Bio
My Name is Shadow Daedalus, but I will accept pretty much any diminutive form you can come up with. I am active in the GMT Timezone, and I mention this to help coordinate posting times with others.
I like to RP things with fighting and grit, but chilled out RPs are good too. I'm a little out of practice, so my writing style falls anywhere between Low-Casual and High-Casual.
Wide range of tastes, like Sci-fi, Modern, Fantasy and Historical. This also includes a diverse range of Fandom content, especially Games and Anime.
I don't usually play more that three characters at a time, and I'm more comfortable as a male character, but I might try to expand more in the future, you'll have to wait and see...
Not very interesting, so feel free to ask me questions :D
@AGenericUser Check out Rinmaru for a good avatar creator. PrinceOfRedRoses is a really good anime-style artist and you can then put the finished picture on Imgur so you can link it here
@Blackened World Well, James is a watered-down version of Budo, so all we need is a version of Syura and we've got all three of the series' 'Evil Dragons' (the evil subordinate that is more powerful than the person they work for)
If you're reading this, I have managed (in one way or another) to draw your attention and appeal to your curiosity, so hurray! As you can see, my name is Shadow Daedalus, but you may refer to me in whatever way you find easiest to remember, for example; Shadow, Dae or even just SD. I am a Male, with a preference for females but willing to experiment if you can intrigue me. Anyway, I've talked about myself enough so let's get on to the interesting parts:
The Rules: These are important, as I'm pretty accepting of other people's writing but I do have standards as to what I want from a partner.
1) Being over the age of 18, I prefer if my partners are as well. Nothing against younger players, I just don't want to have to filter myself to make sure it's 'suitable' for an under 18. By the same token, any 18+ content is over PM only. I'm pretty liberal with adult themes, but I don't want to get us banned.
2) Low Casual to Low Advanced writing in terms of length and quality. I don't expect a best-selling novel, but I'd like at least a paragraph whenever possible. Other than that, I can work with whatever you give me.
3) I'm happy to include adult themes like smut/lemons/whatever you prefer to call it, but it's not a necessity.
4) Pairings, for the most part, will be MxF, with myself taking the Male role. I may, at a stretch, agree to a MxM but only if you make a compelling enough case. As for the pairings themselves, I'm quite flexible and happy to play either role in most cases. If you'd rather be the Assassin in an Assassin x Royal, I can be the Prince no problem.
5) Let me know if you want to drop the RP. If you just go dark on me, I'm just gonna end up waiting for a reply that won't come. Same goes for if I want to drop the RP; I'll message you to let you know. If I suddenly go dark, I'm probably really busy or something has happened so I can't post, not because I've lost interest.
Now for the part you're actually here for: Pairings:
Plot Ideas: More of a collection of world-building ideas than concrete plots, but c'est la vie. I've a few ideas for pairings for each one, but feel free to suggest your own. I like people who know what they want, and you can let your creativity out a little more.
In the year 2175, Humanity, in it's never-ending greed, destroyed itself in a horrific war that threatened to extinguish all life on the surface of the planet. Nuclear fire burned the sky and corrupted the earth. To survive, what was left of the human race hid itself away until the fires stopped burning and the nuclear storms had calmed. Driven by human nature, selfish men and women strove to take control and new kingdoms arose from the ashes of the new world. Governed by blood, a new era of monarchy arose across the broken planet.
It is now 2297, nearing the end of the 23rd Century. The old kingdoms are now firmly established, their reach spanning several nations and their power cemented by steel-forged traditions. Walled cities are raised, and the wealthy prosper inside while the less fortunate are left to struggle in the still-ruined wastes. In some such kingdoms, cruel and greedy kings and queens rule with a savage hand, leading to rebellions and uprisings. In others, they are fair and loved by their people, despite their hardships. In all, there exist rare but powerful Ability Users, heralded as the first step towards a higher existence and granted supernatural powers akin to 'Magic' spoken of in old stories.
To those in the walls, Ability Users are a symbol of elegance and purpose, a sign of exaltation to be awed, treasured and protected from the world outside. To the survivors of the wastes, it's something to be hated and feared, another golden light that is kept behind stone, fire and steel.
Post-Apoc meets Fantasy, Guns vs Magic, Kingdoms in a wasteland etc, Utopian cities surrounded by desolate wastelands. Lots of potential for creative pairings.
Every story, no matter outlandish, contains a sliver of truth, or so it's said. The stories made infamous by the Brothers Grimm? A lot more truth than just a sliver. Deep within The Black Forest is dimensional gate, connecting our world with theirs. Witches and Werewolves, Vampires and the Undead. But what's stopping them from leaving the Black Forest and rampaging across our world? That's were the Huntsman Corp comes in. An elite, hand-picked fighting force combining Science and the Arcane to fight the monsters that cross over to our world and even lead excursions through the gate and fight them on their own turf. As for the tales we all know and love? Well, Little Red Riding Hood wasn't so little... but she was certainly red when she was finished on the hunt.
This is an idea I've had for a while, but it was going to a group RP. The Huntsman Corps is basically a large organisation of monster hunters, organised like a military force. Formed by the original Red Riding Hood and the First Huntsman, they began hunting werewolves as a partners in the late 1800s, later beginning to hunt witches after teaming up with Witch Hunter twins Hansel and Gretel. As time passed, they gained more and more members and allies, eventually growing into the small army that would become the Huntsman Corps. Pairings can be from pretty much any time period between 1875 to the near future, with Witches, Werewolves, Elves, Fae and other such creatures classified as Non-Humans, with a Class system for threat levels, eg Level 5 Non-Humans are dangerous and/or aggressive, but Level 1 Non-Humans are docile and passive. The Huntsmen Corps' tech would change to keep up with modern technology, starting with revolvers and lever-action guns until newer and better weapons are invented, until they have things like AK-12s and SCARs.
Note: Huntsman is used to refer to male operative, and Huntress is used for females, but Huntsmen can be used to describe mixed groups as well as purely male groups. Also, there'll be plenty of monster-hunting tropes like silver bullets etc.
Example Pairings: -Red Riding Hood x the First Huntsman -Descendant of RRH x Modern/near future Huntsman/Huntress -Huntsman/Huntress x Non-human -Non-human x Non-human If you've got any other ideas, let me know!
Arcanus, during the First Era, was a wondrous land of Magic and Monsters, ruled by kings and queens. Elves, dwarves, orcs and humans mingled and warred with each other. Dragons, Unicorns and other mythical creatures roamed the world. Mages and Sorcery were common-place, gods and demons battled for the hearts of mortals and religion was law. The Second Era, however, marked the decline of that wondrous world; Wizards and Spellcasting became more and more rare, belief in the gods faded, the amazing creatures disappeared into the wilds to never been seen again and the great civilizations of the Dwarves and the free-living tribes of the Orcs crumbled away. Humans became the dominant species, overshadowing the remaining elves 20 or 30 to 1, and strove to advance their technologies and make up for what they had lost.
A revolutionary discovery marked the beginning of the Third Era: Arcanic Ore. Before this, Mages were the only ones that could tap into the vast amounts of ambient Mana that still lingered in the world, using it to fuel their True Magic like the spellcasters of the First Era. This new ore, when mana was passed through it, could produce magical effects, like flames that burn without fuel or flowing water without a source. With this new technology, many more soon followed: tracks guiding carriages pulled by steam-powered engines, ships that sailed amongst the clouds, light without flames, metal boxes that carried voices across great distances, weapons that hurled tiny metal arrows great distances as blinding speeds... but even so this land wasn't perfect. Many of the problems of the old world carried through to the new one, like pirates and slavery. Some people were trodden underfoot as others lived in luxury; The more things change, the more they stay the same.
A two-fold scenario for Fantasy and Steampunk. The First Era presents lot of potential for High to Medium fantasy, were magic is fairly common place, like in Skyrim or D&D, and plenty of choice for races and backgrounds. Dragon Prince x Elven Thief? Human Sorcerer x Orcish Barbarian? Angel x Demon? All that and more. On the other side, the Third Era is perfect for Steampunk pairings with a low fantasy twist. Technology is at late 1800s to 1900s, with obvious changes like airships, while the culture is nearer to Victorian.
Heaven and Hell are real, and they're in the mortal world. Angels and Demons had been locked in a bloody war over the mortal realm, but an uneasy truce was formed 400 years ago. From this truce, three main powers formed in the world: the Aetherium, angels of heaven and their devout religious followers; the Infernal Hold, home to the 72 Keys of Solomon, the 7 Deadly Sins and all manner of infamous demon titles and finally the Republic of Mankind, a democratic nation lead by humans that reject the sovereignty of both Heaven and Hell, and believe that mankind should guide and be guided by itself. Deeper into each territory, there are less and less of those born outside but the further away from each territory and deeper into the neutral zone, cities with more diverse citizens are more common. One such city is Centerholm City; located between all three powers, it has the most even ratio of races. On the opposite sides of the spectrum, Aurea, Inferus and Sanctum (The capital cities of Angels, Demons and Humans respectively) are made up completely of their respective races, with only towns near the border having any contact with the other races.
This is for the more modern settings (like military, school or just day-to-day stuff), set in a world somewhat similar to ours in the near future. Tech-level is a little after 2020, think Future Soldier or Black Ops 2, so drones and such are fairly common, prosthetics work a little more smoothly etc. Plenty of 'real-world' pairings and things like hackers or soldiers, with Angels, Demons and Mixed or Half races to add a little more variety.
Fandom Note: No Canon characters, OCs Only. Nothing against canon characters, it's just to avoid troubles that might arise should one player expect a character to act one way and the other expecting something different.
-Fate (Type/Moon) -Code Geass -Rosario Vampire -RWBY -Akame ga Kill -Tokyo Ghoul -Sword Art Online -Date a Live -Noragami -Soul Eater
There's probably a few more, I just can't think of any more right now. If you don't see one you like on the lists above, feel free to ask and you might find something I missed.
@AdmrlStalfos19 Using Taoist principles, deities, etc., I can think of a few ideas for a semblance:
Health, Immortality, Vitality: Maybe an AoE healing/Aura boosting effect?
Animal Spirits: Summons an animal spirit, either to increase her abilities or as a companion?
Chinese Elements: Uses one of the five elements (Fire, Metal, Wood, Water, Earth), Yin or Yang?
Wu Wei (equilibrium, to do what is necessary without exaggeration or overeagerness): A semblance that gets stronger to more danger (more/stronger enemies) she is in. You can tie this into one of the other ideas I mentioned as well, such as summoning a weak animal like the snake or only using one element at low threat levels, and something stronger like a tiger spirit or more elements when more danger is present.
Icarus was quiet during the flight, running through scenarios in his head to occupy his time until they arrived at the drop-off point. He dismounted and waited until the Air Manta had left before activating Fafnir, as to not spook the danger beast by suddenly transforming into an apex predator, and nodded to his pink haired teammate as she as asked about their readiness. He turned to look as his fellow dragon-user as she drew her weapon and dashed off ahead, before turning back to Kyysucara, Cochise and Kylie, a loose plan forming with plenty of flexibilities should the need arise.
"Kyy, use Baal's tracking to focus on finding Buta and take him out if you have the chance. Cochise, deal with any guards you come across and if you encounter the bodyguard the Boss mentioned, call for Kyy, Gwyneth or myself and take him down together. Kylie, secure the exits and look for targets of opportunity, but don't expose yourself. You're most deadly when they don't know where you're striking from. I'm going to catch up with Gwyn for now, but if you need help then signal me somehow and I'll try to assist. Sound like a plan?"
He waited for a moment, letting the draconic wings on his back spread to their full 5 foot length as he waited for their responses before breaking into a sprint. He leapt from the edge of the cliff and flapped his wings, rapidly catching up with Gywneth with the grace of a predatory bird. Passing over her, he gave his wings a powerful flap, propelling him upwards before letting himself fall like a draconic meteor. The impact was enough to crater the ground as he landed a few meters in front of his blonde teammate, grabbing two guards by the head as he fell and ramming them into the ground, the force leaving nothing but a bloody mush of flesh and fragmented bone where their skulls used to be. Icarus stood from his kneeling position and turned his head to look at her, a small smirk on his face.
