Lauren smiled towards Haakon and gave him a friendly nod before turning around and started to follow behind Neema as well agreeing that they needed to get ready and do their job and search for those tablets that they were needed. She ran a hand through her hair as she went down a flight of stairs to where the archives were located. She could over hear Reginald and Mahendra getting to know one another a little bit more as well. Lauren leaned herself up against the wall as she watched as well for Mahendra to open the door for them so that they could get ready to do the search.

Lauren then looked back towards Neema as she waited for everyone else as well. "So how long did you work at the museum for?" Lauren asked, she was curious and wanted to get to know the woman a little bit more so that she could. "I'm sure you have some really interesting and good stories while working here as well."

The Lord Major thanked Mahendra with traditional United Kingdom Stiff Upper-Lippage, as befitted his station. "Ah, I see. Well nonetheless, I appreciate your candor and openness, given the situation. Perhaps, if my presence on the interim is inappropriate poring through Museum property, might it be permissible to wait upon her return? I am open to either possibility, you understand." He gave a polite nod to the East Indian Oxford fellow, purely out of courtesy to another citizen of the Empire in a foreign land.

Then of course, the illusion of civility had a hammer taken to it by the particularly up front Ms. Banoub. It gave Reginald pause. He looked at her with a sideways glance before slowly turning his head to catch up with the direction his eyes were facing. They widened slightly, showing an array of emotions going through the Lord Major, none of which leaned toward the positive. His face began to turn a pale shade of turbulent red before he was able to stamp it back down with his sheer, utter Britishness, one asset of which he was heavily resourced.

It did occur to him that, despite Egypt's previous status as a protectorate state under the Empire, it was very possible that this woman did not understand the tiny subtleties of his culture's familial versus familiar customs. To wit, Reginald tried to set his feelings aside and explain with polite dignity. "Madame, if you would indulge me for a moment? What you are saying is patently ludicrous, although I can see where some confusion may slip into the dialogue for those uninitiated in articles of responsibility amongst the Peerage. The Lord Captain Peter Keystone is my nephew; the son of my brother. He is my family by blood. Lady Munn's family and my own are close allies, with connections present and potential. Moreover, owing to my status and proximity, I am honorbound and morally obligated to tend to her best interests with the same responsibility as I would my own blood. 'Niece', in this instance, is a term of endearment, though it puts a tidy label upon the relation we have to one another. Chaperone is another, though less accurate." He cleared his throat lightly, "Does this satisfy your sense of propriety, madame?"

Mahendra Huq Zalil & Haakon J. Elvsgaard

Location:The Egyptian Museum

The polite not of the respectable Lord Major was returned by Mahendra, still tempted to give the officer a proper soldier's salute out of habit back during the war, but the social etiquette forbade him to do so. No man out of uniform was to salute, not even around the King himself. So the Bengali had to satisfy his need for social interaction to that polite nod, letting Neema take over the conversation as she continued to question the bloodline of the Keystone family. It wasn't in his place to question the relation between Vera, Peter or Reginald, even if it did puzzle him.

No. Instead Mahendra turned his attention to the set of keys he was still holding in his hand; The keys to the archives, which they were heading. What esoteric treasures of a past eons old lay within the secure space of the Museum? And more interesting to Mahendra, did they have any curious samples of the geographical lay-out of their expeditions destination? As he raised the keys towards the door, Mahendra gave a brief look to the Lord Major. "It might become a little crowded down there, but if you so wish, there is little reason for you having to wait for us out here, Sir. Does my position as assistant put enough weight behind such a permission?"

Haakon on his part continued to follow in silence as the group progressed to the archives. Unlike Mahendra, Haakon could sense a anticepation as to dwelve into an archive containing ancient knowledge. As a journalist, digging through archives was not something uncommon to him, but he rarely went back further than a generation or two, not centuries or perhaps millenia in the past.

Was there even the slighest chance that he would be able to take a sneak peak at anything of interest down there? Something worty of a news article back home? Certainly, especially with the craze of everything Egyptian blazing across the world. The real question was if he was allowed to by his companions; especially the Lord Major and Vera. The thought of publishing something without a name, or even under a pseudonym crossed his mind, but with his luck as late it was certain that it would come back to bite him in the butt later. Was such a risk worth taking?

But what about the story? If he dug deep enough, there must have been something he could find.

Josephine stepped outside of her own thoughts for a moment when the woman with them asked the Lord Major about his relationship with Lady Munn and Peter. She, herself, had to stifle a fit of laughter at her question. Truth be told, Josephine hadn't put two and two together, but it was funny to think about it and it added a new line in their relationships. However, the Lord Major answered and made things clear. Still, you would think it would be easier on those less involved if you called them by the right title. Silly English people she supposed...

Josephine was growing a bit impatient, but things seemed to be moving along regardless. She wanted to get this chore done and out of the way. She waited for the group to follow along before she walked. She was thinking about her plans for the evening. Because she did have plans, one could be sure of that. Things looked to be on the up and up. All that was left was to ask Lady Munn her questions and then she would be able to enjoy her festivities with Ahkmed.

Nora Kingston

Location: Permit Office
Skills: N/A
Nora did find it quite curious that they locations of the offices kept moving. Wouldn't it be simpler for things to remain in one spot? She couldn't fathom a reason for the constant relocation of government facilities. The only plausible explanation was that they simply desired a change of scenery. Yet as she followed after Lady Munn, her mind was still mulling over the previous problem. There was a connection she had stumbled upon - one that may very well be nothing more than pure nonsense. It was a silly notion to think that the circumstances of one's birth somehow dictated their personality and destiny - it was coincidence that she shared so many traits with the Nile.

But yet, coincidence was rare - the universe was rarely ever so lazy. As a mathematician, she felt it was her duty to pursue this line of reasoning to its logical conclusion. As much as she wished to engage Vera in the conversation she seemed inclined to - that of Peter - her mind was elsewhere. "I must apologize if I seem distant, Lady Munn. I have been considering a hypothesis of odd consequence," Nora explained. There was information she would need to acquire about the others experiencing these strange occurrences - information that could easily appear laughable to one such as Lady Munn, a woman of science and reasoning.

Nora had to remind herself that she too was logical. There was no reason why she should be ashamed of this theory. "Once we have acquired the needed permits, I believe there are questions we must ask the others involved in this happening. If my theory is correct, I may be able to understand why certain occurrences only happened to certain individuals..." Nora confessed. In order to keep Lady Munn's privacy, as well as the others, she did not explicitly state the brandings and the necklaces by name. Of course, she was also one of the few to have not yet signed a confidentiality agreement.

Shepheards Hotel: Rosheen chuckled as she got the motorcycle parked and everything situated. Inside the hotel, Hakeem was still at the counter doing his job. Helping an older couple get settled in and handing their keys over to a bell hop before they were on their way. Rosheen walked in and looked around, letting Mosi take care of her business.

When Hakeem spotted Mosi he smiled brightly at her. "Ma'am, you have returned. I do hope that your day has been going well in our city. We have your room all ready. It is room 2161 on the second floor. All of your luggage has already been taken up to the room and set on racks for you. And here is your key," he said as he stepped out from behind the desk and handed it over to her. "Is there anything else I can do for you today?"

Egyptian Museum: Neema rolled her lips in and chuckled to herself a bit. "Then perhaps you need to let people know. Otherwise anyone who doesn't know you personally will assume as I did," the old woman quipped before looking over at Mahendra and smiling. "Thank you, such a gentleman," she added before stepping into the Archives.

"Oh I worked for the museum for nearly twenty years. About a life time ago," she said to Lauren as she looked over to her. "I was there for many of the digs. I only wish I had not missed out on KV 62." Turning she looked at the rows. "They could be anywhere but I suggest that we check rows 5VbC, 19TTF, and 23RTS. We should split up. They would in a crate marked with the eye of Horus and Bubastis underneath it." Taking a breath she pointed in two directions for 5Vbc and 23RTS before heading straight down the main row. "I will check 19TTF."

"I look forward to going over your findings once we re a better location for it. It will be nice to speak freely amongst peers instead of being ridiculed by them because I care not to discuss this seasons floral patterns," Vera said as she looked over towards Nora. She was truly enjoying the womans company. Not only did it distract her from the entire William situation. Why he was acting like such a clot was beyond her but she hoped it would cease quickly. Then there the being courted by Peter. While she did care for him deeply she had not ever thought to wed but he seemed to be pressing for them to be something. She had made a promise and she would not break her word.

Nora though was not only good for distraction but she felt a kinship with the woman she hadn't with others of her gender before. Able to speak intelligently with her instead of heaving breaths and batting of eyes and fanning of chests. She despised the ton but there was nothing to be done about it.

"أيمكنني مساعدتك؟" A man asked from behind the counter.

Veras head turned sharply. She had not even heard him approach. He was in his middle years, most likely around forty and looked far older in the eyes than he probably should have. Yet she could only imagine how dead she would feel inside if she was forced to sit here day after day in a government office. The library, while educational, could even become boring. She longed to be in the field and hopefully today would be the first day of that. Thankfully she spoke the language but because Nora was there she stuck to English for now.

"Yes, we are here on behalf of the Egyptian Museum to acquire a permit to execute an excavation at Bubastis. I am Lady Vera Munn, Librarian at Antiquities, and this is my colleague, Lady Nora Kingston, Mathematician and Research Assistant."

Lauren looked over her shoulder towards Reginald as he started to give Neema information that she was curious about, it did sound confusing to her at first as well but she listened to him. She wondered how thiBubastisngs were doing at the permit office currently, as Lauren watched Mahendra opening up the door to the archives for them Lauren followed Neema in shortly after her. "Thank you sir." Lauren said in a friendly voice as she walked into the room looking over at the various shelves that contained all of the artifacts that were there. When Neema answered her question, twenty years was certainly a very long time to actually work as an archeologist at the many digs and working in the museum as well. "I'm sure you have a lot of stories that i'd love to hear sometime." Lauren said giving Neema a friendly smile, she was pretty interested in the culture and the history of Egypt as well.

Lauren looked towards the various shelves as Neema gave the three specific ones to search for the missing tablets that Vera was needing them to find. "I'll take the   23RTS one then." Lauren said looking towards those that were there, before heading down to the shelf that was marked 23RTS, having an idea now that she was looking for anything with the Eye of Horus on it or the Bubastis marked on it. Her eyes slowly scanning up and down the shelves for any of the ones with the markings that Neema mentioned while quietly humming to herself.

Reginald gave Ms. Banoub's advice on the matter of Vera and Peter's mode of address all of the consideration he felt it deserved. Ordinarily, that would be a sharp word or two, followed by smug acceptance of the fact that the ways of the Kingdom served as an example to others, and word to the contrary was likely handed out by malcontents. He did have to admit to one point; to those sadly uninitiated to the ways of formal and informal address of those close to one's self, it might seem a trifle unseemly.

To be fair to himself, this particular issue wasn't one that had come up before. Peter was presumed dead, lost in battle against the Kaiser's men. Vera was the closest thing he had to family on this continent, and they did have a close relationship. Not to mention their families agreed that he would watch over her, in his own way, so long as they were both in their present positions. So with careful consideration, Reginald looked upon the face that housed the sharp, unfiltered tongue of Ms. Banoub, smiled politely, and simply stated, "Quite." It was as much as he was willing to concede and showed a modicum of agreement.

To conclude the exchange with Mr. Zalil, Reginald perked up his outward demeanor. "I cannot say whether the offering of Lady Munn's assistant is sufficient authority to allow my entry, however I cannot say that it is not. At the very least, it would mean that an employee in good standing with the Museum has offered his access, which takes applicable responsibility from myself if this indeed becomes a breach of protocol. I thank you, Mr. Zalil, and shall content myself with checking..." he thought back to the sections in Archives that had been mentioned, "...5VbC, unless there are any objections. Well then, let us be off!" The Lord Major nodded, pleased in his continuation of triumphant decision-making, and patted his clipboard in the palm of his hand.

“Yes, it's been an incredible experience so far indeed!” Mosi replied with a bright smile as she looked at Hakeem.” Met new interesting people and saw very incredible things, thank you. I will be sure to enjoy the rest of my stay in Cairo too, surely!” She smiled as the man came to give her the key. The key which she took and took a short look at as if trying to burn it into her memory.

“Thank you, Hakeem. Have a great night.” She smiled, remembering his name. Now that she had officially settled into the hotel, she was more or less done here. She could go grab maybe her leather smithing apron, but she was visiting the Smithing event, so chances were she might not get a chance to try it herself just yet and if she did, she can easily ask to burrow one for the moment then.” Sadly I'm a little bit pressed for time...” She said and looked at Rosheen, walking to her friend who had followed her in.

“Well since everything is taken care of we can go. Frankly I expected to take more time, but I suppose that's that. We can go now or if we've got the time I will like to grab another jacket from my room?” She asked, Rosheen since her friend was the one with the motorbike and better understanding of the distances and time needed to pass them. Tonight it was the smithing display tomorrow she'd see if she can get a women' night out with Rosheen. That will be grand too especially after spending the day with her too. It was forming out to be a great day tomorrow also!

Haakon J. Elvsgaard & Mahendra Huq Zalil

Location: The Museum
Skills: None

Mahendra, not prepared of Neema's initiative to enter the archives first, stumbled backwards as she walked in before him. Sure she had been there for ages, almost as long as he himself had lived that life, but to have her enter like it was a second home was not what he had expected. Mahendra regained his composure however, returning the smile given to him by Lauren and letting the others follow Neema before he walked in himself.

The archive was big, that was for certain. Having just gotten the position as assistant, there was little to no way Mahendra would be able to search this place by himself. But he had to learn it sooner rather than later, in fear of losing the job he so much needed. Mahendra listened to Neema's suggestions for which rows to check, mentally marking their numbers as significant. He could have decided to follow her in order to learn something of use in his new line of work, but Mahendra instead began to follow the Lord Major. "No objection on my part, Lord Major. But I'd like to search those rows as well, keeping anything that happens as my responsibily like you said. If I may?"

Haakon's eyes wandered all over the many lines of rows that lined the archives. How much knowledge was contained within those countless boxes and shelves of books, papers, pergaments, scrolls and god knows what? The mention of KV 62 only stood to strenghten the magnitude of the possibilities within that confined space; The Valley of Kings, the final resting place of eternity for King Tutankhamun, the whole reason the world was engulfed in a craze not seen since...something important had happened. Nero burning down Rome? The discovery of America? The Rape of Belgium?

Something as big as that.

When the time for deciding who should search which row, Haakon was uncertain of who to follow. He decided that it was perhaps not best to accompany the Lord Major, at least not just yet after the little 'heart to heart' they had had earlier. And the Indian man seemed to have more to talk about with him, so they were probably going to have a jolly good time talking about Britain and all that jazz. The choice then stood between the remaining three ladies; Josephine, Neema and Lauren. In the end, Haakon began to follow Neema. "May I accompany you, Miss Banoub? I'm afraid I would get lost down here on my own." Haakon said joyfully, hoping to give off a better impression than he had clearly given off to certain members of the 'Fellowship'.

Josephine breathed a sigh of relief as the others began to make their way. She had no idea where to go and she didn't want to get hopelessly lost in this place. "Yes, finally!" As she walked, visions of Ahkmed danced in her head. She didn't mind this country anymore! The others were talking and she tuned them out.

It wasn't until she heard letters and numbers did she come back. It seemed they would be splitting up. Everyone seemed to be going their own way. She debated who she would tag along with and decided it would be kind of fun to go with the Lord Major. "I'll follow the good Lord Major then. 5V..something right? Let's get to it!" Even if Josephine didn't say it, she remembered the code. Why not feed into what people expect of you?

Nora Kingston

Location: Permit Office

Nora couldn't help but smile softly at Vera's quip. She understood that sentiment quite well. Even among her mother and sisters, the conversation was fairly typical for that of the Ton. Rather than conversing with Nora about mathematics or even other intellectual pursuits, the topics tended to be drivel and gossip. Had her sisters known that she had met Peter Keystone, the daring captain who was making a splash in the rumor mill, they would have been completely out of sorts. "We share the same sentiment, then," Nora said. She was gradually becoming accustomed to the freedom of discourse she could have with Lady Munn and she cherished the ability to speak her mind. It was something that she had long since resigned herself to never be able to attain with any other person in society.

She turned as well, yet Nora could not understand the language spoken. Fortunately, it appeared that Lady Munn did. She felt conflicted about her form of address. While she disliked being called Lady Kingston, she understood that it would likely help with the acquisition of a permit. And of course, being called a mathematician and a proper research assistant - it was extremely validating. After Peter's reassurance that she was a proper mathematician and Vera's introduction, Nora's self esteem has risen to a level it had not attained since her childhood.

Reginald Keystone

This wasn't the first time that Reginald had been in the Museum's formidable Archives section. It was the first time that he was attempting to locate something specific, however. Sure, there had been the occasional escort into the ordered and oft repetitive organizational system that was Archives; however in those instances there were always others who took on the role of Guide or Scholar, ready to identify and locate the object of their perusal.

There was a solidly surprising note for the Lord Major, that being the Starlet, Josephine, volunteering to take the same section as himself. He was under the distinct impression that the young lady of Hollywood was not particularly keen on being in his presence, particularly considering the conversation they had in his office and the friction the previous evening. Perhaps there was something nefarious afoot. Or maybe, just maybe, she understood that his words and actions were an expression of affection and his more protective instincts toward a dear friend. The duty we have to one another in our lifetime.

Hell, that or she was trying to avoid someone else and thought the old man a vaguely inert fuddy-duddy.

The myriad of possibilities for her motivation were moot, of course, so Reginald shook away the thought. They were part of a team. Nay, a Fellowship! And they had a common goal to work toward this day. So without further adieu, the Lord Major began his solid march over to 5VbC. Pausing ever so briefly, he turned to Josephine, "I say, what precisely were we after again?"

Shepheards Hotel: Hakeem smiled over towards Mosi. "Of course. I shall be off duty soon but I assure you that whomever is on duty when you arrive back this evening will be able to tend to any needs you may have," he said before he heard the bell at the front desk ring and excused himself post haste so he could go and tend to another customer.

Rosheen came over and then glanced around fro a moment. Biting her bottom lip slightly until she finally was able to spot a clock in the lobby. "We have about fifteen minutes to get to the museum if you want to be on time. You run up to your room, get your coat. I will be get the motorcycle and be ready for you out on the street. Run bloody fast," Rosheen said before winking at Mosi and rushing out of the hotel to prepare the bike. Why the woman wanted a coat in this heat was beyond her but hey, she was American, Rosheen didn't know a thing about American weather. Rolling her bike away from the side of the building she popped it off the curb and hopped on before starting it up. Now just to wait for Mosi to join her.

Museum: Neema looked over towards Haakon and nodded. "Yes, of course," she said before leading the way down the rows and towards her destination. She had not been formally introduced to the man and wondered for a moment how he knew her last name then it occurred to her that Akhmed had called it out earlier when directing the Lord Major over to her and the other. Must have been it. "So, what do you do?" she asked. She had no idea he was a reporter or anything. Hell she wasn't even sure where he was from, she barely knew his name. (Now, to find what you are looking for - call for rolls before you post - searching if your character actually is use skills to get boosts in your rolls - be as specific as you can or as board as you like - this will affect the rolls and modifiers.)

This was the part of her job that she hated. Dealing with people. She could deal with mummys and tombs and a myriad of other things. Dealing with people had never been her forte. SHe had a had enough time relating and being able to function among those she was comfortable with and ones that were not mocking her or spurning her because she was a blue stocking. The more in line with the ton that someone was the worse it got and this time was no exception.

"You are going to tell me that the museum has sent two women? It must not be that important," the man said scoffing at them. Vera was a very confidant woman when it came to her abilities and when she was in surroundings she enjoyed being in. A dig or the museum for example. Once again, this was not one of those times, so her skittish nature was showing as she wrung her hands and bit on her bottom lip. Sad to say this was not the first time she had dealt with this office or this man.

"I assure you it is of the utmost importance and we do need a permit post haste," Vera assured the man but her relentless was had not kicked in. She was passionate in her words but the look on her face made them seem less than convincing.

"And what evidence or knowledge could you possibly bring that would convince me that another dig is needed at Bubastis," he asked as he drummed his fingers along the edge of the counter. Vera took a deep breath and looked over at Nora.

"My colleague Lady Kingston can explain the newest findings far better than I ever could," Vera said and motioned with her eyes for Nora to speak to the man. She had her fingers crossed that Nora would be able to convince the man of the new discovery without having to mention brands. The mathematical discover in the tiles was what Vera was hanging this permit on.

"Lovely." Mosi said with a huge grin as Rosheen gave her the green light about grabbing her coat from her room. By the time the other woman had exited teh building, the American was already dashing up the stairs more or less like her life depended on it. It wasn't an exaggeration to say she was skipping steps as she dashed upstairs. It took her under a minute to get to the second floro where her room was going to be. She then quickly dashed down the hallway to locate the room, open the door with zeal and haste, enter, throw her jacket on the bed, grab the coat from her luggage and exit, locking behind herself.

It was a really light coat this one. It was more or less a suit coat. It wasn't going to keep her overly warm and she was frankly expecting the temperatures to drop somewhat at night. Besides the coat made her look dashing in her opinion!

Skipping down the stairs the same speed as she dashed up moments before, she came to the ground floor and dashed outside. She hopped onto Rosheen's bike while she was dashing." Here. Let's go hehehe." Mosi smiled, breathing slightly heavier because of all the dashing up and downstairs, quickly using her arms to secure herself to the motorbike, expecting now her friend's fun riding.

Lauren Ridgeway

Location: The Museum, The Archives Room

Lauren watched as the others separated into two separate groups leaving herself to search down aisle 23RTS, she took her time quietly humming to herself as she searched through each shelf. Taking her time to slowly look down each of the labels, though most of them were all in Arabic which she couldn't read or even understand. Though she did pick out a few classic roman and latin letters, on some of the boxes, as she looked around slowly continuing her way down the aisle until she found something of interest. Lauren was able to read the word 'Bubastis' on it, which was something that Neema had suggested. "Found ya." Lauren said to herself and smiled.

She eyed up and down the aisle until she spotted a few carts that were nearby as she made her way over to one of the closest ones that she could find. Lauren then turned around with the cart in hand, and started to roll it back to where she had found the crate once Lauren was there she knelt down. Remembering all of the times that she spent working as a bartender at her father's bar, she was used to lifting up heavy boxes of booze to and from the bar and the back.

Grunting slightly as she managed to pick it up and setting it down onto the cart easily, she leaned forward taking a slight breath as she started to wheel it back towards the front of the archive room. Lauren looked around for a moment to see where the others were at currently before letting out a whistle to get someone attention. "I believe found one of them." Lauren said as she looked for something to open up the crate to see what was inside it.

Haakon J. Elvsgaard & Mahendra Huq Zalil

Location: The Museum - The Archives
Skills: None

Haakon followed after Neema as she walked down the rows of the archive, leaving behind the rest of the group to their own searches for ancient knowledge. As they walked between the aisles, Haakon kept looking sporadically side to side as he tried to see any box marked with some symbols of what he presumed were Egyptian deities. What were they called again? Horus? Haros? Bubastis or belbostatis? The Egyptian names escaped his normally good memory, perhaps due to his lack of Egypt other than what little he had read.

The search of the crates were further put on halt when Neema questioned what he did. Of course, he hadn't presented himself properly to her. "Oh, my apologies for a lack of presentation, Miss Banoub. Haakon J. Elvsgaard, I'm a journalist in a Norwegian newspaper. But I'm not used to be working in archives such as theses, so from my understanding you're much more qualified here than me. I'm not even certain if I know what those symbols you spoke of look like."

Mahendra followed the Lord Major and Miss Clarke, keeping himself a short distance away from the pair. It would appear that the two hadn't taken notice of him accoumpanying them down the long line of shelves. Perhaps the Lord Major's attention been swallowed up by the American starlet due to her overcrowding personality compared to his own calm and humble one? Or perhaps he, or they were actually that focused on their task in finding those crates? Either way, Mahendra decided on keeping himself in the rear.

As for the search itself, Mahendra looked at the rows at his sides, slowly moving his eyes back and forth across the massive amounts of things. He did see a lot of letters, both in Latin and what he knew was Arabic, even if he didn't comprehend the Middle Eastern language. He looked and looked, but the symbols Neema spoke of were lost to him. He wasn't used to working in an archive of this type; his usual habitat was either in an archive with English labelling and geological samples, or out in the open fields doing hands-on work. So far, his knowledge didn't help him.

Mahendra did however catch the whistle coming from behind, turning around to see Lauren standing alongside a cart with a crate placed on top. Clearly she had found something, which she confirmed when she called out to them. Mahendra couldn't help but smile; so far the women had gotten more done than him on his first day. "Very good, Miss Ridgeway! Do you need any assistance with that?"

Josephine really didn't have an ulterior motive. If anything, she assumed their relationship was patched up. After all, she expressed herself most vehemently during their conversation that she cared for Aziza's safety and didn't want to ruin whatever plans they had for their little adventure.

Plus, Josephine's mind was elsewhere. She was still riding that high of recognition and all-out worship. So much so, she didn't pay much mind to the Lord Major as they walked along the rows. Luckily for her, she had a really good mind for memorizing things. Though movies had no sound (though imagine if they did! How neat would that be?), she still had to know where to stand, what to do, what emotion to portray.

So when the Lord Major expressed his concern that he didn't know what they were looking for, Josephine felt a sly confidence build up inside of her. Like she knew something this being of some standing didn't. She would have milked it for as long as possible, but she also didn't want to spend the whole evening down here looking for this thing. "We are looking for 5VbC. It's a crate we are looking for, I believe." She said it with such confidence too. She was sure the Lord Major would be impressed.

Josephine's mind wasn't the only one that was taking an unscheduled hiatus at that moment. Yes, the venerable and influential Lord Major Reginald I. Keystone had a mild "senior moment" as he froze where he stood, mind all a-fuddled by the task that was set before him. Ordinarily a very simple task: Find the crate with this catalogue code, look for something specific inside. Indeed, he had even volunteered to go after a specific lot number. But much in the way that one might know precisely what one wants for supper, then stands, walks to the fridge and completely forgets what they were going to do in the first place, despite the fact that they are physically hungry and should be able to figure it out themselves instantaneously.

He had even mentally given it a miss as he struggled to figure out what he had just asked the Starlet. Luckily, she had responded with precisely the number of the crate/lot/section of the archives that he was going for in the first place. There was a mildly satisfied smile of approval that lasted for just a second or two before he realized that something wasn't quite right with the response. The problem was, he wasn't exactly sure what it could possibly be. They were looking for something, right?

Nora Kingston

Location: Permit Office
Skills: Pattern Analysis, Deduction, Cryptography, Mathematics, Decipher hieroglyphics, Acute Observation, Social Etiquette (Upper Class)
Nora took a calming breath for a moment, imagining for a moment that rather than speaking to a stuffy government official, she was speaking to her dog. She sometimes would talk to Spot through various mathematical proofs, finding that he was generally a good listener, rarely interrupted, and always appeared to be interested. She rebelled against her own quiet nature, filling her words with a declarative edge that usually was missing. She tended to be soft spoken, yet now wasn't the time for that. Now was the time to convince a likely sexist individual to give two women the clearance to reopen a site where excavations had already been completed.

"Yes, Lady Munn and I have been analyzing rubbings made from tablets taken at Bubastis from the previous excavation. As my colleague mentioned, I am a mathematician by trade and in the analysis of the rubbings, I uncovered a cypher marker. This marker happened to be phi, known as the golden or divine ratio, so called due to its high appearance in nature and its use in the arts. With principles of cryptography, in conjunction with the translation aid of Lady Munn and the Egyptian museum, more information and messages can be gleaned from the rubbings."

She paused for a moment, locking eyes with the official to ensure he was paying attention. "But these rubbings are far from ideal. After a thorough examination of the archives, some of the originals are missing. The Bubastis site must be reopened in order for me to have a complete set of markings to work with, in order to decode the message they contain. This is, as I am sure you have already guessed, why no meaningful translation has been gleaned from these tiles so far. They have no logical sense until viewed in the context of the cypher."

"If you need assurance of my credentials, I studied mathematics at Cambridge University and have practiced the application of mathematics to decoding hieroglyphics and hieratics for some time here in Cairo," Nora concluded. In her experience, qualifications were a must when it came to convincing others that she knew what she was doing. And she did not dare to mention anything that would seem mystical - the facts should suffice.

October 4th, 1924 - 5:59 P.M. Local Time

Shepheards Hotel: Rosheen smiled and waited for Mosi to get situated once she returned. She didn't wait long though. It was but half a heart beat before they were peeling off the side walk and into the street. They were going to be cutting it close but Rosheen knew the city and she knew it well. Off the main street she kept cutting down various alleyways and side streets. Every so often warning Mosi if a hard turn was coming up. Clipping the curb she drove the motorcycle up to the front of the museum instead of making Mosi hoof it to the door form the road. Several people having to scurry out of the way as she did and yelling at her in various languages. Rosheen didn't seem to pay any of them any mind.

"Made it," she said motioning to her watch. They had one minute to spare. "Better rush girl," she laughed as she pulled the scarf from her head and let her red locks spill free finally. Inside at the front desk Akhmed was just about to lock the museum up for the night. There were still people working inside but the place was closing to tourists and visitors for the day.

Museum: Neema looked over towards Haakon and nodded. "Well I am sure you have done research in your time. Have something to write with?" she asked as she kept looking at the rows and rows of crates and artifacts as she walked. She didn't hear Lauren but that wasn't too surprising. The archives were the size of the museum and then some. It was a fully under ground warehouse. Not hearing someone was common. "I can draw some symbols for you to look for, as well as Arabic to reference. Should help," she said before finally looking over to him. She figured if he was a reporter he probably carried something to write with on him. (Remember, just as last time. Now, to find what you are looking for - call for rolls before you post - searching if your character actually is use skills to get boosts in your rolls - be as specific as you can or as board as you like - this will affect the rolls and modifiers.)

Vera

Location: Governorate (E/F 10) - (Permit Office)
Skills: Focus, Mental Stamina

Vera stood there quietly and let Nora speak her piece. She was rather impressed how the woman held herself. Not only that but how she was able to explain so much without going into the details about the brandings and the jewelry. It was probably a good thing she hadn't, two women coming in there demanding a permit was bad enough in this day and age. To have them spouting nonsense might have actually gotten them stoned to death. This wasn't Britain after all. Then again, maybe stoning was a step up from being committed. It was a toss of the coin at this point.

The man didn't seem very impressed and Vera had to wonder was that because he didn't understand any of the math that Nora was speaking about and just assumed neither did she. Or was it just that because it was coming from a woman he really didn't need to pay attention to it. Either way he wasn't having it. "Yes, yes. I am sure that is all wonderful but if you want a permit you will need to send in the Curator or his second. What you are presenting me just doesn't cut it," he said as he looked over at the clock and started to close his window.

This was enough, they had one minute to closing and Vera wasn't going to let him pull this. It was just rude. Stepping forward she shoved her clutch on the counter and blocked the mans window from being able to close. She didn't have strength, or brawn, or a man next to her right then. She didn't have feminine wiles. She had wits, and annoyance on her side. "You will give us that bloody permit or myself and Lady Kingston will be at your window from opening until closing, every day, until the plagues of Egypt return. We will camp out here as if it were a holiday in Brighton, sipping tea and swilling sherry if that permit isn't stamped before we leave this building this night."

Vera was shaking as she spoke, she was scared silly and didn't know what came over her but she had said her piece and a humph to follow it. The man must have taken it as nerves of steel and anger. Either way it didn't matter. He wanted them out of his office and out of the building. "Fine, what harm can you two do as it were. Cause any problems and it will be the museum that pays," he warned as he stamped the permit and slid it over. As soon as Vera grabbed it he shoved her purse out of the way and slammed his window shut.

Priscilla Harker

Location:The Museum

Calling Rosheen's driving a little wild was like calling a gun a little dangerous. She was a great driver indeed and frankly Mosi loved the wild driving her friend was doing. It made her feel very excited and happy. In other words it made her blood going, which wouldn't be a surprise all things considering. She was also happy when back in college the boys did chicken races and she tagged along. Good times.

“You are a great driver! I'm seriously starting to fall for ya.” Priscilla commented as she hopped off the motorbike, also not even minding the people who weren't happy with them arriving as they did.” Thank you, I look forward tomorrow!” Mosi smiled widely as she looked at the front entrance of the museum.

“To be fair we agreed to wait here in front of the Museum.” She admitted and looked back at Rosheen.” Before you go, we should agree when to meet tomorrow, Rosheen.” Mosi smiled.” What do you think of 10:30-11? It should give each enough time to get breakfast, settle up for the day an so on.” She asked. Admittedly she was an American and was used to waking up somewhat later. Mostly because she didn't really have set work and often stood awake until way into the night for various reasons.

Lauren Ridgeway

Location: The Museum, The Archives Room
Skills: N/A

Lauren leaned up against the cart for a moment, she didn't see or hear anyone acknowledged her just yet, that was until she saw Mahendra coming up from the aisle that he was in with some of the others. Lauren gave him a friendly smile and tucked a stray strand of hair behind her ear. "Thank you, I don't have any formal knowledge of the language so i'm not sure if this is the right one. But I was going to go back into the aisle I found this in and see if there is another one floating around there somewhere, if you'd like to help that be great." Lauren said and gave him a friendly smile.

Lauren then turned and started to make her way back down 23RTS, she started to eye the shelves once more very closely but she wasn't finding much at the moment as she checked the first few shelves. Looking over towards Mahendra, she was still curious about the man who fainted multiple times back in Vera's office after meeting George for the first time. "So, what interested you in wanting to work here at the museum?" Lauren asked as she occasionally made eye contact with him, while also searching among the shelves some more.

Haakon J. Elvsgaard & Mahendra Huq Zalil

Location: The Museum - The Archives
Skills: Haakon ("Luck") - Mahendra (Egyptian superstition)

A figurative lightbulb suddenly shined brightly over the certainly sweaty hair of the Norwegian reporter. Of course! Why hadn't he thought of that? Something to write on would be just what Haakon needed to actually assist in their endevour. If Neema could write down and perhaps even draw the symbols they were looking for, Haakon was certain his otherwise keen eyes could be of use. "Yes...yes! Give me but a moment please." Haakon said to Neema, slowing his pace as he began to rummage through his various pockets. He a was a journalist, of course he would have a simple piece of paper!

Mahendra returned the friendly smile to Lauren, approaching her at the cart and listening to her proposal for joining her in the further search. "That would be lovely, Miss Ridgeway. I'm certain there must be more than just that crate there." Mahendra stated, continuning his approach towards her down the aisle. But as his eyes drifted towards one of the shelves, a word stuck out to him. 'Bubastis'. It sounded familiar, even more so once he thought back to what Neema had said; This was important. "Would you look at that? I might have found another crate! Babustis, the center of worship of Bastet. Two down, perhaps many more to go." Mahendra said cheerfully to Lauren, mentally marking where he had found the crate before following her down 23RTS.

Haakon went through the pockets of his pants, but could find nothing. He continued in the chest pocket, but still nothing. Not even a tiny fragment of an old napkin used to clean off bits of a tuna sandwich. As he continued his search, his attention was almost fanatically invested in his various pockets, and not where they should have been in hindsight. About twenty feet up in the air, previously stored safely on top of the massive shelves, stood a crate. A special crate, one which would change Haakon's life forever.

For once, quite literally.

The crate, with a long side and a short side, which previously stood so solid up there, began to fall. Ever so slowly it tipped over the edge of the shelf, before it began its ever quicker descent down, as demanded by the Laws of Gravity. Even for its size, which was quite big actually, it rapidly sped up its journey down towards ground. More specifically, towards an unsuspecting journalist looking for a piece of paper. The very last thought that ran through Haakon's mind as the crate made contact with his head, was something like this; "Hvor er det fordømte papi...". He didn't realize something was happening until his mind stopping functioning due to, well, getting crushed.

Before the blink of an eye, the crate had pile driven itself and crushed Haakon's body entirely. And it wasn't quite either; a deafening crash of the weight echoed throughout the archives, thankfully camouflaging the sounds of bones crushed together. If that didn't catch everyone's attention, what would? Not Haakon, of course, since he was very much dead. All that remained of him was the massive pool of blood forming underneath and around the crate. And as for the crate itself, it too didn't go unscaved by the fall; as if on queue, the crate popped open and expelled out the last one would expect; a lamp formed as a leg.

"Various reasons, but the most interesting is my connection to Egypt, I would say. I served in this country during the War, and it seems to pull me back. That, and the endless possibilites for a geologist in the Valley of the Ki..." Mahendra said, gladly sharing his interest for Egypt with Lauren. He still found the interest put into him by the others surprising, but even more enjoyable. But before he could inquire as to what brought Lauren herself to the ancient lands of the Pharoes, a deafening crash made him jump and turn around. "What in the name of Mount Kilimanjaro was that? Hello? What happened? Is everyone all right?" Mahendra shouted out as loud as he could, thankfully oblivous to the gruesome sight around that cursed crate.
