A whistle of admiration was vocalized by Mizar in the presence of the unexpected guest’s crips bow. Now that wasn’t just some ordinary too-damn-lazy-to-bend-over-my-chubby--wubby-belly bow, no, no, that was something far more refined. Affluent more like. As if Akio was raised in the arts of cordial mannerism, and by the looks of it that wasn’t too falsifiable of an assumption. Styx gave the regulars arrived with the outsider a quick wave. He followed the older Oni’s path out of the corner of his eye and felt a wave of relief rush over him as she accepted the anonymous donation. Meanwhile, Yuina proceeded to engulf an apple while gingerly drowsing Seth with sultry words laced with anthrax. Mizar and Styx watched from the safety of the sidelines as her toothed extremity practically inhale the apple whole. The two then anxiously turned their vision over to Alcor, who was of a similar shade of rouge to the late apple, which died a valiant death in the war against dietary unfulfillment.

At a glance one would surmise that Akio was in a state of disarray. But under deeper scrutinization, one that delves past the fleshy depths, Styx concluded that the kid was actually handling the experience quite well, albeit the fact that it essentially tore apart every fundamental he was raised with. His mouth hidden behind his surgical mask curved into a faint smile at the state of his soul. The lost individual was coping better than he had when he first arrived at the Imaginary District. Then again he was only able to toil in disbelief for a few minutes before somebody ended up kicking the bucket.

But enough of that, it was mission time. Styx listened attentively as Makiko, being the assertive kind of person she always has been, regarded every development that had transpired within the room in a succinct and curt fashion. She effortlessly captured every member’s attention and made sure they hung onto every single syllable that left her stoic complexion of hers. At this point the Ankou had rested his elbows on the couch and propped up his chin with frigid palms. Both of the provided operations sounded equally cogent. Angered spirits were pretty much his forte and sounded like his go-to choice, but taking part in kitty recovery would allow him to detox after his aforementioned run in. Seth was the first to voice his bearing and solicited a position in the latter team. Styx tried his best to not fall behind. ”I could go for either to be frank.” He chimed in, leaning over the couch entirely to take up the gap between Yuina and Seth. The Ankou cuffed a hand over the mask and subtle whispered to the flyboy, ”Dude. Run.” Yet since it was his cerulean familiar who transmitted his thoughts, the piece of advice was audible to the entire organization.

”Dealing with spirits whose NaCl content is a tad bit high is my specialty, but embarking on a quest for the elusive feline doesn’t sound like a bad choice either. But I do have a couple recommendations…” His golden gaze fell onto the young brunet, still in the midst of grasping his surroundings, ”Put Akio on the cat team. He can make himself useful while we set up his return policy and he can get a tour of the city in the meantime, it’s killing two birds with one stone! Oughta carpe the hell out of that diem. Also chuck Tessai in there too, since, y’know, cats.” He jabbed a finger at the guy whose existence was basically synonymous with felines before standing upright, ”Put me wherever you see fit, Boss.”

Akio Haritama

Akio tilted his head at the Tengu. It acted extremely human like, and seemed to be shy. Perhaps this anthropomorphism that the creatures seemed to have was why he was feeling so comfortable around them. They didn’t seem to act like monsters at all. He waved her down and said, “Sorry for staring, I didn’t mean to uh- make you uncomfortable.” He apologized, and looked away from her.

Upon returning his gaze to Makiko, who appeared to have a gaunt expression on her face upon hearing his story. “I've... I've never seen someone accidentally come from beyond the barrier before. We'll talk in a moment,” She said to him, before she turned away from him. He blinked, “Alright then, uh… thanks.” He said. He raised his eyebrows as she explained that an Onryo was in town, and that a cat went missing. He nearly laughed at that, as he would think that the deadly spirit might be slightly more important than a missing kitty. ”Wouldn’t be a hard choice for me.” He mumbled to himself.

Nao then walked up to him and presented drinks to him, and he rolled his eyes when she commented about the alcohol. “I suppose I do,” He laughed, and grabbed for a can of apple juice. “Thank you Ms.” He said, unsure of if it would be proper to address her by name, before she walked off.

~Shina~

"Oho, looks like I'm the popular one today!" She chuckled enthusiastically as Nao gave her another delicious looking alcoholic beverage. Well, maybe she'd start coming more often if she could get more free drinks like this! It certainly make this a whole hell of a lot more fun. For the most part though, the Oni remained quiet and listened to the boss, not paying much attention to the others. An Onryo and a missing cat, huh? Neither sounded particularly interesting, if she was to be honest, but she wasn't exactly the best judge of 'entertaining'.

"Meh, I'll go wherever. Neither sounds like a particularly fun job." She grunted, knocking some ash out of her kiseru. "Might as well put me with the kid though. Someone's gotta make sure he doesn't get himself hurt." The Oni sounded as if she was the most qualified here for that. She did feel like she was the most competent combatant here, after all. At least she hadn't seen the others stand out too spectacularly, and she wasn't didn't place that much stock in supernatural abilities.

Taking a drink of the whiskey, she fell silent again and watched Akio fail at being both polite and discreet.

Tessai Watabe

Tessai sat and watched as person after person whom he had seen and or met trickled in to the MYO HQ. Makiko and Yuina continued their comedy sketch, which at least provided some type of entertainment while they all waited for the meeting to commence.

The boy hadn't much to do besides wait, and observe everything that was happening. The Oni - Shina? - arrived out of nowhere, mostly uninvited as it were, with two others on her tail. Another Oni, if he was correct, and... That was a new face. Was there a new member joining. That wasn't discussed before, was it?

Akio Haritama... That, too, was a name alien to his ears. So this was indeed a newcomer. And he accidentally made his way into the Imaginary District? That didn't sound particularly plausible. Wasn't it meant to be impossible for a human to stumble into this place without the intent? At least, that was Tessai's understanding.

He didn't say anything, mind you, instead opting this time to sit still and continue watching. Any other time he might have already been talking to them, but at this point he didn't particularly trust the boy. He was new, and even if he didn't mean to be here, he couldn't just ignore the implications of such a person.

~

And so the meeting began.

Makiko introduced the two "jobs" as it were - a haunting of some kind and a search and rescue operation of the kitty kind. What was an Onryo again? Either way, this was to be interesting. The haunting sounded like the more exciting of the two, but Tessai couldn't stop his mind from drifting to the cat. The poor kitty could be anywhere, being hurt, tortured... No cat should have to suffer as a PoW. What was he thinking about again? Oh right.

".Also chuck Tessai in there too, since, y’know, cats.” Huh? Oh, it was just Styx. Well, it was true that the cat would be the mission he would prefer to go on, whether or not it was the right one was another matter. In any case, it was probably the one he would be chosen for. And, plus, the new guy was probably gonna tag along, so why not? It'd give him a chance to suss him out - if there even was anything to suss out - and then promptly make friends with him.

But now he had to make a choice. What did he want to go to - a close encounter of the hairy kind, or the furry kind? Well, the choice was obvious.
"As interesting as the haunting sounds..." he turned his gaze towards Akio, and then back to Makiko, "I would likely be better suited to go on this cat hunt. Whatever I'm selected for, though, is where I'll go."

Aamuu

“Sorry for staring, I didn’t mean to uh- make you uncomfortable."

She briefly looked to Akio, getting the book away from her face, hugging it.

"I'm sorry too... I kinda overreacted..." she said to Tessai

"We tengus often suffer a lot of prejudice when we meet other humans, even some other yokais dont like us... I never knew why... maybe is because of some modern superstitions. It wasnt always like that..." she said, briefly looking down.

"Miss Aoyama Makiko, i can be of some help with either of those jobs, I know the city like the palm of my hand, and can move through it very easily too!" she said, giggling, turning and flapping the end of her wings gently "I can also carry wounded people away from the danger and heal them, and i can even carry other people if they want to get somewhere fast, even if it is an oni." She said, giggling and looking to Shiina, waving her hand with a kind smile.

"Although i dont like to use violence without a good reason, i'm more than capable of defending myself, but i dont know what martial arts, venoms or even sharp blades of wind can do against a spirit... I would love to rescue the cute kitty, but it seems that we already have too many people, wanting to do this mission." She said, looking to each one of them.

"Anyways, I will go where you send me. You are the boss after all." She said, with a kind smile.

Wolfram Thiess
God's Hound

Wolfram's smile actually seemed to grow brighter and friendlier as he was vicariously introduced to the young Shrine Maiden and her raccoon-like assistant, a talent he'd developed in response to long being the center of scorn and other...less than positive types of social interaction himself over the years.

"I am indeed a fully ordained priest of the Church in Rome! It's always nice to run into fellow servant of Heaven's truth!" He paused for a minute and frowned "I do wish it was under better circumstances but as you've both already guessed I'm...well worse than lost. To tell you the truth my child I've become stranded here without anywhere to stay or any money to my name. I knew there would be trials and tribulations when I chose to set out for this district but I had no idea they would all descend on me at once! I may even have to resort to begging and sleeping in alleyways like a true holy mendicant!" Wolfram seemed to catch himself babbling here and stopped, although the full seriousness of his situation had hit him and left him looking rather pathetic for just a moment as he sat down in a slump, though he gave the tanuki and the priestess and apologetic smile shortly afterward "I'm sorry for rambling like that please don't worry about me, Young Miss Kaminari, Master Juju. I'm sure Heaven will provide for me in my time of need!"

He dug into the shopping bag at his side and pulled out one of many, many chocolate bars and offered it for the young girl and her assistant. He really wasn't sure what he was going to do about his situation even if his declaration of faith was sincere, but the girl had seemed genuinely bummed out or saddened about something when he'd arrived. The gesture of kindness was his duty as a priest.

"A gift, for being kind enough to listen and offer help!"

Yuina Fujioka

Straight to business, huh? How boring... Oh, someone from outside the barrier? Well, as long as he didn't start thinking that she ate people just because she had a huge mouth on the back of her head she'd be cool with him. Well... I mean there was that one time when she was younger and she'd apologized so much for what happened to the guy's hand and she wasn't exactly going to do it again because as it turned out humans taste ghastly (maybe it was because of all the crap they stuff themselves with)...

But, uh, yeah. The guy was kind of cute, really, and would be fun to mess with if he stuck around.

"Maybe we can have a big cook-off once business is taken care of, then," she replied to Seth (and really, everyone else in the room), and with a wink added, "I'm sure you guys would just love my meat buns~"

"Buuut unfortunately business before pleasure..." Yuina sighed, slumping back into her seat as she once more wrapped an arm around Makiko's shoulders, pulling the other girl uncomfortably close. "I guess I'm going wherever Makiko goes~"

Kaminari Hotaru

The Firefly Maiden

Hotaru took the chocolate with hesitance, looking down at the priest with some curiosity. Juju, on the other hand, completely ignored the chocolate bar to rather take a grasp of the man's hand with his small paws, eyes teary. "Oh you're story is so sad! Maybe you could stay at the shrine for your time here? You won't be here long, I assume, so it should be fine."

A skeptical look crossed the shrinemaiden's face, she letting out a small huff of a sigh. "Juju... Do you really think Inugami would enjoy us bringing home a stranger? A man, no less?"

The tanuki immediately pictured the dog demon, clouded in darkness and anger. You brought home a stranger...? And you expect him to stay in the same household as our lady without any background information on him? In his thoughts, Inugami was much more vicious than true to reality, but Juju immediately started quivering at the thought. "Ah! And Master Inugami is still mad at Master Nure...! I don't want to anger him anymore, or...!" His imagination created an image of a Silhoette of the demon, eyes glowing and claws at the ready. Jujuuuuuuu!

The raccoon leaped into Hotaru's arms with teary eyes. "Lady Hotaru, don't let him get meeee!"
A confused expression met the brunette's face. "What are you even talking about?" Hotaru sighed deeply, shaking her head. "Still... You don't have a place to go. Its the duty of a shrine to help those in need. " She lowered her mouth to whisper to Juju. "If Inugami gets out of hand I could always use sacred word binding anyway."

Hotaru held out her hand to Wolfram. "If you don't mind, I would have no issue taking you in until you find another place to stay for your time here. Will you come with us?" The usually neutral faced girl mustered the energy for a small, friendly smile.

Myah...?

A rumor in the District is like a tiny spark on a hot, windy day, right straight in the middle of Californian forested land. And as much as it sounds typical to use wildfire as a comparison, it's not really far from the truth. Any piece of news, no matter how strange it is, travels quick in the small confines of this piece of city. It's quick for any ear to catch wind on stories that would normally be regarded as plain bull outside, and it's unusually easy for anyone to believe it within here.

It's commonly known that a strange figure, often surrounded by an atmosphere of dread in encounters and, on occasion, leaving behind a mess of crumpled papers with disturbing illustrations in its wake, roams the streets of the District.

An onryo haunt? Hm, hm. Scary, scary~

This strange figure is often seen as a shadow roaming around an empty alley, but sometimes, it's full visage could be seen to those unfortunate enough to witness it.

Could it be me?

Actual eyewitnesses to a full encounter, however, were often caught off-guard and were too overtaken by a trembling, tensed sensation to describe in detail what they had undergone.

Some felt a strange sense of familiarity, but are very well tensed up in fear to even try to figure it out.

Huh, that's not it.

Some say it is a lone spirit of evil.

Or is it...?

Others say it is merely but a helpless ghost, wanting to find a way out.

Or is it not...?

And there are those that say it might even be someone you could simply see in plain daylight like most others, perhaps simply having their own cycles of oddity sometimes.

Karu thinks they're just crazy.
.
.
.
What do you think?

But the umbrella did not reply.

Makiko looked over the Youth Organization members and nodded. At least they were quick to arrange themeselves when it came to this matter. Naturally, many of them would prefer to go after the missing cat, which only made sense, really. An onryo was a much more serious threat. However, it still needed to be dealt with. Now all that was left to do was assign the people who didn't care either way.

"In this case, Styx-san, Aamuu-san, you're with me," Makiko stated, eyeing the shinigami-esque being for a moment. "We'll-"

It was about then that Yuina, being her typical flirtatious self, wrapped an arm around her and pulled her close. Makiko's cheeks colored with embarrassment at the proximity, especially in front of so many people, but she did her best to shake it off. So, the futakuchi-onna was going with her? It wasn't exactly unexpected, the youkai typically did go with her no matter what. And really, it would be quite useful in this case.

"I-I'm glad you volunteered, Yuina-san," Makiko said, trying to keep herself from sounding too embarrassed. "We'll be heading after the onryo."

She took a deep breath.

"... Haritama-san, are you sure you want to help out? You just arrived here, so..." Makiko trailed off for a moment. No, it was best they didn't delay here any longer. "Shina-san will fill you in the rest of the way, I'm sure everyone else will help too. Once everyone's done, we'll come back here and try and figure out what to do. For now..."

Makiko looked firmly towards the door.

"We've all got jobs to do."

Rei Mokoto

The younger sliver haired Boy had just made a delivery to a friend of his adopted mother house, giving back the insulin bottle the youkai mother left in their fridge so her son can take his insulin and help keep his body in balance so who would not be thirsty, hunger, and sleepy all the time. As the young boy walked through the streets he couldn't help but think. This is quite the world he lives in; he and his mother can heal most injuries but they still can not fix a problem in which the body attacks it's own resources for no reason, thought he suppose everything happens for a reason. Seeing how it was a beauty day, Rei decided to hold off going back home and explore a little, i mean who know maybe something interesting would happen.

Myah.

Of course, there are also some people that, despite being insisted that it isn't, know that this odd "ghost" is indeed Karu. Who wouldn't when she's been here for years?

....myoh?

Karu's feet halted in the middle of the payment.

The typical big, red, loose bow is very rarely seen not gracing the mysterious girl's pale, barely blonde hair. The rest of her clothes, changing they may be, and with mystery as where they come from, still never ceases to show a bit of "odd child" to onlookers. Today's a particularly odd mix of very frilly, very oversized sleeves of dirty purple and a similarly frilly skirt of deep red, subtly patterned with flowers in a slightly lighter color.

Such a sight is to be seen outside the doors of the MYO building, a rather ordinary place with an odd gathering inside that drew Karu's eyes.

Myoh....myoh, myo, myomyomyo...
Karu's verbal tic slowly morphed into an attempt to pronounce MYO, ignoring the fact that it is an acronym and, like most acronyms, should be pronounced by letter.

Myomyo... Such ambition! Solving incidents without a shrine to help. How can they all pull it off?

Yuina Fujioka

Yuina smiled. She just knew which one Makiko would pick for herself. And now she would have a nice, quiet day looking for some lost cat...

...Wait, what did she say!?

She couldn't help but turn a bit pale. She... She wanted to go after the onryo? But those were... They were all creepy and horrifying and crawled out of televisions to give you magical smallpox! And she really, really didn't want to catch magical smallpox! Besides, ghosts were just... She was a youkai and even she thought they were a bit too much!

"Eh... Eheh um... So the, um... The onyro, um, uh..." Unconsciously, Yuina found herself clinging ever so tighter to Makiko, as her lips forced themselves into a rictus grin. "S-sure! That sounds... That sounds f-fine with me, yeah! Definitely... D-definitely no problem there nope not at all!" Ohgodohgodwhyyyyyy.

@Natsu

Shina simply watched the events unfolding, keeping mostly quiet as she had nothing to say, as usual. She did give a friendly wave of acknowledgement to the Tengu...what was her name? Aamuu? Though she said nothing until it was time to get to work. Finding a damn cat. Wasn't exactly the most entertaining of jobs, but well...she said she'd at least look after the kid somewhat, so she was obligated to do it. Chugging the last of the whiskey and putting out her pipe, Shina stood from her rather comfortable seat. She placed the now empty bottle on the desk and the Kiseru was placed into her robes, likely some inside pocket holding it.

"Well alright then kid, might as well get going." She said walking behind the human, placing a firm hand on his shoulder. "I wanna get this over with so quit yer flirting," She teased, indicating his speaking to Aamuu. "And lets go. That goes for everyone on this cat finding thing. I wanna get this over with so I can go back to drinking."

Nao

Prez made clear what the jobs of today were gonna be. It didn't sound all to spectacular but they were still things they had to do. Nao listened from the corner of the room still giving her plants water while they all arranged themselves to a job they preferred or were chosen to do. Nao put aside her watering can and walked up to Makiko with her hands bundled up in front of her lap. She was caressing a light smile on her face as she spoke to the leader of the group.

"I'd like to go with the Onryo group if you don't mind Aoyama-san."

Seems like Yuina, Makiko, Styx and Aamuu were the ones that were assigned to the mission at the moment so Nao hoped that she wasn't gonna be a huge bother. Yuina had this weird thing hanging from the side of her head. It looked special but Nao wasn't gonna complain or judge by it. Styx had a huge hole in his chest so she wondered a little if he was gonna be alright. It was't particularly useful in any way. Aamuu was just a kind sweet girl with a lot of feathers. She gave them all a kind smile whilst looking at them not trying to get too much attention on herself.

Shikaze Miki

"If you're that interested, how about I show you in? Or would you rather prefer your current lifestyle, hm?"

Miki eyed the building for a while, considering. The sounds coming from across the street had become more subdued; if it was a party, it probably wasn't her type. But the older kitsune's words had her curious...

"Well, alright then. Anything to liven up the evening, I suppose."

Without waiting for a reply, she hopped to her feet and crossed the road. She paused for a moment to glance through the windows and take stock of the assembled people. There were a couple of oni, and a tengu, but... most of the attendees looked to be human. I might not fit in, going as myself... She shrugged and headed for the door, debating whether or not to hide her ears and tail before entering.

After all, some of them are probably like me. Disguising themselves as a matter of course.

Miki closed her eyes for a moment, and when she opened them again she looked as human as anyone. She opened the door quietly, and waited for someone else to react before stepping inside.

After hearing what Miss Makiko said, she looked to her, and with a small bow, she replied
"Ok then. Just call me when you are ready to go. I can carry you there faster." se smiled.

"You will come with us too?" She asked with a shy smile to Nao.
"I hope we can get along well, you seem to be a very nice girl, but the other ones... I don't feel very confortable near Yuina though... She seems a litte bit... unstable." She whispered to Nao, looking down. "I'm sorry if i'm being overfriendly, its just because you seem to be a little like me." She said, embarrassed.

She was trying to talk again, when someone opened the door and interrupted her, it was a little girl.
She went near her and with curious look, asked "Hello there, what are you doing here? Are you lost?"

"This is the MYO building, i cannot think on many reasons one has to enter here... Are you acquainted with the Myura Youth Organization?" She asked, looking curiously to her.

Styx soothed the kink that lurked in his neck with circular, almost methodical motions with his hand. Though his hand looked alive, blood no longer coursed through it along with the rest of his body. Ankou were post-mortem living enigmas. They were gifted with the ability to perform innate human actions, such as eating, sleeping, and shitting, but nutritional or neurological substances were unable to even graze the conscience of the regional reapers. This was, you probably (hopefully) guessed it, the lack of blood flow within their bodies. Once in a blue moon a little pool of stale fluid gathered under the facade of vivacious skin and needed to be remedied. Luckily it only required a little pressure to suffice. The pastime was perfect absent-minded idleness, in other words, exactly what he was partaking at this very moment as the Boss delegated tasks for her underli- co-workers.

Well, at least Styx got an internal chuckle at the sight of a pale pigmented Yuina. A random passerby could run the risk of mistaking her for a ghost should she remain in the same state of distress. His eyes danced from the entertaining spectacle over to the now empty bottle, a reservoir sucked completely dry. Perhaps he should have used the timer on his phone? Nah, he had to retain some bearing on reality, he didn’t need Shina shattering the enjoyment of getting smashed from booze. Then again, it’s not like Styx has ever lived through such an experience.

”Onrie! Onrya! Onryayayayayayayayay~!” Alcor began to babble incessantly in her failed attempt at pronouncing the name of their objective. After he caught Styx’s sideways glance, Mizar gravitated over to his sister and gave the starkly contrasting orb a gentle nudge. His two familiars then quickly whizzed to his side while the younger Oni, Nao, volunteered for their entourage. He regarded the assembled group with a narrowed gaze before he turned around and made his way for the door. With one hand shoved deep into his coat pocket and the other now holding open the entrance, Styx called out to his comrades, lackadaisical and unenthused as always, ”Shall we?” His coarse voice permeated the surgical mask as if it didn’t even exist. He topped of the query with a slight nod of his head.

It was time to venture back into the streets of the Imaginary District, the district that never even knew the concept of sleep. And additionally, young maidens hanging out in paths that saw frequent traffic. Aamuu was already in the midst of rationalizing why a girl of such attire would be hanging out in front of the MYO. Rather than waste his time sifting through levels of adolescence, Styx spoke up with his hand still keeping the door wide open, "Hey, we'll be passing by a bus station or two. I have some spare change, just tell the driver where your flat is and hopefully there'll be a stop on their route that's close by.

Styx wasn't an altruist. This wasn't an act of potential kindness. He just really wanted to get to the bottom of this Onryo business so people would cease to misconstrued the story.

To say that the expression on Makiko's face was the definition of unimpressed was a rather massive understatement. The black-haired girl sighed, turning to look at the trembling girl tightly clinging to her. Really? Yuina hadn't gotten over it? Was it because of that poltergeist? Those weren't even proper ghosts! Raising her free hand, she brought it down sharply, though not very hard, onto the futakuchi-onna's head. Once again, she took care to avoid the second mouth.

"Stop shaking," she admonished her friend, "You're a youkai, it's more difficult for a vengeful spirit to target you, remember? Besides..."

With remarkable gentleness given her previous sharper punishment, Makiko disentangled herself from Yuina.

"The exorcism of spirits is a natural part of an onmyouji's capabilities."

As Nao spoke up, Makiko turned to face her, nodding her head. "Alright, Nao-san, I'm glad you volunteered."

As Makiko headed for the door... yet another person walked in, this one appearing to be a human girl. Though, to be frank, you could never say for certain if someone was a human(or even if they were fully human) or not in the Imaginary District, even when they looked it one hundred percent.

They didn't have time to address a new member, however.

"... If you're here to join the Youth Organization, I'm sorry," she began, "But we don't have time for a proper introduction. You can accompany either our members going to exorcise an onryo, or our members trying to find a lost cat. Or you can wait for us to return."

With that, she waved to the other members to get going, and headed out the door... in time to see yet another girl, this one having been peering through the window.

She sighed.

"... Now what were you doing, exactly?"

Karu's nigh-eternal gaze kept itself locked to the window for the past few moments.

It was only after the leader headed out that it began to shift again, albeit with a slow and disquieting head turn, as if you could almost hear a deafening creak. Then, presented in full view, was the same classic face of what your mother kept warning you about, in bedtime stories or in reality, and definitely a warning a child should heed.

Half-closed, ominously red contracted eyes stared through the onmyoji girl, and a wide unhinged smile greeted her sight.
