Cedric's guards quickly 'jumped' down from Mu's wall of air, just as the cieling above dissolved, but it didn't save them from Solf/Patel's tendrils, which crushed/stabbed them with pieces of masonry. As for Cedric himself, he had flown down from the dissolving cieling, and was now blasting from his shotgun above Patel, carefully avoiding Mu so as not to incite his ire. At the same time, several sphere-shaped Attack Drones, which had diverted all their power to shields, began trying to ram Patel's arms, so as to further disrupt her efforts; the idea was that the shielded drones would mess with the aetheric 'arms' used by the unknown Meta.

"Blow up the back walls!" said the 20-year old. "Transfer all data from the Computer Core to the backups in other HQs, then blow it up!"

Mu

Mu was both pleased and annoyed that his attack failed. That meant he was back up to thirty, but it also meant that he hadn't gotten to kill anyone yet. It was very annoying, and he still had another thirty minutes until he could really cut loose. Another thing, what was with those damnable arms going everywhere and stealing his kills. Unlike everyone else, he could see both types of arms clearly through use of Kuro's otherworldly sight, and was able to avoid or block any that came his way by matter surfing or forming an air wall to block the hunks of debris thrown his way. Staring at the annoyance, he snapped his fingers, and around the hooded a large sphere of energy would rapidly form around the hooded figure, unless he managed to escape. It had five cracks overlapping each other from the top of the sphere to the bottom. whether he escaped or not, on either side of Patel, a multitude of cracks would form and send a barrage of lightning bolts and fire balls at him.

Sebastian

Sebastian had infiltrated the crowd along with Camille and Vince, but he was staying back and away from the action, waiting to see how things turn out before he makes any moves.

Jaden

Jaden believes that this attack is stupid and a waste of time, as well as resources. They have a larger threat coming down on them, to large to waste time on trivial matter such as this assault. As such, Jaden has refused to participate in it. Current location unknown.

As the helicopter moved in the people on the roof hurried to get in as it lowered it's large rear door. There was only one person whose eyes weren't fixed on the sight of rescue.

One of his old comrades tapped Simon on the shoulder, "Hey dude, what are you doing. We won't be able to get out in this batch if you don't hurry up."

Simon looked down at the small book he'd taken from the crumpled remains of the Owlman's jacket. "Do we deserve that?" He asked, looking up with fire in his eyes. "Do any of us really deserve to get out before them?" Shrugging their hand away, he shoved the book into his pocket before heading to the door. "Besides, I have something to return to him. I'll go last."

With unnatural speed he dashed back into the building as the chopper lifted off for a nearby park. There were still people in this building, and the only safe way out was up.

He was finally going to do something worthwhile with his life.

---

The Owlman heard her before he could see her. A sound like falling sand, accompanied by a calm heartbeat. He silently lifted off the ground, drifting over to the other aircraft hangers. He landed on top of one in time to see a young girl reach into a helicopters engine block and reduce the whole thing to nothing with a touch.

An undergrounder, like before. A bad match up, like before. He had what he wanted. He could fly back up to the roof, carry people down one by one. No one would ever know he'd seen her. But then he looked over at the people that continued to pour out the back entrance. A group just milling there in the parking lot, not moving. What the hell was that? Why the hell were they staying so close to the building? Why weren't they getting away? Had they not been told anything?

This girl, if she could do to them what she'd done to the engine she couldn't be allowed to go mingle with that group. So, from his vantage point looking right down at her, he SCREECEEEEHED.

Aya clamped her hands over her ears when a screech split through the air. Looking up she found the source of the noise: The Owlman. You couldn't live in the city without knowing about him, and Aya had seen him here and there in the building. In spite of his appearance, he was actually rather benign – charming even, with his dapper way of dressing that made him more comical than frightening. The screech though chilled Aya to the core.

She followed his gaze to see that girl from the Underground Movement through the milling crowds. The one who'd been present when Sebastian had agreed to work for them, and seemed almost giddy at the idea of killing him. She was just as monstrous as Sebastian, then. Aya watched as she dissolved vehicle after vehicle, turning them to dust. She felt a chill go through her at the thought of such a power. Did it work on the living as well? She didn't care to find out.

"Everyone, get away from here!" she shouted to the crowd, hoping her voice carried. "It's not a drill, it's an attack from the Underground Movement!" Aya knew she'd be no use in any sort of defense or combat situation when she had to be touching people to even do anything, but this was one way she could help. "Run, get somewhere safe!"

Camille Mahroug - Monsieur Hibou

All was fine and dandy, many copters were sabotaged and many people would happily die by the hands of a faulty engine. That plan would be great and all if she wasn't caught red handed by the notorious Owlman of the Reformists. Camille had only taken notice of the flying creature once it started to screech an unholy sound, prompting the tiny Underground executive to cover both her ears, thus dropping her newly stolen umbrella, and fixate the newcomer in the scene. Her eyes widened when she noticed the assailant's face, and eventually his claws would also be taken note of. He was... SO COOL! Just as the stories mentioned and the various clips on Youtube had shown him. Heck even Jaden's description only promoted the hype for the Owlman's encounter with Camille. She wanted a young female meta to join, but her very own Owl could do just as well.

Though the sound remained quick unbearable, her adapted to it with her overactive body and prime physical shape, allowing her to free at least one ear and pick up the dropped umbrella, only to point it at the owl mutant. But before she could open her mouth, a feminine voice beat her there, which caused her to turn her eyes to Aya's direction. She seemed pretty average and didn't engage in a fight so... In Camille's mind she was to be disregarded. Turning her gaze back at the creature so there wouldn't be any funny business, she'd finally give her little word in the whole thing.

"'Ey... EY SHADDAP! I'm only looking for cool metas and making people work harder to escape! ..."

She paused for a second, barely giving a menacing impression, almost looking kind of ridiculous. Yet again, the reformists were likely aware of a little girl handling both their boss and their asset in one go, so it wouldn't be probable that the bird would fall for it. However Camille sure thought she'd pull off a reasonable discussion as her dimwitted thought process managed to be flexible enough to convince her she'd be doing the best thing in the current situation.

"... So... Wanna join the winners?! We sure love owls~ Like you Monsieur Hibou~"

She'd randomly offer, since she was in a quest for metas, so the blunt approach wasn't to be ruled out. She was prepared for combat, though, as one would expect from the higher ups in the Underground Movement.

The Walk of God - Part 3

It had appeared the Reformists were keen on defending this place. As much as the human waste was a basic as fodder could get, the metas proved to be a splinter in Patel's leisurely stroll through the base. Although would it actually stop its walk? We would have to wait and see.

It started off with one of the higher ranked Metas dropping down from the ceiling and land behind Patel in order to catch it by surprise by hitting it near its kidney levels. The monster had the ability to see in pretty much any direction it wanted due to its unique physiology, thus making the backward approach a rather futile one if it had any surprising effect behind it. When Light delivered the punch, her hand would be immediately immobilized after entering the fifty centimeter perimeter around Patel in response to a patch of steam release from its hidden face, that same cloud of gray smoke would be continuously released for the three upcoming seconds with weak whispers accompanying it. One of the "hands" had caught her from the wrist and of course crushed it. In combination with that lock, a second hand replied with a forward "slap" on Light's face, hurling her severed head clean off toward the front gate of the Reformists.

Another step forward for Patel.

Next came a meta it recognized so very well: Cedric Wessex. Reacting to him wouldn't be too difficult, after all it would just be gunfire. That and Patel had many arms in its disposal. His first shot would be uninterrupted but would end up being blocked by a flattened vector over Patel's head, causing temporary (like one second) damage to the appendage. In response, a transparent but visible hand had been launched at the man in the air and pretty much back hand slapped his aiming arm, breaking it like a twig.

The next step was barely even bothered in the first place during that specific second.

As the second step was landing on the bloody floor of the well crowded lobby room, Mu had all of a sudden summoned a prison-like sphere around Patel. This would save Cedric from certain doom as Patel was hellbent on constricting the man into a bloody stain, but it would be cut short. At least the drones would crash on the sphere itself in exchange for the inconvenience.

Pretty straightforward as of yet a even a simple creature like Solf could tell that thing would be a menace. Still having Light's arm bound by one of its vectors and constantly putting her in a state of disablement (smashing her head as it would grow back, breaking any member that would get too close), it simply pulled on the arm that would be caught in the middle of the sphere's layer of energy. Light's headless and turned puppet body would smash against the sphere, putting both Patel's building smashing strength and Light's toon physics to annihilate the oppressive sphere and counter the offensive maneuver. It would follow up with Patel using the pull to throw Light's body right at Mu's direction while keeping a vector hidden behind her for a surprise attack.

It didn't stop an instant, as it was ordered to do, and marched forward while waiting for the next counter attack.

Pain. Pain filled Cedric's arm, burning like a blowtorch as the man's senses began to swim under a sea of sensations. He should have added painkillers into the armor, he was thinking now.

Letting go of the shotgun, he waited for Patel to brek Mu's imprisonment sphere, which he/she did, before letting loose a blast of energy from an orb situated in his chest; yeah, the armor is a ripoff of Iron Man's. He made sure to avoid hitting Mu, because he wanted Jackson to be safe.

Mu

Mu didn't think anything as Light was sent hurtling towards him, raising up an air wall for her to slam into. However, he hadn't been expecting the vector behind it, most likely stabbing through Light and passing through his defenses like they weren't even there. For an instant, Mu stared death in the eye. Before the vector could touch him, however, a rift formed in front of him, a crack that only showed a void if darkness on the other side. Another crack would form behind Patel, and the vector that disappeared into the first rift would burst out the other. The rift would only last for 5 seconds, seconds Mu used to backpedal away from the danger that was Patel.

"That thing is a little too much for me to handle right now, So I'll go stall for time somewhere else." Mu opened another rift behind him, and entered an empty supply room about 10 meters away from the action, kneeling down afterwards to take a breath. Fuck, that was too close. What was I thinking taking on a monster like that. Fuck waiting, I'm going to the backlot, that's where all the fun will be. Just have to take. my. time of it, that's all.

Destination set, Mu busted down the wall in front of him, which led to a hallway. He walked into it and simply began a slow walk towards the back where all the evacuees where, savoring the kill to come like a fine wine. He could feel the power from the reality core growing within him, the crack situated behind him beginning to widen and spread out. Soon, oh so soon, he would be able to sate his bloodlust properly, but he would also make sure to deal with that monster last. He decided that he wanted that thing dead as can be before he was restricted to the confines of the subconscious again.

Sebastian

"Why hello there, Lynn, fancy meeting you here." Was all the warning Aya would ger before a barrage of bloody tendrils came out of the crowd to grip her and Jake. Jake would have slightly more warning, as animals could feel Sebastian's presence and it made them feel agitated and uncomfortable. "And it seems like you've gotten a new pet, hmm, you seemed like more of a cat person to me. No matter, he'll be the last thing to die today, if I have my way." As Sebastian spoke, screaming would spread thrpughout the crowd as dozens of tendrils started slaughtering people left and right, each corpse giving him more blood to utilize. When people finally rwalized what was happening, about a third of the evacuees were dead, and 10 of them had become entrapped by the large amount of blood behind him, hostages in case any of the heroes got to anxious.

Sebastian would becone absorbed by the large blob, only to reappear on top of it, staring down at those below him and at the owl above.

"Join the Underground movement," he exclaimed, though he sounded rather bored and unconvincing, "Or die painfully, those are your only options at the moment and I personally hope you all choose the latter."

The Owlman surveyed the scene before him, his face as inscrutable as ever. Then he closed his eyes and turned his back upon both the monster and it's victims. A loud beat of his wings carried him upwards, up, up, up, into the glare of the sun.

Then he reversed, letting himself fall back into a dive. Building speed, building momentum, pulling his arms in tight to his chest as he arced at terminal velocity toward his target. Not Blood boy. Blood boy wasn't important. He zoomed past him, looking to punch right through that massive clot that contained even a few survivors.

He wouldn't look at them. He aimed only for the ones that were closest together, navigating by heartbeat alone. He would rely on speed to carry him through the blood wall, along with anyone he complected along the way. If he wasn't traveling fast enough to carry anyone out, then he'd push them out and take their place.

Aya nearly fell over when Jake latched onto her shirt and tried to tug her away. Regaining her footing, she nodded at him, understanding his meaning enough. It was time to go.

But then a voice rang through the air that froze the blood in her veins. She recognized that voice. She still heard it when she slept at night.

Sebastian.

But before Aya could react, she felt the familiar grip of blood trapping her, the smell of iron thick in the air. She cried out, more on reflex than pain, though she could feel the bruises quickly reforming on her skin. They'd only just faded away, too. That was a shame.

She was helpless as she watched Sebastian murder the people around her. Faces that she'd only just started to become familiar with twisted in agony and terror before the life left them entirely. Sebastian's voice was always there, taunting. Promises of death lingered and Aya felt feer quickly growing inside of her, overwhelming any thoughts aside from how she and the people around her were all going to die.

"Stop, stop!" she shouted, frantic. Fear threatened to close her throat, trapping her "Let them go!" Aya knew she was in no place to make any demands. Hell, even begging would probably be useless against Sebastian, but this was the only thing she could think of. "I let you live - you owe me." She forced all the fake confidence she could manage into her shaking voice, but Aya had always been a terrible liar. She didn't dare turn her face away from Sebastian, but her eyes darted to Jake and back. She hated that he was in this mess too, but if nothing else having him around had been a comfort this past week, and even now centered her if just the tiniest bit.

She was startled then as the Owlman dove down, piercing through the massive mound of blood, carrying away a few lucky survivors who had been trapped inside.

"OK... that happened..." Light said, waking up a few meters away from the creature, not too aware of what had happened in the past minute besides her head being knocked off. Nothing seemed to be getting through to the creature, but at the same time that meant that the creature showed no signs of regeneration, so any damage that did go through might be permanent.

Grabbing a few chemicals she had taken from the armory, Light mixed a few concoctions inside a loosely sealed canister. Putting it into her pocket space, she threw down a hole and before jumping inside told everyone to move away. Causing a hole with her new canister of chemicals to appear in front of the creature, she herself backed behind a wall, poisonous hydrogen gas exploding from the canister. And just as the creature was about to pass through a metal detector, or rather due to its rampage, cause a spark and detonate the highly explosive gas. Assuming it didn't keel over from burning lungs.

When he was lifted off the ground by the blood tendrils Jake growled at them as though they were some kind of snake. He realized guys mistake when the redheaded clown started babbling about something. Jake only half paid attention to Sebastian's speech. He was too busy trying to wriggle free. Aya had told him all about this guy. This was the one she was so scared of. He had come back for her.

That just made Jake even angrier.

Bullies. He hated bullies! He was so angry he could feel his mind start to fog over. His rational mind began to fade until there was only rage left. He noticed something fly by right before he managed to free himself through a combination of strength and biting at the blood tendrils. When he dropped to the ground he barked at the bully. His bark was so loud it set off several nearby car alarms and the concussive force was sure to at least stun Sebastian. Acting entirely on instinct now, he ran at Sebastian and leaped unexpectedly high at him. He was all teeth and claws and bad attitude now.

He really hated bullies.

Everything was turning into chaos. Ann was a distant observer from her position but she could see things progress over by the rear doors. Aya and Jake were among the crowd. Ann's relationship with Aya and Jake was blossoming into quite a friendly companionship over the previous week.

At one moment, Aya was shouting for everyone to run while Owlman, Ann's first Meta friend, soared overhead with a loud screech. Ann felt paralyzed by fear as the events around her progressed to quite terrifying levels. A young girl, younger than Ann, was approaching the group by the doors, saying something that Ann couldn't hear. Then a man approached, his short wavy red hair looked like it was burning atop his skull, in a casual manner and suddenly spawned a sequence of red gooey-looking tendrils from the ground. The tendrils wrapped up Aya, Jake, and several other people while many more were killed outright.

Ann looked away as people were gruesomely slaughtered. It was all so frightening that her legs began to shake and she whimpered as she eventually gave in and fell to her knees. But not a moment had passed before she felt a hand on her shoulder. Ann glanced up and saw through her teary eyes that Ariadne was standing beside her. She was looking fierce but not in a rage sort of way. She was staring out at the carnage and did not take her eyes off of it. Ariadne nodded without a word, filling Ann with a feeling of comfort. Ann's sister, as always, was going to protect her. Protect them.

The moment the changed finished, Ann floated to her feet and followed Ariadne over to one of the semi-truck trailers. Ariadne bent down and crawled underneath to grab ahold of the rear truck axel. She then hoisted the empty trailer up and shuffled it with some difficult in her hands before she had a better hold of it. She held it like you would a sludgehammer and she immediately turned and charged the blood wielding man at a speed which could receive a ticket on an interstate.

Ariadne's approach was surprisingly quiet as her feet gave a slight pitter-patter but overall her movement was muffled as can be and within no time at all, she had reached striking range. She leapt ten feet into the air and swung the trailer down like a hammer on the red haired man. Remaining completely silent.

Sebastian

Sebastian ignored Aya for a moment as Owlman divrd into the plot and managed to free 3 people from the clot, but Sebastian made sure to keep the owl entangled in tendrils, pulling him back into it. Before he could do anything to the feathered hero, he found his ears, and soon himself, assaulted by the hound that Aya had with her. As he leapt at Sebastian, Jake's jaws would bite into his outstrecthed arm. . . or it would've if Sebastian hadn't covered it in a harden shell of blood that he was just able to form on instinct.

He might've done more, but his ears picked up the sound of groaning metal and the shocked gasps of those behind him. Not wanting to waste time looking to see what made the noise, he wrapped Jake's muzzle in harden blood, the inside of it being covered in jagged spikes, and threw him off. Then he sunk into the blood, only to shoot out the side, taking a small portion of the blood with him, as well as Aya. The owl, however, was left in the blood clot, as well as the remaining hostages, leaving all of them to be crushed by the incoming semi. As the truck impacted the clot, it would explode outward in a spray, hitting everyone in the crowd. Their gasps of disgust would soon become screams of pain as the blood began to burn, the acidity rising to the point where it could eat through stone and metal.

Sebastian landed in thr crowd and lashed out at those around him, killing those in his immediate vicinity(baring Aya) and soon forming another clot, drawing in the blood from the previous one as well. After all was said and done, Adriane's attack had done more harm then good, as Owlman was likely dead and dangerous acidic blood was everywhere, killing people all around rapidly as it ate through flesh and bone.

Sebastian rose up with an annoyed glint un his eye as he stared at Aya, who had been protected from the spray. "Some friends you've made, and they call us the villains. Stupid, self-righteous, reckless, and all any of them have done is end lives quicker. I admit, Isabella is no better, but at least she'd have someone like She-hulk over their in a cage until they learn to think before they act.I mean, who tries to sneak up on someone holding a semi-truck? Nothing gets me more annoyed then sloppy, poorly planned shit like this. Oh, and I saved you from joining your feathered friend, so I think we're even now." As he spoke, Sebastian would send several tendrils of highly-acidic blood rocketing towards Adriane and Jake, while Aya stayed in front of him, tendrils spreading all over her body as Sebastian echoed a threat to them all. "Attack me again, and Lynn here will find herself melted from the outside in before you can blink. I'm looking at you She-hulk, you won't be able to get me before I kill her, that I promise you."

To Aya, he'd add, "Nothing personal, just the way these things have to be."

Aya screamed at the carnage unleashed below her. Screaming, sobbing, muted gurgles as people succumbed to the acid in the blood cut through all else, and still there was that horrible whispering ringing in her ears. The air was heavy with the smell of blood and rot. Oh god, was Owlman gone? She was helpless as Sebastian placed her in front of him like a human shield to ward off Jake and Ariadne. He spoke in that drawl of his and she wanted to scrub her skin clean of him when she felt his breath on the back of her neck. He was too close. But then she actually started listening to what he was saying.

Beneath all the fear, all the nightmares rushing in her mind, Aya felt something snap inside of her.

"Nothing – nothing personal? Are you kidding me!?" Her trembling voice was growing shrill and taking on a slightly manic edge. "You tortured me! It's because of you I had to uproot my life and I haven't gotten any sleep in a week!" Aya fought fruitlessly against the blood holding her – she was strong, but not nearly as strong as Jake. "They didn't kill these people – you did." But he wouldn't be here to kill them if Aya'd just been stronger a week ago, would he? The guilt was as crushing as the horror, but her rage managed to push through that if just for a moment. "You're the one who belongs in a cage!" Aya threw her head back then, butting him in the face.

And in that moment Aya and Sebastian snapped into the astral plane.

With no one to control the blood, it fell away, like red rain falling on a gruesome scene. Two empty bodies fell with it.

Camille Mahroug - Turf Wars

"... Hey. HEY!!! What do you think you're all doing?!"

Camille puffed her cheeks and blushed in embarrassment as her former target had so righteously left her hanging to go out and save some people the little girl hadn't noticed until the bird had forced her attention to it. A brief 'huh' would jump out of her mouth as she noticed a dog next to the agitated girl from before and next to her a redhead with his bloody tendrils running amok in HER TURF, not Vince's nor Patel's, but her own little playground. Vein bulges on her forehead got thicker as she grimaced in frustration over the presence of that unbearable man.

There was also this dog, which was somewhat random for Camille's dull mind which only thought there would be special metas doing what dogs could do. She was wrong, but it didn't matter, since Sebastian had taken her prey. She marched toward the man who had taken the spotlight like a child who, in strong disdain for the recent events, had to take a time out. However, as she made a couple of steps, she could notice a short female using some kind of super strength to lift up a semi and literally hammering it down on Sebastian. At first, it made her smirk, she wasn't going to help him there, but then she noticed that Owlman and random hostages they didn't have the orders to kill were on the first lines of being crushed. No way she would accept that, she wanted the high score and bring back cool new pals to the team.

She was preparing to use her speed of sound to quickly close the distance between the blood clot and the falling truck, but her sudden fear of being crushed by such a big contraption and the fact that she could always get the young female meta with super strength convinced her to reconsider her action. When the truck hit the clot, Camille already started to regret her lack of action. She really wanted to make Youtube videos with an Owlman after all. But miracle struck her mind when she saw a strange looking body bounce off the popped clot. Her eyes widened just a bit in surprise, it didn't seem very believable that the hybrid would survive such a peril. She used her speed of sound this time, appearing next to the blood covered Zachery who seemed in pain from the acidic effects of Sebastian's blood, heck Camille was shocked to see how fast the feathers went away, leaving a strange looking humanoid thing.

The acid wore off shortly after though, thanks to Aya's counter attack, which gave the owl a break. Camille kept a focused stare on the man's beat up body. She thought as to how strange he looked without the feathers, and his face was actually quite scary with his eyes, ears and mouth burned by the acid. Camille's heart rate intensified, she didn't know how to use first aid and things seemed bad for the owl. Out of pure impulse, Camille slapped her gloved hand on his exposed chest in order to use her rejuvenation ability on him, essentially boosting his entire body to fight off pain, infection and temporarily offer him strength by setting his cells into their prime.

"Punaise... Too many metas in one go..."

She'd mutter to herself as she tried to catch up breath real quick after using her power. Camille brushed off the sweat on her forehead that accumulated from her anger, stress and quick reaction to the events. After checking if the owl was indeed still breathing, he recalled the recent events and remembered the face of the silent assailant who took Sebastian from behind. Turning her head slightly to the right, she locked her gaze on the short blonde with the immense physical power she had previously displayed. Without saying a word, she scrutinized the individual, especially the clothes he was wearing. It wasn't like she'd actually study Ariadne's posture or anything, that would be waaaayyyy too tactical for Camille.

Sebastian

"You're not alone in that opinion, I assure you, but caging a monster doesn't fix the problem he causes, it only delays the inevitable." Sebastian said as he looked down at his body. So her power was able take effect through any kind of touch, interesting. Looking around, he saw that Camille had come over and the Owl had survived. So his continued survival was dependant on the brat and Vince, if he ever decided to show up. "Looks like this is the end for me, all you have to do is keep me in here untill the girl, your dog, or possibly even Camille herself come to kill me. I've had a good run, no regrets, no real cares or last words. At least it will be painless, possibly anyway."

Sebastian flew up high to take a look at what could very well be his final act, a satisfied smile on his face. "At least I was able to accomplish this much before I died." Coming back down from the height, he sat down on the ground and watched the events unfold. If he died, he died, he couldn't really do anything about it in his current state.

Monsters

When the blood pierced his muzzle, Jake tried to yelp in pain but no sound came out. He hated this man. He wanted him dead. He wanted to kill him. Sebastian tossed the dog aside and Jake hit the ground hard but ignored the pain, trying frantically to get the blasted blood muzzle off of his face. He heard the maniac talk with Aya but he didn't pay attention to what was being said. He was too angry to listen. He continued to paw at the blood over his mouth as more blood tendrils approached him. When he noticed them he jumped into an attack posture, even though there was little he could do to them without his mouth beside growl.

But then there was nothing to be done. He heard a dull thud from nearby and then the blood dropped to the ground. Finally free of the horrific restraint, Jake turned to see both Aya and Sebastian drop too. He had seen Aya use her power enough now to know what was going on. She had taken Sebastian to the astral plane. He couldn't decide if that was clever or stupid.

Mouth finally healing, he made his way quickly to Aya's side and sniffed at her to see if there was any sign of her waking. She didn't move though and Jake shifted his attention back to Sebastian, growling through his teeth at him. He too was unconscious. This was Jake's chance. He was going to kill the creep. It was nothing less than he deserved. Nothing less than he had given to everyone else here. He stepped over to the seemingly lifeless Sebastian and stomped his forepaws down on the killers chest. There was enough force behind the blow to leave a bruise and maybe even deeper damage. But that wouldn't matter. He was going to be dead in a second anyway.

With another deep growl, Jake looked down at Sebastian, ready to tear into his throat and and his miserable life...But then something caught his eye.

Jake looked up to see a young girl standing about 50 feet away. She couldn't have been more than five or six years old and clearly a meta if the scales on her forehead and neck were any indication. Jake had met this girl before, although he failed to remember her name. She had been laughing. Smiling...And now she stood, surrounded by death. The expression on the girls face was one of pure horror. Eyes wide and jaw slack. Tears rolled down her face though she had been stunned into silence by the events that had just transpired. Jake couldn't blame her. Sebastian had...Wait...She wasn't looking at Sebastian. She was looking Jake dead in the eye.

Jake suddenly realised what he must have looked like to this girl. A snarling, rage filled beast covered in blood and burns, about to kill a defenceless man...A monster.

Was that what he was? Was that what this girl saw him as? He didn't want that. He didn't want this girl to be afraid of him. There were plenty of real monsters around here for her to be afraid of. He didn't want to be one of them. His head was swimming now and his heart pounding.

He didn't want to be a monster.

Though beautiful, the astral plane did little to mask the carnage around her. There was no more iron in the air to make Aya gag, but all around she could see the mangled, half-dissolved bodies. She'd done this. Sebastian may have been a murderer, but who had let him live? Who'd let him remain a threat to everyone in the city? All this death could've been avoided if Aya'd just done the responsible thing when she should've and left him to die. If she'd just done the right thing then…

Aya drifted to the bodies, too weighed down by her guilt to bother moving her legs as she normally did. But then something caught her eye. One of the bodies glittered slightly, and then a starry mist raised from it and dissipated.

The soul, she realized with a start. She'd just witnessed someone dying. She looked around again and found another body beginning to glow and darted over, leaning close to it. She watched as the glow grew and the mist began to rise. Captivated, Aya reached out a hand, and the soul drifted through her feelings. Flashes of emotion shot through her – pain, sorrow, acceptance… for a single moment she was part of that soul. And then it drifted away just like the one before.

A shiver ran through her, feeling that she'd just invaded on something terribly intimate.

Hearing Sebastian's voice, she looked over to find him sitting down, accepting whatever fate would come to him. He was so calm… how could he be so calm after killing so many? Aya just stared at him, trying to understand. She had no reason to fear him here, but he still set her skin prickling. The adrenalin fading out of her system, she couldn't bring herself to feel the rage she'd felt before.

"Tell me where Cassandra is," she finally managed to say.
