Bio

Hello everyone. I'm Dutch, a mother of a 8-year old boy and I love both rp-ing and writing. Since May 2020 I'm one of the contests mods.

I started with writing Dutch stories in 2002, I was already 19 at that time. I joined a writing competition and that got me started. Soon I started to write down all the stories my over-active imagination came up with. I had my first forum rp experience in 2003 on a Dutch fantasy forum. While I continued to write, I stopped rp-ing when the particular rp and forum slowly died. In 2011 my love for rp's rekindled when I joined a site with a forum and I started to RP solely in English since that is the language of the site. This is also when I wrote my first story in English.

I've got a few 1x1 rp's going on this site and a couple more on another site. I've always been a fan of writing competitions and I joined a lot several of the ones that were hosted on this website. Now I get to host them myself and really enjoy that too.

When you come here to check if I'm online, know that even when I show as online I might not be able to respond to RP's. I open this site so that when I have time I can spend some time here, but I don't always end up with the time to do so.

If I haven't replied in a while, feel free to poke me. I don't ghost on purpose, sometimes I just forgetful and if I read your reply and accidentally closed the tab I might forget I was supposed to reply T_T

Maybe we could let fate decide the outcome of the battle, the GM could roll a 1d2 dice and share the results.
But with several people already claiming they like playing the underdog, and my characters are rarely the powerful ones too, I think we could try to let the players duel and see how it goes.

Obtaining cards could be done like the anime, we all have our deck and had a few duels already. Special cards can be obtained during the RP, we could make a list of what super rare or ultra rare cards shouldn't be included in our decks and can only be obtained during the RP.
This could also be the reason we get together, instead of a Tournament we could be drawn to a Treasure Hunt for some unique cards. And battle each other either in friends duels or to try and obtain the special card they other won.

A perhaps unpopular thing that's worth noting, and it's a mentality that could help in this RP: The duels in Yu-Gi-Oh rarely follow the actual rules. If we treat dueling like the anime does, it's about character interaction and writing the drama and stakes of a duel, not so much making sure we are following tournament rules.

I agree with this 100%. I'm in both the Pokémon fandom and the Yu-Gi-Oh! fandom, but so far I only RP-ed in the Pokémon fandom. You have competitive players there who count stats and everything, but most enjoyable are the RP's that do the Pokémon battles anime-style.

I'm not saying we should go full Duelist Kingdom, because those duels made the least sense of Yu-Gi-Oh! (although they were fun to watch), but the way duels were done since Battle City can certainly be used as inspiration for the RP.

"I will await your return then, your majesty," the hermit said with a small bow. "Good luck on your travel."

Trevor huffed, they had to rely on skill, not luck. He watched the old dragon rise to his feet.
"Finally," the dragon said as he started moving. "I'm not getting any younger, you know. It's been a while since I visited dwarves, so let's make haste. I'd like to get there before I die."
Trevor had to admit he appreciated this dragon's bluntness. That was as far as he was willing to go - dragons were still dangerous monsters. He followed Duncan, but kept an eye on the new king. The last thing he wanted was for the boy to slip and break his neck.

Linda flew up from Mikhal's shoulder to sit on the extended arm of Ricky. "It's nice to meet you all," she replied, before looking at Terasivas. "That is an impressive roar," she cooed. "You are big and strong and the cutest thing I have ever seen!" She turned to look at Mikhal. "On my way here I saw a big, white horse. Stickyback said he would catch up."
Meria smiled at the name. "Then there is no reason to wait. The ocean is that way?" she turned and pointed, looking to Mikhal for a confirmation.
Mikhal nodded. "Indeed, that is the way we should go."

Rachel turned to Crreessa and thought about her question. "It wouldn't be safe to fly in a group if we want to avoid being discovered, but in case of an attack we would be safer in a group. I think we should travel together. At one point we will have to let the enemy know we are here and ready to fight, and it will draw their attention away from the new king or the dragon sanctuary."
As someone who watched the anime more than played the card game, I'd be in for a RP that doesn't focus much on powerful decks and duelling simulators. I'd join the RP for the character-interaction and adventures, not to have a lot of duels. And I dislike the academy trope too.

People could get together in non-duel related ways and discover they all like to play duel monsters. An expo at a museum or library comes to mind. Maybe we all happened to visit Sea World because of a one-time free entry (where Make Tsunami tends to the dolphins?

With a wink to the first Yu-Gi-Oh!, we could all be visiting Kaibaland, where I'm sure Kaiba made some arenas for casual duels. But who wants that if they can go in a Blue Eyes Roller Coaster, am I right?

Alternatively, we could go Ancient Egypt too, where we all have just one spirit that we can use to fight with. Except for the spirits that already belong to the Pharaoh and his Priests.
I'm not an expert on aura, I've never seen the episodes or movies where they showed it, but I like the way you did it :)
Benjamin shared Dia's surprise, this was unlike everything he knew about ghosts. "Can you still go through solid objects?" he asked.
For the moment he forgot where he was locked up, and why he was there. He had Dia with him. He looked at his wrist where she had touched him. It had felt real.

The guard tensed up and glanced back to the door. "Yes, I can imagine," he said, shuddering slightly. He soon regained composure. "But if he would have behaved and not attack the psychiatrist, he wouldn't have been locked up here. It's for the safety of the others he has to stay here. I'm sure that you, as staff, realise that too."
The guard genuinely believed what they did here was for the best of the patient, that they were helping him.

Marc sighed, he knew for sure he had fucked-up. He thought back to his choice of words and while he didn't really know what he had said wrong, he honestly didn't want to see that evil side of her, so he wanted her to stay in control of her other side. Maybe he shouldn't have told her to try and stay in control, surely she would try that without him telling her.
"Look, I'm sorry if I offended you," he said. "I'm taking you out because I want to take you out and I'm sure we'll have a good time together."
The jazz still played, Marc left the jazz station on after Sara had mentioned it had a good effect on her.

@BladeSS4I put a little something on your path. Between Salenea and you, Gabe had the last post, so I'd say it's up to you for the next post.
@FrizanI understand if you're busy, but the contest closed a while ago. When do you think we can expect the voting thread?
"Yes," Meloetta whispered. "But have you seen that Cyndaquil? Now that is a cutie." She paused, floating in the air as she watched Michael and his companion. "I'm going to greet him!" She floated to him without waiting for an answer of Niccia, or anyone else for that matter, and almost collided with Michael, going around him just in time and she grabbed his face with her two arms. "You have nice eyes, I see why Niccia likes you~"
"T-thanks..." Michael said, unsure what more he could say about that.

Benny nodded as he watched the Meloetta holding Michael's face. What he wanted more was to go and find Andy, but someone had to stay with Bear. Even though he had his temper under control these days, there were always things that could make him lose control.
He looked at Li, the Pokémon looked around as if searching for something. Maybe he would have to check with him, but he decided to keep an eye on the situation from here. With his Compound Eyes he could see very clear.

Andy nodded as Frosiien spoke. "With "'close' I mean that you spend time with them, that you like spending time with them, and that there is a mutual trust or a form of caring." He hoped he would get close to Frosiien too, he definitely liked spending time with her, but it was too soon to establish the mutual trust or a form of caring.

Kim followed after Andy, listening to their conversation. She had her eyes on the keystone, where Varina was staying.
Andy chuckled at the praise, at least it was a good attempt. Not that the Laizu was wrong, but he could tell Alastor felt superior over humans. He listened to the question and laughed at the clarification.

"Small talk," Andy stated, still grinning, "very good. A few more days and you'll fit right in! Faking interest in other people's lives is an important part of our lives. As for your question..." he shrugged. "One day you are primordial ooze, the next day you have to take care of people accidentally cutting themselves, or falling down a ladder, or getting run over by a car while being on the bike." He walked to a cabinet and opened the door, pulling a bottle with a gold-like liquid from it. "The day was eventful, but it was a rather regular day at work."

He examined the label of the bottle before he turned to his quest. "Would you like to try a whisky? It's a kind of alcohol, the bane of humanity, but I like it and it doesn't cause any problems in moderation." He examined the Laizu. "I don't know how your body or mind will react to the alcohol though."
Work at the emergency care department had been hectic, as usual. Much to Andy's relief there were no more unusual cases, no more Laizus had fallen from the sky and the news hadn't reported about any incidents in the city. When the last patient he had to treat was diagnosed and stable he signed the form to transfer the patient to the appropriate department and let his colleagues take over.

Before going home, Andy made a stop at an electronics store and when he found what he needed he paid for it and continued home. He didn't know if his guest would be home or not, but he wasn't going to serve him fast food again. Not that he enjoyed cooking and he didn't even know what vegetables his guest would like, but he would be able to prepare a meal. With a bit of luck the Laizu would have hidden cooking skills.
Daydreaming about that, Andy drove to the building where his apartment was.

After parking his car, Andy went inside and took the elevator up. Once he reached his flat, he went inside. "I'm home," he announced, in case his guest was here as well.
