Name: Alphonse Dreary
Image/Appearance:
Alphonse is tall and thin, standing at 6’2”. He looks to be relatively young, maybe to be older 20’s, although he’s lost track of how old he really is. Not old enough to be dying anytime soon, but old enough that he’s seen at least one world war. Representing a Black Witch Moth, Alphonse’s skin is a velvety stone gray, his whole body completely covered in a furry fuzz. Still mostly looking like a human, though, he has everything present that a human would. Arms, legs, stomach, chest, fingers and toes, all covered in that fuzz like Setae. While the mothmen look mostly human, they do have an extra pair of arms and hands. These limbs protrude just slightly under the normal pair, closer to his stomach.

The wings that sit on Alphonse's back are those of the Black Witch Moth, a beautiful black, white, brown and sometimes purple-tinted. They span a total of 90cm when fully stretched out, although the mothman tends to keep them either pressed firmly against his back, or wrapped around himself in a cloak-like fashion.


No ears or nose sit on his head, but where humans eyes should be, sit a pair of black compound eyes. They aren’t overly large, however, but are definitely bigger than what a normal human would have. A black mop of hair sits on his head, flowing unkempt, the bangs almost covering those larger eyes. The back of his hair is short but still wild, flicking and fluffing uncontrolled. One top of his head are two long antennae, fluffy and almost looking like leaves. While he doesn't have any sort of traditional nose present, his face isn't wholly round. A side-profile shows a slight curve, like the bridge of a nose, ending in a point, before sloping downwards to finish the rest of his face.

Alphonse prefers to dress nicely, often seen in at least a button up shirt and dress pants. Occasionally he will have a waistcoat on. He always carries some sort of crystal on him, and has a pendant of a crescent moon tucked under his shirt.

Race: Mothman
Often thought of as just a cryptid man, running around the mountains of West Virginia, Mothmen (and women) are truer than most believe. Originally seen as Death’s constant companions, it’s unknown when the first true sighting was, and it is believed that these monsters have been around almost as long as Death itself. Death would even use them, gifting them the power of a guiding flame, a small handheld light that gave those dying souls succor as they crossed into the realm of the dead.

Their ability to transform into a moth may have been their downfall, as most Mothmen have forgotten their true selves. Legend has it that they transformed to escape the ravaging of humans, and never changed back. The life of a bug was simpler, and with their flame slowly becoming extinguished with time, they too faded from the lorebooks of monsters. Few true mothmen remain now, and with the passage of time, their role as Death’s eternal companion has come to an end.

Racial Traits:
Fragile - Mothmen, just like their smaller selves, are fragile creatures. The wings on their back especially, a slight tear or scrape leaving them grounded for prolonged periods of time.
Flight - The ability of flight is granted from the delicate wings on the Mothmen’s back. If the conditions are right, they can fly for a prolonged period of time.
Guiding Flame - A gift given to them by Death, the mothmen can produce a very small flame in the darkest of conditions. It acts as nothing more than a light, not being able to actually alight anything, no matter how dry the substance is.
Antenna - The antenna on the Mothmen’s head helps a moth in many ways. Not having a nose, these antennas act as a nose for them, often leading them to their next meal or a mate. It also acts as a navigational tool, allowing for a simpler flight.
Night vision/Light Sensitivity - Mothmen have compound eyes with a reflective surface, giving them the ability to see in the dark. They are heavily affected by light, however, and are often seen during the day with wearing a blindfold or some type of covering over the eyes.
Proboscis - Not having a traditional human tongue, instead, Mothmen have a proboscis. The tubed tongue help them get to the nectar of flowers, if they find themselves in the wilds.
Setae (Skin) - Unlike humans, mothmen don’t have traditional skin, their bodies being coated by Setae, or a slight furry like scale. They are almost velvety to the touch, but hard to grab ahold of, almost seeming to slip right out of anyone’s grasp. This helps them keep protected, and remain uninjured, seeing as how they are so fragile.
Transforming - Mothmen hold the power to transform at will, turning themselves smaller. It used to be a way to get closer to those that are dying without detection, but is now used as a means to protect themselves from dangers much larger than them. There is a risk, however, that the longer one is transformed, the more they forget their true selves.
Long-lived - To be Death’s eternal companion, one must be around long enough to be of aid. Mothmen don’t age as normal humans, often living centuries, although death does come for them eventually. Once they forget themselves, however, they tend to only live a few months.

Requirements: Much like vampires needing blood, Mothmen need their own special sustenance - nectar. A simple batch of flowers would suffice. A garden would be nice, though, if there isn’t one already included in the complex. Being a more nocturnal creature, an area that has more dim light would be better suited for the moth.

Personality: Alphonse is a soft soul, often seen with a book in his hands. He is kind-hearted by nature, but often quite shy. Overly inquisitive though, he himself will often find a mess of trouble from sticking his (non-existent) nose where it doesn’t belong. Violence doesn’t suit Alphonse, the man preferring to flee any situation that would make him uncomfortable, rather than tackle it head on.

Definitely not at all a social butterfly, too much time around people he is unfamiliar with will drain his energy fast, and he’ll often need to recharge in his room or garden.

Background: He had almost forgotten himself, you know? After one particularly nasty incident with a pair of humans, cornering him in the streets of some long changed city, he had transformed to flee. The fear stuck with him, seeping into every inch of his tiny body, Alphonse thinking that if he ever changed back he would be done for. It had almost been too long, his mind beginning to forget the feelings of walking on two legs and studying a dusty book, instead only craving the sweet nectar of the flower field he found himself in.

Alphonse had heard a calling though, soft and sweet. A voice sang to him, reminding him what it had been like, to be human. The woman in the flower field, gathering what she could to adorn her house, reminded him. He hadn’t known she was a witch, a practitioner of dark magic that would once again draw him close to death. She wasn’t afraid when he changed, falling to the ground, forgetting how to walk. They lived together then, until the witch turned old, and Alphonse eventually had to lead her from this plane of existence.

It was then that he went in search of somewhere new, the loneliness of her small home sending him to look for a new companion. He found himself, shortly after, at the Umbra Rose Condos. The only place that he could truly be himself, without any risk of losing who he once was in the fear of the humans.

Building, Floor, and room: (Remember that building 1 is mostly for humanoids) Building 2, floor 5, room 2
Room description: Alphonse’s room is always dim, with only natural light or candles to keep it lit up. The wall facing the outside has two large windows on it, with a blackout curtain hanging above them, keeping the sun at bay if it’s overly bright. Everything in his room is some sort of black, purple, brown or gray, with occasional bits of a burgundy scattered throughout.

Crystals are scattered about, set delicately in certain spots, with a few always recharging on one of the window sills. A small desk sits in the corner, next to the full-sized bed. A black box embossed in gold, with a purple velvet cloth over it sits delicately there. The tarot cards in the box are treated well, and while Alphonse denies any actual realism behind his predictions, he will occasionally read your cards if you are close enough to him.

Name: Miyuki no Suzuyami // Suzuyami no Miyuki

Racial Traits:

• Shapeshifting: Like many of her kin, Miyuki can transform and change into different guises. Usually though, she only swaps between her true fox-form, her demi-human appearance and her full-on human form. She can do things like change the color of her eyes and hair, but rarely bothers to do so.
• Canine Senses: Her sense of smell, taste and hearing are quite superior to that of your run-of-the-mill humans. For better and for worse.
• Longevity: As a spirtt-being, Miyuki doesn't age or suffer the effects of time as beings of flesh and blood do. As long as she isn't the victim of a freak accident, a madman with a hatchet, starving or being exorcised, she could - technically - keep on existing indefinetely.
• Magic: In addition to her transformation-powers, Miyuki also knows and wields the power of magic. Furthemore, Sse can sense and feel magic around her and from others. In this uncertain and dangerous time for monster-kind though, she rarely ever uses it, except for when she needs to let off steam or to pull tiny, harmless pranks.
• Fox-fire: In her human and demi-human form, she may summon blue flames. In her fox-form, she can breathe similar flames like a tiny, furred dragon. She doesn't like using it though, especially in her fox-form, as she claims it gives her a terribly sore throat afterwards.
• Cursed Tail: While her many fluffy and fine-plumed tails may be alluring, one of them is actually cursed. Touching this particular tail will cause the unfortunate offender to suffer from bad luck, equivalent in scope and duration to the amount of time and intensity with which they came into contact with said tail. Unfortunately, Miyuki herself has forgotten exactly which of her tails is the cursed one...

Requirements:

• Sound-proofed Room: When you've got ears that can pick up on most every sound, loud or faint, you'll no doubt have trouble falling asleep... Especially if you're used to a rural enviroment and then suddenly come yo a metropolitan one with cars, tons of people and other constant noises... While this could normally be done with magic, trying to do so in this day and age can lead to attracting those people.
• Fried Tofu: ... This is quite possibly not an actual requirement, but Miyuki insisted that it is a necessary dietary need... Especially sincee she's been proven to be able to eat most things, both fruits, meats, vegetables and grain-based products.
• Grooming Tools: To make sure her pelt stays in tip-top condition and remains healthy, various assortments of brushes, combs and other similar items are needed. There's also a need for things to deal with shedding and the like... Claw-trimmers would be nice too.
• Eastern Decor: In order to feel at east and at home, Miyuki's insisted that her and her partner's room need to be decorated in a far-eastern style, in regards to everything from the floor, walls and furnishings.

Personality:
At first glance and on the surface, Miyuki seems to be a laid-back, calm and easy-going person. While she moves with grace and refinement, and speaks in an eloquent fashion, she isn't obtuse or uppity in her interactions. The kyuubi has a sense of humor and seems good-natured, able to jest and carry a friendly smile on her face.

... But that's where the pleasantries end. In truth, Miyuki's a lazy, selfish, petty and often-times child-like individual. She holds grudges foreverrrrrrr and is nearly impossible to earn any (sincere) forgiveness from if she feels that you've sliighted her. While she may carry herself with a smile and act as if she can laugh off any insult or back-handed comments, she's the type to never forget. Her laziness extends to pretty much everything, almost to the point of needing a full-time babysitter or attendant in order to just get her out of bed in the mornings - she likes to sleep in after all. But it isn't just getting out of bed, it's everything - from getting dressed to preparing meals to even taking care of her own hair and/or fur! Which is ironic, as she's also quite vain and proud of her physical appearance...

The fox spirit is also a glutton, and a lush, loving good food and good drink. And, as you might've expected, she's not exactly a graceful drunk. While normally physically playful and enjoying stringing people along by the nose, it gets so much worse when she's drunk. The prime target of these highly intoxicated affections unfortunately happens to be her roommate, Yumeiko, who is forced to endure these shennanigans, as well as the many other flaws Miyuki has.

That said, while she may not be (even close to) perfect, the fox does have some redeeming qualities. She's for one quite honest and doesn't care for giving out false hope or tired platitudes. She's a good listener when people want to talk or have someone to just hear them out. Finally, her selfishness often encompasses making those she likes or loves be happy, which means that those who can call themselves her friends or family will often find that she's actually quite caring, loyal and generous. Additionally, while she can enjoy pranks or causing mischief, she never does anything that'd cause any real harm or put anyone in real danger. She has some sense, after all.

... Plus Yumeiko would scold her otherwise... She doesn't like getting scolded...

Background:
Born/Created(?) in Japan a fairly decent tiem ago, Miyuki has travelled the length and breadth of her homeland several times over. From having made herself a pest to tiny farming communities to swaggering about in towns and cities, she's a lady who's been, done and seen her fair share of things. Bickered over turf with both oni and tengu, posed as a local deity to pilgrims and wandering monks, ransacked chicken coupes and more, this many-tailed fox spirit has had a storied and colorful past.

At one point, while posing as a young human, sshe attracted the attention of a certain nobleman, who brought her with him back to the Imperial court. There, she received training and education in how to be a proper lady as well as a high-ranking courtesan. Things were good. Until they weren't. As she grew in popularity and fame, her true self began to shine more and more. Lazy, indulgent, spiteful... it didn't take too long to become the enemy of every other woman in the entire palace. And, after a particularly lively night of drinking and partying, she made the mistake of transforming into her demi-human form when she thought she was alone... Except she wasn't. Another courtesan had seen her, and was quick to report this news to the proper authorities.

... Needless to say, Miyuki's high-end lifestyle at the royal court came to a screeching end, as onmyouji, excoresists and holy swordsmen all came barreling down to try and apprehend and dispose of the heinous trickster fox. Forced to flee, she managed to elude her pursuers and wandered for a time, before eventually coming upon a small mountain village and a certain temple. This is where she encountered her lovely miko, Yumeiko. After retelling the events of her life and recent history - with certain bits slightly altered or omitted - she was offered sanctuary and refuge at the fox priestess' home. While Miyuki herself never too to the worship or teachings of Inari no Okami, she nontheless helped out - somewhat - with taking care of the shrine and helping Yumeiko.

Eventually though, the village disappeared, with all its residents moving away or dying off, leaving the two fox spirits to take care of a lonely shrine in what was now a gohst town. At some point, some ne'er-do-wells came and tried to claim the land for themselves, to do whatever silly things humans do when they show up. This didn't sit well with the local priestess, nor Miyuki - who had grown very fond of her caretaker fellow fox. So, glorious battle was joined! ... Or well, something like that.

In the end, be it the arrival of heroes or the modernization and industrialization of Japan, the pair was eventually forced to move and relocate... And that's pretty much Miyuki's tale, up until now.

Building, Floor, and Room: Building #1, Floor #4, Room #407 (corner-room).
Room Description:
The front door opens to a stone-floored foyer with a step up to a wooden hallway, slightly elevated over the stone floor underneath. At one end of the step, there’s a fox-sized hole. The hallways of the condo aren’t too spawling, and they’re lined with the paper walls and doors you might find in a traditional Japanese home. Tatami mats and a closet full of deployable furniture and other things particular to that space are found in most rooms. There is a courtyard and, on the far side of that, the main shrine.

In one of the off-shoot rooms, behind a sliding door, is Miyuki's room. Which, basically, consists of a standing full-body mirror, a nightstand with a traditional lantern on top, and a lavish, unnecessarily-large-for-one-person bed. Complete with silken sheets and pillows.

Name: Yumeiko // Okami no Inari no Yumeiko

Racial Traits:
Shape Shifting - Yumeiko can easily change between her true fox shape, a demi-human shape, and a human shape, but it takes her effort to alter her appearance beyond changing between these shapes.
Animal Senses - Yumeiko has the sharp hearing and smelling of a fox, though her human form does dull these, somewhat.
Longevity - As a spirit fox and a servant of Inari no Ikami, Yumeiko enjoys immortality, but not invulnerability. The length of her life has earned her the total of five tails.
Blessed Tail - One of Yumeiko’s tails is blessed and will grant good fortunate. She won’t tell you which. She’s also immune to Miyuki’s cursed tail, on account of her blessed tail. The same goes for Miyuki, though. She cannot tell which tail is cursed, either, however.
Fox Fire - Her Fox Fire, the flames that radiate from the tips of her five tails, is quite a versatile magical ability. It can be used to glamor and transform objects, light fires, or light the way ahead. She can also shoot them as a firebolt projectile. The indigo-violet flames cast an ethereal light and smell faintly of lavender.
Magic Sense - The golden-furred spirit fox can sense the flow of mana in the space around her and, to a lesser extent, far away.
Spirit Medium - Yumeiko can communicate with spirits easily, and can readily form pacts with local gods.
Goddess Power - Under the correct circumstances, Yumeiko can perform great feats by the power and grace of Inari no Okami. She is especially adept at wielding holy objects, like prayer beads and talismans.

Requirements:
Grooming Supplies - Her fur and, more generally, her body, are just two of the ways that she expresses the beauty and elegance of her goddess. She must always look her best, lest she disgrace Okami no Inari.
Taiyaki - The correct energys to project herself to the heavenly plane to commune with Inari no Okami can only be obtained by consuming Taiyaki. Probably. Maybe.
Shrine to Inari no Okami - As a servant to the goddess, Yumeiko requires an adequate space to pray. It must have space for candles and incense and the proper acoustics. In order for her to be able to commune with Inari no Okami, certain rituals and ceremonies must be performed. Usually, these would be performed by priests and priestesses and she would have only to meditate, but, well..
Insulated Room - With the fine senses of an animal, Yumeiko needs sound and scent insulation to truly relax.

Personality: Yumeiko is a professional servant to her Goddess, Inari no Okami, even as she has been sent so far away from her forested mountain home. Or she tries to be. Things were a lot easier when she had humans to take care of the tedious bits. It’s definitely a pain to have to do all the work herself.

Though she laments the work, she’s too diligent to give it up. She knows how her goddess affects life across the land, and the power that comes with her diligence in the name of Okami no Inari.

While she appreciates the effort Miyuki puts in to aid her when she provides a mortal with a sacred vision, the Kyuubi could often be rather.. Yumeiko sometimes struggles to keep it together, while Miyuki is adding “allure”. Once or twice, she dropped character and repelled the flirtatious kiyuubi. Only twice. Three times.

She can be quite stern when her established expectations are not met. Besides that, she's quite a sweetheart, quite happy to offer hospitality and a comfortable, quiet place to those she trusts.

Background: Yumeiko once occupied a shine to the fox goddess, out in the mountains. There, she enjoyed a carefree life of the shrine’s spirit animal, loved and worshiped as a representative of Inari no Okami. The shrine maidens would groom her and feed her and perform the necessary rituals and rites, so that she could then ascend and commune with her goddess. At some point, another fox spirit found her way to the shrine and, after a touching story, was let to move in.

The wild fox introduced Yumeiko to many things. Her playfully mischievous nature grew on the shrine fox, and the two grew close. Yumeiko found herself, at times, indulging Miyuki’s vision of herself as a woman of high class. She had been, for a time. It was a comfort her friend sought, to be treated so. She could indulge her sometimes. The two of them would quarrel with the other residents of the mountain over territory or visit the humans. Yumeiko would bestow upon them sacred visions, while Miyuki liked to add a certain flair of.. allure, to her appearances before mortals.

The shrine, over time, became a forgotten place, and was eventually abandoned as the occupants faded away, the way time erases things. As the times changed, and people moved on and forgot, a retail developer decided they wanted the land. After a drawn-out, bloodless contention, the foxes were eventually forced out and had to find a new home in the Condos.

Building, Floor, and Room: Building 1, Floor #4, Room #407

Yumeiko’s room sits on the end of the main building, with a door to the interior of the main hall and a door to the courtyard, to allow her easy and ready access to the shrine. Within, her room is populated with various small icons of her goddess, like a bobblehead on her desk. She’s got art and calligraphy she’s done up on the walls, as well as a talisman or two mixed in, to prevent a certain someone from coming in uninvited. Which is which? She’ll never tell.
