If every time the Magna Pater rises, it eventually gets put down, how is it that it comes to rise again?: That actually depends on who killed it. The player that kills it can choose a way for the fresh, young replacement to enter the world. Naturally it won't just pop up out of the corpse only to die again, and it certainly won't just teleport somewhere safe to grow strong and experienced once more. It's something to be worked out, for the sake of fairness.

Why is it so difficult to kill?: It's difficult to kill permanently, yes, but keep in mind that the new Alpha would be far weaker than the original. It would be smaller, entirely inexperienced, and far, far less ferocious. One could capture it and lock it up for good, without much trouble if they were strong enough to beat the previous Alpha.

Where did it come from?: It's always been. Whatever's beyond that, is a mystery.

What are it's origins?: Mystery again. It's been places, certainly, but its deep past is unknown and unknowable. It's a primeval vampire, a pure monster in and of itself.

Does it have a cult following?: Not a chance. Not even the most extreme cultists would try to worship this bad boy.

Certainly older vampires would know about it and have documented history on it: It's a dread horror that preys on anything it can, favoring the small, helpless, and juicy. That's about all they'd know or need to know about it. They probably tried wiping it out and succeeded here and there, only for a new one to pop up a few decades later. This particular one is mean enough to have lasted twenty centuries, though. If other Magna Paters are sharks, this one is Jaws.

Tell me more about how it could become a part of the main plot or a part of the story in general: A spook that stalks in the background, adding a layer of suspense and danger to the plot. I say let events unfold the old fashioned way.

What are it's weaknesses?: It hates light, but doesn't burn in it. Holy stuff does nothing. Its biggest weakness is when it activates the Malocchio. It has to shut down its other senses to do so, which leaves it unable to react to ambushes or traps.
It can also be killed instantly via destruction of the heart or brain.

Are you going to give it a personality at all?: It does have a personality, which I detailed in the profile beneath Behavior. Its sadistic and sentient, taking pleasure in both physically and mentally breaking down victims before eating them alive. It isn't ambitious, because at its core it hates change, just like all petty bastards. It likes being stronger, its proud and greedy of its status, and by dominating others it boosts its own foul ego whilst reveling in their pain.

Short and sweet, its a feral but wise villain with absolutely no goodness in its grimy heart. It exists just to be a bad, bad thing.

Does it have thoughts? Telepathic?: It has thoughts, but they are entirely malignant and incomprehensible by human standards. It is only telepathic with its brood, but it can see through the eyes of those it has cursed. It can't see their thoughts, only their sight.

No.

You must have a clear origin of being. A Blackbox is highly inappropriate here. The backstory is important here since it creates a sense of history of the vampire in a global setting. That being said you have a monstrosity that hasn't been killed in 2k years by any of the elders who are far older than it, save for perhaps Dracula who died early. Without a known lineage, or balanced design, this is simply a one shot boss fight that offers little as a character and more as an npc encounter.

In other news, I shall most likely do my cogm duties post tomorrow evening after another round of tension in the bar.

Here's an app for ya.

Very bad balancing on the powers and abilities.

First it is a phoenix which cannot truly die, therein it seems like a character which cannot be removed by any
means. The only method of death is metadata where the roleplayer no longer continues to rp, at which we cannot quite kill it off.

Second it has an quadrupaling rate of minion generation with any living thing of at least 70 pounds (please stick to either metric or customary, you switched from kilos to pounds, hence from mass to force) which in 2k years, it would have amassed probably more descendants than there are people on earth.

Third, you haven't addressed weaknesses sufficient to balance the creature to the point where it is blatantly OP, hence I assume you wish to play a powerful, world changing vampire, yet offer no backstory and logic as to why it was allowed to live this long if indeed it is the OP threat you make it to be.

Fourth, as much as I love hovercraft as much as the next cultist, I'm against interdimensional cosmic horrors here, unless you want people to start playing as primeval vampire gods that predate this world.

Also, I am familiar with your level of roleplay Gonad, if I'm a bit cautionary it is because the OPness is quite open here and I'm trying to judge maturity levels in usage of powers and abilities, but since you have not given me more than lazy blackboxes, I'm going to have to assume these powers are going to be used indiscriminately through the rp without regard as to how it will impact the larger scale of things.

But the lineage is known. It is its own lineage, which has always been around. I guess the very first Magna Pater was simply hatched from the fires of creation?
If you want the full history, good luck. Waaaay too many events to even begin describing. I gave it a history, a relevant one that's easy to understand. It lives here, it eats here, everything hates it. What more could possibly be needed?

No idea what you mean by "balanced design". I don't recall identifying it as a boss fight. It doesn't play by the rules of other thinking beings. It's a patient killer that bides its time, singling out one victim at a time to personally and intimately antagonise over a long period of time.

I say it has a fair bit more to offer than pointless two-bit romances between pretty faced palies that grew up in fine clothes and in fancy castles.

Easy fix, I can just edit out the Alpha and Reincarnation abilities, and remove the parts that mention how it can be called to other realms.

As for Gonad, he was literally made to be as fair as possible. It's even in his profile.

So you are creating a new vampire line, which of itself requires the origin of the line to be made relatively clearer than it just was, is, and will be. You give me 2k years of history, important events happened in that time period in the world, and unless your proposed cosmic horror is inactive all that time, it should have some sort of history. If not a slice of its origin, will suffice and what it has done all this time up to this point.

It is a giant monstrous beast vampire that's 14 feet long and about the weight of a tank. And this is its normal state of being, Solider will send in the big guns to kill it. hence, though you do not believe it is a boss fight, unless you can integrate it seamlessly into this rp logically, it will become a boss fight since it is the most powerful thing on the board if accepted as is. Hence, regardless of how you intended it, it makes no sense for us to just let it sit and fester.

Ergo, I must ask, since you brought it up, what does it offer the rp? If not the boss fight, how did you intend on playing the character without objectifying it as the common enemy? See the part I don't understand about this character is that there is no room for character growth via character interactions making it rather flat since who wants to interact with something that merely eats things? It has the personality and goals of a singe celled organism. There is no backstory, no higher motivations beyond personal needs, no real reason for it to be considered a non-npc. Unless you can find it one and someone to play along.

I mean I suppose you can go the Moby Dick route, but that's between you and your Ahab.

And no, it's not just you, I'm this critical with all applications, if you look at my previous posts in deciding if a character is to be accepted or not since I'm tasked to be the impartial judge foe setting the balance of things and keeping the rp semi-realistic with respect to the line of events and structure of immersion.

I like it, kinda reminds me of Jaunty from Shadowman but a much bigger meaner and hungrier version. The only thing that im not so fgond of is the fact you will probabbly have little actual interaction with the players aside from it trying to kill us or others. Great concept but is a multi collaboration roleplay designed to generally coexist with the other players? Sure being a constant threat in the shadows is pretty badass but after a while it would just get tedious no? Plus the gm would have to sidetrack his main story to make way for this lurking beast thing constantly out to kill us (or npc's)

I know im nobody in this discussion and you have every right to ignore my criticism even though your character is one well imagined and pretty damn badass character, having minimal ways to interact with the other players as well as not being able to be seen in public would severely limit your roleplaying abilities.

Its gonna be a tough challenge, i know it would be for me. That being said, i like the character too much to say no :) but if you think your up for the challenge and GM's give the ok. You got my vote :)

I can work in some history for the last two-thousand years.
And a tank? I said it weighed as much as a tiger, dude.

Anyways, I get that it's a real nasty, and like a killer beast folks will want it gone. Thing is, it's a personal enemy. It would pick on one character at a time, making itself their personal nemesis. I won't say kill them, because honestly, it's not as powerful as you think. It can be a real nightmare for someone that has no tactical sense, but with a little elbow grease and the right kind of offence, it can be beaten by a single character.

Case in point, its latest fight in the Arena. Take a gander. I'd say it would have a fair bit of trouble taking on more than one strong vampire at a time.
By the way, this is a good chance to read the book after looking at the cover. I'll include some of its other matches after the one it died in, so you can get a real taste for its actual strength and personality.

Note how in The Soil of a Man's Heart, I gave Edrik a very good warning of the looming threat so that he could prepare his character for round #2 (which he never showed up for, because you know, us Arena types easily forget about unranked matches when a more important roleplay pops up). He had many days to think up a game plan. I like creating an intense story, an experience. Winning the fight isn't a top priority.

That's entirely the point. It seems like a character set best in the arena. How would we interact with it outside of the Moby Dick? Outside of being a common enemy, despite picking off enemies one a time (given that reduced power you would submit by lowering the prodigious spawn rate of its minions) it would still be considered a major threat just due to its presence as a "monsterous" vampire, rather than one that blends into the public. And since It doesn't seem to have a political pull, it currently may be treated as a feral vampire since it has no clear distinction its domain of control. I suspect solider would keep tabs on it, although only focus on it should it act out since it would seem to be a rather horrific public terror.

I mean to use the word tank not in the sense of the physical tank, but the metaphysical concept, as in a "bulwark." Sorry for the confusion. That being said it is physically monstrous enough to encourage extermination. Maybe even for sport. That being said, what do you plan to do with the character? Since you have yet to answer this main question posed since there are few logical interactions I can see happening.

As Roman mentioned, this thread is about the fine line of coexistence between the characters and factions. Failure to maintain the brinksmanship would result in total war breaking out and I'm not sure if Wraith wants a complete and total war... Yet. Certainly we'd eventually have the climatic showdown I'm sure but until then most of the thread can build tension with a few skirmishes and interactions here and there until we reach a natural breaking point.

Wraith will throw in some GM opinions. I'm primarily worried about adequate interactions, plot building and reasonable balancing.

Just my two cents here:

I uhm... don't really like the idea of having some super powerful eldritch horror creature with no real weakness to balance out it's overpowered abilities just "lurking" in the shadows. It's not even an accepted race, so if it ends up joining the RP whats stopping everyone from making their own "primeval" vampire god-monster hellbent on ruining some guy's day? Or would the current subject be the only one allowed because having a ton of disgusting evil monsters running rampant would derail the RP? If so, where's the fairness? Why should Doctor's overpowered animal be the only one around? This would be an interesting concept if utilized by a GM to drive the plot further down the line, but just letting one player have complete dominion over all of the other characters with an arguably lazy creation that doesn't even bother detailing it's history in the slightest? Letting that thing into the RP in it's current state would be an affront to everything this RP is about anyways; The interactions between the players and various factions.

I have to agree with this guy ^^^ purely on the basis that the last time we let something even slightly OP slide, HIVE nuked Seattle, Adam let VAMPIRE ZOMBIES run about. (i may or may not have made an underground organisation that was dope asf, but may have been slightly Op). I personally think it took away from blood compact what it is fundamentally about. Vampire, Humans and werewolves

Edit: I'm going to explain this the best way I know how. WITH SCIENCE. Let's imagine that Vampires SOLDIER and werewolves are three reactants and the RP is the reaction and the final battle or whatever wraith wants to do to Capp this off is the end product. Now let's look at this OP character for a minute, it is essentially a catalyst. You know what a catalyst does? It speeds up the rate of reaction. To put that into context with this. The introduction of this character will make the RP end faster and nobody wants that. So there you have it an awesome explanation. SCIENCE
