Menzai Isanami

Time: Morning

Location: River Port

Interactions: Dante, Darius @Alivefalling @FunnyGuy

Equipment: White Haori, Gauravian luck charm bracelet

Little less than half a day since leaving the safe confines of his village and the first among his tribe to venture outside since the days humans first vanished from the realm. An entire world new and foreign to the lone wolf who knew very little of the peoples and current issues or problems as whatever information he gained from the library were outdated and thus would serve him little help. The unknown; terrifying to most, but to Menzai it was a plethora of opportunities and mysteries for him to beheld and observe.

Though such things would have to be on hold for his current objective was to seek out any humans in need of protection. Yet, even after being told of the rumors of humans returning, he still held doubt that humans truly have returned and until he personally encountered some the doubts will persist. And so, he traversed through the forest at a casually slow and alert pace, the long sleeves extending just pass his clawed hands and baggy pant-sleeves billowed gently whenever a breeze blew through; its fabric white as snow and loose fitting promising ease of movement. Matching white furred ears flicked atop his head, nearly hidden beneath his night-blue hair which seemed to almost glisten beneath whatever sunlight succeeded in seeping through the thickly packed trees. Besides the faint flap of his haori he scarcely made any other sounds as his feet; shoeless and harden from years of going about barefoot stepped in a manner rivaling that of elves. As while Menzai lacked training in combat his hunting skills were top notch; capable to hunt without being seen unless choosing to do so or an equally skilled hunter were after him.

His trek was quiet and peaceful as he encountered nothing of note save for some wild animal that he greeted silently before carrying on. River Port was his destination as for now his plans were to actually discern if the rumors were true and if he discovers them false then would simply return home.

And since he took a path that seldom received foot-traffic making chances of encountering any travelers unlikely. Then he picked up a faint scent, two in fact that were a fair distance from him, possibly half a mile or a little more and normally the wolf would pay it little mind. Yet, the scents were unknown that did not seem the match anything within these woods or of the other races he had sampled from the rare traveling visitors. A prospect too intriguing for his curious mind and so decided to inspect the source of these enigmatic scents. Shifting to bend his legs low until he was nearly crouching against the ground and then with a kick of his powerful legs leapt up high into the air where he landed gracefully onto the branches more than halfway up the tree's length. An adequate height for the demi-canine as he began leaping and running along the branches, his steps quiet and precise without missing a beat as if he naturally knew the quickest and safest pathways along the branches.

Within minutes he had been upon the two having stopped a good twenty feet wanting to keep a respectable distance to go unnoticed, but close enough to observe the two individuals that piqued his interest. Now within visible distance, he could see the two to be male and the scents now more perceptible allowing him to better discern the pair to be wholly foreign to these woods and maybe even this realm as the manner of their clothes seemed to match descriptions some humans were described to wear from the books.

Crouching down to remain unseen much as possible; from that moment on he silently observed and stalked the duo. If they truly were human then he needed to learn if they were not dangerous or in need of his aid. Such questions that he got answers to less than an hour after following as they seemed harmless though clearly were not accustomed with traversing the woods. They were certainly a peculiar pair and from the snippets of their conversations he caught seemed to suggest they were close; friends or brothers perhaps? It was possible to catch more, but he did not wish to intrude on their privacy too much and so chose to only listen in from time to time while most of his senses were focused on the surrounding area.

The unpleasant and rank stench of goblins soon stung his nose causing him to momentarily cringe in distaste as he turned his attention back to the humans. What he witnessed next left him staring incredulously at the two now left dangling upside down having been caught in traps anyone who actually bothered to look could catch. The nearly blank expression adorning his face briefly took on a look of exasperation making him wonder how the two lasted this long as he heard the dangling inept humans screaming for help.

Menzai prepared himself to help as he could both smell and hear the goblins encroaching upon their caught prey when the hairs on the back of his neck bristled. Eyes going wide as his body crouched low into a defensive stance, the smell of a demon suddenly appearing in the air.

Why a demon would be out here he had no idea nor what the being planned to do, but he kept himself ready for if the need to intervene arises. To his surprise, the demon proved an ally at least for the time being as he observed the ensuing battle after the humans were freed who showed they were capable of fighting at least. His attention, thus was kept on the demon; uncertain if he could deal with such a creature and hoped it would not turn its attention on the pair once the goblins were dispatched as he remained crouched, his right hand raised with those sharp clawed fingers prepped and ears perked in alertness.

The goblins were dispatched before long and now only the demon remained with no way to know what he may do next. Only to be surprised yet again when seeing the dark being suddenly leave on its own with nary a word to the two he just helped. A very peculiar and strange incident and bit of exchange but no harm befell the brothers so there was no point in pursuing his inquiries any further.

He waited for a few minutes after the two had ventured on before dropping down from the branches to inspect the goblins freshly looted. It wasn't items or belongings he was after; no, he was inspecting their numbers as he found this group merely a hunting party which meant only one thing. The lone wolf stood there, still as a statue and eyes closed as his breathing slowed until it was barely a whisper. All about him, the beating pulse of the forest hummed with life; many footsteps of various animals moved about then the faint flapping of feathered wings rung out behind him to the left as tiny footfalls made his ears give the gentlest flick. Exhaling slowly from his nostrils then without warning the predator spun and lunged at the ruffling bushes at such speeds he almost looked like a snowy blur.

A loud pain filled screech and gurgling wretch followed by the small thump of the single goblin collapsing while clutching its ripped throat, its dark putrid green blood pooling and staining the ground beneath where it weakly thrashed before going still.

Menzai stepped back into the clearly giving a quick wave of his right arm flicking the sickening blood from his stained fingers. The features of his face contorted with a minor look of disgusted at the foul smell of the goblins but now the scout had been dispatched before it return to camp and bring a larger party. A disgruntled sigh left his lips as he knew the smell would persist on his claws for days as he set off to the nearest river or stream to wash his hands off with some sweetly scented flowers to cover the smell best he could.

Once taken care of, the silent wolf moved on to catch up and follow after the brothers, eventually reaching River Port a few minutes after their arrival. He hesitated just outside the border, however, as this was the first time he or any of his people would be entering a town as his village was all that he knew. He took a minute to gather himself for he knew this was only one of many stops and as such needed to ready himself to visit plenty more settlements with some being far bigger and imposing than this simple port city.

When ready, the wolf entered the city using his knows to follow the brothers scent passing crowds of people as he went. Walking with his hands hidden within the folded sleeves of his haori; paying no mind to those who stopped to look at him who found his appearance odd.

It was during this time that the unexpected hologram began popping up all over. What ensued was a most horrendous and gruesome video that had people giving strong negative reactions. He, himself found it horrible and cruel; witnessing such a thing only further instilled in him a need to find and protect the humans now that he knew such monstrous and dangerous beings like this Pride were hunting for them.

This meant that simply watching the two brothers from a distance no longer proved enough and thought it time to meet them in person. And so he continued on eventually arriving at a seafood type restaurant though before he could make his way inside an incident occurred involving a miniature tornado a short distance away. For a moment he waited to see if any dangers would follow suit, but thankfully nothing of the sort happened then with a slight shrug of his shoulders quietly made his way inside.

Quickly noticing most of the people still peering through the window talking about what had just happened outside though the humans did not seem too interested or bothered by the events seeing as how they were carrying on at the table.

Deeply inhaling then a slow exhale as he approached the one still sitting, unable to recall exactly which one it was where he gave a courteous bow of the head." Greetings and good tidings. Forgive this sudden interruption in seeking sustenance but after witnessing that abominable video prevents me from refraining introductions. I am Menzai and know that I am an ally come forth to offer my aid and protection to any human in need. If accepted I shall give my all to ensure the safety of you and your brethren." He stated his offer in a calm and gentle voice, his tone cool and nearly devoid of emotion yet gave no inkling of deceit or trickery.

Time: Morning
Location: Aboard The Harem
Interactions: Tigerlily @Potter, Tesoro@Infinite Cosmos, Lizzie @Tae, Barboda @Alivefalling, Helio @princess
Equipment: A cutlass, 2 knives and a dagger strategically hidden, a spyglass, a wayfinder, pouch of amas, various jewelry.

One moment there was the thick scent of blood and talk of amas and bounties, the next there was only darkness and pain. Just like sinking to the depths of the ocean; inescapable, disorienting, all-consuming, darkness. He thrashed and struggled against it until his lungs burned and he felt the darkness slowly strangling him.

And just as quickly as it had engulfed them, the darkness dissipated. Gone. Free. Then, everything got worse. Water filled the belly of the ship and moved in ways that were not natural. Lizzie slew Vellen, Vellen used his dying strength to lash out.

The captain fell. He followed Barboda, who carried Lizzie, and the others as they scrambled from the ship and back to The Harem. Their spoils, all soon to be lost to the sea. Their captain, soon to be lost to the sea as well. They had won and it was still an absolute failure.

“...Now he is taking those who do not even belong in this world.”

A human. He realized, his head tilting to the side as he studied Lizzie a bit closer. And one chosen by the seas. Oceanblessed. Nym wore a sad smile, as Barboda walked away, indicating there was little they could do for Lizzie now. Tigerlily tried, moving quickly to bandage the likely mortal wound. Nym didn’t know much about humans, how adept they were for survival, but Lizzie did not look good. He’d seen sailors die plenty of times, she looked no different from any of them. Nym approached Lizzie's other side, across from Tigerlily, knelt by his captain, and gently wrapped his hands around hers.

“Cap’n, I don’t know if ya can hear me, butcha ain’t alone. It don’t look good, but we’ll all see to it that ya get a proper return to the seas here. Know that the sea doesn’t give gifts to the unworthy, and you, aye the sea she took one look at ya and gave you her finest gift, made ya Oceanblessed. It is an honor to sail in your company.” He spoke softly to the human, his captain, one who controlled the seas. “Until my last breath, I’ll tell tales of yer bravery, of a Pirate Queen who moved oceans with her whims. One day little ones will sing songs of Cap’n Lizzie and you will never be forgotten.” Nym offered the sort of thing he would want to hear if their situations were reversed. He was far better equipped to inflict damage than to heal it, but this, ensuring Lizzie did not die alone, this he could do.

“Anything you can do? He asked, looking over at Helio.

Time: Morning
Location: River Port-Inn
Interactions: Rue @Potter
Equipment: 1 hunting knife, a flask of alcohol, a backpack, small tent, blanket, waterskin, rope, fire starting kit, lightmaker, cooking pot, a bar of soap, some drugs; skaula (8 grams) and zemak (a bit less than an ounce), rolling papers, and 191 amas.

Bowyn merely offered Arn a half-hearted wave goodbye as the dwarf was called away on what the fairy could only assume was official dwarven prince business. He kept his eye on the windows in the inn that looked over the beach. Everything outside seemed to have called down, Annya must’ve gotten everything under control. Then, his attention turned back to Rue, and since she was now awake and alert he was less concerned. Arn had still seemed concerned before he left, but Bowyn knew the other fairy and her capabilities. Most fairies knew how to heal, even he could heal himself pretty well, and he didn’t have a fraction of Rue’s talent when it came to that discipline. Rue would be fine.

“I’m good, Rue.” Bowyn offered a solemn nod, then a smile as she held the glasses to her eyes. Mooney seemed less than amused and Bowyn couldn’t blame him, although Rue was not the main source of his anxiety now. River Port was wholly unsafe now, Raven’s actions had drawn too much attention, and her display of power was something just about any Avalian could easily determine was done by a human. “A lot of people saw that though. We’ll need to leave soon.” He added before looking back out at the beach. They had forced him through a portal and let the blue guy stay. Did they trust him less than the demon? Was it worth staying with them if that was true?

“Lightheaded huh? I think I feel about the same. Maybe we should get some food? We’ll need it anyways before we head out of here.” He added, offering his hand to help pull Rue up off the floor.

Location: The Harem
Interaction:@Tae Lizzie@HeloNym @Tae Faye @Alivefalling Barboda
Equipment:Black coat with fur trim on the hood, dark-colored, plain male clothing, sword with unbreaking and return enchantments, strength enchanted gloves, 2 medium red potions, hygiene products, timeteller, wayfinder, transmission bracelet, a flask, standard backpack, and an ama pouch with 1800 amas.

Helio had felt fury fill him upon seeing the bodies. How dare he! All this life... Why! But before he could do anything, his vision went black and air stopped making its way into his lungs. It was painful and he could not see nor move. Being submerged in darkness, drowning, was like a deja vu to a long-forgotten nightmare. Panic gripped his body, his heart racing. He struggled to try to disperse the darkness swallowing him up. It did not last long luckily enough and Helio found himself dropping to the floor. He rubbed his throat as he scrambled to his feet, looking around until his gaze found Lizzie. The situation moved fast from then on and suddenly she was standing before them with a tendril of darkness piercing her body.

It was too late. They had failed her.

Helio had scrambled up, out, and over to the other ship after Barboda, fluttering his wings as he dropped ungracefully to Lizzie's side. He knelt behind her and gently pulled her head into his lap in an attempt to make her more comfortable. The poor thing had been a human all along. He was silent, watching Nym take her hand and speak. Words of death always made Helio uncomfortable. It had been a notion in life he had trouble accepting; how someone could just be there one minute and gone forever the next. He thought of his brother; how he must have felt dying alone. Now this girl was all alone dying all alone in a world that wasn't hers. Nym's words were beautiful and could not have been said it better... But knowing how scared Lizzie could be feeling made tears form in Helio's eyes. If only things were different, he could save her. This woman had deserved a long life.

But because of them, he could not save anyone anymore. Helio sighed and glanced at Nym, "I can't save her but..."He drew off and sat his hands gently on her shoulders. A dim glow came out of each palm. "I can take away the pain I think."

Dante Blackbourn

Time: Morning
Location: River Port
Interactions: @FunnyGuy Darius @samreaper Menzai
Equipment: Old hat, Clothes from a dead elf, Steel Sword

Dante paused a moment confused as to why someone would come up directly to them. He looked at this man who had stood before the brothers at the table. He was a pretty strange looking guy; something out of an anime convention. Dante leaned over and quietly spoke. “Uh… I think there may be a better place to speak about such things.” He said then leaned back again. “Nice to meet you Menzai, I am Dante Blackbourn. Why don’t you take a seat? We are just waiting for our food to arrive.” Though he did not feel any ill intent from Menzai’s words, he decided it is best to be friendly to those he did not know. Dante still looked around the room to make sure nobody else was looking at them. He was cautious after the scene that Pride showed only wanting to keep him and his brother safe and out of danger.

Dante looked toward his brother and ordered, “Darius welcome our guest and introduce yourself.”

Darius watched as the tornado died down as quickly as it started. That’s if one could call it a start. From what he could remember about them, they never lasted very long compared to other storms. It was hard to tell what happened to the people that he had faintly spotted due to the sand now clouding that area. Elemental magic or just a tornado? It was difficult to discern in a magical fantasy world with a pink sun, two moons, and races of people he only saw in fiction.

Darius let loose a light sigh before turning back towards Dante who hadn’t left the table and was actually speaking to someone with the most vibrant hair he’d seen since arriving here. He wondered what was going on and walked toward the table with a look of skepticism. It was only natural after watching a man getting ripped in four… well he never saw that part but he knew that’s what happened!

“Darius welcome our guest and introduce yourself.”

“Oh, yes dear brother who believes he is in charge of me. How could I have forgotten that between us, the social butterfly is actually you!” Darius did not hold back on the sarcasm as he approached. He scoffed at Dante and shook his head before his eyes landed on the stranger. He took a second to get used to the demihuman’s features from so close up before he outstretched his hand. “I’m Darius and you can take a seat if you like.”

Inventory: A rogue-ish set of clothing, his dog tags, and a set of faux demihuman Wolf ears, a Ring of Disguise, two rations of food, water flask, a bar of soap and a few other portable hygienic products.

Ismael had made his way over to the beach that once had a column of razer wind. As once he got there he saw the column had slowly disappeared and Annya was holding both Shae and Raven. The event had ended, it seems Raven had been the perpetrator of the tornado appearing. Ismael had some assumptions about what could have caused Raven to go into an emotionally unstable state. But this was not the time, the main event ended, which meant the fallout was about to begin.

It seemed Annya knew this as well, as she saw him and Kharne were there and asked them to accompany them. Ismael let out a sigh as he then said, "Yeah, that would be for the best". As Ismael made his way closer he began to notice both Raven and Shae were disappearing. At first, Ismael was worried, but he started figuring out what was happening, Annya was using her light magic to bend the light and make them hidden. Ismael let out another sigh of relief as he then says, "Alright you two, we'll need to start heading off. Make sure to stay close behind me and Kharne, leave next to no room as we go okay?". Ismael waited for a response to occur before they started moving, he had no clue where they'd be if they didn't stay in close contact, but they couldn't hold hands or a rope because then it'd be obvious.

Menzai Isanami

Time: Morning

Location: River Port

Menzai quietly observed the two after dispensing with his introductions, turning his ears away upon noticing the man named Dante leaned towards his companion to whisper something. He did so to avoid listening in as again he was not one to intrude one's privacy unless the situation demanded it. Soon having the pair introduce themselves and through it confirmed his assumption that the two were brothers and their bickering exchange further confirming it.

It was quickly evident that he took the two off-guard and that such a public place indeed made for a poor place to meet the two humans. Yet, after having witnessed what was broadcasted on that hologram and realized things were far more dangerous and dire than previously thought leading to a great need to get them under his watch earlier than intended as an enemy of humans could be lurking anywhere at this point. Even now his senses were working to pick up any hint or signs of dangerous or ill intent while making sure to keep from showing his alertness so as to not have the brothers worry needlessly.

Sensing nothing of the sort as of yet, allowing him to return his attention to the individual named Darius who extended his hand towards him in a queer fashion which he responded with another respectful bow of his head." I am most appreciative of the kindness afforded to me even after my sudden and abrupt approach. I am pleased to make your acquaintance, Sir Dante and Sir Darius." Turning his head to each in turn when mentioning their names; normally he would prefer to them by last name though since they shared the same surname it would be confusing to do so." I graciously accept the offer to join in your dining and during this time hope to accrue agreement in joining with your travels where I may assist in whatever endeavors is sought." Bowing his head once more then moved to take a seat at the table indicated where they may better discuss things out while the brothers ate.

Orias remained composed, effort put into seeming calm and assured, though beneath that he was fully shocked that all of this had gone far better than he expected. They actually had secured an alliance with the Avians, and sure Augus seemed more than willing to take on any threat to keep the city he served safe, and maybe just about anyone could’ve convinced him with nothing more than a just cause, but it hadn’t been anyone. It had been him. If, or hopefully when, he ran into his sisters again at least he had this to offer, to show he had done something helpful, useful, for once in his life. He could almost smile at that, but not yet, not in front of the general. He had to continue the strong front but even the slightest relaxation in his posture was making his hands start to shake as the adrenalin wore off.

He shoved his hands in his pockets, listening as Aiko spoke, his weight shifting from one foot to the other as the fox shared their story. A bit of honesty was refreshing from the fox, but the jab toward Augus at the end made his eyes widen. His heartbeat quickened, even more so as he watched the Avian study the scorch marks on the floor. The general was clearly displeased, but Orias doubted it would be enough to change Augus mind. No, Augus spoke with passion about defeating dark elves, he was unafraid of demons, and the Avains would not remain passive in a war. Orias couldn’t fault Aiko for speaking the truth, they showed boldness, nor Xavier for controlling his magic as best he could, he showed power. Everything was still going well, he stayed controlled, and waited for Augus’ response.

As expected, Augus took the slights in stride, their alliance seemed cemented as the Avian offered a shopping trip, for a transmission bracelet, and a spot on the general’s own bracelet. Even better, they were to be escorted by the general’s sons, a far less intimidating pair than the man himself. Regrettably, Yuka’s attention broke from Xavier and she began waving her arms about drawing everyone’s attention. Most of what she said, he could agree with; now that dark elves had aligned with demons their task would be exponentially harder. They would have to know more about these rarely seen outsiders of Avalia but proposing to seek out a demon ally, here in front of the general, seemed a bit much.

"Basically I think we’re all fucked!”

Yuka’s final words hit him harder than he could’ve anticipated. I can’t even convince my own traveling companions that we can win. Any idiot could’ve convinced Augus to agree to something man clearly already wanted. But Yuka? Yuka thinks we're all doomed, maybe she's right. No longer completely composed, he glanced at the lioness with a pained expression. Maybe some things never changed, maybe he was destined for failure. But if things never changed, then his sisters would surely succeed, there were other Birens capable of ensuring they won this war. He could count on that, he just had to focus on keeping one human alive long enough to get Xavier to them. Maybe he could manage not to fuck that up.

“Good points Yuka. More study, of demons, would be a good place to start. Maybe one thing at a time though; a shopping trip, put some distance between us and Roshmi, then I am all for researching.” He offered, nodding towards Yuka. A halfhearted attempt to smooth over her harsh words while they remained in front of Augus.

“Sir, while you may not need our gratitude, you have it nonetheless.” Orias bowed again to Augus, before attempting to herd the others back outside. The sooner they got things moving the better.

Aiko Yume

Time: Morning
Location: Avian City, General's Office
Interactions: Yuka @princess, Orias @Helo, Xavier @Omni5876, Augus @FunnyGuy

The general really knew how to make his presence intense. The intensity here made the captain seem like a wafer-thin mint. Whew, it was tough not to wilt here. General Augus made a firm stance, but Aiko was not convinced. However, pushing the general too firmly wouldn't yield any positive results.

Though, maybe that was a better idea than trying to dig at the demon in disguise in front of the sword of judgement that is the general. Aiko had turned and caught the wink. They may have slipped up back at the tavern, but that was because drunks didn't tend to care and they usually only had drunks upstairs. Turns out, two sober people care a lot more about gender bending. No, they were much more on guard, now.

"Yuka, please. If we keep our heads on straight and our hearts in it, we'll do alright. As for teaming up..." Aiko had to think. Was there anyone else that had essentially defected? "There was an old man that used to come around the tavern. Had some neat gadgets to him. Had. Think the ol' fellow had to sell, damn shame. He used to talk about demons, sometimes. I'll try to sift through what I remember from him while we go shopping."

Orias clearly wanted to get out of there before anyone else said something dumb. Understandable. Speaking of which, Aiko turned to the General on the way out, stopping for a moment, "actions can be spurred - or stifled - with either the right or wrong words." They paused, put their hands to their mouth thoughtfully, and spoke carefully, "and that is often where the meaning of those actions comes from, regardless of the actor's intent. We paint the actions with our words. Please, paint with unity." And with that, they left.

Once outside, Aiko was on the lookout for the new escort. "Do you think the general will be pleased or disgruntled if I tell his youngsters my name?"

Nuallán could feel his heart beating stronger and faster every single time his foot touched the hot sands. The amount of feelings on his mind were making it hard for Nuallán to keep calm. To make things even worse, the desert was not a place he was particularly familiar with, which meant that not only he wasn't able to move himself as freely as he usually did and that he would have to adapt his fighting style to that environment. Still, those worries were next to nothing for Nuallán at the moment as the only things in his head were rescuing Rosaria and slaughtering those who were responsible for that.

It was at that exact moment he heard a voice calling him from behind and telling him to wait. Nuallán didn't have to turn his head to know it was Jomari. Truth be told, he wasn't exactly thrilled to know Jomari would be accompanying him. He could only hope Jomari wouldn't slow him down.

"You should have gone with Uzul and Kuroi..." Nuallán muttered to himself before he slightly turned his head towards Jomari.

"One strong gust of wind is all it takes for these tracks to be gone! You might not care about Rosaria, but I do... I don't have time to waste." Nuallán shouted in a brief, direct manner.

"You are surrounded by your element, Jomari. Use it. Think about each grain of sand in this vast desert, how soft they can be when together, how the strong winds are able to move entire dunes of sand and how easy it is for one to lose their footing, slip and fall." Nuallán shouted.

"Don't think of 'earth' as just something solid, hard and firm. The earth has many states. Mud, sand, rocks... No matter how different they are, they are still the same element." he finished as he turned forward again, continuing running as fast as he could.

Offering some advice to help Jomari with his powers was all Nuallán could do at the moment instead of simply continuing running and leaving him behind. If he was able to understand his words and use his powers, he would be able to catch up with him.

Up until the group had set up camp for the night, Kuroi had kept solemn silence throughout their journey. Only when he was talked to or commented on would Kuroi make any sort of remark or reaction. As the entire group came together to decide who would be on first watch, the Vulpine was very vehemently against allowing both of the princesses take watch for the night. This had been the loudest and most spoken he had been for the past day or so also. To allow such important individuals to take on the job of a night guard was inane in his eyes but alas, it seems neither of them would have it. It was at this point in time where Kuroi had a thought he didn't even have regrets for having - both Rosaria and Mikazuki were being utterly stupid.

Much to his disdain, Kuroi simmered down in one of the tents that had been brought along for the trip. His head pointed towards the entrance of the tent as he lied down to rest. As eyes grew heavy, so did the guilt of not forcing Mikazuki to sleep in place of him. This was a bad idea - a really bad idea.

And the fact that such an idea bore rotten fruit was not something that surprised him at all. Kuroi's eyes instantly shot open when he heard Mikazuki let out a loud scream. Having fallen asleep with his travelling clothes on, he was the first to exit the tent...as well as the first to realize they were too late in stopping an abduction. An audibly angry growl left Kuroi's face as he met eyes with the other bodyguard, Jomari, and Uzul. His bare, exposed face was one wrought with annoyance and worry, but such emotions did not overtake his logic nor his body. After familiarizing himself with their communication system, he nodded and watched the two run off before looking up at Uzul. "Do what you will. My eyes are your's, new friend."

Her milky eyes glazed over the auras of Caelan and Sophie. She pained for them, with a subtle downwards turn of her lips. She could see their flickering spirits, wavering with a despairing anxiety. She said nothing to them as she looked towards Slick. Her hand tightened around his dark hand as she followed him through the water.

The glistening sensation was still relaxing, and she wished they could have remained longer. With her spare hand, Aurora glided the tips of her fingers against the surface of the water. The cool feeling tickled her skin and then vanished as she rose from the pool.

“Slick is unerring. Forgive me,” she welcomed the correction and pushed the bad dream from her mind. She was acting paranoid and needed to refrain from an over-reaction on her part. The group needed her to be steady. She eased her own spirit by minding her father’s words of wisdom “It is wise if we dry ourselves and make haste to the blacksmith, as Slick has suggested.”

Her blind eyes closed as she drew in a breath. The poor souls needed some sort of comforting. She would have enjoyed singing an enchanting song aboutSolaris and Lunathea, but in such an atmosphere, it would only draw unwanted attention. She let her hand relax from Slick’s strength. Her eyes opened, and again, her clouded vision gazed at the dark cowboy. The same worried frown was sketched over her face, but quickly it redrew itself into a weary smile. “After we go to the blacksmith,” she paused and looked towards Calaen and Sophie, “we should replenish ourselves by getting something tasty to eat. Maybe a dessert to cheer our spirits...” the elf paused again, and her smile brightened against the dark mood, “The blacksmith’s will be an equally fun adventure, as well, I must confess.”

Aurora had never used a weapon before, but she understood the novelty of picking a weapon and armor. The first always cradles a special memory within its owner’s heart. She was looking forward to hearing what the humans chose. As with her brother and other creatures, she could feel how their personalities would resonate with their selections, as some honorary extension of their inner spirits.

“How does that sound?” Her hands clasped together in hope and studied the lights emitting from Caelan and Sophie. They were so precious and fragile, and their coming to this truth was not the gentlest of awakenings. As much as she wished to soften their journey, she believed in the strength of the humans.

Fatigue wasn’t the worst symptom of mana burnout, if one were to ask Eris. No, it was the damn headache that often came with it. Thankfully this wasn’t the worst burnout she’d ever had before so she knew that it would pass soon, but that didn’t mean she wasn’t about to play it up. She’d just shown an incredible display of power and she knew it would likely raise questions, especially from those that knew light magic and its capabilities. She’d be damned if she gave away the full extent of her power immediately. So she allowed herself to wobble, grasped onto that awful headache and didn’t let it go.

She heard Kaleb’s voice, sensed him drawing closer to her, and played it up as he put an arm around her. She leaned into him as he guided her away, on hand going to her head. ”Worried about me, are you? I thought the hero was supposed to fall for the princess, not the commoner.” She said with a teasing grin, but then winced as she stumbled a little. ”Truly, though, I’ll be okay. I simply just used too much and am feeling the effects of it. I’ll be back to normal in a little bit.” Her smile turned to more of a reassuring one before she turned to look at Annya.

”I certainly won’t deny a drink after that.” Eris let out a weak chuckle and briefly glanced back to see Raven as Saoirse were gone. Good, there certainly was going to be fallout after all that. ”It really was no big deal, though. I was simply following your orders and keeping the others safe. I do fear, though, that doing what I did may have angered our fairy friends greatly.” She sighed, though in the back of her mind she felt giddy when she thought back to Bowyn’s face before the portal closed. The confusion and anger were priceless.

“actions can be spurred - or stifled - with either the right or wrong words…"

"...and that is often where the meaning of those actions comes from, regardless of the actor's intent. We paint the actions with our words. Please, paint with unity.”

Augus kept silent as he stared the fox man down. He rarely had the patience for those who spoke so indirectly, and even more rarely did he heed the arguments from a mere civilian. The winged general did not view the fox as having any stakes in this war. He did not know them, but he doubted they had what he held dear to him. A family, a city, and a duty to his people are all Augus had. An orphan with no family in sight. Fled from his home, Roshmi. And what duty? To unity? Duty to such a thing could only ever be a fantastical dream.

Augus watched stoically as the group left his study. The man was still unsure if he was making the right call with them. At worse, they were spies or fools that would be sent away from his city. At best, they were a wildcard he could play that might have a chance of bringing more allies to the fight. Still, their talk of demon allies after watching what one of those fiends did to a human. With the group gone, he spoke in reply but to himself.

“Yes Yuka, very good points. More study, of demons, is indeed a good place to start.” A hint of a grin formed on his lips before he turned back to his desk. His mind would stir with dark ambitions and good intentions before he would set out to meet with Governor Brightfeather to inform her of his plan to send a ‘team’ to the River Fairy Kingdom.

Outside the side entrance of the home.

“Augie! I think that’s them! They don’t have wings!” Linus exclaimed as he swayed back and forth above them. His wings extended out as he allowed the wind to keep him afloat similar to a kite.

“I can see them just fine.” Augus IV was standing before the group wearing a stern expression that mimicked his father’s. “Greetings Ter- Esteemed guests. I am Augus Maximus IV and I will b-” Linus unsteadily landed between Augus IV and the group, balancing on one of his feet for a moment before planting the other with a stomp.

“I’m Linus MAXIMUS! And we’re going to take you to the stores in the market.” He held a look of determination as if the boy had been tasked with guarding royalty. If only he knew…

“Uh, yeah. Let’s just go. It’s not too far… even for terrestrials.” Augus IV let the term slip.

“Eh, before we start calling them that the whole time, what are your names? Or what should we call you?” The sweeter of the two asked since their father hadn’t provided the detail. Once introductions were settled, the group would venture to the market. Linus insisted on splitting up, and Augus IV agreed as it meant getting rid of his brother for a brief time. While Linus decided to go the Odds & Ends since it was his favorite place to shop, Augus IV thought the Gadgets and Convenience Shop would prove better for what Orias was looking for.

“Worried about me, are you? I thought the hero was supposed to fall for the princess, not the commoner.”Kaleb smirked, finding Eris’ playful tone enough assurance that she was at least fine mentally, despite how exhausted she appeared to be.

“You and common? Not a chance, Eris.” He said just before she assured him that she’d be fine and that her poor physical state was only temporary. He had planned to keep his eyes forward so he could focus on guiding Eris to someplace comfortable but Annya’s presence was hard not to notice as she appeared in his peripherals with a voice of concern. “Yeah she’s going to be fine. It’s finally my turn to help her out for once.” He chuckled to himself as initially he was just talking just to talk but his words rang true. And to think he only got this chance to help Eris because she had pushed herself in aiding someone else. Eris… He wondered about her. How could she be so altruistic? It wasn’t a trait he thought anyone capable of having, yet ever since meeting Eris, she’d done nothing but go out of her way to help others. Only now was she receiving a reward for her efforts. And she hasn’t even asked for the amas I said she’d get for uniting me with the princess…

“Mind if I help so we can get her out of here faster?”

“Teamwork makes the dream work, right?” He gave Annya a nod, not being too prideful to lessen the workload. He wasn’t the biggest fan of working up too much of a sweat, especially after having such an amazing bath at the spa.

And yet again, Eris was showing concern for others and confirming how she had helped out Annya in whatever occurred on the beach.

“Oh come on, fuck them Eris! You saved the day as far as I see it! Plus bonus points for listening to the lady in charge here.” Kaleb wanted Eris to be a little selfish for once. “Annya’s gonna treat us to some drinks and some good conversation, right? I mean I’m down if-” Kaleb suddenly paused as he noticed a blue floating something staring their way with crossed arms. “Hey, smurf! Yeah, you blue guy! You can quit staring! It’s fucking creepy, just saying!” Kaleb shook his head with displeasure. Now he was the one glaring Inori as the three continued walking.

It was indeed true that Inori had done nothing to help the situation, and the demon would have been lying if he claimed not to enjoy the sight. Surface dwellers were a crucible for chaos, and their never ending pursuit of soothing its constant presence was a practice of futility clearly seen as entertainment by otherworldly beings such as Inori.

He was a bystander, an observer recording transpired events within the swirling recess of his mind before eventually putting it to paper. Even so, had he attempted to offer aid, Inori was quite certain others would have seen it as a means of hostility. A demon wielding its power during such a sensitive moment in time begged the question of whether benevolent intentions were at the forefront.

With a tilt of his head Inori shifted a crimson gaze towards yet another human. They came in all shapes, sizes, and colors it would appear. Something the demon was unused to. ’What the fuck is a Smurf?’ He found himself pondering, before the creature’s fingers grasped the strap of his shoulder bag. A conclusion drawn was that surface social etiquette had been increasingly difficult to navigate.

Inori needed a moment to process this and plan a decent course of action. ”Ah you mean me,” came a sheepish grin. Human lingo passed over the demon’s head. ”I should be taking my leave as well. Enjoy the rest of your day, and that promise of drinks will have to wait until.., how do you say it? ‘Rain check’?” A faint chuckle escaped him.

The infernal’s words were accompanied by a hand wave before his shape appeared to distort, an azure wind moving to phase the demonic entity from place, where he vanished. He needed time to document everything that had just happened, and relations were strained.

Yuka had whirled on Aiko, his tone suddenly changing completely, "You're right! Positivity is probably more fun for right now anyway."She then pointed at her own face. "Not even demons would want to hurt a face like this anyway." When Orias had commended her points, she made a clicking noise in her mouth and gave him some finger guns. Moments later they had found themselves outside with the two baby birdman. Her stomach growled and her eyes widened with glee at the sight of them. "Why hello small friends."She cooed. "My name's Yuka.... "Her gaze slipped to Aiko, "Yeeeesss... Introduce yourself to the fetuses."

She grinned at the one who had introduced himself as Linus. He was trying so hard to be so serious! "Good job on the delivery, Linus. I'd say you don't get a minus!"Yuka cheekily exclaimed and giggled at her own joke. It seemed they'd be splitting up to go shopping for their needs. Though she wanted to look at clothes, she was certainly curious about a certain someone in their group. She was thoughtful for a moment before she suddenly bound up to Orias and leaned over to grin in his face. "Let's go together! Where do you want to go, pretty boy?"

Annya shook her head. She had not seen Bowyn's face as Eris had so it was easier for her to make an assumption. Kaleb's response was certainly passionate but he was right. "I'm sure Bowyn will understand you did it to help him and Rue. I think he quite likes the girl so he might have just been upset." She exhaled, "...But if he is still upset later. I'll try to talk to him and let him know you were just following my orders. " She slipped her arm under Eris's and helped to support her. However before they could move further, Kaleb had some words for the unidentified creature. Thankfully the creature in question took his leave. She had a feeling he'd be around and she wasn't going to let her guard down.

She felt bad leaving her other group behind to go to the Inn, but it was probably best those four took some time to relax. The girls had a hard two days and some downtime while laying low was a great idea for them while she built relations with her allies. Besides, the smaller the group, the less attention they'd pull. "Well then. Drinks on me!" Annya said cheerfully with a smile. "You two ever been to the Tipsy Tavern?"
