Maeryn glanced at the children once Astra had pointed them out. "It won't be long."He had responded darkly and folded his arms. Luckily enough for all involved, Astra did indeed have disguise rings for their "nudist" friends. Vrexen was somehow still intimidating looking despite his tamer appearance. He hoped no one would run screaming from them now, but he was sure it was still a possibility with the way Vrexen spoke. His gaze moved to his adopted daughter and he presented a small smile in reaction to her excitement. "Yes." He answered her. He was going to comment further when she suddenly asked Vrexen to go for a walk.

Why?

His expression contorted with irritation as he raised a brow at Alaia. Alas, she was an adult now. He could only control her so much. They were in a public area and he was sure Vrexen knew not to cause a stir... He did, didn't he...? Maeryn's gaze found Vrexen's."Do not bring any unnecessary attention to yourselves." There was no need to tell them a meeting place. He was certain he could sniff them out or Myra could if need be.

When Maeryn went to look at Myra, he found her twirling. She,too, had become a lizard demihuman. He repressed a chuckle and simply smirked slightly on the outside. Clearing his throat, he returned his expression to a stoic one, "Right. Ladies. " The boardwalk had a few establishments to choose from, but the closest that seemed suitable was the Surfside Cafe. "Let us feast with focused ears."

Astra was glad to see that Myra liked the effects of the disguise ring. Thank goodness. she bent over to address Myra face to face.

“Now I only have to explain to others why you don’t talk much.” Astra smiled warmly at the demon. Her objective of grooming Myra was going well even with Vrexen’s influence. Her eyes settled on the large lizard creature he now appeared to be. As crazy as you are, I wouldn’t mind Myra being a little more vicious. Once that’s achieved, you are definitely out of the picture…

Alaia inviting Vrexen to take a walk drew her attention. Eh… Astra failed to hide the concern that painted her face. Even she hadn’t spent a moment alone with the creature. She watched for Vrexen’s response.

“Hmm…” Vrexen hummed as he stared at Alaia. “Worth it?” He doubted the creature could offer him anything of worth to him, and at the moment he would much rather travel alongside Maer-.

"Do not bring any unnecessary attention to yourselves."

His mind changed with just a string of words from the dark elf. Astra tensed up as she noticed the way Vrexen was looking at Maeryn.

“You believe you rule me…” Vrexen turned from the others as he started walking off the boardwalk and deeper into town. “You will not want me to test that belief.” He continued walking, leaving the others. Astra shrugged and smirked at Maeryn.

“I think you two are better apart anyway.” Astra felt better whenever Vrexen went his own way anyhow. The only thing that worried her was that this was not Aldrakh. They were in a neutral territory this time around. On the other hand, Astra knew Riverport a lot better, especially the seedier side. “We can try Surfside first but there are some other spots we can visit after. I got an old friend that works nights at Shakey Dock.”

Time: Night time
Location: On the deck of the Harem

Equipment: The clothing on his back: A unbuttoned dress shirt of the pirate-y variety, leather breeches, matte black in color, leather boots, in surprisingly good shape. Dagger, borrowed from Tigerlily

They gave Lizzie the 'best' burial they can muster up in that moment. She didn't need to die like that. She should still be at the helm, barking orders and laughing with all of them. Alas, she isn't. The ship is now captained by Nym, with him as his second mate. Not an ideal situation but given the overall experience levels on the ship, it was the only one to be made.

There were no songs. No jolly chatter, and more importantly, no excessive consumption of rum. It was all so weird of a pirate ship. But, given the events, it simply made sense. Tesoro, upon being made second mate, began giving out orders, not in a barking sense, but still quite direct. Nym was off dealing with something else it seems. So, it falls on him to get the ship in shape and underway, away from whatever potential danger that still lurked. He went and had words with Barboda about defensive assignments and the fact that they should probably keep some cannons loaded and ready to fire in case of ambushes. With Tigerlily, he didn't say much. He gave her a comforting pat on the shoulders and felt like that was enough to get her through for now. He did tell her that she can come to him, should she need someone to talk to.

If they were sunk here, Lizzie's efforts and bravery would have been wasted. There is no way Tesoro is going to allow that. If he had to, he will sail this entire ship by himself to safety or die trying.

When Helio called down what he was seeing from the Crow's Nest, Tesoro looked up and gave him a wave, acknowledging his words. Dinner was going to be simple tonight. Stew, bread and ale. Out of respect, he took an extra portion and set it in the captain's quarter, regardless if Nym has eaten or now.

He wanted to keep the memories of Lizzie alive and with them as long as possible...

Caelan & Sophie

Time: Night
Location: The Inn, Myriamor
Interactions: @Mole Aurora

While at the blacksmith, Caelan had purchased a steel longsword, padded cloth armor, and a steel shield costing him a total of 130 amas. Caelan sat in the inn along with Sophie who had been taking the events of the day harshly. She was sitting on her bed, quietly tampering with her phone. Aurora was also in the room as the three had decided to stay together until Slick and Leaf came back. “Are you going to be okay? Listen, I know we only met like a day ago but I am here if you need to talk.”

Sophie glanced up at Caelan as her phone made a sound that usually indicated a charger had been plugged in. ”..Umm. Yeah, I think so.”She said quietly. She glanced at her phone intently for one more minute before setting it down and giving Caelan her full attention. She wrapped her arms around her knees and looked at him.

Caelan had stared at her phone as well for a moment. He was confused for only a short time before asking, “So like what kind of music you got on that?“ Caelan didn’t bother to question why the girl had just become a wireless charger as nothing would really shock him after what happened.

” All kinds, really…but mostly alternative. I like rock music.”Sophie confessed sheepishly. Rock was a loose term for the intensity of some of the music she had on her phone.

“Nice, I like alternative as well, I am glad to see we have something in common. Can I see what you have?” He asked giving her a gentle smile before moving over to her bed to sit beside her.

Sophie handed her phone to him and forced her lips upward into a slight smile. She then took out her earphones from her bag and handed them to him. Scaring Aurora with otherworldly music was probably a bad idea.

Caelan took one of the headphones and placed it in his ear, giving the other to Sophie. He scrolled through the music. “You have really great taste. I know most of these bands and artists. I really didn’t expect this, I am impressed.” Caelan said, clicking the song Mr. Brightside by The Killers.

Sophie’s smile became a little more genuine at this song choice. ” Oh wow. This is one of my favorites. It’s a classic, isn’t it?” She couldn’t help but let her head bop a little, starting to murmur the lyrics.

“I know right? This is for sure one of my favorites! You have so many good songs on this.” His smile grew as he laughed a little. Caelan began to sing along with the song. “But it's just the price I pay, destiny is calling me. Open up my eager eyes, 'cause I'm Mr. Brightside.”

As Caelan had begun to sing along, Sophie gained the confidence to sing the same line with him and let her voice grow in pitch. It was always super fun to find someone with similar music tastes. If they were stuck here, then she was glad she was stuck with him. She hoped maybe Avalia had some sort of concerts to go to so he could be the concert buddy she never had.

Once the song had come to a close, she looked at him, asking curiously as the random question crossed her mind, ”Um, so where were you before you came here anyway?”

“I was playing D&D before I got sucked into a rift.” He pulled out a small miniature that looked almost like him. “See. What about you?” Caelan showed her the figure and replied giving Sophie the same question in return.

“Oooh.”She gently took the figure in her hand and delicately examined it, “I used to draw D&D characters for people on my campus.”Sophie informed him. “I never played though… I was just drawing in my room when it happened. That must have been trippy for it to happen in the middle of your game. Very Jumanji.”

“Wow! I would say you should draw my character but I think we are pretty much living a D&D game.” Caelan paused a moment. “I was really shocked when it happened.” He laughed excitedly “I used to stream games as well I really like the Halo series.”

Sophie smiled, ”I’d love to draw him for you. I used to play Halo with my brother…But I was playing stuff like animal crossing lately.”
“That would be great if you could some time. I am glad to know that we enjoy some of the same things.” Caelan was excited to have been placed with a girl so cute who had shared interests.

”Me too Caelan!” Sophie replied with a smile. Having someone she could vibe with so well was something she had always wanted. It was too bad it was under such scary circumstances and she felt so nervous under the smile she was giving him. After a thoughtful pause, she turned to Aurora, ”Aurora, how are you feeling over there?”

Yuka had whirled on Orias, tilting her head. There was no longer a need for a charade so it did indeed make no sense at all that he'd continue with a false alias. As if reading her thoughts, Orias continued to speak on the subject. Her pupils centered on him as she studied him. "...You seem like you're telling the truth. Or at least you think you are. Hmm." Many questions darted around her brain. If this was Prince Orias, then he really had been in hiding all this time, not just from his identity, but from his own family as well. How were they to know if he wasn't a random insane elf who had convinced himself he was a dead prince? There was certainly no way to know for sure and Yuka found that to be a very exciting notion. She put her hands on her hips and smiled at him, winking as she told him, "Pfft. Totally knew you were telling the truth this whole time, Your Highness!" Yuka then brought her arm around to give him a dramatic bow.

Orias soon mentioned they should request an audience with the Millinias and her mind went immediately went to Prince Helio, who had brought so much shame to his family with his infamy. On the other hand, Prince Echo, who was well-liked, was now dead. The Millinias always had stood up for injustice and cruelty in the world in the past, but now they were silent as the corpse of their son."Yes... That would be an interesting audience, wouldn't it? I mean, the Millinias have been quiet all throughout this, haven't they? Wonder if they're playing neutral due to the tension everyone else has with their family. Or maybe it's because their only sane son is now dead so now they gotta keep busy making babies to replace their other failed attempts at heirs." Yuka shrugged as if she wasn't saying anything important. "But you might be right about it being better in the morning. The older fairies are kinda traditional and go to bed early."

Xavier voiced his agreeance on rest and then asked if they could find somewhere for him to sleep in. Yuka's attention was stolen by Aiko before she could answer Xavier, "Ahh yes, of course, Aiko! Especially when you're looking so cute right now!" She moved over to Aiko with an excited giggle, her gaze sliding to Orias, "What about you? You wanna mingle with the commoners with us or go to sleep before curfew?"

Nym felt more like a shark now than he had when he’d ripped pieces off a dark elf with his own teeth. If he stopped moving, stopped working, slowed down for even a second, it was over. So like a shark he circled the ship. After they had returned Lizzie to the sea and after the crew had voted him in as captain, he had spent every second in motion. Checking, rechecking, then triple checking, everything aboard The Harem. His mind kept threatening to float away, to places so often left unexplored and only constant effort anchored him where he needed to be; he needed to think as captain now, needed to think of his crew before himself.

“Death, she follows ya ‘round like a jilted lover.”
Have I cheated death one too many times? Was death now, simply toying with me? It felt true enough, death circled him, taking those around him, leaving him to scrape by time and time again. Nym inspected for any signs of imminent damage to The Harem from the battle. Despite Tesoro having already inspected the cannons, Nym rechecked them once he was done, and ensured they were secured, maintained, and ready once more for any signs of threats. He found Tesoro’s work to be flawless, and any remnants of a grudge or doubts against the elf began to dissipate. Death would come again, they would need to be not only ready but able to work as one without any doubts.

“‘Ain’t a pirate left who’d want to sail with that luck about.”
No one from Vanarosa, that much was true. Maybe if Lizzie knew what most of the native pirates did she wouldn't have chosen to sail with him either. Maybe she'd have been better off, or maybe things would've gone worse. Either way, Nym wasn't sure. He pushed further doubts from his mind as he checked the rigging, focusing his mind back to work. He paid careful attention to the wind and the sails until that was all that existed. Grief and guilt still hung heavy in the air around him. The skies grew dark to match the somber mood as night fell. No one sang as they worked, mostly the sounds of waves and birds kept them company this night. He had to leave nothing to chance, he would make his own luck if he had to but he would not let his crew down.

“Yer luck’s gone sour mate, best make peace with that for it's too late.”
Maybe that one was true, luck's as fickle as the sea. So do something different, change course, and change my luck about. Nym looked over the charts, kept his eye on the stars, and manned the helm until The Harem’s course was set.

Helio’s request had lingered in his mind for most of the day; sail to Roshmi City and help Helio rescue his friends. It was a big request, but the fairy had asked with such a sense of desperation evident in his eyes. It was clear that those who had been captured in Roshmi City mattered to the lad more than life and more than amas. To honor the request would certainly earn a great deal of loyalty from the dark fairy, and Nym wanted to keep this rare creature as one of his crew. A dark fairy was something he had that Ardyn did not.

On the other hand, there was the bounty Barboda had spoken of, thousands of amas for Ardyn's head, and proper vengeance for Lizzie. Gods he wanted that; one job that would truly set up his ship and crew for great success, while taking out the most famous pirate around and avenging their fallen captain. The story that would make, and it would mean wealth and fame; everything he wanted sat just within his reach at the end of that quest. But The Harem was a crew of five, one of them already lost in a mere scuffle with a fraction of Ardyn’s crew. These were not good odds, and while all aboard his ship had the courage for it he did not have the will to gamble their lives with such poor odds.

He could return to Port Vanarosa, it was the best place to recruit true pirates, but there he didn’t like his odds either. Word of his soured luck had reached the ears of just about every sailor there, to return and speak of the death of yet another captain he sailed with, and no great prize won for it, would only confirm such rumors as fact. Two is a coincidence, three makes a pattern.

Now was not yet the time to hunt for Ardyn, Port Vanarosa might not be the best place for him to recruit more men, so why not Roshmi City? It was a city with a well-known criminal element, he could find men there willing to kill for the promise of freedom and coin. A rescue mission in Roshmi City was likely just as dangerous, but a voluntary one for the crew, whereas to sail for Ardyn now would leave no room for choice. Maybe it was a mistake, maybe he just had a soft spot for both pretty-faced fairies and anyone with a reckless sense of loyalty. That was probably true but maybe it was also the right call.

“The sea’s turned against ya.”
Now that could never be true. Of all rumors Nym had heard of himself back in Port Vanarosa, this one he knew to be a lie. He might not have luck, he might have even gotten himself on the wrong side of death’s wishes, but the sea would always be his home and she would always love him.

“We sail for Roshmi City, not to abandon our vengeance against Ardyn, but a detour ‘long the way. We pick up more crew, better our chances against him because we must not fail. An’ Helio, he’s got some recruits picked out for us already. Thing is they need a bit of liberation first, got themselves locked up. Now a rescue mission ain’t a requirement, no shame in not wantin’ the risk, and plenty o’ other things gonna need takin’ care of when we dock. Then, once we’re stocked up, fully manned, we take everything Arydn’s got. Anyone’s got a disagreement with that now’s your chance to be heard.” Nym announced his plans from the helm of the ship and gave a nod to Helio who watched the seas from the crow's nest.

Orias gave an immediate eye roll the second the phrase ‘your highness’ was uttered by Yuka and further shook his head as she bowed as well. “You know what, you’re right the whole prince thing was a big fat lie. Forget all about it.” He said quickly though he doubted very much that Yuka was going to forget about it now. The rest of what she said, despite how distastefully worded it was, was true enough. The fairies remaining silent about the war was deeply concerning, and it was almost certainly not because they were too busy procreating to make an announcement. So then why were they not jumping to avenge their fallen son? Tension in their family? Maybe, and maybe he could use that. A plea for aid from a disgraced prince just might tug the right heartstrings of the royal family after what happened with their eldest son.

“Yuka, swear to me on Zidur’s mighty mane that you will not speak of Prince Helio when we meet with his parents, nor say anything vaguely insulting.” Orias voiced this as a request, knowing full well Yuka would not respond well to orders and wondering if in his own youth he had been this exasperating. Probably, was the conclusion he came to on that. “But yes, mingle with common folks, sounds great.” He added, and although sleep sounded better, getting to know those he traveled with better would prove more useful.

“Aiko, now seems to be the time where we let go of secrets within this group. Anything you would like to say?” He asked of the shapeshifting fox, and while he had his suspicions about them Orias only waited to see what they would choose to reveal.

Equipment: Cobalt Saber, Cobalt Half Plate, 1490 Amas, Map of Avalia, Lantern, Water Flask, 3x Torch, x10 Travel Rations, Washing Brush.

Kharne listened as Ismael spoke of his past. A military man come mercenary man. "You'll be paid much better in merc work than military work. Especially here." He rumbled as they made it to the inn without incident. Here the group settled down once more, everyone corralled into a singular room. His and Ismael's to be precise, their room had been bigger because of the giants own size. Strangely the two winter elves were now a part of their group, making him look the pair over slowly. Taking in what they were capable of physically with a seasoned eye.

Unfortunately an argument happened between himself, Ismael, and Saorise. She wanted to go looking for Annya but the giant had firmly nipped that in the bud. They did not need another wild good chase and there was potentially demons around. They needed to be even more cautious than before and needed to stick together. There was some leeway, she was allowed on the roof. She was bored. He would have had her start training right then if she was that bored.

One of the fairies, Rue, periodically checked up on the girl on the roof before reporting back to him with salutes. He didn't understand why she saluted, but he didn't comment on it. No point to it, just let her be silly if she wanted to be. She went on to ask how they were and talked about her wolf then asked the humans of the group if they had them and if they were friendly. "I'm fine, as healthy as ever." He rumbled, now that he thought of it he didn't think he had ever been sick. Maybe his body was too cold for whatever caused sickness to take hold?

The male winter fairy, Bowyn, asked where they were going next or if they were at the whims of Annya. "The dark elves are moving surprisingly quick. We were supposed to have stayed here a while to train but I don't think that's feasible now. We need a more isolated plate I think...I could probably locate some old ruins to turn into a base of operations but it's up to Annya." The giant man stated as he finished cleaning his armor and sword of the slime they had been coated in.

He didn't blame Raven for her reaction, she had probably never seen such levels of violence, nevermind death of another human. It was just another day to him, he had done that to someone before but that had been n combat. Not as a message to another civilization. "They could still possibly train in magic, but I'd ask Annya for supervision. I have no magical knowledge and my breath is purely biological."

Time: Morning
Location: Myriamor Plaza
Interactions: Slick@FunnyGuy
Equipment: The clothes on his back, glaive, lockpicking kit, small knife, and a pouch of amas.
Purchases: Lockpick kit, Glaive, and a knife

The blacksmith outing proved to be an exciting trip, a welcomed distraction from the gruesome display the group had witnessed earlier. Leaf, much like a child in a store full of dangerous and expensive things, felt the need to touch and try out just about anything he could get his hands on. As a proud cat, confident in his ability to defend himself with tooth and claw he’d never felt the need to have a weapon constantly by his side, weighing him down. But the war changed things and Leaf would not let feline pride make him foolish.

Many of the weapons the blacksmith had were far too cumbersome for the cat, he knew he didn’t want some great heavy sword or ax slowing him down. Many of the smaller, lighter weapons were barely an improvement to his own claws but even so, he picked out a knife to keep by his side just in case. Maybe he’d get bored and could whittle himself something with it later. Bows and even crossbows were simply not for him, and he had little patience to stand around learning to shoot things from a distance. Eventually though, long after the others had picked out their purchases, Leaf found what he considered a thing of beauty.

A glaive with red and gold along the staff, decorated with ornate designs that reminded him of Myriamor, with a long sleek and sharp blade atop and a smaller spear-like tip at the bottom. This was what he needed, something that was light enough that it would not slow him down but added more opportunities for him to strike when claws and teeth were not ideal. It complimented him, its design reminded him of home, a piece of the desert beauty to carry with him on his travels. He toyed with it for a bit and the glaive felt right in his hands. Leaf did not hesitate to hand over the amas to call it his.

Following the trip to the blacksmith, rooms were secured for the others in the group at the inn. Slick kept insisting on traveling what the human referred to as the more scenic route but what Leaf would call the wrong way unless one really enjoyed back alleys that pretty much led nowhere. He supposed that maybe cats and humans just had very different ideas about what was scenic. He popped out briefly as they settled in at the inn to pick up a couple of other things. He returned later, just in time for dinner, with another purchase that he didn’t mention to the others; a lockpicking kit. During his time apart from the group he’d tracked down his cheetah and sent Star to keep watch over the inn and she continued to do so even after he returned. Following dinner, he headed out with Slick to scout out the best places for the humans to train.

“And you do have a taste for that ‘flavor of life’?” Leaf asked after Slick had spoken. He tried to get a better understanding of Slick the human, who was neither an elf nor bounty hunter, but who seemed skilled in lying and pretty comfortable with lawbreaking. But Slick did have a point, acting outside the law was not something he could see Aurora being comfortable with, and the other two humans seemed to be made of far softer stuff than Slick, a quiet break after what they’d seen today would be better for them. If there wasn’t a lion imprisoned in a stable he’d have wanted nothing more than a quiet night as well. But it wasn’t something he could just forget about, and it would seem, neither could Slick.

“But, I agree, we shouldn’t bring the others. Could be a one cat job though, if you ain’t tryin’ to end up in trouble here, being what you are and all. And, well, lions can be awfully ornery and I’m bettin’ the one they got caged up won’t look too kindly on anything elf-like.” Leaf offered Slick an out if he wanted one as they headed back to the inn. Breaking in wasn’t a big concern of his, and neither was getting caught; it was how things would go once the lion was out that held the most danger. Leaf could at the very least outrun a lion in the open, but that was assuming that freeing the lion didn’t end with him getting mauled. And that was a big if.

“Hmm…” Slick let out as he listened in on what Leaf had to say about the liberation of the large lioness held at Sturdy Stables. Leaf’s concerns about the dangers of such a job didn’t appear to faze Slick in the slightest. Sure, dealing with an extra overgrown pussycat that was likely just as vicious as a grizzly might have spelled danger but the man was just itching to get into something tonight. It was just how he was. The man sought adventure and was no stranger to trouble. It was because of this nature that the man seemed to be more comfortable in his skin than the other humans.

“Seein’ as I ain’t a cat, then I reckon it’ll be a one cat job whether or not I go.” Slick let a short-lived chuckle escape him before shaking his head as the two continued walking through the inn. “I’mma join you on this one Leaf. You see, I don’t know much about young Cale and Soph, but bein' hunted ain’t new to me. Hidin’ ain’t new to me. And I can almost say I’m married to takin’ things that don’t rightly belong to me. Cash, property, life, you name it…” He fell silent for a short moment before shrugging and chuckling again. “But I do a good deed from time to time. Like what we’re gettin’ into later this night. A touch selfish maybe, but still good.” The two were soon approaching the room where Aurora, Caelan, Sophie, and Alette were. If Leaf didn’t have anything to add, Slick would knock loudly on the door to the room. Not a pounding, but loud enough to cause the fluttering of one’s heart.

Isolde Ryder

Ah. She was in another plane of reality to fight in a race war. Fantastic.

This Avalia place looked beautiful, at least. Light elves summoned Isolde to this world, got killed by her new friends from the forest, and left her to die to them and figure out how to blast lightning from her fingers her own damn self. Faaaaaantastic! By the looks of things, Isolde wasn't the only one in this world that had magical powers. In fact, every human did, even if they didn't know it yet. That magic was supposedly the key to solving this war that was going on. These brothers, Dante and Darius, both seemed to know their way around the place. And...the dog man. Menzai. Isolde looked between them and at the guy standing far off to the side. He looked like a character out of a generic anime-adapted manga with that hair and those dog ears. Their chaperone, huh?

"Okay. Dante. Darius...Menzai. Okay." Isolde was doing her best to take all this in, which was easy considering she was fatigued out of her mind. "We're here to fight a far. In a place we don't understand or belong in. Where there are elves trying to hunt us. And the ones that aren't...Left me for dead."

Oh boy.

"Something tells me I need to stay with you three. Since, well, you sound like you know what's going on better than me."

Menzai remained silent while he observed the three talk and from the clear sound of agitation in Isolde's voice and tone, his decision to keep distance proved the correct decision. It was clear the poor girl had just gone through a most stressful and exhausting day; a miracle she was able to survive on her own after being dropped in the middle of some unknown and foreign forest. Though the sparks coming off her body gave a good indication of how she managed to do so which of course had Menzai curious and interested to discern more of her magical capabilities. And if the fact humans all had magic were to indeed be true then he could only wonder what types of magic the two brothers might have.

He wanted to inquire more on this, but as the woman needed time and space and so chose to be patient. One thing was certain; humans traveling on their own or only amongst themselves simply too dangerous for a number of reasons. The most concerning involving that demon and his human hunters then there was the possibility of humans who might be inclined to use their magic for their own selfish and greedy reasons as not all humans will be on the side of good. And whether these three were of the trustworthy sort was uncertain so it was a good thing he was able to encounter them before any shady and dangerous individuals could.

For the time being he aimed to do as promised. Keep his eye on and protect them though if they deemed to be a danger to the realm then if needed would not hesitate to dispose of them before their magic could make them a threat.

The wolf could only hope things did not have to come to such conclusion.

The Bandits

Time: Night
Location: Desert
Interactions: @13org Nuallán, @baraquiel Jomari

The Iblis demi-human grunted as her attack missed Jomari due to the unsuspected slide he performed. She kept her her polearm from digging into the sand before being struck by the sand he fired into her chest. She fell back, but kept hold of her weapon.

Meanwhile, the monkey and hyena demi-humans came at Nuallán from both sides prepared to double team the light elf. The monkey struck low with a swing of his sword while the hyena swiped high with his two short swords.

The crocodile strut past the iblis demi-human who was still picking herself up from the sand.

“I gots dis runt.” The crocodile demi-human raised his shield and bat his sword against it.

“He’s usong strange magic!”

“I ain’t worried! Bring ya best runt!” He charged forward to bash Jomari with his shield. The rhino kept himself to the rear, but crouched down. A silver glow began to surround his body.

The the while, the scorpion demihuman crept from behind Jomari, the young man had placed himself in a vulnerable spot!

The Other Bandits

Time: Night
Location: Desert
Interactions: @hide on mana Kuroi, @dragonpiece Uzuli

The snake demihuman, hissed when his whip failed to hit its mark. He relfexively moved to his right causing the knife to graze his left pauldron. He continued his advance to simply attempt to strike with his whip again.

Flanking crossbow bolts came flying in Kurois direction, but Uzul had moved himself quickly to intercept the ranged attack he had anticipated from the bandit who had ruined the ambush for those in his party. The bolts bounce off of Uzul’s stone hard hide. He had been trusted to take on two of the five bandits and he would be sure to do so effectively. Uzul snaned the five, trying to quickly choose who he’d take, but the bandits were quicker in making the decision.

The blue dragonborn and the pale=skinned orc made eye contact and nodded before encroaching on Uzul. The dragonborn approached from Uzul’s front, and the pale-skinned orc crawled swiftly from the rear before springing up for an attack. Once Uzul reacted to the other orc, the blue dragonborn would strike to kill the hard skinned foe.

The elven woman rushed forward with her rapier to aid the snake demi-human while the feline demi-human came around to find Kuroi’s blindspot and fire on him from afar.

Vrexen and Alaia

Time: Night
Location: River Port

Alaia flew her way over to Vrexen, the humming of her wings filling the air. “So Mr. Vrexen, we need to head to the woods and find someone. I was supposed to meet them there to play a game! They want to be chased and really scared.”

“Game? I have no time for games, creature! Chase? No, I hunt. We hunt!” Vrexen almost sounded irritated yet there was a hint of curiosity in his tone.

“No, I promise you will get to hunt. Just please help me this one time.”

“.......Fine. But don’t be mistaken. You serve me, creature. Now, find our prey.” Vrexen growled.

“Okay! let’s go Mr.Vrexen.” She said as she smiled at him, moving towards the forest outside of River Port.

“Mr. Vrexen…” He muttered. He was not sure if he favored such a naming. It was formal but lack the power “Lord” or “Master” came with. He followed the fairy into the forest, maintaining his appearance as a reptilian demi-human.

They traveled well into the forest. That was when they would spot a small young female goat demi-human in the distance. She was picking herbs and placing them into a basket. Alaia stopped Vrexen, putting her hand in front of him. “Shh.. That is the person we are trying to scare.” She whispered. “Now I want you to roar just chase her but if she falls, stop and hide a little in the forest. Then, when I say run, I want you to show me violence okay? Oh, and take off that silly ring we can’t scare anyone looking like a lizard.”

Vrexen stared at the young demi-human, his eyes unblinking. Without taking his gaze off of his prey, he twisted the ring, appearing as his normal self. His three eyes glimmered in the night from the moonlight of the two moons. He glanced at Alaia who gave him a confident nod.

“VIOLENCE! THAT IS WHAT I BRING UPON YOUR WORTHLESS LIFE!” Vrexen roared, startling the girl who simply shrieked and ran once she caught sight of the monster that was Vrexen. With her first step, Vrexen took his first leap, running powerfully on all fours. “YOU BLEED FEAR! THAT WILL NOT SATISFY ME! I SEEK VIOLENCE!” Vrexen zigzagged through the trees, prolonging the chase before the young demi-human tripped and fell onto the forest floor. Her ankle snapped! Vrexen bared his teeth but dashed away as he was curious in seeing how Alaia perceived the concept of violence. He crept down in the brush, hiding while his prey wept in pain and fear of death.

Alaia quickly flew towards the frightened and injured demi-human girl landing beside her. “Listen, shhh it’s gonna be okay. That thing is gone now; you’re safe. I am going to help you but I am going to need you to run home as soon as I heal you,” she told the girl, who was crying in agony on the ground. Alaia had begun to heal the girl’s ankle, bending to its correct position until it felt normal as if she was never hurt. Alaia picked up the girl back onto her feet and screamed. “Ruuun!”The girl demi-human just nodded in shock, before turning and running for her life.

The sound of twigs and leaves being kicked up was heard as he lunged ahead, moving with no desire to stop as he had before. The demi-human was moving surprisingly faster. What is this?! He snarled. Despite her increase in haste, Vrexen caught up and swiped at her head, smacking her into a tree. After making contact she fell to the ground. The girl leaned against the tree and turned to face the monster, terror filling her expression as she screamed pleading for her life.“SHUT UP!” With an open palm thrust, Vrexen smashed her skull into the tree trunk, caving in her face. “Yes… YES!” He stepped on her chest and grabbed her arms before tearing them from her sockets. “BLOOD! VIOLENCE IS HERE!”

Alaia was right behind Vrexen, watching this beautiful display; she laughed hysterically falling to her knees in pleasure. Her laughter stopped as quickly as it had started. Alaia’s face and tone grew cold. “You see, I told you this would be fun, the more terror one feels the more they die inside. It is the moment when hope becomes despair that death, fear and violence are at their freshest.”

“Hmm… Death is but a product of violence. I do not care how it is achieved. Violence is violence. Violence is violence…. Violence is violence.” He felt good saying it, trailing off with each repetition.

“There will be more violence as long as you stay with me.” Alaia looked into Vrexen’s eyes. “This is our little secret okay?” She told him with an expression of blood lust. Vrexen displayed a rare smile.

“Alaia…” He finally spoke her name. “There will be more violence as long as you serve... violence.” He dropped the arms of the demi-human into the dirt. “A secret is worth what we both desire.”

Where did Annya go?

Part 1

Kaleb, Eris, & Annya

Location: Tipsy Tavern --> Sailor's Choice

Once at the Tipsy Tavern, Kaleb, Eris, and Annya freely indulged in food, drink, and conversation as planned. The trio practically owned a corner of the establishment. Darius and Eris shared a bit of their journey with Annya, and the princess did the same. Unpleasant moments of the past had become humorous tales in the present. However, becoming too comfortable often gave way to complacency. Whether something had been slipped into one of her drinks, or she simply drank beyond her limits, one thing was certain: Annya was not right of mind.

So much so that the princess hadn’t realized how long she had been away from the humans or the others who declared her an ally. This time away, this perceived relief, was nothing more than a vulnerable moment that presented an opportunity for those who might use her. Smiles and laughter masked deception. Faux bonds formed their connection. What would the now pregnable Annya do when ambition and chaos held her.

“I think we should hit the town to find everyone else, but come on let’s have some more fun first. I heard through the grapevine that there’s a brothel. There’s a brothel in River Port, right?!” Kaleb shouted his question to the rest of the patrons in the Tipsy Tavern.

“The best in Avalia!”
“Ya damn right!”

“I’m down if you two are?”

Annya had her head down in her arms when Kaleb had spoken up. Her head perked up and she met Kaleb’s eyes and burst out laughing, “A brothel!”She repeated. “Oh Solaris. I don’t think I’ve eveeerr been to onnne…”She struggled to keep her head up and had to lean it on her hand. Her vision was blurry, things were doubled, and the last few hours had felt entirely like a dream. Nothing mattered and everything felt blissful. “I haven’t needed to becaussse men love my… my… nice face.” She patted her own cheeks but she was numb to her own touch.

“You do have quite a nice face.” Eris responded with a small smirk as she sipped on the last of her drink. Things had been going exceptionally well and Eris was feeling quite better now that she had some time to rest. She was surprised how easy it had been to get Annya drunk and talkative, but she wasn’t about to complain. “If you have yet to be at a brothel, my dear, then we must go! Everyone should experience one at least once in their life.” She said as she downed the rest of her drink and nodded, looking between her two companions.

“Exactly! Let’s have some fun before things get serious again!” Kaleb said with excitement despite Annya’s disposition. There was no doubt that she was visibly the most affected by the drinks. Instead of being concerned, Kaleb saw this as an opportunity to get even closer to the elven princess. “Your face is even nicer when you’re smiling, Annya.” He spoke with honeyed words before stealing a glance at Eris. A sly wink let her know his flattery was shallow. Annya had smiled wide in response to his comment as if to show off the smile with a pleased giggle.

With arms linked, the three exited the Tipsy Tavern and walked to the Sailor’s Choice Brothel.

As they were leaving, a jaguar demihuman who had been working the bar, gave Kaleb a gentle nudge on the shoulder on their way out, whispering, “I gave that brown-haired elf something extra in her drink. She seemed tense before and it was bringing the mood down. It’s nothing that crazy; she’ll be fine. ” He snickered as he moved away.
A few teenagers passed by and smirked, giving Kaleb a thumbs up as he was walking out with a woman on each arm. Kaleb nearly felt like a celebrity here in Avalia. It was just his star power. Even in a foreign realm, it radiated with both power and influence.

Annya had needed to lean a little on Kaleb, stumbling just a tad. Her recollection of what was important and the day’s events was essentially nonexistent. “I used to come down heerre with my comrades after we won a hard battle! We’d go dancing...Oooh and one time we went skinny dipping really late at night in the ocean. The fairy prince was with us,” She looked at Eris then back at Kaleb, unable to speak without slurring every so often, “Prince Heliooo was the prince of the fairy kingdom, but then..!"She paused for dramatic effect, "He was banished for losing his mind. But! Before he went insane, he always stuck his nose in our business, trying to play hero. He was such a pig when it comes to women let me tell youuu. I would tell that asshole off every time I saw him. Ugh! I bet you he went to that brothel dozens of times. Anywaaayy, that guy went flying out of the ocean with a huge crab stuck on his toe. Screamed like a girl. Wish you two could have seen it!”

“Sure, wish I could have seen the look on that dude’s face. Serves him right.” In reality, Kaleb felt he could relate to this Prince Helio some. “And you have moves?” Kaleb briefly jiggled his shoulders to mock dancing. Annya had grinned and jiggled her shoulders back in response.

“Hmmm looks like someone’s got the juice.” A smooth-talking hippo demi-human wearing eye-protectors and a formal outfit commented at the door of the Sailor’s Choice. “You three coming inside?”

“We’re definitely coming inside, but isn’t that the point?” Kaleb was oddly comfortable taking the lead here. The hippo demi-human grinned while nodding as he let the trio into the establishment. The brothel was dimly lit by the candlelight that permitted the shadows to sway in a gentle dance and gave the red furnishings a hue that emphasized passion. The air was almost polluted by the fragrance of perfume. An aroma that deliberately masked raw scent intimacy. The senses were struck, and the available prostitutes capitalized on this by approaching the trio. Their forms were either lithe, voluptuous, or brawny. Three flavors, and many avenues for passion.

“An excellent point. A one cat and one man job it is then.” Leaf said with a deep laugh as Slick pointed out he was not a cat. He nodded as Slick hinted at his past before coming to Avalia, one of thievery and excitement that Leaf understood without further questions.

“A good deed and a bit o’ mischief, finest pairing for a night one can have.” Leaf said, a toothy grin forming. That was the thing about trouble, planning it out, anticipating it, everything that went into pulling off a perfect job was half the fun of it. The rest of the fun would come later, with sneaking and outwitting, with watching that lion finally run free off into the desert to have a chance at a real life.

Leaf didn’t know much about Sophie and Caelen, what their lives had been like before they’d entered Avalia but he knew they wouldn’t need extra hands for this. More unknown factors would only mean complications, but two experienced thieves, and Leaf was pretty confident Slick was telling the truth now, could work fast and efficiently. So he waited at the door as Slick gave a sharp knock, with no plans to tell the others what they planned to do this night.

Aiko Yume

Time: Night
Location: River Fairy Kingdom
Inventory: Lightly-ornate robes, pouch of amas, parasol, peacock fan
Interactions: Xavier @Potter *cough*, Yuka @princess, Orias @Helo

It was shaping up to be a good night. Having the fun-loving Yuka along for some sight-seeing and bar hopping would ensure a good time, and it almost seemed like there wouldn't be any wet blankets, until Orias directed his attention toward them. "Secrets?" Aiko looked around at the people nearby, the thin crowds. "Oh, should we not meet with more secrecy? You leave that to me. You just go and rest for now, if you like. We will gush about our secrets in secrecy tonight, if you are so eager."

Secrecy was pretty easy. Just visit someone in their dreams. Aiko could exert enough influence on the mind to help a person remember it, but reinforcing it through the next day would definitely help. They'd need to get into a library, there might be demonology books they could use to help Orias remember their discussion to come.

"But, let's not dampen the moment. If nothing else, you should take the opportunity to engage with the local traditions and culture, if you will not rest." It will make for a wonderful backdrop to our chat in your dreams. "Show your future allies what kind of man you are."

Aurora had been meditating her prayers while Caelan and Sophie interacted with each other. There was not much she could do for them while they stilled themselves inside the inn. To them, she thought herself to be old and too wise for their liking to cause much entertainment for the youth of a human. Her business had never been in entertaining… even with ideas or thoughts, she was simply taught to engage with the truth and nothing else.

As she repeated a few differing mantras quietly in her mind, a tune began humming into her concentration. It was some noise with a strange rhythm. The beats were fast and direct. The impulsive nature turned Aurora’s attention, almost hurting her sensitive ears. It was the sound of a male voice, and Oh! Caelan and Sophie were singing to this sound together. The elf listened to them, allowing the therapeutic ease of their natures join together. For several seconds, their harmony sounded healthy, strong and in union. It was enjoyable to hear. However, as the song came to an end, the fear and hesitation crept back into their voices — although, there was something healed between their two different tones now.

“I am well, thank you for inquiring,” Aurora spoke. Her gentle nature kept her guard, between even the humans and her core. She wished to be more nurturing, but she found the humans needed fo find their independence outside of her own. They were finding within each other, and rightfully so, she saw such an intricate design that different between humans and other creatures. She thought to tell them this, but she had thoughts against provoking the two’s innocent connection.

“I am simply praying. It is what I have been called to do. It is my purpose,” she quieted herself as she let out a breath of silent prayer. And with a whisk of whimsical nature, having caught their attention so suddenly, she continued “I am happy you two are finding good cheer, again. If there is anything I can do to further assist you, please, allow me to help.” With her hands clasped in her lap, she allowed the moment to pass, but it was shaken by the sound of voices conspiring and a knock on the door.

“It is Slick and Lead, thank goodness they have come back.” A polite smile graced her lips. She stood from her place and walked towards the door. She kept the bolt on the door as she opened it and whispered in a serious tone, “What is the password?” Rhe whiteness of her cloak and hair could be seen through the crack opening.

While Myra was a bit confused on why Alaia seemed to be so interested on Vrexen, but since both Astra and Maeryn seemed fine with both of them going somewhere by themselves, Myra simply didn't pay much mind to it. Even if she didn't know Alaia that well, she knew that Vrexen was more than capable of taking care of himself. Besides, if something happened, Myra had a sneaking suspicion that they would definitely know pretty quickly, given the... previous experiences they had with Vrexen losing his calm.

The fact that Astra seemed satisfied when Myra shown that she liked the disguise ring made Myra feel happy as well, smiling back at Astra.

The moment the conversation changed to food and the places they would visit though, Myra looked at both Astra and Maeryn with a curious expression. When Maeryn mentioned for them to 'feast with focused ears' though, Myra looked at him and Astra, wiggling her ears with a smug, confident expression. Despite how noisy cities normally are, Myra was more than confident in her senses now that she was a bit more accustomed with cities in general. If something happened, she would definitely know.

The fact that Jomari was not only able, but willing to use his powers to defend himself made Nuallán breathe easier. That meant that he wouldn't have to babysit the human while fighting against all the bandits by himself. In truth, Nuallán didn't expect Jomari to be able to take the bandits down by himself, but as long as he was able to keep himself alive for a while, it was already good enough.

The first attack, made by Ibis bandit towards Jomari attack was dodged thanks to him having used his power to slide and throw a chunk of sand towards the female bandit. At that very moment, both the monkey and the hyena bandits made a simultaneous attack, trying to hit Nuallán with a combined attack. Seeing both of them swinging their weapons towards him, Nuallán immediately reacted by bending his body forward and jumping with a quick impulse, his body slipping between both attacks as they missed him by mere centimeters.

Using the momentum from his jump, in order to buy him enough breathing room to land and reposition without suffering another attack from the hyena and the monkey, Nuallán swung his sword in a wide arc around him as he landed, his blade extending into a whip as he did so, before it quickly went back to it's normal, blade form. At the same time, with his free hand, he sneakily threw two throwing daggers, one towards the throat of the the Ibis bandit, who was still dazed after Jomari's attack and the second one towards the scorpion bandit, who was approaching Jomari from behind.

"Pay attention! Keep your eyes open, always know where your enemies are and always strike to kill!" Nuallán shouted towards Jomari, alerting him to the scorpion bandit as he landed and quickly repositioned himself with a quick and agile jump back, trying to close the distance between him and Jomari even if just by a bit, so he could interfere if the human got himself into too much trouble.
