Nyx Nebula

"Tsk." came from Nyx's mouth just before she regained control of her body.
It was only once she did that she noticed the other people around were now frozen in place, as if time around her had stopped.
Check the clocks.
So she did. Nyx turned towards the nearest clock and watched as the voice counted upwards to sixty. But there was no movement on the digital screen.
Looks like someone has stopped time, somehow. Get outside.
Nyx ran as fast as she could towards the nearest exit, and soon found herself outside, where she watched a car pass by and many people standing around, confused.
Of course. Nobody can stop time, not fully. I wonder if this is a Geass, or something else entirely.
Oh so you know about magic existing too, good to know.
I suppose one could think of it that way.
What do you mean by that? You literally said 'geas,' that's a type of magic.
We can discuss this later, right now we need to focus on surviving.
Nyx ducked back into the center, when the animalistic voice in her mind spoke.
Hear. Hear something. Listen.
Good idea. If everyone is frozen but us, then any movement you hear is an enemy.
So she did. She listened intently to her surroundings, hoping to hear footsteps or speech with her enhanced hearing.

Everyone should get into MILGRAM.
Fallen Angel

"Comms squad, listen close. Here's how we'll do the attack run. Heavy kinetic cannons're our biggest problem, so knock them out first. Following that, pick targets of opportunity, but try to focus on the MAs if you can. I'll take the lead and draw their fire. FA, you'll follow after and clean up while they're distracted. Watcher, you've got free reign to go wild. Everything clear? Good. Break!"

Oh thank the gods, something easy. Stel thought as the commands from Banshee came through. In the few moments since launching, she'd gotten a bit more into the groove of things, now that her stomach had calmed down from the roll and her mind adapted to the situation. There was only one problem.

"I told you we're not playing cleanup here, Stel."

"I don't think that what you mean by that is what she means by that."

Adam seemed to be about to respond when Watcher single-handedly collapsed the platform the cannon that Adam had intended to draw the fire of, and Banshee took out a kinetic cannon and an enemy Mobile Armor. Stel barely had time to process what had happened before Platzragen's attack took down the antenna and an entire squad of MAs. She blinked, and something inside her snapped.

As if it could predict Stel's next words, Adam spoke up. "Diverting power from Brimstone. Switching targets from enemy weapons to enemy Mobile Armors. Non-lethal combat approved, since I know you'll try for it anyway."

"Perfect. Listen up. We're going to get down there and save a few lives."

Red Power took a diagonal beeline straight for the sole pack of MAs that had been left alone by the other two AUGs, moving at speeds that would put most other mechs to shame. Stel found herself holding her breath as she dove towards her target, only breathing out when she nearly hit the ground and pulled herself and her AUG horizontal. Unfortunately for them, most of the MAs didn't notice her before getting their heads and weapons cut off by her high-vibration blade. Much more fortunately for them, none of them took fatal damage from the attack, leaving most of them in barely more than an intact cockpit. But one of them did notice, and had already put up a rather sad, small shield on its left arm. Red Power simply thrust through it, the vibrating tip of its sword cutting through the metal with ease, and further still until it hit the MA's power source, cutting it out from its innards in a few simple strokes like a master butcher.

"That's all I'm picking up in this area. Take a minute to calm down and get prepared for a counterattack." Adam told its pilot as it redirected power back to its Gatling, and Stel returned them to the sky. Maybe their first real mission wouldn't turn out in the disaster she had expected.
Nyx Nebula

Nyx, over in the Fantasy section, could only just hear the fighting thanks to Dorumon's enhancing of her senses. She happened to have stopped near an area for a medieval game.
Hey, Nyx.
Huh? That was the first time that this voice had ever called her by her name. Um... what is it?
Lemme borrow your body for a second.
What? Um... okay, but how?
I'm not exactly clear on that either, but just relax and if you feel your body moving, don't try to stop it.
Uh... okay?
It took a few moments, but soon the voice was in control of most of Nyx's body. And so she walked in and grabbed a replica bow and an arrow, against the commands of the ones running the booth. "Calm down, I just want to see how well this works before I consider buying it." the inner voice said from Nyx.
I'll bite, what are you doing?
Bite!
Not literally, of course.
Showing you why I'm called 'Archer.'
You're called 'Archer?' You never told us that.
Well, I have now.
Nyx felt her body drop to one knee as she pulled the arrow to notch on the bow. Sure, it was just plastic, but it would serve "Archer's" purposes. A moment passed as she took aim. "Excuse me, but get out of the way, please." Nyx heard herself say to those standing in front of her. Luckily, they did move and she could see with her enhanced eyesight that there was someone missing an arm on the center stage.
What's going on? Who is that?
I'm about eighty-percent sure that's our target.
You're going to shoot someone you're only eighty-percent sure is who you should be shooting?
Relax, it's a plastic arrow.
And with that, Nyx fired the arrow at breakneck speeds towards Lucian, aiming to embed it in his shoulder.

New plan, get away from the psychotic child with lightning blasts.
Seconded.
BITE!
Do not bite the girl who throws around lightning!
We're very lucky that she missed, and that nobody seems to be panicking. I wonder if there's something to that?
Ugh... this was getting really bad. Nyx decided to follow the advice of the old man and turned towards the Fantasy games section. Maybe she could find something there to help? An Excalibur or something to vanquish the evil guy... Or at least something cool to look at while the others did the fighting with their superpowers, or whatever they had.

And suddenly they were back in the food court. Immediately the scents of food started to overwhelm her. Something was different. It was as if leaving that "Expanse" place had sharpened her senses immensely. Willing to bet that's Bitey's doing. Nyx listened as the other girl, the goth, told her a plan. Wrong plan. Listen, we were told the old man knows where to look. Don't lose sight of him. Also, don't assume it'll be someone 'important' either, it could be the assassination of a regular person that sets other things in motion. As these thoughts went through her head, Nyx followed the gaze of the other girl to the ceiling. She wasn't confident she'd be able to stop a killing, but at least she was armed, unlike most the people in the convention. Scarlet was talking to a younger girl who seemed to have noticed them reappearing, unlike most people around them. Did that make this girl the problem? Or an ally? Nyx decided to listen to her inner voices and stay close to the old man for now.
"Do I have something on my face?"

This was too perfect a secret on a few levels to not be the one.

Acid Drop wore a smile, because nothing else would work in the moment, as she listened to her partner's most recent shipping fantasies. It was always a new set of reasonings. Maybe if she cared about romance, she'd pay more attention, but as it was, she only did the minimum. It was only when Suki mentioned the arcade game that she started really listening again. Maybe they could beat it, it would certainly be something to look into someday, if only to get in what little practice with aiming that the game could give.

But then they arrived at the meeting place, and the instant Suki walked away, the light in Acid Drop's eyes died, leaving her with a rather blank expression. She wasn't emotionless, in any sense of the word, but she had used up enough effort being interested in things for the day. Plus, the shock from nearly being crushed earlier was taking its toll and making her even more tired, and by extension bored, than usual. The "tension" between Suki and Roche might have interested her otherwise. Then the new girl had to go and ask them to fight for where they'd eat. Wasn't it supposed to be her decision? Did fighting for where to eat fall under that clause? Tsubomi allowed herself to turn back to her mundane form and hunch slightly to her normal stature, ready to eat where the three eventually decided on.

At least she didn't have to pretend to be normal in her "normal" form.

Nyx blinked. "Powers?" "Past lives?"

-Inside-
"Oooooh, that makes so much sense! Except why and how did this mess of things end up being a lineal chain?"
"Much more importantly, why did none of us think to try using our abilities through our current landlord?"
"It's not like we've been busy trying to console a teenager who lost her family instead of training, or anything."
"Touche."
"I don't want to serve these things."
"They're claiming it's not quite 'service,' so you should be fine."
"I don't think we have much choice, Bitey."

-Outside-
Nyx cocked her head to the side. "Okay, well, that seems... plausible, if unlikely. What do we need to do to actually stand a chance?"
Fallen Angel

Stel only had a few precious moments to catch her breath after that misstep before she started hearing everyone launch around her.

"Landing zone clear!" she heard. Already!? It hadn't even been five minutes since they got their team confirmations!

With panic clear on her face, she reached for the switches that would start up a standard Angel, but her hands only brushed against air. Most of her AUG's controls were redundant backups anyway, Adam controlled the vast majority on its own. In fact, the only thing she really needed to know were what was right in front of her... the controls for direct piloting. She reached shaky hands forward to wrap around them, and naturally her body shifted weight to fit the odd manner of sitting that the AUG required.

"Looks like you're ready. Finally."

Stel was not ready, by any means. But she heard the next messages come through. "Watcher in formation, scanning for patrols or other targets." She was slowing everyone down. Maybe that was for the best? Her AUG was flashy, if she launched too soon she'd give them all away in an instant, but if she took too long...

"L-l-laun-" she managed to stammer out before being interrupted.

"Launching." came Adam's voice to nobody but its pilot.

Luckily, nobody else would hear Stel's indecision, though those watching the hangar would probably figure it out anyway. Just after Adam made its proclamation to its pilot, the AUG stood completely from its one-kneed stance and began careening forwards from its regular thrusters firing behind it. Stel didn't feel so much as a lurch in her cockpit, but she felt one in her stomach nonetheless as the sight of the heights she was falling from filled her vision. Maybe this was a bad idea.

She was about to voice a complaint when Adam plagiarized her voice and spoke on the comms for her. "FA, launch complete. Will stay up here to draw fire until we have some targets." And true to its word, the Red Power would stay floating a few dozen kilometers away from it's designated landing zone and just high enough to draw the attention of anyone or anything protecting the comms systems of their target, hopefully giving Watcher enough data to target from.

That was not okay. The instant the comms shut back down she spoke up."Adam, what the hell!? Don't go talking as or for me, I'll tear you a-" she managed before Red Power did a spin that, while not physically affecting her body's equilibrium, did cause her screens to barrel roll and make her nearly puke.

"Then learn to talk for yourself."
Nyx Nebula

As she found herself in the Expanse, the hair on the back of Nyx's neck stood up. The things that surrounded them seemed pleasant, but something about them threw her off. Suddenly there was a commotion in her mind again.

-Mentally-
Far from the usual "bite" command, the voice responsible for the idea growled. It felt something wrong here, and it was likely what was generating Nyx's own feelings of anxiety. It wasn't that it believed that these entities were evil, so much as personally counter to its happiness. Maybe it had experienced relations with a similar group?
Similarly, the calmest voice did not relax either, though did not take an actively hostile stance like the other. "Take care around these," it counseled Nyx. "Even if they have nothing but the best interests of yours at heart, they are powerful, and powerful beings are dangerous by their nature."
Nyx could only agree within her mind. She felt overwhelmed by these entities, but there was no active hostility from them.

-Outside-
The spokesman for the beings told the group of ancient versions of their world and of a threat to their current one. Cthulhu? Elder Gods? None of it made any sense, even for the girl who heard voices.

-Mentally-
"Think. If what we're being told is true, then these are likely the 'current' gods."
"And what, exactly, are we supposed to do about a Great Old One like Cthulhu? We're collectively a teenage girl, there's not a lot of stories of even powerful people beating Old Ones. If we try to fight it, we'll die."
The third voice continued growling, ignoring the other three who could hear it.

-Outside-
"Um..." Nyx spoke aloud. "That's terrible and all, but... what are we supposed to do about it? We're two teenagers and one adult, but you think we can stop something that can destroy the world?" Her demeanor suddenly switched, seemingly out of her control. "And if you want us to 'represent you,' then shouldn't you tell us who you are first?" As soon as the last word was out of her mouth, her attitude returned to its normal, currently distressed and overwhelmed state.
