Roman watched the two figures slowly start to approach the group, he didn’t recognize count Fritz immediately as they approached but did make out the man’s form. A small thank you from his left snapped him back to his friend. he could only give Zarai a warm smile in return to her thank you.

“a thank you and a smile is all I will ever want from you.” He spoke softly with warmth in his words.

Nodding to the noble knight, his son, and his helper with a smile. “Come now Mathias you talk like that’s a bad thing. Now if we met like this on the field then yes we really shouldn’t be running into each other out there.” Watching Sadie almost throw herself at the small human he brought along with him. The sight was very much adorable. Those moments for him were precious and made him miss home for only but a second.

Sadie’s question and bubbly attitude made him smile even wider with a hardy laugh. “a good gaggle of learners this time, no shinning stars yet but we will find the Dimond in the rough with this batch I’m sure of it. Ill challenge them to see if they can beat even your wonderful craftsmanship at the end of the summer. I’m sure it will catch them off guard especially when you come join us for a lesson.”

His smile never faded as he spoke but again his eyes and attention were pulled from them when the one he thought was violet turned out to be violet? But she didn’t look well, bloodshot eyes, a new scar or makeup on her brow that he did not remember being there before. Perhaps a bruise or a mark from a fight, needing a cane? Must have been a struggle. The pair was at the perimeter of the guards at the base of the hill, knowing the count at her arm could get her through he continued to examine them.

He wasn’t too awful familiar with the man but was aware of the Varian nobility that was on the roster for joining them out here this summer. That was after all part of his job. As they approached, Roman stood from his position, he did not conceal the worry on his face. With her red eyes and the mark on her head she must have been assaulted after the party last night. Trying to remember why he didn’t leave the party with her instead of going with the others made his head hurt and he couldn’t help but feel a tinge of guilt pass through him for a moment.

There must be some sort of serial abuser in the city to have two beautiful nobility assaulted in one night, first Zarai and now her. He would have to have his men look into this matter further when he got back to them tonight. Roman remained silent as he looked the duo over, she was definitely distant maybe she was still stuck in survival mode or shock over what happened to her. Why the hell would her father let her out in this condition she should be recovering in bed if her assailant made it so she needed a cane to walk.

John spoke up first and invited violet to join them, the prince looked otherwise neutral to the new guest and some of the others just looked at her with worry? He wasn’t quite sure. The sudden appearance of a red-haired women that immediately threw her arms around the princess made him instinctively grab the hilt of his sword for just a moment. With violet being here his concentration wasn’t on his surroundings.

A few faces from the crowd locked eyes with him for a moment then went back to whatever they were doing. It was true that Roman had guards tasked to him like the others but his guards were always just out of sight or blending in with the rest of the population so it never looked like he had guards with him. They were making sure they didn’t need to come to assist him, he still gave the guards at the bottom of the hill a glare at their failure to at least question who was joining them.

Relaxing and trying to turn his attention back to lady violet, he spoke with a slight smile addressing the count on her arm first, “Thank you Count Fritz for escorting Lady Violet Damien to our simple gathering.” His smile didn’t fade but his guard was still up with regard to the new comer. “Violet” he spoke with the same curious and cautious tone he had when they were talking on the balcony the night before, “Are you alright? I could not find you after our dance last night at the castle.” Maybe it was then that she was attacked, her father sent her off to keep some of her dignity perhaps? What ever happened to her the night before didn’t sit right with him.

Another man approached them and again he turned to glare at the guards, who at this point could only shrug as the messenger delivered his note to the princess. He may not have authority over them but he was still intimidating. To add to that intimidation, although he looked at Violet with a calm but worried gaze, there was the possibility that those who knew him or knew the signs could see a growing rage behind his eyes and subtly in his body language. The crystal hidden under his shirt glowed almost unnoticeably as these emotions began to grow inside of him. He would find who did this to her and he wouldn’t make their demise quick.
Agar

// Into the forest >> Get The ball //

Agar stopped when he felt the presence of the things around him. Watching the dire rat scamper off towards the forest, then to the two forms in front of him and the large sphere in the trees above them. The feeling he got from this ability was strange and foreign to him. What kind of thing could this be? How does it work? All things that caught his attention as he even tried to reach out towards some of the strange signatures he was seeing. Nothing from his old world was like this.

He could see another larger flame at the edge of this new sight and was confused by the way they moved. They didn’t have the same shape or glow as the others, it was if they were tangled together. still he found himself not deciding to move. Clearly the two were entangled in some kind of fight but this feeling was overwhelming him. By the time he decided to move he heard and somewhat felt another large snap and the large glowing signature diminished to a shape similar to the other Runt that was with him.

Seeing the other runt make a break for it from out of the brush startled him for a moment as he could see the overlap of his ability and his physical sight once more. This power was strange and the rat seemed to have scurried out of his range now. All that was left was the glowing fruit above them. Agar tried to reach out further with his sight meeting only a headache and what he described as feedback. He felt something similar when he tried to focus more on the only two signatures left around him for a moment longer before finally deciding.

“Sorry, got distracted. There’s something big dat tree up theres and I’m going for it.”

He pointed towards the large round thing in the near by tree, moving to the tree to begin to attempt to climb the tree. Keeping a good eye out for places to grab and places to put his feet. If that didn’t work he would simply try to wrap his limbs around the tree the best he could in order to shimmy up the thing.

Watching the strange man go with a smile and a nod that one was strange but he could appreciate the attitude of a good soldier when he met one. The smile on his face did not fade while he walked through the streets. Taking in the sounds of the city and its people, the smells floating through the air were not all unpleasant, he made sure to pick up more than a few tempting treats and grilled meats. The evening sun slowly falling ever closer to the horizon did at the very least begin to lower the temperature of the city to a comfortable temperature for the north man.

Making his way slowly back to his warehouse gave the man plenty of time to think as he nibbled on some of the food and handed some of it out to either children as he walked by or the seldom scruffy looking beggar here and there. The events of the day gave him a lot to think about, from all of them forgetting what happened the night before then finding out that the first women he actually had a natural connection with left, meeting up with Jacob and crystal again, then the issue with the hunting area, Verrick winning the archery competition wasn’t all that surprising.

The blacksmith lessons went rather smooth considering the turnout for participants, then there was meeting the outlander Sjan-dehk and learning about him while watching the end of the arena fights. Blood thirsty the lot of them, he just shrugged at the thought as he shouldn’t judge them too harshly. There have been several encounters which should have killed him but instead he blacks out and wakes up the next day surrounded with carnage. The memories from some of those instances flooding back for a moment before he pushed through them.

The incident with the bear was worrying, it should not have been able to get that close to the city and it wasn’t starving. Even with the possibility of it being sick it would have been more attracted to the smells and sounds of the carnival than them in which case it would have done a lot more damage before getting put down. He guessed that was a good thing but it also seemed odd he just couldn’t quite figure out why or who would have an angle for that to happen. He also heard a rumor that Mina had some sort of episode at the execution as well from one of his passing men, he hoped his old friend was doing well with it. The last thing she needed was to make her father worry about her even more.

The entrance to the warehouse came into view as he realized that he wandered here without remembering he was so close. The two guards at the main door stood as he approached from their seated positions under a small awning. With a wave of his hand they relaxed and accepted some of the food he had brought back with him. Stepping inside he saw that a few of the others from the ship had moved into the store house as well. They weren’t technically supposed to stay here but he bought the whole place for the summer and made sure the local guards knew that his people would be staying here.

Moving to the back of the warehouse he saw Eric writing on some parchment, the diligent worker didn’t even raise his head as roman handed him a skewer of meat and vegetables. They didn’t say anything at first as roman began to change into some evening clothes and wash up a little for the firework show. The smaller man at the table finally set the pen down and leaned back in his chair followed quickly by a yawn and rubbing of his eyes. “Is that the last update to the queen before she leaves?” He asked in a serious but quiet voice than usual, he did not need to be loud and boisterous in here.

“Aye, won’t know for sure who is goin wit her tell the morrow.” Eric answered his friend with a tired voice beginning to eat a few chunks off the stick he was given.

“You need to add in there for her or one of her advisors to meet a Lady Adiyan, she is a representative of the Viserjantan Commonwealth on the trade ship Sudah. They are from a far off island nation fresh out of a civil war. Could be a good trading partner if not an ally perhaps someone to keep neutral if things here go bad.” Roman spoke as he applied some neutral fragrances and started to put on his evening clothes.

Eric gave his superior a questioning look for a moment, “I… I don’t know how to try to spell what you just told me... I'll include it in this missive so they can decide what to do on their end.” Picking up the pen again to add in a few more sentences.

“Also do include that I suspect that there are more strange occurrences in this city this time around. Just a feeling, everything seems just a little more sideways than it normally is. Maybe another player we are not aware of that’s shaking things up.” Roman made sure to almost whisper that part as he made sure that his sword, seax, and pouches were secured to his belt and inside pockets. Opening one of the small boxes with flowers painted across its side, he took a small glass orb that barely fit in his palm it was a small ceramic jasmine flower encased in glass. A small trinket that Sadie may enjoy.

“Your gut feeling then” the man retorted.

“Something like that, just another thing to watch out for.” Throwing his light brown cloak over his shoulder with a shrug, he didn’t need the cloak but it helped to hide away his weapons a bit better since many of the city folk were on edge around open carry weapons at times. “I’m off to the park to see the princess, try to get some sleep or something after you’re done with the queen.” The other man just waved him off while Roman headed back out the door and towards the park in the setting sun.

The walk back to the park was uneventful, the only thing that stood out was the look of an earlier gunfight down some of the streets near the Damien estate. Just another thing to chalk up to weird events through the city, might be worth investigating in later but not now, right now he was to meet up with some of the other nobility of Varian at the park for the firework show. Even before he got to the park he could see the spot that Sadie picked out for their show.

Drawing closer still he noticed a few familiar faces prince Felix was there with the good doctor John and he could even see the form of Lady Zarai being carried up the hill to the others. It would seem that her injuries are still getting the best of her and the wheelchair from earlier wasn’t all for show. Roman slowly strode up the small hill towards the others as well. One of the guards moved to intercept him for a moment but a quick look to the man made him reconsider his earlier decision.

Making it to the top of the hill he gave a respectful bow to the prince and princess. “Prince Felix, Princess Sadie, Lady Zarai, Dr. Williamson. A pleasure to see you all again on this lovely evening.” Spoken with a smile and his ever friendly demeanor towards his fellow countrymen. “I hope you all had a wonderful and eventful day.” Either not reading the room very well or not caring too much for the personal space of others in an aloof kind of way, he found his spot next to Lady Zarai.

Turning to face the young lady with a genuine smile. There was no judgment in his gaze or persecution lingering in his voice. He honestly felt like she needed a friend in his own sort of way without being entirely too awkward. “I do have to say, you look as stunning as ever Lady Zarai.” His words were meant as a compliment, he always did enjoy her company but never saw her as more than a friend or little sister.

He wasn’t always the best person to gauge the emotions of others but she was looking a little down. He could only think that it was because of either being as beat up as she was or that she was just annoyed that she had to be stuck with a babysitter all day either way he figured he could at least try to cheer her up.

Still smiling with that big brother attitude he had towards most of the other Varian nobility, “Zary, I’m proud of you.” He teased her, quietly using his childhood name for her, the words just meant for her but he wasn’t hiding it either. “You’re doing a good job, I’m glad to see you out here with the rest of us, instead of letting your injuries get the best of you and remaining in bed.”

Always the optimist and in a good mood, the giant looked at the others that where with them on the hill as the fireworks went off above them. “I believe that we are all doing a good job, our lives can be stressful and challenging at times. Yet if it wasn’t challenging it wouldn’t change us and we wouldn’t grow.” He looked to them again from his seated position and continued to give them all a smile. “I still believe this summer is going to be very interesting for all of us.” Again he continued to smile at them while they enjoyed the evening air.

With his hopeful, short, pick me up speech done Roman let his eyes wander through the crowd below. There were plenty of people moving about plenty of sights and sounds. Then his eyes locked onto someone familiar and his smile dropped slightly. He knew it was her from the moment he saw her that form and dress. Violet? Calbert said that she would have been gone to their home in the interior yet here she was limping through the crowd with a cane? It was hard to tell at this distance but he almost certain it was her. He needed to investigate but wanted to make sure that Zarai was okay first before going down there after her.

Roman listened to the man intently not just because he didn’t want to be rude but he was interested in what the man was saying. It was good to hear that his representative was okay but he almost missed the subtlety in his voice, it could have been a misunderstanding but came across as slight worry. The land he spoke of sounded like a very diverse island people it also seemed that the individual islands or people had specific jobs, he could be wrong but it all sounded very interesting way of governing. This was definitely a place he would like to visit some day and would have to push Erik to build friendly relations with them.

“That way of leadership sounds like a council, we have something similar for my people not the kingdom. We have a Thing, brings all the chiefs in to discuss grievances and politics ruled over by my father Count Erick Ravenwood, occasionally the Queen will gather the heads of the nobility’s households and discuss kingdom wide policy.”

Roman looked back out to the arena and noticed that many were shuffling out and the applause and cheers had gone quiet. The nobility and royalty had also left with the fighters as well. It would seem that the two of them got here towards the end of the match today and that the arena decided to host the fights over several days which was fair but he believed it was to rake in addition revenue and not for the benefit of the fighters. The lord stood brushing his clothes off and turned back to Sjan-dehk.

“It does look like we arrived at the end of the match, you can walk with me still I was going to go to the tough tavern down by the slums for singing and drinks. You’re welcome to join me. I’ll make sure to get word of your Lady Adiyan to the queen as well.” Pausing for a moment to look around and start heading towards the exit now that most people had left. “if they are leaving tonight I will be sure to try to get them to set up a meeting at the Varian coastal city they will depart from for your own meeting.”

His smile didn’t fade and this one seemed truthful enough that he didn’t come off as some strange over the top assassination plan from one of the other kingdoms or enemies. He came off as a little aloof but mostly because of this being a new place for him. Different people, different foods, different culture, and language. He was familiar with the feeling traveling to new places was part of his job too. Roman believed that was why he was being so open and comfortable with this outlander.

He was pulled from his thoughts when a messenger approached him, “I've been looking for you. Got something I'm supposed to deliver - your hands only.” Pausing for a moment to dig through a leather satchel, “Let's see here... A note from someone named Calcelmo, in Markarth?” holding the note in his hand for a moment then putting it back, “Sorry that was not the right one, ahh yes, It's from... Princess Sadie Camilia at Sorian Park? You've got friends in high places." Roman took the flowery and colorful letter from the man with a puzzled look. “Important deliveries to make! No time for chatting!" the strange courier turned and quickly left leaving the bewildered lord with the note from Sadie.

Not caring if his new friend could read it, the giant read it to himself then folded the note and placed it back in his pocket. “Well friend it was a pleasure talking to you I do hope we can meet again in the future. It seems I have been summoned by the princess. You are welcome to come to the Sorian park and join us if you like.” Pausing for a moment to pull an intricately decorated silver disk with the symbol for house Ravenwood etched into it. “If you happen to see any vendors with this symbol give this to them and they will give you any one thing in their inventory to you for free, think of it as a gift from my people to yours or from me to you, whichever you like.”
