I think to sell someone on an interest check, it's really important to seem enthusiastic about your own idea. That means writing more than a single sentence to attract potential players.

Did you know that Dante's inferno is called a divine comedy because things work out for the protagonist? Back in the day, the only two genres were comedy and drama. The only difference was that in a comedy, the protagonist is better off at the end, and a drama is the opposite. So that's why a story about going through hell can still be considered a comedy, even if it's not funny.

Name:
Broken Promise, BP, Boss

Age:
Old enough to know better, too young to care. (that is to say 30's)

Preferred RPs:
I Prefer to make my own, but will occasionally join something if it looks interesting. I'll join just about anything so long as it isn’t overly edgy/sweet, though it's rare for me to do. I don't do 1x1s too often either.

Preferred Roles:
I tend to play adorable characters everyone wants to befriend or proper assholes everyone wants to stay away from. I try not to play moral paragons or prime evils.

RP Conquests:
I've completed quite a few RP's off site, but most of them are on private forums or have simply been lost to the ravages of server crashes. As for stuff here, I'm sure everyone who sees me post in the off topic sections has seen me find an excuse to talk about Danganronpa: Tower of Carnage. It's a project that took over 4 years to complete and I feel pride not only for myself but all the wonderful people who helped make it enjoyable during its run. Re: Zero: The High Council Is technically my first, but it was just something I kind of took over and ended up ending the story after just six months. It finished, but eh...

Last RP I finished was Symphony of Espers which turned out pretty good.

RP's in progress:
For some reason I can't seem to stay away from Ari's magical girl RP, even if I'm not sure why I'm still in it.

As for my own projects, I'm doing Symphony on High to continue the gigachad adventures of the espers in Pax Septimus.

RP Graveyard:
I've been pretty fortunate on this forum. I think I joined one when I first came on the site that didn't really do anything, and there are a few 1x1 things that didn't go anywhere. It's disappointing when an RP ends before it can be finished, but I've come to look at them as learning experiences.

And then there's that london magical girl RP, and that dark magical girl RP. I think I'm done joining magical girl RPs for a while.

Other interests:
Videos
I watch a lot of educational videos on youtube. Usually as research for something I’m writing or purely because a topic interests me. I like channels like Tier Zoo and Daryl Talks Games, and I’ll also watch things like Critical Drinker or Literature Devil to deepen my understanding of story telling. Though I also like memes and jokes, to which I’ll find myself watching stuff like Sseth, but usually find myself surfing through meme videos. I gotta work on that.

Games
I have a rather long history of playing virtually every platformer to come into existence during the indie boom, as well as quite a few other indie games. I’ve played Meatboy, Binding of Issac, Gunvolt, Cuphead, Princess Remedy in a World of Hurt, Classic Metroid, Warcraft 3, Final Fantasy 7,8, and 14, Left 4 Dead, Shantae, Celeste, Danganronpa, God Eater, the list goes on. What I’ve played is kind of all over the place. I don’t play many games these days, I tend to pick things that look interesting and go on a decent steam sale.

Painting Minis
I do this in moderation. Otherwise, it's a pretty expensive hobby to start...

Music
I listen to everything, save most country/rap songs. I have too many favorites to name.

Personality:
Not one to take life or the internet too seriously. Is only serious about writing well and having a good time.

People to Insult:
Dalton is a Dingus.

@shagranoz You need to use brackets if you want mentions to work correctly.

I was picturing something more akin to squid games than some televised tourney, but the details have been left non-specific because I don't think it's going to come up in story. Also, Nykannis surpassed the limitations of humanity several hundred millennia ago, so you can't really classify her as a human anymore. But you also can't expect my collage drop out to know the difference anyway.
Here's my character. @Ponn helped me name some of her attacks, so thanks for that.

@Xaltwind Don't worry. With what I'm apping, your character will look tame by comparison.
I find placeholder posts to be largely unnecessary for RPs with the advent of ZEROTH POST HIJINKO but I guess it's up to GM preference.

I'll have to think of a character. It's tempting to bring Amber back, but it already looks like we have some people who fill her archetype in spirit. I don't think she's really the direction I want to take here anyway.

"For some reason I thought there would be more talking. Are you all anti-social?”

— Suki Oyama

Stake outs were never very exciting things, but Suki was happy to see that Nyx was enjoying herself. Not that her love of flowers was any big mystery. Anyone who looked like a bushel of grapes had to have an interest in plants. Yet at the same time, it wasn’t something that Suki would have attributed to her. But maybe she should. She never really liked the “Nyx” nickname, and it was always supposed to be a placeholder until she found a new one. “Grape” definitely wasn’t a very good nick name for her, but Suki would be lying if she said she hadn’t considered it in the past. But this wasn’t an interest in berries that Nyx was showing here, she was loving those flowers. So a good nickname would be…

"Violet.”

Suki’s eyes were on Violet, but her ears were listening to everything Rainbow told her. Truth be told, Suki was hoping beyond hope that Rainbow would start chatting with her, at least about normal things. But perhaps when you lacked emotions, the only thing you could really do is just move between tasks that other people think are important. And if that was the case, it was up to Suki to be Rainbow’s compass to guide her to where she needed to be.

"Friendly is relative, Tsubomi!” She wrapped a hand around Rainbow’s shoulders and pointed at the flower shop. "Sure! Violet can come across as a little gruff sometimes, but look at her now! She looks like me when I surf 4chan’s Yuri image board! At least the lower half of her face. My eyes are usually open, because you know…I’m…”

Wow, Suki sure was close to Rainbow. Actually, no. She was really close to Tsubomi, and her amber eyes were staring right into hers. Usually when Suki gets this close to people they do everything in their power to pull away. The only person who had been closer to her than this was Sayuri, who gave her a hug that one time. But that felt like forever ago. And that was just a quick hug. Tsubomi was right in the danger zone and she wasn’t even moving.

"...Um…”

Her lips were right there. Suki had kissed quite a few people in her time, but she had always been transformed. No one would willingly kiss Suki in her current state. Her filed teeth, the scent of ash on her breath, no one would ever look at that and just accept it, would they? But if they did, would it look like this?

"...Ah…”

Like, Tsubomi technically wouldn’t mind, right? She couldn’t even be surprised by it. If Tsubomi felt uncomfortable, she could always try and get away. And if she did that, Suki would absolutely let her go. But that wasn’t what was happening here. Which meant.

"Because… I like to see what’s happening in front of me.” Suki rubbed the back of her head. "And I decided to start calling Nyx Violet. You know, like the flower.” Suki cleared her throat and looked ahead.

Dragons!

Just as the sun was setting! Multi colored serpents with wings seemed to hover in the sky. Their long tails disappeared behind a line of trees.

"We gotta get the others! I’ll see if I can stall them until the others arrive!”

Suki bounded off the rooftop. When she landed, she had become Oros the Joyful, and skated towards the treeline, disappearing in a red flash.
Welcome to the forum, Glep! I can totally get on board with spitting, just make sure not to spit on anyone. That can make people kinda upset.

I'm also curious if you are enemies with the current President of the United States or if it's more that you are enemies with the idea of the President of the United States.

Dante continued to stare in Finn’s direction. His eyes only moved to the others when they took turns looking through the window at him before consulting each other… right out in front of the diner. It was difficult to discern what they were doing, but given what happened the last time that boy showed up, it wasn’t hard to imagine what was coming next.

”Something the matter, handsome?” The dryad at the counter turned her mug in her hands.

”Just some tough customers.” He pointed at her glass. ”Want a refill?”

”Would you?” As soon as Dante took her cup, her sister elbowed her.

”Verna! That’s your fourth one! How much more mead could you possibly drink?”

Verna rolled her eyes and nearly fell out of her seat. ”Well, I’m not going to let those fat boys in funny hats drink all the mead.”

”Well if that’s how you feel, how about you pour me Two, Dante.”

”Of course.” He kept glancing up at the window as he filled more glasses.

Pax Septimus was a depressing city, but some areas were worse off than others. Most wouldn’t picture a vintage diner as a place that served alcohol. But mead didn’t require a chef, and the markup was higher for that than anything else Dante could serve. Not only that, but it was only the odd sorts that ever stopped by here anyway. Families had long stopped coming to Dantes, and it was pointless to continue to try and appeal to them. No amount of renovating would bring them into the darkest corners of the city.

Which made it weird that there were a few teenagers sitting in the corner. But Dante didn’t didn’t care. So long as you didn’t murder a waitress or something extreme, he’d serve you as long as you had the cash.

And speaking of murderers, The door rang when Finn pushed the door open and stepped inside. None of the patrons looked up from their glasses. They were too busy talking amongst themselves or trying to yell “Yehaw!” louder than any of the other cowboys in the joint. Any eye contact that Finn got could be chalked up to being purely coincidental.

Save for the glare that Dante was giving him.

”We’re at full capacity.” He said with a growl. Then he looked out the door at Estelle. ”And we serve alcohol on the premises. You should find some other place for these children to eat.”

@The World@Nakushita@TaintedMushroom@FamishedPants

If you were to jump into a chat room on Shimr and ask the freelancers why they chose to work alone, you’d get all kinds of answers. Some would say GEMINI and Maverick Alternative have oversimplified the monster problem. Others would go on and on about the perks of being an “entrepreneur.” A few more might say they really liked the freelance community and wouldn’t want it any other way. This might paint the picture of a group of conscientious, intelligent espers who would go on to solve the world’s problems one mission at a time.

That did not carry offline.

Not one bit.

They had been given a diplomatic escort mission that involved coming in contact with one of the strongest espers in the world. But with few exceptions, Freelancers were among some of the most thoughtless, confused espers in Pax Septimus. The mission itself was just a suggestion, and the mission area, even if it was a hundred year old church, was merely a playground.

The VIP and their one GEMINI escort went through the side, but Asher decided he wanted to enter through the front door. There were people around that could have tried to talk him out of it, but they either realized the futility of their actions, or were more interested in seeing what happened next. You could never be sure with freelancers.

The metal door held strong, but the wooden barricade couldn’t take the heat. The doors swung open and slammed against the walls of the lobby. Bits of burnt timber littered the stone floor. If Oros didn’t know they were here, she did now.

The lobby itself was a small space, with two more sets of double doors at either side of the room, and another pair of doors at the far end of the room. The freelancers could hear some shuffling on the other side before those doors were kicked open. Angel stepped into the room with her gun drawn.

"Thought you could-" Angel look at all the freelancers before lowering her gun.. "Oh! It’s just you guys. I thought for sure a fight had started."

"I’m so upset with Ashley ima post a day before her. Mika Sunday, booyah!"

— Mika Fang

Mika wasn’t sure what she thought about the Freelancers. She had heard Fritzi talking about them, but it didn’t sound very good. Then again, she was thinking about appointing Ashley as the head of the unit, so maybe Fritzi’s judgment wasn’t as iron clad as Mika initially thought. But this was not a good sign. There was no sign of the freelancers following them in. They had to know this was an escort mission. Were they patrolling the outside? Looking for traps around the perimeter?

Was that explosion a trap going off?

Before Mika could say anything, Angelie was already soaring ahead, gun in hand. It was pointless to try and stop her. She’d just be wasting her breath. Instead, she just ran after her.

As soon as Angilie got to the front most doors, she kicked them open and aimed her gun at whoever was on the other side. Only to lower it moments later. When Mika arrived by her side, it was apparent what had happened. She suppressed the urge to groan. She was familiar with Sovereign, and had seen Marie the day the Diver attacked, but was mostly unfamiliar with everyone. Mika had her concerns about the freelancers, but in the back of her mind, she had hoped that being paid to do a good job might entice a more professional behavior. But it seemed like Fritzi was right again. Begrudgingly, Mika needed to internally note that Angelie thus far was handling the situation the best.

"Did the door look at you funny?" Mika had already been introduced to everyone as “Cerberus,” so there was no reason to do it again here. It wasn’t like any of these Freelancers respected authority anyway. They probably chose this life because they didn’t want to be told what to do, were antisocial, and couldn’t fit in with a faction even if they wanted to. Perhaps she had been too hard on Ashley, or maybe it was just in an esper’s nature to be selfish all the time. "Oros hasn’t shown herself yet. If I trusted her, I’d say she was waiting for us upstairs. But I don’t, and she could be trying to ambush us." she pointed over her shoulder with her head. "We should check out the area before pushing ahead. Unless you were told to take me to some place in particular, soh-vern?”
I guess that's a no?
Good to see this getting off the ground again. It looked like a pretty good idea.
