I'm Randomness. I also go by others names when it's unavailable, but those are usually some variation of Randomness or Random in general.
I like anime, video games, and science. I'm currently in school studying to become an radiologic technologist. I'm in the initial stages, so I'm on my way. My favorite anime is Eureka Seven, and my favorite video game is a tie between Kingdom Hearts and Etrian Odyssey.
I have several story ideas, but currently lack motivation to write them out. I have plenty of notes for some of them so when I finally get around I'm prepared. That said, I absolutely enjoy group story telling like you do through role playing. One of my interests involved is world building and the connections between them if any.
One of my characters travels between worlds, dimensions and universes. What these are meant to be are different RPs. There seems to be some taboo around such a character, but I feel that is should be judged on a case by case basis. The idea of a seasoned character who has been on many adventures being able to share stories in passing sounds like a fun idea. I thought it would be an interesting idea that those stories could be from other RPs. He isn't meant to highjack the current RP, or be over powered. I admit, I can see that concern. Really though, he is meant to be an eccentric character with stories and treasures not before seen. The effects of these stories are meant to be entertaining, like fairy tales to the current cast. And what treasures he has or can use I'd restrict to what makes sense in the current world. But like I said before, it should be case by case. A learner, and a story teller. I think it's fun to link concept together through this character so the story could live on in new ways and perhaps give new RPs a different kind of character. Without upending everything of course.
Appearance: Penny stands about 5’4” tall and weighs around 95 lbs. She has shoulder length hair colored light brown. She has amber colored eyes. Her hair is pushed around tufts of feathers that pokes from the top of either side of her hair reminiscent of owl ear tufts. She has a thin frame where it doesn’t look like she has much muscle mass but she is not frail. She has pale skin. She does not have any tattoos or piercings. She wears simple silver or gold chains around her neck. She wears modest female attire usually short or long sleave blouses, skirt and leggings, and flats. Despite that, she is not picky and has no problem changing into combat attire or wearing boots. She prefers them to all be light weight though.
Personality: She is a very shy person, who has a hard time communicating with others. Despite that she has a very kind heart and is willing to help anyone in need. She is a follower and not a leader. If given a leadership position she will become flustered. She tries her hardest with any task given, and like the Sunderers and what they do to protect. She has a fear of talking with others, and will often try to speak up, but will stop herself. To compensate for that as well as help her with other tasks, she has a floating metallic ball no bigger than a base ball called Gyro. Gyro speaks in Penny’s stead, linked by a neural connection via a pair of ear buds. It has limited artificial intelligence where it speaks for someone rather than speak as someone as well as come up with ideas. It does not make its own decisions, nor act against Penny’s wishes.
Backstory: Penny was the youngest of three kids. She had an older brother named Timothy and an older sister named Madeline. Her father, named Henry, worked as a small-time gun smith with a contract from the Sunderers. He didn’t mass produce the weaponry but rather he was allowed limited access to recovered technology to invent new weaponry to see their effectiveness against the robots. He worked hard and was able to be a supplier for sunderer fire arms. His work had a more traditional aspect of fire arms, but he had a certain touch when it came to incorporating sunderers powers into the weapons so that they complimented each other.
Penny’s older sister, Madeline, grew up and joined the Sunderers, while her brother, Timothy, decided to study under Henry and to carry on the business. Penny from birth was always wary of other people, even her own family. Though she was able to get over her fear with the help of her family, she maintained a dislike for actually communicating. So that is when Henry gave her Gyro. It was a bulky tank on treads the size of a dishwasher, but its presence helped her socialize with others. At least the ones who weren’t scared, or put off by the large machine following her.
After about a decade, Gyro was redesigned, Penny started working around the shop, Madeline was rising the ranks, and Timothy was still learning engineering. Penny didn’t interact with customers, or the Sunderers as she worked around the shop. She mainly helped clean the floor and equipment. She didn’t like the business aspect of the work, but she loved testing out her father’s newest creations, at least within reason. More often than not, she was testing Timothy’s which failed half the time. With so much practice, she was becoming the golden standard for a weapon’s condition around the shop.
Penny was incredibly close with Madeline. Whenever Madeline got to come home on leave, break, whatever reason she was allowed to, they would spend hours talking about her adventures. Penny thought about joining them at one point, but she knew how own fear of other people would hold her back and most likely disqualify her. Madeline would always bring it up, even saying they could work together, but Penny would back away. Madeline teased for it constantly, and was the only person Penny didn’t mind it coming from.
When news came back that Madeline was killed fighting one of the weirder robots, it struck Penny the hardest. For days, she was locked in her room. Nothing Henry or Timothy could do could not get her to come out. After about a month of spending most of her time in her room, she came out. She told her father and Timothy that she was going to join the Sunderers. At first, they thought she was still grieving, not thinking it was a good idea, but Penny remained adamant. It was the first either of them saw Penny be so determined. Henry stood from the table and set to work.
Once the time came to submit her application, she followed through. As she waited to hear word back, her father presented her with a custom rifle. Despite being made with lighter weight materials, it still had some heft. The receiver was specially designed for Penny’s projections. He told her that he had designed Madeline’s weapon, and he would be damned if he also did not design Penny’s. It was more than just wanting revenge for her sister. Penny wanted to join the Sunderers so that she could do more to protect those she loved.
Powers: She has the power of energy projection which she can use offensively or defensively. All energy projects are transparent with a lime green tint.
She can create forcefields around herself and others if they are close enough. She can adjust the size, shape, and density of the shields. She can use the energy from her projections to power her equipment so that she can change trajectory, density, number, and shape of her projectiles.
Durability and power associated with the above depends on structure, density, and Penny’s mental fortitude.
She has exceptional eye sight and hearing. She can see and hear things at a distance most people may not notice. As a result of that, she generally has to turn her head to focus rather than move her eyes. To deal with her sensitive hearing, she has ear buds that help soften sounds that also connect directly with Gyro.
Equipment: FMX Furor Custom. A sniper rifle designed to embrace and enhance the energy projections Penny puts into it. Built light weight, with durable casing, it can take the power like a cannon, and allow for easy set up. It is designed to help Penny focus her energy into long range projectiles of varying shapes and uses.
Additional info: - Gyro speaks with a low male voice, since it’s at a frequency that does not bother Penny. - Gyro is a floating ball with an indent at the front for a glass blue eye. It has a telescopic eye sight, and decent hearing akin to Penny. It has two retractable wire like appendages that can connect with civilian computer systems (like a USB). It can’t read computers this way, just turns himself into an operator like any other user. - She can barely move her eyes, so when spoken to or is speaking, she will face the person directly. - Penny’s mother died shortly after Penny’s birth due to complications. She didn’t know her.
@AlternateManI know it’s not. I apologize if I gave the impression I was going to treat it like it was.
I was going to treat it like a mana/stamina sort of thing. The more she uses it the more she’ll wear herself out. Also she cannot expend all her energy at once. Shields are easy. It’s just making a wall. Walls don’t move, but she has to use energy to maintain it. Projectiles are harder since she has to make it and then exert enough energy to ‘throw’ it. The gun helps with the throwing part. So the more rested she is, the longer she can fight. As for what that limit is, I don’t know yet. I don’t want to make her over or under powered during whatever is considered an average or even a learning battle.
@AlternateManStrangely enough, Outside of that gif that won’t embed there aren’t many pictures of it. Chika is a sniper who’s natural energy (which exists in living beings and powers all the weapons in World trigger) is plentiful enough to turn the rifle into a rail gun. The anime also lets people customize their ammunition which is also why I mentioned it.
But yeah, that’s the gist if it.
If it’s fine, you want more, or you want less, let me know.
I have a clear limit to the effects in mind, but I'm not quite sure how to voice it. If you're familiar with the anime World Trigger. A powered down version of Chika in terms of her projectiles. As for shapes, I was thinking mainly between small armor piercing for thicker armor, weaker barrage as the bullet splits up, a standard sniper round, and a slow beam with little penetrating power but large damage. The time between shots would also be slower than the faster swinging speeds of her allies.
As for the shields, I imagine a one meter by one meter cube. The denser that cube, the stronger it is. Inversely the more she spreads it out, the less it can block against. Ideally she could defend against artillery's shells with it when it takes a direct hit protecting against only one direction if that makes sense.
It might also help to explain that she can only do one or the other. Trying to split them between fire power and shields would leave both less than effective.

Half tempted to make a male character and start a harem.
I'll make a preliminary sheet, but I won't post it until more details are posted. It sounds like they might be important enough to influence my character.
Lance took a step back as Axel equipped himself. He seemed bothered by the broken record of questions, but Lance couldn’t do anything about that. Usually the doors do not suddenly remove themselves the solid frames that house each of the children. It was muffled, but there was a commotion on the other side of the barrier, and Axel looked ready to tackle it head on. Perhaps his annoyance of answering the same question spurred a want to fight.
With only ten seconds to make a decision, Lance started back towards his unsealed room. It was one thing to for Alex to cause trouble. While Lance had not known him personally, he knew of the antics he was capable of. This seemed a bit more on the extreme side. Lance knew not to piss off the guards, the staff, the doctors, whoever really. They took their work seriously, and Lance could not help but feel powerless. What was he going to do? He couldn’t stop the guards, and he certainly couldn’t stop Axel.
“This is a bad idea.” Lance said, using his eyes to try and urge the others to also retreat to their rooms. It didn’t work as most if not all of the attention was on Axel and his barricade. He yelled and then punched the wall, penetrating the amalgam of metal clean through. It didn’t take much more than Kitty to tell him the guards were ready to fight.
“I told you this was a bad idea.” Said Lance as he quickly turned and ducked back into his room. He looked out to see that guards were starting to break through. Lance didn’t want to be a part of that fight. Axel made this mess; he should have to deal with it. Lance was sorry that he couldn’t do more to help the others though. Not that they needed his help, but he was afraid they would sink with the same ship Axel was sailing.
