Location: Castle Gardens
Interaction: @Helo Callum

King Edin had been preparing to enter the garden. His dancers were rehearsing just outside it as they had planned a grand entrance. Women were fanning him with gigantic, gold-trimmed fans while another servant was tilting his face left and right, looking for any imperfections. True to his character, the king relished in the idea of arriving fashionably late, savoring the anticipation it created among his guests. He raised his hand, ready to cue the beginning of his parade.

But in that moment of poised anticipation, a horrendous trumpet blared through the air, jolting the king and his entourage. Horror etched across his face, he felt an inexplicable sensation rise in his throat as if his very dignity had been assaulted. "What-... What is the meaning of this!" He sputtered in disbelief.

“Beautiful people of Caesonia, The Prince of Onions and Ezra Turner, master baker, the greatest in Caesonia, have arrived!”

King Edin was silently fuming. How dare that vile Callum play a TRUMPET in his courtyard at... at his event!

His loyal servants glanced at him, concern etched across their faces, uncertain of how to quell their king's wrath.

"... Prince of Onions... Oh you truly are a waste of space and time, Callum Danrose." Gritting his teeth, he looked at them. "We must outdo his spectacle and make everyone quickly forget that disgraceful noise." the king seethed, his tone laced with disdain.

He looked at one of the guards. "If he plays that trumpet one more time, you must go confiscate it from him. Chase him down if you have to."

A hush went over the garden as the tune of a few horns filled the air(none of them trumpets), overpowering the sweet sound of birds chirping. The string quartet came to a halt. Beautiful, scantily clad women came down a path from the castle into the garden, adorned in the most opulent of jewels. Their smiles, as radiant as the gems they wore, graced all who caught their gaze.

Following in the wake of the bewitching women, a troupe of graceful dancers twirled and weaved, their every motion a mesmerizing display.

And finally, at the heart of this enchanting spectacle, appeared King Edin himself. Flanked by his loyal knights, he strode with an air of undeniable authority, his every step echoing with confidence. A long, fur-trimmed cape cascaded behind him, sweeping the ground. The ends of it were carried by some servants, whose smiles did seem a little forced. His crown, adorned with an array of glistening gemstones, caught the sunlight and sent dazzling rays in every direction.

"Behold! Your King!" A small bearded fellow bellowed.

"Behold, my esteemed guests!" King Edin proclaimed, echoing the man with a flourish of his hand, causing the musicians to momentarily falter in their tune. "Welcome to this most spectacular garden tea party, graciously hosted by none other than yours truly, King Edin of Caesonia!"

Loud applause filled the air and sounds of excitement from people definitely not paid to do so.

"Is there any doubt that this event is an embodiment of unparalleled magnificence?" the king continued, a self-satisfied smile stretching across his face. "I have spared no expense in providing you with the finest treats, the most exquisite music, and, of course, the honor of being in the presence of the great King Edin himself!"

King Edin gave everyone a joyous smile as he waved to all, then proceeded to move over to a table. He had been informed that all the food had been tasted and no one had died from poison this time, which was a great way to start the day!

"Observe, as I indulge in the delights of my kingdom," he declared, taking a delicate bite. "Delicious, of course. But not nearly as exquisite as myself!" After his performance, he moved over to a large marble throne to sit for all to see. He was truly a kind king to let their eyes grace his greatness in such close proximity.

As knights flanked him protectively, while two broke off to find Callum and catch his eye, daring him to dare blow that blasted trumpet again.

"Oh I love being well-rested so dearly." Charlotte could not help but express her love for sleep. Being a doctor was hard work for certain and it was important he took his rest so he could help people efficiently. She smiled at him as she considered his choice of career. "You truly deserve a day of relaxation. It is indeed a noble endeavor to dedicate one's life to the service of others as you do. I am certain your contributions to the Varian Kingdom are deeply appreciated."

She then gestured toward her father and friends, "If you're on the hunt for free food, I brought lots of treats. Your presence is by no means an intrusion. However, there is no haste from my end." As for his next statement, she beamed and took hold of the fabric of her dress, and gave him a slight curtsy. "Why thank you, dapper gentleman. I do come here rather often. I grew up on the beach in Veirmont so I do rather enjoy being by the water."

Charlotte subsequently watched him sip his smoothie and was rather tempted by his offer... It looked very fruity and refreshing. "...That does sound rather nice."

Mina, Wystan & Anastasia

Interactions: @Silverpaw Wulfric @Tpartywithzombi Violet

Their turn in line arrived, and Wystan stood before them. As he would begin the customary inspection, Mina couldn't help but feel a mix of apprehension and mischief. She cast a playful glance at the bodyguard. "Oh, I hope you'll be thorough in your search. Wouldn't want me sneaking any dangerous weapons past you, now would we?" Her tone carried a flirtatious undertone, a glimmer of amusement dancing in her eyes.

Her uncle gave her a brief, amused glance as he removed the sword Mina had noticed him wearing earlier and handed it over as he complied with the rule of no weapons. He’d never been fond of Mina’s flirtatious ways, but he also understood why she did what she did. He just wasn’t sure if Wystan was one she should be playing her games with.

Mina's lips curled into a mischievous smirk as she leaned closer, her voice a mere whisper. "I trust you'll handle me with care, Wystan. After all, I wouldn't want to be mistaken for a threat." She wondered if he’d be surprised that she knew his name or not, but she always made a note to try and learn everyone’s names, whether they were servants or nobility. Wystan was one she considered more important to remember as well as he was often around Prince Auguste.

"Oh, I hope you'll be thorough in your search. Wouldn't want me sneaking any dangerous weapons past you, now would we?"

. “Of course not, my lady,” Wystan replied obediently– though he had not known her to be the type to carry weapons. They were familiar faces both at the royal estate and based on his research on the noble and ignoble men and women who step foot near the Danroses. He had given both Count and Lady Blackwood a customary bow before resuming his work, receiving the kind Earl’s sword with fair thanks who was later in turn gently guided inside by the servants.

“I’ll wait for you inside, Mina.” The Count called out, but Mina simply waved to him. She wanted him to go enjoy himself as she in turn enjoyed herself.

The watchdog had expected Lady Blackwood’s turn next, and after having gone through plenty of grumpiness and rowdiness at just the gathering’s line itself, it also happened to be the first time his ears were graced with a whisper this day. He leaned in himself midway to be able to fully grasp her words. "...After all, I wouldn't want to be mistaken for a threat."

His ears tingled, but this time it was not in a way that perceived a threat. Strange. As this woman was quite an important figure that had often appeared at the royal estate’s gatherings, it was even stranger that she had known his name. A half moment was taken to process what the soon-to-be countess was trying to say, but he simply chose to take it at face value.

“Worry not, Lady Blackwood,” Wystan spoke earnestly as he worked around her garb, his hands still maintaining a respectful distance from her, barely making contact with skin not covered by fabric. “You are far from a threat. As one of our trusted guests, your and Count Blackwood’s’ safety is my utmost priority. I will allow no harm to come to anyone during this gathering.”

“...As such, if either of you should find yourselves in any form of discomfort, I will not be far.” He said, carefully finishing off his security checkup.

Mina's mischievous smile widened as she listened to Wystan's response. She admired his dedication to ensuring their safety, even if it meant enduring her playful banter. She almost wanted to chastise all those that were giving him any grief.

"Well, I'm relieved to know that I'm in capable hands," she replied with a playful glint in her eyes. "Your diligence is truly commendable. I shall remember your offer of protection, should the need arise." Her voice carried a hint of flirtation, a gentle teasing in her tone. She then dipped into a small curtsy as he finished up his check. “I do thank you for being gentle with me, it was my first time after all.” She was playing with fire, she knew this, but it was all too much fun.

“Of course, my lady. I will be at your service.” A bow followed after.

It was at this moment that Wulfric appeared, speaking to Mina and reprimanding her for her actions. She glanced at him, a defiant smirk forming on her lips, but before she could speak she was pushed backwards by a different Danrose.

A loud cough filled the air. “Hello! …I believe I’m next.” Anastasia pushed forward around Mina as her voice cut through the air. It wasn’t clear exactly where she had been in line or even why, but she made her way to stand in between Mina and Wystan. Clad in a long white dress with gold details and red roses adorning it, the ashen-haired princess stood before him with a smile. “Hello Wystan.”

“Your Royal Highness,” The watchdog was visibly pleased. He smiled and greeted Anastasia with a deep bow. “Your presence here was much anticipated, and I am truly glad to see you well. May I?” He spread his gloved hands before her, politely asking for permission before going ahead with the security check. Though he was unsure if anybody else in the reception area had noticed it, there was a warm glow radiating from Ana that day, and the idea of putting his hands on her felt like a sin.

Mina took note of the interaction in front of her, finding it quite intriguing. She would simply log that away for use on a different day. ”Thank you for your service, Wystan.” She dipped in a curtsy to the man, looked to Anastasia and gave her quite the smirk. ”Princess…” Another curtsy and then she’d left their company to now address Wulfric. The princess had given her a smile back but said nothing in greeting.

“You may.”Anastasia agreed and smiled up at him. It was nice to see him happy. She was at a loss for words for a few moments before she finally asked,him,“...What would you like me to bring you from the treats table?”

“Ah–” The watchdog lightly waved his hand with a grateful smile. “Princess, I couldn’t. Please, don’t trouble yourself.. I know how much you enjoy sweets. All I’d want is for you to enjoy them for today’s gathering.”

“Ah I am going to get you a treat. I insist! You’re lucky I already know what you like.” Anastasia told him with a giggle then moved off the line once he was done checking, her gaze lingering even as she had stepped away.

Mina’s attention was now on Wulfric, who seemed to be conversing with Lady Violet now. She rolled her eyes playfully at Prince Wulfric's admonishment, though her mischievous smile remained intact. "Oh, I'm just providing some much-needed entertainment for your esteemed guard, my dear prince," she replied with a teasing tone. "Before you appeared, the people before use were simply being downright rude. I simply chose a different approach. Is that so wrong?" She smirked slightly at the man, receiving a warning look from her uncle. Mina, however, was not one to cower before a prince nor would she hold her tongue. She was more keen on treating royalty just as she would treat anyone else around her. "After all, what's a tea party without a little excitement?"

When he mentioned Princess Sadie, Mina's eyes lit up with curiosity. "Oh, is she now? Well, I wouldn't want to disappoint the princess. Shall I head over there now or did you wish to join me, Prince Wulfric? I do not mind waiting." She said before glancing at Violet, taking in her strange appearance.

“Lady Violet, you look quite lovely today.” She said in kind greeting to the woman.

As Sjan-dehk wandered through the ever-growing crowd of beach-goers, thoughts of his nightmare faded away until they were little more than a quiet presence lingering in the back of his head. Carefree mirth and light-hearted cheer took their place, borne out of the merriment thick in the atmosphere around him. There were even a few familiar faces amidst the crowd. Some were the Sudah’s crew – easily noticeable thanks to their clothes – who were likely here out of curiosity, just like him. Others were newer friends, namely the fisherfolk whom his Sada Kurau had escorted out to sea the previous morning. He tipped his hat to a few he passed, and they smiled at him in return.

“Good morning, Captain,” one of them, a youth growing his first whiskers, greeted. “Thanks again for your help yesterday. Never thought I’d see the day Aislin and her da be happy about our catch.”

“It is no problem,” Sjan-dehk replied, and they parted ways. There wasn’t any need for gratitude, if he was to be completely honest. As far as he was concerned, his Sada Kurau had done nothing. The pirates here were little more than robbers in skiffs – from what he had seen, at least – and were easily deterred by the Sada Kurau’s presence alone. His crew didn’t even need to roll out the guns; the more daring pirates had been scared off by a few blasts of the swivel guns. Sjan-dehk doubted they even had to hit anything.

But none of that mattered, really. He had gained some measure of the fisherfolk’s trust, and that was all he had aimed for. It would go a long way towards making obtaining provisions that much easier.

Sjan-dehk continued making his way through the crowd. The sweet and inviting scent of fruits wafted past his nose, and suddenly he found himself craving something refreshing. Perhaps he could find something close to the honeyed melons and juicy peaches of Jafi. Or perhaps, he could find out just where everyone was getting the drinks they were holding. Sjan-dehk didn’t quite recognise what it was – it looked like juice, but a little thicker in consistency – but he knew he wanted to give it a try.

Finding out where it came from was the tricky bit. As he quickly found out, stopping strangers amidst such a crowd was a challenge in and of itself. Being as armed as he was likely didn’t help at all, and most gave him a wide berth even if he did offer them a friendly smile and tip of his hat.

Thankfully, he saw a man holding such a drink just standing around. His attire seemed overly warm for the heat of the morning sun, but Sjan-dehk supposed he was in no position to talk. Using both his words and a few gentle pushes, he briskly made his way through the sea of people towards the man. “Excuse me,” he said once he was sure he was in earshot, giving the man a friendly smile. He pushed the brim of his hat up to show more of his face. “I ah…I was wondering if you know where I can find–”

It was only then did he realise that there was a woman there with them, and that he had likely interrupted a conversation.

A flush of embarrassment crept up his cheeks. How could he have been so foolish to have been so fixated on a mere drink. “My apologies,” he said to the man before turning to face the woman. Right away, he was taken by how her dark hair and pale skin reminded him of his youngest sister. That thought didn’t last long before he mentally shook it away, however. “I did not see you. Rude of me. Please, accept my ah…My most true? Yes, most true, apologies.”

“Alexander. Though I can't see you, I-” Lianna was cut off as she heard King Danrose announce his presence. She was wise to keep quiet for the regal host, especially as he seemed to show off his presence as if it were a dazzling outfit. Meanwhile, Alexander was only trying to silently calm his nerves after his wife's instigation on the matter of Violet Damien. He knew she meant well as she attempted to minimize what he felt for the afflicted Violet Damien. These feelings would do Alexander no good if he ever did have a face-to-face with the young woman. Lianna simply lacked empathy toward him, which Alexander could forgive due to her inability to see what he saw this morning. To see what he had seen a decade ago.

There was only a brief break from focus when he realized the Prince of Onions was Prince Callum Danrose. Really? Him? The man was a bit taken aback as he did not imagine him being this dysfunctional.

“I will be fine. I think I'd feel better meeting and greeting more of the guests.” Alexander's expression still appeared pensive, even when Lianna slightly squeezed his hand.

“Then that is what I would love for you to do. And…” She was going to apologize but held it back. She didn't want to reinforce his ill reaction to Violet. That child will not be his ruin. “Enjoy yourself.”

“Will do.” He kissed her hand once more before standing up. “I won't be long.” His winning smile returned before he departed from the table with a person of interest in mind.

Anastasia Danrose.

Caesonian Princess and someone Marek made mention of. Alone with an air of openness. Perfect. He was half of the way to her when he stepped on a rather plump cherry that conveniently rolled into his path. Abruptly stopping, he accidentally stood in the way of another.

“Ugh… Oof!” He felt her bump into him. “I-” Alexander's eyes were met with the face of the red-haired woman who had previously captured his attention. He was completely still for a moment as he took in her presence while she was up so close. “I humbly apologize for my clumsiness. I… I got distracted.” He held a dreamy gaze as he locked eyes with her, admiring the vibrant blue belonging to them.

“Alexander Deacon, vice president of the Black Rose Trading Company. A pleasure bumping into you.”

Farim witnessed Charlotte rise up and approach the rather interestingly dressed gentleman. He gave her a wave, although she likely wouldn't see it, and extended the greeting to the man should he choose to gaze his way. Then it was him, Lorenzo, Olivia, and the after-stench of what he assumed was Lorenzo's breakfast. His wave to them was useds stratetgically to waft any errant smells away from his face as Olivia spoke to him. With his attention now on her, he flashed another charisma-packed smile at her and took a brief pause to think on her flurry of energetic inquiries.

"Well for starters, some water would not be bad. I often overlook such things since I am so used to the heat. In regards to the beauty of the night sky, yes you are right in every way. The sand seems almost muted in comparison to the brilliant cascade of bright dots along the black canvas of the night. It makes night travel somewhat tranquil when you are not in some dangerous area filled with scorpions or gods forbid snakes." With a light chuckle he would then take whatever water bottle she would offer and take a firm drink from it, likely spilling some of it down his neck as he raised his head. Perhaps he was thirstier than he let on, since after finishing said drink he would let out a pleased sigh.

"Gemstones...hmmm. Well rubies and diamonds are the popular bunch. A few sapphires and emeralds here and there. I've even seen some obsidian in some of the cave networks in a few certain key spots. I will not tell though...my little secret." He winked and let out a single chuckle. "I am good on sandwiches for now, perhaps in a little while once the first one has made its course. I am curious about something myself." His gaze now shifted from her, and a finger pointed towards the ongoing scene of a cow-licked blondie somewhat covered in seaweed either being harassed or harassing the local youth. He was not sure which. Then to make things even stranger there was a woman with two different colored eyes screaming at the top of her lungs about sharks. The two seemed to be getting along just fine so he did not wish to interupt, but his curiosity was rather palpable. "Do you happen to know them or what it is they may be doing?" The distance between them was noted as she got closer, and Farim certainly did not mind one bit.

"Also. You seem mighty curious about me but I have yet to hear much about you, Olivia. Think you have any fun bits you wish to share with me?" He turned and continued smiling, giving her a chance to answer his own array of questions.

Lorenzo winced before yet another fart escaped from between his butt cheeks. He didn't want it to escape but it was either that or succumbing to the pain of holding it in. He had regrettably eaten too many baked beans for breakfast. Lorenzo wanted to blame Gilbert but it was he who indulged in seconds and thirds. Gilbert, why?! He declined from shifting his position, even if it caused others to suffer the wrath of his repeated bursts of flatulence.

Each fart that came next became louder and louder with each escape. He wanted to apologize but he also imagined the farts weren't as loud as they were. And so, the duke remained in the prone position, assaulting the beach with a biological gas that he could no longer control.

“Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrp!” That one sounded wet. It was one he couldn't ignore, making him finally stand up and look at whoever was left in his company.

“Sorry. I'm not myself this morning.” He apologized as he decided it might be best to take a walk so he didn't end up disrespecting the Alidasht or make Olivia despise him. He and the family friend hadn't known much of each other and Lorenzo felt it would be best if his lasting impressions weren't caused by the after-effects of early morning baked beans. “I'm going to take a walk. Please watch my things and make sure the doctor there doesn't harm Charlotte.” Lorenzo was aware his words might draw some skepticism so he doubled down. “I witnessed him smacking a peasant girl at the theater. I won't be long.” Lorenzo winced as he held in another fart before taking very small steps away from the blanket. “Brrrp!” Lorenzo began to hurry faster and rounded the blanket to go toward the water. When he had enough distance, Lorenzo lengthened his stride, not caring about what escaped with every other step.

Once he reached the low tides of the waters he plopped down with his legs curled up to his chest. He looked like a child too afraid to go into the water while wanting to enjoy its coolness. “Ooh it's nice… brrrp! Oh, that stinks. Brrrp! Please go away. Come on. Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrp! Please!”

Time: Morning
Location: Papa Edin’s big important tea party!
Interactions: Edin @Princess
Mentions: Wulfric @Silverpaw

The music of the courtyard shifted, and the entrance of the king was announced without words. Before the man himself was seen, a parade of the kingdom's most beautiful faces and highly skilled dancers proceed Edin. The young prince watched, waited, and felt anticipation run like a live current through his veins.

Cal did the last thing anyone who knew him would expect; he clapped with unbridled enthusiasm upon Edin’s big grand entrance.

“Yes, indulge in the decadence of this city’s finest confections.” Callum, rather loudly, spoke up, building off the king’s words. He continued the performative applause as he paced around the king and his knights in a wide circle, weaving through tables.

“What a delightful kingdom, what an exquisite king.” He added and abruptly stopped clapping. He felt his eldest brother’s eyes burning through him from the moment Cal had spat air through the trumpet, so when his pacing brought him close to his brother’s table, he offered a twisted smile. He doubted even Wulfric could guess his plan for this event.

“And as we all indulge, let’s remember that in a kingdom that so easily offers every extravagance and comfort imaginable, we still have so many who can’t afford bread, let alone cakes.” Cal glanced around at not only Sorian’s but the world’s most fortunate people. He forced himself to smile as he continued on with his performance.

“But what a generous king we have, and my heart swells to announce that my father is here to make a commitment to feeding Caesonia’s people. A commitment to fund stalls that will feed people free of charge, and to make events like Pancakes in the Park a more permanent feature. A weekly event, where one of the city’s masters of the culinary arts will feature their most extravagant dishes for the public, free of charge, so that every Caesonian will have the chance to indulge with us. In all of history, never has a king’s generosity matched what His Royal Majesty has envisioned. Please, a round of applause for such a noble king.”

Callum attempted to back Edin into a corner. The prince left the king with few options; sure Edin could go right ahead and call Cal a liar, show the world that every nice thing Callum had just said about his father was a lie, and let the world see a glimpse of the true Edin. Or the king could embrace the lie Cal had told, accept the applause and reputation boost Callum had offered up. Either option was one Cal could use, but a public agreement from Edin to do more to feed the people, was worth not only the performance but the foul taste of making false claims of generosity on his father's behalf.

Cal was almost certain Edin would choose a lie that stroked the ego over truth any day.

Callum then looked directly into Edin’s eyes and felt not even a hint of the fear that used to bubble up. The fear was gone, only hatred remained. “Sincerest apologies for the early announcement, but this just felt like the perfect moment, and now all these wonderful people can better celebrate your kind spirit.” Callum bowed and smiled as he waited for Edin’s response, but nothing in the young prince’s eyes matched his tone. There was only hate as he met Edin’s eyes, and an attempt to stare at the king with the somber and disapproving expression Cal often saw in portraits of George.

“Gossip can be useful, my lady,” Wulfric commented mildly. Her resentment of the concept did not go unnoticed. After the unsavory rumours concerning her (supposed) meeting with Lord Ravenwood on a balcony at the ball, that was understandable. Her new scars surely added to her caution – from what he’d gathered, she’d always been self-conscious about the ones she’d gained in her childhood. “However, my primary interest is in factual information,” he corrected.

He inclined his head at the provided explanation of her heightened hearing. “No doubt it will take time to adjust to. But you seem more than ready to tackle the challenge,” he complimented. He hadn’t expected for her to be out and about. Either she should still be recovering from her injuries…or else she ought to be dead.

But surely, as strange as the Damiens’ story was, surely the alternative that she had been killed was not viable?

“Well, he is only beginning to learn.” Regretfully, Wulfric suspected that this trumpet prank of Callum’s might become a favourite.

Before the two made even one step towards a table, Lady Mina turned to him with her cheeky remarks. “Wystan is on duty,” he noted, no-nonsense. He then decided to repay her banter in kind. “But if you are so liberal with your free time, perhaps you do not understand the notion?” Subtly, he needled her with the suggestion that her hedonistic tendencies often came in the way of the responsibilities she had as a future countess.

“Your approach of holding up the line is likelier a cause for further impatience,” he drawled dryly. Possibly, she did not realize, but exchanges of witticisms and barbed comments were one of his favoured pastimes.

Suddenly, chatter all around was silenced at the announcement of the king’s arrival. As dancers weaved in between the crowd, he gave Mina a knowing look. “Here is your much awaited excitement. Do enjoy.” She indicated that she would head to Sadie’s table, but Wulfric politely declined the invitation. “I will come by later to greet her.”

With that, he escorted Lady Violet to a table of her choice. In the background, his father was beginning a speech, one familiar enough the prince could afford to half-listen at best.

To Violet’s question, he gave an equally blunt answer. “Why, your father, of course.” He paused a moment for effect, and to see if she would react or respond in any way.

Then, he continued. “He was awfully distressed thinking you had died, of course. To the relief of all, you lived. However, someone is clearly intent on doing you ill.” Concise and a tad vague, he told her a bit of her parents’ story. He didn’t know if she’d been informed of the dead lookalike, but refrained from mentioning it. Violet herself was being scarce on the details of her attack. “If you can’t think of any enemies of yours, you might consider who your father’s are.” Calbert thought a peasant was the cause of it all, but that was highly questionable.

While they were conversing, the king’s speech had finally concluded. Callum passed his table with a smile promising trouble, and Wulfric arched an eyebrow at him. So, he wasn’t done for today yet.

He observed, curious. His initial wariness was soon replaced by surprise. No, he certainly hadn’t anticipated that. Especially not after Callum’s heartfelt and dramatic proclamations that he didn’t want to get involved in any of this.

But look at him now. Complimenting their father, and even having it seem genuine. Using the influence and opinion of everyone present to pressure the king. Making a show of it all.

Forceful, bold, ambitious, and boasting.

Wasn’t he quite the budding politician?

Concerned for welfare, are you?

Wulfric didn’t especially care one way or the other. While he was reluctant to admit it, as far as doing ‘something better’ went, this was applicable. He’d been thinking of finding such a thing for Callum, but his brother had shown unexpected initiative.

Usually, he’d simply let father and Callum resolve their little spat however they would.

Might as well take this opportunity. Wulfric sighed. He didn’t much favour it, but this would provide him an occasion to show his brother the actual work entailed in realizing even a fraction of his idea.

“Please excuse me, politics calls. I will return shortly.” He gave Violet his apologies, and stood up.

He began clapping, but rather than for the king, this was intended for Callum, even if no one else knew it. With slow, purposeful steps, he made his way to where his relatives faced off. “Your Majesty, how marvelous.” It was his father he addressed first, oozing charm. He wondered if his heir’s involvement would be startling to the old man.

Wulfric added onto Callum’s lie. “I recall you considered something similar to the Pancakes at the Park event, since that one suffered due to unfortunate outside interference.” This morning’s paper had blamed Lorenzo for the occurrence. So would many who had read it. Even Edin might be baited into wanting to show up the miserable duke. As for the unfortunate Vikena? Wulfric doubted his reputation could possibly be more damaged. He could take it.

“And to add even further iterations? That would be a good chance for anyone who wishes to showcase their work to a larger populace.”

Was that the why his brother had brought Ezra along? Why did it have to be him?

I should remove the menace before he shows his true colours. Ignoring his idle death wish for the baker, he turned to Callum with a challenging smile.

“You are very eager today, brother.” Since his youngest sibling was slipping into a ferocious scowl, Wulfric moved close enough to ruffle his hair. “If you have so much energy to spare, I expect you can take charge of the very next charity, hm?” Callum might think it was simple, but it wasn’t.

Quietly enough so only his brother would hear, he added, “I hope you are ready to delve into the intricacies of planning, management, financing, and politicking.” He tilted his head thoughtfully, then said, “Oh, and paperwork.”

Ariella felt an overwhelming urge to submerge herself in the waters that stretched before her. The beach had been an elusive luxury in her life lately, and now, basking in the sun's warm embrace, she relished every moment. As the cold waves gently caressed her toes, a smile spread across her face, reflecting the pure joy she experienced.

Her recent time spent with Callum had sparked new thoughts, causing her to question her definition of home.

The manor, though always referred to as her home, suddenly felt like an empty title. While the chill of the water seemed to call to her, inviting her to return to its depths, as if the very elements of the world were urging her to embrace her true home. She felt at ease amidst nature's raw elements and nothing had really come close to it.

Lost in her thoughts, Ariella was brought back to reality by the sound of Dali's voice behind her. Although she respected the man, he could be a handful, especially so early in the morning. Ignoring his call, she practiced the art of appearing oblivious, a skill her mother had taught her on a few occasions.

Kneeling by the gentle tide, Ariella felt the sand slipping through her fingers with each ebb and flow of the waves. Doubts gnawed at her, wondering if her plan was wise. The spell she intended to cast was simple, but it still could alter memories. Although the magic itself was complicated people forgot things all the time. All she needed to do was make her forget the small events from that day so Ari could keep on being herself.

and keep returning to her home.

Grasping her shoes, Ariella decided to venture towards a cluster of people, spotting Duke Vikena seated in the sand, a hint of fear etched on his face as he seemed to mutter to himself.

Her mother's past with the duke was common knowledge, and though she held no fondness for him, she wondered if anyone truly mattered to her – perhaps her father's wealth and her own reflection were her only true concerns.

Approaching the duke cautiously, Ariella stopped beside him and offered a warm smile, her voice tinged with genuine concern. "Are you doing alright, Duke Vikena?" she inquired curiously. “You don't look so well…” her voice dropped to near a whisper. However, the long she stayed the longer the smell rose to her nose.

Eyes widening slightly Ariella could tell the Duke was certainly struggling with something. She reached into the small bag that hung around her waist and pulled out a satchel. It smelts strongly of herbs and spices as she reached down and extended it out towards the Duke. “ If you use this in some freshwater you will feel much better…It just won’t taste great but I promise it works.”

Sounds of rolling waves drifted gently through the warm waters that surrounded Roman. With only the sound of small bubbles escaping from him on their climb to the surface to bother these fleeting calming moments. It was serenity, not a worry or pain confronted him for the brief moments he was able to hold his breath. Finding the bottom of the sandy coast or muddy lakebeds just as peaceful as the bleak mountain tops of the far north, where most mountains have no names and most cannot reach the top.

The calm was interrupted by the growing burning sensation in his chest. The need to breath bringing him back to the surface. With a mighty push from the sandy floor he soon found himself on the surface again. He had swum around out here for some time and could feel himself begin to need a drink. The commotion at the shore seemed to have dissipated while he swam back. It was only after he got himself out of the water did he notice the small gathering of familiar faces.

Dr. John seemed to have found the relative company of few others, he recognized lady charlotte and one of the Alidasht Farim accompanied by another girl that looked familiar but he met many people so that didn’t mean much and a few others he could not recognize. It seemed the infamous Duke Lorenzo was enjoying himself by the waters edge with another young lady he did not recognize. A sudden shriek caught his attention to his left as he recognized the blonde hair of one of the party’s attendees Kazoo he was sure of with Ruby nearby. That one was a hard one to miss, separate eye colors were positively unique. She was one of the funniest personalities he encountered in the tough tavern on some of his past stays in this city.

Those two seemed like they were having quite the moment and didn’t feel up to interrupting what looked to be a bonding moment. Instead he decided to go see what the good Dr. was up to other than obviously enjoying a break. Always the professional to be at the beach wearing that attire. He wouldn’t mind talking to the others either, it wasn’t too often he had the chance to do so when not in a professional setting of some sort.

Roman confidently approached the group with a smile, it was always good to have friends even if he didn’t get to talk to them too often. His time spent swimming had relaxed him and he was in a very good mood especially with the plans for the evening that so far did not have any complications.

Stopping just within the acceptable bubble of the group he was always thoughtful of not wanting to be too intimidating with his size especially now that he was wearing effectively just undergarments that still dripped water off them.

“Hello friends, enjoying the beach so far? Always a pleasure to see you Farim and Charlotte.”

Roman gave a respectful nod to both of them and john but did not know the other two. He had a few dealings in the past with Farim but mostly in the presence of his father when negotiating trade deals or delivering personally requested items for the sultan or his children. He so far had not had too many instances to get to know the man personally.

The air hung heavy with the scent of roses and secrets as the guests continued to filter into the event. Violet carefully reached for the tea that the attendant had arranged before her. Her long, pale fingers trembled slightly as she lifted the cup to her lips, unsure of how her palate might react to the drink. Sipping the soft, floral tea, she found it lacking, neither satisfying nor quenching her. With a hint of disappointment, she set the cup back on her plate, crimson lips stained with a smile that concealed her true nature.

Her attention shifted to Prince Wulfric, probing for answers she was not yet ready to reveal. As he sought factual information, Violet's guard surged, the shadows within her growing darker and more enigmatic. Suspicion loomed in her crimson eyes as she pondered his intentions, detecting no clear purpose behind his inquiries. It was as if he sought to wield the knowledge he sought as a weapon—a weapon that might be turned against her, her family, or perhaps for something far more ominous.

A deadly dance of deceit played out within her mind as she weighed the consequences of divulging her secrets. She possessed knowledge that surpassed what most knew, but something didn't sit right in her mind. Her instincts warned her to withhold her truths, for sharing them might lead to devastation and chaos and she wasn’t ready for that.

Yet.

Amidst the dimly lit garden, the King's speech was interrupted once more by Prince Callum's commentary, providing Violet with a moment of silence to carefully choose her words. With an air of detachment, she thought of how to reply to Prince Wulfric, trying to conceal her unease.

The recent attack in the park had revealed that there were malevolent forces plotting against her, their motives shrouded in uncertainty. Violet considered the possibility that Prince Wulfric's suspicion of her father's enemies might hold some truth. However, the clues were but fragments of a puzzle, still leaving her wandering aimlessly in the shadows of her own past trying to find them.

“Yes, such a relief,” she said rather bluntly, her tone was void of much emotion. “ I can feel the relief of people as we speak,” she said sarcastically as the eyes of strangers still lingered on her, creating a sense of unease for Violet as she reached for her tea once again.

Before she could continue her conversation, he seemed to lose interest in her, captivated by his family's own squabbles. Violet couldn't help but feel an eerie sense of dĂŠjĂ  vu as if this was not the first time he had abandoned a conversation prematurely.

Faking a smile as Prince Wulfric departed. “Of course, please enjoy your morning.”

Violet was left alone in the midst of the unsettling event. The people around her were a reminder of the temptation that haunted her. She took a breath, attempting to suppress her ravenous thirst for the sweet, coppery essence of life pulsing within them. She knew better than to indulge in such a feast in the presence of so many witnesses, but even then the idea of blood and another person. It caused an overwhelming sense of disgust to flood over her. Drawing a long sip from her tea, the taste of blood still lingered on her lips, teasing and tormenting her with its haunting flavor. Oh, how she craved more of it, It lingered in her belly like a quiet animal slumbering. She feared it may wake at some point and that stirred a lot of fear inside of her.

Could she control the beast that lurked, and did she even want to control it?

While sitting in contemplation, her lips still lingering against the teacup as she held it in her hand, her attendant returned back with a letter.

“ Lady Damien, This arrived for you earlier in the morning. I felt now would be the best time to share it.” He held it nervously in his hands as he fiddled with the edges of the sealed envelope. “ With your lack of - with your eyes…” he stuttered on his words unaware of how to delicately speak to her regarding her ailments.

“Yes, please just open it and read it to me if you don’t mind.” Violet interrupted the stuttering boy. He nodded and did as she asked opening it up and unfolding the letter inside.

The boy paused as he read the last line, feeling slightly uncomfortable he awkwardly read it out loud however his voice dropped to a slight whisper in fear someone would overhear.

“P.S. Your scars are still beautiful and they don’t diminish your worth.”

A genuine smile spread on her lips as the boy set the letter on the table beside her teacup. Violet placed a hand on the letter securing it by putting it inside the small bag that she had around her hip. Her mood seemed to change slightly but faded as she remember that ball she would need to attend.

She wondered if Lord Ravenwood would attend her father's event or if she would need to somehow sneak away. Either way, she would find a way to see her friend.

“Please fetch me a paper and a quill so I may respond, would you mind delivering this letter to someone who can be sure Lord Ravenwood would receive it?”

The boy nodded “ Yes Lady Damien” and with that, he scurried off.

Seeing Ruby jump into actions and so willing to help back him up was heartwarming and just the thing needed to perk Kazu up. Even when afraid she did so or for him at the very least.

The cowlicked blonde had hoped to run into his fellow blonde friend after being deprived of that multi-eyed colored face which seemed to be more dazzling. Blindingly so in fa- and that was the sun..no that was her hair? Guess his vision was still a bit hazy from the blow to his groin.

" Indeed I did. I always had faith the ocean goddess or god..gods...eh I'll just say it was otto's blessing for this good fortune. What's the worse that could happen." Shrugging his shoulders with a dismissive wave as he remained lying there on his back, small waves of water bubbling and splashing along his body.

Tilting his head back to look up at his excitable friend catching what she said, her words having him peer up at her through his hands as if looking through a camera." Hm...yes..yes I see it. And I would be lying if I didn't admit you'd make for a very pretty octopus, too pretty I'm afraid. A beauty that draws all in, a loss the sea would be amiss to have your such that I dare not take away, so I ask of you....please spare us!" Turning onto his side covering his eyes.

" Look away, Otto lest ye be taken by her tentacly charms!" HIs free hand covering the octopus slimy eyes briefly before slithering his way onto his head. The sensation of its tentacles and Kazu's attempts to hold in his laughter became too much making him laugh giddily at his little show.

Only stopping after being asked about the fish net and their uses which prompted the laughing blonde to shoot up into a sitting position with a wide toothy grin." Right! The fish!" Rolling onto hands and knees to crawl to the squirming net where he lifted the upper half up then patted it." I'm glad you asked, my dear Ruby. What you see here is my secret weapon, one that promises a night these stuck-up prudes will never forget. (goes without saying this applies to those not his friends)" Wringing his hands and softly snickering like a mad scientist.

From laughing like a mustchachiod villain to leaning against the net with his right arm propped up by the elbow." But that's for later. Anywhosit, enough about me. How's you been Rubester? I bet you got plenty adventures of your own since we last hung out?" Kazu asked, eager to catch up on things before anything else.

“Please, please, please gods let this pass. I'll never indulge in gluttony again. I'll give away the extra beans to the homeless. Please, please, please, please.” Lorenzo muttered as the farts continued to flow out one at a time. There were many in line and only one exit. He wished he could just release one incredible fart so he could be free of this slow and steady embarrassment.

Why couldn't today be as peaceful as yesterday? Why did it have to be me? Why were the beans so tasty, Gilbert?

He grimaced as he let the sand beneath his backside take the full brunt of his gaseous assault. Ariella's approach went unnoticed as the duke found himself immersed in his regretful thoughts.

“You don't look so well…” Her words broke through but he kept his eyes forward. Though sympathy was comforting, it wouldn't change his current situation. Why couldn't he just be glad that "Charlotte" had come to check on him? It might have given him at least an ounce of reprieve after things had been so tense between them. Lottie…

He shifted his gaze finally when the satchel was extended to him. “If you use this in some freshwater you will feel much better…It just won’t taste great but I promise it works.”

“Oh, thank you, Lottie. I-I don't know how you had this but-” Lorenzo's gaze had finally found the pleasant face of Ariella. It was indeed not Charlotte in the white dress that he caught in his peripheral. “Ariella? Ariella Edwards?” In utter disbelief, the strange duke just stared for a moment as if his sight might reveal her to be someone else. He managed a thankful smile, though he still found the kind gesture out of place from the daughter of his nemesis. Did she not share her mother's feelings? Perhaps she wasn't an accomplice to the vain tormentor but instead, a victim like he was. Like Charlotte was.

“Where are my manners? I'm extremely grateful for-” he winced slightly to hold back a fart. It wouldn't do him any good if he scared the young lady off. “-giving me this. I don't have much to repay you with on my person,” He snapped the waistband of his speedo, “but we have plenty of refreshments at our blanket.” Lorenzo nodded his head, looked at the satchel, and decided to stand up. “Come. We can chit-chat and walk over. Your friend Farim is there too.” He didn't give her much of an option as he waved the way forward and proceeded.

Looking ahead, he noticed a larger group than what he left. Like flies... Noooooo.

"Oh don't worry, we get compared to gods all the time." John burst out in a chuckle as soon as he heard Charlotte's praise. "You know, every time we saved someone's life, they wipe the sweat off their and their relative's foreheads and bowed their head thanking god for saving them. I am very honored to be so revered." The casualness accompanied the snark, but it was more joking than snorting at Charlotte. If that wasn't clear enough...

"For serious though, thank you. Our work is sometimes thankless, so I am glad to know there's someone out there who appreciate what we do."

From his experience, if the patients was not aware of his...more prestigious status, they tended to be more thankful. Jealously and spite are still pretty widespread, even in more humble and progressive societies.

From then on, quite a few more people began to show up. The first being this handsome gentleman with an...intriguing attire. He had never seen this outfit before, not to mention the abnormally large hat, bigger than the ladies hats that he had seen. But it went off well with one another in an exotic way, so it's much less likely some artist and designer having a stroke of wildness, but rather this is a foreigner from neither Alidasht or any of the smaller colonies from the three kingdoms. If the weird phrasing hadn't given it away.

"Don't sweat it." John raised a hand in response. "How may I help you sir?"

The second being Roman, whose greetings, like usual, was short but respectful. John returned the gesture with his own, similar in intensity, similar in regard. Seeing how Charlotte was interested in getting herself a drink, John decided to go back to the food stalls, but not before checking with the two (and maybe three) in the group.

"I can get you one then." He said to Charlotte. "Which flavours would you like? They can mix and match, so the fruits of preference would be fine." Turning over to Roman and the gentleman from afar. "You can let me know too in case you want a drink. It's really good on a hot summer day, I will tell you that."

((Can assume that John gets back after a few minutes. Don't need to wait for another round))

Time: Morning
Location: Papa Edin’s big important tea party!
Interactions: Wulfric @Silverpaw

Why was Wulfric walking over here? Callum caught sight of his brother’s movement. If anything he expected a subdued reaction of disappointment, or annoyance, from his eldest brother. Wulfric wasn’t supposed to join in.

Mind your business Wulfy. But Wulfric was not minding his own business, instead he was helping, and that was probably the most irritating thing Wulfric could do. He had only a blank stare to greet his brother with now. Doubt crept in; if Wulfric was in favor of this, had Callum made the wrong move?

I did not ask for your help. The aggravation only built. This was his supposed to his move, all on his own, and having it backed up by someone in league with Edin was ruining it.

“If you have so much energy to spare, I expect you can take charge of the very next charity, hm?”

Wulfric went too far, ruffling his hair. Callum moved to swat his brother’s hand away from his head because if they weren’t playing by ‘hands to yourself’ rules he wasn’t taking that.

The younger brother’s sluggish reflexes coupled with the elder brother’s far quicker reaction times, prevented him from making contact. Probably best not to assault the heir at a public event, no matter how annoying a brother he was.

“It would be an honor to serve the people.” He said it as cordially as possible, and he knew he couldn’t let his animosity toward Wulfric ruin what he wanted to see done. Like he couldn’t handle organizing a charity event? How hard could it even be; a bunch of people give you money, and then you give that money back to other people. Simple.

“Leaving Lady Damien’s side just to chat me up? This is exactly why you don’t have a wife yet, Wulfy.” Cal only smiled, as politely as he could, and whispered back a snide remark to his brother, who seemed to be trying to get him to back down with threats of paperwork.

Ariella felt a look of confusion on her face as he referred to her as Lottie, she imagined he was confusing her with Charlotte. It wasn’t until the Duke's eyes met with hers that the look of confusion softened to a smile.

She nodded as he said her name “ Yes, Lady Ariella Edwards.” she smiled.

“Where are my manners? I'm extremely grateful for-”

Ariella shook her head “ Oh, you don’t need to repay me … I normally just carry some herbs and such for cuts and scrapes. Just so happens they are also good for upset stomachs” Her eyes widened slightly as he snapped the band on his speedo as she didn’t realize just how revealing his swim outfit was. Awkwardly Ariella adverted her gaze as he started to stand up, nodding at his suggestion for the walk.

She stood up and walked alongside him, carrying her shoes in her hands still as her feet continued to sink into the sand.

She looked up to see the large group laughing and conversating. She looked back over at Lorenzo “ Do you find yourself on many beaches lately, Duke Vienka?” she asked curiously. She had heard some terrible things about the man in fact it was one of her mother's favorite pass times. Ariella never held the same distaste for people. She always stood in the mindset that each person deserved a chance to show who they were and her mother's notion of people tended to be incorrect for the most part.

Mina's eyes flickered with amusement as she prepared to retort to Wulfric's no-nonsense response. His quip towards her lack of responsibility simply had her smirking as it only proved he was blissfully unaware of the truth of her escapades. However, before she could reply, her attention was quickly stolen by the grand entrance of King Edin. The spectacle before her was both impressive and ostentatious, and she couldn't help but be captivated by the charisma, or lack thereof, of the monarch. As the king made his way to his throne, Mina found herself drawn into his performance, though she couldn't help but notice the forced smiles of some of his servants. It seemed Prince Callum was also determined to cause chaos of his own and she couldn’t keep a small giggle from escaping her lips.

As the commotion settled, Mina decided it was time to leave Wulfric's company, bidding both him and Violet farewell as they headed towards a table, and explored the party further. Her uncle had gone and found a place in the shade at a table with some noble women, all of whom seemed to be entranced by the rather handsome count. She was curious to meet some of the other guests, especially Sadie whom she’d yet had the chance to spend time with since they all got to Caesonia. As she made her way through the crowd, she suddenly bumped into a man who seemed rather dazed from stepping on a cherry.

”Oh, I’m so sorry!” Mina gasped at the accidental collision, being thrown off balance and almost losing her footing, yet she caught herself just in time. Her eyes widened slightly as she looked up at the man in front of her. There was something strangely familiar about him, something that tugged at her heartstrings in a way she couldn't explain. His dreamy gaze captivated her, and she found herself momentarily lost for words.

"Alexander Deacon," she repeated softly, a small smile playing on her lips. "Mina Blackwood, future Countess of Kolonivka. The pleasure is mine, Mr. Deacon. I do apologize for being quite clumsy this morning." She extended her hand, her heart still fluttering with an inexplicable sense of familiarity. "You seem oddly familiar to me. Have we met before?" She knew she was usually incredibly good at remembering names and she was almost positive she hadn’t heard his before, yet there was always a chance a name could slip her mind.

At Callum's disgruntled expression, Wulfric removed his hand. His brother was too slow, his arm flailing though the air ineffectively. Clearly, his brother was sulking about having his grand moment hijacked. “Energetic,” he repeated, chuckling lightly.

Really, didn’t he know this was for his own good?

Brotherly banter was all fine and good, but overt antagonism was terrible for public image. Never mind airing out personal grievances against the king. That hateful expression of his had had to go.

If he wanted to be taken seriously, his brother had to start paying attention. Not just to Edin; to all his audience, and to how he was perceived by it. After all, the only ones willing to back a fool would be those seeking to exploit him.

Callum still knew nothing about anything.

No doubt his brother imagined money could be conjured from nothing, or perhaps suckered entirely from overly idealistic entities who thought they had the gold to spare.

No matter.

If he did not know, he could learn. He could be taught.

Even if his vision was utterly naĂŻve and nonsensical, he could see realized a more grounded version of it.

If he was finally taking an active interest in at least one part of governing, he could yet be made into a proper prince.

“Excellent.” Receiving his brother’s affirmative, Wulfric smiled sharply. His piercing gaze was as intent as ever, but something strangely akin to enthusiasm gleamed within.

“Now then…” He took a step towards his seating area when Callum had another choice remark for him.

Wulfric turned an amused, haughty look his brother’s way. “Cute.” Evidently, the insult didn’t bother him at all. “Whoever cannot appreciate my priorities is hardly worthwhile, however,” he commented.

Since they were apparently exchanging unwanted advice, he imparted some of his own. “And you should prioritize that charity of yours. I suggest you start by using this event to identify potential backers.” He took another step forward, eyes sweeping the crowd before settling on Callum one last time.

“You’d best tone down on the pledges given in another’s name. If you can’t ensure what you claim, it will be your responsibility. Not the king’s. If your promises are vain, you will appear unreliable at best, a malicious liar at worst,” he stated seriously. Only in part was this a rebuke for Callum having neglected the promise he had given him. Mostly, it was a warning not to underestimate Edin, nor to take politics lightly.

After a respectful bow in his father’s direction to excuse himself from the scene, he returned to Violet’s side. “Again, my apologies for the abrupt departure,” he told her with a smile she couldn’t see, and took a seat.

He motioned a nearby servant to pour him a cup of black tea. “You know, I did notice some guests giving you strange looks. Do you have a sixth sense for such things now?” he wondered, torn between curiosity and mild amusement.

“However, there is no need for you to pay them any mind. It is natural they would wonder, for there were no news nor public announcements of your attack. So, for you to suddenly appear injured is bound to rouse shock and speculation.” His cup had been prepared, so he dismissed the servant with a nod. He paused to sip at the tea, which was at the perfect temperature. He released a sigh of contentment, and after another sip, set the cup on its saucer.

“Returning to our previous topic…Do you have any suspects in mind? I am afraid that at the moment, there is mostly circumstantial evidence to base the investigation off of. So, if you can think of anything – anything at all – that would be helpful,” he cajoled.

Wulfric had the suspicion that her reticence was not due to distress. In fact, so far, Violet had barely shown emotion at all. It was certainly possible that her injury had caused a localized memory loss or confusion, but he wasn’t sure if that was quite right either. As he’d told her, she functioned surprisingly well. It was almost as if she was avoiding the topic of her attack for an entirely different reason.

Lorenzo ensured that he walked carefully with Ariella. He was confident he could hold everything in but he wanted to play things safe until he ingested the herbal water his new unlikely companion suggested. He'd make a side-eyes glance at her every few steps as he was still in disbelief at how kind the young woman was compared to her mother. Perhaps she is like Farim and Crystal. Good kids bred by the worst parents. What was the harm in letting his guard down?

She initiated the small talk, breaking him away from his idle thoughts. It was an innocent question, which only confirmed his new bias toward Ariella.

“Well, yes and no,” he answered unsurely, recognizing that the answer was quite confusing without context. “You see, in Veirmont, going to the beach is at least a weekly activity for me. It only comes second to gardening since I can do the latter without so many people around. Though with the beach, even if there are plenty of people, they all seem happy and at peace.”

With a quick hand gesture, Lorenzo pulled Ariella's attention toward those around his blanket. “See. Everyone is happy,” he commented as he made sure to move around those huddled and went straight for the ice box where the water and a reserve of sandwiches were kept. He grabbed a small water-filled canteen, opened it, and then clumsily filled it with the contents of the herb-filled satchel. Lorenzo managed to get most of it inside but there was a considerable amount that flew off with the wind. “Oops! Sorry if that hit anyone.” He smiled nervously before capping the canteen and shaking it up with both hands.

Looking at Ariella, he waited for her to grab any snacks or beverages available before she was ready to return to the water's edge.
