Bio

This is my second profile on here, and I have been Play-By-Post RPing for about nine years now. I do my best to see every RP to the end or at least let my character come to his/her own dramatic conclusion when I feel like signing off. Just like novel writing in real life, I tend to find myself on long hiatuses. Since writing is a great way to work out your brain, I try stay engaged as much as possible.

My favorite genres include futuristic worlds, mysteries, and super powers. Any mixture of these three elements will peek my interest.

Sorry, just got back from a family vacation. Didn't mean too take so long.

@Darkmoon Angel Hey, I took time off, too. No worries.

Sorry that I havent posted yet, had been dealing with covid and have been out of it, but I'll try to get something together

I understand completely. Nobody needs to feel rushed. But @BladeSS4 and @Darkmoon Angel, would one of you like to claim the next go, to summarize your character's point of view for the first week of training?
@FalloutJack Nice post! You're up @Double!

@Stuzzie@Darkmoon Angel@BladeSS4
As for you three, you all still have one more post before I skip time forward. OR we can use your posts to skip the time forward??? Kill two birds with one stone... Yeah, I like that idea! It will work better for the pace at which we're posting.

So there are three weeks until the big bad shows up. Your training will be split into three phases:

Week 1: This will be the general conditioning and assessment week. You will all be doing things like climbing the mountains of the islands (These are big islands with big volcanic mountains that are inactive). And you will be sparing against one another as well.

Week 2: This will be the flight training and technique mastery week. This is where you will be introduced to basic ki control that allows you to fly (not hi-speed traveling kind of flying, but still flying). You will also use this week to improve your current special technique and/or develop a new one.

Week 3: This will be teamwork and cram week. You will all be using what you learned to fight against Lazuli and Krillin. Krillin will be wearing his (much heavier) version of the Master Roshi turtle shell, and he will be refraining from using any techniques beyond basic ki blasts. Otherwise, they won't be taking it easy on you.

Whoever wants to go first can summarize Week 1 from their character's point of view. Whoever goes second, does Week 2, and so forth. After everyone has posted, it will be my turn... and I have a special surprise in store for you all.

The Hitchhiker

Litwick jumped off the front of Reno's bike before he had a chance to stop her. 'Shit.' he thought to himself. He didn't know why she jumped, but he couldn't just leave the little Pokemon behind. It obviously had a knack for getting lost.

So he began his decent. Luckily he didn't have that far down left to go, as they were almost back at the Pokemon Lab already. Once he could turn around he did, headed back toward where Litwick had jumped. When he got to the area where she should have landed, he couldn't see her. Surely she was in the area, but finding her would be difficult; she was just SO tiny.

That's when he heard a screeching noise, that sounded a lot like the noise the Litwick had made to get his attention when he met her. 'That can't be good.' he thought, and zoomed straight toward the sound.

He found Litwick in no time. She wasn't far away. If she were an average sized Pokemon, he probably would have seen her first. In any case, he was here now, and just in time it seemed. Litwick was facing off against two mean looking Spinarak.

"You sure know how to find trouble don't you?" Reno said, as he got off his hoverbike and took off his helmet. The Spinarak seemed momentarily stunned by the new arrival, but this didn't last long.

It was, however, just long enough for him to pull out Fennekin's Pokeball and summon her into battle. "Litwick, if you know any Fire type moves yet, now would be the time to use one. Together, we can scare these spiders away." He then turned his attention to his own Pokemon. "Fennekin, use ember on the left Spinarak!"

This wasn't how he pictured his first Pokemon battle, but it was now or never. He hadn't had any time to practice with his Fennekin, but if his studies were right, she should know Ember by the time she was ready to go off with a trainer. Fortunately, he was correct. The tip of Fennekin's tail caught fire with a small flame. She then swung it, and sent the little bit of fire straight at her target!

@Zanavy
Ok, I like the more concrete explanations. So I guess we're playing angsty teens now. XD

Kinda tracks for my character at least.

Haha! Yes, there's a chance that being a teenager stuck in a child's body might make one a little angsty, but it's up to the player if that's how they want to play it. 😁👍

Alright you two. I think I have covered all of your questions in the updated OOC Post. I've also added some lore to the game. Let me know if you have any more questions! That was fun!

In-Depth Background Information
The Serum

This RP starts by ushering in a new century (i.e. 2100), and in this century, there have many technological strides forward, especially in the world of medicine. The biggest milestone in this field came in the year 2033, when a serum was developed that could slow down the aging process by nearly 200% while also boosting the user's immune system, making them invulnerable to nearly all known viruses and diseases. It was the cure to cancer and much more. Those that could afford regular doses of the serum could effectively live three times as long as the average person and with no fear of falling ill ever again.

At first, only the rich could afford the serum. Over the next couple decades, as the process became cheaper and more mass-producible, more people could afford it. All the while, it was becoming more and more effective, slowing the effects of aging by a staggering amount.

In the year 2055, governments world-wide made a collective decision. The serum was taken off the market. It was instead mixed with the general water supply. This diluted version of the serum would then spread all across the world, curing all diseases and slowing everyone's aging by about three times. It was the miracle cure that scientists had always been looking for, but it wasn't without it's opponents...
Generation Gamma

Those born between the years of 2055 and 2079 (20-44 year olds) are part of the Gamma Generation. This Generation has never been exposed to sickness. Nor did they have any say in whether or not they wanted to take a substance that would slow their growth forever. As they say, growing up is based off two things, nature vs nurture. In this case, we must consider how their mindset is effected by being stuck in slowly aging bodies for a much longer period of time than any generation before.

To start, we examine the average 30 year old. This is the average age at which most people are able to attend college and the exact age at which one can become a Pokemon trainer. Physically, these individuals appear to be 10 year olds by pre-serum standards. Mentally however, they have still experienced 30 years worth of life. So how does this effect their mind?

The opposing forces here are the brain (which is also being stunted in its growth like the rest of the body) and the life experiences of the individual. It is a subject that is heavily studied to this very day, but there is one generally accepted rule: 'While the bodies of individuals may be slowed down by a factor of three, the mind is only slowed down by a factor of two.' Thus, 30 year olds, while stuck in 10 year old bodies, are more akin to 15 year olds inside their minds. Then again, it is important to note that this can be highly effected by abnormal life experiences.
@Zanavy@Wayward

Thanks to you both for bringing up the questions about age in this society. I'm going to answer all your questions and more in the 0th OOC post. I'm going to start on that now. It should take me an hour or less hopefully.

I'm going to start using the 0th OOC post for in depth background information, like this.

EDIT: Actually, I'm getting hungry, and I need to go to the store. So I'll do this later today. But I do have the whole day off. So it will get done.
Would I be allowed to introduce minor NPC's for plot points like wild Pokemon attacking, or would that be overstepping my bounds?

Second question: What wild Pokemon are around here, anyway? ^_^'

You can introduce minor NPC's to make the world feel more alive, absolutely! You can control wild Pokemon, other trainers, and regular citizens. Whatever you feel helps the story, is okay with me.

Wild Pokemon near Knoxville, TN are going to be pretty similar to other wild Pokemon breakdowns you have seen for other places in the Eastern part of the USA. Nevertheless, there may be a few minor differences, so here's the breakdown of Pokemon in the greater Knoxville area:
Caterpie, Weedle, Magnemite, Spinarak, Heracross, Zigzagoon, Sableye, Mawile, Bidoof, Shinx, Carnivine, Petilil, Scraggy, Deerling, Rufflet

Also, it's up to you to show these Pokemon in their natural habitat within your posts. For example, to find a Sableye or Mawile, you might want to go spelunking. Or to find a Carnavine, you should be in a forest, not just a park in the middle of the city. I leave this to the player's discretion, unless the Pokemon is extremely out of place. Even then, if their is a good reason for the Pokemon to be displaced, that is okay too.

The Hitchhiker

Reno smiled as the tiny candle Pokemon jumped her way onto this handlebars.

"Okay," He said, still smiling. "So you're lost, and you want to ride up front. Got you." He then paused to think, to think about his next move.

"I got it! You must have gotten on my bike last time I was stopped, back at the Lab. I bet your trainer is waiting for your there, assuming you have a trainer already."

With a destination picked out, Reno turned around and zoomed off, back toward the Pokemon Lab. He half hoped that he wouldn't find a trainer there waiting. Maybe this was a wild Litwick that he could catch for himself... Somehow, he knew that wouldn't be the case.
<Snipped quote>

I feel personally attacked XD

Yay new character!

The ages don't really line up with the expectations, though... unusual detail in an alternate universe.

Oh, right. Good catch. Yes @Wayward, the average age of people attending college in this world is actually 30, around the same age one becomes a trainer. I'll add this into the first OOC post. @Zanavy and I discussed this in another OOC post.

Now, attending college has a more flexible age range than becoming a trainer. Maybe she is extremely gifted and allowed into college a few years early, up to 5 years early I would guess. This would put her age for attending college somewhere around 25, give or take a year or two. But becoming a trainer, has a solid 30 year old mark on it.

Also, until you're done growing, youths age at one third the rate they do today. So an 18 year old in this world would look 6. And this is why the 30 year olds look 10.

Once you hit full physical maturity, the aging process is slowed down even further, to one tenth the normal aging rate.
