There seemed to be a lot going on in the mess hall, but Manny didn't have much to do with it. Nor did he have a solid idea of what was going on. Though he was curious, he was ready for things to settle down a bit. Sitting by Lisa after getting his food he ate at a comfortable pace. Sure, the time wasn't too long for food. But it was long enough that he didn't have to rush as long as he didn't get too distracted. It seemed things were pretty calm overall where most of the people were sitting which was nice.

Snapping back to where Manny was sitting, seemed that is was primarily him and Lisa. "I think I will be heading over today." Talking about the funeral, though he wouldn't admit he felt weird about it. He actually didn't know anyone who had died. The closest being Gavin who had died in front of him when he chose to save Thana... who was mobile almost instantly. Manny knew he let that get to him more then he should have, but he couldn't let it go. What would have happened if he had decided to try and save Gavin first? Would Thana have died? IF that was the case was there even a decision he could have made then? Especially with what he knew now? He stopped himself from thinking those thoughts. There were better things to think about. "I'll do whatever I can though before I leave. No reason to slack off on my part because I am leaving early. The opposite as long as these old bones will let me." It was a simple conversation that Manny enjoyed, the simple ones were the best in his mind.

As the conversation moved on, he found it continued to his time here so far. "The sleep was good. The morning alarm will take some getting used too, but I have worked with worse." Being the only doctor of his former dentist office years ago, made it so he always had a busy schedule. Sure, he enjoyed the work, but it was long hours back to back. This felt pretty standard for the old doctor. "So, if given the chance what would you like to get into? Career wise I mean. Like is there a specific area in medical that peaks your interest? Or is there something outside of medical that you would like to try someday?" Everyone has dreams, and depending how this place worked, many former world dreams could still apply here.

Hunter Monroe

Lunch was weird. Granted Hunter thought this whole place was weird. And people were weird. And fish were weird. And just so happen that lunch had all of the above. He was thinking about what the guy named Guy said. Could that mess himself and ash really be cause by one person? And if so, that seemed like a logistical nightmare, having two people dedicated to cleaning one room that was messed up from one person. It didn't make sense. But that wasn't his to to make sense of it. If the people here really wanted to do that then fine, whatever. The guy named Guy seemed nice though, and put in a good word for Ash. Not that he had too much against Ash, and most of what eh did have against him was following quarantine.

He heard a comment about being back on his feet coming from Bass. Hunter didn't take any malice from him when he said it, in fact it seemed nice. But for some reason, he felt like he wanted to fight Bass. Particularly take a lunch tray and whip it sideways like an axe. He didn't, but Hunter stared at the man with deep thought as he sat comfortably in his seat. Hunter wasn't sure why he felt such aggression towards the man, but maybe he reminded Hunter of someone he knew. But if that was the case then who? Surely if Hunter hated someone that much he would remember them? After a failed attempt at a quiet apology towards Nigel, he wondered how badly he fucked up the night before with how many people responded to his comment. Mostly what he thought was "Oh shit who else do I have to apologize towards?" He wasn't sure, but he was sure he would find out. Hopefully not at knife point. What surprised him was that it wasn't scorning, but... people were accepting his apology. He didn't really expect that. Sure, people tolerated him, but he didn't expect.... all of this. Even Ash, the former army Captain offered to talk about his problems and how he got past them. Hunter figured he may take him up on that offer.

Hunter was confused when Nigel said he knew who needed the apology the most. And Hunter at that moment. Had no idea. And it showed on his face. It wasn't until he noticed Nikki walking in he understood. "Oh.... shit. Right...." Hunter got up, dealt with his tray, and walked over to Nikki. He knew if he wasn't fast he was going to be late, but this needed to be done. Hunter rushed across the mess hall and went up to Nikki and Amelia. He didn't know much about Amelia other then she was close friends with the other girl, and that she brushed him off when they were in quarantine. He found it weird, but moved on as he had his own priorities. "Nikki, I am short on time so I will make it quick. First, sorry because I will have to leave the moment I stop speaking here. Next, I think I did some pretty stupid things last night, so sorry for that too I don't know what exactly... I said or did... but I remember you being upset so... sorry. I'll make better steps to not do...what I did last night again." He stopped for a moment to catch his thoughts. Then spoke again. "I also understand that if what I am saying now means nothing compared to what I did last night, from what I can gather it seemed pretty.... bad. So sorry again... but I have to go... Izibel needs to go out before I go back to work...." He left with nearly no time to spare. He gave a wave to Amelia because fuck it. Best case scenario he could figure out why she brushed him off. Worst case scenario, she got all confused and her confusion would amuse Hunter.

Hunter ran to his apartment, unsure of the time, but knowing this needed to be done. He was met by his massive body of love and muscle opening the door. He let her know what a good girl she was, and took her outside to poop in the designated area. He rushed her along as she wanted to take her time, and then despite his loving dogs protests, brought her back inside. Though he did spend a moment petting her and letting her know it wouldn't be forever. He wasn't sure of that but she seemed like she needed the reassurance.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
Date: July 23rd, 2012
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
Lunch for Camp Mexico Beach runs from 1100 hours until 1430 hours with the last lunch beginning at 1330 hours. These hours tend to make the camp seem much busier than normal. People moving quickly to ensure that they have everything done in time for their shift or rushing out of the lunch room to get back to their duties before time is up. Having so many people in a confined area, many older, some very young, makes it difficult to have things run on time but from the general look of things they manage.

Administration (A): The General was inside Administration, more specifically he was downstairs looking around at what the two had gotten done so far while they were taking their meal. As they came back in he looked over to Thalia and Alexander. "My you have made some progress down here, most delightful." The man was very pleased about the progress. Even more had been made since Thalia and Alexander had left for lunch. Garbage had been taken up, boxes and bags that were full and ready for supply had been taken out as well.

"It will be nice to put this room to use once you are finished," the General added as he leaned against one of the tables slightly and rested his cane next to him. "We normally don't have the staff to spare to do little side projects like this but when I read your files I knew you were the two I needed." Motioning towards one of the walls. "Other side of that wall is our communications, how we keep in touch with people when we can when they are out on runs, among other things. We are hoping to move it in here, larger room, bigger operation. Something we have wanted to do for a while now but we haven't had certain necessities," he explained. "Mostly people who know such things," he added pointing at the two of them. "You are just what the doctor ordered."

The General seemed delighted at the prospect as he stood back up fully and took his cane. "Well I will leave you to it, see you this evening," he said before making his way back out. The two had more cleaning to do it seemed and now they knew why they were working on that specific room. Seemed the job wasn't random, they had been picked for a purpose.

Hospital (B): After the bell rings and third lunch is over Mary comes down and looks around. "Looking better, listen, need you two at the Water Repair Shop at 2, sorry, 1400 hours," she said in a slightly annoyed voice over the military time. "Sea team is back and their vessel needs a full clean down of their medical and Medic is gonna need a full restock on the boat. He will be back from lunch by that time. So do what you can here, then run those results," she said pointing towards the files sitting on the table, "over to Admin, then head over to the Shop," she said before giving a last look around, a curt nod and heading back out.

It seemed that Mary was keeping the new team on their feet. Lisa would be used to this, Sea Team was a big deal and would go out for weeks at a time, they had their own personal medic for the trips and they were the ones that brought in a lot of the food for the camp. Clean up usually though would take a good four hours alone. Together it would still take more time that Manny had before he left, unless they really knocked it out. That would have to wait and see as they still had some more to finish up down there for now.

Mess Hall (C): Bass lifted his head from taking a bite of his food, casserole, and glanced around the room. Spotting Nikki and seeing her make a beeline for a place other than where he was sitting caused a surprised look to come across his features. His eyes darting around the room for a moment as he seemed to take in the rest of the place before going back to her. A sigh left the man before he looked down and went back to eating.

Joaquin, on the other hand, seemed over joyed that someone was actively trying to engage him instead of blowing him off: even if it did come with insult. One that made the Latino raise his hand and bite his thumb at Nigel. As he pulled his thumb away he gave a sly crooked grin. "Never get in a battle of wits with a Gonzales when death is on thy line for thou may find that he meets his maker far before he imagined." It was a clear taunt, said in jest, but those not knowing Joaquin might easily believe that he was as serious as a heart attack. Whether he was or not was hard to tell as his attention was diverted by his sister. "My angel, leaving so soon? Parting is such sweet sorrow but fret not! I shall find thee again! And we shall speak of such wonderful things as to make thys head spin!" Granted, just talking to Joaquin might make anyone's head spin.

Mizrahi glanced around between bites but mostly kept to himself and his meal. Others were quickly trying to get out. Cook sighed as Cheers went out the door. Shaking her head she looked over to Mizrahi, who seemed to sense something. "Ask her for me, she'll listen to ya," she insisted. Mizrahi looked at the woman as if he had no clue what she was talking about. "Ask Sparrow to go on a run, she'll listen to you, please? I'll make baklava." Mizrahi seemed to grumble under his breath but nodded as he stood up and went to bus his tray. He wanted to get out of there as well now and regretted taking his time with his meal.

Others were sitting and eating, watching what was going on as people started making their way out of the place to make sure they were on their way and to get back to work before the speakers went off. Guy hurried with his tray, and ran over to Amelia. "Hey girl!" he said before hugging her without warning. "Boss said you made it back, good to see ya. Would talk more but I gotta get to work, will catch ya at dinner I hope," he said before rushing off, giving Nikki a bit of a wave. The speakers did go off a little bit after Guy rushed out of the Mess Hall. Third lunch shift was over, forth was now halfway through, and fifth was starting. Others started coming in a short time later. Morales came out of the kitchen and set himself down with his food and Auntie by his side. She must have come in the back way. Chase came in and sat down, her hair wind blown and everywhere. Riley came in ad grabbed a tray, looking around and spotting Amelia, whom she made a bee line for. Tati and Jack came in with Jamie behind Hank. Everyone moving to get trays and get their food as well.

Lunch Choices: Slab of tuna casserole (Hot): tuna baked with handmade thick noodles, mixed with mushrooms and peas with cream and a hint of sherry ~*~ Sushi (Multiple Variations): Has Run Out! ~*~ Tuna Salad (Chilled): Tuna with peas/carrots/pasta with olives and a zesty dressing over it.

Mechanics (K): "I really don't care, I had my requisition in, get it done," Rivets snapped towards Tesla and Volts. The two exchanged a look between each other before Tesla threw his hands up and walked back into Fabrication. "Where the hell is he going?"

"Where does it look like Cracker?" Volts said with an eye roll.

"What did you call me?"

"Cracker, cracker, crack crack, cracker," Volts said, mocking a stutter. It was clearly pissing Rivets off. "Oh calm your tits whitey. We'll do it but if you want to pitch a bitch you go talk to Gunny. Sea Team is back they get priority, you know that honky!" he added before acting like he was tossing his hair and strutting off like he was Ru Paul, he glanced back just long enough to stick his tongue out at the woman and then slamming the door.

It was about that time that the bell went off, signalling the end of third lunch and the start of fifth, and only half way covered the slew of grunts of curses Rivets let out before storming off herself. Mizrahi slowly inched himself out from under the truck he had been under and glanced around. Glad to see the woman was gone. He didn't want to get caught in that cross fire. Standing up he walked over to the work bench and sat down. He seemed to shake his head a bit before he started degreasing some tools that were laid out.

Hydroponic Garden (T): "Other than this place smells like horse shit, no," Atlas grumbled with a raspy voice to answer Thana's question. "'Bout made me not want to eat." The man paused before continuing. "Almost," he finally added before leaving his post now that Thana was back and the guy that was working with her was there as well. His job was done. The place did smell a little ripe but that was to be expected as it seemed that they had to use what they could get their hands on to keep things growing and as any good gardener knows one has to shovel a lot of manure to make things grow. The place didn't smell as bad as it could. At least the wind was moving decently enough to help carry some of the smell away, enough so it didn't just linger. Inside it didn't matter, it was hot and the smell of plants far out weighed anything else in there.

General Housing (X): Hunter was good so far when it came to caring for his dog and making sure that she wasn't under foot. Keeping her in his room and not letting her roam freely in the apartment when he wasn't there. He did share the apartment with four other guys that had items they had worked for and earned in the apartment and Hunter was the only one with a dog. That was a good start. Who knew, maybe once the guys got to know the dog she could be kept in the main area but this was starting off right. Outside however, he did forget to clean up her mess. So when he exits the apartment he will find a blonde woman standing there in scrubs about to knock.

"Oh hey, you must be the new guy," she said looking him up and down. "I'm Sheryl, the Vet," she added introducing herself. Glancing around she seemed to be taking note of something before looking back at Hunter. "Saw you taking Iz back inside so figuring that pile out there in the quad area is hers. Suggest you get it cleaned up before someone else spots it or that's a major violation around here," she warned as she pulled a bag out of her pocket and slapped it into his palm. Turning she started to walk off before spinning around on her heels. Still walking, this time backwards, "Should bring her out to playtime in the evenings, behind the vet building, 2000 hours, let her get play with the other dogs," she suggested before turning back around and running off back towards the direction of the vet building.

Thana quirked a brow at Atlas and then sighed a bit. "I think if ya weren't bitchin' 'bout somethang then you'd die," she quipped to Atlas's assessment of how the area around the gardens smelled. Far as she was concerned it smelled priceless. Things were growing, they had fruits and vegetables, it could smell like Rivets bathroom for all she would care as long as things kept growing. Too many things died in this world, if you could coax anything to grow it was a damn miracle and as Nigel had pointed out, this was pretty damn close to the Hanging Gardens of Babylon.

The thought of death hit a bit as she knew the Funeral time for the others were coming up. She wasn't going with them, otherwise she could have told Ash she would see him then than at dinner. She had already seen it, payed her respects to James and Gavin and the others. She was the reason they had been moved to the camp to be buried. Maybe she should have put in to go. Been there for Ash when he said a final goodbye to the others. No, she had work to do and a debt to pay. He could say goodbye without her, be there for the others from Newnan. Then again there were the others from Team Eden: Thalia, Alexander, Manny. They would be saying goodbye to others as well. Well Manny might not go, he didn't know the ones that died really. Barely seeing Gavin before he was killed and never seeing Lola as she was killed before he was found. Alexander probably would she suspected as he showed up with Lola and Thalia. And well, Thalia would have to go say goodbye to the Kiwi. Yeah, she might should have put in to go but she didn't, that debt was eating away at the back of her mind. Debt for this and for that, debt she was reminded off each time she saw someone from Newnan or Eden. Until that was taken care of she really couldn't take time for anything else.

Taking a deep breath Thana looked over towards Nigel as he asked her what was next. It snapped her out of her thought process and back on the here and now. "Actually, no. We're gonna close up the slats now, let the place start retaining as much heat as it can. After that's done, we're gonna take supplies down to the other garden," she said before she started on exactly what she had just mentioned. "Think ya might appreciate the other one. I means if ya like this one and all the other really puts this one to shame," Thana added as she moved down the line one one side of the green house. Setting the slats down wasn't hard, easier than getting them up in the morning. Was simple enough work and didn't take half the time it had that morning.

Dusting off her hands as the last one was pulled down into place on her side her head lifted up as she heard the crackle in the speakers. Third lunch was officially over now, forth was half way through, and fifth had just started. Ones the bell was done going off and the speaker went quiet again, Thana looked over to Nigel and had a little bit of a concerned look o her features. "Though it does pose a question," she started as she limped over to him and tilted her head to the side. "Can you swim?" she asked. It was a bit out of place but Thana had her reasons for asking, it was clear that she was going somewhere with this as she continued. "If ya can't that's alright, just let's me know how much equipment we need to take with us."

Shoving a bite full of food into her mouth, Nikki had to force her lips together as she chewed. Her eyes locking with Bass as he looked over to her. She kept chewing, her eyes looking off to one side and then down. Her foot tapping beneath the table as she counted off ten slow seconds before looking back in Bass's direction. Thankfully by the time she swallowed her bite Bass wasn't looking at her anymore and Amelia was now with her. That was a relief, it meant she wasn't alone anymore and that cut down on the chances of someone coming to bother her, or at least she hoped it would. She just wanted to eat her lunch and get back to work. "Basically she's givin' you a free be. You get to go through the clothing and such, find something to wear, and it's yers. Auntie will charge it to house or herself to cover it. Isn't every day she let's someone grab something, she must like you for some reason," Nikki said getting to the clothing question before circling back to what would be a longer explanation.

Turning her in seat slightly she half covered her face as she leaned on her elbow. "See the tall guy over there? Darker skin with the bright green eyes?" she said jerking her head in Bass's direction. "That's Ray, we kind of had a tumble last night. It wasn't clear exactly what she was saying but she quickly fixed that. "In bed. Was good but kicked him out of bed this morning. He wants more, I just want fun and fucking," she said rather bluntly before taking another bite of her lunch and straightening herself a bit. "Don't get me wrong. He's sweet, sexy as hell, and damn good all around but shit, I'm 20, ain't looking for anything romantic. Don't want that." Shoveling a bit more into her mouth she chewed and swallowed before continuing. "Nothing against anyone that does but fuck, I couldn't handle that shit Sparrow and what's his name went through. I ain't no epic quest bitch," she added.

Just as she was raising her fork for her next bite Nikki's hopes of being left alone by men during lunch was dashed as Hunter just walked right over. She sat there, mouth open, fork hovering as he unloaded his apology on her and then rushed out. She continued to sit there, even after he was out of the Mess Hall, dumbfounded by just what happened. It wasn't until her fork fell out of her hand and hit the tray that she snapped out of it. "What in the sugar free fuck just happened?" she asked the air before blinking. Slowly her head turned towards Amelia. "Did I near that right? He apologized for shit he doesn't know he is apologizing for while knowing he is being rushed and apologizing fer that? Ain't that like saying sorry while you back hand someone?" It wasn't that Nikki was really expecting an answer for what just happened, more like she was trying to wrap her head around it.

Shaking her head she picked up her fork and stabbed her food. "Wow... Forget that, I ain't some rush job! Man could have asked if I had a moment, could have asked to speak later, fucker needs some damn manners. You don't just interrupt people and think because yer apologizing it's cool. Fuck him," Nikki ranted before eating what she had just rekilled on her plate. Chewing she looked up and spotted Bass looking at her before heaving to leave himself, along with a lot of others to get moving before their lunch was over. "Avoid one get the other, gotta pick who is the lesser of two fucking evils," Nikki groaned after a bit.

Seemed Guy had spotted her, no it wasn't her he spotted. It was Amelia. Seemed he was going to say hello. She did however return the wave as he rushed off. The two of them weren't exactly tight. Taking another bite she chewed her food. Eyes darting up when the bell went off through the speakers. "We're half way through, we better hurry," Nikki said. Their lunch was now half way over and third lunch was officially over. That was good in her mind, it meant she wouldn't have to run into Hunter or Bass out on the streets as they would be working now. Then she remembered evening shift, she might.. Maybe she could avoid them. That could work. Right? Sure. Looking down at her plate she was surprised that she had actually eaten everything during her angry rant.

Nikki was about to say something when she spotted Riley coming in and getting a tray. "Hey, here, be back in Supply before the next bell, you got about twenty-five minutes, leave in fifteen to be safe or twenty to push it," she said as she slipped her watch off and laid it down next to Amelia's tray. Grinning she figured she'd give the two a few minutes alone. Rushing off, she bused her tray and headed out of the Mess Hall. Granted she was in no hurry. She had time, so she took it, strolling slowly towards Supply. Spotting Hank heading towards the Mess hall himself and then there was the couple with the kid now long behind him. She gave a little wave before making her way into supply itself.

Admittedly, as lunches went, this was one of the more memorable ones. Were Ash the diary keeping type, he would have definitely given this one its own page. Maybe even with diagrams in the margin and little stick figure images demonstrating the positions of the key players in the very memorable lunch, each accounting for the change of personnel as work shifts picked back up. Right at that moment, he was looking back to the withdrawing form of Thalia who, despite the difference in accent and skin tone, was beginning to remind him very much of her cousin. Or her uncle. It was a little eerie, actually. Having now met a few members of their family, Ash was both impressed and disturbed. They were all cut from very similar cloth.

At least, that's the impression that he had until Joaquin started to speak again. Nope, here was one who, to outside appearances, had very little in common with his people's overall demeanor. But to hell with it. He seemed happy and wasn't hurting anybody. Far be it for Ash to pass judgement. He was in too good of a mood, himself. Certainly not because of the job he had to get back to (though it was within his philosophy that every job was important and aided in the survival of those within the community), but in the overall way that things worked out for himself and a number of people close to him. With that in mind, he did have a job to get back to.

The military man in him remembered that he could make short work of the food in front of him, like back in basic training, and even in a way that gave the appearance of manners. And while he might have liked to stick around for a bit longer and socialize, Ash's attentions were mostly for Thana at that point, enamored with the idea of getting back a loved one who he thought he had lost. Plus, he wanted to keep a positive impression with the people in charge of the settlement. So after Thana and the comparatively light-skinned Gonzalez left, along with Alexander and the others with the previous lunch shift, Ash made note of it and finished off his Tuna Casserole with haste. To a lesser extent, it seemed a shame to rush such a dish. Maybe he was biased by the vastly lesser quality of food he had to settle for while on the road for all of that time, but Ash figured that were he incarcerated for an extended period of time, memories of said casserole would might be one of the things which sustained him on particularly lonely nights. (TUNA CASSEROLE!)

But next time, he was getting the salad.

In any case, after his plate was clear, Ash rose and addressed the table. "If you all will excuse me," he said, nodding. It was a touch more formal than the occasion probably deserved. His mind was halfway elsewhere and the gaps were filled in with his officer-y default settings. "See you for supper." He turned and moved to bus his tray, then exited the Mess Hall. Were his mind fully in the here and now, he might have overheard a discussion about Thana being asked to make a run outside the walls, but that moment was lost to him for the present. In any case, Ash wanted to get back to Mechanics as quickly as possible. He didn't want the looming trip to the gravesites to affect his productivity any more than it had to. Hence the hurried meal and early return to work.

Stepping into the garage, Ash looked to Mizrahi. The guy seemed to be a man of few words. Whether this was because he was a quiet man generally, or his grasp on English was competent but marginal, not unlike Ash's grasp of Spanish, was up for debate. "Unless you need me on something different, I'll get back to that bathroom," he intoned. Work was work. No sense in putting it off.

Cleaning and organizing, separating recyclables, etc. Then again, just about everything was recyclable these days. Either repurposed, used to build something else, or turned into compost. Still, it wasn't a thing that she was used to doing, except for the occasional bit of scavenging for useful odds and ends. Her job today looked like an extension of exactly that. It was still tedious, and to be frank, prevented her from doing the things she was really wanting to do. It was different in Fairburn, when she was hooked up with the reenactors and survivalists. The tasks she did there helped her learn and develop skills that were essential to her survival in the new world. This? Well, someone had to do it. Maybe she does this well and gets a better job. Or the training she desperately needed. Like life outside the walls, you had to put in to get anything out. This more community based application of it was something she would have to get used to if she wanted to stay here with Thana and Joaquin. Fine, and Alexander too, as well as the rest of this collection of misfits and assholes.

But speaking of Alexander, Thalia's thoughts were interrupted by his voice. Yeah, she should wait up for him. "Yah, okay," she mumbled. Cripples had to stick together, right? It was a cynical thought, but probably very true. She didn't say much at first, just listening to him begin converation, and didn't really say much after, either. Point of fact, when he mentioned an "odd fella", Thalia was pretty convinced that he meant her brother. So when he clarified that he meant Nigel, Thalia was a little surprised. "Roman guy, yah," she responded. "No idea. Trying to get sparring time with him." The man knew how to fight with a weapon and shield, and now that her own abilities in that regard were severely abbreviated by her injury, she needed to train.

The mild surprise that she felt during the conversation was revisited with interest when she returned to the basement in Administration. The old man in charge of CMB was there. The final authority figure, and while he had been nothing but a respectable, soft spoken man, Thalia's first instinct was to tense and give a quick glance around her surroundings, doing what she might have to ascertain threats and determine points of exit. Survival mode, slipped back on like an old leather coat; comfortable and protective. Side note, Thalia missed the hell out of her leather jacket. Another thing useful that was lost, kind of like her right hand. She had no idea what the General was talking about at first, but putting two and the square root of four together, things clicked into place a little. Communications. People who know about such things. Thalia and Alexander.

Thalia went to college to be an Electronics Engineer for her uncle's security company, but that wound up being the set of skills that she had used the least since she had acquired them, and barely at all after the Outbreak. Truth was, she was fair at best with them. Competent for everyday work, but hardly an innovator. The biggest claim to fame she had was an amazing stroke of luck rebuilding a satellite phone that would up leading her to the people from Newnan. As for Alex, to the best of her knowledge, he was trained by the Army as a comm guy. This looked a lot more like his cup of tea than hers. And moreover, did that mean that she'd be staying behind as support, in a basement she wasn't fond of being in to begin with? A trickle of annoyance was balance by resignation, the latter born of the painful truth that she wouldn't be back at her best for a while. She swallowed this truth whole and nodded, trying to keep the expression off of her face. "Just let me know where I can help," she said in an even voice.

After the General left, Thalia looked to Alexander. This probably suited him perfectly, and she was actually happy for the man. It couldn't have been easy, losing a leg. And it might be a blessing to feel useful again, if he had been feeling those kind of doubts. "Ahright Mugsy," she began, returning to the piles to sort, "Let's get back at it." As she started to pick through the items in front of her, Thalia gave a lingering thought to lunch. Sushi was something she could definitely get used to, living behind walls.

β€žOhh... That's nice.” Amelia realized after Nikki's explanation that she was technically given a gift when she was allowed to pick up some new clothing. It was going to be free of charge! That's very nice of her. She was surprised, initially believing it would take a long time before she gets anything in this place given the explanation, however they had barely started and Nikki had put a pair of shades in her hands to use while moving about the camp for confirming requests and then Auntie was going to allow her to get clothing.” I will have to thank her properly later.” She said, mostly to herself as the topic moved to Nikki answering her earlier question about the seats.

Following the indication by the girl, Amelia nodded that she had indeed spotted the man. Then the topic turned in a very unexpected for her direction and she blushed slightly and nodded in understanding. So it was a case of just having fun, but the other party wanting more. She was in agreement with Nikki on this. With the intention to saying something, suddenly she was cut in the line, as Hunter appeared, went on an apology speech and left.” Eh...?” She completely forgot what she wanted to say due to this.” I'm not sure... I think it was indeed an apology? Probably?” Amelia tried to reply to Nikki's question, but honestly it took a bit for her to process it also. Was that really a true apology or was it not? Hunter's actions so far were weird over all, so she couldn't judge. She was just glad he didn't stay however... and even more glad the beast wasn't with him.

Amelia returned to eating and having nice time with Nikki when she heard a familiar voice as someone appeared and gave her a surprise hug! She was honestly startled for a bit before she recognized it was Guy.” Hey, Guy. AHmm... hug...” She managed to get a reply, while calming herself down from the sudden surprise of being hugged out of nowhere. It scared the angels out of her! Then her work colleague decided to leave early as Riley was arriving! Amelia's hearth fluttered inside when she saw the musician. She did spot that Nikki left her watch by her tray!” Thank you! I will be on time to return it to you!” She smiled at the girl, very grateful for what she had done and that she was treating her well.

β€œHey, Riley!” Amelia was all smiles now, seeing the person who made anything better in her life so far.” How was your day so far? Hmm what did you pick to eat?” She asked with big expecting eyes. At least they got the chance to have a bit of a lunch time together even if it wasn't much!

β€žMmm, alright. Don't worry, it's alright. It's my job as well and I've been doing it for a long while now. It's no issue for me to finish the cleaning today. It's your first day out of quarantine and into the job. It will take a few days to get into the rhythm of the job. I know it did take me a bit to get used to having a job again.” She smiled reassuringly at him as they chatted." However it's all good. People here know that, and with us two around even if you work less today, it is still a lot of help and time saved. So don't worry and go to teh funeral with calm heart."

β€œHehe, yeah, alarms were a bit much at first for me too. I had gotten used to moving at my own pace as I saw fit on the road, but nowdays I think I somewhat enjoy them. I mean we already go to bed early enough and waking up early, means we get a lot of the day to be productive. Even when not on duty.” Lisa smiled as she explained her own opinion on the alarms. Honestly sometimes she wished to sleep in well into the day, but the job was important and she enjoy it a lot too. So between sleeping in and working at Medical, she'd choose the morning shifts anyday.

β€œUhmm... not sure. I don't really have anything specific I want to get into outside of working at Medical. I enjoy working there a lot and mostly in the pharmaceutical side of things. So there's that and I got to it for the moment.” Lisa mused and thought about it for a brief moment.” Well it's not really a dream about a job or anything, but I suppose I do want to create the biggest rube goldberg machine trap for walkers... Kind of silly, but it's hilarious watching them falling into traps.” With that she finished the rest of her food and stood up.” Alright time to head back now.” She smiled and started heading for Medical. Now that Manny had a bit of experience with the area, he had passed through the motions of passing the checks so even if she hurried on first he should be good.

Luckily Medical and Mess Hall were very close to one another, so it wasn't long before she was back at her workplace and through the security checks and back to the underground floors. There was still a bit of work to do here, however unexpected news were waiting for her. So it was one of those days... they had to clean the boats.” Hmm, very well. We'll see what we can finish cleaning up here in the last few minutes or so we've got before then and be there soon.” Lisa replied, taking a look at the clock.” Well... not much time, better work faster!” She said to herself and started cleaning, so she could get as much work down in the last 15 or so minutes before they have to head for the Water Repair. They had finished the lab before dinner and the other rooms were at least faster to deal with.

Alexander Polawski
Location: Administration (A)
Skills: N/A

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Alexander caught up with Thalia in the end, ending up at her side with a short and heavy breath. Again it wasn't that he couldn't run in his older days, but the uncomfortable nature of his stride with that new leg of his. With time however, he would persevere. Once again standing with Thalia, Alexander followed her pace back to Administration and down to the basement, listening to the short replies she gave to his line of questions. "Hmm, yeah he did mention he was good with swords and shiels. True knight then, out of a fairy tale eh? Seemed like a decent fellow, and your brother liked him in the least. Tell me how the sparring goes then."

Of all the people the old veteran hadn't expected to find musing around their now fairly cleaned-up basement, was Aeron the General. Out of all people he could have seen Gunny returning to see that they returned to work, perhaps the receptionist Rolodex or Sandra down to snoop around. But the General? Alexander joined for a moment in Thalia's tensing-up, though he let his shoulder slide down once he thought of two things; First, this was not the Army he was part of anymore. Two, Aeron was complimenting their work, unlike the NCOs who threw a fit over a single grain of sand in the corner of the barracks. Alexander stood at ease, leaning against the doorframe as the General spoke of their situation; he staff-issue, the comms-room and he purpose of the very room they were standing in.

At first Alexander was at a loss of why the two of them, himself and Thalia, were 'just what the doctor ordered' so the General put it. It must have clicked for Alexander about the same time it did for Thalia, as ol' Mugsy turned to look at her with a growing smile on his face. "We'll do our best, Sir…Aeron, I mean." Alexander managed to say before the General left, feeling a sense of purpose in his chest as he stood in the room alongside Thalia. While the back of his mind drew images of a younger Alexander crouching down and calling down an airstrike on the NVA's position, the forefront of his brain pulled Mugsy to what he was perhaps an expert on. He'd fixed up many a radio back in the day, and now his ironic dream of setting up a radio-station was coming to fruition. Sort of. He didn't mind, he smiled.

"Yeah, you're right. Looks like the top brass have big plans for us two now." Alexander returned to Thalia, waddling over to a corner still occupied by some insurgent cardboard box of junk and slowly picking it up. "God bless our university educations, or what Angel? Anyway, let's keep up and then og pay our respects. It's gonna be a long day ahead of us yet."

Nigel couldn't argue with The Man Carrying the World on his back's resentment for the smell around the garden, it was indeed a barbaric smell that penetrated Nigel's nose worse than a javelin. What he and Thana did however was good, honest work that benefitted everyone in the camp, and Nigel was determined to do his part of his stay. Nigel did hold back a chuckle at Thana's rebuke towards Atlas, finding the grit and witt in her character befitting. Eventually it was only him and Thana left at the Second Hanging Gardens of Babylon - The Hanging Gardens of Mexico Beach as Nigel would start to call them after that week - and they were back to work. "After I've given nothing but the highest of praises to this Seventh Wonder of the Apocalypse? You truly aim to please, Thana." Nigel said almost dramatically to the scarred warrior-lady, beginning the process of closing up the slats like she did when it hit him rather awkwardly. "Uhm…I think that short time with Joaquin pulled out the dramatic in me. Sorry. Was that Thalia's brother, Gonzales? I guess his sort are not too far away from my own kin of reenactors then?"

Eventually Nigel had pulled down the last of the tarps of the green house, wiping his brow off the accumelated sweat after this part of the work was done. He too heard the crackle of the speakers, at first wondering what message would be announced to the plebs, before realizing it was just another signal of lunch. Nigel walked over towards Thana in anticipation of their next movements, though the look of concern in her face…well it concerned him too. He was about to ask what the matter was when she reached him and made it clear. Could he swim?

Nigel swallowed deeply at the question, a single bead of sweat running down his brow and cheek as he tried to formulate an appropriate respone to Thana. Apparently it was of no concern, though the fact that she asked him that very specific question did stick to him. The neo-Roman let the queston float for a few seconds, before gathering his guts. "Well I can swim…just not terribly well, and not…out too far there." Nigel responded while pointing his finger off in the distance - at the ocean. Deep waters. Nigel "Hadrian" the sword-wielder was not afraid of many things in life, but water you couldn't stand abreast in? He had some bad memories. "It really depends on what is needed. Just don't go ask me to swim into the middle of the Atlantic Ocean…I'll be fine, I hope."

Emanuel "Manny" Newman

Location: Mess Hall (c) --> Medical (B)
Skills: N/A

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Manny was enjoying the day so far. Had some fun conversations, the food was decent, and despite the uncomfortable conditions of the basement, he was feeling good. He loved his conversation with Lisa as well. It was nice to talk with someone in the medical field like himself, even if they were generations apart. Plus, she was a talker, much like Manny himself. Not that he minded people who weren't, but he enjoyed the conversation. Plus, if there is anything he has learned from being near youth, it was that a fresh perspective was very important. Sure, older ways of medicine were more reliable when resources were so limited that modern methods would be too risky, but there are reasons they are considered out dated. There are things that can be done before the outbreak , that if someone had proposed doing while he was still in school, they would have been laughed at, and then threatened to have their license suspended if they tried it. His best guess? Especially in times like these, get a good mix of both. Have a solid understanding of the basics, so when all else fails you can resort to it, but keep your methods up to date as often as possible.

Manny was glad to hear that Lisa intended to stick with medical. Especially here where this field wasn't just a job. He had met so many people who had just joined the field to make a decent buck, not caring about how. Manny wasn't a fan of those people. He had hoped that once they got into the field they would see the good they were doing, and make that the focus. Sure, money was nice and helped, but he had trouble trusting a doctor who was just in it for the money. What he did find interesting was the Rube Goldberg trap. "Huh, I can see how that would be amusing. I hope you get the chance someday. Sad to say though that isn't an area of my expertise. But I am sure as the walkers get older, and easier to deal with, this place will relax more on rules for going outside. And you may get your chance." He wasn't sure of this. In fact, for all he knew the only time they would get to leave would be the rare chance like the funeral today, or if the walls were ever expanded. He hoped that wasn't the case, sure the logic made sense, but he didn't like the idea of spending the rest of his life behind walls.

It was time to go back, so Manny finished his food, put away what needed to be put away, and promptly started going back to work. It seemed today though the two of them would be pulled to clean some boats, and be some messengers. Seemed like fun. "Alright, so we touch up here, we drop the papers off at Administration, and then we clean boats. Sounds like fun." He had no idea if it would be fun or not. BUT! He would try to have fun with it. "You think cleaning the boats will be particularly hard?" He asked Lisa while they finished up things at Medical. After they were done there, he would make sure to take the trip to Administration to drop off the papers. THEN! Off to the boats!!

Hunter Monroe
Location: Condo 32 F --> Mechanics (K)
Skills:N/A

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Hunter gave his favorite being in the whole world a great big hug, Izibel put up with it for the moment knowing it would end soon, and happy for the attention. What she wasn't happy for was when Hunter got up and left, leaving her in the bedroom. The look of shock and awe on her face would have broken Hunter's heart. But, he had work to do. When he got outside he found himself confronted by a human. His first thought, "Oh shit I finally did it, someone's going to do me in". But seeing as He was still alive and she didn't seem hostile it was probably a sign of him over reacting. He was surprised about the plastic bag in his hand, and it finally clicked to him what was being said. "Oh... Sorry. Old... habits. Wont happen again." She seemed nice, and he realized that thinking he was about to bite a bullet probably wasn't the most appropriate response to being confronted by a person. But as Hunter would say, old habits.

Hunter stood there holding his used bag of dog shit. Thankfully empty, but it was still gross. When she said something about play time for Izibel and some other dogs, it seemed nice enough. "Thanks. I'll try for it." He was supposed to meet Gunny today, sure it was hours before, but he had no idea what it was for. Maybe it was a new job assignment? Or maybe it was another complaint against him. The latter seemed more likely. Hunter went back and picked up the droppings, dropped them in the bin, and then went off back towards work. Between getting distracted in the mess hall, making the side trip to get back to his sweet doggie, getting distracted and having to go back and fix his mess up, he heard the Siren right as the building came into sight. "Fuck Buckets." Yeah he figured this was a shit show waiting to happen now. "Great, how was your first day of work Hunter? Oh it was great other Hunter I cleaned up a disaster of a human shit hole, got food, attempted a shitty apology because ignoring Nikki the whole day seemed like a bad idea, cleaned up doggy shit, then I got to be late for work! And I still get to go see one of the top people today! One who offered to shoot me at that! Wow that sounds great first Hunter. I know right other Hunter?" He spoke with a quiet tone, but with an exaggerated voice. He also spoke to calm himself. It was easier to think out loud, and helped him to realize how things were probably not as bad as they seemed. He took a breath, and tried to get over it. "Just... Fucking get over yourself you fucking neet." He spoke in his usual, emotionally suppressed, defeated tone. Calm, quiet, and ready to just get it over with. He wouldn't say it out loud, but he more or less figured if they were going to shoot him, they would have done it by now. Claimed he failed entry, and just bring him to nowhere and put a bullet in the back of his head.

Hunter made his way into the building, no over confident demeanor had at times, nor showing his defeated mood. Finding Mizrahi Hunter got his attention. "Sorry I'm late... Won't happen again..." He said, shame in his voice. Hunter was man things, most of which were probably not great, but he wasn't a slacker. So being late hurt. "Safe to say that bathroom needs more work right?" All things considering, the bathroom job wasn't bad. Hunter dealt with few people, and the smell wasn't too bad. Sure, for a place that seemed so... clean stingy. It was horrid. But compared to sewer work, it wasn't bad. Though he figured this place would be better for a weeks worth of sewer work better then hunter was when he found himself trapped. The gas mask he had at the time was Supposed to stop smell. Supposed to being the key word. He wasn't sure if it was because the filters he had got were in his bag which got submerged, or if it was because they were older then the masks the army usually issued. He still had no idea how old the filters were, he wasn't sure the command of his unit knew either. He did remember thanking Uncle Sam for his preparedness for disaster situations as his faulty filters failed him one after another. He hoped whatever poor bastard that got stuck doing it here had better gear then he did back way back when.

Location: Camp Mexico Beach

Weather Forecast: Dawn at 5:57 A.M. - Dusk at 7:41 P.M. - High: 87F, Low: 72F - Winds SW at 4mph - Gusting to 10mph - No rain - Cloud Cover: 26% - Visibility: 9miles.

Notes: Lunch for PC's officially ends this round. Make sure that when you are posting to include things that should be and that you are making it clear about where your character is during what time to avoid confusion or if they are early/on-time/late for things. If I am not clear I will either roll to determine or if it is a regular mess up I will default to worst case scenario >.>

Riv - After this round, you have control of Riley as an NPC to move forward your story with her as you need to, or you can just keep her background and it will be assumed that Riley and Amelia are doing fine together and adjusting to life in Camp as a couple.

Again - watch time carefully - we are moving past lunch and I will signal when characters can start preparing via their bosses okay to get ready for the funeral for those characters that are going.
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
Date: July 23rd, 2012
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
The first three lunch shifts were done for the day now: the camp was dealing with being in the middle of the forth lunch and the start of fifth at the start of this post. People mulling about, getting to lunch or back to work after it. Some were actually done for the day having worked partly over night, lunch being their technical dinner and about to turn in for the day to get some sleep before they had to get back up again. Some were just now getting started with their day, lunch being their breakfast before they started on their shifts and relieved others. Camp Mexico Beach might have been less busy during the night but it was clear by the way the meals ran that this place was never fully asleep and never truly let its guard down, perhaps that was one of the reasons it had lasted so long. Perhaps they were just lucky.

The bell tolled through the speakers before going quiet over the intercom system that helped keep things running as on time as they did in the place. It was now 1330 hours. It signaled the end of forth lunch, the halfway mark of fifth lunch, and the beginning of the sixth and final lunch shift for the day.

Administration (A): Before he left the General nodded towards Thalia. "Yes, of course, I am glad to see your brother was right about you," he said before turning his attention towards Alexander. He knew that look. It didn't matter the age someone was, they wanted to feel useful, needed. It was part of being human. The older one got the harder it was to have that feeling much of the time. If anything, this entire fall out in the world had reminded Aeron that he was still indeed useful. He possessed skills that were no longer taught when the world went to hell, things needed in a time without an internet or steady power source. Alexander was from a similar time. A time that transitioned from the past to the present and now back again. "I have no doubt you will Alexander. Well good day to you both, I will speak with you later," he added before heading out.

The two had a lot more work to do now but it seemed they at least had some idea of what they were doing it for now. Whether or not that made things better was inconsequential at this point. What did matter was that during their cleaning one of the bottles of cleaner apparently was old and finally worn out. Sitting there on the table it has been slowly dripping since before lunch and during their time gone ended up creating a rather nice puddle on the ground. As the floor is tile down there it is silk, as the tile is darker and slightly textured seeing the puddle in the light of the room is difficult....

Just as the bell is tolling to let people know it is now 1330 hours and that forth lunch is over, Alexander steps into it and slips. What happens? Time for a dexterity check - May the odds be ever in your favor. Who the hell am I kidding, I can't wait to see what happens, this could be hilarious.

Hospital (B): Mary has left instructions. Be at the Water Repair Shop by 1400 hours. You have time. Lisa is used to cleaning this by herself. Granted one would think that having help would make things faster but in truth that first few days never does. It always slows things down as you have to slow yourself down to make sure the other person is learning what they need to learn so when they have to do it on their own they don't screw it up and you don't get blamed for not training them properly. So the clean up going on will get done but only just barely before the two have to head out.

Now why were they held up in cleaning? Was it just the fact that Lisa had to teach Manny what to clean, how to clean it, and so forth? Or was there more going on there? Let's find out shall we? You see the first time Manny was down there he was dealing some fear issues. Those haven't gone away, in fact anytime Manny steps back down there it can be assumed he needs to run a check. So, Minor Fear Check time for Manny - refer to the Minor Feat Table in the original OOC post for results after roll in chat (Remember to call the roll before you roll)

About half an hour the bell tolls and the end of forth lunch is signaled, meaning the time is now 1330 hours. Thirty minutes until Manny and Lisa are supposed to be over at the Water Repair Shop. Lisa will figure that now is a good time to set what they haven't got done aside, grab the results Mary had pointed to early, and head over to Admin. Results drop off is standard and she doesn't need to interact with anyone. Rolodex will be in the middle of her lunch and there is an In-Box on the reception counter she can leave the results in, so no worries there. (Depending on how the rolls went, Manny may or may not actually run out of the basement, lol. Either way he will probably be glad to be outside for a bit instead of in the basement.)

Lisa will know boat cleaning isn't difficult and Medic does a good job at trying to keep it as clean as possible but she will also know that Sea Team can be out for weeks at a time and no matter how much Medic tries, it is a lot for one person and being at sea just leaves salt on everything and tends to rust a lot of stuff. It isn't hard work but it is tedious and you can't over look any corner.

Mess Hall (C): Riley gave half a wave towards Nikki as she approached the table. Seeing Amelia she smiled and had a seat next to her. "Hey," she said wrapping an arm around her girl and giving her a quick kiss on the cheek. "Missed you," she said as she let go. "Oh, picked the salad, looked good. They were out of the Sushi," she added as she looked down at her plate.

Looking back over to Amelia she addressed her other question. "Not bad actually. Been working in the Church cleaning up. A lot of dust but other than that it's nice." Taking a bite she continued. "Well, nice as it can be. A little tense," she finally added as she pointed over towards Tatiana. The two hadn't exactly gotten along since they arrived in the Camp, especially after the fall out when Tatiana punched Ash in the middle of Quarantine. "Tati is keeping her distance from me, refuses to talk," she let Amelia know. Shrugging she glanced around but didn't see Atticus, he had had his meal during first lunch so he wasn't around. "Padre is cool enough though, for a priest. Said if I finished early today I could help with some of the instruments, so that's something."

After a long pause she nearly face palmed. "I'm sorry! How is your day going? What have you been up to? Everything going okay? Everyone being nice?" she asked. She had been worried about them being apart. She had meant to ask earlier but she had just been so happy to see Amelia in the Mess Hall when she showed up the first part slipped her mind. It was a little bit later that Riley glanced towards the watch that Nikki had left for Amelia. "Oh you better get back, I'll see ya at the assembly for the trip to the graveyard," she let her know. Riley hadn't been close to Ryan, didn't know Gavin or Lola but James had been around for a while before that. She wanted to pay her respects.

Mechanics (K): Mizrahi looked over to Ash. The man had made it back in time before the bell rang, but just barely. (Was not made clear in post, rolled to determine in chat.) He nodded towards him. "Yes, bathroom," he said simply before going to clean his tools. Stopping, he set them down and glanced around. A confused look on his face before he stood up from the stool he was sitting on and walking around. First checking the bathroom and then the rest of the area. He couldn't find Hunter. Sighing he stepped over to Ash.

"Change plans, men's bathroom," he said to Ash before opening the door next to the women's bathroom. It was far cleaner than the women's was, didn't matter that is hadn't been touched today for cleaning. In a rare twist of events the mens restroom was the better of the two to deal with - at least here in the mechanics shop. Like with the women's bathroom, there were cleaning supplies in there. Thankfully it looked like this bathroom could be finished quick enough, Ash alone without problems could easily finish this one in time to get ready for the funeral visit later in the day.

Sitting back down, Mizrahi went back to cleaning his tools. Volts and Tesla were in fabrication, one could see them through the window between the two areas of the large building. Rivets wasn't anywhere to be seen. This was probably a good thing because it was after third lunch was over when Hunter showed back up. Rivets had already shown she wasn't a quiet person, yelled a lot, and obviously didn't problems with being down right disgusting. Mizrahi was at least quieter and cleaner from all outward appearances. Mizrahi set his tools down when the kid spoke and rested his hands in his lap. His facial expression was neutral. "Late means write up," he said simply before standing up. "Finish without help," he added as he pointed to the women's bathroom.

Turning he walked into the fabrication section. He seemed to be exchanging words with Volts for a bit. Volts looking through the window between the two areas before nodding. By the time the two were done talking and both were coming back into the mechanics sections the bell was ringing again and signalling the time was now 1330 hours. Mizrahi went back to cleaning his tools as Volts walked over towards Hunter, there was a slip of paper in his hand. Stopping he looked at it before glancing towards Mizrahi. "Tifl majanana libaqiat alyawma? Bikhilaf alhamam?" he asked Mizrahi.

"Yataeayan ealayh ruyat Gunny fi alssaeat 1400 lylana skhyfana wahu yuthmil fi halat sakar wafi allaylat almadiat, yahdir altaeam, wama samiet wahu yusarikh wahu yusrikh bikathrat min al'alfaz hawl al'atfal allaylat almadia," Mizrahi said without looking up from his tools. Seemed the man could and did talk but only in his native tongue.

Volts gawked for a moment. "Seriously?" There was only a nod from Mizrahi. Turning his head, Volts continued on his way towards Hunter and approached him. Letting out a low whistle towards the kid. "You done gone and fucked up," he said rather bluntly. "Again from what I hears," he added. "Come on kid, yer with me now," he said. "Well after you meet with Gunny, come on," he added motioning towards the door. Hunter had to see Gunny, as he was told earlier. Not the man who said he would put a bullet in him, that was Maddog. Gunny hadn't actually said two words to the kid since he arrived. Closest he had gotten to speaking to the kid was speaking around him when he told Morales and Cook to write him up last night during his drunkness. Maybe it was the eyes that made the kid mix them up in his head.

Stepping out of the Mechanics shop, Volts pulled out his sunglasses and put them on. "Come on Monroe, gonna take you to Gunny."

After the two had left the shop, Mizrahi finally set his tools down and went over to Ash. Clearing his throat a little to make sure the man knew he was there and didn't surprise him. "Dawri say yer good man," he said to him. The yer in there hinting that Mizrahi was learning English from people with heavier accents favoring the south than what would be known as formal English. "Sparrow," he clarified after a moment.

Supply (R): Over in Supply the place was empty up front when Nikki came in. There were some people in the back doing some basic cleaning and inventory but Auntie wasn't there for now. The place was pretty quiet up front as voices didn't travel well from the back of the place to the front thanks to the wall that separated the two and the doors were closed.

After a while the bell rang and there still wasn't any other people out in the front of the place. Two or three were in the very back, older ones, who were dusting things and cleaning up some of the supplies but mostly just moving slowly and taking their time. They were seniors and it could be assumed if they moved any faster they could break a hip. They wouldn't bother or say anything to the girls unless addressed. (Chances were they couldn't hear anyone anyways.)

Hydroponic Garden (T): The more the slats are brought down and sealed the higher the temperature will get within the greenhouse. Especially once they are all down. It will get hotter and more humid quickly, easily breaking 105F, this is remedied by vents above that once all the slats are in place shift open to let the hot air out and keep the temperature at a constant level as to not kill the plants but let them flourish.

Other than the plants and the slats, the watering system is on a timer and mists above ever five to ten minutes for short spurts at a time. The water that is being piped in is fresh clean water but considering this is by the gulf, chances are this water isn't from the beach itself - which begs the question - where does the fresh water in camp come from as a water treatment plant shouldn't be operating in these parts during this time.

There are large double doored cabinets as well in the greenhouse, every so far down the building - usually marked on the outside what within. Things like fertilizer, seedling cups, etc. There are more outside in the larger storage shed but inside seems to have a secondary more ready supply for easy getting. Much of these Thana restocked before lunch with the help of Nigel bringing things in for her from the outside building. The only one she didn't touch was the largest one by the main door of the greenhouse marked - Garden II.

There was a chuckle from Thana. "Oh god no... Joaquin is like the strange uncle people keep tucked away until Thanksgiving. From what I know of that family most are like Thalia. Quiet, reserved, keep to themselves," Thana said as she looked over towards Nigel. "Though will say this, Joaquin is as deadly as Thalia is and that's sayin' something. Think that's what runs in the family. Ain't heard of or met one of the family that wasn't good with weapons." Thana hadn't known many in the family. Only ever truly knowing Thalia and Joaquin. Thalia she had traveled with, taken down Eden with, been there when she lost her arm. Joaquin had been here in Mexico Beach when she arrived. He knew who she was long before she knew who he was. He had been Gavins partner back in Texas. So when she cam too and started to train, he was there for her like he figured his partner had wished him to be. He had been with her when they buried Gavin and the others. "though, if ya like talkin' like that and sword fightin' then Joaquins yer man. He's hell with a blade."

Thana couldn't help but let out a short sound from nose that it wasn't clear if it was a laugh or something else. The thought of tossing someone out in the middle of the Atlantic might have been a great punishment for the U.S. Navy back a few hundred years ago and she was sure she could find merit in the idea even now, that wasn't exactly what she was thinking about when she asked Nigel if he could swim. Shaking her head a bit she smiled though and let out a long breath before she finally spoke. "Naw, ain't sending you scubaing. If you can doggie paddle you should be fine," she said as she picked up a rag and got the last little bit of grit off her hands.

Tucking the end of it in her pocket she started to walk, motioning for Nigel to follow her. "You see, we have another garden in the Camp and it's our main one," she started to explain as she moved over to a storage locker near the main door of the greenhouse. "This is our more reserved one. Seasonal stuff. Things that aren't very adaptable to other methods of growing. Not very resilient." Pulling out her keys she started to go through them looking for the one to the locker. The sound of metal clinking against metal sounding each time she flipped from one key to the next. "Our other garden is much more impressive."

Stopping as she found the key she was looking over she glanced over to Nigel and chuckled a bit. "And considerin' how you spoke about this place, I want ya to know how serious I am about that statement." Nigel had referred to the gardens as a marvel basically, a wonder of the world. And in truth there was something to that considering everything the world was going through. Though Thana was saying this wasn't the impressive one, the other one was. "Cause seriously, you ain't seen nothing yet," she said as she turned the key and unlocked the door. Pulling it open was a few wet suits hanging up in the locker. Eying Nigel for a moment before picking one up she handing it over to him. "Down to skivvies to put that on," she said before grabbing one for herself.

Slipping her shirt off might have seem like Thana had no care for privacy but it was clear she didn't need it. The woman had a two piece bathing suit underneath her clothing. "Come on, get dressed. We're goin' to visit Atlantis," she said with a bit of a smirk on her lips as she unlaced her boots and slipped her pants down. Setting every thing on a bench by the closet. Seemed the scars she carried were not limited to her face. There were several moderate sized ones that traveled along her ribs. Nearly eye shaped that were longer than they were wide. Almost like puncture marks but much larger. Not as bad as the ones on her face but still. Down one of her thighs though was the worst though. It was as if she had been ripped apart from the inside and stitched back together. The main scar ran nearly from hip to knee, widening out and then narrowing again. One could see where each thick stitch and stable had punctured the skin. Around them were holes that looked to be only recently healing.

Thana stepped into the wet suit and pulled it up, covering her scars. "It's down under the pier," she kept explaining, not thinking anything of her scars right then. She had to walk around with her face showing constantly, the others weren't anything else to her. "We'll be tethered and such and we have under water platforms to walk along, but some places swimming helps," she added as she pulled it up over her shoulders and zipped into it fully. "If it gets to be too much just let me know and you can get out to rest. The currents and tides can make it more strenuous than you might expect but damn if it ain't a sight under there."

Turning back to the cabinet Thana started filling up two bags. Things like snorkles, goggles, gloves, etc. Things that they would need under to be able to see and grip and be safer with. "It's newer down there, as we're still tryin' to get some plants to adapt to the salt water growin' but some of it's takin' really well and well the kelp alone is worth the time and effort," she said as she set the bags down and started to close the doors, locking the supply area back up nice and tight. "Keeps all the shell fish comin' back." Once she was sure that everything was locked up tight she picked up the bags. "Ready when you are," she said holding out one of the bags to Nigel.

Before Nikki had high tailed it out of the Mess Hall she did give a nod to Amelia about the thanks she was being given for the watch. It wasn't a big deal to Nikki but she was glad it was acknowledged. At least now the woman would be easier to keep track of the time. Seemed people could forget times and such. Nikki knew she used to when she first arrived. It was hard to get back to dealing with being on actual time again. Being out in the wilderness you only worried about when the sun came up and when it went down. Otherwise you did what you needed to go and took the time you needed to do it. There weren't shifts, or clock ins, or meal times. You ate when you had food, you hunted when you didn't. Worked when you could to survive, otherwise tried to keep from doing too much because if you didn't have food there were no calories to fuel yourself. Here that wasn't a problem so staying on schedule was.

Back in the Supply building Nikki looked around. She had time before she was actually back on shift and while Nikki was bubbly and full of energy the girl was young and she didn't work unless she had to and was on the clock. Anyways Auntie usually had a meeting with Maddog after lunch to make sure that Alpha, Beta, and Sea Teams had anything they needed if any of them were in town at the time. All three were now, which meant it would be a long meeting and she wouldn't get stared down by the woman for being idle when she was off the clock.

"What to do, what to do.." Nikki muttered to herself between chews of her gum and blowing bubbles. Then an idea came to her mind and a grin began to curl along the edge of her lips. Giggling slightly she popped a large bubble and sucked it back into her mouth before skipping down the isles of the main part of the supply building. Amelia had to find clothing for the funeral thing later today. Auntie had told her she could go shopping. Well Amelia was having lunch with her girlfriend, so Nikki figured she could see about finding a few things.

Now Nikki didn't have a clue to what type of clothing Amelia liked to wear. The woman had mentioned something simple but what did that really mean? Simple could mean light or just black. It was wide open for interpretation as far as Nikki was concerned. This was probably why on the counter as the minutes ticked by more and more clothing was laid out. Sure there was a simple dark gray summer dress, and a little black dress next to it, that was about the only things even close to being described as simple. After that it went to three piece suits, large black sunglasses that looked like Jaqui-O would have worn, there was even a full length black formal evening gown there with sequin's.

This is what Nikki did until she couldn't fit anymore on the counter. Before the bell rang to signal the end of the forth lunch Nikki was however in the back room rummaging through a few of the newer boxes. They had to be gone through anyways and it allowed her to see if there was anything new for Amelia to use while being on the clock, sighing herself in as Auntie wanted. Nikki didn't even notice when the bell did ring to let her know the time was 1330 now.

At least not until the speakers went quiet again. Looking up from her box she glanced around the back room and then it dawned on her that if Amelia was back by now, which she hoped she was, she wouldn't have known it. Amelia wouldn't have known she was back here and Nikki wouldn't have heard her as she had her head buried in a box. Rushing back towards the front she called out. "Amelia! I'm in the back!" she said before coming through the door quickly and glancing around.

Ash Holloway
Location: Mechanics (K)
Skills: N/A

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

The erstwhile Army Captain had gritted his teeth and prepared to re-enter the foul-smelling purgatory that was the women's bathroom at Mechanics. Giving thought briefly to Shakespeare, both the long dead English writer and the histrionic Latino in the Mess Hall earlier, Ash quietly quoted Henry V to himself, "Once more unto the breach, dear friends." It was as much actual resignation to his coming duties as it was sarcasm. He took a deep breath, the last lungful of fresher air he figured he'd have for a while. He could do this. But Thana was right; perhaps the casserole wasn't the best idea ever. After Mizrahi confirmed the assignment, Ash began to make his way to the bathroom. It wasn't going to clean itself.

When the tall Arabic fellow bid him to stop, Ash indeed stopped. There was a note of confusion on his face, and just a little concern. Generally when someone told him "change plans", or any variation of it, something inconvenient was underway. In this case, however, it wasn't particularly inconvenient for him. The men's bathroom was in need of service, but it was not the horror show the other one was. Then who was it inconvenient for, if not him? Taking a quick look around, he noticed Volts and Tesla through the windows. Mizrahi was still doing his thing, same as before he changed Ash's task. Rivets was missing, and so was...

Hunter. Ash just realized that the younger man hadn't gotten back in time. And the moment that he realized this, the guy walked in, reporting to Mizrahi. The response was not positive. Be it a short conversation between the two of them, Ash was certain that this was none of his affair, and moreover, whether the kid screwed up or not, standing there to bear witness was unnecessary and could be taken as a sign of epicaricacy. Or, as the Germans put it, schadenfreude. So he stuck to task and entered the men's bathroom, located the the cleaning supplies, and got to work. At least he now knew for whom the change of plans would be inconvenient.

He was sanitizing upright surfaces; sinks, counters, etc., when he heard Mizrahi and Volts enter the Mechanic area again. Speaking Arabic, which was interesting. Not the language itself, nor what they were saying, as Ash couldn't understand a word of it anyway. The interesting part was that the taller Mizrahi was actually a talkative person, just in his native language. He had suspected something along those lines earlier. Good to know he was actually personable.

After Volts and Hunter left, to whatever fate was in store for the young man, Ash simply continued to clean the bathroom. The rest of this wasn't his business until someone asked him to take part or the situation changed in a morally questionable way. So he cleaned. The throat clear that announced Mizrahi's presence was unexpected, though he figured that there was something additional that he had to take care of now, or some change had occurred now that he was working in here by himself. But what he heard from the taller man gave him genuine surprise. Dawri? No, Sparrow. But he didn't really know Thana as Sparrow that well, so it took him a second or two for the pieces to fall into place. Also, it took a second for the application of the word "yer". Oh yeah, he was learning English from Thana. In any case, she had praised him to Mizrahi, who was telling him about it. Apparently, to her eyes, he was a good man. e greatly wished to live up to her expectations. "I try hard to be a good man," he responded. Sometimes it was tough. Decisions that resulted in the best chance for survival for those he looked after sometimes made for grey actions, but he did genuinely do what he could to uphold the oaths he took as a soldier and officer, and remember the ethics in which he was raised. "She says the same thing about you."

Not exactly the Algonquin Round Table of literary and conversational greatness, but it was a productive start.

Thalia Carmichael

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

The last pearl of wisdom addressed to Thalia from the General was hopeful, at least. Naturally, she might expect her brother (literally from another mother) to have her back and put in a good word, as she would to for him. But Joaquin's own history would speak volumes about his capabilities and temperament. Thalia, well... she was barely out of college for two years, maybe, before Zeds started eating everyone. Her career was just kicking off and she could only go by the reputation she developed in her younger years. They weren't exactly good, wholesome stories, most of the time. So yeah, it was good that he vouched for her. She nodded her understanding to The General, and even expressed a quiet, "Yah, good day," back to him as he left.

It was also good that she didn't voice half of the thoughts going on in her head about being where she was. The constant need to reassure herself that this was the right decision to make was starting to grate on her nerves. Besides, what else was she going to do? Thalia couldn't abandon Thana, even though they really didn't need each other directly for survival anymore. And she wasn't going to sneak out in the middle of the night and leave Alexander, even now that he was finding his legs in the community (so to speak). And Joaquin. So Thalia resolved herself to try to put any ideas to the contrary out of her mind as best she could. Even if she wanted to leave, it was suicide without preparation and a place to go, as well as the knowledge on how to get there. Any such thoughts would be fleeting. Not to mention that there were a couple of people here that she swore could tell what she was thinking, anyway.

Thalia was lucky that she didn't find herself mumbling those thoughts out loud. She had a proclivity that way. Shaking it off yet again, the one-armed woman set back to her job. Sorting. "Paper, plastic sandwich baggies, batteries, stuffed llama, single harpsichord key - white, ball gag, illustrated Kama Sutra pop-up book..." she said, rattling off things she was putting away or cleaning up and obviously, at least to her, just saying random crap to get her work buddy's attention or make him smile. It was are for her to joke like this, though for the moment it was just the two of them in the room. Still, it sounded like her mind was elsewhere. Thalia was holding an introspective monologue back and needed to say something to keep her inner thoughts inner.

Luckily, or unluckily as the case might be, that damned riddle came back to her as she worked. Something about repetitive action with little intellectual power necessary to accomplish it, plus a lack of need to constantly scan her surroundings led her mind to wander. And invariably, it wandered back to that riddle. Mull it over as much as she might, Thalia just couldn't make heads nor tails of it. At all. Period. If the answer were written across the wall in big, bold letters, she still wouldn't have a clue. "Ey Mugsy," she started, digging in her pocket for the paper bearing the riddle, "Take a look at this for me?"

Alexander Polawski

Alexander couldn't help but wear that wide grin on his face for the remainder of this part of their clean-up duty, the General's words sticking to him like a bee hellbent on the ice cream in your hand. He felt useful for the first time in years, and not just because someone's life depended on him. That he'd never truly felt proud of, that was more of a given when it was the life of a friend in your hands. This felt different, it felt better. The General was a good man then, just like he had been back nearly fourty years ago, a people-person.

attention was therefore fixed on the task at hand and Thalia's conversation with him, wits and friendly words between the two amputees interwoven with them cleaning up the basement. While Thalia listed off the various items of dubious origins, Alexander was in finishing up his corner of the room that had been particularly dirty. Hadn't he known better, he'd swore he'd found a hidden Viet-Cong tunnel entrance in the muddled corner. But for he pressed and scrutinized the would-be target of an Army tunnel rat, it was nothing more than dirty brick and stone. "I really, really don't want to know how some of things got here. I mean, I know people own weird shit and bring weirder stuff with them, but Jesus Holy Christ, Thalia…" Alexander responded to her vocal list, letting out a laugh both before and after his words had crossed the room. Whether or not she had actually found a ball-gag and…other naughty stuff, he wasn't interested in. It brightened the mood a whole lot though, which he appriciated. Just like he appriciated Thalia and her equally bad people's skills as his own. It was perhaps an odd friendship, but it worked.

Alexander payed more attention to Thalia's request however as she asked him to come and take a look at something for her. "What have you found? Not a tunnel I hope." Alexander answered as he turned around and made his way towards Thalia, crossing the room towards a certain pool of cleaning agent. From what he could see, she was holding a piece of paper in her hands. Before he could push her for more information however, his foot stepped in something slippery. Then his prostethic one. Back and forth faster and faster like a god damned helicopter rotor, all the while Alexander only said "Shit shit shit shit" louder and louder. At least the hockey-pocket ended, though not for the better. Both of Mugsy's legs flew up in the air and his back falling like an anchor dead in the water. Landing on the hard floor Alexander lost all of the air from his breath, his sense of comprehension of what the fuck just happened. And to add insult to injury?

His leg flew off.

The forceful impact was enough to plop the prostethic leg right off Alexander's leg and eject it in the direction of Thalia, landing with a methalic thud somewhere in-between the two of them. Ol' Mugsy lay on the floor blissfully unaware of the SECOND loss of his leg, trying for a solid half a minute to breath until his lungs started working again. It hurt, it hurt like hell all over his body. When Alexander could finally breath again, the first thing to leave his lips were a heavy "I'm too old for this shit…"

It was somewhat reassuring to hear Thana's perspective on the Shakespearean, dramatic member of the Gonsalez dynasty, hearing that he wasn't the only one who found the figure both peculiar and amusing. Somewhat, for if he were to take insult to Nigel's viperous words from earlier, who was to say that Joaquin wouldn't take vengance with the tip of his sword during their promised sparring? Seemed fighting with the weapons of their ancestors run in Thalia's family, like the knights of old. A worthy advisary then. What had Nigel gotten himself into now?

Nigel's focus was still on the issue of him and his abilities to swim, his shoulders slowly tensing up the longer he waited for Thana's clarification. She reassured him that he wouldn't be thrown to the sharks so to speak, leaving him with a sigh of relief and lowering his shoulders. "Okay…good. For a moment there I thought you were sending me to battle Poseidon himself. Lead the way then, looking forward to seeing what you all have managed to built in this bastion of civilization." Nigel couldn't help but reply back to Thana, whom he guessed could only be described as a benevolent superior, at least for the coming week he was working for her. From the sound of it, the next destination on this minature Oddesey was even greater than what he'd witnessed the first part of the day. Even for his less than ideal relation with the water, he was looking forward to it.

At recieving the wet suit and seeing Thana partially undress Nigel looked away shyly, growing a little red in his cheeks as he was, well, uncomfortable. He was not fast enough in his evasive maneuvere to escape the sight of her many scars. They reminded him of those he'd seen gashed into Tatiana during Quarantine, sending a shiver down his spine. Nigel was a few moments behind Thana when he finally got started. He pulled off his thin shirt and got out of his pants - quickly and clumsily, not wanting to remain under-dressed for too long - before he got into his own wet suit. All the while he tried taking in Thana's instructions on what they would be doing, no herculian effort but still a lot for Nigel who had never done anything like this.

"Understood, I think I get it. I'll do my best, just poke me or something if I do something wrong down there." Nigel told Thana, taking the offered bag from her and trying to imagine what the underwater garden would look like. Roman antiquity really hadn't prepared him for this now, had it? "Ready to cross the Rubicon, Thana. This landcrab will try not to drown. Did you do anyhing like this when you worked for the U.N.?"

Amelia put on a big smile with Riley by her. Blushed a bit when she was hugged and kissed on the cheek, but otherwise didn’t say much, just nodded and smiled there. It was already noisy enough in the mess hall so it was a bit easier for her to stay calm here. People were too busy with their own meals and chats to pay any attention to the rest.

β€œHmm?” She made a questioning sound as Riley recounted her first day experience in the church so far. Well it was a church, big building with big rooms, dust tended to gather easily. The later part of the explanation made her really confused and a bit concerned.” Really?” She asked, her eyes very quickly followed where her lover was pointing at. She couldn’t quite understand why this was happening, but decided to trust in Riley and she wrapped her own hand around her lover in return.” It’s going to be alright. Just do your job and don’t mind it too much. It will all work itself out eventually.” She said reassuringly. Maybe one day they will once more get into better terms with Tati, but for now, Amelia thought it was best to not push it. If the woman wasn’t wanting to talk, leave it at that.

β€œIs he really? Glad to hear it in this case.” She asked, pondering the man that was Padre. She chuckled when Riley started questioning her instead.” I’m happy that’s the case I suppose. I’m with Auntie as superior. She’s actually kind of nice. Nikki’s my… senior colleague… This sound funny when I say it aloud, but both of them are real nice. I mean Nikki gave me a pair of sunglasses today and now Auntie said she’d allow me to choose something for the visit to the graveyard.” She explained to the other woman, recounting her own events over the day, including the wait at the beach and the little cloud lecture.

Soon enough she realized that time was running short when Riley pointed it out. Amelia was startled, but smiled.” I really should. I don’t want to be late! Yes, see you later,… lo...v… love.” She grabbed the watch, she needed to return it after all, leaned over, took control of her will, gave Riley a kiss on the cheek and ran like the wind, cheeks flushed bright red.

Breathing a bit heavily, Amelia walked through the doors of the Supply and taking deep breaths she rested herself by leaning on the wall for a bit. She ran all the way here, because she thought she’d be late and she nearly was! Good thing that Riley reminded her. To her surprise she didn’t spot her colleague.” Nikki?” She asked, but she couldn’t see her. Suddenly after a bit of looking around confused, she heard the girl, who moments later showed herself through one of the doors. Presumably the door to the back that she mentioned just now.” Hey, I made it in time.” Amelia smiled and reached over to return the clock.” Here, thank you for lending it to me. I really would have been late otherwise.” Amelia made sure to thank her properly. Her eyes then lingered to the counter and all the clothes on it.” … that’s a lot of clothing.” She said quietly as she studied the clothes. Was the girl picking out clothing for her to choose from?

β€œDid you pick these for me to choose from, Nikki?” She asked with a bit of an emotional voice.” Thank you.” Amelia was actually very much touched.

β€œMmmmm, not sure we will see. Honestly shouldn’t have all walkers decayed by now normally? I mean it’s been years and bodies tend to decay a lot for such a long time and the walkers as far as I’m aware do not seem to have changed too much?” She shrugged. Walkers and the mystery of their origin and the way they functioned was a thing she had no idea of. It wasn’t her field of expertise, maybe there wasn’t anyone left alive who could call himself an expert in these things.” Well, if I cannot trap a walker, I can always trap something else. I’m sure something will present itself as a chance eventually.”

β€œMm… it’s not really hard. The boat is kept pretty clean, especially their medical section, but it’s impossible for Medic to overcome the power of the ocean alone, so salt’s everywhere eventually. It’s not hard to clean, but it will be tedious. More of a chore really.” She reassured the man with a kind smile as she tossed as she noted the signals and that it was 1330 now.” Alright… time ran out, anything else will have to be left for later.” She stated and picked up the results that needed to be delivered to Admin.” Luckily we don’t have much walking ahead of us, Water Repair is close enough.” She added to Manny as she quickly put away the cleaning tools here and then headed out of the Hospital, going through the motions and procedures and then starting to head over to the Admin building that was next over.

As times before she walked over and entered the Administration building, went to the in-box where she usually left the results, left them there and quickly headed back out, continuing her way over to the Water Repair Shop. She wasn’t hurrying too much, because it was close distance and she had to show the way to Manny. It was a great arrangement though, the 3 buildings being basically one by the other. Made getting to the tasks locations fast and easy. She walked up to Water Repair and smiled before entering. There was work to be done here also!

The conversation took a rather interesting turn, but one Manny would still pitch in on none the less. "Funny you should say something. I noticed the same thing a couple years ago and couldn't wrap my head around it. Now, the group I was with at the time was smaller, so thankfully people were not hurt as much so I decided to fill my time with reading, and problem solving." Something Manny didn't notice while in this conversation, when he had reentered the basement, he didn't feel... scared. Or uneasy at all. "I do have a theory, but I am not the right kind of doctor for this, and much of the concepts I am had to think about were not taught in med schools until years after I attended them. Plus. I also lack the expertise to confirm the theory, so it may be completely wrong all together." He made sure he kept up his share of cleaning while working in the basement as much as he could. He was still getting used to where some things went in here, but given a day or two down here he should have it down.

Manny continued with his idea. "What if, most strains of bacteria that cause decomposition, wont touch the dead while they are still reanimated? I mean think about it, they are extremely infectious, and their decay rate is suspiciously slow. But what if, that same strain of bacteria also prefers less decayed flesh? So..." He stopped himself. Realizing where he was about to go with this. And remembered why he stopped thinking about it. "But again... I am not that kind of doctor. I clean teeth. SO for all I know, everything I said is strait up crap." Sure, he did wonder about the Walkers, who didn't? But he also knew that testing the walkers like that was... risky. And to do it properly, unethical. "Could be some voodoo stuff for all I know. They didn't teach that in medical school while I was there either. Go figure right?" He figured ending the conversation on a simple joke was better then where he abruptly cut it off.

Manny was curious about what else Lisa would try to get in her trap. Small game for hunting? He wasn't sure, but he was curious what she could do. He always loved to see how creative youth could be with their ideas. Manny was also glad to hear boat work wouldn't be too harsh, not a fan of the word tedious though. For people Manny's age it meant the old man tax on his back. He wouldn't say anything though, he would try his best and see where it went. The time had come to head over to administration. "Shouldn't be too much left here. We should be able to finish this later today, or tomorrow if it comes to that." He finished up what he was working on, and followed Lisa out. The trip was short, simple, and pleasant enough. Lisa went in to drop off the papers, Manny followed this time so he knew where to drop off papers int he future. In the future though he may ask to stay outside so enjoy the air. But next time. Then he followed her to the boat repair. The canal, or river maybe, ran through the camp along the wall. It was an impressive sight, and he wondered what it must be like to be out on the open ocean. He figured it wasn't the life for him. His fear of confined spaces was harsh enough for now, he figured it probably wouldn't be better on a small boat, in the middle of the ocean. He went into the building and would start whatever job was asked of him.

Hunter was greeted by Mizrahi as he explained that Hunter would be getting written up, and had to keep working on the woman's room by himself. The write up made sense, so did the task, even if it seemed a little petty to the Soldier boy. But he wouldn't say anything. He would nod, and take his punishment. He was thankful that Mizahi was a quiet man, Hunter was a bit more reactive then he waned to be. And last thing he needed now was trying to defend his reasoning or deciding to fuck it all and walk off. Thankfully, that didn't happen. The cleaning still sucked, but Hunter put up with it and did his best to clean up the place. It felt odd. Being by himself again. Thinking back, this was the first time he had been alone since he got here. While in quarantine, he was grouped up with everyone else, and had a room mate. While he was out he had been in conversation distance with Nikki or Nigel to the best of his memory. And waiting in his room, Izibel. Now? This was weird. Sure, there were people in the next room over, and the room after that. A decent amount of people at that. But... They were not here.

Hunter kept cleaning doing his best with the job. With the thought of being alone though, he broke out laughing... More then once. Nothing too loud or audible, but present none the less. He wasn't sure what he found funny here, maybe it was finally being alone after being in such close proximity to so many people, maybe because he thought he would be under constant watch after how the last week or so had gone and now no one was watching him. Granted there were people outside the door, but still. Maybe he was nervous, and this was the only way he could cope with the stress without blatantly showing it. He just kept working though. Soon enough, that comfortable feeling of isolation was over.

Volts came over eventually, chatted with Mizrahi about something that seemed rather shocking. Maybe Serious? Hunter wasn't making a true attempt at understanding the language. What he did understand was a line that Hunter was all to familiar with. You fucked up. Sure, it wasn't word for word what Hunter heard a lot it seemed, but the message was he same. "Sounds about right." Hunter spoke with a tone of acceptance. No point in denying it, and he was pretty sure he fucked up anyways pretty bad. He knew something happened between him and Nikki, he wanted to fight Bass by using a lunch tray as a blunt weapon, and based on how people at the table reacted today, seemed everyone but him knew how badly his fuck up was. Damn word spread fast, or it was bigger then Hunter thought. Seemed Hunter's day was far from over though. He gave Volts a simple nod, and would tag along with where ever he went. The sunshine was nice though, and was a nice break from the shitty indoors of that bathroom. Which he would need to probably clean himself off before he went to bed tonight. He wondered if the meeting with Gunny had to do with what happened last night. And if it did... Shit. He turned to face Volts so he could speak in a hushed tone "So... What... What..." He stopped himself. He didn't really know Volts. He figured his best chance to figure out what happened last night, was to get this thing with Gunny over with. "Never mind, I think I got it." He wasn't so sure on that. But he figured Gunny was a better bet for this situation.

When that was done, he wold finish his work, and find time to talk to Nikki. The apology he gave before was rushed. But he figured something was better then letting her thing he didn't care at all about his actions. Then at least he was hoping it wouldn't seem like he was brushing her off the whole day, and he could do something proper later. Though, he didn't give her a chance to respond, or give himself a chance to explain. What if... what happened last night had nothing to do with her... OR worse... He said something he shouldn't have. Then a thought hit him... did he call her Lucy in his drunkenness? He decided that would be bad. Or anything related to that would be bad. Getting this fixed sooner rather then later was definitely the best option. With that, he needed to know exactly what he did.

Notes: Lunch is officially over now as far as the PC's are concerned but NPC and shelved ones still do have lunch, so for certain areas there will be bells to denote time. Time will jump some this round, please read all sections carefully to keep note of times and when things happen. Please also note that the order of the post does not denote the time of the post. Each section is on it's own time frame and move at their own rates. Admin might move faster than Mechanics, Supply might start later than Water Repair. So make sure when posting, you take that into account. Hasn't seemed to be a lot of issues with this but some minor ones I have seen skipped over could post problems later. (Sigil with Ash missing the entire conversation between Volts and Rivets 2 rounds ago is a good example.)

Administration (A): Down in the basement of the administration building a certain one legged senior citizen was laying on his back and claiming rather rightfully so that he was too old for this shit right as the bell rang to end forth lunch and signalling it was 1330 hours. Others in the building might have agreed or understood his sentiment and pain, that was if they heard it. Thing is they didn't. Being down stairs with a floor separating you from the rest of the world and people back to work or out makes it hard to notice such things. Good thing Alexander is paired up with another, even if she is one armed and that might be a damper in being able to help him up.

The real question though is where the pair goes from here. Alexander has taken a hell of a spill. Sure, Thalia took a bowling trophy to the face earlier but that was a small cut on the face. A man hitting the ground like that, at his age? Oh, hip could be broke, could end up needing to ice his ass for the next 48 hours for all we know. So what happens from here - you two might wanna discuss that and see how to play it out. (It will be up to you if/when your characters leave the basement this round - do make sure it is either before everyone starts filing in, or after they do as to keep problems from a rising with continuity. NOT DURING!)

Upstairs, as people are unaware of what is going down stairs they are working. At least the ones back in Administration. The reception desk is closed as Rolodex is out to lunch. This means the doors that lead further into admin are closed and locked. Keys are needed to get past the point but that isn't an issue for Lisa and Manny. They come in and drop off the paper work in the in-box for Rolodex shortly after 1330 hours but before anything going on in the basement is known - they will be long gone by then.

Now outside of Admin and down the street a bit after Manny and Lisa are gone and out of sight Volts is taking Hunter that way. Looking at the kid, he folded up the slip of paper he was carrying and tucked it into his pocket. "Kid, people usually put their best foot forward when they show up to a new place," he said chuckling a bit. His chuckle wasn't deep, it was a bit higher pitched and he hissed a little as he bit down on his tongue between his front teeth. "If what I'm hearing is your best..." he started before snapping his head back and letting out a loud "ha," followed by a rather long and drawn out, "daaaaaaaaaaammmmmmnnnnn."

This little bit of a vocal scene caught the attention of several filing out of the mess hall about that time and heading back towards their respective jobs, people from fifth lunch. Two in particular: Riley and Tatiana. Riley looks to be bee-lining it and not paying a lot of attention. Tatiana on the other hand quirks a brow towards the two, seeming to study them before following Riley. Tatiana tilts her head down slightly but her eyes are straight ahead and her pace is faster. A bit ahead of the two is Rolodex, someone only two of the newer members have actually been introduced to.

Inside of Administration, Rolodex unlocks the door, steps behind the reception desk and is just settling in and checking her in-box when Volts opens the door and walks inside. Looking up she smiles a bit. It was around 10 minutes until 1400 hours at this time. "Well hello there Mr. Dwayne, what can I do fer ya today?" she asked in a thick southern accent that seemed a little over pronounced. "And who's this?" she asked spotting Hunter as
he came into the building.

"Afternoon Ms. Sandra, this is Gunny's 1400 and well he comes with this," he said pulling out the slip of paper from his back pocket. Handing it over to Sandra. Her look getting a tad worried as she took the paper and unfolded it. Looking it over her eyes darted to Hunter and then to Volts. "Yes, seriously...." he said and seemed to answer an unspoken question.

"Well, a'right, have a seat Mr. Monroe," Rolodex said to Hunter and pointed to a row of chairs along the wall near the front door. Picking up a hand-held she turned the dial. "Mac, yer 2 is here, with a 10-886," she said as she pushed the talk button down and then let go.

"Seriously?" came thought in a crackle, it was Gunny's voice. After about a two second pause he continued. "Just a minute."

"Sure thang," she replied before setting the radio back down in it's nest. Volts watched the scene for a minute before turning on his heels and high tailing it out of there. The man had been asked to bring the kid over and drop him off, if he had been asked anything else it wasn't clear but it was obvious that Volts wasn't sticking around for the rest of the show if there was one.

Hospital (B): Lisa will know that whatever didn't get done before they left will have to be done before they clock out for the day. Germs and unfinished cleaning in the hospital are not allowed and have to be completed. (Why a Doctor would suggest putting off cleaning a lab where testing and blood and infection can easily spread is my ~facepalm~ moment this week. >.>)

Mess Hall (C): Tail end of the PC lunch was simply the others eating and spending a few minutes together. Riley was glad to have been able to see Amelia for a bit and hear about her day. It would be nice to be able to see each other midway through the day. Today they all did have the funeral to go to and be at the Assembly post before 1600 but that was today and right before dinner for them. At least without a funeral they would be able to see each other midday to catch up it looked like. At least for this week. Who knows if they would be having the same lunch in a week or even a month.

Once lunch was wrapped up - each bell tolling to finish up lunches one by one until they were all done and most all the food had been gone through, save some of the tuna salad, the Mess Hall was closed up for clean up and prep for dinner. The place had to stay pretty busy from well before the main people got up for the day and long after the main people turned in for the night to be able to feed 300 people for three meals a day. The added meal yesterday had to add even more. What some might have noticed between their lunchs was the fact that some were rolling trays of food out of the Mess Hall. This might have seemed odd as it was made very clear that food outside of the Mess Hall, save for a few select times like the party, it was a no no. That would be until they spotted the trays being taken into the hospital. People who couldn't get out of bed had to eat as well.

Water Repair Shop (G): Around 15 minutes before 1400 hours is when Lisa and Manny arrive at the Water Repair Shop. It is located on the same side of the main road as the Hospital is but it is at the far west end of the camp, right before the bridge that leads to the west gate on the other side of the canal. It is a large parking lot that is open, several trailers with boats up on them set about. Long buildings that look to be made of simple steel sheets. The more you walk towards the water the clearer it becomes that there are more buildings behind the main ones in the parking lot. These are built to cover part of the canal, next to a narrow boat ramp. The place is mostly empty save for two boats actually in the canal. One under one of the covers, one docked closer to the ramp and too large to be under one of the roofs.

Rivets and Maddog are there. Maddog on the actual ship, chewing on an unlit but half burnt cigar. Rivets is standing on the dock with a clip board and is writing things down as she walks up and down the smaller side dock. "Any major repairs?" Maddog yells down from the boat.

"Some rust but nothing heavy. Though the engine needs work, they've been running it far too hard," Rivets yelled up. "But after the build Franken put in, no wonder Goliath runs this thing hard."

"Yeah, land lover hasn't gotten his sea legs yet, he will," Maddog chuckles before catching glimpse of Lisa and Manny coming over. "A-hoy!"

Rivets rolled her eyes and looked over to Lisa, pulling out a sheet of paper from the back pages of the clip board. "Guy will be back from lunch soon, said to give this to ya when you got here. Said it was mostly just sanitizing and restocking."

"Yeah, apparently the worst they had was some minor cuts and one hook through a thumb, fully," he said mimicking stabbing his thumb. "That and it stinks on here from the chum left overs," he added before starting to walk down the gangplank.

Mechanics (K): Mizrahi crossed his arms over his chest as he leaned against the door frame lightly. It seemed that Ash was having a hard time figuring out what he had said, or at least he thought it was that. His English wasn't the best out there but he was learning. Thana and he had spent many weeks on the road, mostly driving and talking. He was having trouble communicating with her, she was having a hard time communicating with him. Granted his English was far better than her Arabic but she was learning and he liked the fact she put a lot of effort into it while they were out on the road. Looking at Ash though he wondered if she still would.

"I too try. It is, hard," Mizrahi said before letting out short breath. "Anger quick when shield, wall," he said, stumbling over his words as he tried to find the one he was looking for. His lips pulling to one side as he balled up his fists and strained a bit while flexing his arms in. Then the word finally came to him and he snapped his finger. "Protect." He still wasn't sure he had said that right but he didn't think that Ash spoke his language. Granted, he hadn't asked. "Arabic?" he asked. He figured it couldn't hurt to ask.

Hearing the door to Fabrication open he turned his head. It was Tesla carrying a few saw blades. "Got these sharpened, was gonna have Volts bring them over but can't find the pain in my butt," he said as he sat them down on the work bench.

"Admin, back soon," Mizrahi said. "New kid." Tesla seemed to speak Mizrahi's broken English well enough to get the gist. That or he didn't care. He had a location and when Volts would be back basically, the rest might just not have had mattered.

"Good," he said before glancing over at the bathroom and stepping over, finally seeing Ash. "Oh hey," he said looking around. "God, best day in this place is the day you get to shuffle this job off on someone else," he chuckled a bit. "I think everyone loses about ten pounds on this duty not wanting to eat."

"Dusty."

Tesla started laughing. "Nothing keeps that man from eating, he'd eat jerky cleaning a bathroom if they'd let him," Tesla added before shuddering. Shaking it off he looked back to Ash. "Well good luck and pray someone else comes in or fucks up so you aren't on this long," he said before heading back over to Fabrication as the time closed in on 1400 hours.

Supply (R): Aunties lunch ended the same time that Nikki and Amelia's did but as the bell rang she wasn't there but she had other places to work. It was clear by now Supply wasn't just a Goodwill like building where people could shop for things if they earned some extra spending cash. Supply was the main hub of everything in Camp Mexico Beach. Amelia and Nikki had spent the morning before lunch going around the camp and collecting request lists, and then filling out requisition forms so those requests could be fulfilled. Supply had to be everywhere and there were places that Nikki and Amelia hadn't gotten too before lunch.

So no sign of Auntie and clothing on the counter. Other than that, everything else seemed pretty much the same as it was when they left for lunch. That was until as the time got close to 1400 hours Mary came into supply. Glancing around and checking for completed carts. They normally wered0oen by now but it was also well known that when new people came in and events happened things slowed down and they had to play catch up for the next couple of days. Then again, Mary was called S.B., aka Scary Bitch, for a reason and it probably wasn't because she was soft and cuddly.

"Where the hell is the cart for supply replacement in Medical?" she snapped as she motioned at an empty place where something was obviously supposed to be, or at least she was acting that way.

Underwater Garden (U): The hydroponic gardens were one thing, the underwater garden was something else entirely. At first it didn't seem like much and could be a bit of a let down. From the beach one could see the pier itself and the way it jutted out over the coast. Nothing special at first glance, it was just a pier. That was until someone stopped looking at the main walkway of the pier and underneath it. As the pier beneath and the legs went into the water one, as they got close, could see the steel fencing blocking off people or things from getting fully under the pier, then the fence gate at the shores edge, then the walkway beneath the pier.

Once one got passed the locked gate and started walking under the pier, it still wasn't much at first. A slippery walkway under a pier with thick black tubes running the length of it at the waters surface and then slipping below. It was hard to see much beyond where one was because of the thickness of each wooden post that held the pier above in place. Between them though started to be shelves, nothing special, a few empty plant holders here and there, bags of sand and soil. Much of it looked like storage that might have been forgotten about.

Then there started to be more, like what was in the greenhouse garden. Rows of different plants, most looking like they were starting, in planters along rigged between the posts. It looked more like how one would hold a lab though than a garden to fed people as it looked to be smaller things not ready to be eaten and far fewer than one would need or was worth the space it was taking up or more than that the resources. It went on until the pier ended. Where the pier ended up above, so did it below but there was more. A pool like ladder that lead down.

Underwater was a different story. Just like the walk way beneath the pier there was another below the water, lamps provided more light than the sun could below the water, which was far more murky than one might have liked but it was the gulf, there was only so much clarity even on calm water days. Below the water however, it was lovely, at least in some people's minds. There were rows of small seedlings just sprouting in boxes, others even smaller growing in starter cups in black tubes, the deeper one went the larger and more grown the plants got.

It was mostly types of seaweed and lettuce beneath the water but there were other things growing as well. There were some vine fruits like what looked like strawberries but they were white and more hearty vegetables like potatoes and even things like carrots and onions. It was really a sight to see, that below the pier and the water, and the tide was this little world all its own. Many of it surrounded by mesh or grates, some open where there were traps and seemed to lure in shrimp and crabs and other shell fish. Anchoring points were here and there, specially between where a section of underwater walkway nearer the surface would end and the next would start.

Thana nodded slightly. She was a bit excited to show someone what was going on in the other garden. Most that had seen it thought it was interesting but that was it and she hadn't exactly been able to show many. Her father and Maddog had seen it, they had started it with the help of some others going off books Thana had had when she was in college and never gotten rid off, or ideas from letter she had written when she was over seas. They hadn't actually been able to achieve much of anything besides getting a skeleton of a place to grow plants under thew water. It was one thing to read about it, one thing to garden normally, it was another to try to get plants to adapt to salt water from fresh, especially for a bunch of retired military folk that had had half of their lifes meals from an MRE or a C-ration pack before that.

"Well it's a start but we're gettin' somewhere finally. Hopefully in a year or two we'll cut down on the amount of fresh water we need fer growin' by a heavy percent. Would make thangs a hella lot simpler for many in the camp," Thana explained as she finished getting ready and began to lock the place up. Atlas wasn't about and it seemed that someone wasn't going to fill in for him. Yet from what Thana said they were going to be spending the rest of the day at this other garden so made sense to just lock up instead of having someone stand there at a door that could be locked for hours and hours.

Pointing towards the beach Thana gathered her bag of things and started heading that way. There was a slight nod from her when Nigel mentioned poking him. "Oh I will, noise don't exactly travel well underwater and well you wouldn't wanna take out yer breather down there, unless yer a fish," she said as they walked, a bit of a smirky chuckle coming from her as they did.

Reaching the section below the pier, Thana pulled out her keys and unlocked it. "Careful, it gets slippery really fast," she said pointing towards the green growing on the walkway that was being washed over by ripples in the water just at the surface. Waiting for Nigel to enter before locking them in and everyone else back out again. Stepping carefully Thana started to walk beneath the pier, reaching out and holding on to a line of chain that was anchored in places just at shoulder level.

"Actually yeah, did my doctorate on Salt Water Farmin'. Modifying fruits and vegetables and grains to be able to be grow in salt water through salination adjustment over time until fresh water was no longer needed. Set up several gardens with the U.N. in places like the Middle East and South East Asia - deserts and islands. Places fresh water is scarce but food is desperately needed," Thana explained as she moved down the walk way. "Small scale but for a place that was wiped out by war or mother nature it could mean the difference between survival and not," she added as she reached near the end of the pier and set her bag down on one of the shelves.

"Alright, bag there, anchor in here, and then follow me. Take yer time, I'll be right there. Better swimmer than walker right now," she said pointing to her leg. Half made sense, underwater she was buoyant, less weight and strain on the thigh as it healed. As she said what he needed to do, she demonstrated it. Tying herself off, dipping her mask into the water before putting it on, etc. Climbing down the ladder she found the first walk way and stood on it, the water coming up to her chest. "Alright, mask on, ya got yer snorkle to breath though, have a look, we'll get ya setting with an air tank in a few," she said as she pulled two over to her from the walkway. She wanted to give him a second to see what was beneath the surface before having him swim it. He did say he was alright but not exactly the best, last thing she wanted was him distracted if something went wrong right at the start.

Coming out of the back room, Nikki looked around and spotted Amelia. Tossing the clipboard she had been writing on and taking inventory with onto the counter she skipped over and took her watch back. "Sure thing. Ain't nothing. There are clocks around and such but mostly ya just get used to time and bells and knowing but I was glad to get a watch after a bit. I tend to get in my head and ferget time," she said with a bit of a shrug between chews on the piece of gum that was already back in her mouth and bubbles she was popping with said gum. Her blonde hair was now pulled back into a pony tail and it seemed to bounce with a life of its own. Not that it really was as Nikki was constantly bouncing on the balls of her feet.

"If ya get some extra credit round here, would get one if I were ya, can come in handy around here. I mean not like ya need to keep track of tea time when yer out dealing with Ass Faces, unless yer trying to set up some type of weird trap fer them like Lisa does and ya gotta time something but in here it does help," she continued as she took the watch and laid it down face down on the counter. Resting her wrist on it she fastened it back in place before shaking her wrist a bit to get it to fall how she liked it.

"Huh?" she asked slightly confused at first, then it clicked. "Oh yea, wasn't sure how much time you would have and well, findin' things in here can be a bit overwhelming first few weeks, especially if you're a in a hurry. Figured, why the hell not. Needed to fill in the time before I went back on the clock anyways," she said looking through a few of the items idly before shrugging and looking back over at Amelia. "And wasn't sure your size, so um, if ya see something ya like why don't ya try it on? We got some changing rooms over there," she said pointing off to the side. Just a bit of curtain hanging in front of what looked to be a quick constructed set of walls inside the larger area.

Turning her head when she heard the door, Nikki groaned a bit seeing Mary come into the place. "Oh hell, bad mood just walked in," she said under her breath towards Amelia before looking at Mary. Nikki didn't bother saying hello to the woman as the woman wasn't walking towards either of them but instead was walking over to an area that looked like it was a little too open for everything else that was crammed in there.

"Wait for it," Nikki added quietly, not long before Mary turned, motioning towards the empty area and slightly snapping at her. "There it is," she said in a whisper before rolling her eyes slightly and scowling towards Mary.

"Same damn place it always is the night after new peeps come in or we have a party. In the damn back," Nikki said flatly with a bit of a snark in her own voice. "Don't like it, talk to Auntie. It ain't in my job description to put up with ya like Doc or Lisa," she said before sticking her tongue out at the older woman. "It'll be ready by dinner, like always. Don't get snippy with me because you walked over here wanting something you knew wouldn't be there," she added before looking back at Amelia and motioning towards the changing room.

Ash Holloway
Location: Mechanics (K)

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Ash mulled over the words that Mizrahi was stumbling through. He was a bilingual man himself, though it came with its own massive stumbling blocks that hadn't quite gone away. From what he could get out of the man's uncertain verbiage, Ash figured that he had some of the same difficulties that he had, not just in foreign language but in questions of morality on a case by case basis. He ran the sentence that the larger Middle Easterner was trying to say through his head, "Anger quick when protect," searching for the meaning through context of their very short conversation so far. The conversation being that they both tried to be good men, tried, but his anger was quick when ... protecting someone? Ash thought back to the time when, on the road, he swung out of his truck to come to Tatiana's aid. The fact that he was shot nonetheless and couldn't do much in the firefight notwithstanding, he was geared to end people's lives for someone he cared about. Or years ago, when he threatened to sever a man's spinal column with a machete and let him drown in collecting storm waters, with absolute intent to follow through - the man had been part of a group that attacked his people. Or the razor-thin margin by which he did not kill a man he considered his best friend, because he had murdered another who was (by technicality) under his protection as part of his community; it could have gone either way. And those were just a few examples. There was undeniably a darkness in Ash, one that recognized that it was far easier and effective to ensure the safety of others by the direct elimination of the issue in front of them, before it could become a threat. But what kind of a man would that make him, if that was the go-to course of action? And how many lives had he actually taken, with bullet, blade, or motor vehicle, to ensure the survival of his people?

All of those thoughts put a grim set to Ash's face. He nodded slowly, through a momentary faraway look, one a soldier might have who had seen the worst of humanity for too long, and responded "I think I know exactly what you mean." His words were measured and clear, impactful, demonstrating the appearance of true understanding of the nuance of Mizrahi's broken English. "We all had to do things to keep ourselves and our people alive. Sometimes that choice is hard."

The next question, be it the simple utterance of one word, did rather take Ash by surprise. Arabic? Did he speak... ? It finally clicked fully what he meant. "Ah," he responded. "No. English," he continued, then raised his hand a little, holding out his thumb and forefinger some distance apart. "Spanish," he said in explanation of the gesture. He did speak a little Russian, but felt it was not significant enough to give mention.

Attention was diverted as the door to Mechanics opened and Mizrahi engaged in abbreviated but more expeditious conversation with a third party, who he came to find out was Tesla, after he stepped into view. Ash could only assume that they were talking about Hunter, though that was a pretty easy guess given the hints dropped. Ash returned the man's greeting with a quick nod and his own, "Hey," though he pitched it with a little more formality, if such a thing were possible. The exchange continued, and Ash kept out of it, only putting in his two cents when directly addressed, "Will do that, thanks." He was being polite. Ash wasn't quite at the level of being comfortable with friendly banter just yet. He'd get there. Just not today. Today, Ash had a bathroom to finish cleaning, which he got back to presently. Do a good job, maybe next time he gets a better one.

Thalia Carmichael
Location: Administration (A) (Basement -> Lobby)
Skills: N/A

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Were Thalia a more cynical person, she might have believed that this was part of a great, universal conspiracy to keep her from figuring out these series of riddles. The first time that she asks someone for help (which was actually a feat for her, all things considered), said person gets in a horrible workplace accident that makes him lose consciousness. No to say that Thalia wasn't cynical. It just wasn't her defining characteristic. Yes, before she could even make some sarcastic quip, such as a well timed, "Ha, ha. Very funny, asshole, to Alexander's tunnel question, he was dancing the world's worst Lambada without so much as a steel drum to help him keep beat before the smashing grand finale. Thalia could have facepalmed. These days, that was dangerous for her on account of the metal hand, and she had no desire to put a second unconscious body on the floor.

But all of these thoughts came and went in the space of a second, and mostly stuck around as background noise after during the events of the moment. In the fore or her thoughts, Thalia remembered that she did have some training in First Aid. Not that this was a thing that she was going to directly utilize at the moment, but she knew enough not to mess around with something like this herself. Alexander was an older fellow, there were no Zeds around or hostile Breathers that would necessitate an immediate move, and they were in a place with medical facilities which included trained personnel. Logic and tactic dictated that she play this by the book, much as that phrase was not her favorite.

Two paces saw Thalia snatching up the prosthetic leg. Two more and she was down to her knees, sliding the rest of the way on the floor to Alexander's side. She set the leg down next to him and gave him a look over. No pools of blood or obvious signs of limb removal past the metal one, so she stuck around to make sure less obvious signs weren't present. She didn't know how long it took until the older man regained consciousness and mumbled the possibly very true words that he was getting too old for this shit, but that meant he was in good enough shape to be aware of his situation and status, more or less. That piece of relief handled, Thalia wondered for a fraction of a second if something similar might happen to her fake limb when she had to use it in a fight. That was unsettling. But back to it, Alex was breathing. "Gahd damnit Mugs, don't move if you don't gotta. Your leg's right heah, I'm going to go get someone." Thalia didn't know if he was aware that his prosthetic tried to escape, so that might have come across as a little weird. Well, damage done.

Thalia rose to her feet and made for the exit. It wasn't the breakneck pace of someone running for their life, nor was it a leisurely stroll. Call it a moderate jog. Either way, the woman hit the stairs and took them two at a time, making her way back up to the lobby area. When she emerged into the front lobby, she suddenly felt amazingly out of place. The receptionist(?) was sitting at her appointed place, and Hunter, of all people, was there as well. If she didn't know better, this looked like every standard receiving area in any corporate HQ building she'd ever been in, which smacked of contrast to everything she'd experienced over the past few years. It was a little bewildering, to be frank. Thalia eyed Hunter for a moment, wondering why the hell he was here, but said nothing to him. Instead, she moved to Sandra, thunked her heavy metal fist into the desk and leaned in, speaking so that the clarity of her words was only discernible between the two of them. "Mugsy's had a fall in the basement. Lost consciousness, is awake now. Don't know if he's hurt. Might want to send for a Dahc." So far, straightening up a basement had become one hell of a bloodsport. Had Thalia known there was such adrenaline-fueled danger in cleaning and repurposing rooms like this, maybe she would have taken up maidservice instead of boxing in her youth.

β€œSet up traps? What?” Amelia was a bit confused for a moment when Nikki mentioned Lisa for some reason and talking about traps. Then after a moment she had a sudden realization.”Ohh...timing yes. Timing is important for traps. What did you mean by 'weird' though?” She nodded, somewhat understanding it now.” Well knowing the time and being on time is usually always a good thing. If nothing else, you won’t be yelled at for being late.” Amelia smiled and looked at the younger woman.

β€œStill, thank you a lot.” She repeated and smiled at Nikki.” I will make use of your good will.” Amelia added and started looking through the variety of clothing she had been presented. The girl had indeed went the mile and sorted it out for her. The clothing was indeed simple though varied on the things present. Still looking them over she smiled and nodded before pulling out the simple gray summer dress. It wasn’t anything fancy and it should be comfortable for this weather and if nothing else since it was a summer dress it didn’t hinder mobility as much and can easily be adapted if it did in extreme situations.” Thing this is about my size.” She mentioned lining it against herself just as a vague measure and followed with her eyes where Nikki pointed out the changing rooms.” Okey, be right…???” She was surprised by the sudden change of mood in Nikki as she took a glance at who had just entered. She wasn’t quite 100% certain, but if she recalled right this was the woman from Medical.

Amelia nearly jumped when the woman snapped at them. At first she thought something had fucked up and got concerned as she threw her concerned and somewhat afraid glances at Nikki, as if asking if she had done something and fucked up on her day at work. Her worry and concern was short lived as Nikki, the ever present heroine of bravery and attitude she was, ranted back and in the process all was explained to Amelia as well. She took a deep breath, holding the dress to her chest, relieved that nothing was wrong.” Ohh right, yes.” Snapped by to reality by the younger woman’s reminding her of the changing rooms with her gesture, Amelia hurriedly moved to them and got into one. She was NOT hiding from the scary angry sounding snapping woman.

With the safe and secure confines and cover of the changing room, she slowly undressed the clothing she had on, and taking a look at the dress, quickly put it on. It was mostly okey, she did a quick turn around, mostly pleased with it. Sure it was a simple gray color one, but she liked it like this. Honestly the only thing she missed was her hair in this case. She pulled herself out of the changing room to show it to Nikki.” I think it’s good. It fit me. Well it’s a bit wider on the waist, but, otherwise it’s good. I think this one it will be.”

β€œIf they taught walker lore and biology at med schools, I think we would have had a lot more doctors running around. Anyways no leaving for tomorrow I’m afraid. Don’t worry however, I will deal with the rest after the boat is done and over with.” She smiled to Manny with a calm expression.” It’s just how things are, no two ways about it, this stuff’s important after all. Need the lab areas to be as clean as possible, even if we finished the basics already, can’t wait till tomorrow. Work's work and got to be done today.” She was overall used to these things even before the apocalypse started. It was basically her whole job prior to it after all.

Indeed it was good Medical and Water repair was reasonably close. Good time was made as the Water Repair Shop was reached. Lisa was mostly used to it by now, being in the camp for a while, didn’t know how her new helper would adapt to it however. Shouldn’t matter even if he was sea sick, which as far as she was aware, he wasn’t! Not that she’d know if he was, she didn’t read any files on him. She pointed out the boat they would be working to Manny. She wasn’t quite sure exactly how good a time they made, but it wasn’t yet 1400.

β€œHEY, Good day to you two!” She waved back as she heard Maddog voice. She waved the greeting to Rivets as well as she got close to them. Lisa was quick to get into working mood as she got to the other woman and took the list from her, giving it a quick look over, making mental notes about the things on it. True enough, it was mostly cleaning and restocking. She rose an eyebrow when she heard the comments from Maddog.” That’s good, though with this time going well, I fear next time it will take what’s due.” She replied to him.” As for the smell… It’s nothing much than the usual.” She added and gestured to Manny.

β€œTo introduce you, this is Manny. He will be helping out with cleaning duties at Medical from now on. So you will probably meet up more often.” She introduced the man with a smile on her face.” Manny, these are Maddog and Rivets."

β€œAlright, gotta start working ASAP. Stuff for some reason seems to be stacking up today. Got directed here before I finished off at Medical completely, so unless I want to stay overtime, I can’t fool around and lose time willy nilly.” She chuckled and waited for Maddog to get off the ramp and then got onto the boat herself to properly asses the condition once she was inside. β€œOkey this shouldn’t be too bad.” She smiled and put on the gear… aka some gloves to protect from the chemicals and other such materials that they’d be using to sanitize the thing.” First time cleaning a boat?” She asked Manny as she got to work.

A couple of things became apparent to the one-legged Mugsy lying on the basement floor like a 1960's hippie trying out something called "Yoga" back in the day, though Alexander found no inner peace or balance in the spiritual world like them. No, first he thought that for all the cleaning Thalia and he had gotten done that morning, the ceiling was still a dirty surface. Cobwebs and several unidentified stains was visible in the light from the lightbulb, making Alexander think to search the cleaning cabinet for a ladder later on. Then the lightbulb began to irritate his eyes, being too bright for him to keep looking at without going blind. Wouldn't that be just peachy? Old, one-legged and blind?

Then the pain kicked in the man-box of ridiculous concerns about the basement harder than the sail against your head in a storm - been there, done that. Slowly Alexander continued his breathing that he'd just gotten back, tensing his body in response. It hurt like a bitch, not as much as a gunshot to the thigh or getting your own leg chopped off, but enough for Alexander to lay still and just breath. Thankfully Thalia was an Angel true to her name and rushed over to him, giving him a good look like a proper medic would and telling him she would get some help. At first Alexander just nodded through heavy, concentrated breaths as he heard her jog out and upstairs, though one phrase penetrated his pained shell.

"My…leg…what?"

Thalia had told him to remain still as much as possible, but the strange string of words rebuked Thalia's orders. Alexander tried to steady himself with his arms, rolling over to the side to peer at what Thalia had said about his leg. Sure enough, lying at his side was his trusted peg-leg. With a puzzled look of utter confusion on his face, Alexander then attempted to peer over his own belly at where the leg was supposed to be attached. None. Only one and a half leg remained below Alexander's belt. "What the…Must've fucked up harder than I thought…Jackson's going to kill me" was Alexander's only comment on the absurdity of the situation, half dazed and wrongly connecting his misstep with a certain sergeant from his youth.. The leg was supposed to be attached to his stump by suction, like a plunger…The only thing Alexander was left to do on his own was to slowly and carefully reach for his prostethic leg, sit up straight and put the leg back where it was supposed to stick. Still dizzy from the fall he wouldn't get it completely attached, but at least he'd get his stump in the right spot for it to be sucked on later. "Lord…forgive me for this bullshit, but was that really neccecary?"

Growing freshwater plants in salt water? Nigel's mind was surely in the process of blowing up if Thana continued at this rate. The Roman teacher blinked as the realization dawned on him of what Thana the Green-Fingered had just told him. Any plebian or great philosopher would have taken the mere thought of growing things in salt water with…well, a grain of salt, but nothing about Thana told Nigel that she was bullshitting him. Any really it made sense for then to cut down their water consumption any way they could, perhaps why he had been asked about aquaducts earlier.

Nigel, with his bag in hand and keen ears on point to learn from this wise woman, someone worthy of being an Oracle in the distant past, followed Thana towards the beach. He noticed her smirk and witty retort, giving himself a chuckle and a smile, even if his social skills still were crude like a worn-out sword. "As far as I know, I'm as less a fish as you are a real sparrow, so I'll keep it it." He attemped at a joke back at her, following her down to the pier and letting her unlocking their next field of work. The smell of the sea was much stronger out here, thankfully nothing alike the stench of filth and the wastes of the living from earlier. Thana wasn't wrong when she said it was slippery, as Nigel had one or two encounters where he almost lost his footing, though he remained tall as the Collossus for the moment as he stepped under the pier itself.

"Really now? This is almost too much for a new member of civilisation to take in all at once. First the garden, then your work and now this? You're a true Muse of Poseidon. Natura valde simplex est et sibi consona" Nigel complimented his superior, holding onto the same chain as he moved further down the sea washed walkway, sea water cooling his sweaty feet like only Nature could. "Almost puts my thesis on the evolution of Roman military ethos to shame. Still, glad I learned how to smith and wield a sword, so can't have been completely wasted, can it?"

Nigel wasn't going to question Thana telling him to do as her, and put down his own bag and anchored himself like she had. Like she said he took his time, both the unfamiliarity of the wet suit and his proximity to the sea slowing him somewhat. Her pointing out her weakened leg hammered through the need for him doing this job right helped. Following her lead and wetting the mask before donning that and the snorkle, he carefully got in the water himself. Head under the water, Nigel was once again amazed by what he saw. Words really couldn't describe the sight in front of him except "Atlantis". Plants grew out of boxes, tubes and cups, places they really shouldn't be considering this was underwater. Nigel looked for a few moments more before he resurfaced, grinning wide to Thana. "If my mom and dad had heard about anything like this, they wouldn't have believed it. I can perhaps get used to working here from time to time, if time allows it."

He had some solid respect for Lisa's work ethics. And he understood the logic. "Well I'll be there helping. And I hope you get a decent amount of credits for what you're doing. Your job, on top of this, and what probably means staying late to get it done." Sure, Manny understood the logic of staying until a job was done. But if a job was given that needed to take longer then the allotted hours was given, and had to be done that day. Surely that deserved extra? Though he thought, and decided he wanted to add one last note to the old conversation. "Though, if more doctors knew about the walkers from the start? I think we'd have more people in general. I think that is where much of the issue came up. No one really knew anything until it was too late." He did wonder if there was more that people did know, but due to a lack of available communication most people didn't?

The boat repair station seemed interested to say the least. Decent number of boats, and that is far as Manny's understanding for boats went. He never really rode in one before other then the occasional time many years ago. And he had no idea about how anything worked on a boat. "A'hoy to you too." Manny said towards the Maddog. He had no idea if that was the proper response, but it sounded cool in his head. So he stuck with it. Manny did give a polite wave and a "Hello." in response to his introduction from Lisa. "I've seen Maddoc a couple times, but it is great to have a formal introduction. And Rivits, it is nice to meet you too." He kept a good polite smile on his face.

When time came for cleaning the boat Manny got ready as best as he could. "Honestly? Yes. I've only been on a boat a couple times in my life. Late partner tried to take us to a dinner date on a ferry thinking it would be romantic. The poor fool thought he could hide the fact he got sea sick." He said with a bit of a laugh. "How about you? Assuming you've done this before?" Manny would do what he could to help, but he was still pretty new to this kind of work. Wouldn't stop him from trying though.

Hunter found the walk to the Administration building... Interesting. Volts comment about putting his best foot forward he found a bit odd. Sure, the logic was there. But he found it hypocritical considering how quickly the threats of shooting came up. He found it even more odd considering that he didn't threaten anyone by that point. Sure he fucked up later but he knew he did and he knew his social status here would be hurt forever for it. That was fair. "My best foot isn't relevant here. So you could say, I am finding my footing?" He smiled with a look of approval for what he thought was an amazing joke. Deciding that it wasn't as funny out loud though, he stopped and just moved on from it. Though a joke was probably a better thing to say then his real thoughts. There was more comments about his best, but Hunter's comment stood. Plus, he saw little reason to put his best forward here. He was still deciding if he trusted the people here, or liked them beyond basic toleration. When in the admin building Volts and the woman named Sandra had a conversation about him. When she looked his way, he smiled a polite smile, and waved.

Hunter was eventually told to sit, so he did with a shrug. The chairs were simple, and traffic was low. He noticed Sandra say something about a Mac, assuming he was Gunny so maybe his past logic was flawed about who to blame for the threatening. That and the times matched with what he was doing. The follow up code was weird, but he shrugged it off. He had figured he would just have to wait this out, have the meeting thing, and move on with his day. What he found weird even for this place, was seeing Thalia here. His memory of her the night before was vague, but he remembered something about... a power saw... Now he wondered if he had something to do with a power saw?! He made a mental note to not get wasted like that without a backup plan again. But looking at her arm, he concluded that he had nothing to do with the power saw.

Hunter took note of Thalia noticing him. And talking in private. He watched as the weird conversation took place. He wondered what they were talking about, was it something to do with Gunny as well? He watched as the conversation took place, and said nothing. He figured he might as well wait for his appointment to start.

Administration (A): Volt hadn't given Hunters joke a chuckle or laugh. More of one of those deeply grown looks that men got when they were looking at their sons when they did something wrong. A look that seemed to scream, "boy have you lost yer damn mind?" and it not really being a question but more of an exasperation. A look someone might get after they said "hey y'all watch this," but no one actually stopped the person because deep down they were sick individuals as well that wanted to see just how bad the train wreck got. Thing was, Volts couldn't stay and watch, he had work to do and had left. He did however make a mental note to ask about it later if it came up in conversation. Wasn't like they had the 5 O'Clock News on Channel 3 anymore.

"Gunny will be out shortly," Rolodex said towards Hunter after Volts had stepped out and the door had closed behind him. She was watching Hunter, about to stand up and introduce herself to the boy when the door to the back swung open. Turning and figuring it was Gunny she had a bit of a surprise when she saw Thalia instead and without that nice young man that was with her earlier. She tilted her head to the side a bit when Thalia leaned in and spoke quietly. "Well pickle my peas!" she exclaimed. "Yes, of course," she added as she reached for the radio, about to put a call in when the front door of admin swung open.

Stepping through the door was a darker skinned man who looked very tired holding several sheets of paper. "Sandy," he said with deep voice.

"Medic! Well ain't ya just the answer to our prayers," Rolodex exclaimed as she stood up and and took the papers quickly from the man as he held them out looking a bit confused. Her other hand grabbed his as she set the papers down. "You wait there," she added as she pointed towards Hunter. Medic nearly stumbled himself as Rolodex drug him towards the door. "Come on," she said to Thalia as she kept dragging Medic. The man looked resigned to whatever she was going on about it and didn't fight it but he looked annoyed enough to be sure as he was pulled along like a dog being drug to the tub. There was even the barest hint of a growl as the door closed behind him once he, Rolodex, and Thalia were through it.

"Mind telling me what the fuck Sandy?" he finally asked as they got to the stairs that lead down.

"Alexander fell, lost consciousness," she said and Medic looked really confused.

"Who the hell is Alexander? Nevermind, where is he?" he said. Sandy pointed down the stairs.

"Down there, they're cleaning up the old storage rooms," Sandy explained. Medic huffed slightly and nodded before heading down, now at a quick pace that he had gotten his wrist away from Sandy and knew what was going on. "After ya," she added towards Thalia, letting the girl go first down the stairs before following suit.

Back in the main lobby area of Administration a few minutes passed before the door opened and Gunny stepped out. He looked like he was about to say something towards the desk but noticed that Sandy wasn't sitting there. A brow went up slightly as he took a closer look at her desk area. "Hrm," was all that left his lips as he picked up the sheets of paper that she had hastily left there from Medic a few minutes ago, then he picked up the paper that Volts had brought in with Hunter. His eyes scanned them before looking over at the seating area and taking note of Hunter.

"Monroe," he said with a bit of a motion with his finger indicating that he wanted Hunter to follow him. It was through the door between waiting and the rest of the building. A narrow hallway that was covered with paneling like it hadn't aged since the 1970's, very reminiscent of most every administration office in the country over the last forty or fifty years before the outbreak had happened. Granted, paneling was very popular in general for a good number of years, especially in the south. One didn't redo the walls, they just put another layer of paneling over the previous and called it a day. So popular in fact many cars had paneling for years. Down the hallway Gunny stepped into his office. The office looked like others, filing cabinet, old desk that had seen better days but still had plenty of good years left most likely as long as someone didn't do something to give it undue wear and tear. "Have a seat," he said pointing towards the office chair. A simple enough chair with no rollers, metal frame, and rough olive green upholstery.

Once Hunter had entered the office, Gunny shut the door and walked to the other side of his desk. Setting down the papers he took the single one from the top with one hand and opened a folder with papers in it with the other. Glancing down at them he read outloud. "Probationer: Monroe, Hunter. Charges filed on July 22nd: Food Waste and Drunken Disorderly - witnessed by Cook, Goat, and myself. Note added by the General of 'overly vulgar speech in the presence of minors'. Hrm." Looking at the new paper that Volts brought in with him. "Probationer: Monroe, Hunter. Charges filed July 23rd: Failure to report for duty at designated time - witnessed by Frankenstein and probationer Holloway, Ashton." Stopping he let out a short breath and looked towards Hunter. "10-886 - Absence without leave." Article 10, Code 886 of the Military Code of Military Justice. AWOL. While AWOL was usually remembered for people deserting it was more commonly know by soldiers for being late to work or skipping out early. "Do you deny the charges?" Gunny asked as he leaned back in his chair and laced his fingers together in his lap.

Now, back to the basement - Medic made his way down the stairs and down the hallway. He peeked in his head into the wrong room to start but quickly made his way into the correct one, spotting Alexander down on the floor. His head tilted to the side slightly. He hadn't met this one before, granted he hadn't met Thalia before or Hunter either. Three new people. He had heard there were new people but he hadn't felt like eating lunch so had missed seeing them. He still had no idea just who had arrived. Kneeling down next to Alexander he looked over the man. "I'm Medic." It was a quick enough and accurate introduction. "Pain, nausea, or known breaks?" he asked as he started to do a cursory look over of Alexander.

Water Repair Shop (G): Stepping over to the two once he was fully off the boat Maddog pulled out a rag from his pocket and cleaned off his hands. "Right, the doctor," he said remembering the files. Rivets quirked a brow. "Dentist," he clarified. Rivets grimaced and took a step back which drew a laugh from Maddog.

"He should be in I.A. instead of supply," she said before giving a thin lipped nod and turned, making her way away from the rest of them much quicker than someone might think she was able. "I got work to do in the shop!"

"She ain't quick but she moves with purpose," Maddog laughed shaking his head before looking at Manny. "She hates dentists, be grateful," he added before looking over at Lisa. "I don't think this will take you two long. Probably less time that usual. Guy said the trip was pretty calm. Medic should be back once he gets restocks approved in Admin and collects them from Medical," he said as he shoved the piece of fabric into his back pocket. Giving a bit of a nod he started walking off.

Lisa knows the drill for this. She and Manny will only be tending to the small medical room that is set up on the boat for the trips. The boats infirmary is make shift, being put in long after the boat had been built. The boat itself obviously didn't originally have such a set up. It is a nice set up even if very cramped and different than one might imagine. It's orderly and looks to be decently clean but Lisa, and Manny, would know that just because an area looks clean doesn't mean it is sterile and if they are doing medical out at sea it is best not to risk it since there isn't exactly a hospital anywhere near by.

The cleaning is going to take a couple of hours at least. Lisa may make a roll against her Custodian Skill of course to cut down on the time it takes to get if fully done. If you do, roll in chat. Roll at or below skill number, this is a success and time to fully get cleaning done up to par is cut down by 25%.

Mechanics (K): Mizrahi nodded. He thought he understood what Ash was saying. He understood English far better than he spoke it. That and Ash was using normal words as far as he could tell. More what he could read in a book. Talking to Thana left him wondering if she was actually speaking English or something else entirely that she made up herself. He had heard of odd phrases before but after weeks on the road with the woman he had become truly confused. He had heard some things that left him scratching his head even after she explained them to him. He was trying though, trying to understand them, and use them... "Yeah, garden ain't made by sittin' in the shade," he said trying one out.

This made Tesla stop and stare. "What the fuck?" he asked under his breath, half coughing as he did.

"That not right?" Mizrahi asked.

"No!" Tesla laughed. "That's about hard work, not things being hard."

"Oh," he said before shrugging. "More turned up than a briar push durin' hog beatin'."

"Push? Hog Beatin'? Okay, stop, you have got to stop learning English from Sparrow," he laughed before giving Ash half a wave. "Good luck man," he added as he walked off and back into fabrication, the door closing heavy behind him.

Walking over to the bathroom, Mizrahi leaned against the door slightly. "Briar push wrong?" he asked, still not sure if Tesla was being on the up and up with him or if he was just teasing him.

Supply (R): Mary looked like she might blow a gasket but she didn't. Her eyes narrowing somewhat. "You see that it is or I'm gonna have a talk with Auntie about you," she seemed to threaten before turning on her heels and walking out of Supply, the door swinging shut behind her.

After that little exchange - Supply is just dead. Seems that no one is coming in or out. Those that had been in the back were the only noise that was made and after a little there was none at all. No they weren't dead back there. They came up and signed out. Older and their shifts were partly over night, the early hours in the morning prepping for the main shift. This had been the tail-end of their day and they were done now it seemed. Writing down their out time before heading out and giving the girls a bit of a wave as they went. "See ya tomorrow mornin'," one of the older women said as she left Supply.

"Unless you girls wanna join us for Gin Rummy tonight after dinner, playing down at the picnic tables by the chapel," another said before heading out with the others. Seemed there were options of what people did with their evenings or down time in general. Gin Rummy hadn't been on the board by Assembly but this was a good example of people doing their own thing even if they weren't doing things already up and listed out. Granted Gin Rummy wasn't a big deal, it was a deck of cards and older folks - it really was the picture of a retirement home activity.

Underwater Garden (U): The Gardens are just Thana and Nigel. Above them one can see through the spaces between the wood people walking about and see from above and then down into the water on one side that some are just fishing. Seems appropriate for the pier. The end of the pier however, where Thana and Nigel are, no one is fishing off. This is probably a good thing and there by design. The last thing Thana or Nigel would need right now is to get a hook into their cheek and someone try to reel them in. It would be the worst life action underwater scene of Bedknobs and Broomsticks ever, and a lot bloodier.

Now, under the water, thankfully things seem calm. The weather outside has been hot, as it is summer in the south, but there hadn't been any strong storms over the last few days. This is leading to smoother waters. Now, because they are by the shore, before the sandbar is does mean that things are easily kicked up and the water isn't perfectly clear - it never is in the gulf. Though right now is about as good as it gets. Lights will be needed to see around once you are deeper than a few feet and even by the surface the waters viability is only a dozen feet at best.

While it is only Nigel and Thana under the water, it doesn't mean they are alone. They might be the only humans breathing under the water with the help of their snorkels but it doesn't mean they are the only things alive under there. There are some fish swimming around, eating off the algae that is growing on the wooden posts that keep the pier in place, some shrimp and other shell fish crawling around. There is even a jelly fish or two floating about out there. At least for now it seems that is all that is under the water, what all is under there is anyone's guess - for now, the dice aren't showing anything getting to ya this round.

Thana glanced over at Nigel. She really hadn't ever thought of it that way. "Prefer Athena, wiser," she said with a slight shrug. Then a slight smile came to her lips. "Plus she won the city," she added with a bit of a wink thinking back to stories she had read in school. Thana might have been Navy but she couldn't deny the pull of Athena to a girl growing up and wanting to be strong. Thana had faced plenty of challenges in the military being a woman, Athena had been a bit of a role model, even if she was just a story from long ago. There had been far worse people she could have looked up to growing up, especially all things considered.

"Anyways, I just scienced the hell outta this. Fear my botany powers," she laughed a bit as she pulled her mask down over her eyes and made sure it was all secure. "Qui plantavit curabit," Thana added a bit more seriously. Now, Thana didn't speak Latin. She had never taken a lesson in her life but she did know a few proverbs that she had memorized over the years. Qui plantavit curabit was one of them. It was one that held a lot of meaning to her, one she had run across in one of her botany books back in college. It was the of the Roosevelt Family and basically meant that he who plants will preserve. Fitting for the Roosevelt's considering Teddys role in National Parks long time ago. Fitting to Thana she felt right then as she floated in the water and held onto the edge of the pier. She planted it, she had to care for it, it would help them all preserve.

Looking over to Nigel, Thana nodded a bit. She wasn't minding his help nor his presence. Granted she would have rather had Ash near her but she knew if Ash was there she wouldn't be getting the amount of work that needed to be done completed. She would be too focused on Ash being close to do the job that needed to be done. That was not something that had been a problem in her past. She was very good at keeping work and personal apart, even if she was dating the person she was working with. That was before the outbreak though, before she walked into Newnan, before she met Ash, before over a year of thinking she may never see him again and then resigning herself to that. Yea, things were different now and as long as she was around him she was going to be focused on him.

Having Nigel there made it better. He wasn't someone that was part of CMB when she came in. He hadn't seen her recover, he didn't know her before. He was new, seemed educated and spoke well, didn't seem to have personal issues. Frankly the man was a unicorn in a world of acid dipped Jokers. Maybe he would like to move from Supply to Mess once his probation was over? Time would tell. "Maddoc runs swimming/snorklin'/divin' lessons twice a week ifn' yer interested. Would get ya better suited fer being out here, I'm startin' them up soon as I get cleared by Doc," she let Nigel know.

"A'right, time to get started, ready?" she asked, not wanting to jump the gun on this. Sure they were anchored and close enough to shore but Thana had been in waters like this enough to know anything could go wrong at any minute. "And watch fer jelly fish, thems gonna get ya worse than most thangs out here."

Nikki rolled her eyes. She rolled them so hard in fact that it actually hurt and had the old wives tale about eyes getting stuck that way were true they would have when she listened to Mary. "Get laid!" Nikki yelled out after the woman before huffing and popping a bubble with her gum. Shaking her head she looked over to Nikki. "If that woman had an orgasm it would do more good for the rest of us than she knows," she added before leaning over the counter and resting her head down on it. She had work to do, she knew that but dealing with Mary could be a head ache. It wasn't like she really disliked Mary it was just Mary was in a mood and Mary seemed to be in a mood more and more often these days. Nikki felt bad for Lisa having to work with the woman some days. Then again Mary could be fun, when she wanted to be and didn't have a stick up her butt.

Looking over to Amelia she got back to their conversation. "Oh you know those weird things people would build that really didn't do anything but looked neat? Like you roll a ball down a track, it knocks over dominos, then makes a balloon pop, which makes a chicken lay an egg, that rolls down another track and cracks on a glass to fall into a pan to fry? Like that but for Walkers," Nikki said, trying to explain what Lisa liked to do and totally blanking on what the actual process was called. Maybe she should spend more time with her nose in a book, or maybe not. She figured she got the point across. If not she could keep explaining. Nikki did enjoy talking to someone new. At least someone that wasn't putting his foot in his mouth, or a handful of oatmeal. She cringed at the memory. That was not pretty.

Lifting her head up she looked at Amelia as she came out and smiled a bit. "That looks pretty good!" she exclaimed before glancing around. "But it needs something," she added as she came out from behind the counter. It was about this time the older women came out of the back and were signing out to leave. Nikki wasn't paying them much mind until the two of them spoke and one invited them over to cards later. Nikki nodded and waved a bit, waiting for the door to close before saying anything.

"They just wanna know about the two new resident lesbians," Nikki said rather bluntly as she looked over to Amelia. "Ain't nothing bad. We have a lot of people that swing more than one way. We just ain't had a full on female couple that looked to be long term in a while. Hell we only had one gay couple till you showed up. They're old and curious," Nikki said, rolling her eyes again as she walked. She seemed to be searching for something.

"There it is!" she exclaimed as she reached up on a shelf and pulled a hat box off it. Dusting off the top she brought it over to the counter and opened it. Inside was an older hat with a veil. "There ya go," she said holding it out.

It was kind of a lucky break for Ash that Hunter showed up late to his job after lunch. Because he was, Ash was moved over to a bathroom that looked far, far less like a cesspit with plumbing fixtures. No gagging, no desire to let fly his delicious tuna casserole across the countryside, no needing to hose off. And more than that, he could attempt to participate in conversation. Not exactly his top priority, getting to know these people and letting them get to know him was the first step into becoming a trusted part of Camp Mexico Beach. That was the goal, assimilate the Newnan people into this established community. Himself included.

The problem was, this conversation he was on the periphery of was sounding more and more like a scene from a sitcom with every passing second. Ash stopped his cleaning for a moment, just a short second or two to give a look in the direction of the Middle Eastern accent that was forcing out a phrase that had to have come from Thana. This sentiment was echoed by Tesla prior to his withdrawal back into the Fabrication section of the building. Responding to his half wave and sentiment of good luck, Ash articulated, "Yeah, thanks," and gave the other half of that wave. Then he got back to cleaning.

It was kind of a shame, Ash wouldn't have minded a conversation with the guy. The work with the prosthetic limbs that he saw on the two people from the Eden Group was enough to warrant a professional discussion of its own merit, and it wouldn't hurt to make contacts with the tool people - people like himself - in this place. Then again, Mizrahi was the resident mechanic, it looked like. It was another thing which kept his interest; working on machines. And he had opted to open a conversation with him, while he worked on the bathroom. So he obliged. It was the neighborly thing to do. And that last charming southern colloquialism that he used was cause for utter confusion. "From the sound of it, it could be briar bush or briar patch. I'm not really familiar with that phrase. My people are from Virginia." He gave a little shrug. "Not sure why you would want to beat a hog, but cutting a switch off of a briar bush seems like a way to do it." He spoke a little slower and more clearly than he did ordinarily. Not to the point of being condescending, but as a polite measure.

Maybe he heard it wrong, anyway. Or maybe he was just thrown off because the phrase coming out of Mizrahi's mouth. The American Southeast spoke its own dialect of English and it was often difficult to understand casual conversation from one region to another. Ash continued to clean, now taking a scrub brush to the places that needed it.

Thalia Carmichael

It appeared that the use of strange phrases wasn't limited to Mechanics and Fabrication. Thalia could say with grave certainly that it was the first time that she'd heard the expression "Pickle My Peas". She didn't care beyond the novelty of it, so long as she actually tried to do something about the emergency at hand. Had Thalia's hand on the desk have been made of blood and bone, she would have been drumming her nails upon it. The short back-and-forth between Rolodex and the medic, Medic (which was not the most elaborate of code names, but effective enough) was sufficient to poke the limits of Thalia's patience. Her expression testified to exactly that. At least they were moving.

When it looked like Medic was taking the situation seriously, after enough information was communicated by Rolodex, Thalia was a touch more satisfied to note that the man was moving in a more productive manner. Quickly following behind, she barely recognized when the highly unnecessary "After ya," hit her ears; like hell she was going to slow down for the purposes of some useless piece of etiquette when one of her friends was laying on the floor hurt. Thalia didn't have many friends. She tended to push people away before they got the chance to get comfortable. So when people got through her defenses, she was a loyal, if not always nice, friend to them.

But even that wasn't foremost on Thalia's mind right then. What was centered somewhere around putting one foot in front of the other to get down the stairs, her artificial hand leaving a sliding, metallic sound on the handrail in her wake. She was practically boring holes in the back of his head. Mild irritation kicked up when Medic stuck his head in the wrong room. How dare he not be psychic and know automatically which one was the correct room? Disgraceful. Finally, they got to the right room. Thalia gave note to the man props, he was acting in the manner of a medical professional. Quick introduction, immediately getting to the point with questioning. She kept her gaze on the man for a little bit longer, eyeing him as if he might suddenly change his mind about helping Alexander and needed to be pulled off of him. It was a silly notion, but one of many "what could go wrong" contingency musings of the hour. Not wanting to get in the way but wishing to be vocal about her underlying concern, Thalia squatted down on the other side of Alexander and said to Medic, "Lemme know if I can do anything," in a clear but subdued voice.

Amelia Payne

Amelia was honestly taken a bit by surprise by how the things with Mary happened. Despite Nikki’s faul and direct language, nothing happened. What’s more despite Mary’s even more threatening attitude she just walked away, finally allowing Amelia the chance to take a deep breath and nod at Nikki.” I assume this happens often?” She asked, her eyes wandering towards the door where Mary had left from.

β€œUhh…? Ahhh, those things.” She was at first a bit confused about what the younger girl was describing for a moment there, before the image clicked in her head. Now that was a surprising hobby to have. The name for it slipped her mind also, it was some specific naming term used, she’d recall it eventually when she wasn’t trying to think it up.” If it works, I think it’d be worth to see one.” Amelia said, imagining a balling ball going down some rails of a building triggered by a walker walking over something and the ball falling on it’s head.” I imagine they don’t just allow her to actually go outside freely and do those right? I imagine the hoops to jump through with a hobby like that are quite a few?”

Then there were also the other women in Supply who started to sign off for the end of their shifts. Amelia waved a good bye to them as well, feeling a bit surprised when they invited them to play cards later.” Maybe? I’m not sure for today.” She admitted quietly. She truly wasn’t sure if she would have the chance to go to the card gathering and then she wasn’t sure she’d be willing to go there on her own. Admittedly she found it easier to hang around people of ages with some distance to her own, but still. She’d say it to Riley also and see if the musician wants to go. Yeah.

As Nikki started to explain the women’s curiosity. Amelia blushed up a bit and coughed one with a nod.” I suppose it’s not surprising.” She said quietly. Well it wasn’t a bad thing anyways. Though she wondered if the girl had to put it so bluntly. Well so far it seemed that she was frank to painful degree and didn’t pick her words and in a way, Amelia appreciated that honestly a lot.” I suppose they curiosity doesn’t hurt. Hmm?” She made a questioning sound at the end as Nikki seemed to have found whatever she was searching for.

β€œ...” Amelia had a puzzled confused face for a moment as she picked the older styled hat with a veil form the younger woman’s hands. She looked at Nikki for a moment, then at the hat and only then tried it on. She had to admit by type it did go well with the gray summer dress, Amelia liked that. Looking through the veil around it was a bit weird at first.” It’s a nice hat and I do like it… and it does go with the dress, but isn’t it a bit… much given the situation?” She asked Nikki with quiet voice.” Most others would be dressed with more regular clothing… this will stand out so much...”

β€œWell honestly I’ve been cleaning here a a number of times already, but full out boat ride into deep waters? On that front, not really.” She shrugged and tossed a look at the older man.” Well to be completely honest I wouldn’t mind one day going to the deep ocean on a boat.” She admitted, getting to the cleaning that needed to be done.” I think, I might like it there. It would be nice and calm most of the time.”

The medical room on board the boat was small, well cramped would be the proper word for it, but hey it was getting the job done.” This is likely to take a few hours and it’s not even a bad case of it.” She chuckled as she got to cleaning and sterilizing.” We are lucky they must have not encountered anything bad out there. It’s going to be a longer more monotonous job today it seems.” She smiled and tossed a look at Manny.” Again it’s likely you’ve got to leave before we finish here, but don’t worry. No need to hurry with the task.” She reassured him and focused on the job.

Well she hoped that a few of the tricks of the trade she had picked up along the years would help speed up the process, but as she was wiping up surfaces and tools, she realized it wasn’t going to cut it right now. She’d have to do it all properly down to the basics without any smart tricks up her sleeve. She didn’t mind much though. She had nowhere to hurry to today.

Alexander Polawski

Alexander couldn't be certain he was actually hearing sounds coming from the far distance, sounds of talking voices and running feet on hard steps. Perhaps him having lifted his head after taking a reverse nose-dive had depleted his brain of much-needed oxygen and all he was hearing was the faint recollections of either his time in boot-camp or chasing a burglar down the stairs. It was a real possibility, because what little brain power he had left was still focused on attaching the prostethic leg onto his stump.

Attempting to attach his leg was perhaps more fitting, as he was fumbling with it upon the entrance of Thalia plus another face he did not recognize. The haze that had engulfed ol' Mugsy was slowly blown away from his vision as he stopped what he was doing and looking up at the approaching Medic. Medic? "Connor? No, wait…wrong Medic." Alexander answered Medic as he was introduced, feeling his senses come back to him and his understanding of the situation alongside it. No, he was in fact not in some Yankee dug-out, but the basement of the Administration building of Camp Mexico Beach. This man was in-fact not 'Jude' Connor, not even the right race.

"Alexander. No, I don't think so…I mean it hurts like a mother fucker, my bum. Slipped on something, unless I've gone and pissed myself, which…I'm not that old. Thalia?" Alexander responded to the medical expert, trying to sit up straight and getting a feel of himself. Yes he was in pain, but how bad it was he couldn't really tell. Pain was odd like that, both tangible and yet hard to measure. Alexander had at this point turned his attention back to his leg, looking from it and over to Thalia, then Medic. "The leg came off, but I think it's fine. Would you be so kind and help me get it back on, son? I'd rather be crippled with both my legs attached just yet."

Nigel Cooper

She preferred "Athena" to "Muse of Poseidon". Nigel narrowed his grin into a normal smile, agreeing on her judgement on who she'd rather be. "Athena, excellent choice. I couldn't agree more really." Nigel said with his almost childhish smile, pleasently surprised by the historical banter he was having with Thana, something he really couldn't have had with anyone else in the camp. The expections had been Erica and her friendship, Adelaide from the bar the night before, and Joaquine with his theatrics. Thinking about it, Nigel so far preferred Erica and Thana. "Personally I'm biased towards Romulus, but that's perhaps not a surprise."

Nigel's smile wasn't one to retreat in the face of such a formidable pesonality as Thana, looking between her and the fish-filled with surrounding them. He'd seen the fishes when he had gone under, glad to see the servants of Neptune and Poseidon. He had never been in fervor with fishing or the sea life, but the sight of Nature doing what She did best had alongside everything he'd witnessed that day, was as if a sense of joy that hadn't been flowing through him for eons. And Thana's simple Latin added onto that? "Today's been a good day. It's been a long time since I've been able to say that."

Upon the suggestion that Nigel should possible want to attend some swimming-lessons run by the man called Maddoc, the Roman teacher was at a lack of words for a moment. Was this a jest on her part? Nigel could swim and dice, that was far from the…issue he was having - It was the depths that troubled him. The smile that had been planted on his face dripped off like the saltwater from his only recently buzz-haired head. But Nigel didn't get the same feeling he'd gotten from Hank and Wayne when they orated like Thana had, she felt genuine. "I'll consider it, if I'm to be posted here for the week. I guess it is something to fill my time with, between me sparring with Thalia, Joaquine…I guess my sword arm's going to be sore after this."

Then it was time to get back to work. Enough chattering, there was a battle to be fought so to speak. "I'm ready as I can ever be. I sure hope you're right, I've seen watery Undead before." Nigel retorted back to Thana, wiping his face for seawater and waiting for her further orders like the good legionaire he was. Ready to enter the realm of Neptune, like a fish out of water. How fitting.
