance, she couldn’t go to her max if she was on a glass surface without immediately cracking it and falling through. And if she’s in an area where collateral damage should be avoided at all costs, then that’s going to make it almost impossible for her to use her powers. As for her strength, the maximum amount of weight Katja can lift in an overhead press while boosting her muscle fiber density is 2 metric tons, or 4410 lbs. Fluids that leave her body, be they saliva, sweat, blood or whatever, revert back to their mundane state. So there won’t be any spit flying around with the mass of tungsten any time soon. The use of HZEs, or Hazies, in this fashion is quite energy intensive and it leads to Katja having quite the appetite. Especially after intense exertions. W E A K N E S S E S || Oxygen, Range, Psychic Despite how tough she might be, Katja still needs oxygen. Take that away and she’s going to die just like any other person, be that through encasing her in ice, drowning her in water, exposing her to a nerve gas, just having flames consume all the oxygen or just any other method your brilliant minds can come up with. She’s also weak against ranged threats, because all she’ll have to deal with those is chucking rocks at them. And even though the rocks might be big… They’re still rocks. Finally, she also has absolutely no inbuilt resistance to any psychic attacks. P L O T ( S ) & G O A L ( S ) P L O T ( S ) & G O A L ( S ) Katja’s life's goal is to make the world a safe place for all the children born with the Hype Gene, her brothers and sisters, as she refers to them. While some might consider this wishful thinking, it’s something Katja has been determined to achieve ever since she lost her parents. Another goal that is very dear to her heart is to keep the friends that she made at PRCU safe. She will go to any lengths to keep those close to her safe. As for plots… Katja wants to leave her mark on House Alces. She was initially invited due to her gentleness to others. And while this definitely suits her when it comes to personal interactions, her competitiveness would give many in House Canis a run for their money. She’s doing her best to help House Alces get rid of its stigma of being the House of the “kind ones who always finish last” and get her House as close to another Laurel win as she possibly can. As a result of a lifetime of persecution Katja developed a deep-seated hatred for mundane humans. The couple owned a Japanese barbecue restaurant and while they were wealthy by any means, they were also not poor. They lived life as a middle class family and all was well especially when the young girl had doting parents who were only all too happy to indulge in the girl’s love for food and eating. As she grew old and big enough, Mei began helping out her parents in their restaurant after school, serving customers and even in the kitchen sometimes when they were short handed. She would spend the off peak hours resting up or doing her homework, and began working once the dinner time came around. Life was bliss for the three of them, and that was how the young Mei hoped her happy life would continue forever. Unfortunately, one day all of these would come to an end. It wasn’t long after her ninth birthday, when Mei was playing with her schoolmates in her school field trip in a nature park. After ascending a hill, standing near the edge of a cliff, one of her schoolmates who didn’t like her thought it would be funny if she fell down the cliff with everyone watching. Thrown off guard and grasping at air frantically as she fell, silk webbings spurted in a long line from both hands as the sticky web stream stuck itself onto the trunk of a large tree as soon as it made contact. Her fall halted, she found them web thick and strong enough to handle her bodyweight and by then her teacher had begun to help by pulling her up to safety. This changed everything. Everyone began to treat her differently after that, and somehow word began to spread around her family’s restaurant as well. The wary looks, curious stares and constant gossiping never stopped. After the restaurant closed one night, Mei heard her parents talking about enrolling her in a school for Hyperhumans. Her parents didn’t want to wait for something to happen, especially now that it was known to many that their daughter was a Hyperhuman. Her parents eventually told her about Pacific Royal Collegiate & University in Canada, and convinced her that it was in her best interest to join the special institution dedicated to helping Hyperhumans learn and control their abilities. Just one of the many genes inherited from her parents, her expressive deep brown almond-shaped eyes are without a doubt her most recognisable facial features. They twinkle with delight and excitement whenever she finds interest in something, and the twin brown orbs emote expressively in times of happiness, anger or displeasure. Long black locks that reach down to her waist, she usually wears them naturally down, only placing it into a ponytail or a bun when she engages in exercises or any other activity that requires agility. Comfort is key to her dressing style as she often engages in bouts of highly physical activities. The clothing she wears is often easy to move around in and not too restrictive. These can range from loose fitting t-shirts and oversized sweaters and pants/skirts to form-fitting exercise attire, depending on her mood and the circumstances. A fun-loving and passionate soul, she loves having fun and works hard just as she plays hard. It is natural for her to devote all her attention to something once it catches her interest. Highly-devoted, she is committed to those she loves and befriends. Since young, she has always been the type to mingle and play around with the boys while still holding her own. Highly passionate about what she believes in, and armed with an ironclad determination and fighting spirit, she can often prove to be a feisty challenge not everyone can handle. Possessing a whole lot of spunk, she is not one to turn down a challenge. Mei enjoys other people taking an interest in her activities and sometimes doesn't even mind them getting into her space. The protein fibre of silk is composed mainly of fibroin and is produced by oversized spinnerets that are used to create different types of webbing. These spinnerets are mutated and enlarged from the ones found on the common spider to withstand the mass amounts of spider silk they excrete from the associated glands. Unlike spiders, these mutated spinnerets are located in her wrists with small orifices that can open and close at will. There are two different kinds of web spigots, with the major one being used for draglines and web spinning, while the minor web spigots are used for cocoons, swatting and netting. Her manipulation of silk webbing can range from simple forms like spinning a strand, or a more complex form like building webs and even creating items from it. There are two different types of webs used by spiders, the dragline silk and the flag line silk. The flag silk is weaker but far more elastic, great at absorbing the impacts of shock. The dragline silk is the stronger of the two and slightly stretchy, and is the main spider silk type used for the main support of its web. She is able to create both at will, although practice is required to do so. It can come in many shapes, be stretchy or strong, it may be thick like cord or thin like wire. With enough practice, she may eventually be able to make it more or less sticky, controlling their density to make them razor-sharp or controlling the direction they fly in. A common spider’s silk is incredibly strong, and compared quantitatively weight for weight, silk webs are 5 times tougher than most steel of the same diameter, and while it may not be as strong as Kevlar, it is tougher than both the common steel and kevlar when compared at the same weight. Apart from her organic web powers, her strength is also enhanced, allowing her to lift up to 2 tons unassisted with her silk webbing. Assisted with her silk webbing, she is able to withstand far heavier weights by strengthening its integrity to support the weight that is needed at that point of time. L I M I T A T I O N S || ENERGY/CALORIE DEPENDENT The effectiveness and amount of organic webbing depends on her health and nutrition.The organic webbing takes about a week to decompose on its own if there are no interferences. Despite its strength and durability, silk webs still have a weight limit and threshold, and those possessing a strong enough force should be able to break through and overcome it with ease. The production of the silk webbing naturally also requires a large metabolism from her which means that she has to consume larger portions of food, more than the average amount of someone of her size, especially protein-rich diets to cater to the energy needed for the production of the silks. She is almost always hungry, and has to eat 5-6 meals a day, and most of these are not small meals at all. She needs to constantly make sure she is accompanied with snacks or eat a massive meal beforehand, or she will feel weak and dizzy. The distance of how far she can shoot her web is at an estimated 60 feet. It can reach significantly further distances if she shoots it in a ballistic parabolic arc. W E A K N E S S E S || VULNERABLE TO MANY TYPES OF DAMAGES Her silk webbing is not too different compared to its pure natural counterpart. It is vulnerable to sharp piercing and thrusting weapons/attacks, although depending on the thickness of the particular thread/rope it is trying to cut or pierce through, more force or time needs to be expended to do so. Another easier way to get rid of it is to expose it to high heat or extreme cold. Like any other pure silk, it is more difficult to set on fire and burn once ignited, therefore constant heat or fire needs to be applied to it for it to be burnt through. The amount of heat varies on the thickness and integrity of the silk. When exposed to constant heat/flame, silk burns faster than cotton, however due to its self-extinguishing properties, once the flame is removed, it will stop burning unlike cotton which will continue burning until extinguished externally. Freezing it and shattering it at subzero temperatures is also another viable way to destroy it for those with access to cyrokinesis. Corrosive chemicals or powers can also eat through the silk webbing easily as other textile materials. Blunt force can also inflict serious damage if the force is bigger than current weight and tensile strength of the silk webbing in question can handle. Her silk webbing is definitely not invulnerable in any sense of the word, but can be reinforced at all. The biggest damage causer would definitely have to be constant exposure to extreme heat/flame and any forms of sharp piercing or thrusting element attacking it relentlessly.
