Elsea had heard faintly of some person once named Christopher Columbus, but truly didn't know much about him. She also knew that there was some new land somewhere to the west that people were beginning to become interested in, but beyond that she knew nothing about it. Scotland seemed to have enough problems of their own currently with the clans still warring, a king having come in trying to force his religion upon everyone, and England beginning to show interest in wanting Scotland for themselves, there wasn't much time for them to worry about some new land.

She began to open her mouth to respond to Cora's question, but what happened next stopped her and made her blood run cold. Cade started going off about Ayita and calling for Elsea and Cora to follow. Cora appeared to have seen a ghost and wasn't too happy about it. Elsea, however, heard a voice that was faintly familiar, but she couldn't quite place it. She glanced around her, searching for the culprit, as anger began to rise inside her. How would this person know of her clansmen? Did they have Risa or Kyran? This thought alone made her ready to fight, she would turn anyone who may harm Risa or Kyran to ash. "And of what concern is it to you on who I trust and who I don't? These two seem far more trustworthy than a coward like you that hides in the shadows. How about you show yourself and then we can have a real conversation?" The flames wanted to burst forth from her as the anger bubbled in her, but she kept it under control. Best not to reveal her hand until it was necessary. Cora, on the other hand, was quick to use her fire, but against what Elsea was unsure.

"Whatever you two are seeing, it isn't real! Something is messing with us!" She yelled at Cora and Cade, trying to snap them out of it.

Perfect. The response she'd gotten from Elthrael was exactly what Kenia was hoping for. "Oh my, it appears I've gotten under someone's skin." She said with a giggle before giving a devilish grin to the moth. "And thank you for recognizing my superior age! I do take pride in it." The woman truly couldn't care less what his thoughts were on her appearance, but she did find it very humorous that one moment he was speaking highly of her curves and when she didn't respond favorably he turned to trying to insult her appearance. Hac she really hurt his pride that much?

Her attention was then pulled to Vaeril as he seemed to drunkenly stumble towards Darius. She narrowed her eyes at him as he spoke to Darius as if they were very close. Darius even mentioned Vaeril owing him when they got home which would insinuate they definitely knew each other for awhile. How incredibly lucky they were to be able to stick together after the shit show that happened at the ball while herself and the others seemed to have been separated from their groups. While she was suspicious of everyone, there were some that were more suspicious than others. Vaeril was suspicious purely due to the fact that he was the host of the ball. Sure he could be innocent in it all, but it made the suspicion worse when it was his greeter who summoned the demon. Darius had become suspicious purely from the fact that he was an acquaintance of Vaeril. Both Elthrael and Zephyrin were suspicious due to them just appearing out of the blue. The only one that had gained a tiny amount of trust with her was Bowyn and his bird, Boreas. Even then, though, she would watch them closely.

"I'll trust that you can keep up, but know that if you can't I will not slow my pace. That goes for everyone. If you fall behind I have no qualms about leaving you to find your own way." And with that Kenia began swiftly setting the course. They had a lot of ground they needed to cover and she was motivated by her separation from her makeshift family. Even though she moved swiftly, if one were to pay attention they'd notice her foot falls were silent. She chose her course carefully and skillfully. She also tried to keep the breeze blowing towards them so if something were ahead of them those with a superior sense of smell would detect them before the enemy could smell the group. She was carefully calculating things and constantly scanning their surroundings as they moved along.

"Some may be more dependable than others." Kenia said in response to Zephyrin as her eyes glanced over to Elthrael. She doubted how dependable he would be. The man decided to leave the group last night and build himself a shelter. The lack of offering to build a shelter for all of them spoke a lot to Kenia about the type of person he was. He was selfish, that was very clear.

She'd turned back to her pack, going through it once more to take inventory of what she had as she listened to the others. At Elthrael's words towards her she considered for a moment hurling the throwing dagger she was glancing at in her pack at him, but Bowyn's words made her pause. She decided she liked this winter fairy. He could be blunt and had quite the sharp tongue. She enjoyed this much more than flowery words much like Elthrael liked to use. She'd have to thank Bowyn later for helping keep her from losing her temper.

"You caught me, Elthrael. I had QUITE an image in my head. You know I've always fantasized about castrating a man and feeding him his own balls and I couldn't help imagine you being the perfect candidate. Care to help me in fulfilling this fantasy?" She asked as she stood and slung her pack over her shoulder, giving the moth man a sadistic grin. Scarily enough there was something in her eyes that said she wasn't joking about this.

She then turned to Darius and her grin turned into an appreciative one. "That'll be very helpful, thank you Darius." She then glanced at everyone else, eager to get moving. "Shall we?" She asked, though truth be told even if they weren't ready she was going to start heading out shortly.

Apparently Elsea had really needed some sleep and hadn't realized it as the instant they got settled in the cave she fell asleep hard. There were no dreams that graced her that night nor were there nightmares. Just solid, heavy sleep. The stresses of the day...no, the stresses of the entire time she'd been in Avalia were beginning to take their toll so it was no surprise that she didn't hear either Cade or Corvina awake. She also didn't initially hear their talking either. What actually woke her was the smell of breakfast.

Her eyes opened and she lay there for a minute staring up at the ceiling of the cave. She blinked a few times as she tried to gain her bearings and that's when the voices of the other two began to register with her. She listened for a moment, taking note of someone in a tribe, feeling slight confusion as where she came from they no longer lived in tribes. Once they did, but now they were separated out into clans that were overseen by lairds and those lairds were overseen by a king. Where had this person they were talking about come from that still had tribes?

Then something else caught her attention and she found herself finally sitting up and looking to her companions, or more specifically, to Cora. "Where in the bloody hells is the United States of America?" She looked at the girl in complete and utter confusion, having never heard of this place before. She moved so she too was now sitting with them and noticed the food that was cooking. She glanced over to Cade who seemed to be the one that had caught the food and gave him a smile.

"Thank you for breakfast, it looks absolutely delicious." Elsea said as she grabbed some of the meat. She was no stranger to eating rat before, having done so multiple times back home. When times were hard you had to make do with whatever you could get your hands on and sometimes that required eating rats.

Torvi had been rather silent the entire night as they made their way through the slums. She only spoke when the need arose and even then it was simple responses to questions. When they would come across those that wished them harm she would assist Kuroi, taking notice that he preferred not to kill many of the guards. She didn't quite understand it, but she followed his lead there. There was no sense in upsetting the one who was leading them out of the city.

Now she stood on the street looking down and the entrance to the sewers. She hadn't really understood what a sewer was, but now that she could smell it she was piecing things together. While the smell was unpleasant, it didn't compare to the smell of a corpse that had been sitting for days in the summertime. That was a smell that had graced her nose quite a few times as she often was one to help prepare a body to be sent off to Valhalla.

As the others made their way into the sewers, the exhaustion apparent on everyone's faces, she remained above ground for a moment. She began ripping at the bottom of her dress, making stops of semi-clean cloth. Once she finished, Torvi tied one of the pieces around her face to cover her nose and mouth. The makeshift mask helped lessen the smell a bit and she hoped it would help the others as well.

She made her way down into the sewer and looked at her companions briefly. Everyone was worn out, Ayita and Kuroi especially it seemed. While she was feeling it as well and would be lying if she said she wouldn't enjoy taking a break, but she knew they needed to get out of there. She handed one of the strips of cloth to Ayita as she watched poor Kuroi collapse. She then moved to Baraian and held out the scrap of cloth as she listened to him speak and offer to help support one of them. "You will have to forgive me, but I will likely continue to be skeptical of you until it is absolutely proven to me that you mean no harm. It may be unfair, but it's hard to trust a dark elf when it seems like the rest of your people want me dead. I can not help but wonder if you have ulterior motives." She told him bluntly before moving on to Kuroi.

She did her best to help the man back up, using what little strength she still had before offering him the cloth and her own shoulder for support. "Perhaps if we support each other it'll give us just the right amount of strength to get us out of here and then we can rest a bit more comfortably." She offered him a weak smile, trying to be a little encouraging at least.

A battlefield. Bodies littered the ground. The sounds of weapons clashing sounded all around. The ground was soaked in the blood of all the races. This was the scene that Kenia stared at, completely confused. There was a sword in her right hand and a dagger in her left and she was completely soaked in blood. This was the rebels battling the lich king's forces. It wasn't clear who was winning and who was losing as both sides seemed to be losing many of their warriors. A panic came over Kenia as she knew she had to find the others. She had to make sure Malachi, Corvina, and Rei were alright.

As she moved through the sea of battle she caught sight of a familiar figure. When she'd known all her life, who was one of the first to ever love her. Her father was locked in battle with a dark elf, but another was coming up behind him. She moved quickly, running her sword through him and watching him drop. "Kenia what are you doing here? If you love them, you should be protecting them. You must find-" Nym's words were cut short as a sword burst through his chest and Kenia let out a scream in despair. Behind her father stood Airdan giving her a menacing grin. Hatred filled her as she sent a flurry of attacks at him.

The elven man let out a chuckle as he blocked every attack. "Why are you wasting your energy on me Kenia? Didn't you hear your father? Your precious loved ones are in danger." He then vanished and Kenia looked around in shock and confusion. Was he planning something? She had to find Malachi and the others. She began running, desperate now.

First she saw Rei, he was fighting that psycho human. She had to save him, but he was so far away. She ran as fast as she could, but then he turned and looked at her. "You failed me Kenia. Don't fail the others." The words cut deep and she wanted to vomit as she watched the human behead him. Anger filled her, but before she could attack there was Airdan again.

"You better hurry, little girl. You're running out of time." He was mocking her and she wanted to murder him for it, but now wasn't the time. She just grit her teeth and ran past him, fighting a few dark elves along the way until she saw Corvina next. The girl was battling some large demon and Kenia marvelled for a moment at her flames. She fought fiercely and Kenia felt a small bit of pride. She could see the exhaustion, however, and knew that her magic would fail her soon. Kenia pulled out a dagger and threw it at the demon. The weapon hit its mark, but did little at slowing the demon. That's when Malachi appeared and Kenia breathed a small sigh of relief. That relief was short lived, however, as she watched in horror as Malachi shot Corvina through the heart. How could he do such a thing?

As she got close she realized something was wrong, something was very wrong. Malachi's eyes were empty and glazed over. His skin was pale and as Kenia got to him and grabbed him he was cold. Malachi was dead. Her heart shattered and she realized she was losing everything she cared about again. It was all because she wasn't strong enough to protect them. She had to do better, had to be better. She needed to make them her priority. "Find us, before it's too late. Find me, Kenia." His empty eyes met Kenia's tear filled ones and she began to nod.

"I will. I promise you I will find you and Corvina." She told him as the dream began to fade and she could hear the sounds of people stirring from sleep.

Kenia merely peeked one eye open, watching as others silently got up. Bowyn began heading into the forest and Kenia would have been suspicious, however he was heading in the direction of the stream she also visited the night before while on watch. While she didn't entirely write it off, she could understand that perhaps he wished to bathe. She herself had done so while on watch as she'd been completely covered in blood. She'd also exchanged her dress for that of her common clothing as it was more practical to travel in.

Darius had gotten up and gotten moving, which she silently watched for a moment and noted he seemed bothered. He'd also used his magic to clean off his face which Kenia found to be quite useful. The way he appeared had her wondering if he two had a bothersome dream. Perhaps she'd ask him about it later. For now she can't ntinued to lay there, deciding there was no use in getting up yet until Bowyn had returned.

When the winter fae had returned, however, he seemed to not be alone. Kenia's hand silently went for the dagger hidden under her pack which she'd been using as a pillow. She made no move yet, however, as she waited to see what the others would do. How would they react to a stranger finding them? Perhaps this group was far too trusting as they seemed to welcome her into camp after her claim of merely being lost. Then again perhaps it had been the right move as the woman now knew they had a human. Keep your friends close, but your enemies closer right? There was no way to tell if she were friend or foe yet so Kenia would just keep an eye on the woman.

Kenia silently got up and began making sure stuff was packed up and ready to go while Elthrael did his little show for her. While Kenia knew well how the art of seduction could get someone to reveal secrets, there was a part of her that doubted that's what Elthrael was really trying to accomplish. Either way that was his prerogative and she really didn't care what he did in that department.

She turned to Bowyn once things were packed and gave him a thankful smile. "Thank you for catching us breakfast. I truly do appreciate it." While the smile was a little forced, her words were sincere. If he hadn't gone fishing then she wasn't sure what they would have ended up doing for breakfast. So having the fish was a major help.

"If you wish to continue trying to woo the newcomer so that you may bed her then that's fine, but you'll have to continue while we're on the road. We leave in fifteen minutes." She said as she turned to Elthrael, though the last part was directed at everyone. While she couldn't and wouldn't force anyone to follow, she was leaving in fifteen minutes and the others would have to make a choice to follow or not.

"Zephyrin, was it? While I don't care if you decide to join us, I will give you the same warning I've extended to everyone here. If you do anything to threaten the safety of this group, if you do something that puts us in danger, I will not hesitate to dispose of you. I'm not telling you this as some sort of fear tactic or threat to keep you in line. It's simply a fact and a promise." With that she gave the woman a grin and turned to take a fish to eat, but paused. "Oh and you can call me Kenia." She glanced over at her once again before turning back to the food and taking a bit to eat.

Kenia listened to the others speak, none of what they were saying truly phasing her. They were, however, doing a wonderful job at revealing to her what their true colors were. She’d definitely have to keep a close eye on them all. She put her dagger away and her sharpening stone before taking a drink of her alcohol. ”Everyone seems so quick to accept and blame Risa for bringing humans here, and perhaps there’s truth behind it. Here’s the problem I see, however, and these are the questions I’m asking myself. If she is so young, naive, and inexperienced could she truly be the one that orchestrated bringing all the humans here? That doesn’t seem like the work of someone with the description that’s been provided by the moth man, now does it? So perhaps she’s fooling us all into making us think she’s young and naive while in actuality she’s quite cunning. Or perhaps she’s being used as a pawn, having been convinced to take the blame when she didn’t have anything to do with it perhaps? That would be quite cunning on the puppet masters part as it could provide an opportunity to paint them in a better light as Risa is now painted the bad guy, wouldn’t you say?” The last question she turned her gaze to Elthrael with a look of suspicion since he was the one who had outwardly claimed he knew Risa and was painting her young and naive. She gave him a small smirk before sighing and shrugging.

”But those are just the questions I find myself asking and I supposed I won’t know the answers until we actually get to speak to her in person as Darius has said.” She said as she grabbed her pack and pulled a blanket out of it. ”That’s enough talk of this for me tonight. We all need to get some rest at some point, but we also need people on watch to make sure nothing sneaks up on us while we’re vulnerable. I’d like to have two to a watch at a time as two sets of eyes are better than one and two are more likely to keep each other awake. Darius and Bowyn, if you wouldn’t mind taking the first watch I would appreciate it. After you guys I’ll take watch with Elthrael and then after that I’ll also take the last watch with Vaeril as the last watch will be the shortest. That way everyone else can get some good rest and we’ll be ready to get moving at first light.” While it seemed like she was giving the group an opportunity to refuse watch, she really wasn’t about to take no for an answer. If they were to be in this group together then everyone needed to pull their own weight and that included being on watch. With that she moved to lay down and get what little rest she would allow herself in order to lead them all the next day.

”It is a pleasure to meet you Cade. Thank you for being willing to help us get to the port town, I truly appreciate your kindness.” Elsea thanked him with an appreciative grin as she looked over at Cora. She silently linked her arm with the other human as one would with a good friend as she indicated they should follow Cade. She glanced back at Cade as he spoke once more and gave him a sad smile. ”Sometimes one needs to see the darkest part of a world in order to see it needs saving. I myself have already decided I will do whatever I can to fight for Avalia and the wonderful people I’ve met here already.” She hoped her words would bring some sort of comfort to the cat man. So far she had a feeling that their group was going to get along splendidly.

Torvi had chosen to ignore Ayita now as it was clear she wasn’t about to see things from her view. While she agreed that risks needed to be taken, unnecessary risks weren’t and telling a whole crowd out in the open about the port town was an unnecessary risk to Torvi. It was merely inviting the same kind of danger they experienced tonight, if not worse, to what was to be their safe haven, but the woman either didn’t see that or didn’t care. So Torvi had to ignore her now and hope the warrior woman’s actions didn’t bring more trouble to them.

She gave Kuroi a smirk as he agreed to lead her through the slums to get out of there. ”I wouldn’t say I trust a stranger, but more I have confidence in my ability to kill a man if they prove to be dangerous.” There was a slight joking tone to her voice as she took the hand he had extended, but there was also truth and warning behind her words. She didn’t foresee, however, this man trying to cause her any harm. ”I wish to make it to that port town in hopes I can reunite with my companions. If you do not wish to go there I understand and I’ll be able to find my way once out of this city. So as long as you can lead me out of here I’d be ever grateful to you.” She explained to him, sincerity in her words.

Torvi glanced over at the dark elven man, having a little less trust for him purely due to the fact that he was a dark elf, but she didn’t say anything. He obviously knew Kuroi and so she had to at least trust a bit that he wasn’t entirely like other dark elves. She’d just keep her wits about her as she traveled with them. ”I’m Torvi and as long as I get out of this city I’ll be happy.” She said to the man as she began to follow the two, falling silent and following their directions.

They’d made it out of Roshmi without any further incident and thankfully everyone decided to remain quiet until they stopped to make camp for the night. It had given Kenia enough time to get completely past the blinding, maddening rage she had felt from finding Rei dead. There was still a deep sadness that gripped at her which she knew wasn’t going to fade anytime soon. In fact, she wasn’t sure if it would truly fade ever. She’d have to eventually tell both Malachi and Corvina about what happened as well and that fact made her heart crumble even more. Would she even be able to tell them? Had they survived the night's events? Gods she hoped they did. She didn’t know what her mental state would be if she’d lost them too this night.

Now she sat around the fire still in her blood soaked dress, sharpening one of her daggers as she also kept an eye on all her new companions. Trust was something she didn’t have in any of them as was the case when she met anyone new, but she had a mission to complete. The only one so far she felt might earn a small amount of her trust was the winter fairy, Bowyn, and his bird. So far he was the only one that seemed to be honest in his own distrust and that was something Kenia could respect in a person.

Her attention was pulled as the human, Darius, pulled out a memory glass and seemed to be looking at a memory. She glanced over at it, but her heart stopped for a moment as her eyes landed on a familiar figure. The rhythm of her blade sharpening faltered for a moment as she had to focus on staying calm. Did this man know Airdan? Now wasn’t the time to ask, that could come later on in their journey. Instead the moth fairy seemed to begin talking, saying something about how things didn’t always turn out like they did in fairytales. She couldn’t keep herself from scoffing at this. Wasn’t the events of tonight enough for that to be obvious? Why state it?

That’s when he mentioned Risa and now she was quite interested, curious about what he had to say about her as he seemed not too fond of her. He claimed she was too young and naive to be a ruler and this amused her to the point where she could be silent no longer. ”Well then if we go by your logic, fairy, then I suppose no fairy should become ruler of Avalia as you all appear as young children to an elf.” She said as she inspected her dagger and then glanced at Elthrael with a smirk. Even she was viewed as being very young in the eyes of some elves and yet she was the age of many of the fairy elders who were considered the wisest amongst their kind. If age and experience were what one wanted to base being “suitable” to rule off of then it should be an elf, demon, or devil who ruled these lands and no one else.

”You claim to know how each race would react, but tell me this, how much time have you spent with each race getting to know how they truly think? Asking how they’d react once Aklenroth were gone?” There was clear amusement on her face as she leaned forward on her knees, now engaged in this conversation. ”Then you speak of Risa Millinia, claiming to have met her and implying you know her intentions. You make it out like she wants to take Aklenroth’s place, however that isn’t true in the slightest. She merely wants to take back her birthright, become queen of the River Kingdom and nothing more. She made that clear in her speech tonight.” She kept her same entertained smirk as she idly twirled her dagger in her hand. This fairy seemed to have a lot to say, especially against Risa it seemed.

She leaned back a sighed a bit before continuing on. ”I suppose my point is why must there be a ruler of all Avalia? Why not allow the races to go back ruling themselves as they did before Aklenroth, but also have a syndicate of all the races to keep the peace? I remember a time before Aklenroth when the races ruled their own and there was relative peace and no war of crowns. I believe we need to go back to separate rulers of the races as no race is going to agree on one ruler of Avalia as they all will believe someone from their race should rule. That will cause a war of crowns and needs to be avoided.” Her eyes then fell on Darius and a curious question came over her.

”Tell me, Darius, how are things ruled where you come from? Is there one sole ruler over all or are there separate rulers?” She asked him, eager to find out what his home was like.

Interesting. So the girl wasn’t only unsure if her mother was in town or not, but she seemed concerned about it. Marius couldn’t help but wonder why she seemed to be so nervous upon the mention of Catherine. Did the girl finally escape her mother’s grasp for a bit? Finally got out to see a bit of the world? ”Worry not, I don’t actually know if your mother is in town. I’d only assumed that she may be since you’re here. Forgive me if I startled you.” He said to her, trying to calm her a little. He also took notice of the other dark haired woman walking towards them, standing up proud. As the woman gave him a knowing smile, he in turn gave her a coy smile of his own. He had no clue who she was, but she seemed rather interesting.

His attention was caught once more by Helene as she asked who he was, claiming he looked familiar. ”Marius Dupont at your service, Mademoiselle.” He introduced himself as he gave her a gentlemanly bow. ”We’ve only met a handful of times at your mother's estate. Apologies, I should not have expected you to remember someone like myself. It is hard, however, to forget someone as lovely as yourself.” He gave her his most charming smile, deciding befriending the daughter of the Sinclair Foundation’s leader wasn’t such a bad idea.

”If you don’t mind, might I inquire as to what brought you to Ember Grove? I hope you don’t think me rude, but your reaction to my earlier question makes me wonder if your mother knows where you are? If she doesn’t know I want to assure you I’m not going to be the one to rat you out. That secret will be safe with me, but I do also hope you’d allow you to look out for you a small bit. Elsea stared for a moment at the portal that had opened in the demon's chest, watching as small things got sucked in then slowly larger things. This wasn’t good, this wasn’t good at all. When would the hole stop sucking stuff in and how strong would it get? She definitely didn’t want to find out. She glanced over briefly at Malachi, then to Cora, then back to him as she mouthed ’I’ll get her to the port.’ She then heard Cade speak and gave him a grin before Cora led them the rest of the way out of the ball.

She watched the girl collapse onto the grass and let her do so for a moment, but it was obvious Elsea was eager to get further away from this building. She had no doubt that the demon would have the power to suck up the entire building and she wanted to be far from there when that happened. ”Well now we get out of Roshmi and make our way to the port, all while praying that our allies make it there safely as well.” She told the other human and then turned to Cade.

”I’m Elsea, by the way. Don’t think I’ve introduced myself yet. Do you by chance know a way out of this city so that we can possibly head towards the port?” She asked as she gave him a grateful smile for helping them get out of the ball.

The big black portal opening up in the demon's chest was something that Torvi had not been expecting. She watched as it began to suck things into its chest, the force of it slowly growing stronger. She then also noticed the stare that she got from the warrior woman, but it didn’t phase her one bit as she watched the woman go to help someone injured. While she understood trying to help as many as possible, Torvi also knew that as a human it was important to preserve her life if she wanted to help the greater Avalia. Unfortunately she knew that it meant that some of the very few injured that were still stuck inside would likely perish, but the loss of them in order to save herself could mean that Torvi would save many more in the future.

The demon bashed a hole in the wall now and she watched as Kuroi ran for it, urging them to also follow. She did, however she stood in the opening for a moment longer as she still watched the demon and watched the portal keep growing in power. The ground began to tremble, but she somehow managed to stay on her feet before turning and exiting the ballroom. She heard Ayita speaking again and she remained quiet as she watched her, shaking her head at the last bit she said. That’s when someone in the crowd yelled out at her, the person being of similar mind to those that Torvi had earlier killed. ”None of this would have happened if you humans wouldn’t have come here! This is your fault! You humans are a curse on this land!” He screamed angrily and a few more began to chime in, agreeing with him. It was time for Torvi to speak now.

”You all should leave from here, get further away! That demon is showing no signs of slowing and I fear he won’t stop sucking things up until the entire building is gone including things close to it! So go! If you’re a decent Avalian then help those injured as well!” She then moved up to Ayita and spoke softer to her.

”A word of caution, be careful what you say to this crowd and who you invite to the port. There are still enemies amongst this crowd and we don’t want to be the cause of them finding the safehaven of rebels.” She then walked away from her without another word, frustrated with several things that had happened this evening. She then approached Kuroi, her frustration apparent on her face. Both him and the woman spoke too much in a time that required action, but she tried to ignore that frustration.

”I do hope you know a way out of this city? I need to get to that port and make sure my friends are alright.” She asked him, her weapons she’d procured earlier still within her grasp.
