"A million times I have done this charade. The moment people figure it out, I get the boot." she thought.

"But don't you want to see the fear in their eyes when they see who you really are...? Don't you want dominion of this place, just like how you were unchallenged in Vaal Kastrix?" said the Voice.

Ciara scoffed, immediately thinking of Gulliver and Valen. "I'd love to wipe the smirk off their faces."

"It starts by building a rumor. A rumor of power. This could be the place to start."

She took a deep breath, narrowing her eyes resolutely at the Undermage. "Head Advisor, with all due respect, you have no right to ask me about my intentions. If you want answers..."

She stood from her seat, rising to her full height.

"You'll have to duel me for them."

Her breath caught when she felt the cold metal of a pistol against her temple.

"Put the heart down, and back the hell up if you want your friend to live," the guard said to Ellie in a rumbling baritone, digging the gun into Dream's head.

Dream squinted at Ellie, vision blurred as she tried to breathe. The heart, glinting in Ellie's hands.

The doctor, his face turning white every time she asked what would happen if they failed. Above all else, he said, they had to keep the heart safe. They had to, even if it meant...

She snarled, her boot stamping down on the guard's foot, a burst of light bruising the bone. He yelped, losing his grip. That's all she needed, and she tore away. But in her haste, she saw his free arm reaching for her, and she slipped on panicked feet as he pushed her off the railing.

She held back a scream, staring straight down into the boiling pit below. The guard wrapped a tight hand around her ankle, and Ellie could see Dream's other foot flailing; she restrained herself poorly from kicking the guard, desperately hoping she wouldn't die.

As her captor supported himself against the railing, his pistol pointed at Ellie.

"I'll drop her, I swear I'll drop her!"

Deep, golden orbs stared back at her from within the cave.

God, she couldn't breathe.

He was monstrous. The ground trembled under her feet as his rippling, massive body exited the cave. Thunderous footsteps left cracks in the dirt, his breath sent waves of heat creeping over her skin. The transformation was slow, but it looked like something from a nightmare with the way his long teeth were bared.

A great and terrible roar sounded from his gaping maw.

She needed to run. Now.

"H-hey, don't beat yourself up! None of us knew THIS was going to happen... Just think about what would happen when we beat the Vygorns." Phil said, mentioning a world filled with nature and life in the absence of aliens. Beautiful, lush, with running water and wildlife once more. Cora bent her head down slowly, mentally visualizing what they could have had. Her eyes blinked fresh tears.

"Beat the Vygorns? We can't even feed ourselves now." She turned to the Light Hygron, defeat echoing behind her tired eyes. "They're too powerful, Phil. Two Elementals with the most righteous intentions would barely make a dent in their empire. The Vygorns have been here for many a-millennia, they know Kyra better than we do. Her weak points, the hairline cracks in humanity. At every turn they've used our desires against us, and now we've devoured almost everything."

Cora stood, running a hand through her gritty chocolate hair. Sand came away in her palm. Her feet almost moved on their own, walking across matted grass that crunched under her tattered shoes. She picked up a piece of mushroom, examining its shriveled tears. Tossing the mushroom into the brook, she watched it bounce along the dry bed, coming to a rest just outside the last trickle of water. It was only a matter of time before the brook dried up as well.

She picked up a twig, knocking another chunk of old mushroom into the brook. Her eyes locked with Phil's, snapping the stick in half before throwing that in too. "Their hand hovers over our last chess piece, the King. And like the Haven, death will be swift."

Unable to stomach all the death in the Haven, Cora moved closer to Phil and the entrance. Breathing in the refreshing fumes of the trash and dirt outside, Cora examined the remains of the metal cuffs around her wrists. A few links still clung to each, but the metal cuff itself was loose. It was her souvenir of the aliens, and a reminder of those dead. "Shackles are fitting. I think I'll keep these." Because it's my fault they're dead. All my fault.

A howl broke the silence. Cora saw a figure riding toward Haven, waving his arms. "Heeey!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Cora blinked, rubbed her eyes, blinked again. "It can't be... Is that Will?!" She felt weak in the knees. Oh my god. Cora almost couldn't believe her eyes. Convinced none of the others had made it, she abandoned hope. The chill in her chest, all the guilt and pain she icily held onto, it warmed at the sight of another Hygron. Will, no less.

A smile of relief broke across her face as she sprinted down the mountain path, meeting them halfway. She didn't bother waiting for him to dismount, jumping up to tackle him in a bear hug, knocking them both off Tsunami. "Will, oh my god! I thought you died! We lost you in the sand and I felt awful not going back for you. I'm so, so glad you're here. Everyone else is... Is..."

She blinked, realizing she was still hugging him in the dirt. Tears in her eyes, she rolled off and stood. Her voice lowered to a somber note. "Besides you, me, and Phil... We're all that's left. It was my foolishness that caused this. The Elementals' deaths are on my head. The Haven is lost."
I've just added a few more CSes to the deposit. That means we have five active members at the moment: Ginger, Urukhai, Synchronize, Jab, and myself. I'm very happy with this number, and I'm so glad all of you decided to stick it out with me. The adversizement thread hasn't got much attention, but in the wise words of someone, "Eh, screw 'em."

I'll have a post for you today.

Anyone got any ideas about what is happening next after we find out who's still here?

I was thinking we head to one of the cities to A) Train and hone our abilities. B) Struggle to survive C) Intervene with the corrupted streets of the city, slowly making a name for the Elementals. D) Avoid cops and Vygorn at all costs. Until we are ready...
Name: Gilfred Mason

Age: 20

Element: Metal

Appearance: Gilfred stands at around 6’2’’, and of a normal build. His medium length, dark brown hair hair is usually combed to keep it out of his face, though that seems to not have worked on a few rouge strands that fall back in front of his face. His eyes are a deep emerald, framed with a look of alertness, but with a twinge of tiredness. His face and nose are a bit angular, but not overly so, this results in his face appearing harder than it otherwise would.

his clothing style (without the gas mask)

Personality: A smile can almost always be found on Gilfred, even if the world is coming down around his ears. He also tends to keep his head very well, making decisions more off of chess like moves than impulse, but made with the fervor and conviction of a crusader. He will also see a task out to the end, not matter the cost to himself, and takes oaths and promises very seriously.

History: Gilfred's family was not much to look at, they weren't poor, but nor were they rich, so in essence they were what passes for middle class these days. It was here that Gilfred grew up, and though his family was not special, Gilfred was not content in the background and as such he often found himself on the opposing side of the law, though his intentions were always to help someone. When his family discovered his... abilities they sent him away as much to protect themselves as him. He was to be sent to a relative's in another city, but decided against it at the last moment, a feeling of wanderlust stopping him from continuing.

Feel for element: He wields it as one would wield a sword properly, as an extension of one’s self instead of a foreign tool.

Enchanted items:
Gauntlets Of Vulcan:

Each of these Gauntlets are a deep brass color and look to be made of highly stylized plate mail. On the center of the forearm guard of each is a silver shard which seems to be the center of the stylization.

  • Shatter: Worn of the right hand Shatter is the most offence oriented of the two, as it is able to be fragmented into razor sharp shards and reconstituted with little power drain .

  • Unity: Worn of the left hand, Unity is the opposite of Shatter, as it is able to fuse metal together at a molecular level, in essence it is able to cold forge pieces of metal. Some items, such as the Aegis, gain interesting properties when unity affects them.

Clarent:
"The Sword of Peace" and "The King's Betrayer", Clarent is a strong, old blade that shows no signs of age or weakness anywhere. The blade of the broadsword itself has a sheen like freshly polished steel, and is set in a hilt and cross guard made of a darker metal and strong wood.

Immunity: the Aegis of the Behemoth: Gilfred's immunity takes the form of heavy plate armor that forms wherever he is attacked (eg. if a bullet would hit his chest it is deflected off the breastplate that formed, a knife aimed at his legs would bounce off the grieves, and so on). Under certain situations the entire suit can materialize. Unity can be used to fuse the Aegis into a solid suit, with a bit of concentration and power drain, though it still remains flexible, as if the chain link joints were still separate peaces

Pet: Gawain, an Enfield
Name: Phil Ripley

Age: 18

Element: Light

Appearance:

Personaliy: Serious, Apprehensive yet Calm and Sociable around people he trusts.

History: Phil's Parents where miners within the rock hills when they was murdered, "Too-Much up-keep" and "A drain on our resources" a couple of the guards said with certainty. Phil escaped the mines at the age of 16. he didn't want freedom though, he wanted revenge. he walked around for around a year, fighting to survive and find a way to mould his revenge. At the age of 18 somewhere in Atlanta, He awoke with a shock, his hands glowed a gentle white that made the people around him, not run in fear, but just stare with a calm gaze. This happened, at least, until his hand erupted with a blinding light which caused a small dragon, the size of someone's head to appear. Phil was... calm as the dragon spoke " I am Toran, The dragon of knowledge and light" He spoke with a wise tone "You must leave, they are probably looking for us as I speak, Just know I am here to help and will always be with you". Phil escaped Atlanta with his haste and decided he would make his way towards Nature's Haven.

Feel for element: Phil can altar light around him which allows him to conjure weapons or use light to distract, heal and (Temporarily) blind people and animals. The problem is, Phil needs Light to do anything, but only a little.

Enchanted items:
A glove that conjures a ball of pure light, It has infinite charges but it can only summon one charge per day.

Guardian:
Toran, The Dragon Of Knowledge and Light
Age: 25

Element: Water

Appearance:

Personality: Will is very laidback and is usually very casual but this does mean he may seem like he doesn't care but this is far from the truth and can be more than serious qnd even overprotective when needs be. When fighting, he seems cool and collected but thks is merely the calm before the storm as he hits hard and fast

History: Will hasn't had a very interesting life outside of his fightning days. Will was a boxer and very good at it too. Spectators said he moved like water and flowed in and out of rhythms but his punches hit like a hurricane.

Feel for element: Will flows with his element and fits him very well.

Enchanted items: A whistle which he uses to control his Guardian.

Poseidon's Wrath
A spear which edge can split into three parts, the tip can come of, turning it into a dagger. This leaves the second part as a staff which can then split further into two seperate batons.

Kraken
A whip made out of water except for the handle. This can be used for movement and attack.

Guardian: A Water elemental wolf called Tsunami which is quick and can get through small narrow passages as he can turn into water and back into a wolf again.

We'll we are going to do classes off screen, but I'll come up with something. But power training takes up the last hour or two of school

Ah, okay. So I won't worry about it then. (However, I'm really looking forward to experiencing power training, I can't wait 'till we get there.)

Hehe, I saw and I read. You're a writing machine, Inferno.
@Allen:

I was curious on what the timetables look like for the students. How many classes do they have a day, and does Power Training take up the entire afternoon? Were we mocking up timetables or does the story not require that much detail?
Aislin watched Jaska's chivalry with a high amount of amusement. His dramatic sweep of a wing made her giggle. "Aw, how charming. The ladies must adore you."

When the little dragon mentioned his want to explore the jungle, she felt he spoke her mind. Ever since they reached the island she's had a constant nag behind her thoughts, the urge to see what's out there. If the island was to be their new home, she almost felt it was her obligation to partake in some thorough jungle adventuring. "Oh, I know, and I was planning on exploring it myself as soon as I could. It's almost like the school's surrounded by a humongous jungle playground, and I just want to play."

"Dana, eh? Beautiful name." Aislin turned to Dana, flashing her a grin. "Wow, you're the first Full student I've seen. Do you really stay all-year round? I bet you'd see like, everything. Which would make for some potentially interesting school stories." She winked, dropping an innocent hint. Not that she was intentionally trying to nose. Dana looked like one of the other, more mature students. They tended to know what was really going on, based off experience.

She laughed when Henry introduced himself, mischief in her eyes. His reptilian features really were fascinating to watch up close. Especially his eyes. "Mr. Olin, the pleasure is all mine. I love teachers, got nothing but respect for them. The amount of dedication they put into their work is impressive. I find they never have a sense of humor, though. That's usually where teachers find they don't like me so much." She shrugged, a sly grin on her lips. "But Professor, you seem to have a funny bone. I'm sure we'll get along juuuust fine."

Aislin was a prankster at heart. She admitted that a long time ago. Teachers never really liked her for long, only because each and every one of them had a stick shoved up someplace dark. They didn't understand the philosophy behind having fun at someone else's expense. School was a box, a lifeless, routine-oriented box filled with equations and homework. In her mind, pranks cracked the ceiling open long enough to make it all worth it.

"Yeah, I heard this place was artificial." Aislin said, nodding along with Henry's train of thought. "An expedition after class is a genius idea, I'm so down. We should get as many new students as we can; if they're anything like me they'll be dying to explore the island."

When Henry mentioned the cave system to Jaska, Aislin's eyes glittered. A cave system? That's like, hitting the jackpot in adventuring terms. She thought giddily, almost not noticing a wave of translucent light pass through their table. Only moments later when a second pulse coursed over the cafeteria did she clue in. The pulse was very faint, looking similar to the white haze of inanimate objects when she saw their auras. The best description for it was static, almost a fuzz that no one else appeared to notice. And although Aislin could easily see the ripple-effect of the static, it was difficult to follow the static to its source. Eventually she narrowed it down to one fellow. He was on the other side of the cafeteria, but she recognized him from before. He's one of the students missing an arm!

Deciding to get curious on his perfectly toned ass later, Aislin turned back to the table. She blushed as she realized she'd been tuned out for a couple minutes. "Sorry, I thought I saw something." She quickly stuffed her face with a few more mouthfuls, devouring the last hash brown.

"So, uh. What are the first classes of the day, Professor?"
Good call, GMs. This is sweet~! Advanced is my favourite. ^^
Aislin woke to darkness. The window outside showed a canopy of stars; dawn had yet to rise. Grogginess left her body faster than she would have liked. It was always the same story in an unfamiliar place. Once she was up, she was up even if it was an ungodly hour of night. Maybe she could catch some extra Z's at lunch. Or be the first kid to fall asleep in class.

Her phone showed the time, and she cocked an eyebrow at the 5am glowing back. Early, but not too early. Aislin looked over at her roommate, who was surprisingly still bathing in moonlight. She'll have to tell me more about this fascinating power of hers later. Her pale luminescence almost reminded Aislin of a natural flashlight, it made it much easier to navigate from her bed to the bathroom.

"Good morning, Alex."She grinned as she stepped in the bathroom, rinsing the sleep from her eyes. It was the first day of classes at the Academy, and she still wasn't sure of her schedule. Not that she was worried, the teachers were getting paid to help students get to their classes today.

Exiting the bathroom, Aislin passed by the metal clock sitting in her half-unpacked luggage. It hit her like an itch, and she almost unknowingly started searching around for a lighter. She rationalized that waking up early was not an excuse or invitation, it was a temptation she simply could not resist. One small wake and bake before the world stopped snoring sounded too good, and Aislin found herself popping open the dorm window. Curiously, Aislin looked over at the entranced Alex, figuring she wouldn't mind. She took out something that looked like a cigarette, filled it, and toked a single hoot. Just one. It was just the right amount to get her in a good place before she had to face the day.

Every sweet tooth needs just a little hit.~ Aislin sung in her head, quoting her favourite singer as she closed the window. After spraying herself down with perfume, Aislin sat idly on the couch, spacing out at a blank TV screen. The darkness of the room started to shimmer, casting strange little patterns in the shadows. She amused herself with this until light started filling the room. The first rays of dawn broke out into the sky, and Aislin moved to sit by the window to watch the sunrise. The bands of yellow-orange and pink-bellied cotton clouds always seemed hand-painted to Aislin, every morning it was a different kind of picturesque.

Under the light shining through the window Aislin leaned up against the wall and assumed the half-lotus, resting her hands in her lap. Drawing in a slow breath, she closed her eyes and emptied herself as best she could. She meditated for what felt like thirty minutes, very satisfied with how consistently silent her mind could be. It was the key in finding harmony with her power, and something she strived at continuously.

The 7am police alarm for the Dorms found Aislin naked in the shower. The sudden noise made her slip, landing on her ass. It scared the shit out of her, almost literally. It didn't sound like a wake-up call at all, more like a warning for nuclear bombs or something. She stood again, feeling the bruise forming already. Boy, she could be retarded. So could this school.

"Alex, you up yet?" Aislin asked as she stepped out the bathroom, hair freshly blow-dried. Having thought ahead and brought fresh clothes in with her, she decided to dress a little less for the warm weather. Her tee was loose fitting and wide-necked, decorated in graphical patterns and splashes of gold ink. A flowy white skirt ended at the middle of her thigh (short shorts were worn underneath as a precaution), and she planned on wearing simple flipflops later.

She grabbed herself a glass of water, watching Alex. "I'm almost ready to go. I could get us an early table at the cafeteria, if you'd like. I wonder what they'll have for breakfast. If we're lucky, maybe hash browns and egg McMuffin things. They're my favorite, I can't resist 'em."

Downing the rest of the water, Aislin rinsed out the cup and placed it on the side to dry. After eating at the cafeteria she would come back for her school stuff. For now, the priority was food. Hand on the door, she slipped on her flip flops. "It's up to you, Alex. See ya down there."

It didn't take long to reach the cafeteria doors. The moment she entered all the sights and smells filled her sensory. Fresh pancakes, poured syrup, waffles and sausages and bacon! it was all so enticing. I think my mouth went into over-drool. The tables were fuller than she expected, but that one ass thankfully wasn't present yet. She hadn't seen him since the mischief of tying his shoes last night, her curiosity tried to guess how hard the fall was.

She tried her luck at a custom order, and walked away with a beautiful plate full of hash browns, crispy bacon and hot eggy McMuffins. Remembering to find a seat for Alex too, Aislin scanned the cafeteria for the most ideal table to sit at. Deborah sat near a certain table, eyes tearing apart their two occupants who coincidentally were both missing the same arm. She would talk to her later. There was another table she was drawn to, one with the huge lizard-man and two others. Yesterday she wanted nothing more than to prank him, but today... Today she was curious.

"May I?" She said, sitting diagonally from the lizard-man. The two other students here were of interest to note too. One was a child with wings and sharp teeth, the remains of a fish on his plate. The other was a young lady with glasses, sitting in a wheelchair.

She put down two glasses of juice, one for her and one for Alex (if she wished to join them.) "My name's Aislin, one of the new students. Did anyone see the sunrise this morning? It looks superb with a jungle foreground, and that's coming from someone who lives in winter for eight months of the year." She chuckled, dipping a bit of hash brown in ketchup.
