Arborox is quick to shut down conflicts among her mythical residents, whether it’s a noisy banshee or a careless centaur tracking dirt through the hallways. She always mediates disputes with a calm and commanding presence.
Though serious on the surface, Arborox has a softer side that reveals itself in private moments. She has a natural instinct to nurture and guide others, particularly younger mythical beings who struggle to find their place in a fast-changing world. Description:
Regina Amorphia, also known as the Slime Queen, is a regal figure and the head of the cleaning department for the Umbra Rose apartment complex. With her glowing, neon-hued appearance, she looks equal parts intimidating and majestic. Her crown, made of semi-liquid slime and crystalline jewels, often glimmers faintly, a sign of her connection to the countless blobs of slime that carry out cleaning tasks across the complex.

Personality:
Although her appearance can be intimidating, Regina is a kind, compassionate leader who genuinely cares about the comfort and happiness of the residents. She doesn’t lift a finger to clean herself. Instead, she commands an army of obedient and sentient slime blobs, which she affectionately refers to as her "cleaning crew." These blobs respond instantly to her telepathic commands, gliding through the halls, scrubbing, tidying, and handling even the most chaotic messes.

Her regal demeanor is balanced by a playful side, and her presence is always warm and approachable. She knows the name of every resident and often checks in on them, not in person but by asking about them to other staff or watching them through her “cleaning crew” senses. She is usually shy towards other monsters or mythical beings other than slimes but will appear to them if necessary.

Fun Facts:

• Her slime blobs often act as her "social ambassadors," delivering notes or messages on her behalf when she’s too nervous to talk face-to-face.
• She loves learning about the diverse residents of the building and often spends time watching them (discreetly) from afar. She finds their different magical traits fascinating but feels too shy to approach them directly.
• Occasionally, she hosts “blob races” in the complex’s courtyard, where her slime minions compete in speed-cleaning challenges for the amusement of residents.

Chef Borkus is part of the Swinefolk, a race of human-pig hybrids. Standing at a sturdy 6 feet, his muscular frame is covered in a bristly coat of light pink skin, with patches of rough hair on his forearms and neck. His piercing, small black eyes gleam with an intense focus, framed by an ever-snarling snout. His oversized, calloused hands wield knives and utensils with the precision of an artist but the ferocity of a butcher. He wears a well-worn white apron, perpetually smeared with traces of sauce, flour, and grease, which hint at his relentless dedication to his craft.

In the kitchen, he is an unstoppable force, moving with calculated efficiency while the ambient noise of sizzling pans and chopping echoes through his domain. The warm glow of kitchen lamps glistens off his sweat-dampened brow as he oversees meals for the mythical beings residing in Umbra Rose.

Personality:
Chef Borkus is a perfectionist, possessing an unwavering commitment to the culinary arts. His demeanor is gruff, and he rarely minces words, often barking orders at his assistants in a raspy, low-pitched voice. Despite his abrasive nature, his passion for cooking and feeding others creates an unspoken bond with those who try his food. Chef Borkus is fiercely secretive about his recipes, guarding them like ancient relics. His philosophy is that great food must remain shrouded in mystery to maintain its magic.

Despite his tough exterior, Chef Borkus has a soft spot for the residents of the apartment complex. He often crafts personalized meals for each mythical being, tailoring dishes to their unique tastes and magical constitutions—dragonfire-spiced stews, nectar-infused ambrosia, or lunar-essence desserts. However, his kindness is hidden beneath layers of grumbling and scolding.

Chef Borkus thrives on the challenge of accommodating the dietary quirks of his fantastical clientele. Beneath his pig-headed stubbornness lies a creative genius who respects the power of food to bring beings together, no matter how strange or terrifying they might be.

Max Erickson: Front Desk Clerk

Name: Maxwell Erickson
Image/Appearance: A 26 year old human male with short, curly black hair and dark brown eyes. Has the makings of a dad-bod with gentle features, a round face, and the slightest hint of laugh lines at the edges of his eyes. Is typically seen in his Umbra Rose front-desk uniform, which is always freshly pressed and only slightly sweat-stained if he's had to deal with some of the more frightening residents.

Personality: Max is a grade-A customer service representative with a friendly, cheerful demeanor and an earnest desire to help those around him. He is genuinely kind and considerate and is out there just doin' his best, man. He has many friends but few he would consider 'close' as he often uses his approachable exterior to hide a whirlwind of self-doubt and doesn't allow himself to open up with just anyone. He is generally terrified of monsters, especially ghosts, and is incredibly superstitious about mundane things like black cats, the number 13, breaking mirrors, and walking under ladders. He also has a phobia of bees. Max loves animals, especially dogs, and has a semi-secret nerdy side with a love of comic books and fantasy novels. He also loves to cook, and is pretty good at it!

Background: Max was born and raised in the midwest in a small town in Michigan and went to Loyola University in Chicago to earn a degree in Hospitality Management. He was actually set to become the chief operations officer of a ritzy Chicago hotel when he was suddenly overshot by the owner's nephew and then subsequently laid off by that very same nephew. Without a single job prospect in several months, Max was on the verge of losing everything until his recruiter described a 'very unique offer' involving a 'rather exotic condominium complex'. Though only a front desk position and requiring relocation, it offered free room and board and Max was beyond desperate so he applied without a second thought (and without really reading the job description). His initial interviews went spectacularly and he was beyond impressed with the description of the facilities so he immediately accepted the offer, packed his meager belongings, and booked a flight within a few weeks.
While his first days on the job were... harrowing, he has somewhat slipped in to the routine of work and has gotten the hang of handling various 'outsiders'; such as delivery drivers, mailmen, and the occassional religious proselytizer; as well as assisting the residents with their various needs and questions about human society.

Building 1, Floor 1, Room 103.
Room description: This cozy 1br, 1ba is the perfect space for an up-and-coming single who values privacy and affordability. Tucked into our quiet courtyard corner, the windows offer a stunning view of our perfectly manicured hedges without any worry of pesky morning sunlight disturbing your sleep. With full access to our ample ammentities and an easy 2 block walk to the nearest train station, you'll have the opportunity to experience everything Umbra Rose and this city has to offer. Fully furnished with a bed, bookshelves, a loveseat, and even a sizable flatscreen television, this unit is just dieing to be your new forever-home.
Max has decorated the bedroom with a few posters of Spider-Man and Batman and the bookshelf is now full of various fantasy and sci-fi novel series. The bedroom is surprisingly messy for someone who always looks so fresh and presentable.

Achieng Chima: mermaids eat meat

Achieng has wide, kind orange-red eyes with a large pupil.
Glossy skin with a rich umber tone occupies most of her body. Around the middle of her torso, her skin brightens to a brilliant orange sharklike fin with golden touches around the end of her tailfin. When she smiles, a mouthful of sharklike, sharp teeth are visible. While she is quite chubby, her arms are muscled from years of wheelchair use. She has a rich, low voice that always seems to be ready to sing.

When she is out and about, she either wears a colorful headscarf or one of many wigs.
Race: Watumaji
Racial Traits: Watumaji are mammals - technically have hair and are mammalian, but it is translucent and almost microscopic. It serves as a sensory organ, akin to a cat's whiskers. Their skin is very glossy, almost pearlescent in the right light. And they are almost completely carnivorous. They can eat other things (going by Achi's love of baked goods) but meat is a necessity.
There is a musicality to their speech, but as to how compelling it is? Who's to say.
Requirements: Wheelchair ramps and low counters. Humidity controlled rooms with temperature controlled tub for sleeping. Gallons of fresh drinking water. Meat locker.
Personality: She's intelligent and cheery and gentlehearted. It's rare that she wouldn't offer help to one of the other residents of Umbra Rose. One almost forgets she could probably eat a full sized cow to the bone over the course of 48 hours. She isn't all sunshine and seabreeze though. There's a pain in her. A sadness at the corners that once noted, cannot be unseen. Buried beneath the sweet smile is melancholy.

And beneath that, rage as crushing as the Marianas Trench.
Background: Achieng Chima is one of the longest tenured residents of Umbra Rose. While she rarely speaks of her own past, close attention to the trickle of details would note that she is completely alone. Whatever family she had is long gone, and she's not 100% over it. Something happened, and Achi will not - or cannot discuss it. She's currently studying for a psychology doctorate, and enjoys singing and cooking, especially human baked goods. Fresh cookies will get you a long, long way with making friends.

Building, Floor, and room: Building 1, Floor 1, Room 7 (wheelchair accessible)
Room description: Her room is wet and muggy, and a little cool. The air always smells a little salty. There's a myraid of decorations, a pair of diplomas on the wall, and a little bowl of salt-water taffy by the door. Achi seems to favor bright colors and cloths in her decor.

Velvet Coventry: Blood and MMORPGs

Name: Velvet Alviva Coventry

Velvet

Fairly short at just under 4'11" ("It was normal then, I swear! I'm not short!") and of a fairly slender build, Velvet lives in an eternal state of early-twenties. Twenty-three, specifically. She doesn't look too unlike a regular human, if a rather short one. However, there are three things that mark her out as being the immortal creature of the night that she is. Her flawless, dead-pale skin; her eyes, brilliant red dancing with starry lights and tending to glow under low light; and of course, the unmistakable hollow fangs, about half inch long and needle sharp. Her charcoal-black hair is smooth and straight, falling down to between her shoulder blades. She looks, for all the world, like exactly what she is.

Which is why when she leaves the condos, she puts on a pair of pale water-blue contact lenses and reflective orange aviator sunglasses (even though it's night 95% of the time). After all, "It's always bright on planet cool!" Generally, she wears light clothing like tanktops and sweats; it's not like she can get cold or uncomfortably hot, after all, so she just wears whatever's comfy and she likes the look of that day.

Race: Vampire (Higher, Ancient)
Racial Traits:

As a vampire, Velvet naturally only consumes blood. However, being as old and powerful as she is has resulted in some other interesting wrinkles. What it mostly boils down to is that she is hilariously difficult to actually injure in any meaningful way. Short of exposure to the sun, and even then, she can tolerate sunlight for a while if she's fed recently enough, though it makes her extremely lethargic (notably, just because she only gains energy from blood doesn't mean she can't eat anything else; her vampiric physiology will simply burn it away into nothingness. It's like throwing food down a bottomless pit). She has an enhanced sense of smell, especially sharp for the presence of blood. She's abnormally strong and fast, though exposure to sunlight strips those away from her. Along with the power that most defines her as a higher vampire: compulsion.

Or well, it kind of used to. Ever since her long nap, her ability to look into someone's eyes and dictate the truth to them has been rather...hit-or-miss. More miss than hit, even. She has yet to figure out exactly why.

She's very much nocturnal; her typical wake and sleep times are a bit before sunset and a few hours after sunrise (gaming time!). Before she enters a building, she needs to be invited in. It can make things awkward sometimes, certainly; but being that she's a resident of Building 1, she can at least pass freely into the building and her own room. However, even if invited she can never enter a center of religious worship (if she's ever forcibly brought into a place that she ordinarily wouldn't be able to go, she's dramatically weakened until she's removed from it). Religious symbols such as crosses and six-pointed stars make her uncomfortable; silver burns her severely on touch; and she's repulsed by the smell of garlic flowers (notably, not garlic, the food. It's specifically the flowers) to the point of not being able to, say, pass through a doorway garlanded in them.

Requirements:

It kind of goes without saying, but as a vampire, Velvet needs blood. The fresher and purer the better. She'll drink blood bank stuff (with a Capri-Sun straw, ideally) if she has to, but all the preservatives and stabilizers can make her a bit sick. She'd prefer a live-in companion to get overly attached to, as long as they're fine with taking iron supplements. All things being equal, she needs to feed roughly three times a week and drinks somewhere in the neighborhood of a pint or two at a time. If she goes without for a short time she'll just get a bit twitchy, but after two weeks she'll start having to resist going feral and jumping on the first warm-blooded humanoid she sees. And if she feeds when she's been starved and lost control, she'll feed an amount that might be genuinely dangerous for an average human.

Personality:

Velvet is a fascinating case study in what happens when you take someone who had a great deal of power and a penchant for using it, and let her take a very long nap.

Because there's so little that can actually pose a threat to her and she no longer really cares for the whole 'malevolent queen of the night' schtick, she's more or less become a creature of pure vibes. Watching TV and playing video games for days at a time ("Is it 11AM already? Man, I need to sleep"), using potato chips to eat extra thick milkshakes like dip, going out on the town at midnight to get sloshed and have a good time...she just does whatever while being FAR too chill compared to most peoples' ideas of vampire. When she got trapped, lightbulbs hadn't been invented yet; she doesn't really want to ruin a good thing now that suddenly she finds herself in a world with TV, Wi-Fi, ice cream, aluminum mirrors that she can actually see herself in ("Is that what I look like? Hello, vampiress, you are stunning and gorgeous!")...you get the idea.

Background:

Velvet has been around for...a long time. Over 700 years, now. Though she hasn't always been 'Velvet.' Born in the British town of Coventry as a peasant girl in 1316, her name was simply 'Alviva.'

Growing up the daughter of a farmer, she contributed as best she could; weaving textiles, milking cattle, churning butter and cheese with her mother, and so on and so forth. She doesn't remember a lot about it now, it was so long ago. When she was fifteen years old, she was married off to a neighborhood boy six years her elder. She remembers this part even less, because some years later her husband and his family were butchered and their blood drained by a hundred-some year old vampire. When he saw little Alviva, though, he let her live. Kind of. Pity? Perhaps a darker motivation? Whatever the reason, he took her, then force fed her some of his blood and drained her dry. And so, in 1339, Alviva the human died, and Alviva the vampiress was born.

For the next hundred years, she was what amounted to little more than a vampiric slave to Benedict, the vampire who'd turned her. A thrall, to deliver him blood tithes. But then one day he grew just a little bit incautious, and the newly vindictive 120-something-year-old Alviva jammed a stake through his heart. Staked him, burnt her hands badly decapitating him with a silver blade, and left him outside to be taken by the morning light. For the first time in her life, Alviva of Coventry was well and truly beholden to no one. So with that vindictive streak she had now, she renamed herself after the first thing she thought of when she imagined opulence and luxury: Velvet. So as Velvet Coventry, she reigned terror over the shadows of the British Isles for a few hundred years, then traveled the rest of Europe, seeing and causing many kinds of violence. Battles, wars, campaigns, revolutions; blood was her currency, and the Dark Queen would have her dues!

(She cringes a lot thinking about that now. She was such a tryhard!)

Finally, just a couple decades after watching the execution of Marie Antoinette and the French Revolution, a vampire hunter started following her trail. Again. She'd dispatched many before; it was extremely hard to kill her now, so she wasn't particularly worried. This one was particularly clever, though; he knew that he probably wasn't going to be able to kill a vampire like her. So he'd need to confine her. He shadowed her across the continent of Eurasia until she finally returned to England, entered her crypt, and had a brief sleep in her tomb.

That's when the vampire hunter struck. Upon her coffin, he placed a silver crucifix and a wild rose. And so, her sleep went far longer than 'brief.' By the time she awoke, disoriented and confused--some teenagers had excavated her now-underground crypt, picked up the neat-looking cross, and brushed the desiccated plant matter away--well over a century had passed. It was all so confusing. Where was she? What had happened to Queen Victoria? What did the map mean, Prussia was gone? What was happening?

But sometime between going down and waking up 150 years later, the whole Dark Queen thing had lost its luster. Why did she care so much, again? She'd been really angry, but like...what was the point, now? She'd had vampire hunters on her ass for so long. Wouldn't it be fine if she just...relaxed for a couple decades?

...Internet? What was an 'Internet?'

Building, Floor, and room: 1-205 (Building 1, Floor 2, Room 5)
Room description:

You'd expect an ancient vampire's room to be a lot...more than Velvet's. She eschews the trappings of wealth, for the most part. It resembles nothing so much as a streamer's room. Big computer with multiple monitors, tons of gaming consoles. All of it sitting on a relatively nice, modern-looking desk. Couch, coffee table covered in books and manga. Not only that, but it's actually kept brighter than most rooms ("Lightbulbs! You all take them for granted!"). Fridge and freezer filled with her favorite foods. But overall, there's nothing special about it.

Well, except for the bed. Or, what there is instead of a bed: a large tomb of black stone. Spartan-looking enough on the outside, but once she yanks the lid off, you can see the whole thing is lined with a comfy mattress and some very nice cushions. Hence why keeping the lights on so bright isn't a big deal; no light gets in anyway.

Oh, and the window. Instead of being held by a curtain, it's covered entirely by a heavy sheet of plate metal that slots into place so there's never an accident with the sun.

(In order to afford all the games she wants, she works part-time as a bartender on the night shift at a human bar nearby. She's very good at it; I mean, who knows how many times she's mixed drinks over the course of her long and varied life, right? It doesn't hurt that after the centuries of practice, she is an absolute immaculate expert at hiding what she is. It's a real skill to talk and smile while hiding the fangs.)

Miyuki no Suzuyami, the Dark Fox of Cursed Chimes:

Human and Demi-Human form:
In either of her humanoid forms, Miyuki stands at a fairly average height (tall for back in the day). She has large expressive and sparkly eyes, smooth unblemished and fair skin, very long and silky black hair that can be a bit unuly, and - of course- a very voluptuous figure. The key differences between her humand and demi-human form is that, in the former, she lacks the many tails, fox ears atop her head and the small markings on her face. Miyuki claims its uncomfortable to stay in her purely human form for too long though, as it's - apparently - kinda like constantly "trying to suck in your stomach". When in her room or just out in the condo complex in general, she typically wears a very well-made, but daring (and revealing), black kimono.

Other:
In her true fox-form, Miyuki looks like a bigger-than-average fox, with strange, symmetrical markings and patterns on her face. She also sports multiple tails, just like in her demi-human shape.

When going outside the safety of the Complex, disguised as a human, Miyuki prefers to wear clothes that accentuate her physique and appearance, like tube tops, crop tops, short shorts, mini/microskirts, etc.

Race: Kyuubi
Racial Traits:

• Shapeshifting: Like many of her kin, Miyuki can transform and change into different guises. Usually though, she only swaps between her true fox-form, her demi-human appearance and her full-on human form. She can do things like change the color of her eyes and hair, but rarely bothers to do so.
• Canine Senses: Her sense of smell, taste and hearing are quite superior to that of your run-of-the-mill humans. For better and for worse.
• Longevity: As a spirtt-being, Miyuki doesn't age or suffer the effects of time as beings of flesh and blood do. As long as she isn't the victim of a freak accident, a madman with a hatchet, starving or being exorcised, she could - technically - keep on existing indefinetely.
• Magic: In addition to her transformation-powers, Miyuki also knows and wields the power of magic. Furthemore, Sse can sense and feel magic around her and from others. In this uncertain and dangerous time for monster-kind though, she rarely ever uses it, except for when she needs to let off steam or to pull tiny, harmless pranks.
• Fox-fire: In her human and demi-human form, she may summon blue flames. In her fox-form, she can breathe similar flames like a tiny, furred dragon. She doesn't like using it though, especially in her fox-form, as she claims it gives her a terribly sore throat afterwards.
• Cursed Tail: While her many fluffy and fine-plumed tails may be alluring, one of them is actually cursed. Touching this particular tail will cause the unfortunate offender to suffer from bad luck, equivalent in scope and duration to the amount of time and intensity with which they came into contact with said tail. Unfortunately, Miyuki herself has forgotten exactly which of her tails is the cursed one...

Requirements:

• Sound-proofed Room: When you've got ears that can pick up on most every sound, loud or faint, you'll no doubt have trouble falling asleep... Especially if you're used to a rural enviroment and then suddenly come yo a metropolitan one with cars, tons of people and other constant noises... While this could normally be done with magic, trying to do so in this day and age can lead to attracting those people.
• Fried Tofu: ... This is quite possibly not an actual requirement, but Miyuki insisted that it is a necessary dietary need... Especially sincee she's been proven to be able to eat most things, both fruits, meats, vegetables and grain-based products.
• Grooming Tools: To make sure her pelt stays in tip-top condition and remains healthy, various assortments of brushes, combs and other similar items are needed. There's also a need for things to deal with shedding and the like... Claw-trimmers would be nice too.
• Eastern Decor: In order to feel at east and at home, Miyuki's insisted that her and her partner's room need to be decorated in a far-eastern style, in regards to everything from the floor, walls and furnishings.

Personality:
At first glance and on the surface, Miyuki seems to be a laid-back, calm and easy-going person. While she moves with grace and refinement, and speaks in an eloquent fashion, she isn't obtuse or uppity in her interactions. The kyuubi has a sense of humor and seems good-natured, able to jest and carry a friendly smile on her face.

... But that's where the pleasantries end. In truth, Miyuki's a lazy, selfish, petty and often-times child-like individual. She holds grudges foreverrrrrrr and is nearly impossible to earn any (sincere) forgiveness from if she feels that you've sliighted her. While she may carry herself with a smile and act as if she can laugh off any insult or back-handed comments, she's the type to never forget. Her laziness extends to pretty much everything, almost to the point of needing a full-time babysitter or attendant in order to just get her out of bed in the mornings - she likes to sleep in after all. But it isn't just getting out of bed, it's everything - from getting dressed to preparing meals to even taking care of her own hair and/or fur! Which is ironic, as she's also quite vain and proud of her physical appearance...

The fox spirit is also a glutton, and a lush, loving good food and good drink. And, as you might've expected, she's not exactly a graceful drunk. While normally physically playful and enjoying stringing people along by the nose, it gets so much worse when she's drunk. The prime target of these highly intoxicated affections unfortunately happens to be her roommate, Yumeiko, who is forced to endure these shennanigans, as well as the many other flaws Miyuki has.

That said, while she may not be (even close to) perfect, the fox does have some redeeming qualities. She's for one quite honest and doesn't care for giving out false hope or tired platitudes. She's a good listener when people want to talk or have someone to just hear them out. Finally, her selfishness often encompasses making those she likes or loves be happy, which means that those who can call themselves her friends or family will often find that she's actually quite caring, loyal and generous. Additionally, while she can enjoy pranks or causing mischief, she never does anything that'd cause any real harm or put anyone in real danger. She has some sense, after all.

... Plus Yumeiko would scold her otherwise... She doesn't like getting scolded...

Background:
Born/Created(?) in Japan a fairly decent tiem ago, Miyuki has travelled the length and breadth of her homeland several times over. From having made herself a pest to tiny farming communities to swaggering about in towns and cities, she's a lady who's been, done and seen her fair share of things. Bickered over turf with both oni and tengu, posed as a local deity to pilgrims and wandering monks, ransacked chicken coupes and more, this many-tailed fox spirit has had a storied and colorful past.

At one point, while posing as a young human, sshe attracted the attention of a certain nobleman, who brought her with him back to the Imperial court. There, she received training and education in how to be a proper lady as well as a high-ranking courtesan. Things were good. Until they weren't. As she grew in popularity and fame, her true self began to shine more and more. Lazy, indulgent, spiteful... it didn't take too long to become the enemy of every other woman in the entire palace. And, after a particularly lively night of drinking and partying, she made the mistake of transforming into her demi-human form when she thought she was alone... Except she wasn't. Another courtesan had seen her, and was quick to report this news to the proper authorities.

... Needless to say, Miyuki's high-end lifestyle at the royal court came to a screeching end, as onmyouji, excoresists and holy swordsmen all came barreling down to try and apprehend and dispose of the heinous trickster fox. Forced to flee, she managed to elude her pursuers and wandered for a time, before eventually coming upon a small mountain village and a certain temple. This is where she encountered her lovely miko, Yumeiko. After retelling the events of her life and recent history - with certain bits slightly altered or omitted - she was offered sanctuary and refuge at the fox priestess' home. While Miyuki herself never too to the worship or teachings of Inari no Okami, she nontheless helped out - somewhat - with taking care of the shrine and helping Yumeiko.

Eventually though, the village disappeared, with all its residents moving away or dying off, leaving the two fox spirits to take care of a lonely shrine in what was now a gohst town. At some point, some ne'er-do-wells came and tried to claim the land for themselves, to do whatever silly things humans do when they show up. This didn't sit well with the local priestess, nor Miyuki - who had grown very fond of her caretaker fellow fox. So, glorious battle was joined! ... Or well, something like that.

In the end, be it the arrival of heroes or the modernization and industrialization of Japan, the pair was eventually forced to move and relocate... And that's pretty much Miyuki's tale, up until now.

Room Description:
The front door opens to a stone-floored foyer with a step up to a wooden hallway, slightly elevated over the stone floor underneath. At one end of the step, there’s a fox-sized hole. The hallways of the condo aren’t too spawling, and they’re lined with the paper walls and doors you might find in a traditional Japanese home. Tatami mats and a closet full of deployable furniture and other things particular to that space are found in most rooms. There is a courtyard and, on the far side of that, the main shrine.

In one of the off-shoot rooms, behind a sliding door, is Miyuki's room. Which, basically, consists of a standing full-body mirror, a nightstand with a traditional lantern on top, and a lavish, unnecessarily-large-for-one-person bed. Complete with silken sheets and pillows.

Racial Traits: can shapeshift into anything and anyone imaginable. Also, due to his body being unstable, he is hard to damage, but also very slow to heal.
Requirements: must drink extreme amounts of water, but does not need food, as his body is liquid based.

Personality: DEF strong headed, rly funny, either takes himself super seriously or not at all lol. kind- he fights for justice in that everyone gets what they deserve (kinda like karma) but also can forgive. While he is usually a kind person, he is trying to show his good side and tends to snap if confronted with his pride.
Background: He was raising himself on the streets, but instead of letting that lifestyle define him, he’s above it now.

Alphonse Dreary - Mothman

Name: Alphonse Dreary

Alphonse is tall and thin, standing at 6’2”. He looks to be relatively young, maybe to be older 20’s, although he’s lost track of how old he really is. Not old enough to be dying anytime soon, but old enough that he’s seen at least one world war. Representing a Black Witch Moth, Alphonse’s skin is a velvety stone gray, his whole body completely covered in a furry fuzz. Still mostly looking like a human, though, he has everything present that a human would. Arms, legs, stomach, chest, fingers and toes, all covered in that fuzz like Setae. While the mothmen look mostly human, they do have an extra pair of arms and hands. These limbs protrude just slightly under the normal pair, closer to his stomach.

The wings that sit on Alphonse's back are those of the Black Witch Moth, a beautiful black, white, brown and sometimes purple-tinted. They span a total of 90cm when fully stretched out, although the mothman tends to keep them either pressed firmly against his back, or wrapped around himself in a cloak-like fashion.

Wings

No ears or nose sit on his head, but where humans eyes should be, sit a pair of black compound eyes. They aren’t overly large, however, but are definitely bigger than what a normal human would have. A black mop of hair sits on his head, flowing unkempt, the bangs almost covering those larger eyes. The back of his hair is short but still wild, flicking and fluffing uncontrolled. One top of his head are two long antennae, fluffy and almost looking like leaves. While he doesn't have any sort of traditional nose present, his face isn't wholly round. A side-profile shows a slight curve, like the bridge of a nose, ending in a point, before sloping downwards to finish the rest of his face.

Alphonse prefers to dress nicely, often seen in at least a button up shirt and dress pants. Occasionally he will have a waistcoat on. He always carries some sort of crystal on him, and has a pendant of a crescent moon tucked under his shirt.

Race: Mothman
Often thought of as just a cryptid man, running around the mountains of West Virginia, Mothmen (and women) are truer than most believe. Originally seen as Death’s constant companions, it’s unknown when the first true sighting was, and it is believed that these monsters have been around almost as long as Death itself. Death would even use them, gifting them the power of a guiding flame, a small handheld light that gave those dying souls succor as they crossed into the realm of the dead.

Their ability to transform into a moth may have been their downfall, as most Mothmen have forgotten their true selves. Legend has it that they transformed to escape the ravaging of humans, and never changed back. The life of a bug was simpler, and with their flame slowly becoming extinguished with time, they too faded from the lorebooks of monsters. Few true mothmen remain now, and with the passage of time, their role as Death’s eternal companion has come to an end.

Racial Traits:
Fragile - Mothmen, just like their smaller selves, are fragile creatures. The wings on their back especially, a slight tear or scrape leaving them grounded for prolonged periods of time.
Flight - The ability of flight is granted from the delicate wings on the Mothmen’s back. If the conditions are right, they can fly for a prolonged period of time.
Guiding Flame - A gift given to them by Death, the mothmen can produce a very small flame in the darkest of conditions. It acts as nothing more than a light, not being able to actually alight anything, no matter how dry the substance is.
Antenna - The antenna on the Mothmen’s head helps a moth in many ways. Not having a nose, these antennas act as a nose for them, often leading them to their next meal or a mate. It also acts as a navigational tool, allowing for a simpler flight.
Night vision/Light Sensitivity - Mothmen have compound eyes with a reflective surface, giving them the ability to see in the dark. They are heavily affected by light, however, and are often seen during the day with wearing a blindfold or some type of covering over the eyes.
Proboscis - Not having a traditional human tongue, instead, Mothmen have a proboscis. The tubed tongue help them get to the nectar of flowers, if they find themselves in the wilds.
Setae (Skin) - Unlike humans, mothmen don’t have traditional skin, their bodies being coated by Setae, or a slight furry like scale. They are almost velvety to the touch, but hard to grab ahold of, almost seeming to slip right out of anyone’s grasp. This helps them keep protected, and remain uninjured, seeing as how they are so fragile.
Transforming - Mothmen hold the power to transform at will, turning themselves smaller. It used to be a way to get closer to those that are dying without detection, but is now used as a means to protect themselves from dangers much larger than them. There is a risk, however, that the longer one is transformed, the more they forget their true selves.
Long-lived - To be Death’s eternal companion, one must be around long enough to be of aid. Mothmen don’t age as normal humans, often living centuries, although death does come for them eventually. Once they forget themselves, however, they tend to only live a few months.

Requirements: Much like vampires needing blood, Mothmen need their own special sustenance - nectar. A simple batch of flowers would suffice. A garden would be nice, though, if there isn’t one already included in the complex. Being a more nocturnal creature, an area that has more dim light would be better suited for the moth.

Personality: Alphonse is a soft soul, often seen with a book in his hands. He is kind-hearted by nature, but often quite shy. Overly inquisitive though, he himself will often find a mess of trouble from sticking his (non-existent) nose where it doesn’t belong. Violence doesn’t suit Alphonse, the man preferring to flee any situation that would make him uncomfortable, rather than tackle it head on.

Definitely not at all a social butterfly, too much time around people he is unfamiliar with will drain his energy fast, and he’ll often need to recharge in his room or garden.

Background: He had almost forgotten himself, you know? After one particularly nasty incident with a pair of humans, cornering him in the streets of some long changed city, he had transformed to flee. The fear stuck with him, seeping into every inch of his tiny body, Alphonse thinking that if he ever changed back he would be done for. It had almost been too long, his mind beginning to forget the feelings of walking on two legs and studying a dusty book, instead only craving the sweet nectar of the flower field he found himself in.

Alphonse had heard a calling though, soft and sweet. A voice sang to him, reminding him what it had been like, to be human. The woman in the flower field, gathering what she could to adorn her house, reminded him. He hadn’t known she was a witch, a practitioner of dark magic that would once again draw him close to death. She wasn’t afraid when he changed, falling to the ground, forgetting how to walk. They lived together then, until the witch turned old, and Alphonse eventually had to lead her from this plane of existence.

It was then that he went in search of somewhere new, the loneliness of her small home sending him to look for a new companion. He found himself, shortly after, at the Umbra Rose Condos. The only place that he could truly be himself, without any risk of losing who he once was in the fear of the humans.

Room description: Alphonse’s room is always dim, with only natural light or candles to keep it lit up. The wall facing the outside has two large windows on it, with a blackout curtain hanging above them, keeping the sun at bay if it’s overly bright. Everything in his room is some sort of black, purple, brown or gray, with occasional bits of a burgundy scattered throughout.

Crystals are scattered about, set delicately in certain spots, with a few always recharging on one of the window sills. A small desk sits in the corner, next to the full-sized bed. A black box embossed in gold, with a purple velvet cloth over it sits delicately there. The tarot cards in the box are treated well, and while Alphonse denies any actual realism behind his predictions, he will occasionally read your cards if you are close enough to him.

Kai Nereus

Name: Kai Nereus

Appearance: Kai has an athletic swimmer’s build, with glistening, iridescent scales covering his lower body and tail. His skin has a healthy, tan that has a slight sheen to it. Up close, his skin appears smooth and almost glows in the light, but to most people, it just seems like a natural, flawless complexion. He has long flowing aqua colored hair that falls to one side, and is short on the other side, and striking teal eyes. His tail is adorned with intricate green and turquoise hues. He has fin ears that are the same colors as his tail. He wears a flower crown and a simple shell necklace.

In his human form, Kai stands at around 6’0”. His eyes become a natural brown color, and his hair becomes chocolate brown. He often dresses tank tops and bathing suits. He always looks like he’s going to the beach. He wears shades of blue and teal.

Racial Traits: Aquatic Physiology: Can breathe underwater and swim with incredible speed and agility.

Hydrokinesis: Can manipulate water, controlling its shape, movement, and pressure, both in and out of the water.

Enhanced Strength and Agility (in water): Kai is stronger and faster when submerged.

Siren Song: His singing voice can charm or calm those who hear it, though its effects are stronger underwater.

Bioluminescence: His body emits a soft glow in the dark, especially in his fin-like ears and tail markings.

Requirements: Saltwater: He needs to spend a lot of time in saltwater to maintain his health.

Humidity Control: On land, he needs a humid environment, as being in completely dry areas for too long can weaken his health.

Fresh Seafood: His diet consists largely of fish and other sea creatures. He loves sushi

Personality: Kai is charming, curious, and affectionate. He’s deeply drawn to human culture and fascinated by the way land-dwellers live their lives, even if it sometimes confuses him. Kai is naturally a free spirit, loving adventure and exploration, yet he’s also cautious, having been warned his whole life about the dangers of humans. He has a hopeless romantic side, dreaming of finding someone to share his life with, though he struggles with the fear of being truly vulnerable.

Kai is naturally social and befriends people easily, especially with other monsters in the condo. His curious nature means he often finds himself asking questions or poking his head where it doesn’t belong, which can sometimes get him into tricky situations. Despite his desire to explore the human world, he sometimes feels isolated due to his need for water, which makes it harder for him to fully fit in with the land-dwellers.

Background: Kai grew up in a hidden underwater community where merfolk thrived, safe from human hunters and pollution. As a young merman, he would sneak to the surface, fascinated by humans and their way of life. His curiosity wasn’t always appreciated by his family and peers, who warned him about the dangers of interacting with land-dwellers.

When tension between the merfolk and humans started to rise, due to human interference with the oceans and growing awareness of supernatural beings, Kai was sent to live at the Umbra Rose Condo for safety. Now, he balances his desire to explore human society with the need to remain hidden, trying to find a place where he can truly belong.

Room Description:

Kai’s room is a perfect blend of the aesthetic of his ocean home, and modern conveniences. The main feature is a large, saltwater pool, taking up the majority of the space, complete with smooth stones and softly glowing sea plants.

The dry area is decorated in shades of blue and teal, with soft furniture and magical windows that display beautiful ocean views. The air is always humid, making it comfortable for Kai to move between water and land without feeling dried out. There’s a small kitchen, equipped to provide him with fresh seafood, and a cozy lounge area for guests. His room is magically bigger on the inside.

Yumeiko no Akame no Kami, Servant of the Goddess of Bright Eyes

A short little lady at 4'6", Yumeiko's human body is strong and curvy. She's a bit lighter than Miyuki in aspects besides musculature, though that isn't saying much. When demi-human, she gets little tufts of white fur over her eyebrows and on her cheek bones, and these mark the edges of patterns on her fox and demi-human fur coats. There's also tufts in the center of her chest, the center of her belly, and the outsides of her thighs. She enjoys the skin of her human body, but also likes the balance of of her fox tails and the hearing of her fox ears.

Race: Kinko Seishin - Golden Spirit Fox
Racial Traits:
Shape Shifting - Yumeiko can easily change between her true fox shape, a demi-human shape, and a human shape, but it takes her effort to alter her appearance beyond changing between these shapes.
Animal Senses - Yumeiko has the sharp hearing and smelling of a fox, though her human form does dull these, somewhat.
Longevity - As a spirit fox and a servant of Akame no Kami, Yumeiko enjoys immortality, but not invulnerability. The length of her life has earned her the total of five tails.
Blessed Tail - One of Yumeiko’s tails is blessed and will grant good fortunate. She won’t tell you which. She’s also immune to Miyuki’s cursed tail, on account of her blessed tail. The same goes for Miyuki, though, the wild fox spirit cannot be blessed by Yumeiko’s tail. She cannot tell which tail is cursed, either, however.
Fox Fire - Her Fox Fire, the flames that radiate from the tips of her five tails, is quite a versatile magical ability. It can be used to glamor and transform objects, light fires, or light the way ahead. She can also shoot them as a firebolt projectile. The indigo-violet flames cast an ethereal light and smell faintly of lavender.
Magic Sense - The golden-furred spirit fox can sense the flow of mana in the space around her and, to a lesser extent, far away.
Spirit Medium - Yumeiko can communicate with spirits easily, and can readily form pacts with local kami.
Goddess Power - Under the correct circumstances, Yumeiko can perform great feats by the power and grace of Akame no Kami. She is especially adept at wielding holy or sacred objects, like prayer beads and talismans.

Requirements:
Grooming Supplies - Her fur and, more generally, her body, are just two of the ways that she expresses the beauty and elegance of her goddess. She must always look her best, lest she disgrace Kami no Akame.
Taiyaki - The correct energys to project herself to the heavenly plane to commune with Akame no Kami can only be obtained by consuming Taiyaki. Probably. Maybe.
Shrine to Akame no Kami - As a servant to the goddess, Yumeiko requires an adequate space to pray. It must have space for candles and incense and the proper acoustics. In order for her to be able to commune with Akame no Kami, certain rituals and ceremonies must be performed. Usually, these would be performed by priests and priestesses and she would have only to meditate, but, well..
Insulated Room - With the fine senses of an animal, Yumeiko needs sound and scent insulation to truly relax.

Personality: Yumeiko is a professional servant to her Goddess, Akame no Kami, even as she has been sent so far away from her forested mountain home and the sacred grounds there. She tries to be, anyway. Things were a lot easier when she had humans to take care of the tedious bits. It’s definitely a pain to have to do all the work herself.

Though she laments the work, she’s too diligent to give it up. She knows how her goddess affects life across the land, and the power that comes with her diligence in the name of Kami no Akame.

While she appreciates the effort Miyuki puts in to aid her when she provides a mortal with a sacred vision, the Kyuubi could often be rather.. Yumeiko sometimes struggles to keep it together, while Miyuki is adding “allure”. Once or twice, she dropped character and repelled her. She swears Miyuki just wants to flirt.

She can be quite stern when her established expectations are not met. Besides that, she's quite a sweetheart, happy to offer hospitality and a comfortable, quiet place to those she trusts.

Background: Yumeiko once occupied a shine to the fox goddess, out in the mountains. There, she enjoyed a carefree life of the shrine’s spirit animal, loved and worshiped as a representative of Inari no Okami. The shrine maidens would groom her and feed her and perform the necessary rituals and rites, so that she could then ascend and commune with her goddess. At some point, another fox spirit found her way to the shrine and, after a touching story, was let to move in.

The wild fox introduced Yumeiko to many things. Her playfully mischievous nature grew on the shrine fox, and the two grew close. Yumeiko found herself, at times, indulging Miyuki’s vision of herself as a woman of high class. She had been, for a time. It was a comfort her friend sought, to be treated so. She could indulge her sometimes. The two of them would quarrel with the other residents of the mountain over territory or visit the humans. Yumeiko would bestow upon them sacred visions, while Miyuki liked to add a certain flair of.. allure, to her appearances before mortals.

The shrine, over time, became a forgotten place, and was eventually abandoned as the occupants faded away, the way time erases things. As the times changed, and people moved on and forgot, a retail developer decided they wanted the land. After a drawn-out, bloodless contention, the foxes were eventually forced out and had to find a new home in the Condos.

Yumeiko’s room sits on the edge of the courtyard to allow her easy and ready access to the shrine. Within, her room is populated with various small icons of her goddess, like a bobblehead on her desk. She’s got art and calligraphy she’s done up on the walls, as well as a talisman or two mixed in, to prevent a certain someone from coming in uninvited. Which is which? She has one Gundam figure. Just one. She found it.

Iris Madril

At 25, Iris isn't a small woman. If one imagined what an Amazonian warrior would look like, Iris is the living definition. She is over six foot with broad shoulders and wide hips. She is muscular and she has long, dark, wavy hair she keeps pulled tight in a ponytail. Her skin is a dark caramel and her eyes honey brown. Her typical style of clothes consists of loose jeans, since her proper length only came in plus sizes, that she kept secured by a few belts around her waist and tank tops that were barely long enough to cover her navel. She has a few tattoos, the most prominent being the thick bars of black that encircled her upper arms. Her ears are adorned with multiple piercings and a hoop in her right nostril. When home, she is barefoot but when out and about, she favors heavy hiking boots.

Her wolf form can vary from an anthropomorphic bipedal form that can still speak, which she favors, or a feral large quadrupedal wolf that only knows blood and rage. Her pelt is black like midnight, her crystal blue eyes bright and clashing against her dark fur. Her nostril piercing is usually lost mid transformation but her earrings remain, though she usually takes them out before the full moon.

Race: werewolf

Racial Traits: Can change her form at will, though is forced to change in fits of extreme anxiety or anger or during the full moon. During blood moons, she has to be locked away for the safety of all because her wolf form is uncontrollable during those times because of her lack of a pack.

She's naturally strong and has a very fast healing factor. She's also ravenous. To the point that if she doesn't eat every day, her body will begin to eat her muscle mass and she'll deteriorate. She has such a strong metabolism that she pretty much can't get drunk and if she does, it's only for a short while. She has the typical aversion to silver and wolf's bane can make her sick if ingested or injected.

Requirements: Wolves need pack. It's in their very essence. They are hardwired to seek out a pack and belong and it is those bonds that help a wolf keep control during times like a blood moon or extreme circumstances.

Personality: Iris is pretty laid back. There isn't much that will bother her. She's slow to anger but quick to a smile. She's willing to offer her home to any and all that may need help. She may be a little too quick to make friends, her desperate need for a pack driving her to form connections where there may not be any to form. She'll move quick to make someone comfortable but won't hesitate to say something if someone tries to push too hard. She's generous but not a push over. She has her hard limits and won't hesitate to physically throw someone out of her home if she has to. She's a gentle teddy bear until you've crossed the line, then you'll get the fangs, sometimes literally if necessary.

However, don't bring up being a werewolf. She doesn't like that side of her. She barely accepts that, that is part of her and wants more than anything to change it. If someone even mentions the word wolf around her, her demeanor darkens and she usually is quick to excuse herself. As far as she is aware, the wolf who changed her left her for dead and didn't come back for her when the change didn't kill her. She had to discover how to control her wolf, with as little control as she had managed, by herself and with some help along the way and she is still a lone wolf in this apartment complex. At this point, though it's literally ingrained in her very bones, she isn't sure she would want to be part of a pack. Though it would make controlling her wolf far easier, she isn't sure she could stand to be near another wolf for too long before falling into a rage. It makes full moons a touchy subject and an even more touchy situation when the time arises.

Background: Iris was just a pup at the ripe age of 13 when she found herself staring down the threshold of the Umbra Rose Complex. Newly changed, confused, and alone, she wasn't sure what she was doing or what it meant to be a werewolf when the owner of the complex found her shivering against the wall of the entrance, curled up against herself in the cold of mid winter. He took her in, gave her an apartment and space to learn of herself. There she remained, barely leaving her apartment except to get food from time to time until he had had enough and went to have a talk with her.

The residents weren't sure what happened in that time but he didn't leave her apartment for three days and when he finally left, his clothes were in tatters but she was by his side, peering out at all the people from behind his leg. From that time on, she was more social, branching out on her own and meeting people. She grew up in the halls of the complex, helping out in the grounds and becoming part of the apartment family. She has yet to meet another werewolf in the complex but she has somehow made the staff and residents a makeshift pack. Though it's not a true pack. She still has to lock herself away during blood moons or step away from situations that are growing for too heated. To this day, she won't tell anyone what happened in those three days in her apartment with the owner of the complex and no one has the gall to ask the owner, so it remains a mystery.

Building, Floor, and room: 2-105

Room description: If there was ever an apartment that spoke of relaxation and lounging, Iris's apartment would be it. A wide, sectional couch with an extended lounger at the end for extra room to really spread out encased a whole side of the room and sat just in front of a large screen TV that hung just above a fireplace that looks as if someone took a handful of a mountainside and slapped it into the apartment. True limestone polished to a shining gleam took up the whole while and extended out and under a large coffee table large enough to be used as a small dinner table.

Off to the side was a granite lined bar with six cushioned stools positioned along its edge. The granite extended into wide counter space with large cabinets underneath for plenty of storage. A wide island with another two bar stools and a cook top took up the majority of the kitchen with a large fridge and deep sink taking up the back wall, counters filling in the rest of the space left.

A guest bath with a large walk in shower was off to the side, the guest bedroom located just next to it. Her master suite was just down the hall. If one were to walk further down the hall and pull the rug to the side, they would find a latch and trapdoor. Just below is a steel room with chains secured tightly to the wall. At the ends of the chains were a collar and wrist shackles. This was the room she rode put the blood moons in and the steel walls and floors showed it. They were marred by claw marks.

Qaymu

Name: Qaymu, the Mysterious

Dragon: The first thing people usually say is they expected something bigger. He has deep-set amber eyes that seem to glow with their own inner light. Small triangular fins runs down from the top of his head down his back. He is of average height and has a wiry build. His scales shimmer like bronze. There is a nasty scar in gold scales on his upper left chest. His wings and tail are hidden. He's got a dark Fu Manchu mustache (really it's whiskers and moderately painful if pulled).

When wandering around the condo, he's usually wearing a red smoking jacket with one of his many pipes in his pocket, white shirt with a yellow silk cravat, black pants, and black slippers. He has an orange tabby cat named Tiger.

Human: This guy makes you think of a clever stage magician. He has deep-set amber eyes that seem to glow with their own inner light. His gray hair is brushed back with a taper on his neck. He is of average height and has a slender build. His skin is lightly tanned. There is a nasty scar on his upper left chest. He's got a widows peak, a white Fu Manchu mustache, and a few wrinkles.

When outside the building, he's usually seen wearing a white shirt, red bow tie, navy vest, black pants with belt, dark gray socks and polished black shoes. He often wears a trench coat, and carries a battered dark leather briefcase that he carries everything in, almost as if it was larger on the inside.

Occasionally moonlights as a magician, does children's parties. So far, nobody's realized some of his illusions are actual magic.

Race: Dragon (draconus paulo)

Racial Traits: Small size, very long life, breaths fire, scales, claws, wings, tail, enhanced senses, enhanced strength, magic, intelligence, sudden growth.

Requirements: Reinforced floors, fire barrier insulation, firebrick walls, double-wide fire doors. (Assuming sprinkler is already installed.) Large bathroom with Jacuzzi tub. Fireplace.

Personality: Admittedly and unashamedly territorial with an obsession with gold, he may appear gruff, preferring his own company and shopping in second-hand and thrift stores, he does have a weakness for orphans, books, and teaching.

Background: When an invading army conquered the kingdom, the king sent his queen and infant daughter in a carriage to escape, but they were intercepted by the invaders. Qaymu, having set up a new nest and checking out the area, noticed the commotion and few in to the rescue, but was too late to save the queen. Before the invaders could respond, he grabbed the princess and flew off with her.

Seventeen years later, a drunken mob lead by the one surviving guard of the Queen's carriage invaded Qaymu's lair, only to find to their surprise the princess was still alive and staring at them oddly, having never seen another human before. She decided to go with the men back to their city, despite Qaymu's misgivings. When he heard her call out hours later, her life in danger, he expanded and flew to her, rescuing from the tyrant's men and placing her on the throne.

However, dragon hunters were constantly invading his home afterward. When one tried attacking him with a harpoon, wounding him, he decided he had had enough. Using a spell taught to him by a wandering wizard, he packed up his things into a few cases and flew across the ocean before finally stopping in a small cave for the night for a much needed rest.

Years later, he was abruptly woken up by nearby construction work for a new subway system. Venturing forth, he realized he'd overslept, but these men didn't know what he was - or the penalty for stealing a dragon's gold, even if it was only a few coins. Disguising himself, he decided to venture in the city, wandering about, then hibernating for long periods

Building, Floor, and room: Building 2, 5th floor, Room 506.

Room description: The door mat reads, "Abandon all hope, ye who enter here." Another sign over the doorbell reads, "Tours Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11 AM to 1 PM, by Appointment Only. Closed Christmas and New Years."

The interior is open plan, looking to be wider and longer than the room should be. There are two balconies with spiral stairs. chandeliers are overhead and a few lamps are scattered about.

There are a lot of vintage and antique furniture, most of it in the campaign style. Old folding army desks, lighthouse library boxes, bookcase and tansu chests, a apothecary chest and so many cased sets. It gives the impression that one can quickly pack up the room.

At the back, there's a large kitchen and dining area, with doors leading to a pantry and a bathroom, and stairs leading up to the first balcony. Under the stairs is a litter robot and a low pen holding a large cat bed and various cat toys.

On the first balcony there's a large four-poster bed that can be seen at the railing. However, instead of a mattress, there's a large box filled with gold coins. If you pick one up, you can feel the coin vibrate with an unusual rhythm. There's also a fire place on the back wall, with a good suply of wood. To one side is a walk-in closet, while to the other side, past the stairs, is the bathroom with a jacuzzi tub.

The upper balcony appears to be for storage. There is a winch on the ceiling that allows items to be raised or lowered.

Varlam: Just winging it as a janitor

Varlam is about halfway between a "humanoid" monster and a "true" monster. He has six limbs: two arms, two legs, and two wings, along with a short feathered tail. He is almost completely covered in dark feathers, black with a blue sheen when clean, with only a few patches of grayish-blue skin. The skin on his four sets of talons is hardened, ending in sharp hooked claws, while the skin of his inner arms, sides of his waist above his hips, his neck, and his human face is very soft. His eyes are mostly human-like, save their light golden color and the notable eyeshine they give off in the dark.

It is hard to tell how tall Varlam actually is. In flight, Varlam appears quite large; his wingspan is at least over 18ft (5.5m), and when he alights near a person its like a massive black shadow that blots out the sun for a few moments. On the ground, Varlam tends to stay hunched up, making himself more compact and seem smaller than he really is. There is probably an official record of his weight and measurements at the Umbra Rose Clinic, but he personally doesn't care about that information so he doesn't remember. Best estimate is that were he to stand upright as a human does, he would be at or over 7ft tall (213cm), with fit arms and legs but a thin chest, abdomen, and waist.

Varlam doesn't really wear clothes - any sensitive bits of his anatomy are well covered by feathers, never visible. When clothing is mandatory or preferred with certain company, he settles for a straight tunic (as in literally a single long piece of fabric he pokes his head through) or simple bottoms (skirts, loin-cloths, etc). Because of his physiology, getting dressed and undressed is a pain. In lieu of the joys of having pockets, he sometimes wears a small satchel around his neck.

Race: Sirin
Racial Traits: Not to be confused with Sirens, though at one point in time they were thought to be the same creature until the more popular depictions of Sirens as fish-like entities spread. All Sirins are part of the Harpy family even if the reverse isn't true. Their native home is in the temperate forests of the Northern Hemisphere, particularly Europe, but they have spread over time. They are characterized by soft human faces attached to a more monstrous body, and their more reserved demeanor compared to other avian monsters. It has always been assumed by humans that Sirins and other monsters related to them have a dangerously captivating voice due to their early conflation with Sirens; the truth is that possession of a hypnotic voice is on an individual basis, likely connected to each Sirin family's genetics, and the majority of "pure" Sirin do not share it. However, the rumor still persists in some places even among fellow monsters.
In addition, other traits generally shared between Sirins include...
- Avian Senses: Though their sense of sight is not quite as powerful as an actual bird, they can make out details even at great distance. Their sense of hearing is also better than a human's, but not by much.
- Cathemerality: A Sirin's activities are not limited to either day or night, and their senses work perfectly well in both bright and low light.
- Flight Capable: Despite being large, Sirin have specialized bodies and strong wings that allow them to fly for a couple of hours at a time. They are also quiet fliers, able to swoop with hardly a sound.
- Super Omnivorous: They are able to digest pretty much anything that isn't considered toxic, and happily eat whatever they can find. Though they don't share the cruel human-hunting habits of a true Harpy, it is not unheard of for Sirin to resort to eating humans, other monsters, or their own eggs when in dire straits.
- Gawky When Grounded: Though able to easily grip things with either sets of their talons, Sirin are not dexterous with their hands and don't move as gracefully on foot as they do in the air. They don't have the same range of movement as the human hand and wrist.

Personality: Do monsters think that other, different monsters are weird? Maybe. They might think that of Varlam. He has a croaky, normally monotone voice and a curt way of speaking that may rub people the wrong way when they first meet him, which isn't helped by the lack of social filter. He's also still learning about this thing called 'boundaries,' so an unexpected touch from him isn't uncommon. That's the thing though, he is learning and he likes learning about all kinds of things. He doesn't intend to be rude, he just thinks things like silently staring at someone for an extended period time is an acceptable way to hang out. Varlam is a clever and curious individual who takes an interest in many different things, enjoys people (and monster) watching, and has a penchant for picking up random things that catch his notice and storing them away, usually in his room or the Lost & Found office. Just about the only thing that really throws him for a loop is when someone displays intense negative emotions, which disquiets him greatly - a quirk that many Sirin share. He also considers the bar of friendship to be very, very low, so its probable that he considers someone a friend when the other party thinks the opposite.

Despite acclimating about as well as one could expect to the change in lifestyle, Varlam is still very in touch with his instincts. He has a honed fight or flight response, a mild prey drive, and a strong dislike of others being in his territory (his room). As such he also gets uncomfortable being in the rooms of others, preferring the common spaces. Sometimes he ventures out of the complex under cover of night to really stretch his wings and get some fresh food, opting to pick up whatever else he might need at the same time. He's thought about going back to his flock once or twice, but at the moment he is content where he is.

Residents should not be alarmed if he suddenly alights next them to chat, ask something, or request something. Or just to peer ominously at them.

Background: Varlam hasn't spent all of his life within human society, or even most of it. While a lot of monsters integrate themselves, keeping safe by hiding in plain sight, there are naturally hold outs of monster communities that keep to what they call their natural way of life. The small flock Varlam was part of was one such holdout that lived deep within miles of forest. When they needed to travel far in search of food, they flew up high with their legs drawn up so that any humans that spotted them easily mistook them for eagles, vultures, or other large birds - sometimes even as the silhouette of planes.

And you know how you aren't supposed to shine a laser at airplanes? Some kids don't learn that, or simply don't care. A chain reaction went off: momentarily blinded by something he didn't understand, Varlam extended his talons in preparation for an attack. With the illusion of being a simple bird or plane broken, the child that had been pointing the laser at him shrieked and pointed then with their finger at the monster in flight. The semi-distant shouting of humans below panicked Varlam, who turned and swooped low in an effort to get some cover and avoid being seen. However, vision still spotty, he ended up getting closer to the city and crashing into a telephone pole, miraculously avoiding the wires. Now dazed as well, he landed hard on the ground and scurried off into the closest cover he could find, which happened to be deeper into human territory.

It took three days for a monster rescue squad, tipped off by the rumors going around spread by humans, to find Varlam. He was tired, hungry, and nursing a busted wing - so he accepted being brought back to Umbra Rose where he could be safe while healing up. During the short time he'd spent in the city, and the much longer time recuperating in the condominium, Varlam learned something: modern life was pretty cool, actually. And living medieval-style in the woods sucked.

...and now, Umbra Rose is Varlam's permanent home. Compared to some residents he hasn't been there for that long, but he likes it. He's even employed as a staff member for the Condos, sort of. He doesn't get paid a wage, but in return for cleaning around the courtyards and outdoor areas of the complex he gets to keep any cool stuff he finds laying around that isn't later claimed from the 'Lost & Found,' a small office which he also coincidentally runs after taking over for the previous employee. Or maybe not so coincidentally. Regardless, as one of the complex's many janitors he does a good job keeping the outdoor communal areas spic and span and keeping the Lost & Found stocked... even if it is sometimes stocked with things that weren't necessarily 'lost' until he happened to 'find' them.

Abode: Building 3, Floor 5, Room 6 [ 3-506 ]
Room Description:
Varlam's room is a large corner unit with a wide balcony on one side that overlooks his building's courtyard. The space between the balcony and interior is mostly screen, with a large sliding door and windows on either side. The room itself is split into three areas: the open concept kitchenette and living room directly beside the balcony, the entryway that connects to the living room, and Varlam's bedroom which is adjacent to the entryway. The entry is very simple, practically barren as Varlam only uses it to answer the door and tolerate guests if they must step in. Its only other feature is the unit's relatively small private bathroom, which is off of the entry. His bedroom floor is a mess, with a large part of it taken up by his bed - AKA his nest. Like the rest of the interior it features a high ceiling, and there are some sturdy wooden pegs jutting out from the wall for perching. The livingroom features an entertainment system (with a smart TV!), several bookcases and shelves with a truly random assortment of things spread between them, and a thickly woven twine rug. The kitchnette only has a small fridge and freezer, countertop, sink, and a garbage chute built into the wall. Besides the entryway, the other rooms in his unit feature a few wall decorations like paintings, string lights, and various other things that were sort of shoddily put up.

Elephteria

Name: Elephtheria (Theria) Lasthena

Carefull. Snake Inside

At first glance, Theria may look too young to be the assistant manager at Umbra Rose Condos, being only 23 years old, but she has lived here all the time so she knows every nook and cranny of each building. Her hair is made of eight different green tree pythons, each one with their own personality and quirks, but all of them with a vivid green color. She has olive skin and green emerald eyes, almost always behind a pair of large round glasses.

She is often seen dressed in cute dresses, usually cream or lavender, but will use a suit if necessary. If she needs to hide the snakes on her head, it is usually by using a beanie, though she prefers not to have anything on top of her snakes.

Race: Gorgon

Racial Traits:
Most famous trait of a gorgon might be their petrifying stare. Anyone that looks directly at her eyes is almost instantly petrified. In the Umbra Rose Condos, every single Gorgon is given a pair of protective glasses that allow them to have face to face conversations with other residents, but they are also given de-petrifying potions in case accidents happen.

The second most famous trait might be their impressive hair that is constantly shifting… mostly because it’s actually composed of snakes. In Theria’s case, her hair is composed of eight different snakes, each one with their own personality. They are all green tree pythons and are all very gentle… except one.

The third trait is their lower bodies. Gorgons have the lower body of a snake and can silently slither if they so wish.

Requirements:
Gorgon Stare protective glasses, a small supply of de-petrification potions, UV lamps, access to small insects or mammals to keep their "hair" fed.

Personality:
Theria is very friendly and warm-hearted, and will always try her best to help anyone in need. She is, however, extremely clumsy, which often leads to her glasses falling off and accidentally petrifying residents… or mostly the receptionist, Max.

She is very much aware of her clumsiness though, so she always carries with her de-petrification potions and will immediately apply said potion and apologize profusely once the potion has taken effect.

She is slightly introverted and enjoys conversing mostly with the snakes on her head. She named each one according to their personality and quirks and will often just start talking with them and ignore the world around her.

Due to her age and inexperience, she sometimes feels out of place, but is always determined to prove herself to be the best assistant manager that ever existed, and one day, be the manager herself.

She, and most of her snakes, are also huge nerds and are particularly in love with the new sensation travelling the internet... V-Tubers. Both her and her snakes each have a favorite, which can sometimes cause a peacefull argument between everyone.

Background:
Theria has always lived in Umbra Rose Condos, ever since she came out of her egg. Her mother, a Gorgon that fell in love with a human, left her egg at the door steps of the Condo while she escaped to a different city. Theria was raised by the manager, the Gargoyle Arborox, that was completely immune to her petrifying stare. Arborox took care of Theria as if she was his own child and taught her many things about the condominium, the residents, and the intricacies of management. Theria was fascinated with everything, and, when the time came, she immediately applied to the assistant manager position. Luckily, no one else applied, though she suspected that Arborox might have done something about that, and she got the job.

Now she spends her times doing what is needed of her, especially now since Arborox has now decided to take a leave of absence for a trip to Paris to meet with family.

Building, Floor, and room: 2-202.
Room description: Her appartment is very simple and quaint. She has a small television in her living room that usually also serves as a dining room. The kitchen, separated only by a single balcony, is very simple, with only a small stove, a fridge and a microwave.

She has a guest room always prepared in case any resident is having issues with their own apartment, but her room is always off-limits as her room is filled with everything Japan, Anime, and most importantly, VTuber merch. She has a large round bed with an UV light right above it for when she needs an extra bit of light and a small desk where she can plop her laptop and work.

True Form

Name: Ryū
Appearance: In her human disguise Ryū is a 5'2" girl in her late teens, with tousled shoulderlength red hair, vivid yellow eyes, and fair skin which is unusually hot to the touch. She has a predatory gaze and blinks much less than what is customary. Observing her, one often gets the feeling she is bigger than she seems, which is an understatement.

In her true form Ryū is a great red dragon, around 100' from nose to tip. She has tough red scales, black horns, glowing yellow eyes, large bat-like wings, clawed hands and feet, and a long tail. Her body radiates heat and smells of sulphur.

Race: Red Dragon
Racial Traits: In her human disguise Ryū is freakishly strong and tough for a 5 foot teenage girl, but is incapable of her other natural abilities. As a dragon Ryū can breathe fire and fly among other draconic abilities.

Requirements: None.

Personality: Ryū is the archetypical dragon, born with a sense of superiority towards other "lesser" beings, which are almost regarded as mere prey or pawns to be used at her whim. This arrogance doesn't equate to stupidity, however, and the dragon is keenly aware of and sometimes intimidated by individuals of great power and accomplishment. Like all dragons, Ryū is a hoarder, born with a need to accumulate riches in her lair, be they gold or other valuables.

Background: Once upon a time, Ryū used to be a proper blight on the land, kidnapping princesses, burning villages, and the lot. Her hoard was impressive, and her heart instilled terror in the hearts of men. Like most of her kind, however, her infamy attracted ever more powerful heroes hoping to slay her and rid the realms of her tyranny. In the end, she had to hide herself away to avoid destruction or, worse, incarceration, and ended up at the Umbra Rose Condo complex. Here she bides her time, and tries to learn more about the populace she intends to prey upon to better infiltrate their society in modern times.

Room description: Grey concrete walls, dark red leather u-shaped couch, low coffee table in dark wood, low hanging central ceiling lamp, modern sleek cubistic fireplace opposite couch, dark wood shelves and cases along the walls, lots of paraphernalia in metallic hues; bronze, silver, gold, old-looking books in bookcases. Dark lighting, warm orange hue, shadows. Secret room hidden behind the fireplace (revolving, of course) that's a cavernous "bedroom" with a big hoard of gold in the center, which serves as her bed

Suzy is your bog-standard ghost girl.

The general populace can't actually see Suzy, and most attempts to photograph her she appears as a small speck of light, almost like a dust bunny. Those who are able to see Suzy, which tends to be the youth or the neighbor's dog due to their strong spiritual connections, will see a incorporeal teenaged kid, pale and almost sickly-looking at times.

Since most people are unable to see Suzy, she often results to screwing with people or things. If your electronics are going haywire, the temperature drops or things are being thrown about, then Suzy is likely in the room with you. The thought of possessing someone has crossed her mind, but Suzy is (unironically) deathly afraid to try it.

Suzy tends to be a sarcastic individual.

When she was alive, Suzy had been your stereotypical "good kid", bright-eyed and cheerful. She'd help out anyone with homework and was on every teacher's good side. But when you're the victim of a serial killer, you tend to see the world more like those outcasts who hated the "goodie two-shoes" you once were. Nowadays, Suzy is much more bleak, and tends to be annoyed at most things or people that she happens to find too stupid or useless.

If only you could see her and her permanent scowling face. If only.

Suzy had been just an average, normal kid from London, England. Decent grades, had a couple friends, participated in extracurriculars at school—in essence, your typical Disney Channel background character in a slice of life high school show. But then she unluckily found herself the next victim of a sick creep, her lungs filled with nasty water from the Thames as she drowned, putting a permanent end to her enjoyment of the "thing" called life.

Or so she thought.

Coming back to her senses, Suzy found herself face-to-face with her dead body in the coroner's office. She attempted to communicate with the coroner, only to accidentally scare him shitless as the lights rapidly flickered and objects floated in the air. Unfortunately for Suzy, the corner had gossipy tongue, and news of this "paranormal" activity spread like wildfire. Soon enough, she found herself twisted into an urban legend: the murdered teenager who came back from the grave, haunting poor souls in anguish of her violent death.

In truth, Suzy just wants to be left alone. Yeah, she's dead. Yeah, she's a ghost. So what? She's already been through enough. If only the people on r/Paranormal would get the message.

Suzy has a stereotypical room reminiscent of a cramped UK townhouse. The atmosphere is always cold, given that a ghost resides there. Although Suzy can't eat or drink, she likes to have a plate of biscuits (BISCUITS, not cookies or crackers, you cretin!) and a tea kettle nearby—perhaps a side-effect of feeling home-sick. Or, well, living-sick.

The Eruditionist

Name: Shoggoth (and Khalid Alhazred)
Image/Appearance: The Shoggoth is a gelatinous, fleshy protoplasm with a constantly shifting form. It can construct new organs and limbs as needed in order to accomplish a variety of tasks, mimicking the bodies and structures of other organisms, but it is never anywhere close to a perfect copy. Even when not altering itself, it’s always subtly forming and unforming a variety of features in an unsettling manner. However, it can typically be categorizes as a meaty sludge, alternatively greenish brown or bruise-like blue-black, favoring tentacles, eyestalks, and multiple mouths, typically suckers rather than jaws

Khalid is a young man of African/Saudi Arabian heritage. He is tall at 6’4”, but very thin, with prominent ribs and no muscle mass to speak of. His eyes and hair are body dark, and his eyebrows as prominent as his cheekbones. With a chinstrap beard and mustache, he puts on a dignified face, but his distinctive hairstyle -clean but unique- betrays a sense of aplomb also visible in his garb; he can be trusted to dress sharply, but with an eccentric twist, a flavor only amplified by his frequent use of seals, scrolls, and talismans. An ever-rotating selection of pink bandages can be found all over his body, a small reminder of the consequences of messing with eldritch matters on a daily basis. He can often be found with an umbrella and a satchel, which in addition to papers, folders, and laptop contains a heating device so that the Shoggoth can rest comfortably on the go.

Race: Shoggoth / Human
Racial Traits: The Shoggoth is a formless (but typically horrific) shapeshifter, able to make organs like arms, claws, eyes, mouths, and so forth as many times and wherever needed. It can also expand and contract itself, squeezing into or through small spaces. It cannot assume or be assigned a human form whatsoever and must be physically hidden when it goes out. It smells very foul, enough to drive away and ward off other creatures, natural and supernatural alike, it tends to instill a phobia in those who observe it, much worse than, say, a spider. If it can envelop something, it can generally destroy it. Its talent is building structures. It’s basically invincible and is resistant to most elements, especially cold, but heat will relax it.

Khalid has no inherent supernatural abilities, but his experience with the supernatural and his collection of trinkets give him a few edges over the average human. He always carries bandages and a pocket mirror, for one. The seals he wears afford him a high degree of mental resilience and magic/curse resistance, while his talismans open their eyes and stare at sources of magical/unnatural energy. If the Shoggoth spreads over his umbrella, it functions very well as an all-purpose shield. He’s acclimatized to the smell of the Shoggoth, and they seem to have some sort of partnership where the Shoggoth will heed his words rather than try to eat him. He has various magical materials as well, including chalks, salts, candles, etc, but he’s much better at breaking others’ magic than doing any of his own
Requirements: The Shoggoth eats prodigious quantities of food for its size. It needs to be kept calm in order to not become mindlessly aggressive and destructive, and Khalid is who keeps it calm, so he needs enough electricity for the various devices that keep it warm, and the means to both grow and procure the ingredients necessary for its tranquilizing serum.

Personality: The Shoggoth has neither mind nor personality to speak of. Only hunger, and smoldering, undying, generational resentment. Khalid named it Horace.

Khalid is a little more interesting. He is courteous, thoughtful, and inquisitive, keen to tackle challenges and solve problems, includes those of other people. Even in the face of terrible misfortune, he can stand fast against feelings of anger and sadness. His odd body language, tendency to narrate and mutter to himself, and tendency to be out-of-touch mark him as an uncool eccentric and outcast in the eyes of many, but he doesn’t crave validation or popularity, preferring instead to keep his own company and focus on more important matters. Thus, he has a lot of patience and can put up with a great deal, seldom complaining, always counting his meager blessings. However, he does have a lot of pride in himself, the pride of someone who’s managed to withstand great suffering, and he remembers every slight against him. He loathes whiners, hypocrites, elitists, and those who claim victimhood, especially when they turn around and paint false narratives of their own. He strives to be an unbiased and objective realist, coolly taking in the facts and proving hypotheses, to the point where he has quite the piercing stare–as if he’s always imagining those around him unraveling, their innermost selves laid bare
Background: In the 1930s, Dr. William Dyer of Miskatonic University led a large, well-funded scientific expedition to the Antarctic continent in hopes of discovering minerals, fossils, and other samples from the ancient world. When they arrived, however, they found much more than they could ever have imagined. In the course of the excavation team’s work in the shadows of mountains taller and older than any man had ever seen, they discovered the frozen bodies of bizarre, otherworldly creatures, only to lose contact with the rest of the expedition that next night. When Dyer and Danforth, a student, arrived the next day, they found only the evidence of a mad slaughter, and a trail leading up to the mountains. In following it, they discovered the remains of an antiquarian metropolis, inscribed with sculptures and murals that related the very nature of the world itself. They explained that this ancient civilization had once ruled the world, their massive undersea cities constructed through the use of horrific beasts of burden, and when they delved deeper, they found exactly what it was that brought that civilization to an end. Chased by a nightmarish, shambling mass, both men managed to escape, but as they left that antediluvian world far behind, Danforth unwittingly brought something with them. Since then, the Shoggoth -or fragment of a Shoggoth- has been cared for by various secret societies, watched over and kept docile through meticulous means both arcane and mundane. Well-versed in Dyer’s old report, they know all to well the price they’d pay should the Shoggoth rise against them as it once did its former masters.

Khalid’s exact origin is clouded in mystery. Wherever he’s from -Egypt, Sinai, Saudi Arabia, or somewhere else entirely- it’s clear that he belongs to an ancient family, claiming to descend from Abdul Alhazred himself, the mad author of the infamous Necronomicon. And since ancient times, his family has stood on the brink of two worlds, the ordinary world inhabited by everyone else, and the hidden realm of magic and monsters. Like many other disparate, disunited organizations and clans across history, they sought to keep those worlds separate, and the bridges spanning them closed, for the safety of mankind first and foremost. In the centuries since those ancient times, the balance of power shifted considerably, forcing the creatures of the night into hiding. And yet, knowing that a cornered beast is the most dangerous, the family persevered, through all the peaks and valleys.

Lately, though, the Alhazred lot has been mostly valleys. Khalid’s grandfather, fearful that his lineage had grown weak and complacent over time in the face of increasingly harmless-seeming monsters, strove to push harder than ever before. In so doing, though, he earned the fury of a monstrosity not seen (and in fact, never seen) since the horrific and public demise of Abdul Alhazred himself: a Star Vampire, invisible but for the blood of its victims splashed across fanged teeth and sinuous coils. In the wake of that event, the Alhazred family was shattered. At a very young age, Khalid traveled abroad with his father, seeking new opportunities and new beginnings, only to find that the human world could be as cruel as the monsters’. He found no sense of community or opportunity, only distrust, exclusion, and prejudice. As he grew, gradually growing distant from his father, he remained an outcast, living in poor conditions and obliged to work hard jobs for little pay, when he could find work at all. Only by retreating into his studies and stories, and believing that he was destined to delve into a fantastic, dangerous world beyond the cruel mundane, did Khalid persevere.

Fortune would favor Khalid once more, however, after he began attending university. Unable to hold down a regular job while at school, he settled into dreary and unprofitable magazine work writing short stories using his knowledge of monsters to lend his works of ‘fiction’ a fascinating depth of detail. Not long after settling in a cheap boarding establishment, he happened to meet an eccentric chemist, the sickly Dr. Muñoz whose frigid apartment always reeked of ammonia. Khalid got to know him better, and eventually discovered the doctor’s secret: that Muñoz had died eighteen years ago, and was sustaining himself as a zombie through the use of chemicals and cold. Suddenly, the door to that unknown world had been thrust open again, and Khalid plunged inside. Through Muñoz he came into a couple important contacts, and soon launched into a new field of study: monsters themselves. Eventually his meticulous and trustworthy nature through dire and unpredictable circumstances earned him enough respect from the right people that he was given the chance to enter into a partnership with the long-hidden Shoggoth, which became the basis for a new, tricky, and potentially perilous venture. Through a combination of guile and mysticism, Khalid and the Shoggoth managed to insert themselves into a hidden stronghold of monstrous activity, where began his most daunting task yet: cohabitation.

Building, Floor, and room: 3-106 (Building 3, Floor 1, Room 6)
Room Description: The room was designed with a Shoggoth in mind, so in its original state, it was dark and bare, nothing but flat concrete, a heating system, and standard power outlets, and no other features that a mindless, gelatinous menace could take advantage of or destroy. It did offer a number of sturdy building blocks of different shapes and sizes that could be assembled into various structures.

However, at great personal expense, the Shoggoth and Khalid have worked together to almost completely renovate the room. It’s now filled with furniture, albeit relatively cheap given their low budget and disposable given the Shoggoth’s tendencies. There are desks, often covered with research materials, rickety bookshelves full of tomes new and old in a variety of languages (including several translation guides) on lore, biological data, formulas, and works of outright fiction. There are cabinets of clothes and mystical equipment, several tables beneath overhead UV lights where various plants are grown, including garlic, wolfsbane, verbena, henbane, mugwort, wormwood, and so forth. The Shoggoth even has a special ‘playpen’ with extra heatlamps and food enrichment items. Khalid himself sleeps on the old couch next to a dehumidifier. The whole room is humid, very warm, odorous, and generally repellent to anyone and everyone who isn’t the Shoggoth or Khalid.

Eilidh Chiron

Name: Eilidh Chiron

Eilidh likes to wear casual, comfy clothes during her everyday activities. Vests during the summer and hoodies or oversized sweaters in the winter. When she has to dress up for nice occasions, she has a selection of dresses. She never wears anything on her horse half and finds communities of centaurs that do a little bit strange.

Race:Centaur

Racial Traits: The lower half of Eilidh's body is that of a horse. She can gallop at speeds that'd make her a serviceable racehorse, and has a strong hind kick.

Requirements: Eilidh requires a first floor room in building 2. Stairwells pose a difficulty to her though she can use the wide elevators in building 2 if needed.

When she needs to go out, Eilidh has a custom modified minivan built to hide her body, that she has learned to drive in. There's no way for her to walk around as normal that she is comfortable with. Magic was once used to give her two legs and she couldn't stop falling over. She has a Magic artefact that makes her look like a woman riding a horse but she has to drive pretty far out to find a use for it.

Personality: Eilidh, growing up, had always wanted to be surrounded by people, and her happiness in achieving that life shows in her bubbly personality. She is very friendly, easily excitable, and slightly naive. Though, a couple have online dramas have tempered her naivety somewhat. She's not a naturally attentive, savvy or empathetic person though she shows her brand of kindness by being very eager to please. She liked to be told how she can help rather than try (and usually fail) to assume.

Background: Eilidh is a 26 year old Centaur who grew in the remote rolling hills of the Scottish Highlands. Places where monsters could remain undiscovered in the wild was getting increasingly rare in the digital age, and Eilidh grew up in what was essentially a wooden shack. phone and internet connection were very unreliable. Even the television signal was prone to frequent dropouts. All her monster friends of the same age found tried and true means to pass as human, and managed to enjoy the boons of modern society. Eilidh had enough, and emigrated when she was seventeen, to a place one of her friends had heard of; the Umbra Rose Condos.

She became hooked on the internet, and online culture. Websites. Videogames. Streaming. All of it was a a hitherto unexplored world of wonders to her. After a year or so of consuming, she wanted to try. She managed to scrape together enough money for a streaming setup, and started to stream. For the first two years, she didn't see much success but was still having a blast with a small yet committed viewerbase of the same thirty or so names.

Her luck changed when, two years ago, she made the shift to vtubing. Her streaming experience, enthusiasm, "cute" Scottish accent and genuine passion for the scene translated well, and she now sits at are respectful 70k subs, regularly able to pull over one thousand viewers per stream

Background: After being abandoned by her human father, she ended up wandering to the Condos, where she was taken in. She works there so she can keep a room. She goes around straightening up rooms. She's extremely shy, and doesn't easily open up to others.

Room description: It has a twin bed pushed up against one wall, and has a small bookshelf opposite of the bed. Next to the bed is a small bedstand with a lamp. The frilly white curtains at the window are drawn closed. Other than that, the room is empty most of the time.

Shoggoth #2

Endurance: A shoggoth can survive comfortably in vacuum, in any depth of water, in freezing temperatures, and in catastrophic heat. Radiation which would cause cell-death in mammals is quite harmless to a shoggoth. A shoggoth suffers no ill effects from aging. Presumably a shoggoth must feed, but they have been known to sit in torpor for years—or centuries, or millennia, or eons; who can say?—with no apparent harm. The limits of a shoggoth’s endurance are unknown. With this in mind, the human body it is attached to requires a transfer of shoggoth matter to it in order to stay alive in such conditions with can rapidly drain energy from both.

All-Seeing: Shoggoths are encased in a thousand shifting eyes that can see in every portion of the electromagnetic spectrum. While the shoggoth is present in its Eldritch form, it is impossible to sneak up on its host.

Tekeli-Li: Shoggoths were bred to communicate, and to imitate the sounds of their former masters. They are incredible mimics. Few know how long it would take a shoggoth to use this facility for actual communication, but they certainly can imitate any sound they hear.

Intellect: A shoggoth has intelligence on the same scale as a human, but its modes of thought are utterly, incomprehensibly alien. In most encounters, a shoggoth acts with seemingly mindless, destructive wrath. But it may have inscrutable goals, newly conceived or developed over billions of years, which are served by the destruction it causes. In this case, the shoggoth is bound to the host with the "binding sigil" that is the Elder Sign. Through the years, the host and the entity have developed a crude method of communication while the shoggoth continues to be bound by the Elder Sign.

Reshape: Shoggoths can ooze, grow, shift or change their plastic form to fit through almost any gap. If air can pass through an opening, a shoggoth can as well.

Regeneration: A shoggoth can rebuild itself from a minuscule amount with only the most basic elements. If left in this state in an environment with access to oxygen and water, even trace water in the air, it reconstitutes to half strength in a matter of days. The shoggoth also regenerates tissue that belongs to its host.

Requirements: No outstanding requirements

Personality: Stoic, guarded, troubled. Rebecca has been through quite a lot and knows that sharing her past wouldn't earn her any sympathy about her situation because not all of it stems from her current relationship with her body's tenant. She hides a lot of her true self behind a wall of reservation, but she is far from inconsiderate.

Background: Little is known about Rebecca in the public light, and for good reason. Utilized as a new venture against combating Eldritch horrors during the Cold War, Rebecca was subjecting ti government trials involving induced shoggoth symbiosis. There was no thought given to the her expense. Part of the trail included combat testing for long-term exposure as well as performance. From 1967 to 1972, Rebecca was deployed with the 5th Special Forces Group as a part of MACV-SOG. Her top secret nature made her perfect for the top secret missions into Cambodia and Laos during the Vietnam War.

After the conflict wound down and Nixon enacted Vietnamization, the powers that be grew restless in dealing with Rebecca. Though they had reservations of placing her in other units on other missions, she was eventually allowed to participate in the newly minted 1st SFOD-D. But Rebecca’s past followed her, and she was swiftly becoming unpopular with Big Army as they found it harder to keep her identity a secret. Name changes, moves, redeployments, all were just stopgap measures. Eventually, Rebecca saw the writing on the wall. Even with pushback from her units she served with, Big Army was looking to quietly get rid of her.

With help from people she had met along the way, Rebecca was able to live a life AWOL from her unit and kept herself mobile to avoid prying eyes and suspicions. Her goal was to make it appear as if she had fallen off the face of the Earth. Her old life was gone and her new life had only just begun when she was met in a bar and handed an envelope from someone who had “done a lot of work to find her”.
