Were they telling him to get the ice packs from the ambulance? Or were they simply stating that they did have some located there since he'd asked. Neither of them made a move to go grab one, so Hermes decided that if they needed to keep the fever down he'd go and grab the packs himself. As he began to make his way over towards the ambulance however, a cop came up to him, cuffs in hand, making Hermès both nervous and a bit jumpy. He wasn't doing anything wrong, and was about to say so when another officer came behind the other and tapped him on the shoulder before pointing over to Finley.

A wave of relief washed over him as he let out a sigh, deciding that Finley wouldn't need the ice packs if he was headed into a cruiser. So he made his way over to his cousin once more, looking around at the situation at hand and seeing that everyone else seemed to have things covered now. ”Crap! I'm so sorry. Finely is one of my…friends at school. When I saw them I kind of panicked and forgot to keep you in the loop. I'll try to be better about it but I agree, we should go.” He signed before making his way over to the passenger side of Mandy's car.

@Trainerblue192@Kirah@Carlyle Isaac turned to look at Kali and nodded slightly towards her. "Yeah i'm fine." He said to her as the paramedics and officers talked to each other briefly as they looked over at Finley still thrashing and hitting the door and bashing his head on the window of the back of the police cruiser. One The officers turned to Kali and nodded slightly seeing Gladys wasn't in the best mental state right now.

"We'll ask her for some details later but if you could can you give her my card?" The officer asked handing Kali his card. The other officer was pretty distracted and wasn't really paying attention but Mandy and Hermes would notice a kid around Hermes age managing to sneak into Mandy's car after picking the lock and got inside and was trying to hotwire the car.

"Yeah everything is acting really crazy right now kind of like how COVID was." Flynn said as he cracked open his coke and leaned himself up against the wall. Everything was going really crazy, he pulled out his phone pulling up the news app he had on his phone, seeing a live news feed of some people looting a store. "It kinda feels like a crazy viral outbreak movie or something." Flynn said as he turned to Verity and gave her a slight smile when she apologized. "It's okay, I would have been pretty pissed off to if someone crashed into my car." Flynn told her he would have been pretty pissed off to if someone crashed into his own bike.

Gus went back to tending the person as best as he could and then started to panic as he saw that they weren't breathing anymore as he turned to look at the both of them. "Can either of you try and reach 911 they ain't breathing." Gus said as Flynn looked at Verity again he put his phone back into his pocket and went to check to see that Gus was telling the truth. He didn't have any kind of medical expertise to help at all as he tried to reach 911 on his phone and tried to call but he didn't get anything other than a busy signal.

"I'm okay with that." Kaitlyn said as she pulled out her apartment keys and headed outside locking the door, it was mostly out of habit now at this point but they would need a key anyway to get into her apartment and the building itself as well to. "The garage isn't to far." Kaitlyn said as she adjusted her pack and started to head over towards the elevators at the end of hallway once Waverly was inside Kaitlyn pressed the button for the basement floor which was where mostly all of the residents parked as well to.

"My car is over here." She said as she pulled out her key fob and pressed the unlock button a red Honda CRV's lights flashed along with a beep as she started to approach and made her way over towards her car. Waverly however would catch a figure stumbling along in the shadows towards the sound of the horn, she would see that it was a zombified resident making her way towards Kaitlyn's car.

Mandy tapped her chest once with her thumb, her hand open fingers splayed. "It's fine." She wanted to tell him she was proud of him. But as she raised her hands to say more she noticed the boy leaning in her car. She pulled her keys out of her pocket and hit the red button to turn on the alarm. Mandy tapped it once and let it flash and beep for a few seconds before tapping it again. Hoping that would scare the kid off. Or get the attention of the officer.

Who in their right mind would try to carjack right next to the police like that? Mandy had a healthy respect and fear of cops. Being Deaf meant that if they gave her an order and she couldn't see them doing it, like coming up from behind, she'd never know and wouldn't be able to comply. She had learned horror stories from her parent's friends.

Verity listened, reminded of the Covid-19 pandemic. It was, admittedly, a horrendous time. People acted like animals, flocking to stores to stock up on supplies, as people are want to do when crises hits, never once thinking to ensure others garner supplies of their own. Truly when tragedy hits it's every man for himself.

Verity didn't admit this openly, but the pandemic was good to her. People were staying home to work or just to keep safe which meant TV watching and streaming increased. People used money given from the stimulus to buy subscription services because...what else were they going to do when they were home keeping safe? It meant shows like hers soared in ratings and, thanks to commercials and product placements, it meant her income grew. It didn't mean she didn't care about people's safety, but a small part of her hoped the lockdown lasted a bit longer.

But even then once it was lifted she still did all right.

"Well we got through that pandemic all right, more or less, so we'll get through this one, if that's what it ends up being." She didn't want to voice any other worries she had. As Gus came in asking for one of them to call the police, Verity took out her phone. "I tried before and didn't get through, but I can try again." Verity dialed 9-1-1 again, but didn't hold out hope she would reach them.

"Certainly," Kali responded to the police officer as she took the card from him and placed it in her pocket. She then glanced behind the officer, her attention focused on the teenager from before. "Is he going to be okay?" Kali asked as she watched Finley beat himself against the door of the police cruiser. Normally, she would have figured he had to be on something, but given the circumstances, she wasn't certain what to think anymore. "I'm just worried he might hurt himself."

Of course, that was saying the least. The kid was a wreck of his own, and apparently looked just as crazy as the man that had attacked her neighbor's husband. She thought back to the restaurant, thinking about what her co-worker looked like. Did he look as if he was out of his mind too? She didn't get much of a look as Isaac and another co-worker tried to temporarily restrain him. Perhaps that was the one good thing so far, saving her from being assaulted by her co-worker like Jeff.

Hermès couldn't hear the sounds of glass being pounded on. Finley locked up inside the cruiser as he bashed his head repeatedly at the window in an attempt to break free. He didn't know what was happening to him, to Elio, it was all too sudden and too strange. Coach had died, yet he was seen moving again later, some sort of viral infection spread via saliva from the sounds of it based on what the dispatcher was saying. But Hermès didn't want to think about what that meant for Finley, on if it was already too late and he'd passed or if he was still alive in there, somewhere. He hoped they could find a cure to it and that he'd return back to normal, but until then he'd need to stop having so many close encounters with a bite.

As HermΓ¨s looked away from the scene and towards Mandy's car, he saw the teen who had snuck in and attempted to hot wire it. Mandy's quick thinking startled him however, the loud alarm making HermΓ¨s remove his hand from the car with a jolt before looking towards the officers. ”Hey, there's a guy trying to steal our ride over here!” He was about to do something reckless, before he remembered the cops were there. Wouldn't do for them to see him assaulting someone and get the wrong idea. Especially not after this whole mess.

Waverley followed Kaitlyn into her apartment complex's spacious garage, eyes immediately scanning the scene. As they marched behind the line of parked cars, an annoyingly familiar sight caught her eye: the ugly stainless-steel looming over the both of them, coming together in jagged, unpleasant angles. As the pair passed, Waverley offered up a middle finger to the so-called cybertruck, silently cursing whatever wannabe tech bro had parked it there. She turned her attention back forward to find Kaitlyn fiddling with her keys in front of what Waverley figured must be her car.

"Hey, nice ride," she complimented, eyes gliding along its side. They stopped at the rearview mirror, narrowing at what she saw in the reflection - a half-dead looking figure shambling through the darkness towards them. Whoever they were, they looked the same as the guy they'd encountered back at the school. Waverley backed up a little, in doing so bumping her heel into a twelve-pack of soda, sitting next to the car next to them's closed trunk. Probably forgotten by someone after a grocery run...

"Don't freak out, but we've got one of those sick people coming up on us..." Waverley subtly glanced at the figure, wary to leave her eyes on it for too long. She chewed the inside of her lip, before glancing to the cybertruck they'd past along the way. An idea began to form - a loud one, and one that filled Waverley to no end with satisfaction. She hoisted up the forgotten box of Coke, pulling it open and grabbing a can from inside. She stepped away from Kaitlyn's car, and she aimed for a moment, can held high, before launching it at the overpriced rustbucket. She chucked it as hard as she could at the car - only for it to bounce off the back bumper and into the floor. Waverley was about to grab another can when she noticed the sick guy's attention pulled away from her and instead to the hissing can spraying coke onto the cybertruck's tire. Waverley quickly through open the car door, sliding into the passenger seat, keeping the soda on her lap. "We should go - I don't know how long that soda's gonna keep him distracted." There was an undercurrent of disappointment in Waverley's voice, clearly having wanted to give the owner of that truck a little more than a sticky tire to worry about.

@Trainerblue192@Kirah@Carlyle "We'll see about him getting whatever help he needs ma'am, just make sure you return to your home and lockdown whatever's happening it's getting worse." The officer said to Kali, the car alarm suddenly got the officer's attention and quickly turned to the kid that was trying to hotwire the car right in front of them was really stupid and reckless. "Get out of the car right now!" The officer yelled as they both drew their sidearms at the kid who looked at them and slowly started to get out of Mandy's car and held his hands up Mandy would get a text from her father. "Is everything okay?"

"Still it was kind of a crazy time though." Flynn said with a slight shrug as he turned his attention towards Gus as he made sure he had the tire iron ready just in case something happened. "Just stay away from the body." Flynn said to Gus as he nodded slightly as he slowly stood up. The woman was bitten by the infected and the same thing happened back at the Twin Seasons restaurant he was very much on edge and he didn't want his friend or Verity really to get hurt either.

Verity would actually be lucky and she would get someone on the other end, the dispatcher sounded really stressed and overworked by the sound of their voice on the other end. "This is 911 what is your emergency?" They asked over the phone, Flynn watched very closely as he slowly started to notice a finger twitching Verity would notice it as well to.

Juniper would just be getting home from school, the staff had all evacuated the school, he would notice a newer staff member at the school he worked at as Kaitlyn there. He would also notice the sickly looking man shambling his way towards the can of coke that Waverly had tossed, it cracked open slightly and sprayed cola all over the floor.

Kaitlyn started to fumble with her key fob and ended up dropping it onto the ground and fell to the ground under a nearby car. "Well shit.." Kaitlyn said she really didn't like the idea of loosing her keys having the shambling neighbor making their way over towards her. "I dropped my keys I need to get it. Just keep that thing distracted if it wanders over here." Kaitlyn said as she got down onto her knees and started to try and get them from under the car it had rolled under.

Mandy texted her dad back, "Long story. I'll tell you when I get home. We're leaving now.". It was obvious the alarm had worked. The kid had jumped and was getting out of her car hands up. So the cops attention had been brought to the situation. She stepped aside so the kid could see that the cops were behind her.

That is when she noticed they had their sidearms out. She felt adrenaline hit, her skin getting tight and her armpits started to tingle as she started to sweat. The guns weren't pointed at her but that didn't make the situation any less dangerous. She slid behind the kid and into the front driver seat. She let out a little breath of air and waited for Hermes to get in so they could get going.

Once he was she started driving home. Thankful for that. Home was safety now. They needed to get there and bunker down until this ended. Mandy had no desire to be roaming the streets. It was too dangerous from the sick and healthy both.

Juniper approached his apartment with caution. He had his thoughts about what was going on at the school, but didn't want to jump to conclusions. Still, he couldn't help but think about what his family would be saying about this whole situation.

His family. He should call them. His focus was torn away when he heard a familiar voice. He looked up to see Kaitlyn, who he sorta knew from work. She was new. There was also a second woman, who watched a can of coke that was spraying and fizzing everywhere as a sickly looking person stumbled towards it. His heart raced.

As he approached, Kaitlyn told him, or maybe this other woman, that she'd dropped her keys. Juniper nodded, carefully stepping in front of Kaitlyn, glancing back and forth from her to see if she'd retrieved the keys yet, and the sickly person stumbling.

"Are you okay? What's going on? Who is that stumbledy fellow?" Juniper asked.

Waverley watched from the passenger seat as Kaitlyn fumbled with her keys, only for them to fall through her fingers and clatter on the asphalt beneath. Waverley didn't need direction, popping open her car door as soon as Kaitlyn got to the ground and started searching. Perfectly gung-ho to give her failed vandalism attempt another go, she pushed herself up, perching her elbows on the roof of Kaitlyn's car. She grabbed a soda from where she'd placed the box on the dashboard and launched it once again at the Cybertruck.

The sound of shattering glass rang out, followed by the car's alarm. Waverley's lips curled into a smug, self-satisfied grin as she pumped a fist into the air. With her mission completed, she lowered her gaze to meet the man now behind Kaitlyn. She pulled out another can, ready to lob it at his head, but shook off her protective instincts when she realized he wasn't sick like the others.

"Shit's kinda going down all over the city, so we're headed to a bar. Hoping to skip town from there. Always room for one more, though." She slapped her palm against the roof of the car to indicate the backseat - light enough to hopefully not draw the attention of the 'stumbledy fellow.' Her smile wavered for a moment, her eyes drifting back up to the Cybertruck. "Unless that's your car, in which case you might want to see if there are any auto repair shops still open."

Verity was about to speak up when she heard a voice over the phone. Miracle of miracles she managed to get through! She looked around to find the name of the shop she was in. "Hello, yes I know you are probably getting a lot of calls right now but we are at Car Mechanic Masters and we were attacked. We have someone injured critically. Is there a way to get am ambulance here soon?"

Verity eyed the body on the ground, wondering if she should also ask for a coroner or whoever it was you called to take a dead person away. Verity noticed some slight movement and stood up from where she was sitting. Sure enough, she noticed a finger twitch on the dead man. She was reminded of the body bag moving in the back of the ambulance.

"Can you send someone right away? I think it's about to get worse."

"We will, officer." She responded to his request. They were right outside her house to begin with, anyway. Kali walked over to Gladys, offering to assist her getting back inside in case she needed it, as she glanced to Isaac. "You're welcome to come inside. Unless you have to get home, too. I don't want to hold you up with this madness going on."

Of course, madness was saying it lightly. A nearby car alarm went off, sending the cops into a frenzy. Guns were drawn, commands were shouted. There was tension in the air, and Kali didn't wish to be caught in the potential crossfire.

"C'mon, Gladys." Kali said, urgently. She hurried the woman towards the door of the apartment complex, hoping Isaac would either follow or get into his car and get out of dodge. Even if the kid was raising their hands, weapons were still drawn. It didn't take a genius to put a few inches of brick between yourself and the guns, especially as the car began to drive off from the scene in front of the officers. All it would take is one jumpy officer with an itchy trigger finger, and bullets would be flying.

Better to play it safe than become swiss cheese, Kali felt.

@Trainerblue192@Kirah@Carlyle "I'll stay for awhile better to have numbers and whatnot for the time being." Isaac said to Kali as he watched her helping Gladys up. "Thank you.." She said softly as she looked over her shoulder as she watched the paramedics getting her husband into the ambulance. "Stay safe ma'am." The officer said to them. as the other one restrained the kid and got him into the back of another cruiser that was arriving. The officer watched Mandy and Hermes getting into their car and they started to drive off back home Gladys made her way back into the building, luckily for her she was living on the first floor of the apartment and gestured towards the one at the end of the hallway. She pulled out her keys looking at Kali and Isaac for a moment before speaking. "I have some cookies in the pantry if you want some." She offered.

For Mandy and Hermes the roads were getting filled rather quickly with people trying to by the looks of it were fleeing the city, and the traffic jam was getting pretty large now. Hermes would be able to hear the cars beeping constantly and angry new yorkers sticking their head out of the windows some yelling at each other.

"Was the person bit?" The 911 operator asked Verity over the phone they didn't really wait for an answer before speaking. "If they were bitten try and secure them in a room, as soon as possible. We'll try and send someone as soon as possible, before asking. If anyone else is bit try and secure them as soon as possible to, they'll become very aggressive." They warned Verity over the phone as they started to get another call. "Paramedics and officers will come as soon as they can." They said before hanging up.

Flynn turned to look at Verity. "Well what did they say exactly?" He asked her hoping that some help would come soon, he started to worry that it was going to happen again like it happened at the Twin Seasons. Gus quickly stood up seeing the woman's eyes opening they looked glassy and glazed over. "What the hell?" He said as he could hear a groan coming from them as Gus backed up slowly looking at Flynn and Verity the zombie was slowly starting to try and get up but was having a hard time to as the groans became louder.

Kaitlyn turned to look up and saw that it was Juniper, though she didn't really know him all that well, she saw him when she was being shown around the school and during her breaks and had a few small conversations here and there in the apartment complex to in passing. "Something weird is going on and people are biting at each other and stuff, it's really weird.." Kaitlyn said to him, she watched as Waverly was able to lob a can of soda at the ugly cyber truck as the alarms suddenly started to go off. The zombie's attention was now drawn over towards the new noise coming from the truck and started to investigate it.

"What Waverly said, you are welcome to join us if you want to, pack up any supplies you need to in your apartment we can wait if you are coming with us." She suggested, Kaitlyn had managed to pack a few things that were in her apartment that would get her by for a few days at least.

The kid had gotten scared enough to back on out of the car. Enough for his cousin to slip in and start it for them both to leave. HermΓ¨s watched as the cops instantly pulled their weapons out. A pit forming in his stomach at just how jumpy they were being. It was an attempted hot wire not an armed takeover. Pigs. A part of him felt bad for the situation the new kid was put into, but then again he did try and steal a car from under a cops nose so…it was a little hard to feel sorry. HermΓ¨s slipped into the passenger seat and began to buckle up, signing with one hand as he did. ”And this is why I hate pigs. They're all shoot first ask later.”

He was just glad to have gotten out of that situation. Scenes of it replaying in his head. Finley, the old man, the drawn weapons. Both the operator and the first responders seemed shaken up by this new epidemic. They didn't get far in this New York traffic. Worse now than he'd ever seen it. ”Everyone seems on edge. Like they are evacuating. Are you ok?” HermΓ¨s asked as he looked at his cousin. They weren't moving right now so they could afford a little eye to eye conversation.
