Cool with me.
Jinayah walked to where her sisters were, curtsying politely to them and her father.

"Father. Anna, Bella." Looking around, she spotted Emily by the stairs and nodded to her.

"Well." She didn't really know what to say. Sometimes she would make jokes, but she was not in the mood today.

"I suppose those boars will come in handy at some point." Getting gifts from visiting countries was nothing new, but she couldn't recall seeing any quite as large as those boars. She plastered on a smile for the prince that was in front, noting his pale green skin and beaded hair. It was a nice look, and the green was a pretty tone. Though she wouldn't say that to his face.

She cast a careful eye out for the other princes, wondering just who she was going to be forced with. With hope, he would be at least nice. Nice enough to wait on the whole 'heir' business, at least.
That came out better than I thought.
THWACK!

Out in the courtyard, the youngest princess of Apura was in the midst of a dilemma. Inhaling slowly, she withdrew another arrow from the quiver on her back. Today was the day she was to meet her future husband. Today was… not a good day, in her book. She nocked the arrow, exhaled, and released. The arrow soared straight into the center of the target, right next to the other that she had just shot. Despite everything, her aim was still as true as ever.

Jinayah smiled broadly, but that flickered out and faded as her thoughts took over. In her mind, being married meant the end of her freedom. She felt sick just thinking about it. How could she possibly hope to find a prince who understood who she was and why? No, it was impossible. She was going to be stuffed into skirts for the rest of her life, with her beloved bow packed away gathering dust and wood rot.

She had been back and forth about it with her sisters in the past weeks since the announcement had been made by their father. Jinayah had been quite vocally opposed to being married at all – she was not even an adult yet, after all. Why marry now?

But she understood, even if she did hate the idea. Alliances were important. Being friendly to the neighboring kingdoms even more so. So she went along with it, quashing her thoughts of fleeing and living the rest of her days as some strange, short, unknown archer in a different kingdom. If there was one thing Father had done, it was raise four daughters with courage.

“My lady…”

One of the handmaidens was in the opening to the archery range, politely calling out for her.

Jinayah heaved a heavy sigh, shoulders dropping. “Right. It’s time.”

She took her time collecting arrows and unstringing her bow. After wiping it down and treating it to protect the wood, she headed inside with the older woman to be bathed and dressed.

In the bath, she let her hands roam over her muscled arms and warm brown skin. She was not soft and pale like Annalise, or pretty and musical like Marabella, or even popular like Emily. She was just the odd one out, the trouser loving sharpshooter that got strange looks from other nobles. No one would understand, especially a pampered prince from another realm.

She was dressed in a soft and brilliant lavender gown, her short black hair brushed to gleaming and decorated with silver accents. At the very least, they had chosen her favorite colors. She knew the handmaidens knew how she was feeling; the servants knew everything. Maybe they were trying to make her feel better.

With a faint sigh, Princess Jinayah, fourth of the line, alighted the castle steps toward the main hall. Perfumed and primped and every bit the princess she felt she was not.
I'll try to get a post up today.

Kassandra was browsing some music on – what had the clerk called these – CDs? Humans made such fascinating things. She was enjoying herself so much that she did not notice Casper’s entrance. It wasn’t until the spectral boy started to play that she found her attention pulled.

“That’s… beautiful. What is that?” She poked her head out of the aisles to find her teammate at the keys. There was a tiny, growing crowd, and she joined it to hear out the rest of the piece. Her eyes slid closed with the beautiful music surrounding her. Once it was done, she too, applauded.

“I didn’t know you could play, Casper.” There was another smile on her face, this one bright and broad. Music did soothe the soul after all. “That was excellent!” She stepped forward so they could talk.

“Kila plays too. Wouldn’t it be amazing if you played together?” She didn’t know where in the store Kila had gone to, or she would have brought him over. She was pleasantly surprised that so many of her teammates had that kind of talent.

“I’m going to buy things. Lots of things. Did you know they make waterproof speakers?” On that cheery note, she stood and went to gather up what she wanted to buy. Several CDs of varying genres, a small orange MP3 player with headphones, and a pair of waterproof speakers for her bath-bed.

“Bye Casper, bye Kila. I’m going to see what else they have.” She smiled again (three smiles in one day, what were the odds) and went off, humming.

The next shop that called her in was one full of toys. Most of them were definitely for children, but it warmed her heart to see them here anyway. Human shaped dolls, video game systems, child size balls, and other things. When she’d fled from home – her mind seemed to freeze just thinking about it, but she forced herself onward. When she had left, she had to leave behind a lot of things in her haste. Clothing that had been replaced, but some of them had been childhood things that were probably gone forever. One had been a small, stuffed toy that her mother had gotten her many years ago.

Maybe it was time to replace some of those things. Of course they would never be the same, but that didn’t mean she couldn’t have just one. Looking around the plushy, squishy things, she finally came up with a stuffed shark about the length of her forearm. If she was reading the tag correctly, it was on sale as well. Did humans not like sharks?

With her shark in hand, she spotted a flash of purple that she recognized. Her mood dipped. It would be wrong to ignore him, wouldn't it?

“Hello, Zachary.” She tried her best not to sound completely defeated. Noting that he too, had a toy, she spoke up again. “Um… what is that creature you’re holding? It’s very pretty.”
Kijani’s eyes lit with a subtle flash of anger. “My father told you, did he?” Dark Side be damned, she was going to have some very angry words for Bail Organa. The anger dropped away as she maintained her composure.

“I see. Well, you’re here now. Nothing to be done about that.” She offered up a beatific smile. “Let’s go to my Master’s home. I’m certain he saw the ship and is wondering what’s going on.” Gesturing for him to follow, she started walking at an easy pace. Usually she would take a more direct route, but she had a feeling Eskel would not be pleased with treading through the murkier parts of the swamp.

“As for what I did to the Dragonsnake…” She explained as they walked. About the Force, about Jedi, about what her role was in everything. She even mentioned Adam. Her teacher, her friend. Even though her voice was calm and level, there was a distinct sadness in her eyes that even she didn’t know was present.

They reached Yoda’s home and Kijani’s little camp nearby.

“Stay here. I’ll inform the Master.” She flashed a smile, then entered Yoda’s home.

“Master Yoda? I’m back…. And we have a guest.”
My schoolwork is boring as hell so I wrote that up instead.

Jinny has probably stated very openly that she loves and cares for him. She's just not a touchy-feely kid for the most part.
Jinny sat quietly as her Uncle spoke, trying not to interrupt. While it was great that he didn’t think she would be alone, he had dropped several bombshells in a row that she really wanted to talk about.

He had a family? Emphasis on had. That was not such a huge surprise to her; everyone had a family, right? But it made her sad that they weren’t around anymore. It also answered what happened to his eye, which was something she had wanted to know since the day they had met. However, she had never once asked. She had been taught in school that it was impolite to do so. Despite not caring about dead rabbits, Jinny was not what one could call a rude child. She was usually well-behaved, despite her energetic nature.

Still, this explained so very much.

Jinny got up from where she was seated and went to her uncle. Then she hugged him very softly, her forehead briefly resting against his chest. It was rare for her to show this sort of affection, as she was not much for touching people. “I’m sorry your ex wife hurt you. Hating people is... not very nice.” It was clear she meant this. Then again, she hated the people who took her parents away, so she wasn’t without that particular brand of guilt. “I mean, I get why people hate people? But that doesn’t make it… good.” She paused, sorting her thoughts while she spoke them.

“Then again, I’m not worried about being good. Not in that way, anyway. But it kind of hurts your chest to hate someone, doesn’t it?” With that childish koan spoken, she looked upward at him in a curious way.

“You’re probably not going to answer me, but what if you met someone who was more like you – us – and didn’t care about rabbits either? Would that be good? I just don’t want you to be all alone when I go to school.” She grinned a bit, mischief in her eyes. “You need a girlfriend. Or a boyfriend. That way, you won’t be lonely.”

“When I go to the HIVE, I’m gonna make a friend.” She paused, thinking on this. “I don’t know how. But I’m sure I can figure it out.”
Well, it's up.

It's not much compared to the others, but it exists.
