@jakeb1993 Actually yes it does. Just because he is smart doesn't mean he knows anything about water purification. Remember if it isn't listed on the sheet they don't know it at all. Water purification not on there, he doesn't have the skill. Doesn't have scavenging, can't find food. This isn't a "they are smart so they can do it rp" - not on list they are freaking clueless. No debate on those lines. Lab conditions or not, not on the lost, doesn't know it.

That map isn't going to work, you have a hoard of hundreds coming from the south, have been most of the and just now arriving to newnan downtown.

Okay readjusted the CS once more... We are getting there.

Bear in mind i am trying to condense almost 10 pages of RP in order to bring Greg in xD. So the South is full, the North is full. Basically everywhere is full and if you aren't in the city walls or a armoured truck you are fucked xD

@jakeb1993 Actually no one said the north was full, just that they were trying to lead them north east. As far as skills and the rest of the CS goes, Sigil is going over somethings and will post shortly since he has some questions and concerns about it as it currently it.

Alright, looking through your CS, here are my questions/observations.

First off, kudos for fleshing out your post-outbreak skills per Lady A's insistence. I agree with our benevolent GM that intelligence without training (or a crapton of trial and error) isn't an acceptable substitute for learned skills. That being said, it brings another difficulty to light: Background v. Skill Set.

Looking at his history, it appears that, for most of the apocalypse, he was living behind walls in what is referred to as a "sheltered existence". From where did he learn (or get time to practice) Scavenging, Water Purification, or Trapping? OP states that skills must match background. One month (the period of time you mentioned he had been on his own after leaving the base) is not sufficient time to acquire these skills, especially not to the extent necessary to survive on one's own, even if the character had a mentor over his shoulder.

Impromptu Electronics - I am assuming a standard juryrigging skill?

Crude Mechanics - Please explain.

You have also mentioned in the OOC that he has been using, and intends to continue to use, various electronic devices to help his evade the Walkers. I see nothing of the sort in his personal inventory, however. If you don't have it listed, or if you don't acquire it through IC play, it doesn't exist. This is one of the reasons we keep an ongoing and specific list of supplies for the city in the OP - if the community needs something, we have to produce it, repair it, or go on runs to find it. (Cue LLA's opportunity to kill and/or dismember us.)

Perhaps because alterations have been made to the character to suit your vision of his abilities, it is a little patchworky. Some smoothing out is necessary to make him viable.

Ok, So from the top. This is why i didn't put them in the first place. Greg wouldn't have the skills necessary to survive for long on his own without others. He could scavenge as that's not exactly difficult, and being in a crumbling base, you more than likely had to get creative in finding goods. Trapping was more to attuned to creating traps/distractions rather than capturing things like conventional trapping. So those Electronic devices would be the reasoning behind it.

As for not having any in the inventory. He doesn't have any. I was going to give him one but switched it for the water. So one of his first little priorities is to find some electronics and build some more, as well as try to find people to survive with that won't kill him. Impromptu electronics is yeah, jury rigging. In normal circumstances Greg could operate them with a mastery. Without half his tools or services, he has had to learn while in the camp how to get the same results using a more 'brute force' method. crude mechanics is a similar thing, just applied to mechanical objects. He can do rather crude work on engines and others mechanical objects to get them operational.

@jakeb1993

That doesn't really answer my questions.

Point the First: A military base wouldn't be crumbling after three years. Scavenging would not apply there. If you were picking through a store or residential building that had already been raided for supplies, or a partially collapsed building for cans of food or medicine, then scavenging would come into play. Walking into a building that logically would contain the items you need (while not being claimed by others at the moment) would count as salvaging. And yes, it is comparatively easy to salvage on land rather than scavenge.

Trapping: You keep using this word. I do not think it means what you think it means. If Trapping ≠ Trapping, then switch up your skill name to something specific that better describes the skill you are trying to communicate. I'll be frank with you, this skill looks a bit schizophrenic. I am also quite unclear as to how Electronics fits into this.

Crude Mechanics = Basic applied engineering, then?

Again, given his bio, where and how did he learn his post-outbreak skills? You have him in a relatively cushy position, with the exception of his last month on his own. Skills and/or History must be altered to match one another; history must explain skills.

Ok, removed all the extra skills that Lady suggested i put in. So i am back where i started. Removed Trapping as well as i can't be arsed to argue that point or find a better word.

Yeah Crude mechanics is basic engineering at its core.

Added more to post outbreak history to describe more about his skills.

@jakeb1993 Okay I am going to take that passive aggressive tone with a grain of salt and let it slide. This is how the Cs's work for this since it is a Slice Of Life Rp even though it has Walkers. Everything has to reflect real life consequences and experiences. Simple as that.

Wow, okay moving on.

Now that you have tied his Post Outbreak skills to the project he was working on for the military, this beggars the question: What is Project Starlight? In some detail, please.

@jakeb1993 No because if it is playing a part in his skills we need to know how it would play a part. Something as big as this is being made and how it is listed on his CS you have to tell what it is so that we can ensure it fits with the layout for this RP - It won't be approved if it doesn't.

@jakeb1993

Let's go with a resounding and massive Hell To The No.

I have zero desire to have a player suddenly pull random, possibly world-changing information out of their ass to sate their need to remain mysterious, evade GM ruling, or stroke their ego. Rule One in this RP is that GM is Goddess. If I am asking a question about your character, it is taken as an extension of the will of the GM, aka, GODDESS.

What I am seeing now is an unwillingness to work within the confines of the rules of character generation presented here, and the wishes of those running the RP. That crap isn't tolerated.

Kindly respond to the query.
