Spike
Spike Name: Aspect Thief
Spike Description: A jet black spike that looks to be made of chitin. Along its surface are red pulsing veins, almost as if the spike had been shattered and repaired at one point. The spike is located dead center of his chest and seems to be constantly active judging by the glowing.
Spike Theme: Stealing beneficial aspects from dead enemies to make the wielder better. Which also grants limited forms of shapeshifting of the physical body.
Spike Abilities:

  • Absorbing Theft: As the name suggests after killing something he absorbs something from them by consuming a portion of their body. This applies to physical attributes only and redundant aspects do not compile together. The stronger one is taken while the weaker is cast off. (He can't eat 50 ogres and have 50 ogres worth of strength, it's just the strength of one ogre.)
  • Transformation: With his spike functioning he can change his body to better suit certain situations. He can cover his body in chitin armor for example, or get monstrous claws, cudgel-like hands, etc etc. The more, and different, creatures he eats and steals from the more complex forms he can change himself into.

Is this what you meant?
It sounds interesting and might let me branch out to using a character I don't normally. (His capabilities can be op but he has to work up to them)
Big Red's eyes remained closed while he listened to the girls chat about why they became adventurers. Druid Girl just wanted to see new places and help people, very basic desires. Couldn't she have been a wandering healer then? Humans got sick left right and center at the drop of a hat. Maybe she was less keen on being a hedge wizard and more on helping people who do more good than farm or craft? He kept these thoughts to himself.

Archer Girl had initially tried being a mercenary and the military, but hadn't made the cut for some reason. There really wasn't much call for horseback archery from what he had read and witnessed. Archers in the low-lands were actually very static, not needing to move until their infantry and cavalry lines fell. Watching skirmishes between armies, monsters, and adventurers as he made his way here was very educating on how humans tended to fight.

But now the Archer adventured, and it was mainly for fun. Fun with a party like them, which made his brow twitch slightly. He was fun? Such an odd girl. But now Druid Girl was asking why he had become an adventurer instead of a retainer, body-guard, or mercenary.

"I don't have the patience for the rich, I'd be more inclined to rip off his head, take his coffers and jewelry, and leave before subjugating myself to being bossed around by a soft man-child." He rumbled out before his eyes opened to gaze at the pair. "Mercenary work is essentially adventuring but you give all the coin you earn to the head to be split up among the whole group. I don't care to bust my ass while someone else gets lazy and splitting things like that. Nevermind the mercenary pride would get...tiresome." The reptilian continued before looking up at the sky.

"I went Adventurer to learn more and bring the knowledge back to my tribe eventually. Ways to improve our living in the swamps, how to fight better with weapons, and to use that knowledge to either wipe out the other tribes or assimilate them." He finished, unlike humans the lizard-folk in the swamps he resided were very territorial and there was plenty of fighting to go around.
Almost as soon as Kaze lit up his cigar a female voice piped up nearby. A blink and he turned his head to look down at Beniha with a raised eyebrow as he inhaled on his cigar. His thick fingers came up and plucked the thing from his mouth before smoke poured from his mouth, his lips making it go up to the ceiling. What could be smelled had the faint scent of apples.

"If anyone has an issue with my smoking they can say so. Depending on how its said and who gives the request I might stop...or I'll add five more, Feather Lady." He rumbled out, he didn't actually know her name. So turning he held out his free hand for a handshake. "Names Kazemitsu, Kaze normally, and I hope we have some fun beating up some baddies." He continued, despite his background and scarred face he still had some youthful cheerfulness to him.

Another voice, one familiar since he had gotten his pay from her, called for people to please be seated. Oh boy they were going to be put on teams! Well each team would need a native since all the imports probably didn't know the area well. It'd take forever to learn all these streets even with GPS. So he took a seat after shucking off his heavy coat and hanging it on the back of the chair. Big reveal (not really) from big man, he's built like a tank and he kept most of his weight off the chair while waiting for the meeting to start.
Kaze's eyes closed as he went into the secret portion of the DHA. That little underground bit that normal society didn't know of and would probably have screaming nightmares if they could see some of the creatures that frequented it. He knew the saying, the enemy of my enemy is my friend, but he never cared for it. He didn't trust even a fraction of the youkai, demons, and spirits he had met over the years. Did he kill indiscriminately? No, that was foolish and would paint an utterly massive target on his back. He was strong, powerful even, but he wasn't unkillable.

His huge mitts for hands ran through his hair, ruffling the already wild and pointed locks when a breeze kicked up. A breeze underground. Sighing an eye opened and there was a small female youkai with a piece of paper. Plucking it out of the outstretched hand the girl zipped off, a speed demon. Oooo clever word play here! Glancing down at the paper, a meeting? They did those here? Normally all he got was a call over the phone to let him know what's going on. Guess the Japs were more formal. Or maybe he just wasn't ranked high enough to get into meetings back home. Physical might did not dictate whether you were of high standing after all.

Blah, it was too late for him his brain was going haywire with every stray thought. A hand ran down his face before both eyes opened and he made his way to the meeting room. That was probably why the place felt so deserted, humans were in bed. You know...he didn't see any no smoking signs. His cigar was out of his pocket and held in his mouth while he dug around in his pocket for a moment. Just as he entered the meeting room he pulled out a metal tube with a rod within. A flick of his thumb lit the rod, it was one of those matches that wouldn't be put out aside from smothering. Lighting up his cigar he tubed the match and pocketed it.

"So what's up...?" He questioned once he looked up and to the people within.
Big Red's bathing took more time than both girls combined. He had kept an eye on them when they were in the water, not to ogle but to make sure nothing happened to them. Archer Girl obviously didn't have much mess on her, Druid Girl had a bit more but it was mostly goblin gunk on her clothes because of the vegetated girl. Although it still amused him Druid Girl was still so shy about her body around him. It seemed to be a human and elf thing judging by what he has seen so far.

Whatever, he was as clean as the water, soaking, and brush, would get him without actual soap. Plodding out of the river, the water cascading from his body, he flicked the water from his brush and tossed it on his pile of equipment and stuff. Lots of stuff. They'd have to hit the shops after drying off. The two girls were chatting as he approached and plopped down near the fire. His eyes closed while he rested, letting the heat sink into his body while soft wisps of evaporating water rose from his body. He absorbed heat better than the two girls did. Retaining it though was a different matter.

(still recovering from sickness)
Kaze made good time to get to the base. Whenever he encountered small fries he pretty much let his murderous aura fly, something the supernatural seemed to sense and tended to skedaddle. He did see a couple groups of hoodlums who tried to rob him. Or stop him because 'he's in their territory'. Who the hell tried to stop someone carrying a couple hundred pound block of concrete?! Needless to say the leaders of those groups who tried weren't going to be having kids. Dirty fighting at its finest.

When he dropped the block off he got curious. "Let me know what these pebbles are. I'm curious as hell." He said before filling out paperwork and collecting whatever pay was owed. Honestly he didn't do this for the money, that was just a bonus. When he left the building his phone buzzed, getting him to pull it out and raise an eyebrow. The motorcycle girl had picked up a demon? But why destroy it? It hadn't seen the base and it didn't seem to be trying to kill her. It also hadn't participated in the fight that he saw, that was purely yurei and a treant.

There was also the thought of...how would anyone even find her? Was she coming straight to base? Did she need to make a pit-stop somewhere? They didn't have gps trackers embedded in their butts! And searching the city was so not an option, especially since only the DHA headquarters and higher ups had his number. He had gotten tired of greenhorns texting and calling incessantly with questions. He wasn't a trainer damn it. So, he replied to the text. How are we supposed to find her? He texted back. Why not just call them in a group call? Bah.
Shortly after Kaze left the police showed up. How did he know? He was on nearby rooftops with his concrete and explosive rock cargo. It'd be suspicious if some random guy, clearly not Japanese, was lugging such a strange thing around. He didn't need to get stopped by patrolmen. So rooftops was his way of getting back to the DHA headquarters. Although once he got into more residential areas he would have to avoid the rooftops. Houses weren't built to handle his weight jumping in a concentrated area and the little alleys would be easier to lose people in.

So without further adieu he jumped. He hopped from rooftop to rooftop of the warehouses, specifically landing where a steal beam was. They were all cookie cutter so he went straight until the warehouses ended. From there he jumped off and into a copse of trees and looked around. His eyes still reptilian to better see any potential wandering dangers before he took off again. He should probably work on his speed, but that was a future endeavor.

He was quick enough to leave the industrial district behind, the cops had congregated at the warehouse fire and were already probably calling in their fire department. Although that fire really shouldn't last long, the building wasn't really flammable...but maybe something explosive was stored nearby? Meh, shouldn't store huge amounts of explosive stuff anyway. That's dumb.

With his mind wandering he kept his steady pace to get back to the Association so they could examine these rocks that seemed to blow up when...something happened.
Asura for once was glad they didn't encounter anything else when they retreated. Nothing worse than having no stamina, no items, a party member down, and being poisoned then getting ambushed. Surprisingly it was dark outside, had they been in there for that long? He didn't remember fights taking forever, if anything he remembered them being over fast despite it feeling like an eternity had passed.

Zieglar jumped up and helped get Trent out of harms way and into the campfire light. "He abused that shield of his heavily, so I'm not surprised he took so little damage." He commented as he seemed to spread out, relaxing near the flames. Sure every little bit he felt his health tick down, but he felt like the poison would pass before he died. He still tried to eat the poison with his acidic innards nonetheless.

Zieglar spoke up which got a question in Asura's head. "How can you tell a Core has been destroyed? But yeah, we didn't get to it. It has assimilated anything alive and has a lot of undead. A decent chunk of the horde has been destroyed and the more advanced units seem to be permanently dead as well. Choke point helped us not get overwhelmed and Trent getting his hands on that sword also helped in a big way." He said before 'shrugging' at needing healing.

"I'm out of Stamina, I'm poisoned, and I've taken some hits. So healing wouldn't hurt." He continued while moving out of the Bownhorn skull. It wouldn't survive another encounter so no point keeping it on. Zieglar cast a spell, Lesser Theriac, which Asura tried to decipher. He might not want to use magic but he wanted to understand it. If he understood it he could counter it or cancel it out entirely!

Once he was healed he was given the message he was ready to evolve again. "If you're taking watch you're going to be alone for a bit. I can evolve again." Asura stated while accepting the mystery stew. A slurp and it was all gone within his body, the bowl being cleaner than it ever had been before.

While he digested he examined each option he had. Two were immediately nixxed, they didn't fit what he was trying to do. He could continue to go along with what he was, which was essentially a speed tank. Or he could still be a small speed tank that could control other creatures. It said there were dangers from relying on others power, that was true enough. But why would he neglect himself? Only a fool would ignore personal growth. Still he had a higher suitability for it so maybe that meant a higher Variant chance?

System, five points into Spiritual Awareness, eight points into Limited Shapeshift IIII, and I choose Parasite Slime. He thought before going cocoon. Lets see if there was going to be some interference this time. He tried opening all of his senses to see if there was some being, because that stall last time had royally pissed him off. He didn't need interference damn it.

Unspent Skill Points: 9
Big Red watched the two eat with a single raised brow. They were voracious, acting like a couple of wolf pups tearing into their food with unwarranted savagery. He'd have to test some time how they'd react to someone pulling food away. Would they bite the hand? Shaking his head he calmly pulled apart the buns he had bought and ate each piece surprisingly civil despite his jaws clearly not being designed to chew food.

They were done before him, unsurprisingly from how savagely they tore into the flour based product. The pair talked about bathing, which he really needed since he was still covered in goblin and blood of several beings. The blood would stain his gear, but it was all leather and hide anyway except for the knee and shin guards. Druid Girl mentioned needing to get another set of clothes, which made him tilt his head. "Why not wash while you bathe?" He asked before she zipped off to the inn.

Shrugging he went off with Archer to the spot they had gone to the previous time. It was secluded, near the town, and they were already a little familiar with it. Also since it was brighter than the last time it was easier to find wood for a fire so the girls and their clothes could dry off. Fire was made, circle of stones from the river, the reptile undressed and went into the water with his scrubby brush.

The water flowing lazily past him was quickly dyed red as he scrubbed vigorously. He had essentially taken a blood shower when he pulled apart that goblin, arterial spray was a bitch. He'd be at it for a while since the blood had had time to dry on himself.
