I started 'Agatha all along' and I have to say I'm pretty pleased with it. The marvel shoes series are really interesting and fun to watch.

Been binging Finding Bigfoot. I watched it when I was younger, and I still find it enjoyable (even if it's goofy to go out in the woods and bang on trees).

Someone likes zombie media.

Been watching Star Wars content again., tossing it on in the background or as I grind reputations + farm heroics/raids in WoW.

Power of the Rings

We just finished watching the second season of Power of the Rings. Well, no, that’s a lie. We finished watching it a week or more ago. Accuracy aside, I think Sauron is a more devious and therefore scarier bad guy than the Joker (memory eternal/rest in peace, Heath Ledger). I am not particularly sure why I spent time comparing them them, but I did. Maybe it is a girly thing or something. Ka-chow! Although, I’m more of an Elrond Girl…

Also, Tom Bambodil, I mean, Bombadil makes a fairly decent appearance, and of course, he will always have a special spot in my heart. Even if I accidentally left him out of one of my college essays over LOTRs. Or maybe that’s the reason why. Who knows?

5/7 - I do recommend taking a look if you have not already.

Been watching some horror and horror-adjacent movies this month, like I'm sure a lot of people are. There are two that really stuck out to be so far since I hadn't seem them prior. House and One Cut of the Dead.

House is listed as a horror/comedy, but its shot in such a way I honestly don't know if it was supposed to be a comedy when they filmed it... it seems more like they wanted it to be taken seriously. It wasn't particularly funny at all, all of the humor in it came off so weird instead. Somewhere between comedy and surreal, but just enough in the middle that it wasn't funny. But it was fun, at least, and the practical effects were decently good. This is the 1985 film by the way.

As for One Cut of the Dead, it was a proper comedy. It was a super fun experience that I definitely recommend to anyone that likes horror comedies or zombie media. It's a Japanese film, but much of its humor is universal. I liked it a lot, though I'll say definitely make sure you stick it through the whole movie even if the first portion confuses you. Really great movie.

The Penguin (7 Episodes): This show is pretty entertaining. Penguin and his mother are both pretty good actors. (The sidekick character not so much.) But the plot is incredibly convenience based, and there’s a lot of plot armor/stupid tropes in it. I hope it ends satisfyingly & doesn’t try to rely on a second season. Because rarely does a good season of a modern show get a good follow up.

The Wild Robot: It’s a nice looking movie, and I enjoyed the g-rated morbid humor where every joke is how animals keep killing each other. But the time-skip plot isn’t paced very well, and I find a lot of the forced sentimental moments to be a little saccharine for my tastes.

You Are Umasou: Amusing and well-animated. The 3rd act is rushed, and the subtitle translation might not be perfect either. (One Stormy Night might be a better version of this film.)

Talk To Me: A very good lead performance, and that’s about all I can say. Almost no one dies, and all the characters are unlikeable/stupid.

You Might Be The Killer: You know the pothead character in Cabin In The Woods? Well, this was an entire movie of that kind of humor. And despite how I made that sound, it’s actually entertaining.

Wake Up: A worthless film, where all the characters are unlikeable and die in very unsatisfying ways. Surprisingly apolitical for a movie about (fake) social activists boycotting (what is essentially) an IKEA.

Caddo Lake: M.Night’s take on Dark (that show on Netflix). I called the twist before it was revealed & I found the second half of the movie (where most of the plot happens) a little too dull to engage with. It’s acted okay, for what little that’s worth.

Hoping Re:Zero's 3rd season continues to maintain its level of entertainment. Though the fact that a major character reveal moment was done in a side project, shows that the complicated narrative of this arc might be a little hard to adapt properly.

Saw Terrifier 2 and it's just a weird experience.

It's so over the top violent it's almost funny at times, but it's also cruel enough to make me wonder what the fuck is wrong with whoever came up with that.

I tried to watch one but there was too much of a malevolent sort of "horrific shit is about to happen" sense to it. 2 seemed stupider, but still a lot of horrific mean shit happened.

I don't recommend anyone watch it, but if you have I'm curious what you think.

The Sound of Music (1965)

My husband was astounded one evening to find out that I hadn’t watched this movie, yet, and then the family went in a Time Machine to the 1960’s and enjoyed this wonderful classic. First of all, the main character is trying to be a nun but ends up getting married, instead, which for some reason, is a total win in my book. The movie is a delightful, “tuneful and heartfelt movie.” It’s very wholesome and even has historical contexts for you history buffs. And of course, the acting is on-key; literally!

For a little sugar on top, my seven year old stepson made the comment, “Dad, you’re like the dad, and [Mole] is like the nice lady.” Last night, he asked to watch the movie, again. I’d like to imagine if I had gone through with becoming a nun, then perhaps, I would have been just like Maria. Songs and all.

‘Nuff said.

10/10 — I will be re-watching this movie.
