Bio

I'm Randomness. I also go by others names when it's unavailable, but those are usually some variation of Randomness or Random in general.

I like anime, video games, and science. I'm currently in school studying to become an radiologic technologist. I'm in the initial stages, so I'm on my way. My favorite anime is Eureka Seven, and my favorite video game is a tie between Kingdom Hearts and Etrian Odyssey.

I have several story ideas, but currently lack motivation to write them out. I have plenty of notes for some of them so when I finally get around I'm prepared. That said, I absolutely enjoy group story telling like you do through role playing. One of my interests involved is world building and the connections between them if any.

One of my characters travels between worlds, dimensions and universes. What these are meant to be are different RPs. There seems to be some taboo around such a character, but I feel that is should be judged on a case by case basis. The idea of a seasoned character who has been on many adventures being able to share stories in passing sounds like a fun idea. I thought it would be an interesting idea that those stories could be from other RPs. He isn't meant to highjack the current RP, or be over powered. I admit, I can see that concern. Really though, he is meant to be an eccentric character with stories and treasures not before seen. The effects of these stories are meant to be entertaining, like fairy tales to the current cast. And what treasures he has or can use I'd restrict to what makes sense in the current world. But like I said before, it should be case by case. A learner, and a story teller. I think it's fun to link concept together through this character so the story could live on in new ways and perhaps give new RPs a different kind of character. Without upending everything of course.

At this point, I'm going to give up trying to make a character for this RP. After three attempts and zero communication it's like I'm just not wanted as a participant.

Perhaps another time during another RP.

I still don’t think anti magic a bad thing. It’s something to work around. If direct magical combat and/or abilities is all anyone has, then it’s just a competition of who has the stronger spells. There are a large diversity of characters here, I wouldn’t think anti magic to be that much of an issue.

That aside, Ven was made to have something on the unique side in terms of capability while trying to tame power. From a backstory perspective I do agree there isn’t much reason for a letter. However, I question why Ven would be denied on skill. He can shoot elementally charged arrows with a high rate of accuracy at will. He can even modify them externally which could play into character interaction. Compared to ice armor granting sword strategist, and a skilled swordsman with a blood cursed blade, he’d seem to fit in power-wise.

Frankly, I’m not sure what you want.
Character one: Denied due to laws of the land
Character two: Denied due to ability being too powerful for the story.
Character three: Currently attempting...

Warning: Long Backstory

@Raineh Daze

I can see your point. I don't want to completely shut out magic with his interactions. I want to make it hard to use it effectively against him while making him worthy as a person the desparate people of the Silver Sun would call upon. This way seemed like a good fit that could use story telling as well as mechanics to deal with. I have thought of several ways you could counter him while still using magic. The armor would protect him from direct magic, meaning magic attacks, or nullify enchantments at the time of impact without removing them entirely. However, if you were to throw a rock at him propelled by magic, or if you set a field on fire (normal fire anyway), or if you broke the ground underneath him then the armor would be much less effective. He is also still susceptible to other environmental changes such as heat, cold, dust, fog, etc.

Using magical fire as an example: Lets say this magic fire cannot be extinguished, burns really hot, and will stick to anything. The armor would protect him from being burned by it if use directly against him, extinguish if thrown against him, and he would probably feel little heat. However, if the fire is use around him like as a deterrent, or trap him in a room and that is set on fire using it, then he would not be able to put it out, it'd continue to burn even if he stepped on it, the armor taking any damage that might have caused, and he would feel the heat put out by the flames. He would not be burned by touching the fire, he'd be burned because he is really close to a heat source.

EDIT: reworded part of first Paragraph.
@VitaVitaAR

The point of the armor is to stop magic from being used against him. All other forms of combat will work. It increases the characters survivability, yes, but it’s not impenetrable or indestructible. In the backstory it appears that way because he was facing against opponents who weren’t equipped with like-powered magical equipment.

The main inspiration was to have a character that magic would not work against. The buffs provided are temporary, and dissipate when the fighting is done if there was any fighting. Otherwise, he’s just not affected by magic. The initial boost the armor provides is there to put him a step above your standard knight in armor.

I see it story-wise as at first potential opponents see how strong he can be when magic is used against him and as the story unfolds, start to either come up with other strategies without magic or use more martial challengers.

If you have any suggestions to make the character more acceptable, I'll see what I can do. I mainly want a character that punishes opponents that think only using magic as their “be all, end all” strategy. At the same time, I don’t want him to suffer from the common “I’ll overload him” trope. Theoretically, he is only as strong as the magic used against him. If there is a way we can compromise, I would be appreciative.
Alright, Attempt number two.

Warning: Long Back story.

Fair enough. I’ll probably come up with something new.
So, I have a world hopper character that I like to bring from RP to RP. I'm kinda hoping that that would be okay. Here is the character

I understand if you'd prefer something a little more original, but I like this character and perhaps he might be able to go a little more all out than in the last few RPs he's been in.
Ah alright. Thanks. I’m thinking of making a character. Will post soon.
Not exactly what I meant. I was more asking to what extent can these other worlds be?
Like could I make a character that has traveled through time? Or one that has come from a world that exists in another dimension?
