Sensation & Wonder is a roleplay based upon the structures and mechanics of previous games run under the Absolute Comics banner but with a goal of overcoming the past games' biggest weakness; a lack of collaborative writing. As such, Sensation & Wonder is a collaborative linear sandbox roleplay that seeks to merge and mix the lore of your favourite DC and Marvel characters into one living cohesive world. The idea behind this RP is not to embody our favourite heroes to simply retell iconic stories and origins but to take these characters and make them our own. In fact, the goal of the RP is for players to take their favourite characters and re-imagine them to tell stories together. We only ask that the 'heart' of the character remains the same. Players will take the roles of their favourite characters and tell stories in collaboration with other players in order to develop and grow the world.

How heavily mixed these elements are is dependent upon the players as the world and its lore is shaped by you and your stories. Do Bruce Wayne and Tony Stark know each other? Has Lady Shiva trained with Danny Rand? Have Thor and Superman gone toe to toe? These are questions for you to ask yourself and they can only be answered as the RP unfolds!

C H A R A C T E R S U B M I S S I O N S:

Due to the nature of the RP, character submissions will not be based on traditional sheets but on 'Character Proposals'. This differs in that instead of the usual fact spill that a character sheet is based on, a Character Proposal outlines the character you're intending to play, any differences from their source material and a proposed character arc. This is so we know coming in that you have a story you want to tell with this character. Although solo-writing was previously encouraged in past iterations of Absolute Comics, for Sensation & Wonder the emphasis is on collaborative writing. For this reason, the character sheet now includes a section for plots and stories to be fleshed out. While solo writing is allowed, it's not the main goal of the game. When creating a plot, if you have an idea for another character you'd normally write as an NPC, we ask that you instead look for a player willing to take on that role. Even your arc antagonist could be portrayed by another player.

For this reason, Sensation & Wonder is moving away from team sheets. If you desire the X-Men, I invite you to make an open request in the OOC and see if other players are also interested. In the event there is no further interest, you're still allowed to move ahead with the team sheet, but it is preferable that should an interested party come along, you try to accommodate them to the best of your ability. As this is a One Universe RP don't hesitate to mix the teams up a little or try out some new team-ups.

Another major difference this time around is that villainous characters are allowed. Anyone can apply as a villain with or without permission from the 'parent or 'hero' character with the exception of them being called out in an accepted plot or already appearing in the IC. Even still, it is encouraged to use a player character wherever possible however it is understandable that sometimes two ideas will simply not mesh.

Players will only be allowed one driving character concept to start with, potentially able to earn or request a second primary point of view at a later time, pending the IC's activity coupled with their own. However, due to the goals of the RP, it is asked that players instead focus on looking for other players to work alongside in either Roaming or Supporting roles. By no means are you required to fulfill all three roles, and please don't overload yourself, but collaboration is far preferred over simply writing in a corner.

Players interested in the same character will be judged based on the strength of their proposed concept with the GMs choosing the preferred candidate. In the event the GMs find both sheets to be of equal strengths, the decision may come down to which has interested Supporting or Roaming Characters. Should interest be equal or none, both parties may be asked to submit a sample post for review.

In the event that someone applies as a character you were interested in, you will have a window of twenty-four (24) hours to state your intent to compete for the character and then an additional seventy-two (72) hours to submit a competing application*. If a character submission goes unchallenged for twenty-four hours and the GMs have no outstanding issues with it, the character will be accepted.

Losing a character submission contest does not mean you've lost the chance to play the character. In the event of a dropout, you may re-state interest. Furthermore, you may approach the player who was granted the character and inquire about ghostwriting opportunities in supporting or roaming roles. In the event that another player lends their character to you for ghostwriting, no additional CS needs to be submitted as you are still writing the previously accepted character.

*All acceptances and reviews shall be delayed for a period of a week [seven (7) days] on the RP's initial launch. The rule of twenty-four hours to state intent will come into place after that period has expired.

All players will initially be allotted one Driving Character Concept, to begin with. However, players may have as many Roaming and Supporting Characters as they feel they can handle. These concepts may be any character from the Marvel or DC Universe. If applying as a 'Team Concept', a combination roster may be allowed at the scrutiny of the GM Team. Characters originally appearing in Manga or Anime are heavily discouraged because of their incompatibility with western superhero comics. Other comic titles discouraged are those belonging to science fiction genres such as Transformers, Star Trek, and Star Wars. We will judge all properties from outside of the Marvel and DC Universes on a case-by-case basis provided they fit the themes and tones of the game, but the above limitations are definitive.

We will grant a second Driving Character to players at the end of their first season within the game, provided they meet the following criteria. We will grant secondary concepts to players who remained consistent throughout the season, posting regularly of their own accord. The player should not be abrasive towards either the GMs or the other players, instead, inspiring the community and helping the game flourish. To summarize, players need to meet three criteria:

  • Be part of the game for a minimum of one Season
  • Post consistently over the course of the Season preceding the application
  • Contribute to the game and community positively (i.e. Comment on posts and discussions, take part in Crises, create Crossovers etc)

Players can compete for characters if an application for your desired character is posted ahead of yours and has not yet been accepted. To compete for a character, you have a twenty-four (24) hour window to state your intent to compete. The competing application(s) will then be given a seventy-two (72) hour deadline in which both players must submit their samples if they have not done so already. The GM Team will then judge the two competing applications. The winner will be selected by who the GMs believe portrays the character better and has a stronger concept. During this competition, the GMs may also vet a player's history to check for posting consistency or previous incidents of abrasive behaviours to better weigh their options.

In terms of character creation, you are free to overhaul and redesign any canon character from one of the aforementioned publishers. This means you can tell the story of the character how you believe it should be told. However, there is one major limitation, the heart and soul of the character must stay intact. The character should not be changed so much that they're unrecognizable. This means that Batman can't be a cold-blooded killer any more than Spider-Man can be a rich, well-off playboy. Every aspect of the character that isn't a key to their major identity is malleable, this can even include sex and abilities if so desired.

Absolutely no 'OOC' chatter in the In Character Thread. If you have a question or anything to explain there is an Out Of Character Thread provided. You have no excuse to make an 'OOC' comment in the IC and if done it will be heavily frowned upon. If you require a more immediate answer, don't hesitate to directly ask the GM Team or relevant player through tagging, PM or other methods.

Writing expectations for this roleplay are at least two (2) well-developed paragraphs as a minimum per post. Three (3) to five (5) paragraph posts, however, would be awesome so long as you're not simply chewing the scenery. Proper spelling and grammar are also expected but small mistakes here and there are understandable. Blatant offences will be called out.

You are required to post at least once per character within a fourteen (14) day period. There will be a post-check-in, once per week performed by the GMs in order to ensure the IC is moving consistently. Extensions will be given in extenuating circumstances. Please recognize your limitations before joining the RP, if you are unable to post once every ten days, then it's highly likely that you do not have enough time to keep up with the RP. In the event that you do miss the deadline, your character will be listed as 'inactive'. After a further week of inactivity, your character will be expelled, and dealt with as necessary in the IC, whether killed or used as needed and then discarded. This whole process is simply easier if you just let the GM know if you're unable to keep up or simply have lost interest in the RP. If you find yourself in a plot with another player and they disappear, do your best to move on without them and quickly finish the arc to the best of your ability, or ask for the help of a GM.

This is a Character-Driven RP, and as such you are encouraged and expected to take charge of your character's subplots and storylines. There will be a heavy emphasis on collaborative activities and team building as well. The GMs will be leading the RP in the traditional sense with a driving plot and will ensure the RP keeps moving however we do want to see you develop your characters and produce your own plots. However, we don't want to see you lock your character out of interaction and focus solely on your character and their 'world'. No one enjoys watching you play with yourself, it's always better to let someone else join in on the fun.

If you join this RP, if you take the time to submit an application, I'm putting my faith in you that you'll be committed to it and that the character you play will be consistent with the one in the agreed-upon CS. Personally, I have a hard time with this sometimes and I understand that things just happen. That said I’m referring to suddenly giving a character new powers with no explanation or completely changing their backstory in order to add new skills. I’m okay with changes but I’d like a heads-up first so perhaps we can work a more natural way towards these things happening. In terms of commitment, dropping out of the RP randomly for whatever reason is a pain or a GM. Simply put, it wastes my time along with the other players. If you do not think you can join and you're sure something will come up, do not join. The tendency to not care about an RP after a while? Don't join. Simple as that. I will work with you when it comes to bumps in the road. If you think you're going to be out for a couple of days, that's fine. I'll find a way to excuse you from the story or play your character. However, please let the group known as far in advance as possible. If you're going on a trip, tell me something. Do not leave me wondering where you are. Let me know so I can keep things going. I will work around you if you work with me when you can.

Created in response to the Justice League, the Avengers are a group of government-funded and registered heroes who operate within the means of the law. Overseen by a branch of the United Nations' Peace Keeping Division, the Avengers are limited by the UN's jurisdiction and any violation of such is considered a war crime.

Originally operating out of a tower in New York, the Avengers' primary base of operations was later moved to Washington D.C. to be amalgamated with S.H.I.E.L.D.'s Triskelion. That said, the Avengers still host a campus in upstate New York that is home to their training facilities and residential suites for those on reserve or who have been suspended or otherwise temporarily benched. S.H.I.E.L.D. Director Steven Rogers' helicarrier, Lady Liberty also operates as an unofficial mobile team base.

As a government-funded team, each Avenger is paid a salary and if desired has a living situation provided for them along with all their other needs. The Avengers have access to a wide variety of vehicles suitable for all known terrains on Earth.

A spiritual successor to the superhero teams that emerged around the time of the first two world wars, the Justice League was formed in the aftermath of an alien attack on the Eastern Seaboard of the United States. Comprised of numerous powered individuals, the Justice League is a voluntary team built by those wishing to do right by the world. They have no jurisdiction, although some would argue this means the League also has no accountability.

The Justice League operates out of an independent space station situated in Earth's orbit known as the Watchtower. Privately funded and built by an anonymous donor, the Watchtower is made out of cutting-edge technology and includes a teleportation system known as 'Zeta Beams' which allow members to transport to and from the base at any time. Each member is given a key encoded to their DNA to ensure not just anyone can access this system.

The Justice League has a secondary form of transportation known as the Javelin. A small craft capable of flight in the vacuum of space and atmospheric flight.

Richard 'Dick' Grayson, the boy from the circus, the boy wonder. He was Batman's first Robin and then they grew up and grew apart. Dick went off to college, earned a law degree and went to work for the authorities. But life had other plans for him and the former Robin became the present Nightwing. This is a pretty standard take on Nightwing, he banters, he has a thing for redheads. The only thing I will add, is he's a bit old and a bit wiser. His rift with Bruce is repaired a bit more since he's had more time to reflect and realize the benefits of his life with Bruce and Alfred. Most importantly, with Alfred gone, Dick has truly had to become the heart of the Batfamily and that's something I intend to show through his interactions with each of it's many members.

I think wanting to play your favourite character in all of fiction is a pretty obvious reason behind playing Dick Grayson. Add into the fact I'm intending him to be solely a supporting character, it takes off a lot of the stress that I normally feel when playing the character and planning out large plots that rarely come to fruition. Instead, this time around I'll be playing Blüdhaven's Knight mostly when approached by other players as outlined in the plot below.

Raised unaware that she was not a normal human girl in the Boston suburb of Beverly, MA, Carol Susan Jane Danvers grew up under her doting mother and distant father. Constantly trying to outdo her half-brothers at every sport or activity the boys came up with to earn her father's love, Carol was just a bit of a tomboy and it came to no one's surprise when she followed her half-brother's footsteps into the military.

A short stint in the military, a lucrative career as a test pilot and an alien encounter later, and Carol found herself not only an Avenger but a ring slingin' member of an intergalactic peace-keeping force.

I wanted to make use of the One Universe Setting and while making Captain Marvel into a Green Lantern perhaps isn't the most original idea going, I think I can tell a pretty good story drawing on elements from Carol's canon (and very convoluted) history and some of the Green Lantern elements without blocking a potential 'canon' Lantern.

One of the primary plots I want to write out is how Carol exactly became a ring slingin' green machine. Making use of the game's timey-whimey concepts, I'm going to be writing out a flashback that details Carol's journey to the present. Elsewhere, I'll be using Carol in a roaming capacity and dealing with everything from Avengers' level threats to issue parking tickets in the Kree Empire.

"What's'a matter, you never seen a teenage, all-American ghost before?"

Kitty Pryde was just your typical preteen girl with a life filled with homework, dance recitals, and a near-addiction to social media. Then, she wasn't so typical. In the span of five months, she discovered she was a mutant, had an attempt made on her life, and met the X-Men. Kitty, 15, is now going into her third full year as a student of the Xavier Institute and will have to overcome a lot of changes to the curriculum if she wants to earn her place as a member of the X-Men.

P L O T ( S ) & G O A L ( S ):

I like Kitty as a character. I wanted to write with Bounce. That's pretty much it.

We're going to be borrowing a lot from the early 2000's New Mutants structure and feature competing teams of students trying to earn a spot as junior X-Men via a semester-long tournament of sorts. So there's plenty of space and opportunity for people to join in the shenanigans.

C H A R A C T E R N O T E S:

Kitty was the first of the new generation of students, the first mutant resident, and trainee at the mansion outside of the various, rotating members of the X-Men. She's going to be part of the New Mutants team alongside @Bounce's Cherub, and the NPCs Katie Power, Sammy Pare, and Bobby Drake which we might swap to POVs of at any time.

What happens if an immortal goddess demands change in a stubborn world?

In this interpretation, Diana of Themyscira has lived a relatively long wondrous from the late-1910s to the present day. She has seen the beauty and the ugly of mankind, made many friends and enemies, and even fell in love. But even as she slowly adapted to the times, the Themysciran could only watch as the climate started to change in an unprecedented manner. There was only so much she could've done without governments and authorities interfering and putting enough red tapes to choke a rhino.

In the last decade, friends of Wonder Woman begun to notice a sublet change. Something that both world wars were unable to do. Something that didn't break when her first friend, Steve Trevor, was murdered in front of her. Something that she was still teaching about to everyone, including other heroes. Something that the Gods of Olympus bestowed upon her birth: Hope.

Wonder Woman was losing hope.

A year ago, I made the ragtag group known as Misfits as a response to what I felt in the midst of a global pandemic that shined a light on issues plaguing our world. Deep down, I had hoped these issues would've been properly addressed. But now? Uncharitable billionaires are having their own space race on the backs of their exhausted workers who don't make enough to afford rent. Record shattering heat waves, floodings, and wildfires destroying communities and lives while oil and gas executives rest comfortably. And corrupt politicians are desperately trying to maintain the idea that everything is still fine and everyone is happier than ever while the world burns on.

That got me thinking. How would heroes react to our current circumstances? And my mind went to Wonder Woman.

As a driving character, I would love folks to join as supporting and roaming characters if they wish to deal with political themes and topics. As for supporting characters, I am looking for someone to be Wonder Girl (preferably this version of Cassandra Sandsmark or Yara Flor) and Troia (Donna Troy but I don't want her to be Diana's sister or clone). I have plans for the Amazons, Twelve Olympians, Nubia, and Wonder Boy (Bobby Barnes).

One minute, a megafire endangers several agricultural communities in the Western United States. The next, record-breaking flooding creates chaos and threatens a large town in Ireland. Wonder Woman is doing all she could in the face of an inevitable climate apocalypse. But even she doesn't truly possess the power and wealth to bring forth meaningful changes. No, it's the dismissive politicians and selfish billionaire CEOs that wield such strength. So, instead of sitting on the sidelines in despair, Wonder Woman decides to fight back against climate inaction and inactivists, even if it upsets a lot of powerful individuals.

MR.FREEZE

VICTOR FRIES SUPERVILLAIN GOTHAM
C H A R A C T E R C O N C E P T:

Mr. Freeze was originally created to be a one-note villain whose gimmick was centered around ice and snow. But it took Batman: The Animated Series to elevate him to be one of the Dark Knight's most prominent supervillains in his Rogues Gallery. Because of his tragic backstory and personality, Mr. Freeze stood out amongst the cast as he was primarily motivated out of love whereas everyone else held vendettas or vices against Batman. While antagonist like Joker and Riddler enjoys battling the Caped Crusader, Mr. Freeze seems to be one of the few people that detest it. To the villain, every minute fighting Batman is a minute noting finding a cure for his wife so he treats the hero like an annoying pest at best to someone actively sabotaging any chances of saving his wife, Nora, at worst.

Renowned for his professionalism in villainy, his contemporaries would regard him as humorless or silently mad given his all-consuming drive to cure Nora. In most of his media portrayals, Mr. Freeze operates alone, with little to no henchmen, as he, quite frankly, lost his trust in other people since that lab accident. He believes that he alone has the skill and the integrity to cure his wife. This kind of hidden paranoia mixed with pride and wrath ensures that Batman couldn't save Nora, even if he wanted to, since Mr. Freeze has regarded him as too much of an enemy and threat to be near his wife. Whether he could be convinced otherwise remain to be seen.

P L O T ( S ) & G O A L ( S ):

I picked Mr. Freeze because I enjoy DC villains more than the Marvel counterparts, especially when I grew up on the Dark Knight Trilogy and the DC animated cartoons. I also enjoy playing villains because as Megamind has put it, it's all about the presentation. With his glowing red eyes from his goggles and his massive freeze gun, Mr. Freeze definitely has that gothic tech feel to him. Storywise, I enjoy his struggles since he is possibly the only person who can achieve redemption since he is motivated by his undying love for Nora; not greed nor lust. Usually, I explore heroism through the eyes of the villains with stories of them trying to be heroes in spite of their own destructive tendencies and egregious sins but in Mr. Freeze's case, he is a hero (a husband saving his wife) playing as the villain. He clearly hates his lifestyle but feels trapped and locked in contempt for himself and others. It would be a good way to explore the theme "What defines a villain more? What they do or what they represent?"

Beyond that, I'm thinking of also making Mr. Freeze a bit more sociable, sociable enough to host dinner parties and make some snark. I suspect even he knows that Nora wouldn't want to wake up and see her husband become a total recluse. It could be a way for him to regain some of his humanity back through observation. Additionally, given his fanatical devotion to his wife, Nora, I would have Mr. Freeze go berserk whenever someone insults his love. He already has a patience of a saint given his slow aging process but any dishonor to his wife would ignite his fury in an instant.

The overall goal is for him to find that cure. What happens after he finds it will be interesting since he would immediately give up villainy immediately only to run into a few roadblocks. Primarily his current identity as Mr. Freeze as he pretty much burned down his bridges with Gotham. He would discover that he can't go back to being a civilian that easily.
C H A R A C T E R N O T E S:

Currently, given that I'm the only person apping as a villain, he would most likely be a driving character for some plots. Personally, I would have him be a roaming or supporting status character since I'm not that confident in my writing ability. Other than that, he speaks with a slightly German accent and his animal motif is the polar bear

Worry not Nora, this is only temporary.

C H A R A C T E R C O N C E P T:

"..."

Cassandra Cain was born to be a killer. She was an experiment to create the ultimate assassin by her father, David Cain, a man so skilled he even trained Batman. He sought out the soon-to-be Lady Shiva and persuaded her into bearing his child.

Once born, his grand, insane experiment began. He deprived Cassandra of all language spoken and written, instead demanding that she only communicate with body language, and violence. The only word she knew was her first name, and she had trouble saying the entire thing. Just 'Cass.' No, her first language was one-on-one combat. While not wanting to give her a potential weakness by upgrading her abilities with magic or science, he did have pseudo-mystical doctors perform invasive surgeries on her to enhance her body's capabilities. For 15 long and brutal years she was molded into a killer. Cassandra's body-reading superceded well beyond what David could have ever predicted. It was mind, soul, and body reading all. Cassandra was connected to those around her in a primally human, yet utterly alien way.

What he didn't predict, in his cold, callous worldview, that his perfect weapon couldn't help but feel empathy. On her first mission when she was 15 years old, she butchered several dozen guards on her way to her target. Upon taking his life she watched him die, and understood death in a way no mortal ever had before. It was like she was experiencing it herself. As she fled from her horrible act she witnessed the dead and dying people she has massacred on her way there. Her fragile grip on her world view came crumbling down and she ran. Escaping her abuse father's clutches and living in the wild. She wandered the world, alone and full of guilt, eventually finding her way to Gotham City. Gotham City was in a place as dark as she was during that period. Compelled to help during these times, she saved people and battled some evil-doers. What really caught her attention was the Bat iconography around the city and on the television. Though she didn't understand what it meant, she saw the hope in people's eyes and the fear in wrongdoers hearts. Whenever they saw it, be in spray painted in a forgotten alley or flashing across screens.

Unknowingly echoing some members of those that came before, Cassandra knitted her first costume, a bat symbol on her chest, and took to the streets. It wasn't long before she was found by Batman. Although only knowing of it for a short time, the bat symbol had already had a profound affect on her life. Hope and fear, for those who need either one. A special kind of justice, away from goverment. A justice, in her mind, for the people of Gotham. The world.

It didn't take long for Cassandra to be accepted into the Bat-cave, though she's only been around for a year she's quickly engraining herself into the culture of the extended Bat family as eagerly and as quickly as possible. She's 17 years old and potentially the best fighter in the world, but there's a lot more that goes into crime fighting than punching and kicking. Batman's most likely figured out who she was trained by and where she came from. In most continuities he had training from David Cain, too. As for the rest of what he knows about her already, and the extent of their relationship, that remains to be seen. All Cassandra knows for sure is that the Bat has given her something to dedicate herself too that she knows is just and good. And she's not letting go of that for anything.

P L O T ( S ) & G O A L ( S ):

The main reason I want to play Cassandra Cain is because she's really cool.

There's a few reasons other than that, too. But that's the main one. She's fun, she's over-the-top, she's larger than life. And despite her preposterously grim upbringing, she's a really good person and a positive influence. She's tough, independant and strong-willed, but very vulnerable at the same time. Vulnerable, but not weak. There's a difference.

My goal is for Cassandra to play the role as the future successor of The Batmantle. Many other members of the Bat-family rightfully grow into their own people, find their true identity. Cassandra's niche is that she is totally and utterly dedicted to the idea of the Bat. As far as she's concerned, she's found her life's purpose already, and her arc is not going to be how that's a misconception for her. Cassandra has found her home in Gotham, and her role as her protector.

What character development she does have is going to be about self-acceptance and forgiveness. Cassandra Cain is still worried that all she'll ever be good for is killing, that she'll never be more than a killer. With all this love she has in her heart, very little of it is reserved for herself. Verging on deathwish. Sometimes she thinks all she'll need to be happy is to find a decent enough reason to sacrifice herself for someone else. But that's not a healthy mindset. It's possible to be a hero and help others without sacrificing yourself. Maybe it'll be better to help others in the long run.

I love her true zealous dedication to the no-kill rule. Cassandra understands what it means to kill, possibly better than anyone. When she looks at someone, she automatically calculates the easiest way to kill them. And she's seen someone (many people in this universe) die at her hand during a terrible night. She knows murder to be a terrible thing that no one deserves. Reformation, redemption, or just a life without harming others. That should be what happens to criminals. Anything other than spilling more blood.

Because if she is convinced that killers deserve death, then she'll have to give up on life. Therefore, her only option is absolution. For others, and herself. The only thing that she'll kill is the person she grew up as. And she firmly believes that even the worst folks can erase who they used to be and start anew. As long as the path to redemption can be made clear.

This Cassandra won't even hurt people if she can avoid it, preferring kindness over brutality. Of course someones harm reduction means breaking fingers and kneecaps, but outside of that she's reluctant to cause pain.

This Cassandra is going to be a bit of a rulebreaker and an anarchist, having spent a lifetime exclusively doing what other people have told her to do and being utterly sick of it. She's dedicated to the idea, the symbol of the Bat, more than she is to Batman or anyone else.

Finally, there's Cassandra's disability. She can't talk very well, able to pronounce very few words and having a hard stutter. I don't intend on Cassandra ever really learning to talk. Her brain, her mind, have been totally re-wired to experience the world in a different way. Like, society could have developed differently and she'd be right at home. But instead humans went vocal, so Cassandra feels like a fish out of water. She'll learn to say 'Yes, no, hi,' and the names of people close to her. Literacy is also going to be a struggle for her, but over the course of her adult life she can do it. Certainly not anytime soon in this RP other than the very very basics. She'll be relying on what she does know of English, and her insane ability to read intention, emotion, and expressions to preposterous degree. I suppose in this interpretation I've just made the pros and cons of her upbringing even more exaggerated. She's way more powerful in the ways she is powerful, but struggles far more with the parts she struggles with. This all being said, being quiet doesn't mean Cassandra can't express herself. And her usual sassy, cocky, compassionate and bright self. Her greatest superpower is her sensitivity for others. And not just because of her ability.

C H A R A C T E R N O T E S:

Well I certainly want Cassandra to be a real professional badass. Like, her senses are going to be super enhanced, too. Like she could find blindfolded, or defeaned. Or both just operating on smell, vibrations she feels with her feet, and where she's getting hit. Just a real supreme martial artist. Like
a pseudo spider-sense that'll help her keep up with the more powerful characters. Punch Queen #1. And just very fast, predatory, stealthy, ridiculously agile and performing well-beyond olympian feats. But, if something isn't related to her assassin training, she'll struggle with it. She has to learn how to out think her opponents rather than just out fight them. Sometimes it's going to be hard to sneak up on an enemy, or getting into grapple hook/ batarang range. Those situations are where she's going to have to rely on others for help.

Like I mentioned earlier, I really cranked her body-reading up to 11. I wanted it to be more like soul-reading, or just true understanding of connectivity. So she's a human lie detector. She understands people very quickly. The longer she has to study someone, the more fine-tuned her prediction of them will become. As she understands how this specific indivdual moves. It'll even work on aliens and robots. If it has a body, the way it moves can become clear to her. This will help her in dodging bullets, too, of course, besides her regular evasive tactics. If she has line of sight she can read where and when they are going to shoot at her.

Alternatively, if they had a sticky note on their head that said 'I'M GOING TO UPPERCUT YOU', she'd have no idea. And if she tries to communicate or explain this information to one of her teammates who could potentially put it to better use than she could- good luck. Hacking is just completely off the table.

C H A R A C T E R C O N C E P T:

"Flash Fact: force equals mass times acceleration. And nobody’s better at acceleration than me."

My story’s one you’re probably all familiar with. Boy meets girl, boy falls for girl, boy watches his mother killed in front of him by a blur of yellow lightning, boy’s father is wrongfully imprisoned for murder, boy loses girl.

Years later, boy grows up and becomes a forensic sciences major in order to prove boy’s father was innocent, boy moves back home, boy meets girl again, boy gets a job at a crime lab for the same police department girl is writing an exposé on, boy falls for girl again. Boy gets caught up in an interdimensional resonance cascade at a high-concept super-science laboratory, boy can suddenly tap into an undiscovered force in the universe that lets him warp time and space around him to move at impossible speeds. Boy is enlisted by super-genius director of said laboratory as a proverbial guinea pig to push the boundaries of known physics, boy sees people in danger and goes off the beaten path to save them, boy begins an exciting and illustrious career fighting crime and saving people as the Fastest Man Alive.

Tale as old as time, right?

Well, I’ve been on the job for a few years now, and I’m dangerously close to having my act together. I got my BS and am working on my Masters degree. I finally moved out of Mr. Garrick’s garage and have an apartment to myself uptown. Captain West actually laughs at my jokes now…well, sometimes…once or twice. But he doesn’t stare daggers at me when I’m with Iris anymore. And speaking of Iris, I finally worked up the courage, and she said yes. And as the Flash, I’ve saved the city more times than I can count, even saved the whole world once or twice, though that’s usually as part of a team. I’ve got my own sidekick —Iris's nephew Wally— a trophy room packed with enough stuff that I could open my own museum, and I’m even on the Justice League! Like, main inner circle! I get to sit at the table with Superman and Batman and Wonder Woman! And they think I know what I’m doing! ….well, Batman probably doesn’t….

Still, even with things looking up, none of it’s guaranteed to stay that way. If there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s that life comes at you fast. Lucky for me, fast is what I’m all about.

OOC Thoughts:
I’ll be honest, Flash hasn’t ever really been one of my favorites. Comic Barry has always been a bit of a snore, CW Barry started off fun and then fell off, and movie Barry is mostly irritating. However, there are two versions of the Flash that I absolutely love and will be drawing my inspiration from: Wally from the DCAU, and Byrd Man’s take on Flash from Ultimate DC way back in the day. Playing into the “dork in real life, swaggering adventurer in costume” archetype, I’m also infusing this version of Barry with bits of Spectacular Spider-Man, Archie and IDW’s take on Sonic the Hedgehog, and David Tennant’s run as the Doctor. Basically anyone who talks fast and banters a lot, but backs it up with genuine heroics.

P L O T ( S ) & G O A L ( S ):

ROAMING CHARACTER

Rather than being a driving character, I want to take advantage of the Flash’s speed and his nature as a team player to primarily work doing crossovers and team-ups. While Barry definitely has his own things going on, I feel like he’s best served as part of an ensemble, so I plan on keeping his dance card open as much as possible.

C H A R A C T E R N O T E S:

THE SPEED FORCE

CENTRAL AND KEYSTONE CITIES

S.T.A.R. LABS

SUPPORTING CAST

ENEMIES

COSTUMES

Like any hero worth his salt, I've got a fairly decent wardrobe for all sorts of occasions.

C H A R A C T E R C O N C E P T:

"I'm beginning to think you need to take a vacation, Doc. I can save you a spot on a nice Raft in the bay."

There have been a lot of great incarnations of Peter Parker over the years, and I think the version that works best is when he's an young adult and can't quite catch a break. Enough origin stories or young versions of Peter Parker have been immortalized, so I think having a more experienced Spider-Man makes more sense. He's put away many in his Rogues gallery a few times, but they always manage to escape and become repeat offenders. He would be a longer-standing member of the Avengers, believing in heroes having accountability for their actions... and so he can get a constant supply of necessary tech to accomplish what he needs to. Peter isn't able to hold down a steady job, and instead has to rely on freelance work as a photographer for the Bugle, and occasionally doing some technical consulting to convince himself he didn't waste five years getting a dual degree in mechanical engineering and biochemistry.

This version of Peter doesn't differ much from what you would expect. He tries to maintain his only healthy friendship with Mayoral candidate Harry Osborn and tries to keep tabs on his Aunt May, but there are hardly enough hours in the day. Peter has suffered the heartbreak of losing his first love in a battle with the Green Goblin, and indulging in true vengeance only once in refusing to save Norman Osborn shortly thereafter. He's been around the world and perhaps even been in space once or twice. But he's also getting into his thirties with no stable income and living in a cramped studio apartment in Hell's Kitchen. Most of the people Peter talks to are either fighting alongside him or trying to kill him. It's unhealthy, to say the least. But Peter never gives up and always keeps trying to do the right thing. After all... with great power...

P L O T ( S ) & G O A L ( S ):

You know, Spider-Man is perhaps the first super hero I ever had interest in as a kid. The newspaper we got every Sunday when I was young printed cheap new copies of the original Spider-Man run and they were the first comics I read as a kid. I think it's about time I took a shot at writing the character and trying to tell a compelling Spider-Man story. Here are the three story focuses I have planned currently for Spider-Man, in no particular order.

SOMETHING SINISTER

Six of Spider-Man's most dangerous rogues have all escaped prison simultaneously under suspicious circumstances. They seem to have a primary goal: to kill the Spider-Man. All the while, a dangerous foe from Spider-Man's past comes back into town seeking vengeance against a mutual enemy. Will Spider-Man be able to keep up with his foes? Will he be able to trust one of his long-time adversaries? And can Peter discover who is orchestrating things behind the scenes before his nemesis has him dead to rights?
Characters Involved: Spider-Man, Agent Venom, the Sinister Six, other heroes.
Desired # of Players: 2-4

STREETS PAINTED RED

The NYC art scene is notorious for being a dangerous game. Major criminals steal and trade in major art pieces, but someone as of late has had the audacity to start stealing art pieces from some of the most dangerous criminals in town. Crime families are starting to point fingers, and it's only a matter of time before there is a true war on the streets of Manhattan.
Characters Involved: Spider-Man, Black Cat, Mysterio, Prowler, Various Gangsters, Any street level heroes
Desired # of Players: Any

The general outline for what I am intending in a first arc playing Spider-Man is placing emphasis on a Peter Parker who is overwhelmed, and is going to have to rely on allies significantly for the first time in order to keep New York from falling into chaos. Gang Warfare is erupting in the streets as six of Spider-Man's most sinister adversaries are plotting to destroy the webslinger once and for all. Spider-Man finds himself at the end of his rope as he is called in constantly to aid the Avengers and other heroes more and more, and is ultimately going to have to unravel the mystery of who is trying to kill him. I have listed in the notes section just a few ideas for potential supporting characters that would mesh well with this story.

Still an Avenger... Absolutely: One last thing I think is important to focus on, especially with how this RP operates... Peter doesn't know how to say no to people who need help. He's a founding member of the Avengers, and is happy to lend a hand to any hero in need. Feel free to get in touch if you're interested in having the wallcrawler pay a visit.

In this interpretation, a banished Klyntar did bond with Spider-Man and fed on the hero's desire to stop the Green Goblin's reign of terror. But when he couldn't save his lover, Gwen Stacy, after being used as bait, something unexpected happened to the symbiote. The symbiote was beginning to experience every emotion that both Spider-Man and Peter Parker have ever felt. And it became overwhelmed for the first time ever, causing him to sever the bond.

Upon escaping to a relatively quiet church, the Klyntar stubborn upon a broken man seeking forgiveness. Edward Brock had lost his admirable job and was disowned by his father. He planned on committing suicide after he visited the church. But, the symbiote sensed his hatred towards Spider-Man and pain for losing everything meaningful in his life. That was the night that Venom was born.

And for four years, Venom terrorized Spider-Man and Peter Parker throughout New York City. It was always the same story: someone close to their mortal enemy gets hurt, Spider-Man shows up and fights Venom. And it always ended the same with Spider-Man coming out on top while Venom got locked up in prison only to escape to repeat the story again. But then, 2018 came and forever changed both Eddie and the symbiote.

A completely different symbiote bonded with a known serial killer, Cletus Kasadym, and became Carnage as they began a rampage through Manhattan, killing dozens of innocents. Upon learning of the murders, Venom met up with the killer in an attempt to neutralize them. But, Carnage saw through the lies and quickly overwhelmed them while learning about Anne Weying. Venom tried to save their only friend from a monster, but it was already too late.

With no other options and a determination to get revenge, Venom sought help from their mortal enemy: Spider-Man. So, the two of them worked together to track down Carnage leading them to the North Brother Island. That was when Venom abruptly betrayed Spider-Man and allowing Carnage to kill them in exchange for a truce. But, then, something strange happened. The symbiote started to re-experience the same emotions that they felt four years ago. But, it emphasized Peter's memories of Uncle Ben and Gwen Stacy—the good and the bad.

Eddie, still bonded with the symbiote, also experienced everything and made him sympathize with his swore enemy. Upon learning that their pain was identical, Venom surprised Spider-Man by tackling Carnage and causing them to fall into the fire below. Unsurprisingly, everyone thought that both Venom and Carnage died on that night. But it wasn't the end of their story. Venom found themselves washed up on the shores of Massachusetts. And instead of returning to New York, Eddie and the symbiote chose to remain dead to focus on themselves. That was what they did for two years.

Then, an evening news segment on a string of bizarre murders caught their attention. Afraid that Carnage was back in action and seeking revenge against Spider-Man, Eddie and the symbiote made the decision to return to New York City. Not as the infamous Venom but as Agent Venom.

I have been dreaming of playing Venom ever since I joined the superhero roleplays years ago. So, I was incredibly grateful to @webboysurf when he listened and gave me the all-clear to play out my version of Venom. For this roleplay, I am planning on having Eddie and the symbiote desperately trying to reform (with help from the web-head, of course). So, as a roaming character, don't be surprised if you see them swinging around New York City with a familiar web-slinger (and any other wall-crawlers).

Overall, the entire story will be about Venom and Eddie having remorse and empathy all because of their former mortal enemy.

Having lost his parents to a common mugger, Bruce Wayne dedicated his life to training himself in ridding Gotham City's streets of crime. At first believing he could accomplish this legitimately, pursuing a law degree, a career with the FBI, and even S.H.I.E.L.D. Academy, Wayne eventually realized that he had to go outside of the law in order to accomplish his goal. Eighteen years after beginning his traversal of the world, from the mountains of the Himilayas to the hidden jungles of Wakanda, employing a number of instructors from organizations such as The Court Of Owls, The Chaste, and The League Of Shadows, Wayne returned to Gotham City and became the vigilante known only to a superstitious and cowardly lot as The Batman. Having aligned himself with James Gordon, eventual Commissioner of the GCPD, aswell as his own self-styled 'family' of vigilantes such as Dick Grayson, Barbara Gordon, Jason Todd, Timothy Drake, Stephanie Brown, Cassandra Cain, Kate Kane, Duke Thomas, Jean-Paul Valley, Helena Bertinelli, and even his own biological son Damian, The Batman's been operating in Gotham for the last fifteen years, living out his dual life as a billionaire socialite by day and the scourge of evil by night.

Now in his mid-forties, Wayne's become reluctant to admit that his once perfectly honed body and mind are starting to show the signs of age and damage from half a lifetime spent waging his war on criminals. Employing a number of gadgets and vehicles to keep him ahead of the curve, it's become apparent that his days as The Dark Knight are now numbered, whether it be by many years or few precious months ahead. His sense of melancholy has only been strengthened by the death of his adoptive father figure and mentor, Alfred Pennyworth, making Bruce more determined than ever to lead a better example in remembrance of the man who believed in him most...

My intention is to portray an older Batman who's lived out a more-or-less full career, with all of the sidekicks and rogues' gallery members you could imagine. The reason for this is because I want to explore the fragility of Bruce Wayne as a man, something that the comics often forget in their attempt to heighten the capability of the character against his superhuman contemporaries. He's one of the world's greatest detectives, one of its shrewdest warriors, and a legendary hero at this point, but he's still susceptible to everything that plagues humanity - age, disease, and even death. So to take a look at Bruce's mid-life crisis against the backdrop of a One Universe setting is an opportunity that I can't ignore.

HOW THEY CAME TO BE

A prominent figure from Gotham's history and Batman's past is found murdered, to the astonishment of The Caped Crusader. This person was believed to be dead already, and the method of their homicide strongly indicates that someone in Gotham has pieced together the truth of Bruce Wayne's dual identity. Determined to find the killer before they can claim another of his allies, Batman's journey through a past trauma will lead him on a quest through the Gotham underworld - to many of the enemies that he's made over the years - in an effort to discern who's responsible and why.

Characters Involved: Commissioner Gordon, Two-Face, The Scarecrow, and more as the season progresses
Desired # of Players: Unlimited

SCORCHED EARTH

The Joker has gone wild once again, this time targeting every past associate to ever hench for his horrific crimes and every hideout that's ever acted as his hideaway from the law. Something's got The Clown Prince Of Crime more on edge than ever before, and Batman's determined to figure out why - before The Thin White Duke Of Death's drive to scrape away all traces of his career can leave Gotham City itself in a state of disarray.

Characters Involved: The Joker, Harley Quinn, any others that would be willing to join
Desired # of Players: 1-5

THE HAUNTING OF ARKHAM

Strange happenings and unexplained phenomena have begun to take place within the hellish halls of Arkham Asylum, leading to guards and inmates being murdered in increasingly brutal ways with no sign of escape or forced entry. Batman investigates the cause, having already concluded - based on the available evidence - that the responsible party may not even be of this earthly plane. Or, at least, that these crimes have been designed to appear that way...

Characters Involved: Jeremiah Arkham, Commissioner Gordon, Cash Warren, foes of lesser reknown
Desired # of Players: 1-4

FAMILY REUNION

Following a botched attempt to rescue his fellow vigilante and biological cousin, Batman and Batwoman find themselves trapped in a deadly game with Edward Nigma, aka The Riddler, acting as their tormentor. As the two work out all possible strategies to escape and the clock ticks away at their impending doom, the Dark Duo find themselves working out some familial issues that have plagued their relationship since the beginning, with one revealing a secret to the other that will change the course of everything.

Born in small town Iowa to local butchers Harold and Edith Barton, Harold liked to drink too much and would take his issues with the world out on Edith, and sons Charles (known as Barney) and Clinton. The drink one day took both parents lives, with Harold driving into a tree whilst heavily under the influence, with his wife in the passenger seat, leaving both boys orphaned. Bouncing around various foster homes, the boys were desperate to find a way to remain together, and eventually landed on the brilliant solution of a ten year old boy.

They would run away and join the circus.

Working first as general roustabouts, it wasn't long before the boys were starting to find their ways into shows in bit parts as extras in clown-work, and learning the odd acrobatic move or stunt. The prodigious young boy's potential and amazing hand-eye coordination was noted by global circus headliner Jacques Duquesne - the Sensational Swordsman! - and he began to train him, as well as convincing amazing archer Buck Chisholm - the Tremendous Trick Shot!

Unfortunately, the pair of amazing attractions had less-than-legal alternative forms of income away from the circus, and after extremely rough falling outs with both men (each incident leading to severe injury, near death on the part of Clint) the younger Barton was left with a lot of skills and questionable direction. Having nowhere else to go he remained with the circus, only to watch it change hands as an old lost relative of the current ringmaster returned to pursue his family legacy. Maynard Tiboldt had lost much of his money having previously gone out on his own to make a career as an inventor, seeking to find electronic devices to aid psychological conditions. He felt there were forms of electronic psychotherapy which could bring a great boon to mankind, and that the field had been harmed by the negative reputation brought on by crude techniques such as electroshock therapy. Unfortunately, he underestimated just how much this was the case, and found it difficult to find further investment BECAUSE of this, and had to return to the family circus hat in hand, embittered with shame.

The era had not been kind to circuses however. People now were capable of being wowed, and entertained from various other cheaper, if not free, sources. Current affairs programs hammered some circuses on animal welfare issues, and even the ones who did right by theirs bore the brunt of such a backlash.

Unwilling to twice be ruined by unearned shots to his field's reputation, Tiboldt lashed out and turned to crime. By this point it was an easy sell to most of the workers, many of whom had also followed Swordsman and Trick Shot's example and started down that path to supplement waning income already. Gradually he grew a network within the circus, relying on the facts that carnival workers seldom trusted police, and if he could get enough of the workers onside, the rest would have little choice but to go ahead, or leave.

As a young performer, who had his own reputation for going against previous star performers Duquesne and Buck, he was very much kept in the dark on Maynard's criminal machinations, large thefts were planned after his oarts of performances, and young Clint was completely oblivious to what was taking place. But now earned notoriety was surrounding the circus, to the point that it was staked out by certain costumed heroes, keen on getting to the bottom of the string of mysterious crimes which seemed to follow the circus.

Maynard Tiboldt had been performing mass-hypnosis using a device of his own invention within his own hat. Iron Man and the Avengers broke from their seats as the method of crime became apparent, only to find themselves brought under the Ringmaster's thrall. Fortnately Clint had returned after his show, curious by the nature of some of these coloured costumed Avengers, and turned the tables on the Circus of Crime by knocking the Ringmaster's hat from his head with an arrow.

The Avengers ended the Criminal Circus' run of crimes and arrested most of the offending carnival workers, this left Clint both out of work and with only one reference of any value for future employment. Fortunately it was a good one.

Iron Man was impressed with how Clint had handled himself, and Clint in turn was impressed with the notion of a regular man going out and performing these feats of heroism with only himself and the fruits of his own creativity.

'Hawkeye' joined the Avengers, first on a probationary role, before fully earning his stripes. Unfortunately it eventually proved not to be the perfect fit for Clint, as the anti-authoritarian Avenger bristled with what he saw as marching orders being given by the team's handlers who kept the Avengers accountable. He parted ways with the team on good terms with most of the teams heroes, but unable to approve of being a part of a team where they're micromanaged and directed by political machinations.

Fortunately the Avengers weren't the only show in town, and he'd more than impressed with his capabilities at this point.

Why do you want to play this character, what is the driving motivation behind both this desire and the character themselves?

It's somewhat baffled me that Green Arrow has been the archer of preference in these kinds of games. Clint, to be perfectly honest, has a more instantly recognisable "fun" personality, he's virtually synonymous with a team environment (having been a part of the Avengers, Defenders, led the West Coast Avengers, filled a mentor role for the Great Lakes Avengers, led the Thunderbolts... and was even the first Marvel character to get Justice League membership in the crossover publications they printed). If there's a team in comics Hawkeye COULD be on, he's pretty much been on it. Which demonstrates how fitting he is for a game like this where collaboration is front and centre.

Hawkeye had long been defined by his brash bull-headedness against authority figures (particularly male authority figures), redemption, and the troubles brought around by his weakness for the fairer sex. I think I've got enough laid out that I can accurately portray these things.

What do you hope to accomplish and where do you want the character's story/stories to go?

This will be a younger Hawkeye, back when he was still very much butting heads and driving to become the kind of leader he believes himself to be... even if he's not quite there yet. That journey is the one we're on now.

This will be a ROAMING character generally, and at least at first. Although I may interject the odd plot line in the mix to round things out, introduce backstory and add depth. For the most part there will be a lot of drifting around with Justice League activities.

Sly, subtle, but all the same able to tear a man apart. a true femme fatale... That was Dinah's mother back in the war. One of the later adopted members to the Justice Society of America, Dinah Drake would, coupled with the abilities of her teammates and her own power, the Canary Cry, spend the last few years of the war pushing back against the Nazi and reclaiming Europe. Running counter-intelligence, espionage, skirmishes and, when needed, fighting on the front lines. The JSA did it all..

But that was all a long time ago now, the first Canary has grown old. She passed on the legacy to her daughter who found herself with the same power, the same Canary Cry, with which she began a crusade as the
New Black Canary.

Dinah Laurel Lance has been operating as the Black Canary for nearly a decade now, and most of that time as a member of the Avengers Initiative. Turns out if your mother worked for a secret government agency, and you adopt her namesake, it's not too difficult for certain people to find out your identity. A job was offered, and she's been with them ever since.

Black Canary has never really been my favourite DC hero, the younger portrayals may well fit in with the less authoritative operations of the Justice League but, I could never really see herself doing that as she got older, less brash and impulsive. To me she does fit with the rest of the JL mould, and so I wanted to make use of the freedom Absolute Comics provides, and place her somewhere I feel she more rightly belongs- the Avengers.

This will be a young Dinah, around her mid-to-late twenties and after she's grown out of her independent crimefighter days, opting to work as an Avenger alongside others, figuring she can do more good in the world that way. Maybe she'll defect to the Justice League, who knows. Maybe she'll fall for an archer, WHO KNOWS!

For now, I'm keeping Black Canary as a Roaming character that'll show for Avengers Missions and maybe some S.H.I.E.L.D. adventures, mainly focussing on @Sep's Lady Liberty journey of finding Fury- if that ever gets off the ground. Though I might switch her to a Driving character if more Avenger adventures are needed to keep the roster busy. (seriously, why are all the Avengers green?!)

A child prodigy, Tim Drake deduced the identity of the infamous Batman of Gotham at the mere age of 11, following his exploits closely over the next few years as he further trained both his academic and athletic skillset. Tim, from his observations, soon noticed a change in Batman's personality over the years and decided that if anyone could help the caped crusader, it was him. Besides, what teenager didn't dream of being a hero? Initially rejected, he forced the Bat's hand by donning a costume of his own and taking to the streets. It was only after saving Gotham's defender during a run-in with Two-Face did he finally accept Tim as the new Robin on a trial basis. Tim has been fighting by Bruce's side ever since.

His skills improved drastically over the years, and not just in regards to beating up bad guys. He spent a fair amount of time honing his mind, with Tim's slight tinkerings to the Bat-Computer eventually leading to nearly an entire redesign, with improved security measures and capabilities.

Eventually deciding he was growing too big for the nest, Tim decided to spread his wings. Setting up shop in the newly refurbished Old Wayne Tower, which he fondly dubbed the Belfry, Tim gave up his Robin costume, taking on a new role; Red Robin, with him believing that he could now work more maturely without tarnishing an existing symbol.

Despite his new identity and newfound confidence, Tim worries that he isn't doing enough and whether he could bring more good to the world if he focused his efforts away from the world of heroics and wonder.

As my favourite Robin, Tim is always a character I've wanted to write. I'm a particular fan of his Red Robin series, which saw him move on from his Robin persona, as well as his more recent arcs within Detective Comics, where we see Tim debating leaving behind the role altogether in a search for his identity away from the Robin moniker. These themes are something I would really like to expand upon, especially in a collaborative environment like this.

As a support character, I initially plan on Tim sticking within Gotham, engaging in many of the ongoing plots there (How they came to be), as well as participating in larger events (Scorched Earth). This would give him the perfect opportunity to collaborate with many of the Bat-family and allow me to really see the role which he plays within it.

Outside of this, Tim also has aspirations of improving the world outside of Gotham, and as such, I plan on him reaching out to other like-minded characters with similar ideals to foster a better tomorrow through hope and wisdom rather than unjust force. More of a team of Champions, rather than your Young Avengers.

Blade's a man stuck on the bridge between two worlds: night and day. The living and the dead. Monster and man. Luckily, he's chosen the side that doesn't suck blood for a living and mostly flipped the bird to the side that does. For fifteen years, Blade's been waging a one-man war against the forces of the night, safeguarding humanity from becoming prey in his hometown of New Orleans. Yet, in spite of all his efforts, Blade finds himself weary from being shunned from both worlds as an outsider, either out of fear or perceived betrayal of his heritage.

P L O T ( S ) & G O A L ( S ):

Blade will largely be a Stationary Character who will be the keystone in most of the supernatural happenings in this world. New Orleans, as well, is a rich environment that's rife with storytelling potential that will allow for a myriad of interactions amongst obscure and popular characters that anyone chooses to play. Blade's storylines will attract characters of a mystical, gritty persuasion and players who have a deep interest in urban fantasy.

Issue 1: THE SANGUINE SYMPHONY

A vampire's plot afoot in New Orleans as a string of seemingly unconnected murders all have one thing in common: paper white corpses drained of blood. Only there's a problem. It's on the eve of Mardi Gras and all local vampire sects, regardless of affiliation, declare truce with the human race for a period of two weeks. No feedings, no kidnappings, no interfering with the livestock. With a full out war between the vampire clans of New Orleans on the horizon, Eric must delve into the seedy streets of the parish and find the true murderer before eternal twilight falls over the Orient City.

BLACK WIDOW

Natalia Alianovna Romanova Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D Here, There And Everywhere
C H A R A C T E R C O N C E P T:

"I don't need a home. I don't need a family. I don't need friends. I just need to finish this job."

Where Natasha was born in Russia is an unknown, as well as her biological parents, and even her date of birth. She does not remember any of her life before being brought to the 'Red Room' so as far as she is considered that is where she was born. Here she received heavy psychological conditioning and biochemical manipulation via injection with the Red Rooms version of the 'Super-Soldier' serum, as well as various other experimental serums intended to make her easier to control and expand her lifespan. Natasha was trained and excelled in many forms of martial arts and espionage, as well as displaying excellent acrobatic ability and marksmanship with firearms, this caught the eyes of the directors of the Red Room. One of the earliest missions that Natasha was deployed on was an undercover operation in the USA, here she developed an unlikely relationship with Alexei Shostakov (The Red Guardian) and Yelena Belova (Another Red Room operative), who became akin to her foster father and foster sister respectively. Although as soon as the mission was completed they were separated, they would cross each others paths occasionally in future missions, however Natasha quickly learned that people would come and go and that no matter how she began to feel for others she ultimately would be alone in the world.

Natasha could be considered to be the key operative of the Red Room. Carrying out many assassinations on its targets as well as successfully sabotaging and gathering information on opposing organizations and governments. Although her age is unknown and she appears to be somewhere in her early 20s, Natasha has been active for years and years and has gained rather extensive experience. It is unknown when exactly it was that Natasha began to have thoughts of defection or even had a change of heart, it is not something she has spoken of but most who speculate assume it to be a 'straw that broke the camels back' situation. Assuming that Natasha had a good nature there was only so much that her heart and mind could take, and only a matter of time before the conditioning of the 'Red Room' could make up for that, or even that it could potentially be a deep cover operation from the start. Natasha has never corrected anyone on their own pet theories. Whatever it was that led it to happening, Natasha found herself making contact with S.H.I.E.L.D (perhaps Nick Fury and Colonel Rogers could have been involved) and worked out a deal to defect to them.

Since then Natasha has operated as a diligent and constantly active Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D, making herself almost indispensable to them, as far as one can be at least. She has also been considered as a member of the Avengers, although currently she does not feel much belonging on a team, or even to be considered in the midst of heroes.

P L O T ( S ) & G O A L ( S ):

I would like to play this character because it is one I have always enjoyed whether it be in the MCU movies of the comics. I am also rather intrigued with the spy aspect of the character along with the superhero one, which could allow for more diversity in story ideas like maybe a bit of James Bond or more grounded and gritty stories paired with the more traditional superhero antics.

Ideally she would start as a roaming character who shows up in the stories that other characters are driving. (I know already that there is a Batman story planned with Natasha involved, and I think that she could easily get involved with stories concerning S.H.I.E.L.D) Hopefully after appearing in a few others stories I plan on transitioning Natasha into a driving character in her own right although I don't want to start making any concrete plans for that at this moment as it could be quite dependent on how things go.

I think there is a lot of potential for Black Widow to have some history with several characters due to her history as a Red Room operative and an agent of S.H.I.E.L.D, whether they were allies of enemies could also be something to consider. With that said I do not have any plans for this version of Natasha to have had any romantic relationships in her life so far, purely using her 'seductive charms' as part of her skillset on missions. I also do not plan for romance to be particularly important to the character and think their growth through story would be more healing from her past and making true friends. as well as the constant search for redemption on the way.

C H A R A C T E R N O T E S:

-My concept of Black Widow is mostly going to be inspired by that of her portrayal in the MCU, as well as somewhat by the #6 issue 2004 run, although I would like to think that I also have my own twists and additions to the character which will become more apparent through RP than this sheet.

- To start with I plan on this version of Natasha to be a rather isolated and haunted person, who through her usual charismatic and confident veneer is cut off from everyone around her.

- For equipment I plan on Widow to make use of her fancy gauntlets with many pouches that can fit in a variety of useful tools, including her Widow's Bite projectile. Along with this she will have a belt that is rigged with explosives, and likely some kind of gun and bladed weapon.

- Due to the Super-Soldier serum this version of Black Widow is clearly more 'superhuman' than her MCU counterpart, likely bringing her more in line with the likes of MCU Captain America when it comes to capabilities with Strength and Endurance. Whether everyone going through the Red Room got this or it was selective to a few operatives could be something left to be determined until it is a relevant part of the story.

- Natasha is likely still rather quick to kill on a mission, although I plan for her to become more reluctant as time goes on maybe even eventually developing her own 'no killing rule', not that anyone would take her seriously with that.

She-Hulk

Jennifer Sue Walters Avenger/Lawyer New York/Avengers HQ
C H A R A C T E R C O N C E P T:

"Stop calling me Jen! It's She-Hulk now! The Sensational She-Hulk! Famous Hero and Avenger! Also stop looking at me like that I'm here to help not smash!"

Jennifer grew up in the city of Lose Angeles, California, with her parents Morris Walters and Elaine Banner Walters. In her childhood she was very close with her cousin Bruce and would practically spend all of her free time with him, she recalls those moments where they would just sit and read with each other or go out and get a snack with great nostalgia. From a young age she had an interest in law, partly inspired by her father who was had a long and successful career in law enforcement. However she was torn, on the one hand she would have liked to follow in her fathers footsteps but on the other she also had dreams of being a dancer. After long talks with her parents they settled that they could compromise and really focus on pursuing law while keeping dancing as a hobby.

After the passing of her mother in a car accident, Jennifer found herself growing even closer to both her father and her cousin Bruce, pretty much relying on them to keep her stable in times of grief. Jennifer initially attended university at UCLA where she studied and graduated in Law. Unfortunately, not long after starting her career in Law she took on a client that was planning on snitching on his own gang in hopes of getting a favorable deal with the court. This led to Jennifer getting shot by another member of this clients gang who wanted to stop the hearings by any means. If it was not for the intervention by her cousin Bruce via a blood transfusion Jennifer likely would have died. In fact if it was just any regular blood transfusion she still might not have survived... But this was no regular blood transfusion, Bruce's gamma radiated blood was now pumped through Jennifer's body just as it did his and as a result, She-Hulk was born.

Initially it was a lot to get used to. Luckily she had her cousin and her father to support and guide her still. Bruce was of particularly good at guiding Jennifer in getting used to her knew transformation as She-Hulk, utilizing his experience as the Hulk to train her in how to handle this newfound power. Jennifer would first take up crime fighting as a local stint, however eventually she would go on to join up with the Avengers and had been a loyal and present member ever since. She likes to think of herself as being a 'staple' of the Avengers team and takes great pride in the work they do. As well as the privilege's that the position affords...

P L O T ( S ) & G O A L ( S ):

I have always enjoyed She-Hulk, but after reading Dan Slott's run with her I found myself growing a real soft spot for the character. Although I don't really plan to get 'meta' at all in any moment throughout the RP like that run did, I will likely take some of my characterization from that run, especially that part where she is very reluctant and embarrassed to just be Jennifer Walters. This She-Hulk thinks of herself as She-Hulk first and foremost and through the story hopefully will come to terms with being Jennifer Walters. Down the line I also have plans of potentially having to struggle with a lurking but growing 'savage' side, perhaps making it like her grey hulk form to clearly distinguish between her usual green self.

The plan is for She-Hulk to be another roaming character. I would like her to be a reliable and regular member of the Avengers, perhaps even a founding member of the team or someone who joined near it's onset. She is likely overly interested in jumping on any possible Avengers mission so that she can do as much good as possible. Also she could support the Avengers in any legal disputes they may run into and be a bit of a paperwork machine. Also if the player of Brawn is interested she could also keep her eye on his exploits as a sort of big sister figure.

C H A R A C T E R N O T E S:

- Jennifer pretty much never returns to her regular form. In fact she hates it and only does so extremely unwillingly, more likely on accident than not in fact.

- She is very defensive and protective of her cousin Bruce and other gamma irradiated individuals.

- Has little to no experience with her 'savage' She-Hulk form which is indeed present. In fact she may not even be aware that is exists, which may make its growing influence more dangerous.

- Although coming across as hot headed and enthusiastic about things she is also rather shy and easily embarrassed. Also extremely self conscious.

SUPERMAN

KALEL/CALVIN ELLIS PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES JUSTICE LEAGUE WASHINGTON DC
C H A R A C T E R C O N C E P T:

Born to Jorel and Lara in the science capital on Vathlo Island on Krypton, baby Kalel was sent to Earth to escape Krypton's destruction. Found by the poor but kind Ellis family, who christened him Calvin, he was raised to stand up for himself no matter the odds, and to fight for what's right. When his star-spanning Kryptonian powers emerged under Earth's yellow sun, he became Superman, champion of the oppressed and defender of peace around the world.

But as Superman reached great heights as the world's greatest hero, Calvin Ellis began to chart his own path as a journalist and community activist. Superman went on to have many adventures across the world and the galaxy while Ellis became known as a man who was in touch with the American people and what they needed. He soon found himself running for, and winning local office in Metropolis. Like his alter ego, he found that he could leap to high office in a single bound. In 2020, Calvin Ellis ran for president of the United States and won by a razor thin majority of the popular vote, handily winning the electoral college.

Now as both Superman and President of the United States, Kalel must walk a fine line between implementing change without force, to continue to use his powers and office to the best of his abilities, and to be a representative of truth, justice, and the humanitarian way.

P L O T ( S ) & G O A L ( S ):

1. "E Pluribus Unum"

When a sudden death of the supreme court has the ability to swing the high court in either direction of decades, the Ellis Administration works behind the scenes with the Senate to see their successor be appointed to the position. Meanwhile Superman goes to battle against The 100, a secessionist milita with designs on doing as much harm as possible.

2. "Pax Americana"

President Ellis deals with threats both foreign and domestic as he travels to New York for an address of the United Nations. While President Ellis rubs shoulders with heads of states, kings, and dictators, Superman finds himself in China. What appears to be a natural disaster is revealed to be something darker and more sinister beating at the heart of the matter.

The newsreels play in Wesley Dodds mind. It's the year 2021 and Wesley, retired from the superhero game for over sixty years, cannot seem to die. He approaches his one hundred and twelfth birthday on this planet still as physically fit and mentally sound as a man half his age. The Sandman may be in his past, but he can't he put it to bed.

And now, a great tragedy stirs him out of retirement. When a former friend is in need of avenging, Wesley puts on the suit, tie, and gas mask and once more ventures into the night.

P L O T ( S ) & G O A L ( S ):

1. "In Dreams"

Wesley finds himself back in action when a estranged friend close to him dies suddenly under mysterious circumstances. As he starts to investigate his friend's life in the years since they last spoke, he discovers a twisted subculture dedicated to the fetishization of The JSA and the heroes of the era, the Sandman included.

2. "Goodnight Sweetheart"

People across Manhattan are falling asleep and not waking up. As reports of a new drug called "Coma" filter through the news, Wesley begins to investigate the trail. What seems a simple criminal enterprise begins to show signs of something deeper and more magical. Someone or something has their hands on a powerful artifact, an artifact with endless consequences.

Superboy was born in a glass womb with a syringe and petri dish for parents. He was the firstborn son of CADMUS International, a rapidly rising conglomerate that got its start as a biopharmaceutical company at the cutting edge of genetic engineering and genome editing. The ambitions of their founder, Dr. Paul Westfield, stretched far further than medicine, however. He was engrossed with the metahuman phenomena and Superman in-particular, pouring his heart and soul into unlocking the alien's genetic potential. That obsession bore fruit and it would come to be called Superboy. His 'birth' radically altered the company's direction. They hired teams of PR consultants, marketing experts and social media gurus to design the Superboy's persona from the ground up. His appearance, personality and very being were all shaped for one, specific mission: to sell the public- and national governments- on homegrown superheroes.

Four months later, Superboy is a household name. He has one of the largest social media followings of any public superhero. He's appeared on late night TV, national news, and even a certain comedian and DMT enthusiast's podcast. They've got him on soda ads, pajamas and charity campaigns. A drone-based film crew ensures all of his heroics are publicized, from the planned events to the spontaneous battles with low-grade villains. He's even had team-ups with the Avengers! Rumor has it there's a documentary series in the works that'll reveal the real, grungy underbelly of what its like to be a superhero-- on CADMUS's exclusive streaming service, of course.

For all the power, fame and wealth at his fingertips, Superboy couldn't be more dissatisfied. He's no idiot- he knows he's a product from a test tube meant to push an agenda. CADMUS has him shaking hands and signing autographs when he oughta be helping people- Superman doesn't do media tours. They might call him family, might show him their twisted version of appreciation, but he doesn't have parents. Can't have real relationships. He yearns for...something more.

Superboy was my old ID on the Guild for a reason: I absolutely adore this character. As a real young kid Superman was always my favorite superhero, and he was strangely both something to aspire toward and yet too perfect to ever attain. Then along came Superboy, the living representation of that idea- and I was hooked.

This iteration of the character is my modernized take on the character, shifting him to be the closest real world analogue we have to the superhero: influencers and celebrities. It’s a take on the genre we’ve seen before- The Boys is an obvious inspiration- but not in these One Universe games. I’m hoping to tackle some big capital-T-themes this time around: all the expected SciFi trappings on artificially created lifeforms, corporate power and influencer culture. Give it a spicing of coming-of-age teen drama and you’ve got yourself a decently meaty story.

Don’t let any of that distract you from the hitting things and all the shitty one-liners.

My biggest hope is that somebody comes along and applied for the the big, blue Boy Scout, but I made sure the concept could stand on its own two legs without Superman as a player character- all it really demands is that he exists and is somewhat notable as a figure. I’m eternally down as fuck for an eventual forming of the Teen Titans or some other group of young fuckups as that’s the environment the character thrives in the most, but I’ll be more than happy with the occasional team up. For this beginning stretch of the game Superboy is undoubtedly a ROAMING character, but I’ll be running through a Cadmus plot in his solo stints to develop him as a character and there’s a very good chance that could balloon into a full blown plot, turning him into a DRIVING character for at least one arc.
