Current I think watching fight scenes can help in general terms with writing combat, since it can give you an idea of flow and choreography.

At least if you're writing something you know, with knights.

I mean, depends on what you're writing, and the tone and theme of what you're writing. Trained armored knights were legitimately monstrous on the battlefield, so looking up how they fought helps.

As much as there's a lot of reasons twitter sucks, I genuinely don't want to see it die for the sake of all the artists who now rely on it. Hoping the shithead stops trying to directly administrate.

"Tch, that's... I did my job plenty! I crushed dozens of those ugly pigs, how dare you say I didn't do my job!"

Clarice was clearly not used to this situation, especially given she was quite convinced she had contributed plenty. Why apologize when she was responsible for the deaths of so many of the enemy?

To the curse mage, it simply didn't make sense.

As their head was returned, Haelstadt raised it and placed it back upon their neck. There was a strange, fleshy sound, and after a few moments it appeared to be reattached.

Without speaking, the black knight bowed their head to signify their thanks, before swiftly returning to Veilena's side.

"Hmph, you should have just stayed still. It's not like you were going to find your head on your own, you know..."

While the battle had been won, they hadn't found the shard.

And their only clue was that white mask.

It had been a day since they returned to Candaeln.

The prisoners were being interrogated, as she understood. Most of them were bound for the gallows, but at least they were given the opportunity to repent for their sins and die in peace.

Lady Veilena had insisted her actions were not in error, though Fanilly wondered if she really meant that or if she was too proud to admit she had made some mistakes. Either were equally likely, when it came to the prodigy mage.

On top of all of this, they would have to speak with the mages. After all, they had apparently been hinding a shard of Angroron. A dangerous artifact with the potential for untold wickedness. Who could be seeking such a thing?

Fanilly had the faintest idea.

A white mask, with a staring eye...

It didn't sound familiar to her at all. But it was their only lead.

Initially, she had desired to head to the library and carry out some research. Candaeln's library was, after all, said to be second only to that of the Mage Academy.

But as it turned out, the Knight-Captain could not focus on such things. Perhaps it was some level of stress and worry.

Maybe this was the reason she found herself in Candaeln's garden, among the splashes of purples, blues, reds, and yellows, trying to sort her thoughts out.

It was a bright, sunny day, the warmth of Reon's light reaching down to her, and yet she could not simply enjoy it.

But nor could she easily focus on performing further research.

It was a frustrating state of mind.

  • Name: Lily
  • Gender: Female
  • Appearance: A young child with pale skin and mostly-white hair. However, there are some dark streaks in her hair, now.
  • Personality: While she is physically frail, Lily possesses a strong spirit. She has a powerful willingness to help others, even at the expense of herself. Kind and willing to try and see the good of even a terrible situation, it's this mentality that helped her navigate the decayed and blighted kingdom of Land's End. Indeed, having seen no small share of horrors in spite of her thus far short existence, she's rather difficult to frighten. However, she can be a bit nervous in social situations, having had low contact amounts of contact with people outside of her spirits. Still, she'll try her best to interact with people. While monsters are unlikely to scare her, sudden loud noises can still make her jump or remind her of particularly unpleasant experiences, so she doesn't handle people with are prone to such behavior the best(even if she tries not to be angry with them). Still, Lily is the type of person who, in spite of her lack of social experience, will try to see the good in others if she has the opportunity and attempt to make friends.

At the same time, her experiences have also given her a somewhat harder edge: There's little hesitation in regards to having to fight. She may be a child, but facing the horrors of the Blight head on have given her the resolve to do what she must, even if she is likely to shy away from the sight of one of her summoned spirits slaying an enemy. She also possesses a curious streak, often investigating anything that seems to stand out as slightly unusual or unexpected and trying to understand it or see what it could be hiding. Given her numerous experiences with secrets and hidden doors, this is really no surprise. Recently, she has grown a little more frustrated with her own inability to speak, but the Umbral Knight's willingness to assist her mitigates this somewhat.

She is grateful towards all of her summonable spirits, and dislikes seeming them harmed even though such harm isn't lasting. And indeed, she is still a child of perhaps 9 or 10 at most, and is thus naive of many things outside of her experience. She can also be a little too trusting in some ways, having had little experience with anyone in control of their faculties who would deceive her.
  • Brief History:
  • Universe of Origin: Ender Lilies
  • Equipment: Lily carries little on her person, save for a number of small jewels and rings that assist her in small ways(such as strengthening her barrier or making it less tiring to repair it herself). Chief among these is the Luminant Aegis Curio, a blue and silver amulet hanging from Lily's neck that is responsible for her near totally pure state, in spite of how many people she purified herself.
  • Abilities: Lily is a fragile little girl who possesses no personal offensive abilities of her own. Her only personal defense is a magical barrier, that can be broken and completely shattered with sufficient impact. She can restore it, but it is somewhat draining to do so and thus she can only do so a handful of times without rest. Additionally, she can also harden it and make it more sturdy, allowing her to deflect attacks and open enemies up for attack. Without her barrier, she has very little ability to endure harm and a single strike is likely to take her out.

Lily's main offensive ability is summoning spirits, who also grant her some other abilities such as a speedy evasion or some measure of hovering capability. Most prominent among these spirits is the Umbral Knight, an armor-clad figure wielding a sword. The Umbral Knight speaks with an androgynous, but somewhat feminine voice, and beneath the helmet is an equally androgynous face with short, dark hair. Pretty, but displaying clear signs of being extremely worn down. Still, the Umbral Knight gladly defends and assists Lily, not only in battle but also in helping her interact with others as she is unable to speak. Among her spirits are a raven that attacks with orbs of magical energy, a hammer-wielding winged nun, a black-dressed witch with numerous mystical attacks, a hulking warrior with a mace and horned helm, a strange blobby creature, and many others. Each of them listens to her commands on how to attack and where to appear, but can also manifest on their own with limited independence in order to assist her even without her command. They can be harmed, but as soon as they disappear and are resummoned once more all damage is repaired. All of the spirits with recognizable human appearances possess grey skin and crimson eyes. These spirits are swift and powerful, far stronger and faster then a human, but may only operate within a short range of Lily herself.

Finally, Lily's most important ability is to purify the Blight. While this may have little meaning now that the Blight is gone and this world is not her own, it also extends to purging curses and other malignant magical effects or other afflictions of a similar nature. With the possession of the Luminant Aegis Curio, doing so does not affect her at all.
  • Other: Lily is entirely mute, but the Umbral Knight assists by conveying her intentions to others most of the time.

Hoopefully I don't have to go into depth about each of her summons, there's a lot but none of them do anything that should be too overboard for the RP.
@webboysurf: It was missed, I'm sorry. accepted.
@Jing: Sorry for the delay, accepted.
Cocking her head to one side as she listened to the responses, Valika took stock of her fellow mercs as they spoke. A couple seemed pretty new, some seemed pretty professional, but all of them at least seemed like they had some idea what they were doing.

And as far as she was concerned, that's all they needed. If they did their job, it was easier for her to do her job!

And today, that job was kicking some Ultima MA ass.

"Momo and I are best suited for dismantling their defenses. That is, tearing apart their MA squads," she began, "So that's where we're gonna be. Don't worry, I'll rip 'em apart nice and quick without so much as a scratch on Momo's paintjob!"

Maybe she was boasting a little too much.

But on the other hand, she was nothing if not confident.

"I'm sending along my recommendations for squad composition," chirped VALKYRIE's voice over communications, "But it looks like you have things all figured out!"

A blip on MORDRED's console indicated that Valika had received the recommendation list, and she took a quick look at it.

Indeed, VALKYRIE's squad recommendations were more or less along the lines of what they'd already figured out. Banshee, Watcher, and Fallen Angel on the anti-communications team, and Rabbit, Snow, R-18, and herself on demolition duty. It suited her perfectly, after all.

"Drop zone in range. Prepare for launch."

The voice that came over communications was that of the pilot's, rather than VALKYRIE.

"Alright, Redknight is all green and good to go!" declared Valika, grinning as she sat back in her seat, hands at her controls. She was all prepped for release.

Like many of the moons surrounding inhabited planets, Himinbjorg had been terraformed just like a colony would have been. There'd been a variety of different facilities on it prior to the war, but most of them had been destroyed long ago.

Now, they were skeletal remains, overgrown by the foliage that had long ago been introduced to the planet.

Such was the case of the landing zone, forests and grassland encroaching on a wrecked installation of some description. Valika hadn't the faintest idea what it was originally for, but it was so demolished it was unlikely that Ultima Universal had been using it for anything. From what she understood about the situation, their arrival time combined with the cover afforded by the damaged old ruins and the forest would help them get a bit of a jump on their targets.

"Launch!"

"Redknight, launching!"

The moment that she heard the voice over the intercom, she was off. The sky whipped past her as MORDRED's internal systems hummed around her, and the moon steadily rushed closer and closer. There was no need to activate her AUG's thrusters, not when her shock absorbers would take care of most of the impact. She wanted to save the noise for their targets, after all.

Still, the rock of impact when she slammed into Himinbjorg's surface was a lot to take in, for the moment.

It was a clearing surrounded by tall evergreen trees, near an old access road that was a little more open. She could definitely make out some ruins, as she scanned her environment with her machine's visual receptors.

They'd have a few moments to get their bearings and split up, but the faster they reached the facility, the better.

@supertinyking: Oh, sorry, since you didn't note character names and I didn't know them off the top of my head I didn't know. ^^;

In that case, a really quick look over each makes me a little concerned about Mithrix since he's described as having godlike powers, but then again godlike powers is a bit hard to quantify across settings.

Incidentally, I'll probably have my own character up soon. It took a little bit to decide.
"..."

For several moments, as her eyes fell upon the stuffed frog-knight, Velvetica found herself unable to articulate any words.

Cute.

It was cute. It was really cute. Honestly, she'd managed to hold back her admiration for the doll back in the crypt, but now that there wasn't anything else to occupy her attention...

For a few moments she didn't actually manage to say anything at all.

It wasn't as if anyone who had never been to her room would know this, and simply intruding on the Steel Princess's private quarters was practically unfathomable.

But if anyone had gone in there, they would discover her collection.

The variety of stuffed toys she possessed.

Her brother was grinning.

No matter how she admired him, her annoyance at how amused she was exceeded it.

"... A-ahem, I... I certainly admire the craftsmanship," Velvetica began, trying to navigate the situation as best she could, "Plus, it's ad-aesthetically interesting."

To reveal the leader of the Hraeslag Lions so adored cute things would... what would people think, in the heat of battle?! She simply couldn't!

But at the same time, she couldn't ignore the cute look of the armored frog.

"I shall gladly accept this gift."

Her brother stepped forward, nodding his head and still smiling.

"It's a pleasure to meet you, Lady Lirrah," he began, "I'm Velvetica's elder brother, Elroy. I think you may have picked just the kind of gift my little sister finds aesthetically interesting."

Admiration didn't stop Velvetica from shooting him a brief glare as she moved to accept the frog.

@Octo

Ah, she hadn't even had time to put it away...

Later that day, once she had returned to her office, the frog knight was still seated on Velvetica's desk when Kayliss emerged from the corner.

Certainly, she understood the assassin's desire to keep things under wraps when it came to matters such as this, but at the same time she hoped this would never occur with her own personal quarters.

So, Sir István appeared to suspect that something had happened to the Crownsblades? That was difficult, given that the organization was all but destroyed.

"Hmmm... I see," she began, crossing her arms as she leaned back in her seat.

"To begin with, I would prefer if you didn't do anything that could lead to his death," she continued after a moment. To be honest, she would have hoped that those in her employ would also trust her judgement in terms of who she accepted into her service, but that was unfortunately something she simply couldn't count on. Especially given that someone had so clearly desired those who had served as the Crown's assassin's dead.

"As for the nature of your employment," she continued after a moment, "I don't particularly like the idea of lying about my own dealings with the crown. That is not the behavior of a champion of Velt and its people. Rather, I believe simply omitting some of the details if the best course of action."

It was the first possibility that came to mind, at least.

@Psyker Landshark

It was around that moment that the door opened once again.

The figure who stepped through it was a dark-haired woman who appeared to be in her early twenties, her blue eyes possessing an odd luminscence and her pale skin almost ethereal. Her slight features were not out of the realm of humanity, but the slight point to her ears implied ancestry outside of it. She wore red and gold robes over a frilled dress, and currently wore an irritable frown on her face.

It was likely that both of those present would recognize her as the mage employed by the Hraeslag family, Liletta Venn.

In her arms was the doll, Anisette, who had a slight scowl on her face.

"The report did say she could speak, didn't it?" began Liletta, exasperated, "Because she won't answer a single question I ask her. You were the one who got her name, do you-"

She paused on sight of smouldering paper, and the other sheets.

"What have you been doing in here?"
