Thanks guys, you're all very sweet. I tossed up a post. It's not much, so sorry for that.

Jinayah was gliding through the steps of an elegant dance with a nobleman friend when she heard the outburst of Prince Alexander. It was definitely a shock. Sure, she and her sisters did have their disagreements from time to time. Jinayah knew she was the most spoiled one, which she was sure rankled her sisters to no end. But they always made up – harsh words apologized for and forgiven in time.

But she’d never said anything like that to anyone in her family. She was wondering just what brought it on. She hadn’t gotten more than a few sentences out of Prince Alexander, and now this? Just how long had this temper been bubbling inside, buried and brewing up hatred?

She wondered if he had this kind of hidden temper in all things. What would that mean for his wife?
Not super good. Will try to post this weekend.
Jin awoke with a startle, their sleepy brain completely convinced they had just fallen a great height. Heart pounding, sweat coated Jin was even shaking slightly. Slowly, they patted the cracked leather beneath them, and realized that yes, they were still in their car. A look out the window revealed it wasn’t even dawn yet.

“What the hell was that dream…” Jin lay back and stared at the tattered cloth roof of their vehicle. That dream had seemed very real, but then, it always did. Then again, who was Jin to know? They’d never been in an airplane before, let alone one in the middle of some unknown war. That strange old man, with his beaked nose and his weird words. Lost souls circling the drain. That was a line to remember, though Jin would try their best to forget it. They felt that way every day of their life; it wouldn’t work to keep that kind of sentiment in their head in words. Same thing about “Finding your worth”. The world had decided what Jin was worth a long time ago, and it wasn’t much.

Time to catch more sleep. Jin shut their eyes again and dropped back into an exhausted slumber. The next time they woke was to the beeping of the old watch on their wrist. 6 am on the nose.

“Ugh. Five more minutes.” Sleep was good when you could get it. But no, it was time for another day of hell.

Jin clambered out of the car and grabbed a small duffel bag. This was the important stuff – wallet, keys, and work uniform. Everything else could be lost. Slinging it over their shoulder, they headed for the school.

Barclay Waterfront University wasn’t a terrible place in the early hours. There were only a few students milling around. Mostly TAs and adjunct professors getting coffee and breakfast. Jin, with their ring of maintenance keys, had mostly full reign of the place. No one questioned the keys, even less the uniform. Access to most of the campus helped keep up the illusion that Jin was just a normal employee, and not someone two steps from being on the street entirely.

This morning’s destination was the gym. Unlocking and slipping in, they showered as quickly as possible to keep from running into anyone else. Cleanliness was tantamount to being seen as human. Body odor was one of those things even nice people didn’t tolerate, and Jin showered whenever they could. It wasn’t daily, unfortunately, but luckily there was a lovely invention called deodorant. There was no time to bask under the water; in, out and on to the next thing was the goal.

Properly clean and dressed, Jin clocked into work with a few minutes to spare. Their boss was hanging by the time clock as usual, eyeing employees and watching like a hawk for anyone late. Jin had yet to be late, luckily. But they knew the boss wouldn’t tolerate it, based on stories from the others.

“Yer almost late, Ifriti, watch it.” The boss always smelled like an ashtray mixed with motor oil.

“Yeah, yeah.” Jin was not almost late - The boss just liked to micro-manage his employees into nonexistence. Turnover was high and work was hard, but Jin had no where else to go. Somehow, the boss seemed to know they had at least one employee they could bully, and gave Jin the hardest jobs whenever possible.

This morning, they had been tasked to replace a few dead lightbulbs before the student cafeteria got into full swing. They were carrying a ladder in one arm, with a heavy toolbox and a packet of the long halogen bulbs in the other; no mean feat for someone of their… limited size.

Entering the cafeteria, they set the ladder up carefully and went about the work.
Sorry my post is short. I wasn't sure what else to add.
Kijani weighed her options as she listened to the radio chatter. On the one hand, she was on vacation. On the other, this could be major - and she could be the first non-military to know about it. That, above all else, piqued her interest. Since she made a living out of knowing things, she could make bank off of what she already had now.

But no - just some military jargon wasn't enough. She had to see and know for herself.

"Mystic Jungle it is." She tossed the rest of her drink and made a quick beeline for her vehicle. Several minutes later, she was driving down the highway, with her destination in mind and plugged into the GPS. Always present in the trunk was her work kit. A few disguises, clothing for all occasions, and all sorts of recording equipment. This rabbit was always ready to get to work.

Her red eyes narrowed as she spotted the gunship cutting diagonally across the highway, just ahead. They had the easy route. She could feel her temperament changing, like flipping a switch. Kijani was out - Origami was in.

Jinayah was getting tired of gowns.

The castle had been on somewhat of a lockdown after Marabella's kidnapping and return. Her father had given the order that she was to stay within the castle grounds. So she couldn't put on her trousers and go out, which was stifling. So she'd spent it near the training grounds as much as possible. She did her best to keep herself active, as being cooped up indoors was practically punishment for the active princess.

She avoided the other King as much as she could, without being impolite. There was just something so fishy about him, even though she had no concrete evidence.

The big day approached too quickly, and Jin was practically forced into a soft silver gown and doused in lily perfume. She hated the perfume. Didn't they know that scent just ruined a good hunt? Not to mention, it sort of gave her a headache. But primped and polished, she did show up at the grand ball.

She was going to have to have a long talk with her future husband, about pants and bows and freedom, and she was dreading it. She tried to keep the morose look from her face as she entered.

Kassandra nodded at the instructions from Talon, then waited on Zatara to do his thing. The illusions were well done; she couldn’t have done better under short notice.

“Nice work.” She smiled at Zatara, then got serious again. She exhaled slowly, steadying her nerves, and then she vanished yet again. Her soft, disembodied voice echoed in the hall. “Back in a bit.”

She approached the door, waiting for Talon to approach as well. Once they were both in position, she opened the door again, very slowly, and slipped inside.

“The damn door again? Gurk!” One of the guards started toward the door, but then he seemed to freeze, his hands going to his neck. Kassy popped up out of stealth behind the guard, holding him in a well-performed chokehold.

She had been working and studying on different types of fighting and combat techniques, to figure out what would suit her best. After much internal debate, she had decided on wrestling. It was a decently popular sport underwater, and she had a lot of fun watching the costumed version on television with the bombastic storylines. Putting it into practice had taken some more time, as she had limited practice partners. The only one who matched her weight class was Victor, so he had become her teacher.

The guard clutched at Kassy’s arm, his fingernails scraping at her skin. She flinched but held tight. After a few seconds, he dropped, unconscious. She let him go, gently laying him on the ground. Then she checked his pulse to be certain he would live. It seemed to be okay.

Once that was done, she went to the nearest terminal and started reading.
It didn't take Jin to get the news either. She sped as much as she could in a gown, to see her sisters and father embracing. She too, joined the group, trying to control her own tears. "Bella, thank goodness you're back!"

She could feel her older sister shaking, and wondered what she'd gone through. Nothing nice, of course, but she wasn't going to ask unless Bella was comfortable bringing it up.

"It's okay now. We have you."
Yes, please change the scene.
