"Hey, you don't know I don't." Joseph said, giving a small chuckle of his own. "You'd be surprised at how many crazy things I've done in my journeys. How many crimes I've stopped accidentally. Never on purpose at all. Far too shy for that."
He shrugged when Ren talked about his own life.
"Hey, I wouldn't exactly call myself decisive either. Just stressed and scared like a dumb animal. At least you made the choice to come here for uni, and your dad didn't even have to die to make you do it! As far as I'm concerned, the fact that you managed to do that without the fear I had is even more of an achievement!"
He demolished a sandwich, still kind of nervous about how he could do it do fast.
"Well, if you say so Ren..." He said with a knowing smile, as Ren tried to make his stammering denial. "I'll believe you for now. Or, well, I'll pretend to."
However, he found himself in a bit of a pickle when Ren scribbled a phone number onto a napkin and said to text him next time.
"Well, alright. I think its time to clear this apparent misunderstanding up..." He said, an amused smile on his face. "So, you may remember that I collapsed on your lawn specifically because I didn't have the moment for food, and haven't eaten in a week. How am I supposed to have enough money for a phone?"
And then he overheard a conversation that could help him out. Looking around, he saw a small, mousy girl not far from their own table. She seemed to be looking for someone in the city hall.
More importantly, she might have a phone.
"Um, e-excuse me!" He said, waving to the small girl. "I think we might know the way to the city hall!"
And then he mumbled just loud enough for Ren to here.
"We do know where the city hall is, right?"
