Asura held his defensive posture while the larger slime slid a pseudopod towards him. He was keeping himself very compact despite before liquid. When the limb touched him thoughts flowed through his mind. So that was how slimes were supposed to talk, through touch and thought? He guessed that she was saying he was familiar, something about being big then being small. Maybe slimes bred by getting big then shedding excess and undesired mass?

Edith started asking him questions though, interrupting his thoughts. "I'm familiar, which means she spawned me. She kind of sort of described how I came to be? Me big me. Me not me then small me." He stated as Edith returned the gesture of touching the mother slime. Keeping to his stance he did extend a limb to return the gesture to the mother slime. His thoughts were silent but it was a simple touch. Even as a human displays of affection came hard. This being had spawned him and didn't seem to mean any harm to the pair of slimes. He also didn't have a clue on how to transfer thoughts through his limbs.

Asura gave off a laugh. "I didn't really have a plan. I hoped maternal instincts would keep her from eating us and would help us stay alive. If she tried to fight I'd hold her off so you could flee before I followed." Asura stated while keeping a wary eye on the approaching slime. He forcefully moved Edith backwards so the huge slime didn't just drop on the pair and slurp them up like jello cups.

His fellow souled slime started singing to the mother slime which made him blink in confusion. Did the monsters in this cave even understand music? Either way he waited to see what the slime mother would do. Would she try to eat them? Would she somehow communicate? Or would she just go back to doing slime things? They'd have to wait and see.
Asura shook his head as they moved. "It's not a matter of talking. Most of these creatures are pure instinct and we're either prey or rivals." He explained. Had this girl never gone out into the wilderness? Was she purely a city girl who knew nothing of the natural world? Judging by how she talked he'd have to take a guess and say yes that was the case. As the moved in the dark she moved closer to him. A little amusing really.

The further along they went the darker it got and the more vegetation was on the ground due to moisture. For the moss to grow so well the soil or water had to have some acidic content in it. As he moved he sucked some of it into himself, eating as he went. The darkness was slowly being adapted to, no man-made lights helped as he adjusted. Suddenly the pair bumped into a small ledge, if he had been human he could have just stepped up easily.

Asura vaguely remembered this ledge. Like a childhood memory in the normal world. A squeak of a rat put him on guard until he heard the unmistakable sound of liquid engulfing something. Silence reigned for a moment before the familiar slime burbling echoed out. " Move behind me and get ready to run if that is violent..." He muttered to Edith. The huge blue slime was moving towards them and he was unsure if he could handle her if she was violent.

Edith asked a few questions which earned her a shrug while he shifted into his man-blob form. "Don't know. I'm not sure how slimes reproduce but she wasn't around when I was small." Asura stated while taking a more defensive posture. Which meant contracting into a smaller compressed version of himself. He'd let Edith do the talking, he'd do the attacking if he needed to.
Asura gave a derisive snort when Edith said like minded. "And most of the creatures here are mindless. I've already been attacked randomly by two creatures." He growled out while she climbed up the slope towards him. She was using little appendages instead of using her whole body to cling to the surface like he was. She was still too stuck in her 'human' mindset. The voice was quiet though, so maybe they ran off to get friends or something might have eaten em. Either way they were safe if they moved.

Edith had pointed to the large trail that had been spotted. "Lets get going. Maybe we'll run into the other slime I met before. It was soulled like us considering it did more than eat." Asura said while shaping himself into a ball and started to roll. Not the perfect sphere she had but one that was more "flat" so there was more surface sticking to the slope. He didn't want to find out what might be in that water aside from tiny fish.

Asura shook his head, she had made herself to spherical. She was holding to rigidly to the thought of an actual ball. Sighing he watched her roll until she hit the water. "Hurry up and get out of that. Who knows what's in a cave pond around monsters." He called down to her while he traveled along the sloped shore. Using his body to cling to the surface as he moved. He kind of wondered if he could eventually do a wall cling since his body could find tiny...body holds that others would never be able to touch.

Edith called up from the water saying she was good but who knew how long that would last in this world. As he met up with her she must have heard something and called out to it. "You do realize just because you're a tank doesn't mean you should go calling out to random voices. Not everyone is as nice as I am." He stated, agitation was clear in his voice. They were slimes, melee units. Neither had trained in anything ranged related so a wisp with those crystals could be a problem. For her anyway, he was already building a magical resistances.

Shaking his 'head' he looked at the trails near the pond while he put a pseudopod in it. Might as well get a drink as he looked about. There were many trails but one stood out more. It was like his own, large and moving towards the back of the cave away from the goblin bonfire. "Do you want to wait around for your mysterious voice, or do you want to continue with our objective?" Asura questioned while he drank his fill of the water. By now all that was left of the rat from earlier was bits of bone. Could he digest bone? Didn't hurt to find out.
Asura gave a non-descriptive wobble when she said slime mom. "Probably. We didn't just come out of thin air. We had to inhabit something. What better than a fetus or...egg or something that doesn't have a soul yet?" He questioned as he rolled along. When she complained about their form being useless he gave a low sigh. "Just concentrate hard on the form you wish you take. Nothing complicated like fingers and legs. He said as he rolled to a stop and took his man-blob form.

"This was after a few hours of testing. But the simpler the shape the more easy it is to take. Like the ball so we can roll more effectively." He continued on, the wobbling and undulating movements were good when you weren't really aiming to do something. But now he kind of had a drive since it was morning to do stuff. Almost like back when he was doing his work.

She talked about mold on the floor and that they hadn't introduced yet. "Asura, and yes I'm aware we're basically mops. I wasn't looking for anything yesterday. Just examine the surroundings, learn the items, and try not to die. Also train." Asura stated before 'turning' towards her. "Start training to change your shape. It'll click after a little bit." The larger slime burbled out.

Asura's goo-brow rose up when he noticed that she had tried to eat him in her sleep. She had enveloped him partially but when she woke up she pulled back with quite the sound. "That was me." He growled out, a tad grumpily. He wasn't annoyed that she was sleep eating but he wasn't pleased about it either. He'd have to put her in a bowl or something if they slept near each other again.

Pushing the rest of the dead rat towards her he gave a shrug. "Eat that. No point letting it rot. As for a plan...explore more, possibly find our progenitor, and see what a goblin is capable of. I've been attacked by a wisp and rat so far and received more damage from the rat." He said, explaining what he knew of the battle capabilities of the creatures he's fought.

She went into her history which got him to shake his head. "I don't think our past lives had anything to do with our current bodies. I chose to be a slime. But either way we can wobble and talk." He said before forming into a slightly deflated sphere. He rolled out, but kept a slow roll so she could keep up without issues.
Asura gave her a non-committed burble in response to what the other slime said. He had been up and about all day, it took energy to change his shape, and he had been in two solo fights. Never mind the amount of...wobbling? he did to get around the damn place. He zonked out pretty easily despite the other slimes presence. Namely her touching him. He wasn't afraid of her trying to absorb him, he was the larger of the two and her...freshness, made him think she was new to the game.

The Following Day!

As lights started to brighten in the cave he 'opened his eyes' and gave a gaping yawn. He gave himself a good stretch, extending upwards as far as his gel body would allow before settling back down and going back to his man-blob shape. He shifted a little and enveloped the upper half of the dire rat from yesterday. Letting his digestive juices burn through the skin and meat slowly. He was cutting it in half using his own enzymes.

It only took a little bit and he started digesting what he could of the rats meat, skin, fur, cartilage, and the bones if he could. No point not trying to eat all of it! He glanced around, looking for the smaller slime that had bubbled about so excitedly the day before.
Asura 'glanced' back when she mentioned goblins looking vivisected. A complicated word. "There are other soulled beings around I guess. There's you, there's me, undoubtedly there are others. Like another slime I met earlier." He said as he found what looked to be a good enough nook. A gesture of his 'arm' and he had her settle in there while he remained more in the open. She was small so he ejected the rat he was holding before using some strength to twist off a limb.

"No guarantees I can help you. Some beings seem abnormally vicious. The floating wisps being one of them. The rats being another." He stated before continuing on. "We're the 'tanks' of the starting monsters. Highest defensive and life capabilities. As for food, eat what you want. The plants heal so don't just mow into them recklessly." He explained while settling down. He seemed to spread out as he relaxed. He was a bit tired now and it showed in his body language. Well what little body language a slime had.

Asura gave a slow blink. The little slime was talking to him now, which meant...maybe it was like him? It had a feminine lilt to the tone but he kept his assumptions to himself. "It's about time you ran into another slime? He questioned while the smaller slime wiggled about excitedly. Such a weird little creature. The other slime he had met was more serious and straight forward. Looking around he was curious what this big stuff was.

"Big stuff? The goblins?" He asked, they actually hadn't bothered him. Neither have the pixies or lizards. It seemed the wisps and the dire rats were the most aggressive of the newbie lot. A mental shake and he brought himself back. "Come on, we should find some place safer to rest. It's night and it's dangerous for you." He said while partially enveloping the rat. Carrying it off without the slightest hiss of digestive sounds. Despite his coloration she could see the herbs floating about inside of him while he moved along.
