Requested information related to the role play:

  • Do you want our characters to already know each other?
-Yeah sure, I've read the past posts for a general understanding of the need.

  • Do you often frequent an OOC of a RP you're in?
-I subscribe to the thread I submit a CS and check every single day if I'm not terribly sick or on a leave, etc. Keep in mind my timezone is GMT+10 so there's every chance I log on when it's sleep time in your timezone or something.

  • How active can you see yourself being in this RP?
-Going to play safe and say at least once every two to three days.

  • Any questions you have for me?
    -Query about the setting.
About MChips: "Should you wish to listen to music, it allows you to do so without even needing headphones, transmitting music directly to your brain without disturbing anyone around it".
From the introduction: "they [cell phones of 2021] play music but this music is different, it can take people into a digital realm called the DgtWld".
I'm probably over thinking this but I wanted to make sure. The 'music' which MChips emit does not allow the user to access the Internet. True or False?

I made up my 'senior' Corrector, is that okay? If not I can change it.

Are the Correctors restricted from using Cnnt to enter the DgtWld when they are not on duty?

-Status of this role play. I saw that the date when this thread was created was roughly one month ago. What is the hold-up, real-life issues or incomplete character sheets? (or other?)

-To be honest I have no idea if I am capable of Advanced Roleplay and this will be my first ARP thread. If you think I am not 'up to the standards', please be merciless in whipping me up to shape I love being whipped. Also please leave no hesitation if I am deemed incapable of Advanced Roleplay, no hard feelings. I'd rather be kicked than mess up others' fun. If you'd like a role play sample that can easily be arranged also.

  • Future Genres: Do you want this to become post apoc and deal with time travel down the line?
-I have a personal preference to type two dystopia settings which I can see this role play will fall into, if I'm not horribly mistaken of the direction this will take. In that sense I would rather if it does not evolve into a post-apocalyptic or type one dystopia setting if possible. I'm not going to suddenly quit the role play if it does however, so if post apoc and/or time travel is your cup of tea, go for it though.

  • RP Post Frequency: How often can you be active in the IC as well as the OOC? What should I expect from you?
-IC: twice a week at least, if we're not waiting for someone to post or if my last post wasn't within the two most recent IC post.
-OOC: every day/twodays depending on how busy I am.
-You can expect me to notify on the OOC if i am going to be away or something and also see my siggy.

  • RP Post Amount: How much are you comfortable posting?
-I'd say around two paragraphs excluding speech at least. I can however bump this up so if this seems a little lacking, just say so.

Eh You win some and you lose some. Not being as awful as expected is always a bonus though.

Sucks cause I did SO WELL on the first, that it just brought my total average for them both down but hey, could be worse. *nods* And tomorrow is my last class, then I have the final next week and I'm home free, no more math forever! I've been insanely busy lately and drinking, but man, I need to get back to writing. It's been too long.

And look another CS! *dances*

@Side Character G: Very interesting "weapon" of choice. I have some questions:

Do the colors represent various events? (ex: Green disrupts signal, yellow creates some sort of gooey entrapment, etc)

How are they summoned? Mentally with a hand in the air? Or are they carried on the Corrector?

I was about to then ask why, with his skills in physical combat, his Corrector alias wouldn't take advantage of that directly but I can see why after after reading into the history. Overall, I really like your character's backstory. It's interesting, realistic, and very "human" which I can totally give kudos to. In regards to my questions which you answered, your answers are fine with me. Now in regards to your questions for me:

-Query about the setting.
About MChips: "Should you wish to listen to music, it allows you to do so without even needing headphones, transmitting music directly to your brain without disturbing anyone around it".
From the introduction: "they [cell phones of 2021] play music but this music is different, it can take people into a digital realm called the DgtWld".
I'm probably over thinking this but I wanted to make sure. The 'music' which MChips emit does not allow the user to access the Internet. True or False?

A: I may need to edit, it's been a while since I've looked at my timeline since I started the RP so long ago and have done tweaking between now and then. But to answer your question, should someone listen to music (say it's freaky German metal) they could also be taken to a night club or some place like Chernobyl. Or if they're buying things online, music could still be listened to, granted thanks to the MChip itself, it wouldn't create noise pollution around them. Does that help sort of?

I made up my 'senior' Corrector, is that okay? If not I can change it.

A: Nope, that's cool with me.

Are the Correctors restricted from using Cnnt to enter the DgtWld when they are not on duty?

A: They are able to use Cnnt when "off duty" though they tend to be always "on call" in their area, so notifications can come in during any time of day, there isn't really a restricted time of day or area in which they cannot go.

-Status of this role play. I saw that the date when this thread was created was roughly one month ago. What is the hold-up, real-life issues or incomplete character sheets? (or other?)

A: I'd say character sheets, and the new Guild is starting up as well so everyone is a bit finicky with RPs and keeping tabs on RPs. I think we couldn't subscribe to threads back when this was made. I don't recall. As for my personal stuff, well my semester is very close to ending so I should be much less busy now. But I can assure you, having run this on the old site for nearly three years, I do know what I'm doing. ^^; And Adv RPs can tend to run on the sluggish side, but usually the wait is in fact worth it.

A: Based on what I've seen out of your CS, you should fit in well. If you don't, I'll let you know. I'm not very picky, as long as someone puts in evident effort, I'm a happy GM. But if someone looks to be shirking responsibility on purpose, then I get feisty. But if you think you can post what you did in your background regularly, then I'm happy to accept you, your CS doesn't look like it needs any real tweaks or fixes, save for anymore clarification you have for your weapons. ^^

Genkai said Do the colors represent various events? (ex: Green disrupts signal, yellow creates some sort of gooey entrapment, etc)
I've thought of doing that initially but I decided no, at least not from the start. There could be events as well as increasing the number of colour balls as an upgrade or a downloaded skill during the role play after your permission, but if fighting scenes would be as minor as I am assuming this role play to play out, then chances are the colour balls won't get any events.
Genkai said How are they summoned? Mentally with a hand in the air? Or are they carried on the Corrector?
I'll add this in the CS. Mentally with a hand in the air.

I know you got your answer and this isn't a question but what did you mean by 'his Corrector alias wouldn't take advantage of [his physical skills]' ? just curious.

Well fighting will happening more frequently than "infrequently" when they do happen, they should only take 1-3 rounds at the very most. Fighting for Correctors is their job but I intend to keep fighting scenes only out of necessity if they are important to the plot or are a way to introduce a new enemy or ally. But still your characters should be used to fights (hard or easy) and considering yours is getting on in years, if you'd like to make colors or sizes have more specific purpose, by all means.

Side Character G said I'll add this in the CS. Mentally with a hand in the air.

Okie dokie,

Correctors, unlike every day people, use their own physical endurance and health in the DgtWld. So I considered his training may be something he'd use to his benefit. Since if you're injured online as a Corrector, it does injure your body in real life.

I understand this, though I was envisioning Eclipse to show a more martial art oriented combat despite his current standings because it is a skill he already possess. Perhaps it is also because I figured Eclipse would be subconsciously old-fashioned in the sense that he would rely on his own body and mind to protect him more so than technology due to his upbringing. His weapon is therefore a support or distractions for the more faster/enhanced-senses types of Vs and thus chose the balls; I'm assuming he hasn't met any severely difficult Vs up until now, plus he's not anti-social and is willing to get help from other Correctors unless there's a specific reason and so he wouldn't have had a need for any more events than the signal disruption and temporary impairment with the stickiness mentioned on the CS. Not to mention I came up with at least two hundred different types of events that could be embed to the weapon but the amount of versatility sounded suspiciously overpowered. In the end I rolled a number out of the RNG to make the maximum number of balls and events.

I just wasn't. sure if I could put karate as 'weapon of choice' because it... isn't exactly a weapon. Probably should've mentioned in the history now that I think about it.

Okay I'm heading to bed, stayed up all night watching movies. I wish you blessings and fae of good tides be with you~

EDIT: Included "Combat Skills - Decent physical ability from training, honed and working out every day once again in order to fight with Vs. Hand-to-hand combat will be his main skill while using the colour balls as a means to obstruct or distract the opponents just enough to land a finishing blow or similar." on Weapon Choice.

Since he is older, he could always change his weapon of choice, if you'd like. I'm just advising as a heads up, if he's going to be more of a supporting player (in the fighting sense), make sure it's something wide enough to help his friends. He's got enough experience to have a nit more fun and free-range, of course if he's from a small sector, he probably hasn't had the need to change if the Vs he's encountered have been lightweights. So if you want, you can change his skill set to karate, hand to hand combat has its fair share of pros and cons.

Name: Tylbalt Dietiker (Swiss Nationality)

Alias: Abeoclimax

Age: 19

Appearance: pm me

Corrector Appearance: pm me

Weapon of Choice: Modified rapier with electric capabilities. The hilt of the blade is black and the actual blade is a baby blue color with a tip as sharp as a katana.

Cellphone: Modified iPod Touch, fifth generation. (Tybalt is a simplest in nature and takes deep interest on "classical" technology)

Personality:
Positive: Quick Witted, Satirical, Levelheaded, Charming
Negative: Prideful, Unmerciful

Background:

Before DGTWorld:

Born in Switzerland of a married couple of wealthy financial advisors, the most advanced technology was never out of arms length from Tybalt. His parents have always been distant from him, and as a result he has always been semi-independent. From a young age Tybalt began experimenting with computers and cellular devices, and through the internet, he developed a sincere love for music and the arts. Never a talented musician or performer, his exceptional intelligence kept him at par with the competition around him. On this outside this boy seemed to be a compassionate individual that loves every aspect of life, but his outlook all changed with his parents divorce that occurred shortly after the DGTWorld became widespread.

After the DGTWorld: Unable to cope with the divorce of his partner alone, his father took to drinking and as reality steadily slipped away from his father'a mind, violence and abuse towards Tybalt followed in suit. His bond with his father was weak and there was no strong positive relationship. Tybalt viewed his father as an obstacle now, so he created this malicious virus that copied and destroyed all of his fathers data on his cellphone to this: ultimately killing his father. With full control of millions of dollars and the problem of a parent out of the way, he took refuge with his mother, who nurtured him more than ever. The government soon caught wind of his crime, but Tybalt persuaded them into allowing him to do community service, serving as a Corrector and they agreed after he shared his story of abuse. There was only one lingering, emotionally damaging side effect to the abuse which was his even more highly addictive, dependence on music. A fan of the Aristotelian outlook on tragedy, music that moved him to catharsis was best suited for him, and his collection was mainly based on the saddest albums in existence. I.E. :Hospice - The Antlers. The Devil and God are Raging Inside of Me- Brand New and Déjà Entudo- Brand New.

Additional Details:

-Tybalt works best independently and has a blatant disrespect for authority. This is a major character flaw as well as his Unmerciful reactions to anger, but he is slow to rage.

-Will not find a love interest.

Additionally, I can post on this more than once a day when I log in, which will be about 5 days a week.

Also, can Tybalt switch to be antagonistic shortly before his death? If not, it's okay, but it would fit his background and the character development I had in mind.

On the basis he's more of an independent person (who could turn antagonistic) I'm really hesitant to give him the "ok." And he's not one for authority, the Gvn is pretty strict with guidelines and wouldn't want to invest in such a risk. While the background of the character does explain his social issues, I'm never really a supporter of characters who have so much bad luck in their life (ex: divorce, alcholism, criminal record) because it's such a risk to have characters who have gone through so much crap. They tend to wear it like armor and your character hasn't really gotten past it all. It's just a lot of red flags as a GM. If you want your character to be more of a real antagonist, we'd nee to talk further since I tend to give slots to people who've showed their activity and merit in the story itself down the line.

Alright, I made this is two sittings, and I'm never quite as confident when I have to do that, but hopefully everything's up to snuff. Doesn't really need to be said, but critique is welcome.
Name: Sarah Blaise

Alias in the DgtWld: Serenade

Age: 23

Average Appearance:

Corrector Appearance:

Weapon of Choice: Spear, as in the picture.

Serenade is a lancer, and specializes in combat using a large two-handed cross-spear, which she considers a versatile and well-rounded weapon. Her seniority has ensured that she is updated frequently, and over time she has developed the ability to create smaller spears and javelins, as well as other polearms such as halberds or tridents (though making anything particularly exotic requires a decent amount of time and mental fortitude.) As she gained experience, her defenses improved and she became more capable of defending her comrades. She has learned tactics and stances that minimize the damage done to her or her teammates, and has developed into sort of a 'tank' role as her fighting style evolved, though she can also perform as a heavy attacker. Despite her purported versatility, however, she has not trained her speed, and because of the weight of her weapons, she often puts herself in the way of danger, and has a difficult time running from an attack or a group of enemies.

Cell Phone: (Couldn't find a good picture of what I imagined)
Sarah's cell phone is nothing particularly new or exciting. It has a flat touchscreen interface that networks with a pair of visor-like glasses that she wears, sending data to be streamed right in front of her eyes, when she's not completely immersed in Cnnt.

Personality:
+ Loyal -- Sticks with her friends and unflinchingly follows orders
+ Agreeable -- Likes people and is friendly toward strangers
+ Impassive -- Doesn't react strongly to things, allowing calm thought in any situation
+ Tenacious -- Pursues any goals she sets for herself until they are completed, no matter how big or small.
- Quiet -- Tends not to speak unless it's necessary (communicates in other ways when possible)
- Oblivious -- Often gets lost in thought, tends to stop paying attention if something doesn't hold her interest

Background:
Sarah Blaise's parents were not pioneers in child abandonment, but for the first ten years or so of Sarah's life they would prove to be heavy contenders in that field. Not for lack of love or lack of effort, it simply seemed that one or both of them were always at work. Adult life is hard, Sarah was taught, and things didn't always work out the way you wanted them to. With no other frame of reference, the young child accepted this as simply the norm, and quickly grew to near-independance. She walked to her nearby school every day in the morning after making her lunch, and was picked up afterward by her mother. After bringing her the short distance home, her mother would leave for her second job and her father would come home, exhausted from his own long work hours. He would prepare and eat dinner, and then sleep for the rest of the evening.

Sarah had always had a cell phone. It was necessary to support her family dynamic. So when the emerging trend of MChips finally reached the shores of Canada, she was one of the first people in the country to latch on to the tech. And when the Canadian Government started to follow the US's example and hire Correctors, she was quickly sought out. Her psych profile fit what they were looking for exactly. Quiet. Loyal. Willing to take on any job for low or no pay. And of course, she never asked any questions. Because of her early enlistment, rather than being paired with a Senior Correcter (since there weren't really any who were more senior) she was put into a small group of novices under the care of a Gvn Agent. After two years, she was the only person in that group to still be willing and able to do the job.

During her five years of service, she has been assigned several novices who grew to be successful in their own right, and she became something of an icon to the Canadian DgtWld users. To those who know about Correctors, including new blood, she is a minor celebrity. Not only that, but her real life appearance is often used as a 'model' for various Canadian-based advertising campaigns as well, especially by the Government. She is recognized for her distinctive headphones - an odd choice of hardware when music can be streamed directly into your brain. While it would be rare to know who exactly she is or what she does, many Canadian DgtWld users would probably know her face. Because of this, Sarah began spending more and more time in the DgtWld, taking as many jobs as she could, and dropping out of school. Her real life time was spent in various Gvn offices doing photoshoots or signing paperwork and release forms, and her time in the DgtWld was spent doing her Corrector work and other odd jobs for the Gvn. Pursuing your career above all else was just the normal course of things, just like Sarah learned when she was young.

Her current life mostly revolves around her duties as a Corrector, tutoring rookies and performing her other tasks as efficiently as she can manage. She lives with her parents still, and in her off hours she tidies the house and makes sure everything runs smoothly. Modelling is mostly her cover job, since her parents don't know about her actual, more dangerous work, and it is the reason they let her drop out of school. She is almost always plugged into her music, and while she doesn't have a specific genre preference, she often uses it as a sort of emotional regulator. Her own dulled emotions respond the greatest to musical stimulus, so she relies on that same stimulus when she needs to feel a certain way. This is the reason that her Avatar wears headphones as well.

She has been called into Tokyo for work, and with her flight expenses paid, her parents had little say in stopping her (and they might not have even noticed her absence if she hadn't said anything.) All of her stuff was shipped to a luxury hotel in Tokyo and it serves as her base of operations for now.
Do you want our characters to already know each other?
Yeah, or at least assume they've already been introduced. Awkward introductions slow the beginning pace of an RP, and I think more people drop during this time than most other times.

Do you often frequent an OOC of a RP you're in?
Pretty much whenever I'm online. Making long posts takes time, but just chatting the OOC is a good way to keep people interested and reassure them that we're still active.

How active can you see yourself being in this RP?
A post every couple of days, probably. My work schedule's fickle, but I can usually give warning if I'm going to be away for a week (and it usually is just a week at a time.) If I'm at work it might be one post a week, but I'm pretty open to other people taking over my character if I'm not around, either to get her out of the way, or to polish off an interaction they might be stuck in.

Any questions you have for me?
Not that I can think of. I'm the type to figure things out by doing them, so I'll pick it up as I go.

--

Future Genres: I'm pretty cool with whatever happens down the line. If you think you have a good reason to make a genre shift, I'm open to it. But I don't think I'd like to see something shoehorned in. Especially post-apoc. Frankly, there's too many samey post-apoc stories in advanced for my tastes and - like anything overused - I'm not super hype about the idea. That said, if that's the turn it happens to take, and we take a logical path in that direction, I'll be happy enough.

Post Frequency: As much as maybe twice a day, and my minimum is probably closer to twice a week. I work shifts and contracts, so I can't honestly promise anything more specific than that. If I don't work on a given day, I'll be happy to post as many times as needed. But if I have work throughout the whole week, I don't necessarily have time to post every day. For the immediate future, I don't work until much closer to the end of the month, so you can expect a strong start from me.

Post Amount: Unless I'm really pressured to squeeze something out in a time limit, I like to post several paragraphs (This is a pretty good example of my average I think.) I'll match and/or try to slightly exceed what's presented to me though. If everyone writes 9 pages, I can match that without much trouble. But if everyone's posting 2-3 paragraphs, well, of course it becomes hard to keep up, and I'm forced to slim down my word count.

My final is tomorrow, time to summon math demons. I should do fine though, have a solid B going into it, should stay that way by the end I hope. Then my friend and I will drink copious amounts of alcohol and stuff our faces with tons of junk food. So I may be indisposed for a day or two while I deal with that clean up and everything but then I will be so free, no longer weighed down by academic crap. For a while at least. And hopefully more people around here will also be breaking the shackles of schooling. Or locked away due to their own finals.

Ahem.

@Krauxis: You mentioned siblings, are you playing her brother/sister as well, or is there a character here who is her relative?

Someone from the CND Gvn eh? Interesting.

I'm fine with your character overall, though I will say her fame wouldn't be as great as you're making it. She'd be a fine Dazzler (someone in the far future who is a well known hacker/corrector and is used for public appearances and hero worship) but currently the Gvn wouldn't use her image or name for advertizing on or offline. All Gvn would be very secretive about who is working for them and anyone signed on as a Corrector is sworn to secrecy in terms of their job, salary (which would be high + perks). Of course she can be notable online by her "image" and "alias" however it would be simple due to word of mouth and online forums about the rumors of there being real people inside the DgtWld. She could model and everything but she would not be allowed to use her Gvn avatar, which is something the public would be unaware of. If she did model on the side, it would need to be in person, but still could be used for ads online, banners, commercials etc.

Since she'll be brought in overseas, it would be likely for our characters to have heard of one another, if she's known for her fighting (I assume that's why she's be slightly well known?). At the start, would you have her already situated in Tokyo, pretty much settled and ready to meet everyone? It could be safe to assume they've met online (whoever all is accepted) as their Corrector selves at least once before meeting IRL.

@defineunique: Yes I am, sorry for the random disappearances, I've got the house to myself and I'm studying for a final so it generally means lazing about and taking care of the stupid dogs. >.<'

Have I gotten to everyone? *looks around wearily* ^^;

Regarding siblings... Where did you infer that from? I don't think I mentioned it at all? Either way, it wasn't my intention for her to have siblings. I did mention her parents, but they're not really relevant (or really even present)

As for her fame, yeah, I wasn't really intending for her to be super fabulous or anything. First of all, I didn't imagine her real identity would be known at all, aside from her parents who would know that she is working as a model. But the public wouldn't have any connection between her real image and her digital avatar. Serenade would be recognizable from advertising, and people would know that she is a model, but that wouldn't be connected to her job as a corrector. It's like leading a double life. There's Serenade the model, that people would know of, and then Serenade the Corrector, who nobody would know of except other correcters. 'Sarah Blaise' wouldn't be known to anybody.

Unless from that bit you meant that she wouldn't be allowed to use the same avatar for modelling as she did for her work as Corrector? Or that modeling as an avatar is totally improbable, and that the modeling would need to be done in person? (Sorry if my questions are roundabout or hard to understand, I'm just going through layers here trying to get a sense for it >.>)

I didn't originally intend for her to be all that well-known outside of the general sphere of 'Canada' since I assume most countries would prefer to keep their Correctors a secret, and I doubt any outside country would be using Canadian government propaganda or ad campaigns. I tried to keep my fame and skill level relative to just that sphere so that I didn't come off as super famous or the best. She's just one of the most veteran in the country, so other Canadian Correctors are familiar with her name and skill.

Hopefully that clarifies things a bit. I'm more than willing to make any hard changes, I just wanted to be sure we were talking about the same things when I did.

Edit: Also, for good measure, good luck on your final. Take your time to do whatever you need to do, I'll be around, I'm sure.

I know what I saw (stupid vision impairment) I misread your mention of doing it in two sittings, as two siblings. Dumb GM is dumb. Sorry.

Anyway I'm here, I'm back. I'm done. I've kicked ass, got my final done and the final grade for the class and I'm pretty happy about it so that is a load off my shoulders for at least a month or two. So yes I am ready to get into this, help any applicants who still need help, ensure people who are accepted, are still interested and are indeed around. *nods and chugs a soda for energy*
