@Digmata the whole vibe you've got going on here is very Threaten, but I'm willing to hear an argument for a different move. Otherwise, if Threaten sounds right, what exactly are you going to do if Simonsen doesn't cooperate?

Luka was drawn from his stunned reverie by Ashley's request. Eager for anything to take his mind off of the terrifying experience he had just been put through, Luka rose from the booth and snapped his fingers. With a puff of smoke, [THE ESSENCE OF LIFE] was a faceless baseballer no longer. Instead, the Eidolon resembled a faceless version of the Pied Piper of Hamelin.

"One contained MegaTen reference coming right up." Luka declared before departing to the kitchen. Once within 15 feet of the creature in the kitchen, Luka would have his Eidolon begin playing a calming melody on the pipe. Meanwhile, Luka himself would use his ability to will the creature into a state of calm and compliance so that he could lead it back out to the others.

The Magician - Positive - You achieve the impossible

Luka, your Eidolon marches merrily into the diner's kitchen, piping away on his flute, and--fittingly--you follow. Getting within fifteen feet of the creature requires you to walk all the way into the doorway, but no further, and you manage to stay in range to maintain Ashley and Emily's disguises.

The kitchen is an absolute wreck. Tubs of condiments have been upended and the creature's frantic movements have smeared them across the floor, making it look like an abstract painting in mayo, ketchup, and mustard. Pots, pans, and dishes have been knocked over, and sit in piles on every surface, including the mayo puddle. The sound of crashing stainless steel stopped moments before you walked in, and you can see the cause of the sudden silence: the creature sits in the middle of the floor, dripping ketchup from its spindly appendages. Its head has become lodged in a metal pan, which it is having a surprising amount of trouble removing.

As your Eidolon gets within range of it, the creature's efforts cease, and its head turns sightlessly towards The Essence Of Life. The song utterly captivates it; it rises to its feet, still shaky, and waddles through the mess to come meet you, following you into the lobby of the diner (if that's where you choose to lead it).

After that, she proceeds to uncap the pen and begin to write in her journal again,

"As Emily writes in the journal, magic flows through the air once again! This time, they swirl in front of the doors, buffering and buffeting against those who would try to enter or leave the diner. The only indication of this barrier would be the papers or small debris that flies upon the gales, creating the phenomenon known as Dust Devils..."

She then closes the journal and caps her pen once more, and watches to see if her idea would work...

The Star - Positive - A new path reveals itself

Emily, as you look up from your journal you see the whirls of dust kick up around the front door of the diner. The barrier is now in place, ready to rebuff anyone who tries to walk through the door.

That's not the only effect, though. As the power flows through you, into your Eidolon, and then out into the world, you feel it push against something intangible. This... friction (for lack of a better term) doesn't impede your Eidolon at all, but it does do something stranger. A fast-moving wave of color comes from the place where you stand, rushing out to cover every surface around you. A similar effect happens to Simonsen, as well, and before either of you can react much the whole diner has been changed.

Objects seem to be colored at random, in bright and contrasting shades. The formerly red booth seats are now bright green; the chrome bar has been changed to a hot pink; even the white tile flooring has changed, becoming a sky blue and orange checkerboard pattern.

Simonsen's jaw drops open as he stares at the three of you. He sputters for a second, then finally manages "You have an Eidolon!"

Just want to make sure y'all are aware before I mark that in the game stats.

Fundamentally, the Marqueses look the same. They are both the same height--just under six feet tall. They have roughly the same broad shouldered and athletic build--not bruisers, by any means, but perhaps sprinters or soccer players. Both have thick, blue-black hair that falls across their similarly colored eyes. Their defined jawlines, large hands, and short, upturned noses--all identical.

...Which is not to say that it's hard to tell the brothers apart. To begin with, they dress differently; where Nero tends to be meticulous about his uniform and his overall appearance, Sanro often neglects to brush his hair or make sure that his clothes are in presentable condition. Additionally, Nero's nearsightedness means that, while out of the cockpit, he chooses to wear reading glasses that double as an AR computer interface. Those details aside, the biggest differences between the two are in their bearings. Out of the cockpit, at least, Sanro bristles with nervous energy; he has a hard time sitting still, and is constantly tapping his foot, wriggling in his seat, or just moving around. Nero, by contrast, affects a calm and nonplussed demeanor; he's often standing at ease, hands clasped behind his back, looking straight ahead and seeming focused on the task at hand.

Personality: At first brush, the brothers are a study in contrasts. Where Sanro is anxious and impatient, Nero is calm and collected. Sanro tends to be dismissive of higher-ranked officers, to the degree he can get away with it; Nero always makes sure to show respect and use the proper address. Sanro is always moving, doing one thing or another; Nero is often content to sit and read or study for long periods of time.

However, the similarities run deeper than one might expect. For starters, once in the cockpit their demeanors seem to switch; Sanro becomes the collected, confident one, while Nero's mind goes off in a hundred directions at once. They both share a fundamental sense of responsibility, as well, that extends from the large--voluntarily enlisting to help defend mankind from the existential threat it faces--to the small--assisting their teammates in whatever way they can. While they both enjoy a good joke, they're also a bit on the serious side, and they can both get too wrapped up in their emotions when they feel like they--or worse, the other one--has been wronged.

Background: From the day they were born, everyone had high expectations for the Marques triplets. Their father was an accomplished government secretary; their mother had left her successful career as a soccer player to become a decorated military officer. The three young boys received the best education their parents could offer them, and were pushed into whatever extracurriculars they showed the least interest in, and to almost no one's surprise, they excelled in all endeavors.

Though all three showed an aptitude for whatever they tried their hand at, they distinguished themselves from each other at an early age. Nero was the academically-focused one. Sanro was drawn to sports and martial arts. Icaro excelled at both, and further surpassed his brothers by having an effortless sociability that endeared him to classmates and teachers alike. It didn't take long for him to become the "leader" of the three, and if Sanro or Nero resented him for that, you wouldn't be able to tell by the way the three stuck by each other.

They were just finished college when the true nature of the threat facing humanity was revealed, but all three brothers immediately followed in their mother's footsteps and enlisted in the armed forces. Icaro and Sanro were immediately tapped for the Framewerk corps, while Nero was pulled into R&D. Though separated for the first time in their lives, they sought to make the best of it.

Icaro and Sanro worked well together, but casualties against the Cruxi were always high, and fate plays no favorites. A sortie gone wrong left the two of them as the only remaining forces standing against a Cruxi incursion. Sanro's machine was too damaged to stop his brother from launching him back towards their retreating forces, and Icaro made the fatal last stand that allowed his brother to fight another day.

Just before his death, Icaro and Sanro had been chosen to pilot an experimental new Framewerk. Unwilling to reassign the duty, the brass instead pulled Nero out of the lab he was stationed in and reassigned him as his brother's co-pilot.

Notable Deaths: Their other brother, Icaro; died a few months ago in battle.

Appearance: Stan is an older man of slightly above average height. Years of smiles are written on his face in wrinkles that gather around his mouth and his green eyes. His dark hair and beard are shaved down to the same stubbly length, though he's bad about keeping it up with the clippers. His clothes are about as slovenly; his typical outfit consists of a tank-top and track pants. Still, there's no denying that despite his age, his physique is still impeccable; students who don't realize that upon seeing his steel-cable muscles are often shocked to see him effortlessly lift his leg above his head. If he's lost any strength and flexibility with age, he makes up for it with long years of experience.

Personality: Stan is, above all else, an artiste. At the core of his being is the belief that anything in life worth doing is worth doing skillfully and beautifully--and he believes that, in most cases, those are the same thing. That attitude drives the high standards to which he holds both his students and himself, and the scorn which he heaps on people and things which he considers lazy. At his worst, Stan is a shouting, sputtering mess of frustration and anger, desperate to communicate his vision to the ungrateful masses.

That is not to say that he's a dour or angry person, though. Stan takes the same attitude to life as a whole as he does to his work. Life must be lived beautifully, and a beautiful life must have room for joy and laughter. When the work is done--or when it is going well--his is the loudest laugh, the drink raised highest, the most cheerful song. Many students and dancers have watched the closing-night transformation from strict taskmaster to jubilant partygoer with astonishment, but even the most put-upon tend to warm to him in this state... eventually.
