Bowyn rolled his eyes as Arn questioned whether refusing Rue’s offer to buy him something was impolite. “Arn, if you’re uncomfortable with a lady paying your way just say so.” Bowyn said, his tone flippant and teasing. “Politeness is a waste of time. Just be honest, direct, and anyone who holds that against you isn’t worth the time.” The winter fairy had no interest in playing games of etiquette, it wasn’t worth the energy. Certainly not now, not during a war when time and energy were precious and anything less than honesty would make it difficult to trust any ally.

He offered a small and hollow smile as he accepted the clothing from Rue. The clothes were new and clean and felt much nicer than his own. He once again wondered why Rue was here, Rue who was kind without a second thought and who he couldn’t imagine as someone who craved pain and violence. But he had already asked her why she was here, so he didn’t ask it again, even though he wanted to, instead he reminded himself that she would answer that when she was ready to. So Bowyn followed her and Arn to the inn where Rue again offered generosity without hesitation as she rented a couple of rooms there.

He didn’t say anything about how uncomfortable the thought of sleeping indoors made him feel. At least outside, somewhere deep in a forest, despite whatever dangers forests could hold, there weren’t walls closing in and a single door that provided the only escape. A forest always had many paths of escape if needed, they had the endless sky to remind him of better days and to comfort him. But he said nothing about that because he doubted Rue, or Arn for that matter, would prefer to feel the hard ground beneath them over a soft bed. Soon enough they’d be in the middle of a great war and he didn’t have it in him to try to deny his companions a few more days of comfort.

After following Rue to the rented room he found it not too different from what he expected; a modest and cramped room, and a place he quickly itched to leave. He looked over to Arn who had wanted somewhere away from prying ears to speak. “So what’s the big secret, Arn? Are you actually fifty pixies hiding in a dwarf outfit?” He asked, as he wondered what it had been that the somewhat odd and mysterious dwarf had been keeping from them.

Equipment: Nabarra's usual equipment (minus the billhook, stashed behind the bar), Cat mask, poncho.

The flirting did nothing but make Nabarra tense up. It seemed impossible, considering how tense she was already, but there she was. Her hands were under the table, clutching at cloth. Her teeth were at breaking point. The cut in her hip seared as she shifted in her seat. But that had nothing to do with this, right?

If the flirting was not bad enough, the group seemed to somehow have cottoned on to her injury, almost tip-toeing around the idea that she needed an apothecary. One had the nerve to insinuate her weakness for it, and another even used a pet name for her. The nerve. She was looking down, avoiding meeting others’ eyes.

”Aiko,” she said. Her teeth were gritted, her voice strained. ”My being alone in a fuckin’ bed. Is fuckin’ not. Your thing. To... let... me bloody have. And Yuka,” she looked at the lioness. ”You act fuckin’ playful, but let me bloody well tell you. If you fuckin’ call me that again. I will snap you. In the least bloody enjoyable way you can fuckin’ imagine.”

If the room were not so noisy, her sigh would have been audible. You’re a fuckin’ moron, she told herself. Being surrounded by people with a genuine drive to achieve a common goal had her out of her element. Typically, when expressing revolutionary ideals, all she encountered were milquetoast cowards; those people who wanted to talk about change, not strive for it. Those people she needed to stir into action using anger. But these people were different, and that anger was going astray.

”Anyway. A walk sounds far fuckin’ better than this shit’ole,” she said, starting to stand, ”I don’t fuckin’ need a potion though. The fuck are you talking abo-” she trailed off… and fell. She hit the floor with a hard thud. When her head hit the ground, her mask slid back, putting her face on display for all. Beyond the obvious harsh dark-elven features, it was plain that she was burning up. Her skin was clammy and slick with sweat, and her breathing was ragged.

The pretty winter fairy lass offered him such a wide beautiful smile that Arn could not help but mimic the action. It looked weird on his face though. Dwarves don’t tend to smile and only show their mirth in rowdy guffaws and loud chortles. His new discovery that was spreading across his face was short lived however by Bowyns well aimed retort.

“Arn, if you’re uncomfortable with a lady paying your way just say so.”

The suggestion confused the young soldier. He had not implied he felt any sort of awkwardness or misgivings at a lady purchasing him items. Despite the dwarven race strong affinity for rules and regulations steeped in custom and ritual, equality could be seen as men and women served side by side locking shields or forging them.

He was about to reply that he was just trying to follow Bowyn’s previous statement regarding throwing money around and accepting gifts from people he hardly knew. Did that rule only apply to the dwarf? Arn knew that dealing with other cultures would lead to misunderstandings but he had hoped he could be a quick study. Based on the tone in the white haired lad’s tone, he was not doing so good. So, instead of voicing his confusion he just gave the fairy an understanding nod.

“Politeness is a waste of time. Just be honest, direct, and anyone who holds that against you isn’t worth the time.”

The frown of confusion only deepened on the young dwarf’s face as Bowyn continued. How was politeness a waste of time? He felt Rue deserved being addressed with consideration. She was after all a lady. The other thing that confused him was that he felt he WAS being direct and honest. He had told them no lie. He had not offered any hidden motives. Dwarves prided themselves in their honesty and logical outlook. In fact, it was this very ethic that prevented any emotional damage from the blunt young fairy.

“You are correct about being direct and honest Bowyn. However, I disagree with you in the matter of politeness. This sentiment is the bare minimum of consideration for a fellow sentient being. If one can’t even endeavor to do that then the higher requirements of respect, friendship, and love would be harder to achieve.” The medic shrugged. “That is of course, my own view. You need not agree or share it. Nor I do I have to do the same to yours though knowing it is appreciated.”

The dwarf followed the pair of Winter fairies as he had done from their arrival, a few steps behind. He felt that those onlookers would bypass him to gawk at the attractive pair before him. Why look at a short stocky man when they could gaze upon the ivory like skin and snowy hair. The eyes of both were very stark too. Rue’s held a glimmer of joy that was contagious. In the same manner, the darkness that inhabited Bowy’s hues was haunting. There were scars there that matched or were greater than those in the lad’s back.

The Inn by the Sea was no fancy or impressive building. After all, it was meant to house travelers or sea farers. The walls were sturdy and based on the ruckus at the tavern area, the drinks were stout. The young soldier did not say anything when Rue paid for their rooms. He wanted to show the fiery ice lad that he had not issues with being gifted and definitely by a lady. Indeed, Arn made it a point to show his gratitude. “Thank you for the kind gesture miss Rue. You must allow me to treat you both.” He looked in Bowyn’s direction to show he meant to include the lad. “To the next meal, whatever that maybe. I intend to eat after our conversation. Now that my stomach has settled from the trip, I feel famished.” A polite smile was offered.

Again he followed the fairies who in turn followed the Innkeeper upstairs towards their room. The white haired lad would be surprised to know that Arn also enjoyed the outside. Having been a soldier for decades, there were very few times he had been the pleasure of a bed. Even now, his pack held his sleeping blanket and pad. The dwarf had always pondered looking at the sky overhead. The cold environment of the mountains sometimes lent themselves for skies so clear it seemed as if you were looking at a glass ceiling.

Walking behind the pair, the young medic could not detect the tensing of the winter fairy lad. Now that he thought about it, Rue had only paid for two rooms….It was only logical that the two males would sleep in the same room. Had this been done on purpose by the lovely lass? Of the three, she seemed to the be the most cheery. Was she trying to force interaction between the two boys? Arn shook his head. He was overthinking this. The winter lady probably did it out of habit. What would Bowyn think? Perhaps he should rent his own room. But would this be an affront to Rue who as so happy to pay for their berthing? Again, the dwarf shook his head as if it was being plagued by mosquitoes.

If he had known that Bowyn had been considerate enough to swallow his own discomfort in favor of those of his companions, a smile would have appeared on the young soldier’s face. His gut told him that Bowyn’s behavior was a shield to keep others out and to protect himself from further pain. This meant that the pain the young lad had already experienced was so great that there was need to prevent any further intrusion. The trio finally arrived at the room. He followed the two fairies and the wolf in.

The beast was so well behaved that it deserved praise. There was almost a humanoid intelligence. Except for the odd following of it’s nose, Moony seemed to be quite at home indoors. At least, to the dwarf who did not know him. He figured a wild animal would be scared or at the least cautious but perhaps the happy attitude of Rue was felt by the wolf. After all, it was believed that animals could sense feelings. No sooner had they all settled down and the door closed behind them, than Bowyn asked directly again.

“So what’s the big secret, Arn? Are you actually fifty pixies hiding in a dwarf outfit?”

Arn shook his head. “No secret Bowyn. At least, nothing as comical as what you suggest.” The young dwarf offered both faries a slight smile to show he was trying to be relaxed and open with them. He proceeded to tell them about his new found parentage and the mission he had been given. “The reason why I withheld information was due to not being too sure if I could trust you. However, my gut is telling me that in this time, we need to learn to trust.” He shrugged. “So now you know, I apologize if my mistrust offended you.” He waited. Wondering what sort of reaction his story would have from them.

“...please don’t kill anyone”

Time: Evening
Location: Yenworth Port

A look of concern painted across Astra's face when Myra proudly crouched low on the dock. She couldn't even be mad at the girl for following her guidance so literally.

“Myra.” Astra forced a smile.

Seeing Astra smiling, Myra smiled back happily at her, thinking it would be okay if she was that low. “Well, I was meaning to leave you on the boat...” The moment Myra heard Astra say this, her smile immediately disappeared, giving place to a disappointed and sad expression as she went back to her normal posture. She was almost walking back inside the boat when Astra continued. “...but I guess you can tag along if you keep hidden. Come on, do that neat trick the ugly lamplights do.”

Hidden. A word that Myra not only knew but a concept she could perform really well.

Myra nodded excitedly towards Astra as her innocent smile immediately returned to her face. When she exited the boat again, she looked to Astra as she used her camouflage. At first, she was only slightly transparent but became completely invisible once the two made eye contact. Astra gave a charming smirk and wink to add some positive reinforcement. Naivety. Does it make you cute? Somewhat. Does it make you easy to manipulate? Absolutely.

“Good job, friend!” Her eyes then darted to Vrexen who had taken a seat on the boat. “I'll be right back with your clothes, so just keep watch of the boat… and please don't kill anyone.” She waved at the lonely red-faced demon.

Once Ismael felt the Troll fall he flicked over to the other troll to witness it rise and get impaled by a tree. Ismael started breathing in slowly as the lightning on him slowly disappeared. Ismael looked over to Annya to see her get up, as he sighed in some relief as she didn't seem too messed up. However the thing that excited Ismael was that they were leaving the forest of terrible things and monsters. This was not Ismael's first time being in a port city, the cries of birds, the laughter of children, the clattering and movement of people and larger vehicles, and the smell of the sea. Sure a few things here and there were different, like carts are replacing cars, and the ships only have sails, yet it feels more like a port in a 3rd world country rather than in a first world country. The bustle of people trying to sell goods, the children running about every now and again one looked like they are eyeing them up like a potential pickpocket target. Ismael feels like he never left earth.

Once the reached their inn, Ismael's first reaction was to slowly take notice of his surroundings, first what was near the inn, then who normally frequented the inn, then what was the actual upkeep on the inn. Ismael wanted to be sure that where he was, wasn't an obvious den of scum. As once they had rooms they all waited as Annya left to get somethings. Ismael was happy Annya bought an extra room for the Girls, it would allow for some sense of normality. After all, there was so much that happened that something as simple as your own bed could make someone much more comfortable. Ismael was relaxing he had a much more simple time with his upkeep than he was normally used to. After all, he had nothing really to worry about. But still he needed to make sure he was alright still, so Ismael took off his boots to check his feet, trench foot is a killer that can find anyone who doesn't even notice. And in a new world with his understanding of how far their knowledge had came in certain regards, he wished not to lose a foot to shoes that he didn't trust in yet, And socks are gonna be a real killer based on how much would it cost to get such things. Yet he was also worried about that move he did against that Troll, it was an effective move, yet he was worried his body might be feeling it soon as that was quite a bit of exertion on himself and that kick could have messed him up more than he realized it. Yet after he inspected himself he was happy to see he preformed that well.

Ismael grabbed a bit of his food and ate as he waited for them to start doing something, now was time for rest, so Ismael would do just that. As a little while later Annya made it back and suggesting that they did some shopping, Ismael wasn't against it. Getting equipment would be a big help, after all, he wished not to fight with his fist forever. Ismael had also an intrest in shopping with Kharne, would he be much more of a stick in the mud, or is he able to know when to play.

“They took them off to … in the woods”

Time: Evening
Location: Yenworth
Amas: 90 Spent

It hadn't taken long for Astra and Myra to enter the market square. The once busy area was beginning to die down with many seeking a tavern or an inn.

While it was definitely better than when she entered the cave-city on Daka, Myra was still a bit uncomfortable due to the amount of different sounds and smells as she followed Astra through the market square. On one hand, Myra was incredibly curious about a lot of stuff that was being displayed on the market square, but on the other hand, the amount of smells and noises were still a bit too much for Myra's enhanced senses, disorientating her a little bit. Thanks to that, she made sure not only to stay close to Astra but to give small taps on her shoulder from time to time, not only to make sure Astra knew she was still following her but for Myra herself to not get distracted and lose herself.

The two of them made a beeline to the Odds and Ends stall run by a merman sitting in a barrel of water. The lamplight overhead gave notice to his shimmering blue scales decorating his forearms that poked out from his dark green tunic.

“Welcome to the Odds and Ends of Yenworth! You’ll find the best items for the lowest amount of amas.” The merman greeted happily despite being a bit wary of the Dark Elf. Astra didn’t resemble a soldier and appeared to be alone but dark elves just held a harsh stigma that many of the other races couldn’t look past.

“I am looking for clothes for my two friends. They actually lost their clothes, if you can imagine that.” Astra’s eyes wandered across the clothing that was fairly priced. “I wonder how Myra would look in a dress like that?” She mused as she eyed the red outfit

“Lost their clothes?” The merman was curious and prepared to hear a tale that would include heavy intoxication.

While a merman wasn't something Myra saw every day, having only seen a few of them by far in the water, he did seem to be friendly enough since he greeted Astra excitedly.

Still in her camouflage, Myra approached, looking curiously at the fish-man as she studied him. While she knew she should be careful, she was confident in her camouflage, and being the first time she saw a fish-person from this close.

“Yeah, they took 'em off to go…” Astra clapped her hands five times to be discreet. [color=plum]“...out in the woods.”[/color Meanwhile, Myra couldn't help but try and pinch one of the scales on the merman's arm.

“Ah!” He slapped his arm where his scale was pinched assuming a fly had pricked him.

Myra was intrigued to notice that the fish-man's scales were really just like a fish. Even the texture and the feeling were the same. What she wasn't expecting though was the fish-man's reaction, suddenly slapping the place where Myra had pinched, making her quickly pull back her hand as she gave a small jump back, alarmed in a low stance. Fortunately, it seemed like the fish-man didn't really see her or anything, instead was just reacting to the small pinch.

Astra raised an eyebrow in wonder from the merman's reaction before she made a low gasp. Myra. With a gulp, Astra grabbed two outfits from the rack.

Then when they all finished up, they couldn't find their clothes.” Her attempt to get the man's attention worked so far. “I'm betting some shitty young light elf ran off with their stuff. Oh, and I'll buy these two right now. Gotta be quick before my dear Myra does something else she might regret.”

As Astra continued to talk though, getting a few of the strange, colored pieces of fabric, Myra noticed how Astra called her name, probably discreetly trying to scold her for what she did.

Quietly, she made sure to give a few steps away from the fish-man, touching Astra's back with her tail once, to indicate she would behave herself.

“90 amas.”

“Easy. Here you are.” Astra provided the amas and the merman bagged the outfits. “You know where I can get some rest.” Astra asked the clerk who pointed toward a large tavern/inn.

“Right there. Good price too.”

“Perfect.” And with that Astra started heading toward the inn. She'd get something to eat, get a comfy room for Myra and herself, and get some shut-eye.

“They lick people after they lick their crotches…”

Time: Evening
Location: Yenworth
Amas: 20 Spent

While Myra was a bit sad to see how many of the round shinies Astra had given the fish-man for the colored pieces of fabric, she was also curious about what those pieces of fabric were and why Astra had bought them. The pretty, vibrant colors were undeniably pretty, just like the ones she saw back on the papers she got from the dark-skins' city when searching for the 'map'. Despite her curiosity, since Myra was already scolded she decided it would be better if she behaved herself, lest she wanted to be left on the boat like Vrexen…

The two entered the inn filled with people and conversation. Astra held the door open behind her so Myra could sneak in. The female rabbit demi-human behind the counter stared at Astra with a bit of fright. On the other hand, Astra fearlessly initiated conversation.

“Hi! Looking for a room for me and my boyfriend. It's our anniversary and I want to… well… It would be nice if our room was a bit away from other folk y'know.” Astra's face portrayed faint embarrassment.

“Uh…” The woman at the desk made an uneasy face that transitioned into a smile. “Yes, we have a double-bed room for 20 amas… And it's in the back corner of the hall.” The woman winked.

Thanks to Astra having held the door open for a bit, Myra was able to sneak inside the building without problem.
While the building was definitely smaller than the huge place she and Vrexen entered back on the dark-skins' cave-town, it was still a relatively big one. The style both inside and outside were also completely different from the ones in the cave-town.
Curiously, she began looking around as Astra talked with the rabbit woman, who, for some reason, seemed to be a bit alarmed. It reminded Myra a bit of how wild rabbits reacted when they saw or met her by chance when she wasn't hunting.

As she walked inside the inn, Myra was careful to behave herself, not wanting to get scolded again. This time, she wasn't trying to pinch anyone, even though she was curious about the rabbit woman's ears, or doing anything that could draw attention to her presence, at least not knowingly or on purpose...
Due to how dusty the streets were outside, Myra didn't notice, but she was leaving very noticeable footsteps behind her as she walked inside the inn, much for Astra's dismay.

“Easy. Here you are. We should be out by dawn or so.” Astra handed the woman 20 amas, who recoiled after taking it. Astra wasn’t sure what the problem was.

“Excuse me, but you’re tracking dirt. Can you take your… What is...” The woman was confused as she noticed the shape of the prints. “Do you have a pet with you?” Astra looked down at the prints, but was already sure who they belonged to without positively identifying them. You are definitely challenging me… And you will pay me back for this.

“By Halastra, no! I hate pets. All pets. They lick people after they lick their crotches… Truly disgusting.” Astra made a sickly face showing her aversion. She was handed the keys to the room as she continued. “Trust me, if I find the creature that’s dirtying up your establishment, I’ll kick ‘em out myself.”

Myra watched as once again, much for her dismay, Astra handed over a bunch of shinies away to the rabbit woman. Just as she grabbed the shinies though, the rabbit woman suddenly called Astra, pointing to the ground behind them, revealing the dirty footsteps Myra was leaving behind, much to her own surprise.

Having not realized that before and being too late to try to clean the already dirty floor, Myra did the best she could to wipe off the dust from her feet, trying to avoid any future problems inside the inn.

Sophie had fallen asleep not too long after getting on the carriage. It had been night when she had been taken after all, and with all that happened, who wouldn't have needed some sleep? She began to stir as Rosaria's voice reached her ears and yawned, slowly sitting up on her palms and glancing around. She blinked a few times as her reality adjusted. This really isn't a dream. Caelan was still sleeping to the right of her. She glanced at him and smiled slightly, patting his head. Her gaze searched for Jomari with worry and thankfully he seemed okay. Rosaria's words never quite registered but it did dawn on her that she had an important question for her and her butler, or perhaps even the girl with the pretty cloak could answer it. But wait... what was it again? Sophie felt too groggy to remember the wording.

She suddenly felt something small smack her finger. "Sophie. You ignored her question, Sophie! Bad!" Sophie looked down to see the pixie from before hitting her hand with a pocky stick with all her might.

"Oh no I forgot you came with me... I am so sorry. You must be so far from your family now."Sophie said sadly. The poor pixie must have gotten scared and jumped in her backpack. She was certain they couldn't go back there right now. The idea that she had just abducted a creature from its home was just awful.

"No. Sophie. I am an exiled pixie! My family can die for all I care! I have nowhere to go and you have food. I demand to stay with you!" The little red-haired fairy seemed absolutely passionate with her words and she balled her fists and gave Sophie a glare. She turned and pointed the pocky stick, pink coating side forward, toward Rosaria, Aurora, and Nuallán."Big elves! Dumb!"Her wings fluttered excessively as she made her way into the air to see more eye to eye with the three. "I will fight you if you do not let me eat!" Luckily for them all, the fiesty pixie made her way back on to Sophie's backpack to sit down. Sophie giggled at her as she reminded her of her brother when he was angry. Then the question she needed dawned her.

"Oh wait..."Sophie interrupted out loud as she finally recalled her question, "Excuse me, everyone. But how does time pass here? Can you send me back to that exact moment or will my family be worrying over my absence?"

For a second it seemed like things might be going smoothly, the demihumans seemed open to leaving, even presenting a couple of agreeable options. He would’ve thought that for a dark elf who was in a crowded tavern in a city hostile to her race, keeping a low profile would be the obvious choice. Instead, Nabarra seemed intent on antagonizing both Aiko and Yuka. It wasn’t that he expected a dark elf to have the same level of civility as his own people did, but it seemed that even the offer of a place to rest or a silly nickname was enough to cause the other elf to lose her temper. Bringing the quick-tempered dark elf to a tavern to drink seemed like a major oversight on his part, not leaving when she hopped up on the rooftops for a fight at the beginning of the day felt like an even bigger mistake. But mistakes were his forte and he was resigned to live with them. So he said nothing and shook his head a bit in annoyance at petty arguments. Then, just when it seemed like they were all about to be leaving the tavern for some much-needed fresh air, Nabarra hit the floor with a thud. So much for keeping a low profile.

The sound of an elf hitting the wooden tavern was more than enough to draw attention. Nabarra’s mask no longer hid her identity and muttered speech around him signaled that this had been noticed by several others. He stood and quickly removed the cat mask from himself so as not to be mistaken for a dark elf, and noted the labored breathing from Nabarra. She wasn’t dead, yet, but certainly in need of a potion or two if they managed their way out of the tavern. This time leaving Nabarra behind didn’t occur to him as an option, she was an ally now, and one who was injured and currently unable to fight.

“That offer of heading to your room still available?” He asked with a glance towards Aiko. He wasn’t sure how the other two were going to react, but Aiko at least put out a very calm aura. Out of the two of them, they were the one he’d guess to be level-headed about everything. Yuka on the other hand was a wild card, chaos incarnate really, but he hoped to Solaras she’d still be on their side, even if only to satisfy her curiosity. He’d seen her ability to work up a crowd up to a near-riot earlier and didn’t want to have to deal with that as well."Either of you want to help carry her out of here before things get ugly? I'd owe you favor." He added before he crouched down and snapped his fingers in front of Nabarra's face to see if she'd just snap out of it.

As Arn spoke, Bowyn struggled to keep his focus away from the closed door and the way it had made the room even smaller. In some ways, it was a blessing that the bombshell Arn dropped was unexpected enough to snap Bowyn’s full focus back to the dwarf. Arn was a prince, the only prince of Ironhold, and he had lied to both of them. Not an outright lie, but one of omission, and the semantics of that mattered very little to Bowyn. He had liked Arn better when he’d thought him a common soldier and medic, a simple dwarf who couldn’t grasp sarcasm, and who blushed when Rue smiled. That Arn had not been dangerous, he’d been easily understood, and most importantly he was someone useful.

Royals, however, were anything but useful; not for his goals, not for getting as close to violence as he wanted to be. Monarchs wouldn’t be on the front lines; not with hands too soft for hard work, not with lives they thought of as too important to risk death. What would happen once Arn found the elven princess? Would they sit around planning out the war from a far-off and safe location? Sending others to die for them? And then where would he and Rue be? Kept to the sidelines and used only for their healing magic until exhaustion burned them out? Bowyn wouldn’t let that become his fate. He expected little more from the likes of elves and wasn’t sure what to expect of Arn knowing the dwarf had his own legacy and kingdom to think of now. Maybe Arn wasn’t like the whole rotten lot of them just yet, but if you handed a man the world on a silver platter eventually they were going to believe they deserved it, and from there it wasn’t a stretch to see others as beneath them. Royals were dangerous, to be in the company of a prince was not a good thing.

Bowyn had been away from his secluded village long enough to hear how monarchies operated. The flower kingdom had let their heir carry out a murder spree against its own subjects, and when the prince had finished, he walked free with a mere slap on the wrist. The most extreme example, but one that had cemented his views on how cruel and unjust the royal families of Avalia were. Maybe an upbringing away from that life had prevented the worst of royal traits from taking hold in Arn, but it wasn’t something Bowyn would gamble his life on. He couldn’t trust Arn, and he would have to keep a close eye on him until he could figure out if it was worth it to continue traveling with the dwarven prince.

“Well, excuse me for not bowing, your majesty. I would’ve preferred you a flock of pixies.” Bowyn found himself unable to hide the bitterness in his tone. “And after you find this elven princess, what are your plans then? Form an alliance and return home? What use do you have in mind for a couple of winter fae? A place within the dwarven army perhaps? Or maybe offer us up to the elf as a gift?”

The young dwarf tried to read the expression on the two fairies as he revealed what had been revealed to him not a day before. He did not know what he expected but he knew that carrying the secret was too much for him even if it meant breaking protocol and endangering his mission. But then again, what was his mission? All that had been revealed to him was his parentage and the need for him to meet with the Light Elven Princess Annya Olsen.

He did not even know the contents of the letter that was in his hand. The young medic had obeyed fully like a true soldier. No questions asked. Why had he done that? Was the training all dwarves underwent so ingrained in his psyche that he could not help but follow the rules and regulations? Or had it been a way for him to conveniently fool himself that he had no choice? There was a sense of duty yes, but he could have performed that duty just as well doing the job he was trained to do instead of trying to take a crash course on being a royal prince.

So why had he decided to take this mission? Was he trying to gain the respect and prove himself worthy to a father he never knew and a King who he had never met? If that was the case, then he was indeed a fool. It almost felt as if he had revealed his identity to the two winter fairies as a way to hear what they had to say. His lack of social interactions other than those required in the healing and saving of patients was becoming painfully obvious.

The young would be prince could not have blamed Bowyn for his mistrust at his apparent duplicity. Right now, even Arn did not know who he was. Somehow the revelation of the blood that ran through is veins had disrupted the solid foundation that Thur had managed to build as his father. The roots that ran as deep as mountains now felt more brittle than dried clay. The young dwarf’s eyes reflected nothing but confusion and in small amounts, some sort of plea.

The medic in him would have laughed however at any assumptions that he would stay far from the battle. He had not earned his nick name by being passive and letting other fight his battles. Death’s Thorn was a call sign he had earned by literally pulling a victim from death’s jaws. One would actually say he was recklessly and foolishly brave. Running head long into a barrage of enemy fire or where battle was the fiercest to save people.

What the white haired lad got right however, was that Arn would not willingly enable or assist the fairy in any action that would cause death or harm, even if it was to the dark elves who had so willingly cut the neck of his step brother just a night ago. This stance had earned him much mistrust and ridicule amongst his own race, so it would not be so strange to received that from someone else.

“Well, excuse me for not bowing, your majesty. I would’ve preferred you a flock of pixies.”

A relieved chuckle began to escape Arn’s mouth as he thought hat Bowyn was being his usually irreverent self. He even managed to jokingly exclaim “No bow necessary Bowyn. I wish my secret was about a flock of pixies too…” he suddenly caught the look of distrust and judgment on his companion’s icy blue eyes. The brows on the young dwarf's face became furrowed in consternation. What was wrong? Why was Bowyn looking at him as if he was the enemy? The young medics brown eyes moved from the lad’s face to that of Rue’s hoping he did not find the same distrust in them.

Had he been wrong in revealing the secret? He had hoped that coming clean would actually elicit trust from the two winter fairies but it seemed to have done just the opposite. Apparently, his judgment was terrible. Not a good sign for somebody that might be a ruler some day….if they all survived to see that day come to pass that is.

“And after you find this elven princess, what are your plans then? Form an alliance and return home? What use do you have in mind for a couple of winter faery? A place within the dwarven army perhaps? Or maybe offer us up to the elf as a gift?”

The bitterness in the questions of Bowyn fired at him stung like actual wounds. His mouth opened to defend himself to put his companions at ease but only managed to blubber a few unintelligible sounds. The young soldier blinked his eyes rapidly as if trying to focus his thoughts. Finally, he clasped his mouth close, took a deep breath with his eyes closed and then after a few breaths he opend his eyes and the calm Arn was back.

“Bowyn, I truly apologize for having offended in you. It was not my intention. I revealed the information in a selfish desire to have others share the burden that it weighed in my heart. If you permit me to answer your questions. I think we all have vehemently established that I have no idea what I will say or do when I meet the princess. That is the quandary how we met. I hope that what is inside this letter can help with that.” He held up the letter that had been give to him and shrugged.

“Perhaps that is a foolish faith to place on written word. I am afraid that returning home may not be an option though based on what I think many of us saw advertised on the sky alliances would not be out of the question.” The young medic took another long breath. He needed to quell the raging storm of emotions in his soul.

He truly did not understand why Bowyn had felt so attacked at this revelation. Worse still, were the implications the last three questions posed. It implied that Arn had willingly deceived them for some nefarious end. As if still hearing the questions on his mind he shook his head. “There is nothing that I would require of you other than your company. That has not changed Bowyn. I know it is null to say this but you need not worry about any harm on my part.” The young dwarf shrugged. “Though I must honestly say that offering you as a gift had not even crossed my mind.”

He stood up from the chair he had been sitting while detailing his secret. “If you feel that you are not able to trust me to continue travelling with me, I completely understand and will hence depart. This war will already have distrust and fear running rampant. I will not be the reason why two considerate fairies have to watch their back.” The young medic bowed slightly and turned to exit.

His heart was heavy and he would be lying to himself it he did not admit that a rejection from the two winter fairies did not hurt him more than it should have. Why had he invested so much in this chance partnership? It was unfair of him to put such expectation on two fairies he had just met. There was something about the seemingly fate like encounter. It was folly after all. Perhaps he had hoped that he would not have to face the magnitude of his new heritage and the implication of doing what he could to not only safe guard his race but in some way help those that this war would harm, to include the two white haired travellers. And their little wolf too.

Barboda nodded when Lizzie thanked him and turned as she addressed everyone. He had one or two nights when those in his bounty hunting guild had tried to have celebrations such as this, but he could never get into them. Tesoro announced he’d only be having water so Barboda added, “I need to keep my head straight as well. I apologize but I cannot intoxicate myself when traveling to such a dangerous area.” He said to Lizzie. ”Tesoro and I will keep watch while you four indulge yourselves. Though, I recommend not going over your limits.”

How disagreeable. The venomous tinge ever present in Nabarra's tone was really very grating, it was difficult not to spit back at the hostile attitude, but, oh, Aiko found it difficult to stay mad when the woman began to topple over. It certainly would explain why she was so grumpy. Exhaustion can be a real bitch, after all.

And then her mask came off as she hit the floor. Oh. That complicated things. Between all the attention and the decidedly dark shade of elf at the center of the attention of a room filled with darkly shaded elf tension, the situation was... Bad.

Quickly, Aiko rose and moved over, doing his best to use his tail as a shield, but the damage had already been done, mostly. He shot the tavern owner a slightly panicked look as they gathered up the unconscious woman and started to carry her upstairs. "Yes, yes, upstairs. Take her legs, I'll manage with the shoulders," Aiko heaved and reinforced his arms with a bit of magic support underneath, growling as they carried, "be lucky if I give her the floor, with her attitude." He draped his tail over Nabarra's face, concealing the dark elf from second glances beneath the fluff. As they left the room, he left his calming pheromone behind. It was late in the day, and they were inside, too. He would be much stronger now.

"Here's the room. Yuka, the key is on a holster on the right, against my chest. My right. Would you be a dear?"

Location: On the road from Roshmi CIty to Myriamor
Interactions: Kuroi @hide on mana, Mika @Tae

To Slick’s surprise, Sivaros had stopped the group to inform them of his decision to part ways. He had only wanted to ensure Mika would be safe and he felt the princess had that in the talented fighter, Kuroi Usagi. He felt even more confident when they had all safely landed in Myriamor. The location seemed to have been unaffected by the war being waged between the Sun Elf and Malthemoor Kingdoms and Mika would soon meet with Princess Rosaria that added more protection. With his combat skills better suited elsewhere, he gave the group his farewell and re-entered the Amora.

Slick simply let out a deep sigh and a few nods as he watched the amora doors shut, but once Sivaros was out of sight, he shrugged nonchalantly and faced Mika, the leader of their group. She recommended he get a change of clothes to fit in with other Avalian’s which only made him chuckle due to the odd things he had seen on people so far. His eyes set on Kuroi’s attire with scrutiny before his gaze returned to Mika who expressed her insistence without having to utter another word. Who would I be if I turned down this doll of a princess? He briefly side-eyed Kuroi’s kimono.

“Alrighty then, let’s go to this Odds and Ends merchant. But I swear to almighty god that I ain’t wearin’ a get-up like his… No offense.” He remembered he needed these two to get around for the time being, so playing noise was key. His chances of survival in Avalia were significantly lower without their knowledge and support. Many things felt the same as where he came from. Some aspects were more advanced while others were outdated by his standard. As the three walked through Myriamor, he paid more attention to the people than the infrastructure he passed. The animal people made his right eye twitch depending on how extreme their appearances were. The elves and dwarves were an easy sight to take in. The man had seen all manner of deformities in his life, so the ears and short stature were easy to look past. Orcs were monstrous, but thank goodness there weren’t many of those around. And lastly were the fairies, they were easy on the eyes with their pretty wings and hair color variety.

Once the trio ventured to the Odds and Ends stall, Slick looked over the wares critically, before his eyebrows raised and a smile crept onto his face.

“Well I’ll be damned. They got themselves a good selection.” He pointed at the hat and cowl which seemed to be a good one to one trade for the stetson on his head, but the cowl would hide his ‘non-pointed’ ears and shade his neck from the beating sun. The scarf was nice, but his black neckerchief would serve the same purpose without having to spend anything.

Next, his eyes looked over the outfits. Slick ogled the female outfits a little more than he probably should have as he imagined a certain someone wearing the more revealing garments on display.

“Mika, I really think you would look quite lovely in that one there. It’s probably swelterin’ out here in what you got on.” He pointed at the white outfit on display. He then moved to pick out the black outfit he felt best suited himself. It was a little different than what he was used to, but he’d make it work. As he picked it out he noticed a looser outfit. He pointed at Kuroi and at the outfit at the same time while nodding with a big ol’ grin, assuming it was the vulpine’s style for sure. On his way to the counter he grabbed the saddle bag on display. “Now I’m set. Hat, clothes, and a bag for some of the stuff I’m barely holding onto right now.” His eyes rested on the critters in their respective cages, more specifically the rabbit with the horn poking out of his head. To think... that ain’t even the weirdest thing I’ve seen today.

Purchases by Mikazuki: 90 amas (10 hat, 20 bag, 60 male outfit)

Annya put her hands on her hips in reaction to Kharne's reply. She let out a huff as she composed her thoughts together for a moment before telling him, "Kharne, I will let them shop for equipment as well tonight. But do imagine these three are not warriors yet. Being taken to a new land and having to battle creatures is not an easy feat for the youth of any species. Their Earth life could be very different to ours and they might need some downtime." She was never too adept at hiding her emotions. Her brows were furrowed as she spoke, but they quickly lifted and she smiled as she added, "Besides! The best of warriors are those who can perform good team-work! Strengthen those bonds with each other, everyone!"

She took Raven's hand and smiled at her. She knew the young girl was perhaps reeling the most from everything as she had a strong reaction to the trolls. She offered hand outward towards Saoirse too, "Come, girls, I will show you around town." She glanced at Kharne, "Meet back with us tonight. Contact me at any point if anything seems off. Keep Ismael here calm and happy!" With that, Annya led the girls out of the Inn and onto the boardwalk, to where she turned and grinned at them, "Okay little flowers, where are we going first? Clothes? Equipment? Food..."Annya trailed off then gave them a bit of a mischievous smile, "Or boys?"

Kharne blinked before tilting his head slightly. "True enough, they might never have seen combat in their world." He mused. But he still felt it'd be better to arm and armor them first. Sometimes a good sheet of metal over the chest and good steel in the hand gave people comfort. The knowledge they could defend themselves to a degree. A blink and shake of his head were given to the princess at her next words. "Time and place for teamwork..." He murmured, more to himself than the others. He was a mercenary, it was entirely different than being in a military unit.

He was more used to relying on himself than others around him. If anything he tried doing more in a group to make sure things were done to his own standard. Trust did not come easy in the mercenary world. Still the girls went off to do girl things. Shop, gossip, talk of males. The behemoth looked down at Ismael for a moment before gesturing for the younger man to follow along. At least he only had to look after one human, not two. That made keeping an eye out for dangers easier on him.

It had been a little bit since he had been to River Port, but the layout felt the same. Just different faces, some new smells. It was obvious to Ismael on the first location the giant draconic man would lead him. To an armory, a business that sold arms and armor made by local blacksmiths and some brought in from other towns. "Try out various weapons, don't just look at them. Pick them up and give them a swing, pull, or thrust. What fits your hand and body best." Kharne said, inside the shop he seemed a bit more relaxed. Weapons and armor were things he liked, the current spread of gear looked like toys whenever he picked one up. Was his monstrous blade a custom order job to match his size?

Rosaria

Time: Dusk
Location: Carriage in the woods

Rosaria watched the pixie with amusement. It reminded her of her sister; fiery, passionate, and hot headed. She grinned as she watched the pixie fly to their level. However, her words caused her to frown. She was exiled? What had happened to the poor pixie? However as she began to contemplate scenarios, the pixie settled down into Sophie’s backpack. The human’s question caused her eyebrows to furrow. Was she able to send her back to her original time? There had to be a way and if not, Rosaria would make it. She let out a deep sigh as she made eye contact with them both.

”Yes, I can send you back at the same time and no, they won’t be worrying about your absence.” Rosaria didn’t elaborate as she knew the information could be right, but hadn’t ever experienced it. She didn’t glance at Nuallán so it didn't look as if she needed confirmation. She then turned to the pixie and smiled gently. ”Ms. Pixie, what is your name dear? And we don’t mind your company. Once we arrive in Myriamor, we can can all get some food. I see you have something from Sophie, although I’m not sure what that is. Sophie, can you explain?” She gestured to the pocky stick.

Then, after the silence, Rosaria continued. Talking this much was becoming draining, but she didn’t want her humans upset or hot headed. ”I can tell you a bit about myself if you’re interested.” She offered as she glanced at the three humans although Caelan was still asleep.

She let her question hang in the air and then elaborated. ”So as you know, I’m Princess Rosaria. I am next in line for the throne and also the commander of the light elf army. I’ve spent centuries training and studying all there is to know about magic, and the wondrous world of Avalia. I have a sister you met named Annya and…” She trailed off as she swallowed. ”I have a younger brother, but he’s likely dead.” She sighed as she thought of it and her heart became heavy. She let the silence fall for a moment and turned to Nuallán. Her eyes betrayed her briefly as the sorrow weaved their way into her emerald green eyes. ”Nuallán, could you please tell them more about you?” She changed subjects quickly and let out a smile at him and Aurora who had fallen asleep. She was glad to have their companies as it made her burden easier to bear.

Saoirse resisted the urge to laugh at Annya and couldn’t help but smirk. Strengthen the bonds, what a fun thing to do. The idea of them buying weapons made her grin. About time they found more to defend themselves. Maybe they had guns. Then, as Anya’s words hung in the air, she glanced at Raven. The poor nerd was likely new to this chaos and would be undoubtedly terrified. She didn’t know what to say or do to help and ignored the pit in her stomach. Raven was only here because of her… Saoirse looked down at Annya's offered hand and took it, despite not wanting too. Blending in though would be important.

Shae followed the warrior princes and the nerd out of the Inn. As she passed, she noticed two fairies and an a small.. human? She didn’t pose the question as it would have been awkward and rude, so she averted her gaze. When they left the Inn and went to the boardwalk, she let out a sigh of relief. Being cooped up in the building and not doing anything had been awful. However now the damn seagulls made her flinch as she scowled upwards at them briefly. She gritted her teeth and turned back to Annya. She tried drowning them out mentally.

Clothes, equipment or boys? Saoirse wrinkled her nose at the last statement. ”Clothes would be nice. I smell like fire… and I don’t know how accustomed these peo-Avalians are to that.” She then lowered her voice and whispered, ”Did we just pass two winged creatures? Were those two fairies? Was that man a human?” Her curiosity burned like the flames she'd summoned, and her interest was finally piqued.

Helio had spent the afternoon, after bringing Lizzie up to speed, aiding her in whatever she needed. His ability to fly came in use for doing a lot out of look-out work. However, he had been absolutely drunk the entire time. He had not been surprised the beautiful blonde elf decided to leave. She hadn’t seen the type to hang with criminals. As the night started to set in and the stars sparkled above them, Barboda had announced that the cannons were loaded. The lot of them were all completely insane for heading to the dreaded isles, but he couldn’t say he wasn’t kind of excited to get a bunch of free things. Helio glanced Barboda’s way, replying coolly, ” Those are not just stories. These waters are mostly certainly inhabited by a number of vile creatures.”

Lizzie suggested they celebrate and Helio was more than happy to get more wasted. He threw his arms up, exclaiming, ”Yes Captain Lizzie! Aye aye! I will go get the booze.” He immediately flew to get it. Alcohol was always of first priority to locate in a new place, so he was well acquainted with its location. For some reason, the big boy Tesoro wanted to drink water and Barboda did not want to drink either. More for him then. He returned with a smile, alcohol in hand, shaking the bottle to see who else was a taker.

Yuka’s eyes lit up with delight as Nabarra addressed her with irritation. She smiled at the threat, giggling, ”Ahaha! You’re so funny!” It was hard to be threatened by someone so injured. Yuka found her most amusing and debating chanting her nickname five more times. She loved seeing people get so full of emotion. She tilted her head as the woman stood up, only to fall. She curiously stood up and loomed over her as she analyzed her face. So that’s why she was masked. Gasps of shock filled the tavern. Dark elves weren’t being taken to very kindly at the moment. Yuka kept an eye on one black-haired demihuman who had taken a battle stance, grabbing a bottle.

The two males were quick to help pick up the fallen dark elf as she had been surveying the crowd. She had wished she had been faster to help carry her as Koldar had offered out a favor and she loved being owed favors. She followed them up the stairs. As they had been leaving, the black-haired demihuman had broken the bottle against the bar table and came running after them with the sharp edge pointed toward them, his ears laid back and his pupils dilated. Aiko had just been asking her to retrieve the key as the male had come up the stairs.

”Let me kill that filthy evil monster!"

Yuka whirled on her heels and slammed him into the wall by his chest at the top of the stairs. Her eyes slid as she took in the crowd at the foot of the stairs, then she returned her gaze to the male against the wall. One hand was on his wrist, keeping the broken bottle out of reach and the other was against his chest. She dug her claws into his chest slowly, ”What are you doing! Let me kill her before she kills us! Let me go!

” I have another idea.”Yuka announced after a pause. She grinned at him, ” You go downstairs or I’ll rip your heart out.” With eyes full of intensity and a grin that seemed almost insane, she dug her claws a little deeper as the male screamed out. The crowd at the foot of the stairs started backing away, not wanting to get involved.

”Okay okay let me go!” Yuka ripped her claws out as he finally agreed, ”But don’t say I didn’t try to help you. She’ll kill you all in your sleep tonight!” The demihuman relented and started to descend the stairs, holding his chest in pain and grumbling.

Yuka turned back around and rejoined the three, licking some blood off the tip of her claw. She smiled at Aiko and fetched the key out of the holster, opening the door, ”You could say I’m a bit of a heartbreaker.”
