If one were to look past Max, they would see the wolf burying her head in the box of steaks, the wrappers crinkled loudly as she rummaged deeper into the box, practically swallowing the steaks in one bite. She didn't want to miss out on the chance to eat as many of these steaks as she could before someone caught her and pulled her head out of the box. It was when the sound of the gorgon's voice reached Iris’s ears did she finally lift her head up from within the practically empty box.
Thankfully, her pelt was black as night because the blood that was on the wrappers and steaks now soaked the fur around her face, causing it to spike around her head. She peered at Theria from behind Max, pulling her tail in under herself. Iris wasn't afraid of Theria as a person but more of Theria’s position. She was the assistant manager of the building. She may not be able to kick Iris out but she could definitely write her up and too many write ups and the troublemakers would be kicked out of the building. Plus, she could go get the actual manager and that gargoyle, that's someone Iris is a little afraid of.
She tried to shrink down as best she could when Theria turned her eyes on her, looking up at her with bright, wide eyes. She tried to look as innocent as she could manage. She smiled lightly, thumping her tail ever so lightly on the ground. Play puppy. Play cute and innocent. People can't help but love puppies. Be a puppy. She felt she did a pretty decent job at puppy dog eyes. She had been practicing it, after all.
As Qayma walked into the area, Iris let out a loud huff.
“More people to see what's going on.” She muttered to herself quietly. She was getting tired from eating all the steaks and it made her a little on the cranky side. Sleep means Iris gets control of the body again and the wolf isn't sure the next time she'll get a chance out, so she fights it like a toddler fighting naptime.
Iris was so relieved when Velvet took the attention away from her. She let herself relax just a bit as the others addressed Velvet. She was no longer the center of any attention and that was definitely how she rathered it, especially when her eyes fell on the damage she had done to Velvet. She saw the broken bone, torn flesh, and damaged muscle and she let out a low whine. She may have gone a little overboard. Sure, Velvet needed to be punished for attacking another resident, but now that she had meat in her belly and was thinking a little more civilly, she had a few feelings of guilt. She had taken it too far. She blamed it on having just come from a night of the full moon and on an empty stomach. It can make her a bit- feral.
When Max called To Iris like a dog and patted his thigh, Iris let her lids droop and she peered up at him from under her lashes. This man did not just call her like a dog. There is no way he's just out here calling her like she's some kind of puppy? Who does he thin- wait, where's he going with the steaks? Iris stook up and gave a stretch with a mighty yawn. Her claws clicked on the ground a moment before she straightened and followed behind Max with a quick trot.
“Where you going? I'm not done with those steaks!” She followed him out Into the courtyard, blinking fiercely into the sunlight. Her blue eyes in her wolf form took in the sun differently than her brown ones in human form, so it took her a moment to adjust to the brightness.
Once she could see properly, she pressed her face into the grass and began rubbing the blood off her fur, which then turned into her just enjoying the cool caress of the morning dew and rolling along the grass, her paws in the air for a moment before she went sprawling with her arms and legs spread wide.
“You should try this Max! It's so cool and refreshing!” She was breathing slightly heavy from the play as she watched clouds drift by along in the sky.
After a moment, the joyfulness fell from her face and she sighed quietly as she peered over at Max.
“I didn't mean to hurt Velvet that bad. I got caught up in the moment.” She paused a moment to look back up at the sky again, staring at the clouds before continuing.
“Iris is gonna lock us up now, huh?”
