While I won't post yet, I'll note ??? is going to relay the stuff being said in that scene in the foyer to everyone on Mariette's side while Mariette opens portals to tactically place people in place for ambushing the foyer. Haven't decided who were yet, but yeah, that's moderately important info.
Aria used Play Nice, making her opponent somehow subconsciously hold back a bit by just looking so dang pure! Still, that did not stop Hawlucha from reaching her and striking with a ferocious Karate Chop from above! Fortunately for Aria, she’d boosted her defense significantly, but a poor defense boosted meant it still couldn’t keep up with a Hawlucha’s attack, even with that attack lowered! Still, being a balloon meant Aria bounced straight up in the air after the wrestler’s attack. He blinked up at her, and up there Aria had a perfect chance to unleash her Disarming Voice down at him!
Disarming Voice cannot miss, so it didn’t matter that Hawlucha dodged aside as if to dodge it like sing, the sound-waves of the charming cry converged on its target regardless! Hawlucha gave a cry of emotional pain, somehow, the Super Effective damage coursing through his head. He glared up at Aria, and then jumped after her for a Wing Attack…!
Hawlucha had far more Attack than Aria had Defense, even with Aria’s thrice Defense Curling. However, Aria was dealing Super Effective damage with Disarming Voice. While Hawlucha was still the one who did the most damage, as a Jigglypuff Aria could take advantage in the single stat that was superior to that of a Hawlucha; Health. Hawlucha did more damage, but Aria could take more damage. That, and Aria would never miss with Disarming Voice, while Hawlucha had to chase the balloon Pokémon down. As a result…
The battle was even. If the two kept just trading blows, there was no telling who’d win. Hawlucha was definitely just going to charge after Aria and Karate Chop or Wing Attack interchangeably.
What does Basil and Aria do?
Route 11
Those heading to Route 11 by any other route than from Rainrock may receive a warning of the weather conditions by the clouds gathering overhead to release before climbing over Mt. Strength. Route 11 consists mainly of one big road leading in-between Rainrock City and Redcoast City, two cities with very close ties and bonds due to many reasons. Aside from the main road there are farmlands below as well as plenty of small patches of forests and plains around, all under the spotty clouds that sometimes shower the area in a blanket of light rain, sometimes shine down with a hopeful sun through the cracks in the sky but mostly both at the same time.
Route 11 is somewhat of a crossroad. To the east lies Rainrock City, and the path there leads on an incline to the high altitude of the mountain-laid city from the coastal Redcoast City in the west. Should one decide that one does not wish to head in either direction, the path north to Route 12 exists and is considered the main road to bigger places like Bigfjord or Worldedge City or perhaps out over the seas of Route 27. Route 11 is also fairly known for a high amount of abandoned buildings, as those who lived in them moved to neighboring cities in recent times. They stand, looming, free to explore for those who rejoices in emptiness. But, one famous building that perhaps isn’t as abandoned is the Pokéball Factory in the north-east, just off-road in the direction of Route 12.
The route is decently well-trafficked, with trainers and others coming down from Route 12 to Rainrock or Redcoast or onwards, and as such trainers might want to stay off the main road. Plenty of side-roads, though. Due to the rains many hurry past these terrains… but perhaps they’re missing out on a few rare Pokémon in the process?
1. Find Pokémon. Can be specified what kind of Pokémon is being searched for, and how you search. 2. Train Pokémon. With this command, we can jump ahead in time and skip posting about grinding. 3. Seek trainers. There should be some trainers among those walking back and forth in the area. 4. Talk. There’s plenty of travellers around. Maybe seek answers to any burning questions you have. 5. Move along. Move along normally, letting any events that may come happen naturally. 6. Hurry along. Intentionally avoid confrontations and try to get safely to the next destination. 7. Specify. If you specify what you want to do, the GM will take it into account and tell the result. 8. Trigger random event. Force the GM to use his imagination to make a scenario for you. 9. Area Specific: Explore Buildings. There’s abandoned buildings. Why not have a look?
Connected areas: Redcoast City. To the west. A pretty straight road. Rainrock City. To the east. Requires a bit of a climbing road. Route 12. Requires crossing Route 11 on the way north, also pretty well-traveled. Pokéball Factory. A turn east on the path north should bring you there. Northern Silent Forest. Going south, one can breach into the rainy forest.
‘Ooh. That’s pretty cool vase. Looks really old,’ the shopkeeper said, looking over the offered vase. ‘Not something I’m personally interested in. After all, it’s not a stone,’ he said, shrugging. ‘But I do think I know who might be interested. There’s an eccentric super-rich dude in Freecape Town who fancies himself a collector of interesting things. I bet if you take that to him, you’d fetch yourself quite the price. … That, or maybe the researchers in town would be interested in it?’ He chuckles a bit. ‘It looks old, so maybe they’d like to do research on it. Don’t expect a particularly handsome reward from them, though. At best, maybe they have a fossil around they don’t need anymore.’
To go to the Desert Mines, Skylar needed to pass through Route 7. So…
Route 7
A rocky desert stretches out behind Raremine Town. Route 7 is located in somewhat of a basin, surrounded by giant cliffs that cause all the clouds to empty themselves of water before passing this single area, causing the single most potent desert of Isson, the sun eternally glaring down with heat echoing from the sand beneath. While this desert contains a lot more rocks than a regular vast desert does due to the cliffs sometimes falling down into it and the boulders rolling about, there is somewhat of an influx of air soaring down into the valley, regularly blowing sand up into the skies. Sandstorms are a semi-regular occurrence on Route 7, and one in particular is always covering up the path that is said to lead to the Mystic Oasis, which can only be reliably found through the assistance of a Vivillon, which was found out a while ago by the citizens of Raremine Town. Still, the path to the Desert Mines is usually clear and populated by miners walking back and forth, and those fortunate can pass all the way to the Old Tombs without any issues…
Yet those crossing the desert do need to keep their wits about, for sandstorms are not the only things that might potentially lie in wait in the sands. Here and there, there’s the swirl of creatures on the hunt swims through the sand, looking for prey…
Pokédex Entry #551 – Sandile, the Desert Croc Pokémon. They live hidden in hot desert sands to keep their body temperature from dropping. It’s capable of submerging itself and swimming in sand, only its nose and eyes sticking up occasionally. Due to not being confident in hunting, it usually goes after things that have collapsed in the desert.
Every once in a while stands a green plant emitting a strong aroma, alluring prey to walk close. It wouldn’t take a long time to find one, their green stands out in this environment.
Pokédex Entry #331 – Cacnea, the Cactus Pokémon. It lives in arid environments such as deserts. It can survive for 30 days without additional intake of water. It lures prey in with a strong aroma, before shooting its prey full of thorns or slamming them down with its thorny arms. Once a year, a yellow flower blooms on it, the more beautiful the more arid the conditions.
And occasionally there are little red balls that are supposedly Pokémon that are either running about like their butts are on fire or remain so still standing on the desert that one would think they’re asleep, which they are, they’re just standing up anyways.
Pokédex Entry #554 – Darumaka, the Zen Charm Pokémon. When its internal fire burns, it cannot calm down and has to run around. When the fire diminishes, it falls asleep and pulls its limbs into its body to form a state where it will always right itself no matter how it is pushed or pulled. Because the droppings of a Darumaka never cools down, they can be used to heat clothes by those who doesn’t consider that disgusting.
Current Condition; Mostly Clear, slightly windy - There’s a swirl in the winds, throwing the occasional sand into the air. It might grow more intense, it might cool down. Only the future will tell. The usual sandstorm blows over the path to the Mystic Oasis…
1. Find Pokémon. Can be specified what kind of Pokémon is being searched for, and how you search. 2. Train Pokémon. With this command, we can jump ahead in time and skip posting about grinding. 3. Seek trainers. There are miners and the occasional archaeologist around here to potentially seek out. 4. Talk. They can also just be chatted to! 5. 9. Area Specific; Delve into the Sandstorm. If you think you’re prepared! 10. Area Specific; Search the sands. There may be ancient items submerged in the sands around.
Connected areas: Raremine Town. Right behind you. Desert Mines. What Raremine Town stands here for! These mountains are filled with dough!. Old Tombs. Across the desert, an old and chilling place awaits those who wants to visit… Mystic Oasis. Somewhere within that sandstorm, that is.
If he’d like to just head over to the Desert Mines, here we go.
Desert Mines
The Desert Mines is what the town of Raremine was created for. Outside the entrance exists a small gathering of tents and buildings to supply the people passing through, where different people gather to potentially purchase the findings of the mines. There are different mines for the various metals that are used throughout Isson for construction, but the place people think of when heading to the Desert Mines is the one specific where trainers are allowed to pick up their own pickaxes and head down to dig! The miners tend to use their Pokémon to help with the digging, and a lot of the Pokémon they use are native to the cave itself, so for some help just catch one and go at it!
There are maps showing where you’re more likely to find different things, be they stones, fossils or remnants of ancient civilizations. The mines themselves are well-lit, with lamps in the ceiling letting people wander free. The Pokémon here are very used to humans walking about and are constantly maintaining the structural integrity of the tunnels, making it a very safe working environment, despite being a mine. But, deep in the mines is a place where people stop going, lamps no longer light the place up, a place where Pokémon are allowed to live free. What sort of secrets might await in the deepest depths of the Desert Mines? Are you here to find out?
Most common Pokémon around here were some mice with brick-patterned yellow dry hide, tiny moles sticking their tiny heads out of holes, living floating rocks with arms, small desert crocodiles and somewhat larger moles with digging claws, longer noses and the ability to actually get out of their holes. As mentioned, they’re pretty used to humans and won’t really bother anyone as long as they’re not attacked.
Pokédex Entry #27 – Sandshrew, the Mouse Pokémon. It lives in arid regions burrowing deep underground. It emerges only to hunt for food, which it catches by lounging out of their burrows. If threatened, it curls into a protective ball and bounces off from enemy attacks. If it gets cold at night, its body will coat itself with a fine dew.
Pokédex Entry #50 – Diglett, the Mole Pokémon. They live underground and spend most of their time submerged. It’s weak to light, and will only pop up where shielded or in caves. They often exist a mere yard underground eating roots. They’re often raised on farms, because soil dug through by Digletts is left perfectly tilled for growing healthy crops.
Pokédex Entry #74 – Geodude, the Rock Pokémon. Found in fields as well as mountains. They commonly rest, half-buried in the ground and indistinguishable from normal rocks. There are always way more Geodude around than a traveler will notice. Stepping on one by accident may trigger their rage.
Pokédex Entry #529 – Drilbur, the Mole Pokémon. They and Excadrills dig out mazelike nests underground in which they live. Drilbur is known for being able to travel very fast through soil, able to reach 30 mph by putting its claws together and spinning rapidly, drilling through earth. They’re known to be rather friendly around people.
So, what would Skylar like to do here?
1. Find Pokémon. Can be specified what kind of Pokémon is being searched for, and how you search. 2. Train Pokémon. With this command, we can jump ahead in time and skip posting about grinding. 3. Seek trainers. The miners around here commonly have Pokémon and could totally take you. 4. Talk. There’s plenty of miners and some researchers one could talk to. 5. Mine. Grab a tool, and get to chopping! The miners always appreciate the extra help! Your chances may increase with a Pokémon helping! 6. Brave the Cave. Seek deeper into the cave, see what form of secrets the depth of the mine might hold. 7. Mine Sellers. People on the outside of the mine willing to buy scraps you may have found! 8. Specify. If you specify what you want to do, the GM will take it into account and tell the result. 9. Trigger random event. Force the GM to use his imagination to make a scenario for you.
Huh. Well. That was no fun. That a single pulse of fear drove away all the kobolds. She’d been having them prepare to fire at their enemies through holes in the walls and have this ultimate ambush that’d take out at least one of them. Instead, this single Magical Girl just unleashed a something pulse that rendered that whole encounter moot. Irritating.
Oh, well. Better just burn them all when they go up the stairs.
Void Room - Infiltration Team
‘I am super happy that we had you with us!’ Ronin called to the Magical Dream Princess as she saved them from dropping into the Collector’s grasp and helped them through the portal.
On the way up the stairs, the stairs suddenly sealed behind them and above them a magma-bomb exploded, sending a couple thousand liters of burning hot magma came pouring down at them.
After they easily overcame this trap, they found themselves in the foyer. It was possible they heard some running from the above balcony, some Magical Girls were evacuating because there was no way they could do the trap as intended now. Then a dead Remorhaz was shoved through the doorway and a series of pressure-plates were activated, each resulting in a sudden detonation that reduced the corpse to dust. Still, other than that, there sure wasn’t much here. Because Mariette was ignoring them…
They probably saw how the roof above them suddenly took massive damage, albeit didn’t fall. Why, a huge magic bomb just detonated there and now Gorelions with their massive weight was walking on it. It was honestly impressive how it didn’t fall down on their heads.
However, one of their numbers felt something.
@Majoras End Anaya felt an immense force suddenly emerge from somewhere in the basement. There was an intense pressure of spectral magical power, tugging at basically any undead soul in the area. She was of course keeping the ones she was already attached to… but there were other, recently dead souls, who were easily claimed by this new entity. Whatever it was, it rose out of the basement, somewhere along the eastern side of the mansion whereas they were currently located in the middle, rising up towards the battle taking place above…
‘Okay. Keeping in mind that our enemy can portal her forces, what do we do, now?’ Ronin asked. She had honestly not considered that far. She really just needed to get to Mariette, somehow.
There were paintings of various of Asengav’s Champions, but the paintings were also mirrors…
Aside from Mariette and Eli, Eli’s painting having a removed second half…
There was one more painting. The problem with it, was that it was blank. Like, there was someone supposed to be in the picture, but failed to show up to be depicted, or something. … Ronin pointed at that one in specific, and whispered. ‘That one. She’s an information expert that is likely following our every move. She needs a small, secluded area to work in, though. Do we have a way to find her? If we do, she can’t fight, herself… I think. I’ve never been able to find or corner her, myself, so I don’t actually know, hah.’

Now, this was technically where Mariette was located, but her mind sure wasn’t. Mariette was utterly focused on the map displaying everyone’s locations in front of her and the little voice in her ear telling updates.
So, the girls opened fire, and it looked pretty good. Justine was running out of Thralls. Yet, somehow, the Red Nest gunner penetrated their defenses and shot down 8 common magical girls. Must have had barrier-piercing bullets, or something, considering the sheer number of defensive girls trying to keep them safe. Sally shot one, okay, sure. Then, Justine appeared in the opening…
‘FALL BACK! FULL DEFENSE!’ Mariette called, through communicators to the people there. She started opening portals for her troops to relocate to other places in the mansion. The defensive line was done, it was time to regroup.
The explosive came in. It was met with a myriad of different defensive measures. Ronja, Alexander and Eli’s barriers, Suzette raised a shield of determination, Tullia and Victoria both kicked up shields of ice to block the bomb and Josefin quickly started draining mana from their attacker. Even Mayra grabbed one of the would-be lost girls and then blasted a spray of fire into the incoming explosion. Despite all their efforts, the explosive still destroyed another eight girls…
‘Recover the wounded!’ Mariette commanded.
‘There are no wounded,’ information girl informed. ‘Just dead or alive.’ There were only five common Magical Girls left.
Mariette writhed a bit. They’d put up the greatest defense they could possibly have managed… and this was what it amounted to? 17 girls had died. Out of her original 33 girls, only 15 remained… and only 5 of those were on the Artillery Line.
Could she have done something differently? Could she have done something that would have resulted in the same amount of injury to their foes while reducing casualties? … No. Mariette was fairly sure that was impossible. Any other plan would have probably have done far worse.
‘W-wah… I got a whole lot of mana…’ Josefin told, holding her arms forward with the yellow mana sinking into her hands like a cloud, as she’d tried to suck up the explosion, and while that hadn’t been possible she more or less filled up.
Then Justine called up the Gorelions. Nope, not an option.
‘Everyone, fall back, regroup! Help others fall back! I’m opening portals! I’m summoning a being that will fight Justine!’ she called through communicators, opening portals for people to flee to various places across the mansion. ‘Esther, target the Gorelions! Slow them down, aid our escape!’
So she said. As promised, portals started opening at various points behind them for them to escape through, towards various safe back-rooms from where Mariette was intending on then portalling them individually to the same location. Then, it was simply a matter of getting them there.
Meanwhile, somewhere in the mansion, the wooden Magical Girl that had bound herself with the mansion flexed. She’d felt the pain of when Justine’s bomb went off, and now felt the heavy feet of the Gorelions standing ominously where they should not. She manipulated the floor and roof, having the wood inside extend, magically having the wood quickly bind around the legs of the gargantuan beasts while wooden lances from below sought weak points in their armour to pierce or otherwise annoy the creatures enough to make them stop focusing on the other individuals of the room.
So, Hilaria found herself momentarily caught by a tongue.
‘ICE…!’ came a call, and Victoria vaulted over her and struck down at the tongue with an kick engulfed in cold magic that, upon impact, sent a freezing chill through the tongue, the cold magic rendering it frozen stiff.
‘… AND FIRE!’ Mayra burned up her dragonic leg to glowing temperatures and came with a follow-up kick from below, intent on cracking the frozen tongue with this clash of cold and heat, freeing Hilaria.
If it succeeded, the two close combat fighters high-fived with grins before dashing back to retreat through portals as ordered.
Otherwise, Suzette and Tullia could give covering fire in the shape of high-power magical beams to hold off their foes, and otherwise help people get through portals. Josefin and Eli just pulled back, no questions asked. Healers and support are too important to stick around.
It appeared that Eliza and Alexander engaged the Gorelions as the others escaped. At the end of it, there was the piece of information… they were weak to light. … Mariette quickly made the observation that perhaps she was needed on the field of battle after all. Maintaining the portals to let others escape, Mariette stood up in her office.
‘Cover me,’ she told the ones nearest her, which would be Dina and Silhouette, as her hands were starting to glow with magic. A portal dropped Ronja next to her. ‘Help us recover our allies,’ she told Ronja and the rest. Then, a portal opened, right by Lily.
Mariette blasted one Gorelion directly with light, intent on freeing Lily, wherever she is at the moment. With the second one, she shot whatever Gorelion would mean Alexander is free to arrive, possibly the same one. ‘Get in,’ Mariette requested, if they were at all hesitant. Ronja was there to shoot reinforced web to them, attaching to them to swiftly pull them into Mariette’s portal to rescue them from this particular battle. Then, of course, she closed that portal as quickly as possible and opened another to retrieve Eliza, because she’d be the one ally left, should Hilaria have pulled back when commanded to.
She just hoped the entity she had summoned would reach in time.

So, on the outside, it appeared that the attack on the Artillery Line gave the Assault Team a brief respite. That, is, except…
‘Hey, whatever happened to your army!? There’s, like, just five of you left!’
So, they’d been able to destroy the wolves, the Remorhaz, most of the clones, opened a path to and broken through the front gate… but under the assumption Aurelio was teleporting the injured Hyun Long back, how many were left?
It was Aurelio, Kimble, Sakura, two thralls, Sally and a Red Mist member. Slightly more than the five the surviving Victoria clone was insisting, but it sure weren’t many.
‘You SURE you want to attack with those numbers? We still got plenty of allies left! Maybe you should pull back?’ the Victoria clone called, from a moderately safe distance, having stayed out of the fight for the express reason to shout demoralizing lines at them while hiding part-way down the snow.
So, Su requested an extraction as she fell through the air and caught Helga… and in that moment, a different wind caught onto her. Above them was Lea, of Asengav’s champions, binding her wind around them from a considerable distance and yanked them up through the air towards her, lifting them both up and beyond. There, a portal open for the three of them to go through.
‘…’ Lea had seen Kimble down there. There was at least some part of her that desired to save the formerly monster-girl, a slight connection. But it was nothing compared to her bond to Asengav, and she could not risk it being severed. If Kimble saw her, though, she predicted that their next meeting, if any, would be a bit more problematic. … Oh, well.
Trixy and Viridian would also find a portal to open near them. The order to retreat was to everyone. This included the Yeti, who suddenly found a portal open beneath him and he fell into the building.
She didn’t say a word to Su or Helga as she flawlessly extracted them. That is, unless someone intercepted them, but it was distinctly possible that Justine was about to be very much distracted.
She was… hitting? Taihei couldn’t entirely believe it. She was actually causing casualties among her enemies? Where was her usual explosions, the sudden destruction of her immediate surroundings, whatever other bad luck that caused her to be entirely unable to help in any way whatsoever?
Then the bomb exploded above her. Oh, it was time. Now everything was going to come collapsing down on her and wipe out her room. Taihei braced herself for impact… but the ceiling held on. Nothing came collapsing down on her. Taihei heard in the reports how many others had suffered, but not her. … How was that possible? If anything, that bomb should have somehow duplicated into her room. It was like she wasn’t even unlucky?
That’s when Sally called out to her. Wait… that… that’s it. Taihei stared at her with her usual, dreary eyes, as the reality of the situation came into fruition. It was her. The one whose name they had mentioned when going through possible adversaries in Beacon they might one day fight. Shamrock Sally, the super-lucky one. Somehow, their fields of fortune (or lack thereof) had come into contact… and neutralized one another. … … … …
‘Ha… haha…’ Taihei chuckled, a devious little smile spreading across her lips. With this development, there was nothing that could stop her anymore. Taihei on her own, without her bad luck, was a phenomenally powerful Magical Girl. Without her bad luck, she was going to be invinci-!
A bullet struck Taihei’s cheek, making her whole body twist in pain as the bullet flew off her.
To put this into perspective. Taihei has utterly overloaded her body with defensive artifacts. In order to combat her own bad luck and ensure her survival, she has all manners of defensive effects on her, to the degree that she basically does not fear death anymore. And here was a random bullet that for some reason passed straight through all her defenses and struck her cheek for absolutely no given reason.
Taihei suddenly realized. What was happening was not that their luck was averaged. What was happening was a massive imbalance in the innate magical force known as luck. Two extremities in this force had collided, and created an area of chaotic fortune for the both of them. What was once exceedingly unlikely, their luck in mind, suddenly became exceedingly likely, and vice versa.
Taihei, a person forced to live with her ill fortune, was obviously someone who couldn’t leave her survival to chance. She’d equipped herself with so many defensive artifacts that she was virtually unkillable. Not even her own bad luck was capable of overcoming the miniscule chance of something bad enough happening to her. So, in this field of chaotic luck, where the unlikely becomes likely…
It was Taihei’s worst nightmare. She could be killed by anyone right now. The only reason that shot hadn’t killed her outright was because, at that range, it was impossible for Sally’s shamrocks to pierce her exceedingly tough skin.
That could change.
‘STAY AWAY FROM ME-!!’ Taihei shouted, and a barrage of super-heavy lances came barreling for Sally and the Red Mist member next to her. The barrage swiftly ended, on account that Taihei was working with limited ammunition, and just ran out of lances. She quickly got her communicator. ‘Mariette, I am in danger! Get me out of here!’ she told, and no sooner had the words left her mouth when a portal opened behind her. Taihei threw a partly frightened look at Sally, and jumped to escape.
Turns out, she did treasure her life, after all. She just didn’t realize until it was in danger.
Did everyone manage to escape the Artillery Line through portals? Were there still Gorelions alive? If so, the Gorelions were allowed to advance through the empty space, probably chasing after those who had retreated… and then the girl in the small space pressed a button. The “Trapped Room”, as well as the two “Extra Storages” to its left and right suddenly and phenomenally detonated, with all force directed forward.
Of course Mariette had expected the Artillery Line to be attacked, that’s why the Trapped Room existed. Mariette had not known what exactly would be the target of this amassed firepower, but the Gorelions made worthy targets. Rest assured, after these went off there would be absolutely nothing left of the Artillery Line or the three rooms that were in front of them, and the Assault Team would see a second phenomenal explosion take place on the third floor artillery line…!
An entity rose through the mansion. As it went through, some of those around could perhaps sense the Powerful Aura that the being was dragging along with it. Mariette was certainly keeping an eye on it.
Those in the map room could also see it, on the map. It was passing through the eastern side of the mansion, going from the basement, through the first and second floors, completely ignoring floors and walls as it passed. It carried a name.
Mikayla Synnot.
Probably just as Justine was about to make a move, an entity arose from the mansion to face her. Any onlookers could immediately recognize the brilliant transparent shining white of a spirit. Yet, something was different about this spirit. That is to say, the sheer magical power that emanated from it. The Powerful Aura, a sure tell for anyone in the know that this was the power of a Monster Girl. The spirit in question wore a long, white dress, long white hair flowing around her serene spectral body, white face, and every fabric of her glowing in power… and around her, willing or not, gathered the spirits of the recently deceased. Thralls of Justine or servants of Mariette, their souls sought instinctively to her side, joining a host of unseen spirits supporting the ethereal ghast floating before her.
The barely opened eyes of the woman locked onto Justine.
y o u a p p e a r t o h a v e t a k e n w e l l c a r e o f m y s u b o r d i n a t e s
The words simply appeared inside the mind of anyone looking in her general direction, but they were clearly intended for Justine.
o n l y f a i r I e x t e n d t o y o u t h e s a m e h o s p i t a l i t y
With that, spirits scattered from her body. Spirits wielding deadly weapons, glowing in ethereal might, surrounding their queen like a legion of protective and offensive force. They were reapers with scythes, armoured warriors with lances, shapes of magical girls with a variety of weapons. Numerous of these spirits opened fire, be it with spectral magic or bows or guns. At the same time, the ghost herself floated motionless, ready to intercept as she’d been told of Sonia’s ability to teleport. On Mariette’s request, she’d ensure Justine was unable to interfere for a while…
This whole area is an if-statement. Will only happen if Mariette manages to evacuate all player characters.
The whole army was gathered back here. When escaping, all portals went to different rooms to ensure that if one was compromised it’d limit the damage. After the immediate escape, new portals opened to funnel everyone to the same location. The surviving “lesser” magical girls, player characters, Asengav’s champions, various monsters summoned by Dina. Everyone.
Mariette, clutching her bunny, who for some reason was entirely black in colour, came through her own portal before everyone gathered. She took a deep breath, then spoke.
‘We have little time. The strongest of Asengav’s champions, the spectral Monster Girl known as Mikayla Synnot, is going to keep Justine busy for a bit. Before she’s done, we need to incapacitate the enemy Infiltration Squad. Using portals, I want us to attack them on all sides. They are currently in the foyer,’ Mariette said, holding up the map to show them on the first floor foyer, while they were currently located behind the library + study on the second floor, outside Mariette’s office.
‘A spooky black-haired one of them has the power to instill a wave of terror over a large area. Another likely disguised as Mariette or Eli is able to block all magic in the area. Beware,’ the information girl informed through the communicator, referring to what Connie did, and what Leena would be able to do.
‘Tell me your preferred method of attack and where you’d like to be placed, and then…’
@Majoras End Anything in particular you're thinking right now? I was considering my post, and realized there's been no post from you since last time I posted.
There were some cheers from various Dedennes as Aria took to the stage.
‘Pi-pi-pidove! Pidoooove!’ ‘A diva of the southern forest! A Jigglypuuuuuuff!’ sounded the Pidove. ‘Pi-DOVE!’ ‘And FIGHT!’
With the match having begun, Aria immediately began singing! Hawlucha, wary of the balloon Pokémon’s signature ability, immediately darted towards her before leaping into the air to avoid the immediate front of the singing Pokémon! Aria attempted to track after the leaping fighter, but the wrestling Pokémon was just too fast! He descended upon one of the four poles holding up the ring, bending his knees, preparing for a leaping tackle on Aria and-
and the pole broke.
‘Haw-!?’ Hawlucha cried out in alarm as the not-exactly-stellarly-made pole beneath him collapsed, the net snapping a bit around him as he descended prematurely into the floor. The pole, too, had been made from scavenged material by the Pokémon themselves, it appeared. Hawlucha collapsed onto the floor, slamming into it not by his own choice as his balance was shot on account of his footing collapsing under him, and then Aria was free to put him to sleep with a sweet lullaby.
Pidove had to momentarily relocate, having been sitting on the net on a side connected to said pole. Momentary break in announcements. After that, Hawlucha had the ill fortune of being asleep for the full three turns that are possible, letting Aria Defense Curl, making her already round form even rounder, somehow.
How many times exactly will she Defense Curl?
As soon as he wakes up, Hawlucha’s definitely going to charge directly at her for a Karate Chop/Wing Attack!
Basil and Lupin started going through the abandoned rooms. A Sneasel, indeed, was pretty good at getting through the darker rooms and could investigate with relative impunity. What could be interpreted from the various things, various magazines and various items, is that they were definitely big on contests around here. Still, there wasn’t that much useful around here, but Sneasel still managed to find one or several things that could maybe be of use.
Basil obtained Red Scarf! Basil obtained Blue Scarf! Basil obtained Fighting Gem! Basil obtained Rock Incense! Basil obtained 2 Potions! Basil obtained Pokéball! Basil obtained TM57 Charge Beam!
As for Pokémon, there was a lot of the same that can be obtained across Route 11. There were Budew that had their plants take over various rooms and enjoyed their time, often having brought in water for no apparent reason, causing floodings. There were Pidoves flying about a bit of everywhere and Zigzagoons making nests here and there in the buildings where they probably weren’t meant to, and the scratch-marks from their fur was everywhere.
Then there were rats. … Small, part-fairy part-electric rats.
Pokédex Entry #702 – Dedenne, the Antenna Pokémon. Through its tail it can connect to power outlets and other sources of electricity to absorb. The whiskers serve as antennas, which Dedenne can use to communicate with others of its kind over vast distances.
Mostly running out of sight and laying low before they could run off to Redcoast City to poach some electricity. Still, they gathered and looked kind of curiously at the strangers walking about on the compound.
Then, they entered a specific room…
Basil and Lupin entered a room, which had a mock ring built in the middle. There was human training equipment spread across the modestly large room. There was posters haphazardly attached to the walls, all depicting strong humans and Pokémon that had competed in boxing, wrestling, or battling. Everything looked modestly haphazard, the posters were attached by debris being rammed into the walls holding them in place rather than more elegant solutions. The battle “ring” in the middle consisted of a mix of scavenged rope and vegetation from the forest.
That… was when a Pidove jumped up onto the side of the net, and a spotlight lit down on it.
‘Pi! Pi-pidove! Pi, pipidove! Pidove!’ it made little noises, like if it was holding a speech. If one looked up, one could see that the “spotlight” was a flashlight held by a Dedenne sitting on an unlit ceiling lamp. A small crowd of Dedennes cheered from various hiding places in the room. ‘Pi, pipi! Pido, pidove, pidopi-DOVE!’ the bird called, and waved a wing towards a door on the other side.
‘Welcome, everyone, to today’s competition!’ called the bird, translated because Lupin could understand it. ‘One one side, our reigning champion! He’s the magnificent, the brilliant, the amazing HIM!’
Dedenne pointed the flashlight onto the door on the opposite side of the room. It swung open, and on the other side stood something in a cape. Said cape blew, because the entity was standing on the railing of a balcony with wind blowing past, it’s arms crossed and back turned towards the battle. Then, it jumped backwards! It made a backwards somersault, twice, before spinning in midair, skipping on the net of the ring once, feathers flying all over the place, as the dramatic Pokémon that looked like it was wearing a mask landed in the midst of the ring in a battle stance. It turned towards Basil, looking ready to fight.
‘Hawlucha…!’ it called in challenge. The Dedennes cheered.
Pokédex Entry #701 – Hawlucha, the Wrestling Pokémon. Although its body is small, its proficient fighting skills enable it to keep up with big bruisers like Machamp and Hariyama. With its wings, it controls its position in the air. It likes to attack from above, a maneuver that is difficult to defend against.
‘Pipipi, pidove…!’ the bird called, and the flashlight was turned to an empty section of the ring in front of the Hawlucha
‘And his challenger is…!’ sounded the Pidove’s translated announcement, and the eyes of every Dedenne in the room turned to Basil.
What would Basil and/or Lupin do now?

‘Palpa…!’ the Palpitoad blinked at Amelia about the idea that he might be washing away the Water Stone. He promptly stopped washing water everywhere, but regardless glared at the three trainers and called out at them. ‘Palpitoad!’
‘Wait, why must WE present our cases? If all three of us were occupied, why can’t mean that you weren’t-’ the Bug Catcher randomly started asking Amelia.
‘She wasn’t even on Route 2 at the time, blockhead,’ the Lass said, sighing a bit, and the Bug Catcher halted his accusation. ‘Okay, if we have to start somewhere, why don’t the one who found it missing start?’ she continued, looking towards the Backpacker.
‘Uuuuuh… I mean, if I must…’ the Backpacker said, looking somewhat worried for whatever reason.
Palpitoad looks at the inquizically... but encounters the problem that he's unable to question the witnesses himself. As all three of them are the suspects, the only one around he could turn to was Amelia. ‘Palpitoad!’ he tells to her, skips over, and gives her a small yellow stone.
‘So, the three of us are friends. We came to Route 2 together.’ ‘We came across the Water Stone, but Palpitoad protected it.’ ‘I went with Annica, and checked the waters for rare rocks while she set up camp.’ ‘I can confirm Annica was with me the entire time, until I left.’ ‘I did so to check on the Palpitoad and the Water Stone, and found both to be gone.’ ‘Nothing else of note happened.’
Leila submits her Pokémon, a Barboach, as evidence. She also submits her belongings.
‘I went to set up camp for us for later, because we were going to spend time here.’ ‘I didn't do much else, just watched Leila nearby by the waterside.’ ‘There was this odd earthquake out at the water at one point, maybe a different Palpitoad?’ ‘Leila eventually left towards the site where we found the Water Stone and Palpitoad.’ ‘It was shortly after that Palpitoad started washing over the route with water.’ ‘Anyways, I don't particularly have a reason to want a Water Stone.’
Annica submits her Pokémon, a Murkrow and a Fletchling, as evidence. She also submits her belongings.
‘Yeah, while those two were doing boring things, I went Pokémon hunting!’ ‘I was battling the wild Pokémon of Route 2 the entire time!’ ‘There was that weird earthquake at one time, and I saw Palpitoad depart to investigate.’ ‘So there was a time there when the Water Stone was unguarded.’ ‘… I was tempted. I would have wanted to gift Amy a Water Stone for her Staryu...’ ‘But I'm in no rush! I'll find her another one!’
Eric submits his Pokémon, a Surskit and a Ledyba, as evidence. He also submits his belongings.
… And now it was time for Amelia to cross-examine. Want to Press any of them for additional information on any point? Present evidence as to that they might be lying? If so, go ahead!
Attorney's Badge. … This is a Sun Stone.
Leila's Barboach. A healthy Barboach. Has inherited a bunch of moves from parents.
Leila's Belongings. Hiking equipment. A fishing rod. A ridiculous amount of peculiar rocks and stones. A diary with a ton of writing about wanting to compete in contests.
Annica's Murkrow. A healthy Murkrow. Looks pleased with itself.
Annica's Fletchling. A slightly damaged Fletchling. Looks a bit nervous.
Annica's Belongings. A couple Pokéballs and Potions. A phone. The wrapped-up-in-a-hurry remains of the tent they were going to camp in. A pair of tickets for a ferry from Pureplain City to Sunyshore City.
Eric's Surskit. A damaged Surskit. Still pretty peppy.
Eric's Ledyba. A damaged Ledyba. It's suffered a Burn.
Eric's Belongings. Bug catcher net and cage. Bunches of Pokéballs and Potions and Repells and anything else a good Pokémon Trainer needs. A photo of a young girl together with Annica.
Or she could leave. That, too. If so, here.

‘Eh… We’re… not exactly friends, I just happen to know who he is…’ Vivia said, and eventually decided to hang along with Skylar on the way. Still would have been cool to perhaps talk with Dawkin about what had been going on, but he was heading off somewhere so maybe not.
Skylar went to the Pokémart, that despite the kinda desert setting looked exactly the same.
Go-Goggles was 1,200P. 10 Great Balls is 6,000P. Minus 7,200P.
Then, they headed off to the Stone Store, a rather big and crowded enough place. It was one of those things that brought outsiders to Raremine Town, after all. The walls were yellow, like they wanted to inspire gold and riches, combined with red carpets and rocks hanging around on pedestals where people could inspect and decide if they wanted to buy them or not. Anyways, here’s the available stuff.

‘Awfully pricy, some of these stones, aren’t they? Not to mention they don’t have everything. The things they have available vary from day to day, they don’t know what they’ll mine. But you know, you could go to the Desert Mines and dig some up yourself! Then you’d get them for free, AND you could find things they don’t even have! Isn’t that cool?’
What will he do next?
Raremine Town
no cat-eared girls here, sorry
Raremine Town is a moderately large, bright town on the edge of the only desert in Isson. By some twist, the largest mineral deposits in the land is located right under the desert, making it an attractive place to build mines. From that, Raremine Town naturally sprung into being as a merchant town on the edge of habitability from where the mineral could then be delivered to the rest of Isson. The temperature is hot, sun blazing down on this land where plains slowly become desert, the atmosphere dry and unfriendly… yet, life and trees blossoms among the buildings of Raremine Town.
The ground is still the grass from the Vast Plains, with buildings on top of them. The modern houses stand tall with plenty of architectural skill put into them, tools for building and living sold inside the houses. Everywhere, one can see workers walking about, but they’re happy workers, with their families living close at hand in the town and with the finest equipment available. Oh, and of course, plenty of Pokémon that assist with the finding of ores and such! The trees, which appear to have been planted and grown all over town by the residents themselves, gives plenty of homes for local Pokémon to live.
Overall, it’s busy, with people walking and talking all over, an active town indeed.
1. Find Pokémon. Can still search for Pokémon in cities~ 2. Talk. In cities, there are considerably more people one can talk to. Talking can give you info on local rumors and such. 3. Exit. Exit the town to any of the connected areas. 4. Specify. If you specify what you want to do, the GM will take it into account and tell the result. 5. Trigger random event. Force the GM to use his imagination to make a scenario for you. 6. Notable Places. Visit any of the places in the city! 6.1. Pokémon Center. Heal all your Pokémon. 6.2. PokéMart. Go to a store and buy things. 6.3. Pokémon Gym. ??? 6.4. Desert Miner’s Hangout. The workers of the Desert Mine live around here. They can give tips about the desert! 6.5. Research Lab. For archaeologists, those who want to talk to Dunstan and those who want to resurrect fossils. 6.6. Stone Store. Where all the stones of the Desert Mines or Frozen Cave eventually end up! Lots of evolutionary and other kinds of stones! 6.7. Bug Garden. A garden within which bugs thrive. Vivillons can be hired here for tracking down the Mythic Oasis! 6.8. Warehouses. Because the things they mine here needs somewhere to be stored. This includes Ancient Pokémon, apparently, as some of the warehouses are pens. 6.9. Familiar Faces: Dawkin. Currently visiting the lab.
Connected areas: Route 6. The Vast Plains open up to the north of Raremine. The shorter paths lead to Route 8 and 16, while west far enough leads to Lakewatch Town. Route 7. The single rocky desert of Isson, it connects to the Desert Mines, the Old Tombs and to the Mythic Oasis.
Nature was indeed starting to reclaim what had been lost, as multiple Pokémon on the route had started nesting inside the area of the abandoned buildings, a couple Blitzles running away as he came close. There was a bunch of Zigzagoons as well, their heads popping up here and there. Still, Basil ignored those and went up to the tallest building that he could find. It wasn’t hard, and he found most doors to be open. Assuming he was fine with climbing an abandoned, unlit staircase he eventually found his way to the roof, able to gaze across the area, see across the buildings, and…
There. On the south side of the route, barely touching the edge of Silent Forest (not where he came out, of course), was something that definitely stood out as out of place.
If he went there…
Abandoned Shrine
So. There’s a shrine, standing on the edge between the abandoned buildings in the southern area of Route 11 and the Silent Forest further south. It’s positively tiny, and despite the markings all over around it. A few Chinglings jumped about, just looking happy and not minding anything at all, making their little ringing sound as they did.
Pokédex Entry #433 – Chingling, the Bell Pokémon. An orb in the back of its throat chimes each time it jumps, making a ringing sound. When endangered it defends itself by emitting deafening high-frequency cries. When it starts crying, it’s hard to make it stop.
Inside the tiny shrine was a podium. On top of the podium stood a strange mirror. It was adorned with an odd frame that had varying colors adorning it. As for what it was or what it was doing here, there were no particular answers for.
So, that’s what was here, as far as Basil could tell. What would he do, here?
And if he didn’t want to do that, what would he do next?

A bright, glowing flash originating from Dawkin’s encouragement enveloped the little yellow critter, and…!
Pichu evolved into Pikachu!
Pokédex Entry #25 – Pikachu, the Mouse Pokémon. It stores electricity in sacks inside its cheeks, which it unleashes if threatened. They live in forests, and use their electricity to roast berries. It monitors its surroundings by raising it tail and sensing electricity. If multiple Pikachu gather up, their power increases.
Because missing out on moves because you weren’t a Pikachu at that level makes no sense.
New Pokémon evolved! Dawkin earned 1500 P!
And that was that. Afterwards, some of the remaining audience congratulated him on his victory as well as Pikachu on his evolution, and asked if he was alright. Assuming everything was fine, Dawkin then took this weird vial he’d found and brought it to the Pokémon lab.
He found Dunstan sitting at his table, examining a couple samples. He blinked a bit as Dawkin showed up into this decently dark lab lit only by the green samples around here.
‘You’re back sooner than I expected. What are you…’ Dunstan started, then his eyes went to the vial, containing something that looked blue compared to the green all around Dunstan’s lab.
This was the first time Dawkin saw Dunstan with wide-open eyes.
Then it was like the professor had used the Pokémon move Snatch, because all of a sudden Dawkin wasn’t holding the vial anymore. Dunstan spilled some of the contents of the vial on a tiny glass platter, put it under a microscope, and peeked down at it.
‘These… are cells,’ Dunstan said. ‘Pokémon cells. But… that’s…’ He then grabbed a different machine and directed it at the sample, frowning as he was getting data to his computer, which was saying things that Dawkin couldn’t possibly interpret.
‘These should be long dead. They’re far too old to have survived on their own. They’re from a multitude of different Pokémon, yet the ones in the middle…’ he said and then looked over into the telescope once again.
‘… Are shimmering in varying colours, and as I look at them, it feels like I’m-’ Dunstan suddenly tore himself from the microscope. He lifted his glasses, placed them back in front of his eyes, then lifted them again. He blinked a couple of times.
‘… The cells are keeping the other cells alive. Healing cells. Cells of the life-giving Pokémon…’ he said, breathing out heavily as he lifted up the vial of blue once again, staring at it. Eventually, having taken his samples, he hands the vial back to Dawkin.
‘Where did you get this?’ he asked, utterly serious.
If he feels like it afterwards, Dawkin can head off to do other things.

When Alicia gave her reply, “not until you let them go”, Mariette sighed slightly inside her room, unheard by the infiltration team but noticed by anyone still in Mariette’s office.
‘That is no longer within my power to do,’ she gave as a short reply, and then continued with her introduction of the Void Room.
Alicia flew into the air, barraging downwards at the foes available to her. However, as she rose into the air she found herself beset by limbs stretching for her from above as well as below, seeking to catch and crunch her between the two swarms. It became the same for Amalthea flying with Anaya, as they found tentacles coming out of the ceiling predicting their next location to grab them as they flew.
When Tenebra and Sonia opened a portal to slightly outside the Void Room that materialized in the wall, the tentacles seemed to realize what that was instantly. As soon as the gateway opened, an eruption of hands and tentacles shot out of portals in the wall around the portal to prevent the escape of the individuals involved, closing around the portal and thickening to keep them out. Meanwhile, sharp, pointy, hardened tentacles launched out of the floor from varying angles trying to skewer Tenebra and Sonia, having realized that they had the means to take their offering away from them. But, assumingly the group supplied teleportation or enough firepower to break through to the portal on the wall. Still, a stream of tentacles emerged from trying to stab and grab and injure any trying to escape their grasp.
As Morgan’s ice prevented tentacles from sneaking around Ronin’s barrier, a heavy, larger tentacle suddenly slammed out of the floor and shattered Ronin’s barrier from below, dropping anyone on top of it and making the girl yelp and had to create a bar above herself to grab to prevent herself from falling into the wide portal that had formed right underneath. However, assumingly something happened to rescue those who’d fall as they were then brought along with the rest to safety.
Numerous other tentacles and hands reached and attempted to grip the various spirits Anaya had around… though, spirits being somewhat incorporeal made that a challenge. Regardless, Elaine would find that there wasn’t much of a reply to her yell, and while she and Blake cut numerous tentacles, there were always more sliding out to snap around limbs or tried to grip their weapons.
Otherwise Ari’s post covers the events here decently accurately.
Basement Corridor - Infiltration Team
They got out, ending up in a dark corridor, nobody walking through these corridors meant they didn’t have to be well-lit. They probably had to close that portal immediately, or they’d find the tentacles would reach in behind them to grab them.
So, they entered the tiny 90 degree turn in Mariette’s basement…
and sudden hail of weak Light-element magical bullets immediately came flying at them, battering harshly into whatever defenses had been placed in the way.
Turns out this particular corridor had tiny energy-guns operated into the walls set to turn and fire at any key-less individual noticed within the area, one at every intersection and corner. They were operated into the walls at floor and ceiling level to immediately shoot down Sonia should she dare to appear within these corridors, and now they fired on them. This included one right behind them at short range, because Mariette didn’t know where their enemies would show up. To avoid most the shots, get out-of-sight of the long corridor and deal with the two sentries in the tiny south-going corridor.
‘Woa-!’ Ronin immediately raised her tiny barrier to block what shots she could, but she doesn’t have the Mag-stat to block all of this, somebody help her. What she could do, is spin and slice with her sword to take out the sentry in the corner, stabbing into the bullet-hole to ruin the mechanics. ‘Splitting up is dangerous, Mariette has portals and can ambush any team she figures she can beat, hah,’ Ronin reminds, but perhaps it’s for the best. Otherwise, she’s fine with whatever split she’s asked to do.
So, Ronin had a key. She’d sort of figured maybe she’d be safe from traps. But seeing how these turrets were firing at her, guess it was deactivated already. Should have figured. Hahaha…

Mariette nodded to Su, Trixy and Eliza departing, keeping some portals in corners watching over them so that she wouldn’t lose them somehow.
Mariette listened to Dina summoning her kobolds and faeries, and a couple minotaurs… ‘Esther,’ Mariette said into her communicator. ‘Create small tunnels in the walls for our kobolds and fairies to transport themselves through the mansion.’
There was some noise as the mansion itself readjusted itself. Wood moved, some corridors and rooms got the slightest smaller, as tiny corridors with openings were created for the kobolds to run through and create traps inside of. Esther made the openings slide open a bit by Mariette’s office, so they could enter them and explore from there.
‘We need all the allies we can get. Josefin, get over here and provide Dina with some excess mana,’ Mariette said, and…
‘Will do! I’m here!’ Josefin said, skipping out of a portal to Dina, holding out a hand for her. ‘A fresh dose of mana, coming right up!’ she said, and if let to touch Dina she’d feel a surge of mana from a different girl flow into her, allowing her to do that extra summon if so required. While she was here, Josefin also put a hand on Mariette and recharged some of what had been used in the battle so far, and then Josefin skipped away back to the firing line.
Mariette was still fighting as she listened to Silhouette’s words, nodding to her. ‘Thank you. That makes me feel safer. Still, you’re not alone,’ Mariette said, and took a brief moment to lift something up on her deck. It was Bunny, the stuffed animal, except he was coloured all black. ‘Bunny has put on his war-colours. He will protect me, too. I’m safe as long as he’s here,’ Mariette said, lifting Bunny up and squeezing him against her chest. Because this would definitely make a difference.
That aside. Mariette was getting a bit concerned with the outdoors. Su was whipping up a storm on the outside, which was making her concerned that their enemies might somehow make as short a work of her as they were making of Mariette’s monsters.
She wouldn’t let it happen.

‘Waaaaaaaaa~!’ Mayra made a happy noise as she got herself shocked, but otherwise just laughed about it and kept on what she was doing. So, when Lily said it was alright, Mayra just grinned, and then momentarily clapped a dragonic hand on her shoulder. ‘You’re alright! We should fight later!’
‘Hm,’ Suzette nodded to them, but still kept ready…
Meanwhile, Eliza said her piece to the communicator, and it replied.
‘Copy that. Start a sentence with “everyone”, and I’ll patch you through to everyone. Speaking of which,’ information girl said, and then spoke to everyone.
‘Everyone. A powerful team of twelve Magical Girls led by Alicia has appeared in our basement. The team includes Sonia, making them able to teleport,’ everyone’s communicators told them. ‘Be advised that if they take the stairs up, they’ll arrive in the foyer. Some of them are disguised as Mariette and Eli currently, their forms may change.’
‘One of them is probably Leena,’ Mariette followed up, also through communicator. It didn’t make sense for them to attack known magical menace Mariette without bringing their anti-magic girl. That probably made another FanFan, they were rarely apart, but FanFan wasn’t a fraction as important. ‘Be aware that she can manifest a field within which magic doesn’t work. Be careful.’
Besides that, this all wasn’t having at all as much impact as Mariette wanted. There was also the threat of opening more portals just let Justine attack more of her girls. It was time for a change in strategy.
‘Th-thank you,’ Alexander got as a confused reply from one of the girls he saved as she was helped up to her feet. She wasted no time getting back into the firing line. He then proceeded to put forcefields on people, which helped Mariette come to her next decision.
Ronja, ever the arachne, stood with protective barriers while using two unoccupied legs to shoot a spider-web to reign in one of the wounded girls, healed her, and then undid the web to kick her back into line. Eli also helped with the healing, because that’s what she does, and now for the plan.
Two portals opened, one linking the 2nd floor top of the foyer where Eliza and Lily was directly to the 3rd floor Artillery Line.
From the other one…
Three girls excited from a snow-covered Monster Room, because the Infiltration Team had showed up in the corridor right outside and they needed to move, Lea and Tullia still holding the Bifrost Staff that was causing the blizzard outside. Tullia looked a bit strained, having maintained a massive blizzard with her mana, while Lea didn’t look particularly worse for wear. Then there was just Victoria grinning and giving everyone a wave.
‘We’re dropping the blizzard! Everyone who can, get to the Artillery Line and prepare to fire out the windows! You can return to the foyer with my portals after! Movement is our advantage!’ Mariette called, and Suzette and Mayra didn’t have to be told twice. Suzette jumped on what appeared to be a yellow board of magic and swooped through the portal to the Artillery Line, while Mayra grinned, already summoning a fireball as she dashed in through the same portal up to the windows that were lining up the Artillery Line-side.
‘What are you talking about!? These are the best of circumstances! I’m so happy we get to fight again!’ the Victoria clone replied to Aurelio with a laugh before being shot by a lucky shot by Sally despite having tried to jump back into the snow before being attacked. But still, the rest of the Victorias shared her sentiment.
So, through conflict that has already been described in Ari’s post, the assault team otherwise fought their way through wolves, Victoria clones and also the sudden appearance of the massive Remorhaz, decently without particularly great problems and just a couple of casualties, probably the majority coming from Justine sacrificing girls to trigger traps, honestly. There were still fiery and psychic traps waiting around in the snow, for those unwary and stepping into unknown snow.
As they thought they were arriving at the front door, however, Su summoned the tornado Feilian and blocked the way, crossing forward at their numbers. However, whatever their reactions, they’d suddenly find that the massive blizzard was dying down, vision improving…
Among the 32 remaining kidnapped girls Mariette had, 21 had ranged capabilities. Of them, 8 were magic focused, 8 held ranged weapons, and the remaining 5 were balanced girls that supplemented physical ability with ranged magic. Of the 11 remaining girls not among those, there were 7 physically powerful girls incapable of range, two support girls with Reinforcement, one magically powerful Dark magic assassin that was currently useless, and a magically powerful Beast girl who probably just held back a couple of wolves for now.
The vast majority of the ranged girls were now pointing their guns, bows, magic staffs and charged spells at the enemy force that was probably somewhat scattered by Feilian, and at decently close range because they’d been fighting to get to the mansion.
‘Fire.’
A volley of lightning, fire, metal, ice and light came shooting at the assault team, in addition to some sound-blasts, some psychic shots and one girl with an empathic spec. Joining them was arrows and bullets, even Eli joining in having turned her arms into rifles to shoot at the incoming enemy.
Having dropped the blizzard, while gasping for breath a bit the resident Ice Beam shooter Tullia pointed forth her Bifrost Staff to join in, firing a blast of ice straight for Hyun Long. Suzette had recently joined the line, so with a little chuckle she revelled in the feelings of tension before blasting a ray of power directly for Sakura’s captured Remorhaz, that by the way should be burning her pretty badly due to the monster’s extremely high skin-temperature. Mayra’s going to throw her fireballs at whatever’s closest, albeit she’d be told that the Remorhaz is immune to fire so perhaps not that one.
While all that firepower was going, Mariette simply had to rely on Alex, Hilaria and Ronja to minimize the enemy firepower striking them in return.
Meanwhile, inside.
‘Lea, prepare to help save Su and Helga should things go wrong,’ Mariette asked the elfin monster girl, just as Josefin had skipped to them to recharge her and Tullia’s mana a bit by grabbing their arms, after they’d used a significant portion making a blizzard.
‘I remind that my survival is more important than-’ Lea started saying, but Mariette interrupted her with a very simple…
‘Please,’ Mariette asked, before opening a portal to the roof again, a place easier for Lea to reach Su and Helga from without taking fire. Lea gave Mariette an analytical stare, before simply complying by flying out through the portal and then kept a specific distance from the tornado below.
… Why, of course someone saw her tiny, spherical bomb travelling through a howling blizzard made to hamper sight and managed to easily intercept it with a single throwaway lightning bolt. That makes perfect sense.
Assuming you’re Taihei, anyway.
Regardless, seemed like the time had come to simply throw projectiles at the enemy. Taihei would do her part. So, she used her gravity speciality to attract to herself some weapons she’d made specifically for that particular specialization. They were large, heavy lances, long and far too heavy to simply cast aside once thrown. They were basically artillery, and would provide more firepower than most the girls in the Artillery Line.
‘They’re just hunks of magically heavy metal. How could I be unlucky with these?’ she asked, obviously rhetorically on account she knew all kinds of things could go wrong. Regardless, she summoned her gravity magic, held up a monstrous hand forward, and sent a couple giant metal lances flying at the assault forces, targeting the largest masses. Just some giant flying metal lances to thin out the numbers a bit. The storm shouldn’t prevent their flight excessively.
[same as above]
???
Inside a small room with a bunch of screens, a girl was sitting clicking buttons to make cameras display across the mansion. A view showed her that the infiltration team had just entered the basement corridor and were currently being subjected to the sentries she’d had installed there. Wonder if they enjoyed the little taste? That was tech from a different world, more technologically advanced than this one, that she’d been bringing over with her Supplier perk. Very much fun for them to experience, her little automatic turrets. They were, of course, only the first thing they’d have to deal with.
On a different screen, though, she’d been receiving a warning. The phone she’d made for Mariette was saying it was being tracked. She’d taken the time to pinpoint where exactly it was being tracked from, because it could be that it was the technology girl they knew Beacon had, Elora… but unless the relations between the monsters and Beacon were much closer than previously thought, the source being within the Sanctuary seemed to strike contrary to such a claim. Still, the new monster queen had Beacon ties. Best block it to be safe. She absently clicked a couple buttons, and…
@Shifter_Master Penny’d find that her system’s could suddenly no longer find Mariette’s phone.
… She was absently listening in on the conversations of the Infiltration Team…
Oh? Were they splitting up? Sounded like fun. She flexed her fingers a bit and brought up the list of traps she could trigger from this room.
Where would they go? What traps would she trigger on them?
Time would tell.
2nd Floor - Mariette’s Office
All in all… it was looking worse than she’d hoped. She hadn’t imagined Beacon would show up, too. That team in the basement was uncomfortably powerful. There seemed like little would stop the assaulting group ahead of them.
Guess there was little choice. She’d hoped to avoid calling her, but if she was going to call her anyway, it made sense to do it as early as possible. Besides glancing with a bit of unsurety at those still in her office, she opened a small portal in front of her mouth to speak.
‘This is Mariette. It seems I’ll need your help, after all. Be ready, I’ll open the path.’
A slight shiver went through her as she focused her power through the Black Mirror, which was located somewhere completely different in the mansion, in order to summon a specific entity…
