"A million times I have done this charade. The moment people figure it out, I get the boot." she thought.

"But don't you want to see the fear in their eyes when they see who you really are...? Don't you want dominion of this place, just like how you were unchallenged in Vaal Kastrix?" said the Voice.

Ciara scoffed, immediately thinking of Gulliver and Valen. "I'd love to wipe the smirk off their faces."

"It starts by building a rumor. A rumor of power. This could be the place to start."

She took a deep breath, narrowing her eyes resolutely at the Undermage. "Head Advisor, with all due respect, you have no right to ask me about my intentions. If you want answers..."

She stood from her seat, rising to her full height.

"You'll have to duel me for them."

Her breath caught when she felt the cold metal of a pistol against her temple.

"Put the heart down, and back the hell up if you want your friend to live," the guard said to Ellie in a rumbling baritone, digging the gun into Dream's head.

Dream squinted at Ellie, vision blurred as she tried to breathe. The heart, glinting in Ellie's hands.

The doctor, his face turning white every time she asked what would happen if they failed. Above all else, he said, they had to keep the heart safe. They had to, even if it meant...

She snarled, her boot stamping down on the guard's foot, a burst of light bruising the bone. He yelped, losing his grip. That's all she needed, and she tore away. But in her haste, she saw his free arm reaching for her, and she slipped on panicked feet as he pushed her off the railing.

She held back a scream, staring straight down into the boiling pit below. The guard wrapped a tight hand around her ankle, and Ellie could see Dream's other foot flailing; she restrained herself poorly from kicking the guard, desperately hoping she wouldn't die.

As her captor supported himself against the railing, his pistol pointed at Ellie.

"I'll drop her, I swear I'll drop her!"

Deep, golden orbs stared back at her from within the cave.

God, she couldn't breathe.

He was monstrous. The ground trembled under her feet as his rippling, massive body exited the cave. Thunderous footsteps left cracks in the dirt, his breath sent waves of heat creeping over her skin. The transformation was slow, but it looked like something from a nightmare with the way his long teeth were bared.

A great and terrible roar sounded from his gaping maw.

She needed to run. Now.

New post is up, I did a little bit of auto-ing for Jay, Toren, and Nick, if that's alright. Now we're at the final battle of Caana, and we have a surprise guest!

Caana, North Hole

@SporkoBug

The two scientists merely smiled their cheshire smiles. The lady spoke, her perfect hair curled around her perfect face.

“Now, now, no need to get so worked up, Director. We're only working in your best interests.”

The male scientist beside her chimed in, stepping back to gesture to the tube. “It's entirely safe. You can't have all the goodness without listening to your faithful associates, Director.”

As the scientist spoke, holding Jay's gaze, two more scientists approached Jay from behind. A hand gently, yes firmly, gripped the wrist that held Jay's axe. Another hand gripped Jay's free hand. And yet another hand put pressure on Jay's neck. She would feel a slight prick as a needle was inserted in the jugular vein of her neck, and hands supported her as she began to feel the effects of the medication.

“Now, we wouldn't have had to medicate you if you had just complied. But we need our perfect world. And we want you to be apart of it, my director,” The female scientist and her companion purred.

The female scientist stepped to the side as the three other scientists gently held up the slowly collapsing Jay, placing her into the tube and pressing a button on the console. The glass slide shut with her in it, and clear liquid began filling the chamber.

Axen would see all of this as he swooped into the scene, too late to change the narrative of the story.

The scientists voiced soon became hushed as the scene faded to black, and transformed as Jay, held captive, and Axen, free but too late, were transported to a new area…

Caana, West Hole

@Lexisheeps

Cosy glanced at her father desperately, “I'm not leaving you here!”

Before she threw herself to the ground, barely escaping Buluc's hand as he swept the narrow pit again.

She drew herself to her knees, staring up at the monster hovering over them, half melted in the darkness. Sure, he was blind now, but one of those hits needed to connect to break a rib, or twist an ankle, or smash them into the wall.

She gritted her teeth, scrambling to her feet again. There had to be a way out of this. They needed help, a back up plan, a way to get out of this.

Maybe she really should get Nova. She would know what to do. But, dad, would dad be okay?

She looked over, seeing him desperately hold his own. The bullets he fired were missing, but he didn't let any doubt surface in his face. Of course he wouldn't. He was her dad.

Dad was always strong.

Cosy gritted her teeth, switching the dial on her watch, before pointing to the pit wall above Buluc, and firing. The grappling hook sank in and locked, and she leapt forward, soaring over Buluc and landing against the wall, where she could see light shining down through a tiny hole above. Far above.

Before her gaze lowered, and she saw Buluc growl, each hand zoning in on the source of the sound if the bullets. She gasped.

Buluc had managed to grab her dad in both hands, and he was squeezing, tight.

“No!”

She cried out, pressing a button on her watch so the rope released, and she sank down the the floor of the pit. Another button press, and she had a magnum in her hands. Two shots fired, hitting Buluc in the back.

The monster growled, turing to face her with Nick in his hands.

“Let him go!” Cosy demanded, before she dematerialized the gun, holding her hands out to the side in surrender. “Take me instead!”

Buluc observed her, his blind eyes glowing. A low rumble of a chuckle. “You would sacrifice yourself for this human?”

“Yes, yes I would!”

Buluc broke into open laughter, dropping Nick. “I like a willing sacrifice. Very well.”

His hands searched briefly before finding Cosy, and he picked her up. There was only the sound of his laughter as Nick and Cosy's vision went dark, as the room changed, as they were transported…

Caana, East Hole

@Days, @WhiteAngel25, @SporkoBug

As Annalise offered the protein bar filled with meat and blood to Toren, Toren ravenously scoffed it down.

However, with every bite, the protein bar changed. It took on the properties of living flesh. And, within earshot of the three fated ones, they could hear a whistle, or a hiss of air every time Toren chomped down.

It was only on the second or third bite that the hisses and whistles became louder, more defined.

It was the bar.

The bar had come to life in that moment, a sentient being with nerve endings, and pulsing, warm meat.

And it screamed.

It screamed until Toren finished the entire bar. It screamed until it was silenced. And then, it was over.

The drums faded into silence, and the redness disappeared from the water, shimmering blue skies appearing overhead.

They had completed Caana's east hole. And, in their moment of triumph, their vision turned to white as they were transported…

Caana, South Hole

@Days, @WhiteAngel25, @SporkoBug, @Lexisheeps

The group's vision returned as each individual was transported to the final hole in Caana's courtyard. The south hole.

It was a well-lit area that appeared as if it were underground, with no evidence of a hole above them. The walls were plain rock, not CDE. They spanned about forty meters wide, and sixty meters high.

In the center of the room was a stone table ten meters high. Buluc himself sat at one end of the table on the sole stone chair, a giant sitting at a giant table. There was a wooden plate in front of him, where the collapsed, entirely unconscious forms of Cosy and Jay lay. Food for the South, for Yellow. Food, and sacrifice for the god of war.

At the other end of the table, standing on the stone which was a little too high to simply vault off the table, were Annalise, Nick, Nova, Yoren, and Axen.

The task was clear. Stop Buluc before he ate his sacrifices. Buluc, at that moment, had made his first move, picking Jay up, and preparing to plop her in his mouth.

High above along the wall, looking down on the proceedings, was a glass-encased observatory. And… none other than a man in a dark suit watched over the final battle of Caana.

Von Galloes had made his appearance.

C.G.114, The Swan Room -> P.G.101

@Xandrya

Moving with the stuffed bear through the wooden door, Michelle would walk up a short flight of steps, coming out of the water, and find herself in a peculiar room.

It appeared like a small office, a messy one at that, with papers strewn about the floor and litter in the corners. There was an office chair and a large desk, littered with useless objects like a rolodex, a phone, a lamp, and endless piles of papers. There was so much paper, in fact, that it made it hard to see the dark wood that the desk was made out of.

It contained four drawers, the bottom right of which was locked. Curiously, though, the three other drawers would open easily enough, concealing their little treasures for the time being.

On top of a steel cabinet in the corner of the room was a red box, the smell of cigars and biscuits wafting from its loose lid. The tin, in fact, did contain both cigars and biscuits, but no obvious way to light the cigars.

Beside the steel cabinet, and drawing the eye to the center of the room along the far wall, was a bright red, unmistakably obstinate phone booth. It would open easily enough, revealing a phone that would utter a dial tone if picked up. There was a shiny metal keypad just begging to be pressed, with numbers running from zero to nine, along with pound and star keys.

This was a puzzle room. And like all puzzle rooms, there was a way to solve it. It would seem the red booth needed something, the phone and it's keypad needed something, and that something was hidden in this room.

Of course, if Michelle decided to forgo the puzzle, there was a door to the direct left of the stairs she had come up from, and a way out.
Post looks great, Lexi! The timeliness with Thierry is very intriguing!

I will aim to have a post up today or tomorrow!

Tarin, Garden Plaza

@The Otter

"But, my lady, if you know who I am, then I'm sure you know better than to call me lord."
Callum

Anabel smiled sweetly. ”Oh Lord Prosser, were you sleeping during your classes? The children of nobility are all called lords or ladies as a way of being polite.”

Raiden looked to the side, smirking. ”And I imagine you were the teacher's favorite, my lady?”

Anabel fumed, stamping her foot again at Raiden. It was almost comical, seeing the small, round and puffy stature of Lady Furino, like a Caelin cream puff, making a fuss at Raiden. Raiden, in contract, was this dark, lithe and tall figure, at least twice the height of little Furino.

"...But, maybe, you mistake me for Allan? My father's heir and I are of a height, while our other brothers seemed to have inherited more of our grandfather's size. He's only recently started growing out his beard, without it we do look remarkably alike."
Callum

Raiden shook his head at that as he sat beside the young noble. ”Now why would I want your brother? No, you had the good fortune of coming to Tarin at the behest of the late duke himself. The All-force smiles on you, young Prosser. Your fate and mine are intertwined!”

Anabel leveled a flat look at Raiden. “That's just a fancy way of saying you've been stalking him this whole time, haven't you?”

Raiden twisted his lip at the young girl. “You want to air out the dirty linens? Fine, my lady. I might have been ensuring the safety of our young lord, but you, why are you here?”

A cheeky grin spread over his face. “You were stalking me, weren't you?”

Anabel's face grew hot, and she crossed her arms over herself, as if in an attempt to hide her secrets from the group. “N-no! Why would I do that?”

Her lips pursed together before she said to the side quietly. “Okay, maybe I was.” Then she spoke with more force. “But when I saw who you were tailing, I had to intervene! You, Mister Raiden Asher of the Sparrows, are not a man to be trusted! Especially not with a young, impressionable boy!”

Raiden gave a low chuckle. “Forgive me but, aren't you a young, impressionable girl then by that regard, my lady?”

Anabel fumed. “This isn't about me, stop deflecting!”

"I'd hate to cut this friendly reunion short by agreeing to anything too soon, something I'm sure you both understand. I need some time to get my wits about me, anyways—finding out the fate of those who were to bear my charge was quite a shock. Maybe we can all discuss it further through the day...or, perhaps, over dinner, once I satisfy my need of lodging?"
Callum

Both looked at Callum for a long, long moment, before exchanging a glance between the two of them.

Anabel was the first to speak up, coughing lightly into her fist, undeterred. “It just so happens that I know a fine establishment just down the way from this garden plaza. You would only need to say my name at the counter, and they would bill the lodgings to my estate.”

She held up a hand to quell any rebuttal from Callum, smiling sweetly. “Oh, I insist! You're a guest here, aren't you? It would be impolite to force you to pay. Besides, we will be discussing this more over dinner, yes?”

Raiden gave her a look. “Ain't nothing to talk about, my lady. Not with you.”

Anabel only smiled. “I'd dare to disagree, Sparrow.”

Anabel pointed east down the path, to a building with a hanging sign that read ‘Eagle Inn - Vacancies’. “There, Eagle Inn, you can't miss it. It has a tavern and warm rooms, and a place to bed and feed your horse.”

She began walking away, “Remember, give my name at the counter, and you won't be billed. I'll see you in the evening.”

Raiden sighed, watching her go, before he gave a look to Kai, his wolf. “Kai and I have some business in the city, so we will meet you at Eagle’s tavern tonight.”

He glanced back at Callum, standing. “Well, I’ll leave you to your meat pie, little lord. It is quite tasty.”

A small chuckle as he mounted Kai, and giving Callum’s horse a wide berth, made their way into the city in the opposite direction.

If Callum were to make his way to Eagle Inn, it would be noticeably nicer than most inns. Fresh wood floors, whole oak beams, and the smell of boiled milk and ale through the door to the tavern on the right. Straight ahead would be a counter with an attendant standing behind it, idly looking over parchments. To the left was a stairwell that would lead to the rooms.

Umbra: The Abyssal Connection

A world shattered into factions. A lawless world, plunged back into the near stone age from a fatal mistake.

The Umbra Corp, the ones with the most technology and an iron grip on the world, they have sent out their prized experiment to finally put the dark forces plaguing the world to rest.

However, ‘dark’ is a figurative term, and changes depending on who is speaking. Many forces depend on the darkness to survive. And many, many factions absolutely hate the Umbra Corp.

You raise your blaster, your laser sword and your spectral fist, ready to fight to protect what is important to you, and carve a path out to achieve your dreams.

Welcome to Umbra: The Abyssal Connection, a tale of hardship, grit, and survival. It is set in post-apocalyptic times, where society has collapsed due to a toxic accident that has changed the face of the world and reduced most of the population.

This will be faction-focused, with main factions being the Umbra Corp (the main baddies), Ghost Corp (armed resistance), the Wilds (the darkness and source of seductive power), and the Lawless (the boogeymen that prowl the broken world).

This is set at least 200 years in the future, so those with technology have space stations and a new tech called Abyssal Energy.

There is also a supernatural power connected to the Abyss that the Wilds use, and every faction covets this power. This supernatural power is what Abyssal Energy tries to imitate horribly.

You could play any one of these factions, as a Umbra Corp mercenary, a Lawless thief, or even a Wild stalker.

Ideally, it will be up to the group to work together and take down Umbra Corp, or fight amongst themselves and watch the world tear itself apart even more.

You can read the prequel story here, where three unique characters will be joining you.

Interested? We'd be happy to have you on this adventure extraordinaire. Sign up below!
@The Otter I legit can't wait, it's gonna be good. :)

@Donut Look Now No worries, that's why I'm here!
<Snipped quote by Estylwen>

I'd say we finish up the part we're on now and then get a new thread up and running.

Maybe get a Discord going?

Sure! Then I will wait on your guys posts before creating the part 2 thread. We will conclude this part fairly quickly I think.

Unfortunately I don't do discord, but I have found OOC and DMs work well for a successful RP.

That's fine with me

Great! One last round from you and Wayward, and then I will post the part 2.
