Grikgar /Grik/ Seeker

// Unggoy Ultra // Demolitions and Artillery // Location: Planets Surface

Grik shrugged when given the order to split up into groups and looked around. They were currently in cover but he could only assume splitting up their larger group would work to their advantage. Looking to Ben, Grik pointed at him and shrugged again keeping chatter to a minimum was normally his go to when on mission. Moving closer to the Spartan the Unggoy motioned towards his blade then his pistol. The grunt was sure to follow the Spartan with whatever he decided to do. "Grikgar shadow." was all he said to the Spartan with a nod.

Grikgar spent the rest of the voyage on their land ship either tinkering with the sentinel parts or sunbathing. The sleeping arrangements didn’t bother him and the warm climate was something he very much enjoyed. The others talked to him occasionally and the other elite seemed a little awkward about it but it didn’t bother the Unggoy. Occasionally, the grunt would find his way out to the top of the vehicle and climb around it. The armor on the human vehicles was much easier to grip to then the former covenant vessels.

Grikgar had been sleeping in the stairwell leading to the outside of the vehicle. He was very much accustomed to sleeping anywhere and on or in anything. Unggoy were accustomed to being crammed into strange places during travel. The sudden stop did make him roll down to the base of the stairs near the pilot’s. With a quick shake of his head, Grik made his way down to his extra methane canister to fill his tank back up.

The others were beginning to stir now as well and Grikgar was quick to start arming himself to get ready for the movement as well. Making sure that the shield and cloaking on his suit was still working properly. Once he had completed this Girk joined Vael the only weapon he did not have o him was his cannon. He didn’t need it just yet anyway. Now all he had to do was hurry up and wait for further orders.
Victor Astorio

The trip back to the dorm was quiet, a little tension combined with what Victor assumed was exhaustion kept it that way. The count was otherwise focused on cleaning his feet and putting his shoes back on through the short trip home. Salem was quick to exit the vehicle and head inside as well. With a sigh he thanked the driver and got up out of the car. His demeanor turned almost annoyed but figured he might as well see what was bothering his mage.

Entering the home and closing the door the large vampire took off his shoes and his dirty shirt, placing it by his door. The sounds from the kitchen sounded rather irritated he wasn’t quite sure how someone cutting on a cutting board could sound irritated but he figured it would be best to try and understand his mage and the mood swings humans were prone too.

Entering the kitchen he could see Salem chopping up what looked like bark, the boy always had to have some tea after activities such as these. “Better than drowning himself in alcohol.” Victor thought. Salem began to speak while the count was pouring himself a small glass of blood from the fridge. The count took a drink while his mage continued his questions. Clearly he was upset following the events of the evening.

Patiently Victor waited for Salem to finish as he leaned against the opposite counter with his arms crossed. “Hmm so how about we start with the plant mage. I have only heard of Edmond? Edward? Whatever his name is, in passing. I personally have never seen him fight only heard about it. At any rate, you charged off far too quickly for me to relay any useful information to you in the first place. So in short I didn’t expect anything until after I saw that vampire try to strike you.”

Picking up the glass again, swirling the blood and thinking of how to continue. “As for the first trial, I don’t think I’ve made this clear to you as to what exactly my job on the council requires of me.” Taking another drink the count sat the drink down and continued. “I am a head hunter that specializes in live capture of individuals that break council or treaty laws. That much I’m sure I have told you but what I failed to mention is that if the target or their cohorts are too dangerous and I am unable to take them alive… then I have the authority to... terminate the target. But that’s a last resort option.”

Stepping away from the counter to stand behind Salem waiting for him to turn and look at him before continuing. “I cannot tell you everything, for some of the secrets I carry are better left secrets. That’s why I warn any mental mages around me to not poke or prod my mind, some secrets could very well make those who know it disappear.” Victor still did not move he had a point to make as he towered over his mage. “I cannot tell you who they were, I cannot tell you where, when, or why. However, I can tell you that currently I have killed three humans, four mages, and five hmmm… six vampires.” He wasn’t entirely sure what point he was making but he was going to make it.

“As for Sarah? Let’s just say where Astorio’s are generally traditionalists. You can say that my clan, the Strigois clan, is ultra-traditionalist.” Victor’s muscles began to flex and his jaw tightened, “I killed Sarah because I loved her and my father wouldn’t stand for it. That is why I push for you to have extra etiquette classes… So there’s your secret for today and it best be kept that way.” Turning from him and returning to the glass of blood Victor downed the rest of it and smashed the plastic cup on the counter. It wasn’t as dramatic as glass but it sufficed for his burst of anger.

Grikgar continued his single minded attraction to the sentinel pieces, a few of the others showed interest that he could see but little else. The Lekgolo seemed to look in his direction but little more, Grik was certain that it was looking for metal scraps more than tech though. The Spartan that had been talking to him earlier and seemed to be the nicest towards him so far stepped forward and seemed to question what the Unggoy was doing.

The grunt looks up from his work for a moment and tips his head to the side. “Grikgar does not know, only ever saw Huragok repair sentinels once in this way. It attached two power sources together and it stabilized the power source.” Picking up the part and moving it around to see the different sides of it. “Like this, Grik does not know why but if combined with another explosive has….” He paused for a moment trying to grasp the right term. “Unexpected result? If anything at all. As humans say wild card.” Placing the part between the two of them.

Grikgar then began to go over the different scraps of armor and metal frame, again placing those that he deems unusable in a pile. The Unggoy began to put some of the scraps up to his armor looking like he was seeing if they would improve it or not. Again he put more parts into the scrap pile until only a few frame pieces where left in one pile and other inner working parts in another. Moving the more complicated but still technically good parts next to his locker with the few good Frame parts. “Ok now Grik has things to repair his armor with and tinker.” It was his way of keeping away from boredom while also being resourceful.

“Tasuma!” he called out to the Lekgolo in his high pitched voice and waved his arm as if his voice didn’t get its attention. “If you want those scraps Grik is done with them.” Motioning towards the small pile. Spartan Ben was still examining the power source so Grikgar began picking up the sentinel beams and placing them in the armory next to the other.

Grikgar watched as multiple machines where taken down by his explosion. This and the combined efforts of the others brought most of the stragglers down. His display alerted him to more incoming but their salvation had arrived in the shape of the gigantic land vehicle, he could only describe it as being the human equivalent to a scarab. The Unggoy was quick to grab the remains of three sentinels that were taken down by EMP and had not detonated. Dragging the husks of metal with him to the Elephant.

The others quickly made their way inside, Grik was not far behind stopping only once he was in cover. “Grikgar has no injuries to report Commander.” The grunt wasted little time to tear into the sentinels that he brought on board. The power cores in these machines were volatile at this stage and he needed to act quickly to attempt to stabilize them. Quickly pulling two of the power cores out and fixing them together made him quickly go to the third. The third power source could not be stabilized before it reached its critical after recovering from the EMP.

The demolitions expert was quick to toss it out the door before it closed, catching fire in his hand as he threw it. Returning to the three sentinels the Unggoy quickly began taking them apart, he did remember a few engineers try to repair a damaged sentinel once and was aware of some of the other possibilities with them. Removing the three lasers and placing them together neatly, then removing internal parts into another small pile, then another pile with what looked like good portions of the metal frames of the machines with one last pile for burnt out, damaged, and just trash parts.

He was very well unaware of what was happening around him Grik seemed consumed in his task at hand. Generally he wouldn’t be the one to tinker but right now it seemed that they were safe and he could do what he wanted in relative peace. Essentially the grunt was looking at replacing his spent explosive charge with the combined power sources of the machines regardless of if it actually worked and attempt to add to his own armor with the metal from the sentinels.

Grikgar was paying close attention to the flight patterns of the surrounding sentinels. The team around him seemed to be doing rather well at choosing targets and keeping out of harm’s way. The Spartans and even the other elite were calling out targets and the actions they were taking. This was no simulation but at least it showed him that they could work together. Well most of them anyways.

The hunter and the other Spartans seemed to be quick to cover the blue Spartan and take out the sentinel’s aiming for himself and the Lekgolo. Yet when the hunter shifted Grik could see a few small groups of circling sentinels group up just for a moment before continuing to circle. The Unggoy was quick to holster his right pistol and remove one of the plasma charges from his belt. Quickly molding it in his hand to the shape of a plasma grenade and waited for a moment.

“Take Cover!” the grunt shouted throwing the charge into the combined mass of two smaller groups of sentinel’s on similar flight paths. Following the charge with his pistol the demolitions expert discharged a short 4 round burst from his pistol striking the charge in the air near the grouped up robots. Twisting himself around the other side of the Lekgolo to use them as cover from the blast. He didn’t know if it was close enough but at the very least the EMP or shock wave from the charge might do something.

Victor Set Salem down after they cleared the forest. The count waited patiently for the attendant to clear his vison and soon he was able to see once more. The proctor took his medallion, the duo was soon greeted by a very happy looking princess Ryner. Her comment made him smile and he nodded towards her, “Your highness, it was definitely a different kind of challenge but one that I enjoyed.” Pausing for a moment to look over at Salem giving a slight laugh at his weary attitude of the situation. “I am quite curious though, were those illusions planned or going off of our own experiences and memory’s?” he had a vague idea of how exactly the illusion spells for the test worked but wasn’t too sure himself.

Salem seemed rather insistent on leaving, he didn’t blame him. For once victor could understand him being tired. Victor would still wait for her response before heading back to the tent with the boy. “Well it seems my Mage is rather tired we should be heading back. If you still have others out there missing by sunset I would be happy to help locate them.” The large vampire highly doubted that she would need it still he figured it wouldn’t hurt to offer.

Stepping up to the tent that they were motioned too, the count set the figurines on the table in front of the next proctor and expected to receive his confiscated blades and shoes. “After this, we can go back to the dorm and rest. I think today will make up for one of your workout days so you can take tomorrow off and count it as a bonus rest day. Still have to do your stretches and get your day light in though.” He spoke quietly towards Salem while he put his shoes back on. “If you still have questions, they can be answered at the dorm. Oh and thank you for the compliments earlier.”

Grikgar waited for the Lekgolo to move out as it seemed a few of the humans where the first to get out and into the fray. Their tactics mirrored his own being the first out and last in just not as well trained to begin with. Tasuma rushed forward after a few others making itself a living barrier between them and the trench the pelican had made. A Spartan took up a position behind the hulking alien, he seemed to be using weapons better suited to go after the sentinels that didn’t have shields.

Grik moved quickly up behind the hunter pressing his methane tank up against the armored giant. He did this to ensure that his weak spot was better protected and so that he could move with the Lekgolo’s movements and not against it. Running head first into the thick of it was how he inspired the best out of the grunts he used to lead, never backing down, never running. Charging his pistols the Unggoy began to fire the balls of tracking green plasma in two directions. One was being fired towards the robots low to the ground and the other was being fired towards the ones still coming down.

Charged plasma fire was very good at downing and destroying the machines on their own at times let alone their ability to strip shields and stop electronics. This also had the chance of killing the sentinel without it setting off its secondary explosive and rendering it partially intact. There were still more targets highlighted on his visor but the grunt focused on the bots that were closest to them while staying out of the way of the Lekgolo’s footsteps. “Watch for secondary explosions!” he called out.
Ardur The Mighty Hipixie
To Glory > Tactical Retreat /// Adventuring day 5 // Evening > Night / Location - The edge of the shimmering pool > Hopeful moving toward the exit

The water was cold and refreshing yet it all ebbed away when he saw the carnage the others had been dealing out. The sheer amount of undead crushed or beaten below their feet somewhat reminded him of some of the civil war battles where piles of the dead began to form their own small hills. Yet even through this carnage the monsters kept coming. Ardur could see the vast numbers of them, a slow moving mass with one pulsing red gleam behind them urging them forward. This core was very dangerous.

Trent was the first to notice his return while the high pixie healed his spider friend. The boy and the others all seemed to be taking quite the beating. Ardur only paused for a moment to use monster Analysis I on those monsters he could see to try and feel out the opposition. Before he could tell the boy to pay attention the sword shot out from the water behind him and sliced a lizard in half before clattering to the ground.

After healing mother slime, he could see that the next step was retreating out of here. A hard fought idea but there was little choice for anything else. They were ill equipped and prepared for the fight but they had to keep going or be over run. Asura seemed to have the same thought as he was healed, yet Trent had a good point. It would be giving them the advantage.

A zombie pixie caught him off guard with a curse spell while he was thinking about what to do next. The chill of the curse he was sure he had felt before. While he watched Trent start to maneuver towards the sword Ardur called out to Dhulfiqar feeling Galantine’s courage dissipate while heat and anger grew with in him. At the very least he learned only one of their boons could be active at the same time. Before he could react to anything more Trent reached the sword.

“AEGUS!”

Trent’s yell made him look over to him, the boy looked older for some reason, like he hadn’t slept or eaten in days. Perhaps this is what the sword was talking about when it spoke of needing more mana or maybe what the effects of mana drain look like on a human. Either way, the sword howled almost making his head hurt as the sword seemed to glow slightly and Trent yelled again. Whatever he was casting was taking a lot of mana to accomplish.

“DEPTH CHARGE!”

The water from the pool rose up from behind him and followed the blade down to the floor as a condensed sphere. The pressure from it reminded him of a fire truck hose, the enemy’s caught in it responded like they were hit with one. Flesh peeled, bones cracked, stone reshaped, and all were sent back, most to the floor. Ardur tried his best to analyze what he could of what he just saw but was unsure what he would gleam from it. Trent was on his knees now but at least their exit was clear enough.

Ardur looked to Trent and the others, “Get him up and out of here, now is our chance to go!” He ordered, the anger in his chest getting the better of him. “Steve web the broken ground to slow them down more and follow them out.” Ardur knew charging into battle would mean death, still he was in a stone cave with a cracked and broken floor in front of him.

Picking up 4 stones the Mighty High Pixie used his strength, Physical conditioning, point strike, and acquired anger to throw the stones at the closest enemy’s and the downed skeletons. Stopping for a moment to try and pull the mana of the earth to the stone. Somewhat like he did for meditate only instead of pulling the mana into him he pulled it into the stone. With this stone Ardur used the full ability of his strength, skills, and rage to target the distant red gleam of the dungeon core. Fully aware that it likely would not reach he tried anyway, "Point Strike!" he yelled as he threw it, much like a base ball pitcher. If the others had started to move on by then, Ardur would follow picking up more rocks and throwing them at the closest enemy’s as they made their retreat.
