~Shizune Yoshida~
“Didn’t I tell you before? Wait, no, you weren’t with us…that makes more sense,” Shizune said, more to herself than to Lexy but still turned to answer her question. “I’ve been to this realm before and I know people don’t survive down here unless they stop questioning their surroundings and start sticking together. Try to understand that Alexis.”
Shizune’s voice held no malice but it was evident that she was getting a little irritated at how the others were still gawking. Yes, they were in a nightmare world and that meant they needed to get out of said world as quickly as possible. At least Katashi seemed to have his head on straight by commenting on the words on the wall, no doubt intended to plant doubt inside of them.
She had her own thoughts on who this distrustful male was but she would keep that to herself. What she didn’t expect for was Katashi to move closer to her and talk about Yuriya of all people. Shizune had to bite down the instinct to slap him because she already knew the boy had been eyeing her friend for a while, just by the way he looked at her.
“I’ll think about it,” she finally said, expression stoic and neutral. “You’re a better choice than some of the males in this group,” she continued, glancing at both Jack and Anri. Speaking of which, both of them did not escape Shizune’s notice. Seeing Anri lord over the lighter like a godsend made her question if it was worth keeping him around for much longer.
Then there was Jack who just seemed to follow everyone around like a lost puppy, no direction of his own to use. Typical. The last to observe was Yuriya and much like herself, the dark-haired girl was paying close attention to how everyone else reacted. That prompted the shadow of a grin to leap onto Shizune’s face with how similar they were…yet the soon dropped to her usual frown as they stumbled at a dead end to the hallway.
Dead end? That didn’t make sense because this was supposed to lead them right toward the laboratories. What was worse was that there was an object placed right in front of them, emphasizing how much of a dead end this was. An altar of some sort with a picture of crayon-like people; if each of them payed close attention, they could make out themselves in the image.
What was most striking was that each person was crossed out with crude red markings, the same style of the words on the wall. The only one not crossed out was a figure of a girl with a flame in her hand. Shizune looked down to read the title of the picture before slowly turning a deathly glare, focusing her red orbs straight on Anri.
The title read, “Do Not Trust Him”.
