Adam listened intently to Lucy's answer to his question. The implications of what she said were staggering, with a great many questions appearing in Adam's head, but the main thought he had was "is this Source Code programmable, and if so, how good would Eric be at that?" He missed his brother. This wasn't the time to talk about that though, so he nodded to Lucy instead, thanking her for the information. Zell and James seemed to realize the implications of this also, but the man doubted either of them had computer nerd siblings. If they did, that would be an incredible coincidence. Still, this wasn't the time for that sort of discussion.

The Druid noted Joji's suggestion; it was certainly better than any of Zell's ideas. However, the one he liked best though was "Second Chance." It didn't hurt that it was MacKensie's idea, but like the swordsman said, they all had a second chance being there. He was also happy with the consensus around James as leader as well; even if the red-eyed man was kicked off the team, it felt nice knowing everyone else was in good hands.

After James accepted his new job, he proceeded to start sharing the story of how they all got to the Guild in the first place. Adam was a little surprised the Cleric was sharing so much so quickly, but he also supported it. Calculated risks were necessary in times like these. When the group leader looked at Adam for confirmation about the direction of Hommas, he shook his head, but didn't say anything more. The town was actually south of them, but that wasn't a big deal. What James was swearing about, though; that was the big deal here.

Of course, Lucy responded to the Cleric as best she could. Yes, it was a miracle they were all alive, Adam thought. Despite his attention being on the elven woman, he couldn't help but be a little startled by her sudden change in volume.

"By the Quinity, am I reading this right!?" she exclaimed.  "You did kill Aurok."  She looked at Adam, who was the one who hinted to it earlier.  Then peered around the rest of them.  Early, unascended adventurers, all of them.  "Aurok the Maneater... How!?"
Lucinda Bottrill, Guildmaster, Adventurer Guild's Valhiem Chapter

Adam didn't have anything against this lady, but he did feel there were more important things to discuss, so he only answered her briefly, looking at the anchor on James' back as he did so. "A friend bravely sacrificed himself." It wasn't the whole story, but he felt it was the most important part of it.

Following this, Lucy spoke about the reward; Adam was surprised, but wasn't even sure what they would use the money for. They already had the money from their previous quest and that hadn't even been touched, really. Better to think about that more later. She spoke more; the Source Comm and these contracts were certainly important, but Adam thought there was something more important to discuss first.

"I'm good with whatever you all decide to do next," Adam told the team, thinking that sounded better than 'I don't know if you all want me around so I don't want to influence your decisions.' With his attention back to the Guild Master, the Druid spoke with certainty. "But there is something else that needs to be addressed. That cube is the reason that water ninja attacked us on orders from the Witch Queen. So before we accept any contracts, we need to be sure that thing is somewhere safe. Lucy, is there somewhere it can go so it won't fall into the wrong hands? And maybe someone from that Academy you mentioned could figure out what exactly it does?" The man knew from experience what the team had gone through to defend that death cube once; with any luck, they wouldn't have to do that again.
@xenonI'll go with number 3 - A gold Contract.

I'm voting OOC because MacKensie would probably not agree with me risking her life for the sake of XP and new experiences lol.

Technically, she'd get even more experiences with two silver contracts :P Not as much exp though, and of course I am joking and encourage everyone to vote how they want
@xenon I won't have Adam vote IC because I don't think it makes sense narratively for him to think he "deserves" a vote (since he's still feeling guilty over what happened in the Hillocks), but my vote is for the two silver contracts. Arthur's sacrifice and the ninja's attack were a large part of why they won and I suspect the team knows this.

That being said, I do have a post idea in my head, so that should be fun to write! I'd like to write it today, but if I can't, I'll write it tomorrow.
@Teyao I thought it was fine, he's been very restrained until now so him responding that way makes a lot of sense.
@Teyao I'm sure your post will be good even of you didn't get to do everything you wanted.
The first post has been made! Feel free to write about the day your character had or what led them to be where they are now. If you need someone to bounce ideas off of or have any questions, let me know. Please have your post finished by the end of the day EST next Tuesday, June 6th. I'm excited to write this story with you all!
Look around you; the Kingdom of Xeconia is truly a land of endless opportunity! Whether you are a farmer, adventurer, or any other profession, you know you have the ability to be prosperous. Even our criminals are treated well, being sent to one of our Redemption Districts to be given the ability to live a good life. Yes, the Royal Family has made this continent the best place to live for everyone!

The reality for those in the Northern Redemption District is quite different though; it is a miserable place. The terrain consists of gray rocks as far as the eye could see, both inside and beyond the four walls made of the same material, with similarly-colored mountains visible in the distance. This rock is used for all of the builds there, with the staff buildings distinguished by signs and more care into their design. Those unfortunate enough to be here spend their days waking up before dawn, mining for gold for hours, eating a single meal of soup and bread, and sleeping, only to repeat the same routine the next day.

Now, it was true that nobody wanted to be sent there, but for those who were clever enough, there were minor comforts to be had in this place. One person lucky enough to fit this category was Titus, a thief and alchemist sent here after failing to steal from the government. It was the skills he learned in the latter trade that led the man to be where he was that afternoon; the Guard House.

In that building, one of the guards of the facility was sitting in a wooden chair, taking his break. Zachary was tired today and deep in thought.

It's been a long week. Maybe I shouldn't have taken the overtime; I feel like I'm going to mess something up. But what could I do? The Warden asked me personally! The Divine Blood doesn't lie. If the boss thinks I have potential, maybe I should stop-

"Hey Zach, what's going on?"

The resting man was startled out of his thoughts, but relaxed when he saw the stupid face of Cletus, his fellow worker. The man was wide and short, dim but a good fellow, always finding amusing ways to mess with the slav-er, penitents.

"Oh, not much. Just resting and still kind of worried; it's been a long week."

"Quit that already! Don't you know, tonight's the big day!"

"Yeah, yeah, yeah." Zachary shook his head, a slight grin appearing on his face.

"Ya hear the Warden got us the good booze for the party? Not that cheap shit like last year!"

On and on their conversation went. Vito, leaning against a wall in the Guard House, just wanted Cletus to shut the fuck up. By the King was that bastard fucking annoying, and it made it hard to listen to the man who was talking to him. Titus had good information and better tobacco (made with some alchemal process he was unfamiliar with), so he was actually worth paying attention to.

Unbeknownst to Vito, the thief was quite interested in what the guard's younger coworkers had to say. A party and booze meant drunk guards, and that meant…

-----

Later on in the day, the usual dinner was being held at the mine's "cafeteria." It was a generous name for a sparse building with its furniture consisting of rocks used as chairs and larger, relatively flatter rocks used as tables, but the prisoners were usually more focused on eating than on the place's naming conventions. This evening, however, the focus of a small group of people was on the resident alchemist, describing in low tones what he had heard and why it mattered.

"...so if they're drunk, that means they'll be less attentive, and that's our chance to get it; the master map." The man continued talking about more specific details related to the Guard House, but the others realized the significance of what had just been said immediately.

Just by working there long enough, even the lowliest of slaves knew the layout of the District, but the master map was the only one in the complex with the location of the key on it. And this wasn't just an ordinary key; this one was capable of unlocking the cuff each prisoner wore around their ankle that blocked their ability to use magic. The appropriately-named magic key could be used to give the group their spellcasting abilities back, then they could use that power to escape. And it wasn't like there was another way to get this information, so if the group didn't take advantage of this opportunity, another one like it was not likely to replace it.

"With the key, we'll have a chance to finally be free," Titus concluded, "and I intend to take it. Who's with me?"
@Expendable my apologies, I've been traveling and forgot to respond! I'll look at this and let you know what I think. Thank you!

Edit: I read your CS. I wasn't going to have racism be a part of the roleplay, but maybe goblins have had less contact with humans and so are considered less "civilized?" What do you think?

That isn't any reason to deny your CS though; it is approves! I'll send you a link to the Discord server.
Quick post to save the team from any of Zells suggestions XD

Kudos for "Zell's Angels" though, I chuckled.

Fenna is the true Hero from the Sky lol

I made a short post as well, figured it would be good to get more information on the crystals while moving the story forward.
Zell was gracious and seemed to pay attention to Adam's explanation; smart one moment and dumb the next, the swordsman was a mystery to the Druid. Still, the red-eyed man felt grateful for his presence. "No problem, sorry I can't be more helpful," he responded. More impressive than his explanation, he felt, was the Adventurer's Guild and its surroundings. It was all so civilized compared to what he had seen so far in Mytheria. Of course, what he had seen earlier was the death of Arthur and Clive, so that might have influenced his opinion at that time. Upstairs though, what the Druid saw was quite a lovely sight.

And what a cute dog she was! As Scribble ran out of the room, the man took a moment to pet the creature, earning a wagging tail from the happy canine in return. He couldn't help smiling at this; he had always liked dogs. After Lucy, Zell and Fenna spoke, Adam was next. "Hello Lucy, I'm Adam, nice to meet you." And speaking of dumb, Zell's team name ideas certainly fit that category, but not his suggestion for who would be in charge. "James would be a good leader and I support it, but…I agree with Fenna."

No need to dwell on that. As Adam scanned his crystal, he noticed it turned purple. "Just like after the giant centaur was killed," he said fairly quietly to himself, but loud enough for Lucy and anyone else nearby to hear. Now facing the elf directly, he decided it would be good to learn about these things on each of their hands. "Excuse me Lucy, why did the crystal turn purple just now? Actually, how do they work in general? As Zell said, we're extremely new to this world and there's a ton we don't know."
