Mary Sue Sullivan

Location: Framework Area
Skills:

One moment, Mary Sue was pondering the complexities of time travel, the next, she was quite literally gut shot. It was at a time like this that a hero that was more trained, or experienced, or who had been mortally wounded before would be something to try to save themselves, but unfortunately, Mary Sue was none of those things. She collapsed on the floor, trying not to hyperventilate. The most she knew was that if she tried to pull it out, she might die from the blood loss, so it had to stay in. One bright side was that it took agonizingly long to die from an injury like this, the bad side was that it was going to hurt like a bitch as it dragged her to death's door.

Bonus Mary Sue, on the other hand, was looking incredibly concerned at her purported future self. Her voice was filled with worry, and she asked, as Andy dragged her away. "If... if she dies do I die?" She had no idea what emotions she was supposed to feel about this. Could she have empathy for herself? Should she be scared? Human brains weren't designed for this. The emotional maelstrom that was rolling through her were ineffable. Why wasn't she doing anything or trying to save herself? It felt like, if there was one thing she knew she felt, it was disappointment.

Zelda Flynn and Zarina Raynordattir

Location: Framework Area
Skills: Emotion Manipulation

Zari wasn't exactly what to do or anything with regards to the situation with April. However that was a small thing compared to the big issue that was her powers going haywire and going out of their way to hurt other people with it. Everything was flying, and she turned her attention now towards Mary Sue that got injured. Thankfully it didn't seem to be the one that was from the past. That would have opened a whole other can of worms with regards to time paradoxes. Like, causing time to actually unravel and that would not be a good thing.

She went over to check on the other Mary Sue, as Andy told her to grab one of them, however moving the Mary Sue that was seriously injured? Yeah, that would be a really bad idea. "Are you okay?" she asked the Mary Sue that was injured pretty badly. "Well, on the bright side time won't unravel since you're the one who traveled with us so yay? But also we probably shouldn't move you, that could just make things worse."

Zelda wasn't too sure what to fully think with regards to April's problems with regards to the chaos she was seemingly causing. There was a bunch of people already crowding around her with regards to it, and in her mind, trying anything with so many people around would likely cause a screw up or something like that. She probably would just make the entire situation worse if she attempted anything, but after the strike out that caused some injuries, there definitely needed to be something done.

Truthfully, she was heading towards doing something she typically never really did with her own powers. Personally the most she ever did with regards to her powers was either amplify someone's emotions, or overwhelm them with her own. Trying to calm someone's own chaotic emotions and emotional state? That was something entirely new to her. "...I guess I can try something," she muttered, not entirely sure if anyone would really hear her. Zelda tried using her powers, and at first, nothing seemed to really happen at all. But the second time she tried a bit harder, her hand glowing slightly as things calmed down. The whirl of water and the storm April had caused died down, as she seemingly calmed down. Guess that worked out in the long run, but that had not exactly been something she was expecting to attempt to do today. Here's hoping that April would stay calmer now.

??? - Tue. November 23rd, 2038 - Margaret Carter Institute

Embraced by her girlfriends, her fears spoken aloud and dealt with by Sabine, Leah's strong arms wrapped around her, and under the influence of her sister's calming aura, the chaos spasming in April's mind subsided, at least for a little while. The water fell flat on the ground of the room, no longer thrashing violently. She slumped over like a puppet without strings, thoroughly exhausted, the mental toll exacting a physical consequence. April didn't lift her head, instead just resting her face against Leah's chest, not even minding the sand paper feel of Leah's coarse curls.

"Well, this is touching, but we have people bleeding out," Percy hissed, emphasizing the urgency. One of the Mary Sue's had been stabbed, as had Mads and others. April's panic attack had completely destroyed the room around them, an added injury after the fight with Arcade that they had barely managed to survive. The psycho wasn't even hurt, having been relatively unscathed after April's onslaught. As much as Sabine had just argued that April wasn't her family, Percy found himself disagreeing.

She had as much control as the Scarlet Witch.

At seeing his mother, Maria, rush into the room though, Percy's knees briefly went weak. For a split second, he felt very much the young kid that he still was, having survived a dangerous situation only to then be faced with his mother. Part of him wanted to slump over and sob, to cling to her suit. But he pushed that down, instead straightening his back, as he saw his mother's coworkers quickly join them - Hawkeye, She-Hulk, Shang Chi, and Ant-Man. "You're late."

Hawkeye raised a gray eyebrow, the scars on his face shifting. "Nice to see you too, punk." He then paused, glancing at April - and then at Arcade. "That him?"

Percy nodded.

"Great," She-Hulk said, before formally arresting Arcade, reading off a version of the Miranda Rights used particularly for supervillains - and then Shang Chi cuffed him, the cuffs designed to dampen powers, glowing a sinister red.

The Scarlet Witch and Captain Marvel then alighted in the room, having finished their sweep from outside. "All clear," Carol said. "Everything's secure."

Wanda nodded in agreement, before seeing the various injuries around the room, and she frowned. Her eyes flashed red as she whispered an incantation, a spell that had been taught to her by her tutor, Agatha Harkness, and the wounds slowly began to close.

"I need you all to give me a good number to call - we have to inform your guardians as to what happened," She Hulk then said.
@Forsythe: There's no response from Scott, nor is there one from anyone else in the family group chat.

Dorian Gray

Location: Mario World
Skills: Work Out Fit

Dorian wanted to reach out, to help April. But his boyfriends cutting remarks were right, too many people piling onto her would only make it worse. These panic attacks were more manageable when it was only the three of them. But as their circle grew, so too did the amount of people who cared for her, as well as the amount that may surround her against best thoughts. Dorian watched as the glass behind her began to spider web. Cracking slowly as the pressure grew from his best friend's distress. He tried to think about the best way to protect Arcade and himself, too far removed from Danni physically. He couldn't phase them both, but he couldn't leave Ed alone either.

Dorian didn't get the chance to finish his thoughts, the glass bursting at the seams as water and shards came barreling towards everyone in the room. The next few moments were a blur. Water washed over his face and eyes like a wave crashing down on him, he felt his grip slip away from Ed's, and was able to make out the familiar blue glow of his boyfriends powers appearing where he once stood. After that, everything went black. Dorian's head had smashed against the hard walls of the training room, blood pouring out and inking the pool of water red making it more difficult to tell just how much blood had been lost.

In either sense, the water made the wound flow more, drawing the blood out as Dorian lay there unconscious but alive. That's how it was for a moment, pure darkness as vague sounds could be heard from beyond him. Then suddenly, he felt something familiar. It wasn't exactly the same, all magic has its own signatures, but it was similar nonetheless. Someone was healing his wounds, the same way his father had many times before. As the scarlet magic did it's work, Dorian began to stir from his slumber and looked at the cast of the Avengers standing before him. Ed was in cuffs, She-Hulk reading him his rights, and it took everything in Dorian to stand up and speak out.

”She-’ulk, please, ‘e's already stated ‘e regrets what ‘e's done. ‘e's begun t’e process of change. Don't be too ‘ard on ‘im, please…” Dorian spoke, propped up against the wall he was bashed against. Apart from the blood tinging a side of his face red, his cheeks began to flush as well when asked for parental contact. Several of the Avengers knew his parents, and if either James or Ben found out about this they may not let them continue if they didn't think it was safe enough. ”Well, most of you ‘ave my dad's number anyways. Aaaand April may ‘ave busted my phone unless we can get some rice and a bag.”

“Whelp, shit.” That wasn’t meant to come out-Danni never had a great time with inside thoughts-but he found his field of fucks to give barren as the tanks burst. Danni screeched as the water hit him, throwing his arms up fruitless, and then promptly coughing as water surged into his mouth. Danni hacked his way out of certain, watery death as Leah and Sabine got April calmed enough for the water to chill out.

At least it was better than toilet water this time.

Danni laid on the ground for a few moments, just catching his breath and resisting the urge to intrude on the trip's moment, but rolled his head as new people came in. The West Coast Avengers sauntered their way in and took ‘Cadie off their hands. Two problems solved, with the healing thrown in, and Danni sighed, thankful that at least Pops wouldn't hear-

“WAIT!” Danni shot up, jumping to his feet and sliding on the slippery floor to an awkward, arm flailing stop in front of She-Hulk. “Please, please, please, please, please do not tell my parents. I'll do anyt'in’. Like Papa would be okay at first, but t'en ‘e'd get all dramatic and t'en tell Pops and t'en Imma be so grounded. Like, six feet under grounded. T'en I might not be allowed back and it took so much work ta get ‘ere in t'e first place, it'll all ‘ave been for not'in’.” Danni begged, giving his best puppy dog eyes in hopes it would change anything.

Diana Novikova

Location: Avenger's Academy, Framework Room.

Diana followed shortly behind her mother and into the Framework room only to see the huge watery mess all over the place and some people were injured. She looked over at Percy and quickly went over following shortly behind her mother they both were really worried about Percy as Maria spoke up. "We got here as quickly as we could." Maria said as she looked at her son and quickly pulled him into a hug, she was just glad that he was okay. "You aren't injured are you hon?" Maria asked looking at Percy.

Diana watched as She-Hulk and Shang-Chi approached Arcade and started to put him into cuffs and gave him his Miranda Rights as he was slowly being escorted out. Diana rolled her eyes slightly when Dorian practically started to plead them to go lenient on him, Diana really didn't have any sympathy for him. He was a member of her team and he betrayed her trust and basically tried to murder her, her brother and all of their friends. "Почему он нравится тебе как твой парень после того, как Аркейд пытался нас убить?" Diana asked speaking in russian as she looked over at Percy.

Maria turned to look at Danni who practically was begging not to call their parents. "You do realize that it'll eventually get out regardless if you tell them or not right?" Maria said shaking her head slightly. "Just get it out of the way now i'm sure they'd prefer to hear it from you instead of being on the frontline news." Maria pointed out to Danni she looked at Scarlet Witch giving her a slight nod as she healed the injured kids in the room.

Madalyne sighed slightly as she was glad that Sabine, Leah and Zelda were able to calm April down from causing anymore injuries she turned to looked at the group of Avengers as they started to come into the room, she was glad that they were actually here now as She-Hulk and Shang-Chi cuffed Arcade and were getting ready to escort him out. Madalyne watched as one of them approached Percy she assumed were Diana and Percy's mother seeing her hugging him.

She looked at Dorian and rolled her eyes slightly when he was basically begging for them to go easy on him she would never trust Arcade again but she didn't say anything else really. She held her injured leg wincing slightly as she looked down at the blood flowing down her leg, when it started to slowly heal thanks to the Scarlet Witch.

"Thank you." Madalyne said looking at Wanda as Captain Marvel asked them all to get in contact with their parents and tell them what happened. She really didn't want to call her mother who would worry about her after finding out what happened but she knew that word would eventually get out anyway. "My phone is in my dorm but I can get it." She said to her she was dreading having to make the phone call really she looked around and noticed that Vicky wasn't here. "Where's Vicky?" Madalyne asked everyone.

There weren’t many things that could bug Leah. But her girlfriend being distressed was certainly one of them. She clicked her wet hair backwards over her shoulder and held April close. It was a bittersweet sight, these three being so intimately close to one another in a flooded room of broken glass and bleeding teenagers. The Avengers had taken over, cuffing Ed and healing all the injuries. Thankfully, the three of them weren’t in any bad condition. Not physically, at least. Leah still wanted to reduce Ed to dust for what he did- For what he would try.

But when She Hulk mentioned their parents… A small part of Leah cringed up.

”Why don’t we just get out of here?” She whispered, just loud enough that the two of them could hear. She put a hand around Sabine’s waist and pulled her in closer. ”They can handle this. And if they know about this, April’s parents definitely know by now. Let’s go, just the three of us.” It would probably do April a lot of good to be away from all of this. ”You can stay in our dorm for tonight if you want, April?”

Andy didn't know how to answer that question. She didn't know what would happen, but Zari seemed sure that Mary Sue would be fine, especially after she was healed. That reassured Andy. They still had to deal with the copies of themselves, and now the adults who wanted to call their parents. Andy wasn't concerned with parental opinion on the matter. Andy had done exactly what her mother would want her to do. She had killed someone.

It wasn't the first time Andy had killed. It was the first time she had used her vampirism power to do it. She knew that some shift had happened inside her now. Control would be harder to maintain.

Andy wasn't certain how Magento would respond to the situation, and that was alright. She didn't think he'd punish her or anything like the others seemed to be concerned about. He wasn't overprotective. Honestly, she would be surprised if he acknowledged it. She did worry that if he did decide to acknowledge it and came to the school or something like that the truth about where...or rather when she came from would get out. Who all knew she was from the past? She had kept it a secret as best as she could. Magento knew, Zari's parents knew, and obviously her mother. Likely Agatha knew, guessing from the reading she had given. But Agatha wasn't at the school anymore so that wasn't an issue.

Of all things, the most surprising was that none of the adults were mentioning the double Mary Sue's in the room. She suspected as soon as double Andy and Zari's came up the stairs it'd be a different matter.

Sabine Bassard

Fit of the Day: Gym Outfit
Skills: Acting

All was as well as it could be. That's what Sabine told herself to avoid the fact that there was trauma bonding happening as well as injured people. Still, she had her girls with her and that was not nothing.

Before she could radiate in the warmth of her girlfriends, in walked Captain Marvel, Hawkeye, She-Hulk, and Scarlet Witch. Sabine had to keep her hero worship down to a minimum, but they were not here for a social call. It seemed that clearing up the mess that Arcade had caused was the order of the day. Hopefully, Arcade would be given some leniency as Dorian asked for. She was still mad and had every right to be. But when people hurt you, inflicting pain back on them solves nothing. As much as she was an advocate for returning energy, she saw Arcade's memories. The boy was hurt. Hurt people hurt people. He needed therapy. And he should pay for his crimes.

Her thoughts were disrupted when She-Hulk made it clear no one was leaving to return to some semblance of normalcy until their parents were informed. Sabine groaned inwardly but stopped herself. She looked at Leah and April. Her girls had horrible family dynamics in one way or another. While she detested her step-mom and felt she was the root cause of evil in the world, she wasn't some monster like Leah's father or some actual super villain like Magneto. Compared to that, Sabine had it pretty good. And, she would admit, her father was not present, but he cared in a way.

So Sabine made a plan.

"No, you two sneak out. I am going to distract them while you guys head back to the dorm. I do not mind if my parents are called. My father will be worried and my step-monster will make it all about herself, but that pales in comparison to what you two got. Go, I got this."

Sabine, wet and injured, made her way over to She-Hulk. "I can give you my father's number, but I should warn you that he isn't going to care much. God, the stories I could tell you. My step-mother is the worst. You think Thanos is bad? This woman would snap her fingers in a heartbeat if it meant all eyes would be on her. Forget righting the universe's wrongs." Sabine went on and on relaying how awful her step-mother is and how annoying her step-siblings are.

Mary Sue Sullivan

Location: Framework Area
Skills:

Magical healing was absolutely a new feeling, and as new blood filled her body and holes began to patch themselves Mary Sue tried to steady herself. Physical wounds, of course, could be healed any which way (or in this case, any witch way.), but with the way her education was going, Mary Sue had to make sure she was made of tougher stuff. It was hard to internalize that brutal injury was on the table, and that she'd have to keep getting up every time she endured it. Upon being asked about which parent to call, her and bonus Mary Sue made a brief, nauseous bit of eye contact, before quickly deciding that obviously this was a "let mom know and pray she didn't tell dad" kind of situation, and simultaneously rattled off Niah's contact info.

Bonus Mary Sue, if not for the absurdity and terror of the current situation, would have been absolutely losing her mind at being surrounded by the heroes she adored, but things had honestly become surreal and difficult to process at this point. The vertigo was still awful, and at this point, she wanted her friends to be able to take her where she had to go to close the loop. This almost felt like the sort of thing they should have classes on, but it was maybe an edgecase, so that might not be generally applicable.

As she walked, Vicky was worried a little what she would do if some of the lowlifes tried to make a move on her. She was switching between emotions like a pendulum and didn't trust herself to hold back until she managed to clear her head. Fortunately, her state of mind seemed to permeate throughout her whole being as the couple of people she has met on her way seemed to cross the street in a hurry when they noticed her.

Unfortunately, the bouncer at the club was not impressed and told her off. Briefly she entertained the idea of y climbing the building and making her way in through a different point of entry, but after some rational thought managed to take root in her chaos ridden processes, she abandoned her quest and went to a nearby park to be alone with her maddening thoughts. Checking whether the spot she picked wasn't claimed by a bum for this night, she lied down in the grass and stared up at the sky, barely a star being visible through all of the light pollution emitted by the town.

For just a brief moment, she managed to just look up at the great dark beyond, nary a thought in her head. Finally, a brief moment of peace in the torrent of thought. What am I doing here? she asked herself finally. I've been here for two years before now, and I don't think I was ever so miserable. To think that having little to no friends and no social life would be less of a pain than getting out there and making 'friends'. And where did it get me? Being shoved into a role I don't care for on a team of people who I mostly don't get along with. Or people who would stab me in the back!

A new spike of anger washed over her, and her clenching fists torn the blades of grass from it's roots where they rested. That bastard. Not only did he play her like a fiddle, but he- The anger flew away and was replaced with something else entirely. GET OUT OF MY HEAD! she remembered herself screaming as she was in the background, watching her body being used to wipe out her classmates. Vicky pulled her arms around herself. Violated, that was the word to describe how she felt.

It shouldn't matter. It should not mean anything. Everyone made it out alive, and Edward was handled. She should take it as a learning lesson and move on, there was no logical reason for her to feel like this! This... dirty! Her face scrounged up into a grimace. Brushing a finger under her eye, she looked it, completely dry. "I hate you, Hope." Victoria whispered into the night. Mother, she called her. Some mother that woman was! Likely galivanting through the quantum realm again when she needed her. "I hate you for making me like this. For giving me emotions, but not the shell to process them. I can't cry, I can't dream, and I'll never forget any of it. Thanks for making me so that this will haunt me forever." she sat up, propping herself on her arms. "Machines were not meant to feel." she aired her thoughts at noone.

Feeling a tickle on her palm, she raised her hand to her eyes to look at the culprit. An ant was scurrying about on it. Vicky envied it. A small, simple creature, perfectly fitting into it's own nest's hierarchy. Unburdened by the feelings of not belonging, and having a perfectly defined role to fulfil. What a life. "You go ahead and tell them that." she spoke to the ant. "Tell them that I tried doing what they want me to do, but it is turning me into a wreck. I don't care for it anymore. I'll be their soldier machine, because I do want to protect others. But I don't need to put up a façade of being human to do that. I'm going to do it my way. And if my overlords aren't happy with me, they know where they can find me. Come and try to shut me down." Vicky set the ant back on the ground, got up, dusted herself and headed back to the dorm. She had a ton of stuff to do if she wanted to make sure she was never blindsided like this again.

Zelda Flynn and Zarina Raynordattir

Location: Framework Area
Skills: N/A

Zari was a little weirded out at seeing She-Hulk there, as technically speaking, she was related to her. In a really weird convoluted way anyway, alternate realities are really weird and confusing at times. Made her head spin just thinking about it really. Then came up with the question of how they would really see about calling her parents, though she had a feeling it wasn't going to work out too well. Of course considering Novi and Maria were there, she figured it was going to be a lot easier for them to contact them since they could call her mom.

There was still the issue of the two Mary Sues. Thankfully, the Scarlet Witch had healed the one they had time traveled with, so she didn't have to worry about that. Just had to worry about the doubles. Though this just begged the question of what was taking so long for her and Andy's doubles to come up from the basement. "Well, two of you have a way to get a hold of my parents, I've got something I need to do though that is kind of an issue so excuse me," she said, before grabbing the other Mary Sue to drag her out of the room and towards the basement area.

Zelda was just standing off to the side not openly really saying or anything, everyone else started sort of talking around the issue of talking to their parents and letting them know what happened. Personally she didn't overly care, they probably already knew by now what had happened. So it was just sort of something that was going to happen and be talked about. Danni was freaking out over talking to his parents, so it was kind of dragging the attention away a little.

April was kind of being quiet and not saying anything, which considering she just destroyed the room and nearly killed others in the room from her freakout. Zelda contemplated saying something to her sister, but figured against considering that she was surrounded by Leah and Sabine at this point. This was going to be interesting to hear what her parents were going to say though when they eventually showed up or something and talked about it.

11:50 PM - Tue. November 23rd, 2038 - Margaret Carter Institute

Everyone: She-Hulk will get the info for contacting your parent/guardian, and will make the call on her phone. It isn't her personal phone, it seems like one issued for Avengers business. The phone call will open with her explaining that there was an incident at the school with a supervillain, that your character was involved, but everyone is okay. She-Hulk will then say that she will be staying on site with the affected students until a parent/guardian can come to retrieve them, and that the Avengers can help pay for transportation costs for families this would pose a hardship for. At this point, she will pass the phone over to your character, so they can speak with their parent/guardian directly.

If you need specific dialogue or dialogue responses from She-Hulk, please send me a DM on Discord, with the relevant text that needs to be responded to. I will do my best to respond to each within 24 hours. Do not anticipate to get more than 2-3 bonus lines of dialogue, however. The majority of your post should be your character talking with their guardian.

April nodded guiltily, as Leah and Sabine quickly put a plan into motion. She didn't want to run away - or more of, she didn't want to be seen as someone who would run away - but curling into a ball in her girlfriends' rooms felt like the best thing for her in that moment. She was emotionally exhausted, beyond wiped out. Her entire body was simultaneously numb and over stimulated, shaking and still, her heart void of feeling and overflowing. She'd lost her mind, and the shame had yet to quite sink in - the embarrassment that would soon come, as the dullness of her senses went away, and the realization of how much destruction she had caused in her panic would sink in. She was deathly afraid of being like them, of losing control... And now she had.

None of her friends had died... this time.

So as Sabine started to distract She-Hulk, April let herself be whisked away from Leah - a softly whispered goodbye to her friends and her sister, the ever so slight wave of a trembling hand - as she crept her way to the door. Her head was down, her eyes at the floor, so much so that she almost didn't notice as she nearly walked into an incredibly buff wall of green and violet.

"Going somewhere?" She-Hulk asked, crossing her arms. Even with Sabine's distraction, her perception was uncanny - and the stealth of two high school students was not.

April swallowed thickly. "Uh just this... just the bathroom," she squeaked out, her face burning crimson. "I can... um... I can give you my parents' number now? Well, it's her parents' too - not her, but her," she floundered, gesturing towards Zelda. "It's pretty late in DC so they might not answer the phone, but um... We have to call them? Right, yes, of course - of course we do, Madam She-Hulk, ma'am... uh... Sorry," she rambled, before reciting her mother's phone number.

"Deep breaths, kid," She-Hulk said sympathetically, before dialing the number. She quickly spoke on the phone, explaining everything that had happened, and that they needed to come pick up April and her sister, before She-Hulk passed the phone over to April and put it on speaker, waving Zelda to come on over.

"Shit, girls, are you alright? I'm waking your father up now, we'll be on the first quinjet from DC to come and get you. Are you hurt? Has a doctor looked at you?" April's mother, Bonnie, a director of SHIELD and the champion of the goddess Athena, said. It made her body tremble to hear her mother's voice.

"Um. We're fine and not dead yet..." Zelda muttered.

"What's going on?" her dad's voice muttered in the background.

"The girls were nearly murdered - there was an attack at the school - get dressed, I've already requisitioned a ship."

"Y-yeah..." April murmured, her cheeks still bright red from She-Hulk quite literally stopping her at the door. "We're... fine...."

"What????????"

"We're fine, the guy is dealt with," Zelda argued, clearly not wanting to be part of this conversation.

"April, I need you to take care of your sister, okay?" Bonnie ordered. In the background of the call, April could hear bags shifting - probably her parents' go-bags, packed just in case of an emergency. "Keep her calm. Until we get there, I want you to stay with Maria, okay?"

"I... Y-yes, I can... I can do that! Um, yes, keeping Zelda calm, that is my priority - and - and listening to... listening to Maria."

"...I'm calmer than she was a few minutes ago, mom I don't need her to keep me calm, it's fine. The psycho is dealt with... Actually knowledge of video games came in handy for once other than for my costumes."

"....What? Listen, go stay with Maria, I have to get off the phone. But if anything changes, call me IMMEDIATELY, okay? Swear it on the goddess. Both of you."

"....I.... I swear..."

"...I swear. It's fine though nothing is going to happen... Probably."

The phone call ended, and She-Hulk went up to Dorian next. "Number, please - and don't worry about him," she added, motioning towards Arcade. "He'll get a fair trial."

Percy, meanwhile, was in conversation with his sister. Diana had raised a question to him, asking why he was tolerating his boyfriend's pleas for Arcade. Neither of them needed to provide contact information for their parents - their mothers were already here - so the two of them didn't have to go line up by She-Hulk. And their parents were currently discussing logistics with the other Avengers, and making calls for bringing Arcade to a secure facility for questioning.

But as he looked at Dorian, the answer came to him. "Because he wouldn't be who he is otherwise," he answered his sister, purposefully speaking in English rather than returning in Russian. Part of Dorian's personality and self was his compassion - even if it was flawed. Percy couldn't fault him for that. It was part of what he loved about him.

There was no use in fighting it. Their family was going to get contacted one way or another, so after another request to provide the number Dorian finally fished his phone out of his pocket to see if it still worked. Curse the waterproof technology (even if it was helpful most of the time due to his water attuned friend). He was glad to hear that Arcade would get a fair trial, and a part of him hoped that She-Hulk would be his lawyer to help with making sure the court or council would see Arcade's newest change. While She-Hulk was on the phone with his father, Dorian propped his back against the wall, running his hand alongside the back of his head where a phantom pain still lingered from where he had a recent injury.

He began to disassociate for a moment, thinking about how they finally came so close to being the winners of the Contest of Champions, and now it all threatened to be taken away because of one phone call. Years of hard work, and finally finding a guy who likes him that he likes back. Dorian's attention shifted to Percy, standing across the room from him as he and his sister spoke about something in private. He offered him a weak smile from where he stood, wanting to go talk to him but unable to as he waited for She-Hulk to finish the call. He must not have heard her voice the first few times until he felt a gentle hand press against his shoulder. She-Hulk was handing him the phone. It was on speaker, and the number on the screen was his father’s, Max.

” ‘ey I'm fine, we're fine. T'ere's no need to worry really.” Dorian explained trying to ensure he didn't get all riled up.

”No need to worry? No need to worry?! The Avengers are at your doorstep in the middle of the night for a threat and you think we shouldn't worry?” Max's voice rang through the phone. ”And where's Danni? Why can't I hear him?”

“‘ey Maxie! Dee's right, we're fine! A little wet, but not'in’ t'at won't dry out! Ya know, ‘ad a little too much fun wit’ a video game, t’at’s all! We just didn’t know what ta do wit’ t’e baddie, and t’en t’e Avengers got it all taken care of.” Danni spoke with quickly, grimacing at Dee. He’d really hoped that Maxie would have been a little more chill but if Maxie was stressed, Danni didn’t want to know the kind of chewing out they’d get from Benji and Pops.

“And, I t’ink we should note it down t’at we won against our first villian! T’ough, I kinda feel bad callin’ ‘Cadie a villian? ‘e’s super changed, like instantly when ‘e realized we beat ‘im! It was almost like magic, ‘onestly.” Danni frowned thoughtfully, but brushed it off. “Guess ‘e’s a good guy under all t’at wantin’ ta murder us stuff! But since everyt’in’ is easy-peasy, lemon-squeezy, we can just forget it all ‘appened and get late night beignets right?”

Max let out a long sigh, with equal measures of relief, frustration, and pride. The sound of a wooden door closing behind him in the background as he made his way through the house. ”Most of them are good people underneath it all. Just need a little understanding and a lot of help to pull it out. I'll say this before I'm within earshot of James, good job on both defeating and reforming your first villain. You two truly will make a change for the future.” His tone was a bit more collected now, leveled as he spoke until it took a sharp turn. ”Now comes the part where I get James involved in this all. You're Lucky that Casper and Ben are out this week on a trip, but not so lucky that you won't escape James' speeches and chastisement about safety.”

Dorian groaned. Lucky? They'd have to have this conversation twice now once the other two came back. The second one may even be worse than the first given who the pair would be. ”Really, we aren't even injured.”. Which was technically true, even if his face had strings of red drying off him from the injury that no longer existed.

What little preening Danny had done at Max's praise quickly turned into a grimace at Pops name. “Nooooooo! Maxie you're supposed ta be t'e cool parent. Don't tell Pops. Let ‘im sleep. ‘e'll be all grumpy about t'is! Can't we just like… wait until tomorrow? We can't reason wit’ ‘im when ‘e is tired!”

“When who's tired?” James voice was quiet, still far away, but it grew louder as he spoke. “Everything okay, kiddo? You're normally in bed by now. You sleepin’ okay, need anything to help?”

”Oh they have all the help they could need right now. They have the Avengers with them. You two want to tell him why? Or should I?”

Danni danced in place, a distressed whine making it clear he certainly did not want to tell James anything. “Cool parent card revoked.” Danni grumbled, ignoring the quiet snort of laughter from his Pops. “Pops, just remember when I tell you t'at really, not'in’ bad is permanent and t'at really it was a great lesson t'at we learned a lot from.” Danni laughed nervously. “Sooooo, we sorta kinda maybe like, snuck out ta train a little more and our friend Ed is like, so smart so ‘e ‘acked t'e virtual trainin’ t'ing’ so we all got in and t'en ‘e revealed ‘e was ‘Cadie and tried ta like, I don't know, trap us in a video game kill world and split us all up, but our friends are awesome and managed ta get us out and we overpowered ‘im and t'e only real problem was t'at we didn't know ‘ow ta get ‘I'm ta t'e authorities but t'e Avengers showed up and everyt'in’ is gucci!”

Max muted the line, silence taking their place as he looked at James with shock and a bit of jealousy. ”You're telling me those kids got SAO'd. It actually happened and not in a reality warping way but honest to god video game?!”

There was a long silence from the phone before it was taken off mute and Danni could see Pops rubbing the bridge of his nose and his voice firmly level. “Okay, okay kiddo, take a breath. Are you both alright? Is Dorian there too? Do you or your friends need immediate medical attention?”

Dorian looked at Danni, worried at how long the pause was. Usually the longer it took the worse they'd be. ”I'm ‘ere. We're bot’ fine and no one is injured. T'e Novikovas are ‘ere too along wit’ Wanda so no worries.” He said trying to cut in before Danni opened his mouth again. Why did he mention them sneaking out? That was worse than a villain! They could've gotten kicked out of the Contest for this or worse, grounded. He smacked Danni's arm and gave him a look saying ‘you said too much’.

‘Hey!’ Danni protested silently, rubbing his arm where Dee hit him.

“Okay, good. I'm glad that the Avengers have the situation under control and you two are okay. ” James sighed. “And you're both grounded as soon as you get home. We'll talk about what that looks like tomorrow once you guys get some food in you and a decent night's sleep, but it sounds like you two made some reckless decisions that put yourself and your friends in an incredibly dangerous situation. We talked about what was expected of you two when you went to this school and you didn't uphold your end of that deal. I'm glad you're okay, but I'm disappointed that you put yourself in this position.”

“Sorry, Pops. We just wanted ta be t'e best and t'is seemed like t'e best way ta catch up ta T'e Young Avengers.” Danni explained weakly, his voice cracking as his eyes started tearing up.

Dorian winced when James said they were disappointed. That was worse than being mad! At least with anger they could cool off and forget about it but this? It was a constant reminder of how stupid they had acted just to get ahead of other kids. ”Sorry…”

Max could understand where the kids were coming from. After all, they were competing against two children of The Scarlet Witch. It was a long shadow to have to fight through, but even so part of being a hero was knowing that it wasn't ok to put others in danger to further your own goals. ”I can see you two have already realized that what you did was reckless and also more dangerous than it was worth. But that doesn't mean we are having a lengthy lecture about heroism and the safety of others and yourself when you get home. James and I can discuss the finer points of your grounding in the morning. For now, we're just glad you're both safe.”

“Okay, we're going to get changed and portal over. We'll help you pack up ‘cause I know you were waiting until the morning, Danni. Do you need any extra bags or anything, boys?” James asked.

“Late nate beignets and hot chocolate?” Danni sniffled pathetically, tears already starting to trickle.

“Already planning on it when we finish packing, kiddo.” James chuckled fondly. “Dorian, do you need anything?”

”To be ungrounded because we reformed our first villain?”

“That's what the beignets are for, buddy.” James said. “We'll let you two say bye to your friends and we'll be over in a second. We love you both so much.” The line went dead and Dorian handed the phone back to She-Hulk.

Leah was not in a good mood right now. She Hulk didn’t seem to understand that mutants with powers like April’s needed space when things disturbed them. So if course they couldn’t just be left the fuck alone. They couldn’t just breathe and get their thoughts together. Leah was not, under any circumstances, about to just tell the Avengers that her dad was an outlandishly dangerous mercenary that used to regularly act like he could handle several of them at once.

”I don’t have anyone to call. No, I’m not going to elaborate on that, so don’t ask,” She said while Dorian and Dani were talking to what sounded like several people at once. ”It’s just me, and you already know about this.”

“Just you?” She-Hulk raised an eyebrow

”Just me. I pretty much live here year-round.”

“Seriously?” She-Hulk’s eyes narrowed, looking around the room, before focusing on a sight that Leah wouldn’t be able to see. “Do none of you know how a school works for minors? You can’t just not have a guardian.”

”You’d be surprised.”

“It’s not optional!”

”It’s not really a big deal,” Leah half-shrugged. ”Never has been. I’m perfectly capable of sorting things out myself when I need to.”

“Hold on, let me finish this,” She-Hulk said, before returning her attention to Leah. “It’s actually a huge deal. If you don’t have a guardian, then you’re a ward of the state. But something tells me if I were to call CPS, they’d never have heard of you. Am I right or am I right?”

”No. They wouldn’t. But I’m not really worried about that. I don’t have any reason to be worried about it.”

She had a feeling this was going to be a long and really pointless conversation. One that she couldn't get away from.

Shit.
