Here ya go

I may have slinked into the club... all sneaky beaky like... 🥷

@Izurich

I've sent them a PM to see how they feel! I'm keeping some of the plot elements to myself so that you, as characters, have to figure it out yourself ICly. I think it's a bit more fun that way. That is to say, I don't mind PMs that ask about certain things. Can this happen? Is this going to happen? Because I think that might mess with my character arc, etc etc.

Yeah, that's very fair. Of course, will do should I feel the need to.

Alright, hoping to hear good news from you two!
@Izurich

Honestly I'm considering it! I've got a few big baddies planned out roughly, but I'd need to dig a bit more into the Underground to create anything for them. But considering it was initially Animal's brain-child, I'm going to go to them for any people, names, big bads, etc.

Ohooo, I see, well, if @Animal is willing, maybe we can 'promote' the Underground from personal villain to main villain. 😄
@HylianRose Upon rereading the 0th post regarding the agenda of the Underground and Esme’s sheet, I have to point out that if this group knows anything at all about the Imperial Japanese House that even Himari has a massive potential target on her forehead for the same reasons. Her dad makes the sun rise, after all. I’m sure nefarious goons would be just as interested in testing her magical spark as ol’ mumsy was.

<Snipped quote by Fading Memory>

That's a great point! I imagine at some point the Underground would have a great desire to test on many of the students of the school. We'll have to figure that out when we get there!

Oho, considering this, it may not be too far-fetched to make the Underground as a prime candicate for the RP's main antagonist, as in, the antagonist that involves everyone in the cast, as opposed to more 'personal antagonists' such as Himari-hime's villainess mother and younger sister or Millie's arrogant older brother, Gustav.

To touch on the discussion going on between Savant and Izurich, Any Knight/Noble without a pair that wants one can be paired up manually via GM intervention should you so choose! I appreciate you two talking through it amicably.

Haha, thank you. Therapy and life experience helped a ton, and it's always nice to be given feedback that I've handled a misunderstanding amicably instead of making it worse like in the past. In this case, it didn't really click with me why Savant reacted the way they did, up until they elaborated their points regarding pairing in the romantic sense, then the pieces started to fall into place. In contrast, myself from years ago would likely still not get it, then make things worse.

Also, noted on the Knight-Noble pairing process. Even with the contingency plan, I ultimately prefer to have my PCs be paired up with another writer's Noble / Knight, yes.
<Snipped quote by Izurich>

All of the above here, states that if Illa and Millie cannot be paired in a romantic way that you're uninterested. I don't believe I'm misunderstanding.

You have pointed out that if there is no romantic interest that we need to cancel our prior arrangement. Our only arrangement was him being her knight, in my mind that was our only standing arrangement.

You state that if there is the possibility of them being foes, you have no interest in pairing them. Which they honestly could be foes. I've never written Illa and have no idea how he will work with Millie.

And then you confirm that you rather pair with yourself in that case to make a "you'll do it yourself" plot which cancels any potential growth for these two characters before anything has happened between them at all.

I'm going to say this, Illa can work with social plots without an issue though those plots can have consequences. Trying to make a romantic social plot with a character who is uninterested in romantic ships along with naturally being distant and self isolating and hoping he magically blossoms into a romantic man under the toxicity of rumors and high school life is similar to asking Alpheus not to participate in rumors, not go to any social events, and not having friends so he is isolated and assuming that he wouldn't get depressed.

Huh, I see, so 'pair' here carries the connotation of romantic pairing to you, while what I meant was referencing the Noble - Knight pair. Hmm, now things start to make sense more why you reacted the way you did. But what's done is done, I won't fault you for this, nor myself, communication is difficult, even IRL, let alone through text alone.

Indeed, that was the only arrangement we have. I never desired to romantically pair Millie with Illa. Perhaps in hindsight, it was a mistake to entertain the idea of playing around with false rumors of them being involved as a method to foster an interesting plot, but what's done is done.

Yes, I rather make a Noble - Knight pair (not romantic pair) with myself if somehow all options are exhausted, that is my contingency plan. It's unlikely, but having one gives me a peace of mind, as no matter what happens, my participation in this RP is secured.

You are correct, I agree with everything you said about Illa. ...that's why I never intended for any romantic social plot in the first place.

<Snipped quote by Izurich>

I'm not one to pre-arrange romantic relationships in character or interest. I tend to have a habit of letting my characters write themselves but I have no solid foundation to say that Illa would get with anyone at all. Alpheus is the more romantic type and I doubt that he won't have little crushes on others or maybe show an actual interest in someone.

Though neither of these characters will be pre-arrange with anyone else's characters. I enjoy the discovering of that in IC instead of forcing it from OOC discussions. In my experience, those have never worked for me because characters are written differently then how I expected they would write out, they change, etc.

I'm completely fine with you wanting to cut off the OOC arrangement of having Illa as Mille's knight. I'm not tied to anything when it comes to having my characters paired with anyone. I'll enjoy the writing nonetheless.

Ah, I see, then either you misunderstood my words or I've written them poorly or both, nevertheless, what I meant by this:

I'm predicting speculations and rumors would arise regarding their relationship, such as: Russia is trying to secure its western borders by gaining an alliance with the Holy Roman Empire via marrying its crown prince with the HRE's princess.

Was people; the public, etc. assuming that they're being paired because of those political reasons. Even though:

As such, even though the truth may be that they're just two students who just so happened to be paired.

And nothing more, they just happened to be paired together through random chance, that is the fact, however, we as writers have the benefit of omniscient knowledge, not so much about people in-universe. Rumors easily spring up after all, especially in high society.

However, even with all that said, your elaboration regarding Illa's personality and motivations tell me that he's not a suitable character for a plot based on rumors and socialization. So I just wanted to clear the misunderstanding, the plan is... eeeeh, still scrapped, back to the drawing board.
<Snipped quote by Izurich>

I have a hard time envisioning rumors being spread about Russia and the Holy Roman Empire at first because from past discussion. I have it in my head that the school is going to randomly pair knights with nobles. Meaning there was no way to setup an arranged/pre-conclusion teaming.

And I do believe if rumors about Illa and Millie form. Lilia will become extremely distant and uninterested with her. He has no ambition to court anyone at the moment and sees no need. His current goal is to be approved by his father and achieve the requirements given to him to take over the throne in the future.

Rumors can spread though they will be as hallow as this man. Illa isn't a romantic character, he's not built for it, and if he does court anyone it'll be a long burn to even then. Courting and relationships are not on his mind.

And if the rumors get bad enough along with questions, Illa would go out of his way to go to the headmaster of the school to see if he can change nobles. He won't feed into people's entertainment and he's not there for friendships.

Edit: I'm at work and on mobile so I might not be explaining this well. We will have to discuss this more later.

Hmmm, fair points! I admit that I may have read his character wrong. I'm scrapping the idea.

Also, you brought up good points about his personality and motivations, which points us to what we want to experience as their writer. I'm just saying that if you think that there's little potential to explore from pairing them, we may as well nip it in the bud and cancel the (OOC) arrangement. For example: if they work better as foes, then it's better to not pair them.

Related, if it helps to know, I already have a contingency plan if somehow, there's no other PC that can foster interesting plots with mine, that is, I'll just pair up Millie with Max, "Fine, I'll do it myself" Thanos style. 😎
<Snipped quote by Izurich>
sorry I did not know that. I just know about the sites because I use to post stories on one and I am going to post stories on the other one. When I can think of a title. I was just trying to help again my bad sorry.

No problem, wheels! I used to regularly read stuff on fanfiction.net myself during my early teen years, tried writing a few fics myself but never really amounted to much, then I gradually moved on to forum roleplaying as I found the active engagement with other writers to fit my vibe better.
Welcome to the Guild, Nixie! I hope you'll have a good time here.
EDIT: To everyone!!! if yo have an idea for something like this, even if it's something sneaky YOUR character is doing, please send those to me! I'd love to have characters involved in some of these smaller plot hooks and things. Maybe your character gets up late at night to raid the kitchen for food and everyone thinks it's a raccoon so they start to investigate. Maybe your character has been meeting in secret with one of the professors for lessons, but a rumor spreads that you're dating and you seek help from your friends, etc etc.

Oh, good point, Rose Boss! Actually I have been musing plot ideas for my PCs and characters that may be involved with them. Several are in drafts, but two of them are solid enough for me to present to you:

1. Tagging @The Savant since this idea centers around Prince Illa. Okay, since this world's Russia is also invading Ukraine (but being more successful in the endeavor), I imagine that the slavic empire is currently Public Enemy#1 in the political playground. With this context in mind, I think we can play around with court intrigue surrounding Illa's partnership with Millie. I'm predicting speculations and rumors would arise regarding their relationship, such as: Russia is trying to secure its western borders by gaining an alliance with the Holy Roman Empire via marrying its crown prince with the HRE's princess.

Of course, the notion of two powerful empires (both with warmongering history) united in a royal alliance will be quite worrying, not just for Ukraine but for the entire world as well. As such, even though the truth may be that they're just two students who just so happened to be paired, there'll be... several parties that believe it's in their best interest to sabotage their relationship.

EDIT: Scrapped.

2. Tagging @Animal because this idea was inspired by Esme's CS. Reading Esme's childhood history and the Underground organization gave me an idea that due to her unique spellcasting power, Millie is in their watch list of potential abductees. Her social position and HRE's terrifying might may have put her in the backburner as they'd rather go after 'safer' options such as a low-class orphan (e.g: Esme). However, now that they know The Iron Princess will be attending a private school in an isolated remote region for the foreseeable future, they may try to make their move, especially if they can use someone else as a scapegoat, it can be Illa, or Alfi, or even the headmaster or one of the teachers.
