”I pray that I’ll remain level headed with my quest for vengeance.” Mika responded as she watched the area change to a rather poor district. She’d only ever been here once before when she met up with Éliane months ago. She took a moment to pull her hood back over her head and make sure that her belongings weren’t somewhere that could be easily stolen off of her. It hurt her heart a little to know that there were people in this city living this way and it seemed to be growing. Was this something she could help fix once she became queen? A moment of panic ran through as it had every time she’d thought about how she was now the heir. Would she be a good ruler? She doubted herself greatly.

She was pulled out of her thoughts as Kuroi took hold of her hand. She blinked in confusion for a brief second as she glanced at him and then down at their hands. She quickly realized it was so they didn’t get separated and so he could protect her. She felt the bandages and briefly wondered what had happened. Perhaps she’d ask him later, for now she needed to focus and keep her wits about her. Thankfully they were actually heading in the direction she needed to go. She’d listened to him speak and decided that she would inform him later that they wouldn’t have to travel all the way to the Sun Elf Kingdom to meet with Rosaria. In fact, she was eagerly awaiting a transmission from the elven princess on the bracelet she wore to inform her that things were a success and she was heading out.

Finally she saw the sign for the Nest and was about to direct Kuroi that direction, but he pulled her towards it anyways. He apologized for stopping there and she almost giggled, but controlled herself. ”It’s perfectly fine, I needed to come here anyways. Remember, I’m supposed to be meeting a contact? Come on.” She said with a small smirk as she nodded towards the door of the tavern before moving towards it herself. She moved silently as she moved through the doors. She gazed out from under her hood, scanning the room to see if she recognized who Rosaria sent to meet her before moving to sit at an empty table while continuing to search the room.

Mika remained quiet, allowing Kuroi to speak his peace. Well he wasn’t about to immediately return her to the palace, that was a relief at least. She almost let out a sigh of relief even, but instead she just focused on calming her trembling. ”You are perceptive.” She said, though it came out as a compliment. While her family was often very overprotective of her, they weren’t very perceptive. She often felt invisible unless her presence mattered to someone else. It was partially why she’d been able to overhear some of her father’s plans.

She could feel his eyes looking her over, evaluating her, but she easily ignored it. While she was ignored by her family, if she was out at a party or anything she’d grown quite used to people looking her over whether out of jealousy, admiration, or something else. It was just something that came with the position she was born into. She was a little shocked, however, when Kuroi expressed that he was not interested in training her for compensation sake. She’d even turned to look at him, surprise evident on her face as he said this. Too often people were more interested in what they could gain from her rather than showing interest in her.

”You surprise me.” She stated once he was completely done speaking, a small smile forming on her lips as she gathered her thoughts. ”I appreciate your concern for my well being. It’s...refreshing, to say the least.” She then sighed as she glanced back briefly at the palace that was getting further and further away. ”If I would have stayed within the palace I fear I would have been an even easier target. If Dark Elves descended on that palace right now my father would welcome them with open arms. He’s far more concerned for his own life than he is for the rest of us that live there.” For a brief moment anger flashed in Mika’s eyes. She fell silent again for a minute in order to compose herself once more.

”While I’m surprised that you are still willing to take me on as a student, I am grateful. While I consider myself to have more skill than the average person, I am not naive. There will always be more I can learn and I am determined to learn.” She glanced over a Kuroi for a moment as she became very serious. ”War is upon us, however, and while I do wish to continue training, there are other things that I must focus on as well.” She now glanced around again, weary of listening ears once more.

”You are correct, I was not coming to see you though the thought had crossed my mind to see if you would be willing to assist me. Leaders are needed for this war and the Light Elves have asked for my assistance. I am on my way to meet with someone they’ve sent to serve as extra protection for me before heading to meet with Princess Rosaria and the humans she hopefully has in her company.” She spoke in a low whisper, paranoid that someone would overhear her as this was very sensitive information. ”I also won’t lie to you, I’m out for blood. I will see to it that those who captured and killed my brother will suffer and pay for what they’ve done.” The scene of her brother’s death played out in her mind once more and she didn’t realize her fists were clenched tightly in anger. She took a slow, deep breath to calm herself once more.

This man was a good man, that's all that kept running through Mika's mind as Kuroi helped her out. She would owe him big time for this, she would not forget this. Once the guards apologized and left back to their posts, Mika obeyed and moved towards Kuroi. She also motioned for him to continue walking with her as she flinched at his statement. "Let me preface everything by informing you that if you disagree with what I'm about to tell you and you wish to turn me in I will accept this. I will not fight you as I do not wish for you or your family's name to be tarnished in any way." Was this the best way to begin a conversation? No, it definitely wasn't, but this man deserved honesty and needed to know he had a choice.

"Some will view my plans as treasonous, but I have reasoning behind my actions. I am meeting with someone who is gathering a rebellion to take down the Dark Elf twins. I have been working with them for a while from the shadows, but after what happened last night and knowing how my father plans to handle things I can no longer remain in the shadows." Mika kept her voice low as she spoke so only he could hear, all too aware of the potential of hidden ears. She glanced around briefly, before continuing.

"My father is a coward, he wishes to negotiate peace with the Dark Elves even if that means handing the kingdom over to them. He would allow all of us to become slaves in order to save his own skin. I cannot stand aside and watch as my people lose their freedom, to become little more than livestock to those elves. I cannot let the death of those, the death of my brother, go unpunished." She glanced sideways at Kuroi, knowing this was likely a lot to take in. She was so afraid he was going to get angry with her and turn her in. Could she blame him, though? She was dragging him into something huge.

"I need to be stronger, I know this. If you are still willing, I would be ever grateful to you for training me. I will make sure you are well compensated for it. If this is something you wish not to be involved in then I understand. I have a letter that will clear your name and prove you knew nothing of this. I will make sure everyone is aware that you were merely a pawn and had nothing to do with my schemes, you have my word." Now all Mika could do was wait for his reaction. She tried to keep a brave face, but she couldn't completely hide her trembling.

Okay, cool! Thank you very much! I think I'm leaning towards the Elvish blademaster. Kind of like Bladesinger/College of Sword vibe from DnD?

Ooo I like this idea! That could definitely be something that could work I think.

Raven was finally taking a moment to look around at all the others in the room. There seemed to be many different elves, but then she spotted a...dragonborn? Okay, no, she was in Faerun then. Did she really just walk into a D&D campaign? It seemed like she and these other humans were supposed to be the heroes too. She now began to look over the other humans in the room, first examining a girl who seemed to be on a beanbag chair and drawing. She’d yet to notice what was going on. Then there was a guy in a beanie who seemed to be smoking a blunt. Damn, she could use some of that right now. There was another man who was very pretty looking and rather unique. He was rather intriguing to her. Then her eyes wandered over to the man who was introducing himself to one of the elven princesses. He was very tall, but that wasn’t uncommon for Raven as many people seemed to be taller than her. He also seemed to be merely in his underwear. He also seemed to be very well built and-Shit! Why am I still staring at him?! Her cheeks turned bright red as she quickly looked away and down at the ground, trying to hide the blush on her face.

She listened to the words spoken around her, but she kept staring at the ground until she was positive her face was a normal color once more. Apparently they had some sort of powers? What kind of powers were those? Saoirse grabbed her attention before she could ask, however, as the girl seemed to be laughing at the fact that they were called heroes. She gave her a scolding look that seemed to say “really?” before looking back to the ones that had summoned them. Caelan seemed to beat her to the question, but then the unique looking man pulled out a dagger and started yelling at them. Raven blinked at him in confusion. ”What? No, I’m not Spanish..er...at least I don’t think I am? I really don’t know, I haven’t done a DNA test or anything…” She trailed off as she realized she was just rambling.

Saoirse then asked her if they were tripping and mentioned LSD which merely had Raven rolling her eyes and shaking her head. ”No, but that guy over there has a blunt and I’m seriously considering asking him to share.” She whispered to her with a small laugh, but that hope was quickly slashed as Princess Annya put the blunt out and Raven gasped in horror. That was so totally NOT cool. She didn’t have time to say anything, however, as the ground cracked beneath Caelan and Raven immediately became alert and alarmed. What the hell just happened? She couldn’t even focus on the food that had been pulled out or the fact that Saoirse was telling her to try some.

Another elf brought in clothing for them all, but then addressed the group and Raven could feel herself shrinking back as the man was very intimidating. She silently moved over to the cart with clothes and looked through them with the half naked man, making a point not to look at him in case her face betrayed her again. She finally settled on one outfit and held it in her arms as Princess Annya went around securing ears on people. She got to Raven and seemed pleased by the ears already on her head. Once she was finished Raven raised her hand. ”U-umm is there somewhere we can go to change our clothes?” She asked, hoping they weren’t expecting her to change right there in front of everyone. She wasn’t wearing the proper undergarments for such a thing.

The argument continued between Mika and the guard with the guard beginning to lose his patience. ”Hey. HEY! Let me go! I order you to let me go!” She yelled at the guard while trying to yank her arm away from him, but he had a firm grip.

”My orders come from your father currently, not you. I’m sorry, Highness, but this is for your own good.” He said as he began dragging her back towards the castle, but a voice caused them both to stop and look back to the gate. There stood a vulpine man who seemed to be fairly close in age to Mika. She blinked at him as she registered what he was saying, but thankfully she was much faster than this guard. She looked at the guard triumphantly as she slapped his arm off of her.

”The honor is all mine, Master Usagi.” She said as she bowed respectfully to him. As she stood back upright, she decided to pull the hood of her cloak down and the mask off. She gave Kuroi a thankful smile as she moved back towards the gate.

”Now if you’ll excuse me, I wish to take a walk with Master Usagi.” She was almost free and she owed it all to Kuroi, but then there was another wrench thrown into her plans as the two guards moved to follow her. ”Respectfully, Your Highness, we shall be following you for your protection.” Irritation crossed Mika’s face once more and she almost looked murderous. She closed her eyes and calmed herself before turning on the guard once more.

”Are you insinuating that the son of Master Akane Usagi isn’t equipped to protect me?” She then turned to Kuroi. ”What are your thoughts on this insult, Master Usagi?” Her eyes pleaded for him to help her lose these two and held the promise of an explanation.

The Devil's Dancefloor

In the corner of a small cell sat a red haired woman, messing with the finger bone of some poor soul who'd died in the cell before her and was left to be picked clean by the rats. Lizzie had briefly wondered if she, too, was to suffer the same fate as that man...or woman, it was hard to tell when there was no flesh on the bones anymore. It had already been a month since she and the crew had been captured and, while they informed them their trial was in a week, it looked like there was no end in sight. They said it was a "trial", but Lizzie knew they would immediately be walking to the gallows. At least Maria had escaped that gruesome fate, though she suffered a fate almost as bad. Fever had taken her and she lasted a week before she drew no more breath. It shattered Lizzie's heart, but she was relieved she wouldn't have to see the woman hanging from a noose.

In the cell next to her sat Patton, the captain of the ship and the damned fool that allowed them to get captured. He'd allowed all to get drunk on the ship, including himself, and so when the Royal Navy came for them they couldn't even fight. Lizzie and Maria were the only ones smart enough to not drink themselves silly and thus were the only able-bodied ones to fight, and put up a fight they did. It was all for not, though, as they were now here.

She tossed the finger bone away from her and sighed as she glanced up at the small barred window. It would be night soon and they'd be one day closer to death. Suddenly there was a bright light within her cell and Lizzie had to shield her eyes for a moment. She grasped the bars beside her as she felt it pulling her in. What was happening? Was that a...portal? What luck she had! She began moving towards the portal, not wanting to look a gift horse in the mouth, but a familiar voice made her pause. "Lizzie! Lizzie, my darling, don't leave me here! Find a way for me to get through that portal too!" She glanced back at Patton and let out a laugh. Really? She grinned at him now.

"No, Captain, I don't think I will. If you would have fought like a man, you wouldn't be about to die like a dog." With that she turned on her heel and went through the portal.

The familiar sound of seagulls hit her ears as she shielded her eyes from...pink sunlight? How strange. The smell of saltwater was comforting as well, but what alarmed her was the two figures standing in front of her. They looked pretty normal at first glance, but then she noted their ears. What in the hell were these creatures? As if on cue, they began speaking. "Welcome to Avalia, human. You were summoned here because you're kind holds great powers and you can help us defeat a terrible foe. If you help us, then we will send you back home." Lizzie seemed to stand there and nod for a moment, as if really contemplating their words.

"I hear what you're saying and it's all fascinating, really it is, but I've just got one thing to say." She'd been scanning the area she was in for a moment to get her bearings. She seemed to be behind a small building and there were some alleyways to her right. "Fuck that." She took off running for the alley and heard the elves shouting behind her. They were definitely pursuing her and she needed a plan. She darted down another alley, ignoring all the strange creatures she passed as she did so. She rounded a corner and immediately saw a woman walking and not paying attention. Perfect. She grabbed the woman's wrist, yanking the sword out of her grasp as she did so and pulled her into the alley.

"Shhh, don't struggle, darling. I truly don't want to hurt you, but I need your assistance. Cooperate and all shall go smoothly." Lizzie freed the sword and now had it placed against the woman's neck as she heard the elves approaching. She turned herself and Éliane to face the duo as they entered the other end of the alleyway. They immediately halted and held up their hands.

"Here's how this is going to go. You're going to leave this alley and leave me be. It's quite simple really. If you don't comply I'll slit her throat. Does this make sense?" They seemed to debate amongst themselves for a moment and Lizzie decided to start counting. She hit two and finally they agreed, backing away and disappearing. After she was sure they were gone she decided to speak to the woman again.

"Alright, love, a few things. First, what other weapons are you carrying? No person with a weapon carries only one. Two, what valuables do you have? I've unfortunately got nothing on me and was hoping you could rectify that problem. And three, where can I...acquire a ship?" She only slightly eased up on her grip, waiting for the woman's reply before letting her go, but keeping the sword in hand.

Just stay out of my way, I came for blood…

Music filled the ballroom of the Roshmi palace as men and women dressed in fine clothes and jewelry danced and conversed with one another. A white haired wolf demi-human girl sighed as she sipped on some wine and watched people dance. Of course her parents were throwing a ball the night before Soller. They’d be throwing another tomorrow night as well once Itsuki got home from his trip, wherever the hell that was. Her brother was always out and about, traveling to different places for parties and all sorts of revelries while Mikazuki was stuck at home. She’d never even left Roshmi unless it was for political things or parties. Why she was always so sheltered she’d never know, but at least she was able to sneak out once in a while for a few hours.

Suddenly a large image of the Dark Elf twins filled the room as Basilian’s voice boomed through the hall. Everyone stopped and stared in confusion, but then there was a scene that made Mika’s blood turn to ice. Four figured knelt on the ground, almost all of them she recognized, but her eyes were glued on one in particular. It was Itsuki. Her heart was pounding in her chest, panic rising as she realized what was happening. She heard her mother scream out and the rest of the room erupt in chaos as Itsuki’s throat was slit open. She watched as the life drained from her brother’s eyes, then she was looking at the twins once again. Had that really just happened?

Suddenly Mika was surrounded by guards and she was being ushered out of the ball room, as if there was some sort of threat to her currently. She followed, feeling absolutely numb as she was escorted to her room. She was the heir now and she needed to be protected at all costs.

The palace was in absolute chaos and Mika was confined to her room the next day. She’d gotten over her shock and was now angry. She wanted, no, she NEEDED revenge and she’d be damned if she wasn’t going to get it. She was supposed to meet with her new teacher today, Kuroi Usagi, the son of Akane, but that was going to have to wait. She needed to get out of Roshmi and make her way to the Sun Elf Kingdom where she knew they were summoning human’s.

For a while now, Mika had been in contact with some elven rebels and was doing what she could to aid in the rebellion while staying in Roshmi. She’d gained trust with them and was informed of the plan to summon humans, a plan she was mildly worried about. How would they ensure that the humans would help them? What motive would they have? It was now time to join the rebellion instead of working from the shadows as she had been previously.

She shoved essential supplies into a pack before strapping her katana and wakizashi to her back. She threw a few other things into the pack before pulling a mask over her face and throwing a cloak on. She couldn’t slip out the front door of her room, as it was being heavily guarded, so she needed to go out the window. Only issue with that was the fact her room was on the fourth floor. Lucky for her, she was able to stash 50 ft of rope in her room. She secured the rope around herself and looped the rope around her heavy bedpost. In theory it should hold her weight...at least she hoped. She then dropped the rest of the rope out the window. With one last check to make sure everything was secured, Mika took a deep breath and slowly eased herself out the window.

After a couple minutes she made it on top of a small bit of roof, the first checkpoint. Now she just had to make it down one more story. She untied the rope, bundled it back up, and shoved it in her pack before slowly beginning to shuffle towards the edge. The roof was slicker than she'd expected and she slipped, sliding down the roof. She gasped, grasping for anything she could. Finally she got a purchase on the gutter of the roof as she went sliding off the edge. It took everything in her to hold on as she dangled over the edge. She was now staring into the study where her mother sat, weeping. She hadn't noticed her quite yet and Mika needed to move fast. She was about eight or nine feet off the ground still and she took a deep breath before she let go. She did her best to roll in order to not injure herself, though it still hurt.

Mika quickly got herself up off the ground and looked towards the gates. There were some people heading out, if she was quick enough she could use them as a disguise to slip out. Silently she ran towards the group, keeping her head down as they began passing the guards. She was just beginning to feel confident that she'd made it when the guards grabbed her arm. "Now where do you think you're going, Princess Mikazuki?" The guard who'd watched her grow up asked, under orders to stop her at any costs. Irritation ran towards her as she looked at him.

"Uhh...I'm heading to my lesson with Ms. Akane's son and you're going to make me late." There was very clear irritation in her voice and only received a chuckle.

"Is that so? Why weren't we informed about this then?" Of course this wasn't going to be easy...
