Name Ergen Ilkin Aliases Our Faith, Head of the Revolutionists, Asik, The fourths savior Age Twenty-four Physical Description Because of his thin and slender body, some people may mistake him for a shadow at night or during the day. Ergen is second to none when it comes to physical activity, as he doesn't have the average or superior musculature that most Wardana exhibit. Dominant shoulders and a slender waist, these two traits of his might not associate him with the higher rings, but his skin tone and beauty do. The only scars that have kissed his body are his past as Wardhana and his childhood tragedies. His green eyes are rare in the city and eventually, link him with most families in the upper ring. Two families are known to have such pale green, lifeless eyes. The Ilkins are one of those families and cousins to the royals who act as ships for the High King. Storm-touched His views on Stormtouch tend to differ from those of most high ringers. In his eyes, they are human, and in his youth, he was punished for thinking so. The Ilkin family is a noble family known for supplying most of the food to all rings. Naturally, they advance in ikons related to growth and food. His resentment towards most of the higher rings began when he was a child, about 12 years old, and his father took him to the lower rings to do business there. They were in the fifth ring and met a girl, he thought was the most beautiful. She had big black doe eyes and silver hair. She looked like a porcelain doll. Then he touched her and she broke down and started crying. She was a child at the mercy of the storm. Her skin was like porcelain. He tried to patch the cracks he caused to her cheek with ikons and Ergen found himself alone with the girl. Fatherless. Foolish. Eventually, he found an ikon that healed her damaged cheek and he received a faint smile from her instead.
I'm Ergen.
I'm Ceren. You aren't afraid of me?
No. Why would I be?
I'm cursed from the storm...
Why would I care about that?
With that alone, Ergen felt a grab on the back of the collar of his shirt pull him away from the girl. He saw a gust of wind from an ikon pin her to the ground and split her hand and her arm from the pressure. Her skin began to burst like falling snowflakes. A storm of voices from her father rained down. He was dragged back to the first ring, smeared, ripped, and utterly battered. His father was angry for days, but Ergen didn't understand what he did wrong, why, and what the girl did wrong. He was locked in his room for a week, only healers coming to make sure he wasn't cursed. Ergen was a stubborn child, so he decided to eat very little. When he found out that Stormtouch is allowed to starve to death at someone else's fault. Because of his family. Because of him. The seeds of fate began to change his views. Ring Ergen came from the first ring and spent most of his life in the upper rings. After the incident, when he was twelve years old, he was banned from stepping into the third ring without a guard or chaperone. His father set a strict rule that no young man should ever give in to the fifth or fourth filth ringer. He also didn't want his son to have a bad life and thought he was protecting him.
Everything changed when Ergen entered the Wardana School of Ikonomancy at the age of fourteen. Since he had previously studied Ikons, he was at the top of his class and it seemed easier to move up the ranks. At sixteen, he became an active member of Wardana, living in the third ring. During his apprenticeship and academic years, Ergen sneaked into the lower rings to help his Storm touch peers with growing food and other necessities.
Problems arose late one night when another Wardana caught him sneaking into the lower ring. The alarm was raised, and the Regia Guard and Wardana were alerted. No one knew it would be Ergen. He only remembered the dismay of his cousin's voice when his name was called. Ergen. That was when Ergen had to make a decision. A quick one. One that would change his whole life.
Don't take this personally, I'm sorry.
He then cut his finger and deliberately misguided the ikon. Ergen knew that if the wind direction wasn't right, there would be explosive dust and debris storms. A dark cloud envelops the Wardana and the entire Regia guard. Ergen was not acquitted, as the leader of the Regia Guard at the time used his own symbolism to stop him. Disappeared through a tunnel that he knew very little about, and indeed only he used. Ergen found himself in the Forgotten City beneath the Ringed City.
He spent two weeks there, mostly eating oddities and trying to recover from what the Regia Guard leader had done to him. He was in excruciating pain, vomiting blood, and his body continued to bruise. Without enough knowledge to further weaken the ikon's effect, he would die, and could not remove it from his skin. Then he found his way to the gray market and someone helped him. Since then, Ergen has been hiding somewhere in the Fourth Ring.
The ikon used on him was so evil and complicated that it took the people who helped him a whole week to get it under control. They unraveled it, but it scarred his left ribcage and a beautiful geometric pattern was kissed to his body. Beauty and suffering. The scars caused not only physical pain but also emotional pain that made it impossible to return home. He would never see his siblings again. If he wanted to, he would have to be tried for being a traitor to the Upper Ring.
Then there were moments when he didn't walk away from the gray markets protection and didn't go out at all. In the end, he decided to go for a face changer. A person who takes advantage of a false understanding of ikons to change his face. The woman in charge of the procedure was sad to ruin such a beautiful face he gave her a present, but he paid her full price. Sometimes it was difficult to get money. She had to take it, but she kept frowning throughout the process. She bleached his hair. She changed his countenance. It hurt. The pain of change was immense, but it was worth it, but she warned him nonetheless. Only his will can keep the change from fading, but the body will change over time to know the truth.
After a while, he no longer wanted to hide or hide his face. He will fight. He will fight for what he thinks is right. Ergen removed the façade with an ice storm, ripping his skin apart and ripping the falsehood from him. Another painful change occurred, but only a reminder of what he was fighting for. Who was he protecting. He would never feel a quarter of her pain and suffering.
Family Gunhan Ilkin, 54 years old, head of the Ilkin Family and in-law brother of the Regia.
Gunhan is an advanced Ikonomancer who specializes in creation and growth. Food production is what the side of the family advances in. Asya, 19 years old, is the only daughter in the Ilkin family.
Asya joined the Wardana Academy to follow in her older brother's footsteps, she wanted to be like Ergen, even though she struggles with Ikons. She is not at the top of her class, but she is a wonderful student. She has been a part of the Wardana Academy since the ripe age of fourteen and has dedicated her life to protecting the city. Kadir, is 14 years old, and the second eldest son of the Ilkin Family.
Kadir has recently come of age and has joined the Wardana Academy to learn Ikons like his ancestors before him. He is not as fluent as his eldest brother Ergen though he is learning quicker than his older sister Asya. Quickly becoming an apprentice to a Wardana leader. Koca is the youngest child of the Ilkin family and is only 12 years old.
Being the only family member except for his mother who has not participated in the Wardana Academy. Koca finds himself being a mischievous trouble marker around the second and third rings. Only in the third when he can sneak out of the second and away from everyone who is trying to "ruin" his fun. His parents worry that Koca is following in Ergen's footsteps and have applied strict boundaries for this child's life. They don't want him to follow Ergen and go by his own fate. Through the basic and advanced schooling that he is provided as a second ringer, Koca has shown that he is almost on par with learning Ikons and Ikonomancy like his eldest brother Ergen was at his age. Koca might not be the closest to his eldest brother out of all his family members, but they share the same eyes. Those pale green lifeless eyes like their father.
Name Koca Ilkin Age Twelve Physical Description Unlike the middle children of his family, Koca, and Ergen share the same eyes and very similar faces. If they were not over ten years apart, they would most likely be mistaken for twins. These two brothers share the green eyes, darker skin, and raven black hair of the Ilkin family. Their siblings however sport the maternal genetics of the line of the Regia. Sun touched skin most call it.
Koca is the youngest child of the Ilkin family and like his brother is on the slightly taller side of the average height for his age. Standing about one inch over five foot and weighing approximately ninety pounds. He has that similar slender build that will grow in a beautiful maturity when he is older. Most could describe Koca as scrawny because of how slender he is. It allows him to fit into smaller spaces. Storm-touched being young allowed his influence of the storm touch to be negative. His parental influences along with his two older siblings influenced fear into the young man. He has never come across someone who was storm-touched and if he did, he didn't know they were. Koca is young enough that his view isn't necessarily negative or positive yet curious, cautious, and fearful.
The partial influence from his eldest brother, Ergen, kept the young boy's mind open to possibilities but he doesn't want to be exiled from the family like Ergen was. Fear drives his caution and motives. There is truly no answer to how Koca would respond to a storm-touch individual.
Let go of me Kadir!!!
You keep wanting to run off and wander without father! I'll bring you to the fourth ring so a storm touch can curse you!
You wouldn't! Father would be mad! Let go!
Then behave yourself and get back to the second ring! Ring being the youngest child of the Ilkin family causes quite a weight to be put on your shoulders. He is the last child and the last son of this specific line and was born to the second ring. The second ring is where he calls home and tends to sneak off from it. That be up to the first ring or down to the third. Koca has never been to the fourth and none of the children have been on casual terms after the incident with his eldest brother and a storm touch child years ago.
Being born into the royal line, into the second ring, and being close family members to the Regia has allowed Koca to have a wonderful and easy upbringing. Everything has been handed to him for his natural advancement in ikons and ikonomancy even at the young age of twelve. Two years too young to participate in the Wardana Academy though he will continue to harness his skills. Maybe one day get as good as his older brother.
An aristocratic child with a bond to adventure and mischievousness. Koca can be found getting himself into everything and anything. Mainly places where he is not allowed and can face consequences for even going near. Again, his parents fear that he will become another Ergen, and they try their best to restrict him from most things especially activities they allowed Ergen to participate in. They don't' want their youngest son to go down the same path.

• Name: Ceren • Age: Twenty-three • Description: Standing at a small five-foot-one, Ceren is petite and stature and appears extremely fragile and doll-like. Her skin is as pale as porcelain, her eyes as dark as the fading moon, and her hair as bright as the pure fallen snow. She has a lean build and not muscular at all. She has a few places on her body that resemble spider veins, the lines black and jaded.
• Is your character cursed? Were they storm touched or generational storm touched? Ceren has been storm touched and cursed to resemble a porcelain doll. Her skin is as pale, but not exactly as tough as porcelain. Any rough touch results in spider veins lanced about her body circling a small dark patch of skin.
• What ring does your character come from? Ceren comes from the lost fifth ring, but has been outcasted and shamed due to being storm cursed.
• Active Role: While she has lived a life of solitude and poverty, she has a strong yearning to rage against the current goings on in the world. She wishes to be a part of the revolution, but as she is feared by many, she has a very strong feeling that she will be outcasted by the group as well. Yet they will not stop her from standing up for what she believes is right.
• Biography: Born to Destiny and Myrel, Ceren grew up a normal only child in the fifth ring. Her parents were part of the revolution from almost the very beginning, and always pushed their daughter to believe in the underdogs and to always stand up for what was right. That urge was instilled in her from a very young age and it carries with her to this very day. When the storm came for their ring, her parents died trying to protect her. Her mother shielded her, protecting her child's life. But, that didn't stop the storm from laying a curse on the young girl. From the very moment her curse took it's hold, she has been an outcast and living alone and on scraps that she has been able to find. She believes in the work her parents put into the revolution, and is bound and determined to live out their legacy.
• Name: Faylrie Pronouced Faye - Lrie [the L and R in her name are pronounced as one]
• Age: 22
• Description:
• Cursed? It's complicated. No. She is not cursed. However as a babe, her father figure used a special form of body Ikonomancy to give her the appearance of storm touched. While this body Ikonomancy is not the same as face changing, it is along similar lines. There are two main differences to this Ikonomancy. First the appearance change does not hold in reflections or when being viewed through another medium such as a pane of glass. Second, the change is permanent regardless of will power.
When looking directly at Faylrie, centipede like bulges can be seen crawling beneath her skin.
• What ring does your character come from? Second technically, but she’s lived her whole life in the fourth.
• Biography: Born unto an unknown female, in the nobility, who had a relationship with someone in the third ring, any chance of happiness for Faylrie was doomed from the start. Immediately after her birth, it was commanded by the family that Faylrie be given to the storm for she was not worthy of their name and title.
The task was given to the family’s butler, a man by the name Jhaydarr Finch. But upon looking at the babe, Jhaydarr found himself in the middle of an impossible task.
Jhaydarr was unable to follow through. Since cursing the child at birth would surely lead to abandonment and death, he instead decided on another path. Calling in a favor, he used Ikonomacy to change both his own and the Faylrie’s appearance to look as if the plan had gone array and that they were both storm touched.
Dismissed by the family shortly after, he took it upon himself to raise the child in the fourth ring. He found a curse woman who he paid to act as the Faylrie’s milkmaid (who ran away shortly after Faylrie no longer needed to feed) and was with her ever since.
Having the appearance of a curse, not to mention one that others find grotesque, Faylrie’s life has never been an easy one. Nights were always cold and crowded. Food was scarce and she always had to be on the lookout for thieves among the other cursed.
Her one solace were her training sessions with Jhaydarr, and a peculiar friend she made at age ten. One day when she found herself all alone, running from the Wardana who caught her stealing, her friend came upon her. A strange talking raven. A raven by the name of Faine.
“This way! This way!” He guided her, in a voice that seemingly only she could hear. “Over here! Over here!”
With Faine’s help, she was able to evade the Wardana and find her way safely back to Jhaydarr.
Faine has been with her ever since. Though oddly, he’s not always a raven. Sometimes he’s a mouse. Sometimes fly. Other times a cat. Faine comes and goes as he pleases, but he always returns, usually in some new form.
Over the years Faylrie has found Faine to be quite mischievous. And perhaps sometimes even an instigator.
• Active Role:
Faylrie has multiple motivations:
Revenge. Faylrie has a deep seeded hatred of what the world has done to her. She will stop at nothing to murder the mother that abandoned her. But Faylrie’s ability to carry out revenge is at the moment limited. So as such she must take things one step at time
The destruction of her false curse. This has been a sore spot for Faylrie for many years. A false curse that she is unable to see when looking back in a mirror. She loathes the undue treatment it has garnered from those around her.
A spot in The Revolution. The revolution’s goals aligns with her own, but given the chance she would give away The Revolution’s plans and high ranking members if the chance to enact her revenge arose.
Crossing off names on her list. While not actively blood thirsty, Faylrie keeps a mental list of those who have severely wronged her. She awaits the day where she can final crossing those names off one by one.
• Personality: Faylrie doesn’t mind being crude and will often act as if she doesn’t give a shit. She has trust issues and thus has a difficult time getting close to others. Over the years she has been beaten, bullied, harassed, lied to, spat on, whipped, cornered and stabbed multiple times for laughs and even nearly strangled to death before getting rescued by Jhaydar. There is very much a whole lot of hatred and anger bubbling beneath the surface.
That said, there is far more to Faylrie than the anger, hatred, desire to enact revenge. Deep down, what Faylrie desires more than anything else is belonging. A home. A family. Anything! Anything that could justify the torture she endured. Anything to justify the point of living…. But this… this is not something she is willing to admit to. Not to herself, or to anyone else.
• Ikonomancy: While not a student of Ikonomancy, Faylrie has become proficient in a few very particular transformative ikons that have been built into her walking stick. These ikons were taught to her by Jhaydarr during her training sessions, and the stick was given to her has a gift so that she could discreetly use the ikons she learned to transform her stick into a tool or weapon of her choosing.
• Weapon: Faylrie carries her walking stick with her at all times. The top of the walking stick divides into a v shape. The top of the stick has two rotating pieces attached to each end of the ‘V’. These rotating parts have incomplete bits of ikons carved into the piece and the stick. The ikons are seamlessly hidden by a false surface that was glued atop the surface of the stick.
The rotating piece on each end of the ‘V’ has a different function. The rightmost rotating piece transforms the stick into different weapons depending on the ikon activated.
These weapons are: A Kusarigama A short sword A two handed spear A mace
The leftmost piece transforms the stick into various tools.
These tools are: A grapple A glass cutter A slingshot A spyglass
In addition to this. Faylrie keeps a crude dagger hidden at her side at all times.
• Curse: Godric’s body no longer heals on its own at all. Ever since being touched by the storm, all repair to his body has to be done through ikonomancy. While there are no obvious outward signs, there have been whispers among the healers of his body taking longer to heal than it did previously.
• Ring and views: Of the First Ring by both wealth and status, the Argyle family has maintained their proximity to the power center for generations. While being a Regia Guard wasn’t the best option for their primary heir, it was a great path for the secondborn. When it came to his practical views of society, Godric was always known for strict adherence to hierarchy. Their God and his Voice stood above the rings, thus the First Ring bowed. In turn, Seconds bowed to them, with the Thirds bowing to those before. Fourths would give way to Thirds, but hold superiority over the Fifths. His worldview seemed to have gotten much softer ever since the Fifth fell. Offering words of guidance instead of outright orders or dominion to those who were surely below him. This change in his character was overall taken as old age and weakness.
• Active Role: Oldest serving member of the current Regia Guard, Godric made his name for great deeds in the previous generation. However, anyone who has started service in the days following the fall of the Fifth would find the present man left much to be desired when compared to the hero of old stories. Over time, his once commanding presence has been reduced to more of a relic of times past. The fact that he kept stepping out of the way of any real conflict only added to the feeling that he had already seen his best days. Currently, the upper echelon of the First is actively looking to push him into retirement. Had his family been any less wealthy and influential, this would have happened several years ago. His influence still holds with any older officers in the service, as they mostly remember him as he was instead of what he became later in life. Within the Guard itself, he had grown to be an ostracized, agreeable sort. He never desired conflict or voiced opinions against the grain. The only aspect of his life which still showed a degree of fortitude was the relationship with his apprentice. Llyris would be his legacy.
• Biography: Argyle family always did its best to maintain a good position in relation to the other great houses. They would arrange political marriages and overproduce offspring simply to make sure additional pieces could maintain the board. If you were the firstborn, you were to take over as the family head once the previous generation stepped down – which is what his brother Lorentz did. Both of his sisters were married off for political capital. Emilia made a great name for herself as a particularly skilled healer, even making her own adaptations to common practices. Julianna on the other hand blended into the background, quickly becoming what most would deem as a perfect wife. There were occasional rumors about schemes and intrigue, but none have ever landed squarely on her. The youngest of the family, Damian, seemed to have pulled away from Godric completely in the years following his choice of apprentice. Damian had always expressed an interest in the Guard, but while he was still mighty, Godric never saw the proper strength within the man. As such, he had chosen Llyris – son of his former brother in arms. While his name still carried weight within the Guard, his family kept their deference to him, but as soon as he started losing said influence – their tune changed as well. They still recognized him as one of their own, supplying resources and backing him in all public affairs – but his influence had come to an end. Once he retired, he would fall completely under Lorentz’ command for the remainder of his days.
The family has recently been surrounded in whispers of a marriage for Damian – a play to prop themselves back into the currents Godric couldn’t help them swim in. Since Damian never lost his intention to join the Guard, it wasn’t too strange when bad luck seemed to loom over Godric's allies.
Godric did his best to keep Llyris under his protection, but as his influence faded, so did the air of safety.
D E S C R I P T I O N Hair: Naturally wavy. At most times it is a pale white. In the daylight it shifts to her original color: black. Height: 5'3 Eyes: Bright Blue. Due to being storm-touched, her pupils are more similar to a cat. In the daylight her pupils shift to appear more human. Misc: In her storm-touched state, she has white fuzzy cat-like ears.
S T O R M - T O U C H E D Alora grew up being taught that storm-touched individuals were less than human and deserved death, so naturally she was terrified of them, albeit skeptical that they deserved such harsh treatment. That is, until she became storm-touched herself at the age of sixteen and her views on them quickly shifted along with the rest of her.
Alora's older brother, Cade Lowell, was a Wardana Leader who was assigned on an unknown mission to the fourth ring. Weeks went by with no word from him and then weeks turned into months. Her parents kept her out of the loop at the time due to how young she was, but Alora had always been too curious for her own good and quite skilled in the art of stealth. Under the cover of night Alora made her way down to the fourth ring in search of her brother. She searched far into the outer ring which eventually got her in trouble as she got caught in a storm. She was able to escape with her life, but she did not come out unscathed. The storm had touched her and altered her body chemistry, leaving her in excruciating pain and terrified of what she had just become. To her surprise, it was the storm-touched people of the fourth ring who saved her and guided her through the change.
When Alora was stable after her transformation, she knew that she could not return home. Her home was with the storm-touched now. Her father would have had her killed on sight and her mother wouldn't have been able to even look at her. It saddened Alora, but in truth, her fellow storm-touched had cared for her more than her blood-family ever had.
Attributes In Shadow: - In regards to her appearance, her hair is zapped of all color. Her once black hair changes to white. Her pupils shift to be more similar to a cat. White cat-like ears appear on her head. - Alora's senses are heightened; she can hear, smell, see, and taste things she never was able to before. - She has a better time seeing in the dark.
In Daylight: - Alora's appearance shifts to how she previously looked: black hair, her pupils return to normal and the cat ears disappear. - The change from darkness to daylight is very painful for her and at times will cause her to pass out. - In her "normal" state, she becomes very weak and fatigued. Her mind gets affected as well in a variety of ways; she can become forgetful or ditzy, take on a different personality or even appear to be drunk. - It's extremely uncomfortable for her to be under the sun. Due to her sensivities, she cannot stay for too long. If she does, her body revolts against her in violent ways - nose bleeds, vomiting, bruising, migraines, seizures, etc.
Overall: - Alora can no longer sleep well, she is plagued by insomnia and is often up throughout the night. - Her eyes have become very sensitive to light. - If injured in any way, her body does not heal quickly.
R I N G Alora was born in the second ring to a wealthy family known for their skill with ikons throughout generations. When she was young, Alora did not realize how privileged she truly was. The resources and lifestyle were taken for granted and Alora rarely thought of the other rings and their plight. Selfishly, she was mostly focused on learning and trying to dodge her parents expectations.
R O L E Alora is part of the revolution and works closely with Ergen himself. She is a source of information, known as "fox" to those in the grey market - a nickname given to her by the storm-touched people who saved her life. More importantly, Alora is a powerful healer in the fourth ring and assists Ergen when he gets himself into trouble. Through her studies, Alora has become extremely gifted in the art of healing, using a variety of methods which can include herbalism and ikons. Those who need help are often told to find "mercy" in the fourth ring.
B I O Alora grew up with very strict parents in the second ring; each parent had very high expectations of their children. Her older brother Cade was the "golden boy" of the family, meeting every expectation they set. He excelled quickly in the Wardana Academy, just like their father. Although their parents looked down upon it, her brother would teach Alora much of what he learned in the academy and she was happy to soak in the information like a sponge. When her brother became a Wardana Leader the lessons became scarce, but curious Alora continued her studies alone despite her family wanting her to focus more on finding a noble husband rather than learning something she was not "fit for." In school is when Alora met Ergen and they became fast friends, particularly because Ergen happily provided her with more information on ikons and would study with her. Her parents were thrilled that Alora had become friends with royalty and pushed for her to become his wife in an arranged marriage. Alora was less than interested in marriage and simply liked his company and the free resources he could provide. When Ergens family chose another to be his wife, Alora's parents became extremely cold and disappointed in her. They blamed the choice of Ergen's family on Alora not being impressive enough.
This trend in their behavior continued to get worse over time, which was a contributing factor to why Alora was left out of the loop when her brother went missing and why she did not feel afraid to leave the second ring. The only person she had ever felt loved by was missing and she had to find him! So, naively, she left and it altered the course of her entire life. Not only that, but she had never turned up any clues as to what happened to her brother.
After Alora became storm-touched her simple, privileged life completely changed. It was a massive wake-up call and she had to assimilate quickly to life in the fourth ring. Fortunately for her, the other storm-touched took her under their wing and showed her the way. This, however, included very shady ways of finding work and food. Luckily, her strict parents had created a child who was good at sneaking around and lying. Alora was able to use this to her advantage in the fourth ring and became something like a spy for the grey market. Due to being so young, tiny and frail, people often overlooked her in the streets. Most people were not typically on guard around a meek teenager, which helped her greatly when seeking out information. Eventually Alora earned the nickname "Fox", not only for her stealth, but due to the change she undergoes in the dark versus the light. In the sunlight, Alora would shift into what she previously looked like before she was storm-touched and the people of the fourth ring likened her change to that of an arctic fox: in the winter their coat is ghostly white and in the summer their fur would darken.
Alora continued her individual studies in the fourth ring as best as she could, at times even forgoing food in order to buy a book instead. As time went on it was clear that Alora excelled in one particular skill over all else: healing. She found herself helping as many people as she possibly could, typically choosing this task over working in the grey market when she could afford to. Quickly she was given the nickname "mercy."
As fate would have it, about a year and a half into her new life is when she met Ergen again. Badly injured, he was taken to her as a last resort. The other healers in the fourth ring were unable to improve his state or wake him, so Alora took him under her care and worked tirelessly for weeks to keep him alive. Miraculously he began to come to and from there on Ergen and Alora became acquainted once more. Alora believed in what Ergen was fighting for and pledged to stay by his side and assist in any way she could. Throughout the years she has become borderline obsessed with the art of healing and she strives to take it further to find a cure for storm-touched individuals, particularly for the people who live in agony every day of their lives.

The Cult of shadows is a death cult, assasins ply their trade and its members can be found to bring death in all forms. She is its leader. And its influence is rising higher and extending their tendrils…slowly.
On surface she is a mistress of a web of establishments who deal in the vices of men and women. They do not have Judge as long as you have the coin to pay for it.
DESCRIPTION White haired, slender, and lithe. Her skin is pale yet also full of life and a strong hint of danger. In her public persona she is seen as a mistress of a wide number of less morally reputable establishments that serve the desires of those with the coin to pay for them. Dressed in garments that would scandalise an upper ring she presents a rather hedonistic front.
Her cult attire is no less provocative, though her face is always masked. One near albino is quite like another in the lower tiers. The leather mask artfully merges the bones of its predecessor as a warning to those who may think to repeat it. Make no mistake, however she dresses to distract and detract… She is deadly.
The rumour of her drinking blood and vampirism is potentially not always a rumour. Men and women have not returned from her bed or bath chambers.
Her choice of attire can be interesting….but is pragmatic. Whatever works. Works.
PERSONALITY Ruthless, you do not rise to lead a death cult by being nice. A lady who can charm one minute and flirt but also kill you 30 seconds later without mercy.
Her front is not a lie, she has no shame, no qualms and her hedonistic rumours are often somewhat true if later exaggerated. Very few things phase her.
Her loyalty to gold. Herself and own interests thus her cult. They may have ties to rebels. But that's far from their only customers.
SKILLS Assassin Knife fighting Poisoning and trickery Charm…when needed Matriarch at centre of a spider's Web. Can heal but needs to regularly drink blood to live. Blood must be "Live" to heal straight from the source. Charismatic cult leader.
BACKGROUND Her true parentage is unknown, maybe 5th ring refugees, maybe an upper rings bastad or an unwanted child of nobility. No one knows.
An orphan was left on the cults doorstep and found, taking her in, she was raised slowly by them becoming her twisted but also loyal family as much as they could be.
Callina was trained by the cult along with other found children who wandered their way into its clutches. Toys were wooden daggers, play was combat training, the cult was no such easy childhood. Most had killed before they reached their teens and already taken their first contracts before their 15th name day. The cult was brutal, darwinian, many died or failed but those few who survived were some of the best killers in the group.
Trained from a young age, they could Infiltrate, evade, and specialise in all manner of weapons. Some from a distance, some up close, others in their own beds, kitchens and more. There was many ways and the cult brought death to every flavour.
Callina was ambitious, dangerously so but also dangerously smart. Gathering allies and slowly cultivating her position by expanding their surface interests to hide and fund their activities even into the 3rd ring. Having footholds in 4th and 3rd rings of the nameless city.
One day. It all boiled down to one day. A poisoned dagger to the heart. Years of secret planning…was over in seconds. Callina became the matriarch.
MISC Mostly concentrated near the 3rd and 4th ring gate and making inroads into the 3rd. The cult's influence has bled over the borders.
CURSE Vampirism. The curse is not entirely obvious physically unlike some though one who pays particularly close may find something amiss. It has affected her mind more than body. Her fangs cannot be hidden though.
Drinks blood, her restraint and such are reduced. Fixed fangs and blood lust if deprived.
Has limited or no ability to balance her own blood thus must consume it to live. They can however consume normal food.
Prefers the night but can function in the sunlight. It's just uncomfortable and harsher. Bright light is uncomfortable.
Wardina / MAGIC Taught in the underground by the cult in basic magic. The education was haphazard but functional.
Mostly practical skills and those to hide, survive, evade and such skills. They were heavy on practical and not academic. The Cult The cult has existed for a long time, it has waned, risen, fallen and happened to exist for a long time in various forms. Its exact history is unknown having been lost in the Chaos and storms.
It has grown since the storms and Rebellion era more into a stricter and more organised form. They have taken their obsession with death into a business, more mercantile, mercenary to survive what has plagued the 4th district. Callina and her sect who eventually rose to power in recent times have seen the pragmatism the zealots do not possess. To survive they had to evolve, to spread, to gain strength and become more than fanatics. They have sought ways to make money, to build influence and use that to spread the direction of the 3rd ring knowing eventually 4th will be swallowed too. They must find ways to survive and move inwards.
The regular, storm touch, outcast and damaged are found, offering a place to belong, loyalty, and protection. Those that survive the training, challenges and battles are hardened and skilled in the arts of death and survival. Death is everywhere waiting for everyone. The Cults ethos has shifted at current to more of an Assassin ethos, worshipping death by being its deliverer.
Many who join through reason of whatever whim life have are often the orphan, abandoned or those who have nothing else. Those who fail die. Those who succeed are brothers and sisters of the Void. It's a place where judgement is based on.what you bring and nothing else.
A favourite of the cult is a now semi slum area near the gates, only once it was not they have found their way into old ruins below. Over time, scavenging, repairing the chambers, even making the now underground bathhouse fill from what seems to be an intact spring that so far defies the effects of the storm. There is space enough to shelter, store and use the ruined sewers and such to ply their trade. Though it has its downsides, it is best they manage for now.
Others are probing into other ruins. The earth and stone provides some protection from the harsh reality of conditions in the 4th zone. Earth keeps the cold out and the stone means Beasts cannot just smash through weak rot ridden walls without warning.
Notable NPC Janus
Janus is someone who she trained with, worked, plotted and slipped the very knife she used to slay the previous matriarch.
As close to a … lover, friend, lieutenant and almost family at same time. In both forms. Callina is not fussy or hung up on such issues or labels. One watches the light, the other the shadow.
Janus is a fairly normal looking person, until you take into the corruption they possess, the one that saw them orphaned and abandoned to the Shadow cult. Janus is many people.
Possessing the ability to shift from male to female, to change their very face and voice. They were very much hunted as anyone who has no true form. They are constantly changing, in flux and unable to control it. Only they can direct it with effort. This has had ruinous effects on their sense of self and mentality. They have no self. Because they are never the same..
And Callina is only too happy to have such a person at her back. Broken people seem to attract.
Leonhart Astaros || 42 || The Regia Guard Captain .
Description: From head to toe, Leon is covered in the signs of a hard life. His hands are rough and calloused, his arms, though strong and firm, are covered in the scars of combat. A bite mark here, a sword wound here. He has fought and fought, and it seems like it will never end.
Feelings on Storm Touched: In the history of the nameless empire, Leonhart is probably the first and only Regia Guard leader to have a softened view of those ‘cursed’ by the Storm. How could he not? In his mind, the role of the Regia Guard is not to keep the royals safe, but to keep the people safe - and to consider the Stormtouched lesser would go against almost everything he stands for.
Would it be fair for him to look at them as swine when he himself has spent time in the storm, when he himself is touched (in his own way) by the Storm?
He is smart enough to keep his views to himself, but small deeds throughout his years of service have caused rumors to swirl amongst communities in the wider rings that the Regia captain is different, and those rumors fuel a hope the fourth and third rings are in desperate need of.
To almost everyone left in the city without a name, one thing rings true: Leonhart is a hero.
The Hero's Journey: Leonhart was born to a prostitute who died in childbirth in the fourth ring.
The woman who delivered him cared for him from the time he was a toddler, to the time he was around eleven years old. Though the woman was a lowly peasant, even she could see the potential he had with Ikonomancy. When the healers came to help those who were sick, or had fallen victim to the storm, the woman spoke with the leader of the monks, Father Astaros; she asked him to come and meet the child named Leon.
After some tests, the monk offered to take Leonhart to the inner rings with him where he could get proper training to utilize the potential he held. As they traveled toward the monk’s home in the second ring, Leonhart was instructed to take on the surname of the monk, and to tell anyone who asked that he was a long-lost family member who was returning to the second ring to experience the life he should have had this whole time.
During their long journey home, Astaros taught Leon about many things. The history of their empire, morals, academics, nutrition... There was so much to teach before Leonhart was sent to the academy, that it was very lucky he was such a quick learner. The most important lesson Astaros tried to impart on his charge was that people were just that: people. When facing down the apocalypse, Astaros reasoned that all deserved equal treatment. It was why he’d traveled to the fourth ring in the first place.
When it came to Ikonomancy, there was nothing left Astaros could teach him once they arrived at his home, and Leon was quickly sent to the Wardana Academy where he could learn from the masters. Leonhart quickly rose to the top of the Academy, becoming a Wardana leader only briefly before he became an apprentice to the Regia Guard captain.
Swelling with pride, the aging Astaros was able to pass on with a smile: Leon would carry on his legacy well, he knew that.
While mourning the loss of his father, Leonhart’s legend truly began. As an apprentice to the Regia guard, Leon was allowed to face the frontlines of the storm as it ate the fifth ring. He fought valiantly, and saved as many people as he could. Defying orders, Leonhart fought the Stormbeasts back from the people as if he were an army of one.
The people whispered his name as the storm seemed to consume him as he fought to push them back. He would have traded his life then and there if it meant one more person would live to see the world he hoped would come once the Storm, like all things, finally passed.
Three days later, Leon walked out of the Storm. While bearing the injuries of a warrior, Leonhart seemed unscathed. The whispers of his name became yells, they spread like wildfire: The man who survived the Storm, they called him. He spoke of his time in the Storm to very few people, but there was an undeniable change about him. He looked older, and his strength seemed it had multiplied.
The very, very strongest.
From there, his legend only grew. He fought tirelessly to protect not just the Regia, but all of those who inhabited the nameless city. When his master stepped away, it only made sense that Leonhart would take the mantle of Regia Guard captain. The selection was made long before it even came up. Only a fool would have picked anyone else, Leonhart was the hero of the people. The only hope left that many people had.
Until the day he dies, Leon intends to add fuel to the fire of hope and inspire the people to band together to fight the Storm — not each other.
Active Role: Prince of the Nameless City, fated to be the next Regia Currently a Wardana, protector of the people and fighter of revolutionaries
Physical Description: Fit and toned, slender and agile, the epitome of a young man in his prime. His face, however, belies a man who has endured more than he should for his age, the gaunt features and slightly sunken eyes both a telltale sign. Yet despite his features, he stands tall and walks with pride, never falters or shows weakness in front of another, his piercing yellow eyes often seeming cold or distant.
Inception:
From the moment since his conception, Zavala has been fed the tale of his destiny. How he is to lead his people and shelter them from the encroaching storm, to be the light in the dark and a shining beacon of hope for them all. It was his father’s belief in him to shepherd the lost, that drove Zavala to become a paragon for the nameless city, to be the best of the best. To that end, he was given the best tutors, advisors and instructors available in the city to teach him the skills necessary to develop his mind into a ruler and his body into that of a warrior.
Wardana Training:
As soon as he came of age he enlisted into the Wardana Academy; his previous instructions flourishing his education ever further. Though he doesn’t have a natural affinity for the full destructive power that Ikonomancy can possess, he does have a propensity to create makeshift weaponry and barriers from earth ikons. When his cousin Ergen joined the academy not two years after, not only did Zavala finally have a friend he could rely on, but a powerful rival to push his limits against. The two dueled often, served on the streets together and saved one another during fights on more than one occasion. They were an inseparable team, but perhaps he should have listened to the words his cousin often spoke, rather than the ambitions and ideals he strived towards. Perhaps if life had gone different, it would have been anyone else under that hood but Ergen that night. For the first time that night, Zavala felt he was not in control of his destiny, his eyes showing confusion, his voice betraying anguish; weakness.
“Ergen.”
“Don’t take this personally…”
Those words were more biting than the explosive wind and though the Regia captain was quick to act, the deed had already been done. Ergen was gone, his body never recovered, believed to have been torn to shreds from the destructive power of his misguided ikons. Zavala lost a friend, and a comrade, not just family that day.
Heir for the Future:
As the years ticked on and the fires of rebellion began to stir, talks of the future and who would rule after became a common occurrence. His mother, Rehema was ever insistent for him to have an heir and arranged for a multitude of bachelorettes to be brought before him; all of them denied. In his pursuit to be the best, he also wanted the best match, not just in superficial traits or for political or financial gain. He desired another who matched his zeal, who desired not only to save the people from the coming storm, but to do what they do best to achieve that goal.
He found that desire amongst a lowborn woman, one who would not reveal her name to him, one he would frequent often and converse with. Despite her upbringing she was intelligent, and far too kind, but that kindness was met in return. He knows not where she is now, even if he did, the crown would never acknowledge whomever she birthed. If he was right though, that child would find a way to strive to ever greater heights and mayhaps one day, be the true beacon after he is gone.
Destiny Awaits:
Now years later, his father, the new host Regia, Zavala must take his rightful place . Yet the rebellion wears heavy on his mind, every day is a challenge and there are those that would bring down the monarchy as a whole. Enemies within and enemies without, allies to the storm that would bring their doom. He will meet them all on the battlefield if he must, for he will lead the people to a brighter dawn.
Description: She stands at a tall 5’10” with slender proportions and an angelic grace about her. Most amongst the populace would describe Jaina as protective, dedicated, and courageous (except if you’re Stormtouched), but those who know her well know that she is a bit flirty, stubborn, and haughty. She respects authority and will only challenge her superiors if she knows she is in the right.
Biography: Jaina hails from a once great family of ikonomancers in the 3rd Ring. Her family had been pioneers of ikonomancy in its infancy all those years ago, but stagnation and ineptness had plagued generations of Vanns, robbing them of their prestige and wealth bit by bit. By the time of Jaina’s birth, her parents, Syrun and Dawn, were just barely surviving in their rundown estate, kept only intact by runes drawn by their forerunners. Jaina was expected to be as talentless and unbecoming as her parents and as all the recent generations of Vanns, but her youthful curiosity and keen intelligence would be the Vann’s saving grace. Dirty tomes and hidden recipes for ikons were a feast for Jaina’s young eyes, devouring them bit by bit in their firelit study. Her parents would witness a momentous rise back to the top, their daughter a fledgling paragon amongst this city.
Or at least, they should’ve witnessed it.
Syrun was an eager fool of a man, and his wife, Dawn, only served to enable his scheming. His “friends” were seedy at best, Stormtouched rogues and brigands that he would occasionally harbor under the noses of the Wardana for “business purposes”. Jaina was rarely privy to any conversations that her father had with these individuals, nor would she ever know what he was really up to.
One night, a 12 year old Jaina woke up to screaming and shouting. She snuck downstairs to find the source of the noise, only to find her father being flayed by a pale woman with ghastly features: her yellow eyes were much too wide, her lips black as night, and her skin glinted with reptilian scales. Her mother, Dawn, laid on the ground, her skull already shattered against a stone wall. A few other Stormtouched individuals were looting her home, while the pale woman jeered at Syrun for “failing his end of the bargain”. In a fright, Jaina managed to escape the estate without being detected, flagging down the Wardana with tears in her eyes. By the time the Wardana arrived on the scene, Syrun was a bloody husk of a corpse, but the Stormtouched criminals were likewise taken care of.
Jaina would never know what criminal enterprise her father had aligned himself with nor would she ever know who the Stormtouched were. Nonetheless, the Wardana had avenged her parents, and so she felt she knew where she had to go next, especially now that she was an orphan: She would go to the Academy and become just like them. Her trauma sparked a wildfire and a need to protect this city and drive the Storm back, and with it, all of the Cursed individuals. The miscreants and fell beings would perish so that no one else would have to endure what she had.
And so she did exactly what she set out to do: Jaina showcased her proficiency of ikonomancy upon joining the Wardana Academy, one that would only blossom with each passing year. She was a natural, a manifestation of the past glory of the Vann name. By the time she was 19, she had become a Wardana Leader and fought numerous skirmishes against storm beasts. There have been some rumors that she purposefully caught Stormtouched in the crossfire of her battles, but it has never been a point of contention amongst her peers. As for the general, non-Cursed population, Jaina has been a saint to those in need, a true hero fighting valiantly against the Storm.
With the betrayal of Ergen Ilkin, Jaina’s pedigree and skill has earned herself a position as the newfound apprentice of Leonhart Astaros, someone she has idolized for her prowess and heroic status. Suddenly, her prospective future looks even brighter.
Even if it was around ten years ago, Melori is still known as the traitor's betrothed. She is clearly married to the Captain of the Regia Guard but to this day there are whispers, wondering how much she knew of Ergen's schemes. Ikonomancers with a pension for detecting lies have questioned her at twelve, at sixteen, and at eighteen, prior to her marriage with Leon. With her marriage, she is now considered 'off limits'. Those who have full faith in Leonhart believe if she is indeed a traitor, he would send her to the trials or take her life himself. Aside from that? People compare her beauty to her mother and grieve the tragic loss. It's been fifteen years since her mother passed away. Lysabel was known as the one who threw the best parties, the perfect conversationalist, and the purest of hearts who brewed the best tea (with alchemic, healing and ikon properties). When noble people of the first and second ring look at Melori they see Lysabel or they think of the accomplishments of all the men that surround her. Her husband, her father, her brother and her former betrothed.
Melori only exists in the image of others.
Melori is no one.

☽ S T O R M - T O U C H E D ☾ (s e c r e t l y)
Before she was born, her father, Radyn, 25 years ago, as he served this city as a Wardena Leader, got caught in a storm saving his charge, and his brother-in-arms, Godric Argyle. Fortunately (or unfortunately), he has been able to keep the incident under wraps because his ailment, his curse, had been seemingly all mental. By chance, or by the amount of awards he got within his long service and the next three years, continuing to fight storms and beasts in the Wardena, he was able to get recognized for his achievements and was offered an apprenticeship into the Regia Guard, under Eddard Orbarrow. He didn't hesitate to take the offer, especially because his wife had been growing more and more mentally unstable.
Melori was seven years old when her mother had a manic episode and tried to kill her. The day Karia was born was the day she realized the severity of what it means to be storm touched. Prior to that? She was naïve and innocent. On that day, her mother saw a monster in her youngest child. The girl with darkness and evil in her eyes. Lysabel knew Melori was storm touched, due to her daughter's black tears, but she hoped she could live a life in denial and paint her eldest daughter's curse as silly 'daydreams' and an unfortunate 'sickness'. Karia coming into this world changed everything. A week after Karia was born, Lysabel took her life, already believing her monstrous family was beyond saving. Death was mercy, death was a kindness, death was her only hope.
From that point on, Melori gained an awareness of her position and had spent years educating herself and trying to keep her curse under control, sharing with her father her findings, as he shared with her. Behind her older brother's back, she and her father conjured a plan if they were ever to be discovered, Melori, Karia and those that have sworn loyalty to the family (not many, but the staff) would take the family's secret tunnel in their mausoleum and look for 'Sanctuary' which is a network of hidden routes and safe houses. Yes, it would eventually lead to the fourth ring but if they must, for the protection of their family, they must. Until then, they'd enjoy their status and privilege until it inevitably catches up with them. And it will, one day.
Her father believes, while they are monsters, that they were cursed for a reason, especially because they see things that no other men have. He, with the past of things unwritten, her with ever-growing divinity, and Karia with people and their untold stories. It is their duty to weather the storm and risk their lives, if necessary, for the future of the city. She believes the same. That her purpose could shift the chain of events but like everything else, that is only measured in probabilities. She does know she needs to figure out who she can trust, without destroying everything her father's ever fought for. Based on her 'daydreams' thus far there is an idea that stands out the most to her. Individuals matter, and they have immediate and short-term effects, but the long term outcomes are never in question. The rebellion was fated as was every other momentous event in history. Even if the chances of the end of everything as we know it is nearly for certain, there is still hope and that's what she chooses to fight for. Not for the Regia, not for the storm touched people. No, she fights for mankind. She fights for the city fated to fall.
These are some of the ways her father described her curse. Not only can she read history, like her old man, but she can see something happening in the present, like a fly on the wall, and has the ability to envision probable future outcomes. Her history reading is not in the same way he experiences his visions. Her father's mental ability is far more like a puzzle while hers is a playthrough of known events in history, like moments before the fifth ring fell. When she is having a lucid daydream of the present, she sees seconds of something of importance, like a clue telling her to chase it. As for her foresight? That comes to her like a bullet, gravity forcing her to her knees as she sees the most probable future. As of now everything seems random when they hit her, with no rhyme or reason and the only way she can control it is to make sure when she is having an abrupt episode to paint it like an illness, rather than her brain going haywire. This curse, or gift depending on how one looks at it, takes a heavy toll on her body, making her fatigue, dizzy and faint. Her husband, while left in the dark, is training her to be independent, training her body to fight the sickness and teaching her how to defend herself. Their sessions often end with her losing consciousness and him carrying her to their bed. It's a slow, painful training regime but over the course of their marriage, it has proven to help her fight the storm in her body. The sickness that is slowly killing her. He loves his wife dearly.

Ergen Ilkin's former betrothed, wife to Leonhart Astaros, daughter to veteran Radyn Sorrel and the fair beauty and philanthropist, Lysabel Barlowe-Sorrel (she is said to have been as clever as she was beautiful).
Melori is an unknown element to the changing tide of the Nameless City's climate — politically, socially and literally. Her extrasensory perception and predictions of the past, present and future could influence events to come or it could get all those she loves killed. The only people who are aware of her capabilities is her immediate family. Not even her husband knows she is storm touched.
☽ R I N G & I K O N O M A N C Y ☾
Melori was born and raised on the second ring, by a family who have served the Wardena and Regia Guard for generations. The Sorrel Family. The men in her family make it a competition to see who can get into the Regia Guard and those who do get a painted picture of themselves hung up in the second floor hallway. Her brother has not been given the honor yet since he is still an apprentice. Their medals and honors, however, along with those that served the Wardena are above the family's fireplace. Her family home has gone through plenty of renovations and has been with the Sorrels for years.
Her mother's side is split between the second and third ring, with her grandfather being an exception. Melori's grandfather, Cassemir Barlowe, is a mathematician, researcher and scholar, for the crown, and can be found on the first ring. The rest of the Barlowe family can be found in the second ring and at the Academy, constantly seeking to advance the study of ikons, science and technology. It was Cassemir's idea that the Academy use Karia as an experiment. The first blind girl to be accepted at the Academy. Surely that could make a difference in how lesser rings perceive them but also, potentially, open opportunity for advancement. Ikons reaching even those with disabilities. Meanwhile, her grandmother's side, the Collymores, are third ringers and are some of the most sensible and friendly artisans in town. With blood and sweat, they produce some of the finest furniture and weaponry in the city.
Lysabel decided to be both an intellectual and a maker, combining her families chosen professions into one creative pursuit. She studied ikons and blended it with foodmaking, specializing in teas, combining quality ingredients to help “center” the body, bringing balance to life. While she didn't start a tea shop, she did have a home business and brewed blends that even the Regia Consort went out of her way to order months in advance. With Lsyabel no longer around, her remainder supply is scarce and people hope Melori will follow suit eventually. Melori did go to school and studied ikons but is currently a stay at home wife expected to bear Leonhart's children. Her exploration of ikons focuses around geography, science, mathematics and cartography. The Academy is aware of her ability to enhance her navigation skill, never getting lost, like a walking compass. They also know she can figure out the name of plants and other physical features of earth/atmosphere with her ikons.
Intriguing, yes, but not tea.
During her free time, Melori hopes to produce ikons that can track people and bring a map to life like... a navigation system that everyone can utilize. Even better if it can track those you love. This is an ongoing study.
☽ A B O U T T H E G I R L ☾
Melori Sorrel, now Astaros, has played her part dutifully. She has been a good daughter, a good sister, a good friend and now a good wife. All her life she has felt limited and caged because someone has told her how to walk, what to say, when to be coy and who to be. Ergen, a boy she grew up with and learned to love, didn't trust her enough to tell her his schemes so that must mean she meant nothing. Logically, she gets it. She understands he didn't want her to fall with him but at the same time, why? Why do people call the shots for her? Why can't she live for herself? Why is her intelligence because of her Barlowe lineage and not because she has a penchant to learn and discover?
Why can't she just be?
She knew the answer, of course. The world she lived in was full of darkness, where society continuously tries to extinguish the growing light. The hope for a better tomorrow. She firmly believes knowledge is the key to lead to truths that could enlighten and unite those in conflict. The storm didn't live in just those touched by it or blessed with it through blood, like herself. Chaos lived inside them all and she was simply a walking example of what this chaos was doing to everyone, though more visibly to her. Darkness flashed in her mind in fragments, slowly eating at her, her body growing weaker and weaker and her mind constantly on high alert, waiting for the next stressful vision. Too much light could blind you, make you forget the foundation of what built this city. Darkness needs to exist for everyone to appreciate the light. The sole purpose of why she existed was to kindle a light in the dark.
If there was anything that forced her to grow up, and to grow up fast, it was the fact that she was one with the storm. She could run away from it or she could embrace. For now, she chooses to study it. That's all she can do as she keeps her silent oath and never reveals what she is to those around her. As strong as she wants to believe herself to be, she knows she is a worthless monster; something her mother called her throughout her childhood, behind closed doors.
All her life her worth has been measured by others. Melori can't help but find herself in a dark place, unable to escape, but it is because of the dark, she's learned things she could never in the light. Without this curse, she would be like her brother, battling with himself and hating the sight of his own family. She would live a life entitled and full of judgement. She would be mean spirited and selfish. She would not think about the consequences of her actions and she would lack empathy for everyone and anyone, especially those different from her. Melori chose to quietly live her life compassionately, and not in the showy way her mother chose to live her life, like she was some celebrity that everyone adored and loved to watch. Wisdom goes a long way when one tries to listen and discern the truths of the world. Of people.
She won't lie, she is terrified of her curse and those like her. It's hard to breakdown this drilled notion that storm touched are monsters but she is no coward and she will approach who she is and what others are pragmatically. The Royal family could throw her into the trials without hesitation. Why should she be scared of something full of unknowns and uncertainties? That only means there's room to educate herself. Her current dilemma is her wanting to have Leonhart's child but frightened at the idea of bringing a baby into this world and cursing them when they never asked to be alive. How could she protect her child when she was playing pretend? How could she protect her child when she may not live past twenty five? How could she protect her child when society has already given her unborn baby predetermined titles and a role to play? Did she really want to put that on a pure, innocent being? Did she really want to bring a baby into a city where there was a high probability that a storm would destroy it or that someone would try to kill it because there was no way to hide the storm?
Melori's mind is a gift but also a curse. The cogs constantly turning as she thinks of so many things, some with importance and some with absolute no merit. Everything all at once or nothing at all. Emptiness has a presence and she sees the end. What is she to do about this madness? Will she end up just like her father? Speaking in tongues or will she be a ripple effect in a series of events, all predicted and expected, all in due course? Regardless of her purpose, which she is so desperate to find, she knows one thing. She has people worth a damn to love and to protect. That is more than enough reason to enter the battlefield and make a difference and she hopes she doesn't have to do it alone... she hopes she can make change, good change, with Leon and her family at her side. Melori hopes to do good, in whatever way she can, even if it gets her killed. And that doesn't mean she's going to choose sides. Her side is where truth lies and her goal is to unravel it.

Radyn Sorrel - Father; Retired Regia Guard & Wardena Leader. Radyn served both the Wardena and Regia Guard for many years and is seen as a remarkable soldier and a heroic man. He was released from the Regia Guard when his body could no longer carry out his duties. He is rumored of being a mad man nowadays. People do not go near the Sorrel Estate out of fear they will be infected; gossip being a cautionary tale of the fall of Radyn Sorrel. While they don't think he is storm touched, people entertain the idea that his illness (since they haven't seen him in years) was caused because of long exposures with storms. Radyn is believed to not have directly been caught in one but they do wonder... could exposure cause the brain to malfunction? The talk is mild and hasn't been enough for Radyn to be sent to the towers or the fourth ring. There is no point when he is a deadman walking. The sickness will take him soon.
Lysabel Barlowe-Sorrel - Late Mother; Loved by many, Lysabel's death impacted most citizens of the second ring and even the Regia Consort. It's been fifteen years since she passed away and people still can't believe she's gone. She was the perfect example of everything right in this world. Everything a young woman should be. On top of that, she made the most exquisite tea. She died by an ikon-tea-ceremony gone wrong. Cassemir has a hard time believing his daughter failed to produce exactly what she wanted to make and he wants to know why she created a poisonous tea with arsenic at the base and tested it on herself. No one wants to believe Lysabel took her own life so those who know her time and time again say she died from natural causes. The Regia Guard confiscated the vial that was in her hand and seemingly the remainder of her concoction. Little does anyone know, Karia with her psychometry found a stash of this poison and hid it in a secret place.
Llyris Sorrel - Older brother; Apprentice to Godric Argyle of the Regia Guard. In charge of his father’s estate, funds and affairs. That includes his sisters. Well, now just Karia. Thankfully, Leon accepted Llyris' offer after the uprising and married Melori shortly after she turned eighteen, which means she is no longer his problem and responsibility. Llyris is the current face of the Sorrel name and is believed to go even further than his father ever did, seeing how he gained his apprenticeship a lot younger than his old man and seems to have great, unwavering conviction. Society expects great things from the son of Radyn.
Karia Sorrel - Baby sister; ikonmancer-in-training. The Academy’s “Experiment”. She has an unfortunate disability. She is blind and to make it more known to the world, she wraps her eyes so it leaves little room for assumptions. As the Academy’s new project, they hope to make ikons more accessible to people like her. Since she does come from the Barlowe line, there is hope that she will succeed with flying colors just like her grandfather and mother. Even her older sister, who has chosen to intertwine her ikon knowledge with her everyday life as she prepares for motherhood. It doesn’t change that although Karia is beautiful and kind, she gets bullied for her differences. The world is her oyster and with Karia, her grandpa sees plenty of promise. She is a clever girl and could change the world. All without eyesight. Marvelous.
