No one expects the main character (looking at you, Agatha)

Bio

(3rd resurrection and counting)

Feel free to call me Evie, it's one of my aliases. I go by a lot of names, tbh. I don't know if that's a good or bad thing...

I've done a bit of RP back in middle school/high school, and haven't touched it again until COVID made me question my hobbies (which I dropped and came back a year 3 years later). Sometimes I think I'm a decent writer, but I'm probably not as good as I like to believe. As an aspiring translator, I kinda have to be eloquent, so here I am. With grad school, indie projects, and other hobbies, I won't have much time for this one, but I'll do what I can.

I'm more or less a weeb. If anything, I probably know more of the obscure stuff than the mainstream. Although, recently, I've been more on the Chinese side of web novels and comics. (shamelessly promotion of my not-so-legal hobby here)

My favorite genres are mystery, fantasy, sci-fi, and Harry Potter fanfics. I like world-building, having co-GMed from the shadows for my ex's DnD campaigns and assistant(?) for my bestie's fantasy comic. I'm also starting to write short stories (maybe expanding into longer works) from my dreams. They're a treasure trove of awesome ideas I never brought into reality.

I swear I'm not a cannibal or creep, so please feel free to shoot me a PM for anything ;p

Name: Pasqualine "Aqua" Aloia
Species/Race: Nixie
Gender: Female
Profession: Detective

Character at a glance: Middle-aged and waiting for her next big break, Detective Aloia has been experiencing some midlife crisis. She left her water-dwelling family for the large city at a young age, as she was born with neither passion nor talent for music. She eventually found her way to her current job, climbing through the ranks and all. She may not be a hard worker by all means, but she is stubborn. Her life isn't the greatest, but it isn't the worst either. It is simply... stagnant. She didn't stand out in terms of accomplishments and connections, so her current position was as high as she can get... Unless this new case becomes her express ticket to the new King's favors.

Abilities/Skills: (will be updated with story progression maybe)
  • Shape-shifter: can change into an animal/non-humanoid creature at will; can gain senses of said creature, but not their special abilities or language
Alice in Wonderland

The premise could go a number of ways:

1. A big group that competes in certain events. (arena)

2. A smaller group who live in and explore Wonderland, and either become The Alice as a group, or simply struggle as outsiders trying to help (and maybe eventually succeed/find an alternative to The Alice). (adventure party)

3. Mix between the previous two, where players all become students of the Alice Academy. They will be taught about The Alice, and have exams to determine their progress. There will also be things happening outside the school that they get involved with voluntarily or not, as Wonderland is still crumbling. (school)
愿长夜 / Wish for the Long Night

君生我未生,我生君未老。
我去君还在,永念我可好?

Thou wast born ere me,
Yet thou hast not aged as I.
I hath passed hence while thou dost still abide,
Pray thee, remember me?

(excuse my poor attempt at Victorian English)

Inspired by the Chinese poem whose first line/sentence I used in its entirety save for one character, which changed the entire meaning/context.

In the original poem, the author is in love with a man much older than her. The pair loathed their age difference, which took away so much time that they could've been together for. (I wasn't born when you were; you were already old by the time I was born. You loathe me for being late; I loathe you for being born early)

By changing one character, the man changed from "already old" to "not aged". The story was now about a mortal who was in love with an immortal (or at least someone who aged much slower than normal). The speaker still loathed their age-related predicament and decided to curse the immortal to remember her for eternity.
Oh my god, you guys, just as I came back to after being offline for nearly a month (jokes)

@OddApproved Good luck moving! It's always a big hassle to move, so, take care!

@Lord Wraith Congrats, again, and best wishes! There's a surge in travelling due to restrictions being lifted everywhere, hope it hasn't gotten too bad yet.
Chris Aguilar
Criminal Psychologist

Chris signed 'ok' with her hand to Lucian to confirm that she'll call for his help when needed. It was nice knowing that her boss has her back. It'll all depends on the situation when they get there though.

It was a pleasant surprise when Joseph defended her. Maybe it was because they were both on the science side and saw thing similarly. God knows how annoying it could be to talk logic with the other type. "Thank you." She made a small gesture to the old doctor. Being introverted aside, who doesn't like the feeling of confirmation and approval, especially when it came from a senior.

With the doctor on her side, Sam also quickly apologized for her overreaction. Chris didn't blame her, nor was there a right or wrong in this situation. It was just the type of person Sam was - always looking out for those around her. Helpful most of the time, but not the greatest mesh with Chris' late-occuring rebellious phase. Chris stared at the older woman for a moment, before nodding. "Will do." When the team started talking about the absent members of the team, the young psychologist's hand opened and closed a few times, as if about to do something. She didn't want Sam to be feel bad about what she said. She was the one of the few who kept trying to befriend her when most people had long given up with how closed off Chris was. In the end, her hand remained at her side.

Lucian's reaction to Darin spelt out a bad ending for her fellow newbie. It wasn't her place to comment on any of it. Work is work, and the boss is the boss. Although, it seemed like the long weekend had also taken a toll on Sam, with how much she'd misjudged the appropriate social distances already. Well, at least Chris didn't fall asleep in the bath or anything.

Sam brought the conversation back to the case at hand. She had a point. The lack of strength could explain the lacerations. Could he have targetted petit women for this reason? Does he have an inferiority complex over his lack of physical prowess? Assaulting these women would make him feel powerful. Military widows... Maybe revenge on his abuser who lost their life serving the country? To rape and kill the wife of his abuser - the need to feel power. What about abused by a family member? Oedipus complex in a military family? Spouse or love interest? A tragic love-triangle with a jock, a pretty girl, and a loser? Chris did consider the possibility of a female assailant, but so far the evidence leaned towards a male, especially the sexual assaults part.

The plane was now in its final descent. Chris tried to pounder more on the unsub and their victims, but the reality of her being out of the office started distracting her. She decided to give herself these moments before she needed to focus. All in all, she was rearing to go the moment they land.

My dumb ass thought lacerations meant something else the whole time orz

The draining blood part... that's not in the report the team recieved, right?
Congrats, Lord Wraith! Good luck on the rest of your planning too.

Ive been busier than I thought recently. I'll probably be able to post something next week though.
