Wow. We've come a long way, huh. At this rate we will get all Pokemon entries in about 9 years and we will capture all the Pokemon in about 30 years. o.O
Erika considered Isaac's stock carefully before deciding that none of it was worth buying at the moment, forgetting that the thunderstone might be useful down the line with Chu. "Hmm.. Freecape Town, alright thank you Isaac and see you later! I'm headed off to try for my first gym badge... I hope." Erika said, looking forward to Stillwood Village, remembering that there should be a gym located in that small, sleep town.
With her ambitions set for the day, it was time to try out her battling ability and offered multiple invitations to other trainers along the path. The trainer from Redcoast had provided Erika with a bit of information that she had already known but reaffirmed her long-term goal. The Stone Store in Raremine was going to be Erika's eventual destination, given time of course. The two would battle and Erika's lead was arguably her strongest, Gibs. At this level Dragon Rage was still strong and that's immediately what Erika called for in this first battle. For the Hoppip, Erika used the typing advantage she had with Sno and used Powder Snow to make short work of the grass/flying type. For Eevee, Erika decided to bring out Chu to give him a chance to battle. Play-nice was used a few times to weaken Eevee's attack strength while also ignoring the potential accuracy loss with sand-attack. Then it was a matter of trying to get Thundershock to hit...
Chu was Erika's first choice when she met and challenged a school kid. Koffin was likely a tougher battle considering Erika's team had no typing advantage and the threat of poison but Erika planned on making short work of Koffin with purely Thundershock. Although Chu may have been able to handle Spearow in the next bout, Erika opted instead to give Sno the typing advantage she had, using Powder Snow again to wreck another flying type. Roggenrola was tricky since Poli wasn't in her team at the moment but Erika stuck with what she knew rock wasn't strong against and that invovled Gibs again. Sand-attack was used before following up with Dragon Rage to power through the rock type's defense. Hopefully that School Kid was taught a lesson about humility!
Slightly annoyed with her next challenger, Erika faced off against a wannabe psychic. Kay would be the perfect choice in this encounter but upon summoning her in against Bronzor, she stuck her tongue out and floated away for a moment with Erika yelling at her to come back. She didn't go far, thankfully. Thus Chic was Erika's backup and even though Erika felt like the steel typing was at a disadvantage, she hadn't accounted for Heatproof turning the fight into a real slugfest. Ember was the only move Erika was pushing Chic to do and try and make short work of her opponent. After some pleading and some intimidation from Gibs, Kay fought against Gothita using Foul Play and psychic immunity to hopefully destroy Gothita. Erika wanted Kay to keep going but Kay simply ignored her and took a comfortable viewing seat on a nearby tree branch. Sno was Erika's second choice to counter the flying type, using Leer before Icy Shard to hopefully break down Woobat.
No doubt her team was really feeling tired at this point but with Stillwood in sight, Erika challenged one more opponent who was also heading South towards Raremine. Kay was drifting around behind, awestruck about the open sky but Erika was content on letting her wander about a bit. She at least helped in one battle. Some rock collector or something but regardless of the man, Erika used her last two potions to recover Sno and Chic. Sno used double team and icy shard to hopefully defeat Sandile, while Chic was tasked with Ember attacks against Magnetmite. Finally the untrialed Eep was Erika's choice for Nuzleaf. Using mainly acid but also constrict and astonish in minor ways to hopefully and eventually defeat Nuzleaf.
With that, Erika's first move was to use the Pokemon Center (if there was one) in Stillwood before finally considering her other options in town!
Erika considered for a moment what she wanted to do but ultimately believed that resting here for the night was best. She still intended on getting her green gem appraised and her Pokemon were likely just as exhausted as she was. "Oh! Yea! Ha! I guess this might seem really cold to others, especially considering I'd go camping sometimes on Mount Chill with my mother..." Erika paused, thinking back to all that time spent with her mother. Those nights were some of the coldest Erika had ever felt but all that time with her mother and learning how to become a trainer made things worth it. On one of those trips as well, Erika swears she encountered a wild Froslass up that mountain. If Joshua was interested, Erika would quickly tell her story about exactly why Froslass was her favorite Pokemon and that encounter was certainly the primary reason why.
In short, the story went like this...
During one of her hikes with her mother, a fierce blizzard had suddenly appeared. It could have been a very powerful Abomasnow walking by because it was so sudden, at least that's what Erika's mother believed. Regardless, the blizzard was so intense that Erika had accidentally fallen behind while they were trying to make their way back to camp. In that blizzard, a Froslass had crept up and scared her half to death with a sudden appearance though the frosted veil. Although Froslass usually have quiet the nefarious relationship, the Froslass that Erika had met lead her back to her mother. Ever since then, Erika has been quiet mystified by the ghostly Pokemon that she wanted one herself.
Now assuming Joshua was interested and stuck around to hear the story, Erika would conclude that she supposes the cold doesn't really bother her anyway. She might give mining one last shot tomorrow but there were a lot of reasons to continue. One of those reasons, Claire, was supposed to meet her there eventually. Erika hoped she wouldn't be late and make Claire wait.
With that she bid Joshua a farewell, saying she'll probably be in Stillwood early tomorrow so if they wanted to meetup for lunch then they could! Now with her by herself, she decided to let her whole team out to stretch their legs and rest. She also felt like her new team members, those frozen in ice, would probably like the freedom to see things a bit. So she would pull each out of their Pokeballs.
The first Pokemon Erika received and her secret favorite, Sno was the first to come forth. She took a quiet glance around the lodge before grinning and rubbing her hands together. It was likely she realized she was close to something like home. Erika gave her a pat and brought Chic out next. Seeing as she was always excitable, Chic tiredly screeched out of excitement as it ran around Erika and Sno before collapsing. Erika bent down and picked her up, placing her delicately on the cushion behind her. Gibs, upon being brought in, opened his mouth wide and give a long yawn before straightening out giving Sno a nudge before flexing his muscles, staying true to being tough. Chu, one who Erika hadn't gotten to know much up to this point, glanced around a bit hesitant but curious at all the new faces (save for Gibs who he took a step away from). Eep was rather lethargic, drooping slightly as he stayed rooted to one spot also glancing around.
Finally Kay was certainly... a handful. The first thing she did was slap Erika's hand away with her stubby tentacle and swam up away. Erika frowned, calling Kay to calm down, nobody is going to hurt her. However Kay ignored this, turned away, and then began fluttering towards the door! Erika, surprised slightly, clambered to chased after Kay but once the Inkay noticed she was being pursued began hurrying off and swam in a sporadic pattern. Gibs, who still remembered the game, chased after Erika hoping to poke her in a game of "tag" again. The rest of Erika's Pokemon watched as the spectacle went on for a moment before Erika made a diving catch and seized Inkay in her arms. Clutching her Pokemon tightly but not too tight, Erika gently stroked Kay's side, telling her it is okay and she can be outside her Pokeball to sleep with the rest of the team but she needs to be good. At this time, Gibs caught up and began poking Erika in the ankle before finally lifting his arms in victory for another game won. The rest of Erika's team applauded.
With everything settled down, Erika and her team went to bed. Kay separated herself from the rest, opting to sleep on a shelf above everyone else. Sno was secretly tasked by Erika to keep an eye on her.
Anyway, Erika surprisingly got plenty of sleep before waking up the next day. With her team all accounted for, she returned them to their Pokeballs and set off for the Miner's Shop. She wanted to quickly check to see what was new and once she did that, she pulled out her Bug Gem for Isaac to identify, since Erika didn't know what it was.
6.2. Miner’s Shop. Skip all the hard work of actually mining and buy what the miners are selling! Varies every day!
Skinky! Sorry! I was just so fatigued from last week midterms and stuff that it really put me off of trying to write stuff. I wanted my next post to be kind of long with exposition and flesh out personalities a bit with my Pokemon so hopefully tonight I can write something up good and Erika's story can continue!
Edit:
Ok! I posted so hopefully that's all good. Still not sure what Erika might do next but I think she is going to challenge a bunch of trainers on her way to Stillwood. So quick battles will be coming up most likely.
Mori remained fixated on the Draconian while he spoke his expected stoic response. It was a typical disposition of the timeless so much so that they were held to this common stereotype even if Mori, herself, had never met one previously. As the words sank in, Mori couldn't help but be amused by the response. Gaia was not what Mori was implying when she said the tournament was going to end abruptly and even though her meaning may have not be explicit enough, she chose to assume the Draconian was either clueless or deflecting. Either scenario was something that tickled Mori's mind as one meant this likely powerful being was oblivious or trying to keep some noble stoicism around the people. There wasn't much else to consider, although it did cross her paranoid mind briefly that the Draconian could have been in on something. Regardless, her reaction was the same, undetectable behind her mask.
Mori allowed the Draconian to continue, however, and the earlier amusement shifted to wonderment to confirmation that the creature was deflecting. Of course something was amiss! MAVERICK was moving with some sense of urgency and the regular attendants were all on edge. There was a tension in the air and it didn't come from the weather patterns. Watching the Draconian move towards the door, Mori remained idle for a moment longer before hearing his call for answers to questions that he was still keeping close to his chest. Mori fluttered over to the doorway calling back to him. "I have the feeling you may not need go far for answers, Dragon." She stopped as she heard the announcement of the tournament's continuation before turning back to the conversation at hand.
Although Mori wasn't necessarily noble, she knew at the very least that panic was something the masses were prone to and avoiding the topic until now, when it was just the two of them in earshot beyond this doorway made it a better time to be curt about the situation."Last year's tournament was ended by an abrupt visit from unfriendly figures. I have no doubts that the very same thing is happening again. They can pretend it isn't going to happen but you and I already know it is. What possible questions would you need answers to that you don't already know?"
