Agar noticed the small indication of his new skill for a moment, it was a nice bonus and base to start out with. Still he had a task to complete and now he was almost within striking distance of what could very well be three sources of food. Yet it would seem that he would still have to hold his actions for now the fight was still going strong and he had to pay attention and learn all he could of what was going on in front of him.
Maintaining his stealth, the mohawk grunt continued to watch them fight. Clearly the cat was a stealth ambusher likely relying on the venom it had if the growing bruise on the harpy was anything to go by. The scavenger wasn’t a push over either, the scream that it let out was likely a skill as it bothered him more than it should have even from this distance and there was a strange color that formed when the creature struck at its foe with its claws. Those things might make a good weapon if he was able to kill it.
By the rules of the animal kingdom even with their injuries these two still seemed to judge that they could easily take the other creature which would explain their behavior or that the harpy wasn’t fast enough to take off without the snake grabbing it first. The snake seemed to have the same basic instincts as snakes back home with the capability to wrap its opponent’s, that was something he would have to watch out for.
With his field scan he stayed behind the nearest tree watching them without giving away his position. The faint glow of some other creature caught his attention for a moment but it did not seem to be too concerned with them and slowly left the area. Agar figured his chances of taking the creatures at the same time was still a little low without significant injurie. He also had to judge to see if every fight he got himself into was worth it or not. Even with that thought he knew that he wanted to keep watching the two too see how they fought and all of their strategies before just blindly rushing in.
He kept himself behind the tree concentrating on the field scan to try and make it clearer but not to the point where he thought he might lose focus on anything that may have been attracted by the scream. Waiting as a patient hunter for the best opportunity to fight, for now he would leave these two to tire themselves just a bit longer before making his move.

Sounds of rolling waves drifted gently through the warm waters that surrounded Roman. With only the sound of small bubbles escaping from him on their climb to the surface to bother these fleeting calming moments. It was serenity, not a worry or pain confronted him for the brief moments he was able to hold his breath. Finding the bottom of the sandy coast or muddy lakebeds just as peaceful as the bleak mountain tops of the far north, where most mountains have no names and most cannot reach the top.
The calm was interrupted by the growing burning sensation in his chest. The need to breath bringing him back to the surface. With a mighty push from the sandy floor he soon found himself on the surface again. He had swum around out here for some time and could feel himself begin to need a drink. The commotion at the shore seemed to have dissipated while he swam back. It was only after he got himself out of the water did he notice the small gathering of familiar faces.
Dr. John seemed to have found the relative company of few others, he recognized lady charlotte and one of the Alidasht Farim accompanied by another girl that looked familiar but he met many people so that didn’t mean much and a few others he could not recognize. It seemed the infamous Duke Lorenzo was enjoying himself by the waters edge with another young lady he did not recognize. A sudden shriek caught his attention to his left as he recognized the blonde hair of one of the party’s attendees Kazoo he was sure of with Ruby nearby. That one was a hard one to miss, separate eye colors were positively unique. She was one of the funniest personalities he encountered in the tough tavern on some of his past stays in this city.
Those two seemed like they were having quite the moment and didn’t feel up to interrupting what looked to be a bonding moment. Instead he decided to go see what the good Dr. was up to other than obviously enjoying a break. Always the professional to be at the beach wearing that attire. He wouldn’t mind talking to the others either, it wasn’t too often he had the chance to do so when not in a professional setting of some sort.
Roman confidently approached the group with a smile, it was always good to have friends even if he didn’t get to talk to them too often. His time spent swimming had relaxed him and he was in a very good mood especially with the plans for the evening that so far did not have any complications.
Stopping just within the acceptable bubble of the group he was always thoughtful of not wanting to be too intimidating with his size especially now that he was wearing effectively just undergarments that still dripped water off them.
“Hello friends, enjoying the beach so far? Always a pleasure to see you Farim and Charlotte.”
Roman gave a respectful nod to both of them and john but did not know the other two. He had a few dealings in the past with Farim but mostly in the presence of his father when negotiating trade deals or delivering personally requested items for the sultan or his children. He so far had not had too many instances to get to know the man personally.

Agar thought about the options given to him for a moment and picked one that he thought would benefit his survival the best in the long run knowing he could probably get the others later. Agar chose [Blunt Damage Resistance] figuring that it would most likely give him the best chances for survival especially with his current crazy idea. Watching the cat snake thing slowly advance on its prey he too watched and mimicked some of its movements. He took careful consideration as to what branches and plants it skipped over as he looked to improve his own abilities while watching the worm.
Slowly he balanced the sick in his right hand using his left arm to help him maintain his balance but held in a way that he could grip his stick with both hands for a powerful blow. Every step was carful, slow, and calculated. Eyes glimpsing down to find the best foot holds while also maintaining a visual on the two creatures. He wanted to get within striking distance even if he had to take a few steps first, but more importantly he wanted to see how this Tatzelwurm hunted and attacked its prey.
If he was lucky he was sure that he would be able to take both of these beasts back with him. His heart seemed like it was pounding in his chest but he knew it was just the ever-encroaching feeling of adrenaline. Even with this he pushed away his brute orcish instincts to wait and learn what he could from this predator of the forest so that he may learn and possibly not fall victim to it as well. With this in mind Agar activated his skill [Field Scan I], it didn’t make any sound before so if it did make them aware of his presence he would know for the next time.
At the very least he knew that there was possibly more than a few other reincarnated here with him that he could try to talk to later about there experiences.

Roman did not return to the guest house that night instead he opted to return to the warehouse and debrief Erik. Their discussion didn’t last long mostly sharing information so that he can send a coded message to the queen and some of the others that needed to know what was going on. Still after this he did not return to the palace. He found that he needed to look into what violet said, look into the man that was trapped in his necklace.
Roman left to the beach, a short walk in the warm night air, the tide was low and few were out this late if they were not drinking or the average pair of guards patrolling the roads. He found himself aimlessly walking along the beach stopping within eye sight of the Damien estate. The dark windows and empty feeling he got from the place just brought him back to thinking of Violet and her change. The guards around the estate definitely had not lessened in number if anything they had grown in number.
This was as good as a place as any to start his meditation in the darkness with the waves of the ocean being his sole companion. Roman took off his shoes, jacket, and cloak. Folding them neatly in a pile then drawing a circle in the sand he stood in the middle of it. He took his time, slow fluid movements paired with digging his feet into the sand, rubbing a handful of it between his fingers. Deep rhythmic breaths, in through his nose, hold for a moment, ending with a slow breath out of his mouth.
With each breath timed with each shallow wave he drifted further and further into his mediation. The slow drawing of his sword to begin his dance with an unseen foe. Well defined and practiced movements paired again with his breathing and the waves his mind lost in the motions as his body followed the well drilled movements. Nothing filled his mind as even the sound and feeling of his breathing were lost to the abyss. In that nothingness he found it. A spark, a crack in the void that grew as he focused into it. Until he was suddenly blinded by green flames and deafened by screams.
He felt anger and insanity paired with rattling chains and an uncompromising bloodlust. It was so much that it almost overtook him threatening his very being to take hold and brutalize those that found themselves unlucky enough to be near him. Although on the outside his form faltered and strained for a moment he held strong against this assault. Just as an unstoppable force meets an unmovable object. The screams and powerful will to kill were vented and released until it was just a blue-green light in the formless shape of a man.
“What are you?” he called out to it. “I… I am the cost of what we did.” It responded between ragged breaths almost as if it had not spoken in decades. “What we did? You will have to be more specific than that.” Roman remained unmoved and unemotional to the thing. “I am what happens when one neglects the rules of magic, your old friend, Galdur Stonebrook.” A smile crept across its face as it remembered its name. “that’s impossible, I saw you die…. There was nothing left.” The first bit of emotion slipped through his stoic façade. “nothing left except the necklace you fool.” A bit of spite with the ghostly voice. Roman stayed quiet for a time, “Did it work then?” The voice scoffed then laughed, “why do you think you grew so strong while others stopped? Why you don’t get sick? Why you don’t tire as easily as others? You’re not blessed by the gods, your blessed by me.” “so, all of that is because of what we did? Then are you the berserker that the others speak of? What happens to me when I pass out?” “Of course I am, it’s the only time I get to come out and have some fun. I was always a better fighter than you.” Again, roman was silent in his mind, “So what now? How can I get you to work with me?” “oh, so now you want to work with me? Now that you know that my soul is trapped in here after 20 years!?!.... I’m sure we can work something out?” the voice said with a wicked grin. Roman sighed his friend was clearly unstable but for a good reason. This conversation was definitely not the last he was going to have to have with this one. “Then how about we agree on ground rules then?”
Roman continued his conversation and meditation well into the early hours of the morning. he wasn't quite sure how to process this or if he was truly talking to his friend or something else. Still, Finding a spare bed at the warehouse was not hard and found that he slept in until late in the morning.

A small letter with the Ravenwood seal marks the personal invitation from Roman Ravenwood to all Varian nobility and royalty as well as a few personal invitations to the nobility of Caesonia and Alidasht. It is not a private event and is open to all but he still felt it necessary to personally invite his friends and those he thought might enjoy one of their rituals. ((those that were interested in the event would receive one at any time during the day, as well as all of the Varian nobility regardless of if they wanted to come.))
“To whom it may concern, On behalf of the Ravenwood Family and Varian people, you are invited to attend our Celebration of the Summer solstice in accordance with our Traditions, gods, and culture.
There will be traditional food and drink from the northern Varian territories to all who attend. If you like, our shaman is offering drinks of ‘Seer’s Drink’ that may help you commune with the gods at your own risk.
We have set up a gathering spot on the western most portion of lover’s lake. An hour before sunset we will be leaving from the entrance of the forest by the archery range to the chosen location but you are welcome to join us anytime.
We ask that attendees be respectful of the traditions but participation is up to you. Clothing is optional and guard’s will be at the event to make sure that the proceedings go smoothly.
I, Lord Roman Ravenwood, do humbly request your presence at our Celebration for the summer solstice tonight. We have chosen a spot on the western most portion of lover’s lake for the fire ritual and offerings.
It is my honor to lead the celebrations this year and take my father’s place as the leader of the ritual.
Count Sebastian, I am aware of your health concerns but it would give me great pride if you could assist us with playing some of the music, just as you have done for my father in the past.
Lady Mina, you would bring me great honor if you would sing with me. You know our songs, you both do, I do not know anyone I would rather have for this than you.
I do hope to see both of you there tonight. As per normal, traditional food and drink of our territories will be available, the shaman has also made a batch of seer’s drink if you want to partake in that as well.
Clothing is optional and if you wish to have some of the traditional ritual garb, if you did not bring your own, be sure to stop by our warehouse a few hours before sunset and we will find something for you. I will be wearing the bones of the snow bear I killed last year along with a kilt in my family’s colors.
I would like to invite you to our celebration of the Summer solstice this evening. At the western most part of lover’s lake is where You can find me leading our ritual to my gods. I believe it may be something you would enjoy.
We can talk more if you like, I have been thinking about what you said the last we spoke. I don’t know what’s going on but I would like to help in any way I can even if its just to be a kind shoulder to lean on.
Please don’t be discouraged, healing takes time and if you would allow me I will be there every step of the way.
Yours Truly, Roman Ravenwood
P.S. your scars are still beautiful and they don’t diminish your worth.”
It took Roman about an hour to fill out the letters and personalized invitations to be delivered today. The warehouse was a buzz of activity as carts were loaded with food and other things directed by the shaman, the older women lived for rituals like these and she was sure not to disappoint. The guards that volunteered for the night shift during the ritual had the day off and he intended to take them to the beach to let off some steam before the night’s festivities.
Erik was busy making sure that the letters he had just got done writing were being sent off to the right places. Roman knew the hardworking man wouldn’t stop until it was time for the celebration tonight. The ritual was on everyone’s mind including his. It would surely be a good ritual, he was aware that this was the closest that they could come to publicly using magic. The ritual itself was meant to promote good health, luck, and prosperity to his people and really anyone that attended.
He gave a nod to Erik as the two passed each other “Be sure that Jacob at the Damien estate gets one of those invitations as well as anyone else he would like to bring.” the lord knew he could go mingle with the rest of the civilized nobility at the tea party but today was a day for the barbarians. A day he would make sure that his men and his people enjoyed. So, he knew he had to start that by bringing the guards that volunteered to work the night shift tonight out to the beach to thank them and give them a break before their shift.
The group of Varian northerners wore light button up shirts with matching kilts and simple foot wear to the area everyone seemed to be using to swim. They found an un used small grouping of chairs and umbrellas in the warm sand. Roman could see a few other faces he recognized as he scanned the beach area.
He could see Lorenzo, Charlotte, a woman that looked familiar but wasn’t quite sure and one of the Alidasht people. He remembered seeing the Alidasht man before but couldn’t quite place his name. a scream from the shore turned their attention collectively to someone covered in sea weed and another girl calling for help. None of them saw any threat to this and all as one just laughed at the situation unfolding.
The group of Varian left their things on the benches and began to strip. The recent decree about beach wear from the king wasn’t surprising given the mans nature but none of them liked that clothing wasn’t optional. Back home no one wore clothes when swimming, then again, the water here was like a warm bath compared to the frigid northern water they were used too. In a few moments they had stripped down to what could be considered a cross between a speedo and a loincloth with two knee length strips of fabric flowing off the front and back of their waist.
The men didn’t need to ask and simply began to do what they wanted, the younger Varian men ran off towards the water while a couple of the old timers stayed with their things and the newspaper enjoying the Sorian sun. they were all fit men of taller than average heights and with varying degrees of battle experience but they were all dwarfed by Romans sheer mass. now with most of his skin showing others could truly get a firm understanding of just how much stronger he looked compared to others. Scars adorned his bronze skin with the majority of the large and small blemishes across his arms. His muscles were not completely toned but still held quite the amount of mass that put his physique somewhere between a body builder and power lifter.
Roman didn’t seem to bothered by the people calling for help as it looked like the situation wasn’t that bad but he would intervene if it was something serious. Right now, he just wanted to swim and relax before the coming ritual. Swimming at least was a little harder for him, with his added mass he did not float but was used to it all the same. With confidence he walked up to and slowly wadded into the warm waters of the bay.
// a quiet stroll through the forest >> Scouting and new faces //
Agar stopped dead in his tracks at the notification he received. It looked oddly familiar to what he had seen when he first came here but didn’t quite understand what he was seeing, ingest skill or continue biomass accumulation. Strange options in a strange world. He thought about what it said about skills and wondered what exactly would be the best option. Ultimately, he decided to keep eating the rubbery exterior of the slime with the expectation that he would likely get the opportunity to find more slimes in the future for his tool ideas.
He continued to walk and think; his steps were slow and precise. Each step just on the ball of his feet, minimizing surface area and occasionally glancing down to map out his path through the forest. This was how he would stalk prey in Montana while hunting. Not slow enough so that he was tip toeing but definitely not rushing through the forest either. His eyes darted around his surroundings while he kept himself deliberately a little lower to minimize his presence the best he could. He knew this bodies reflexes and muscles were not ready for this but practice makes perfect. Occasionally still eating the slime to see if the assimilation rate rose with it.
Then he suddenly started to hear and see another smaller group of Runts patrolling the forest as well. They seemed a little beat up but determined to keep pressing further uphill from the direction he was going. He didn’t hide himself but he did observe them and what they had, noticing the leaves meant for a simple bandage and the smell of ash and barbeque. He waved to them and a sudden realization occurred to him, he wasn’t too sure who else may be came from the same world he did but he could always try to nonchalantly do something that would or could show them that he was reborn.
This idea was not something he intended to do towards the adults but figured he could brush off the attempt to just being weird towards the other runts. He decided on using a reference from his kids favorite animated movies. Looking at them with a slight glare as he chewed on the last bits of slime in his hand.
“any of ya seen Shrek or donkey around?”
Taking another bite of his slime and looking towards them inquisitively, a pang of sadness crossed his mind for a moment with the thought of his children but he couldn't linger on it. He honestly didn’t want to join the other runts he wanted to continue to scout the area. He wanted to bring back more than one kill hoping that the head warrior would see that although he was selfish for eating for himself first but still had enough smarts to look out for the tribe and its wellbeing. He doubted it for some reason but for now he would wait to see how this group reacted.

// Get The ball >> a quiet stroll through the forest //
Quickly the orc runt scooped up his kill not wanting any of it to go to waste even going as far as to scoop up some of the insides that already deflated out of the wound he caused. The fight wasn’t much of a fight but he didn’t see much use in hitting a water balloon with a stick to try and kill it. Puncturing it was the safest option and as it seemed was also the quickest. He figured it might have hurt him if it was backed into a corner and fighting him properly but this one chose to flee and died for it. This world was just as unforgiving as the last.
Putting a small portion of the jelly insides into his lip he began to slowly cut the puncture wound open further, letting the substance rest between his teeth and lip. It did taste good, he remembered some sort of fruit or berry tasting similar. By the way the thing moved it was likely an opportunistic omnivore maybe it was like bear meat where it tasted like what it had been eating. If that was true then perhaps there was more food in the tree somewhere.
Agar kept the sweet and slightly tart Slime inside in his lip like he had done countless times before with plants and some animals. If you weren’t sure if it was poisonous one should keep it there to see if the skin on your lip becomes numb or starts to hurt. If it does then its likely not edible. He took his time to carve out a small chunk of the slime that could fit in his hand, the consistency and thickness was like those cheap dodge balls at the store.
Tearing the last bit of the skin off and filling it with a handful of the goop inside the slime, Agar handed it to Duram with a nod. “Ere, its bout alff, I’m a go dis ways, you follow if want. Stay save.” With a smile Agar turned and started to walk off stopping only for a moment to check if he had everything. Almost immediately he began eating the rest of the slime jelly after not feeling any strange way from it. With only a small portion left of the slime jelly, he then cut off a small piece of the skin to chew on. It wasn’t great but it was definitely something to keep him busy while he carefully walked through the forest.
Not wanting to cut any more off the slime knowing it could make a good container of some caliber but he would need to treat it if he wanted it to stay preserved. Drying it was an option if it didn’t fall apart, or perhaps finding some brains of another creature to see if brain tanning would even work in this world. Either way he couldn’t do that right now. So, he kept walking. direction wise he was pretty sure that he should be walking with the fort to his right with the rest of the forest to his left. He was at least somewhat confident that some of the other runts might be in this direction.
