Did you know that Dante's inferno is called a divine comedy because things work out for the protagonist? Back in the day, the only two genres were comedy and drama. The only difference was that in a comedy, the protagonist is better off at the end, and a drama is the opposite. So that's why a story about going through hell can still be considered a comedy, even if it's not funny.
Name:
Broken Promise, BP, Boss
Age:
Old enough to know better, too young to care. (that is to say 30's)
Preferred RPs:
I Prefer to make my own, but will occasionally join something if it looks interesting. I'll join just about anything so long as it isn’t overly edgy/sweet, though it's rare for me to do. I don't do 1x1s too often either.
Preferred Roles:
I tend to play adorable characters everyone wants to befriend or proper assholes everyone wants to stay away from. I try not to play moral paragons or prime evils.
RP Conquests:
I've completed quite a few RP's off site, but most of them are on private forums or have simply been lost to the ravages of server crashes. As for stuff here, I'm sure everyone who sees me post in the off topic sections has seen me find an excuse to talk about Danganronpa: Tower of Carnage. It's a project that took over 4 years to complete and I feel pride not only for myself but all the wonderful people who helped make it enjoyable during its run. Re: Zero: The High Council Is technically my first, but it was just something I kind of took over and ended up ending the story after just six months. It finished, but eh...
For some reason I can't seem to stay away from Ari's magical girl RP, even if I'm not sure why I'm still in it.
As for my own projects, I'm doing Symphony on High to continue the gigachad adventures of the espers in Pax Septimus.
RP Graveyard:
I've been pretty fortunate on this forum. I think I joined one when I first came on the site that didn't really do anything, and there are a few 1x1 things that didn't go anywhere. It's disappointing when an RP ends before it can be finished, but I've come to look at them as learning experiences.
And then there's that london magical girl RP, and that dark magical girl RP. I think I'm done joining magical girl RPs for a while.
Other interests:
Videos
I watch a lot of educational videos on youtube. Usually as research for something I’m writing or purely because a topic interests me. I like channels like Tier Zoo and Daryl Talks Games, and I’ll also watch things like Critical Drinker or Literature Devil to deepen my understanding of story telling. Though I also like memes and jokes, to which I’ll find myself watching stuff like Sseth, but usually find myself surfing through meme videos. I gotta work on that.
Games
I have a rather long history of playing virtually every platformer to come into existence during the indie boom, as well as quite a few other indie games. I’ve played Meatboy, Binding of Issac, Gunvolt, Cuphead, Princess Remedy in a World of Hurt, Classic Metroid, Warcraft 3, Final Fantasy 7,8, and 14, Left 4 Dead, Shantae, Celeste, Danganronpa, God Eater, the list goes on. What I’ve played is kind of all over the place. I don’t play many games these days, I tend to pick things that look interesting and go on a decent steam sale.
Painting Minis
I do this in moderation. Otherwise, it's a pretty expensive hobby to start...
Music
I listen to everything, save most country/rap songs. I have too many favorites to name.
Personality:
Not one to take life or the internet too seriously. Is only serious about writing well and having a good time.
Oh, forgot to mention with Evil Eye/Oros they could compete for waifus, both being the seducer type.
<Snipped quote by BrokenPromise> Actually when you put it like that, I can see it working, as long as Kriegspiel feels she's the one in control. She'd make it clear she wouldn't stand for boundary overstepping, so Oros might tone it down around her just to be accepted. Who knows, they might even have romantic chemistry of the domme/sub type.
She'd have to repeat herself a few times I'm sure. but I wouldn't be opposed to it. Though Oros is a switch that defaults to sub, final warning.
@BrokenPromise@LuckyBlackCat, I'd be ok with either of you to say the truth. On the issue of my CS being short, it's most because I was trying to one-up a certain disciple of mine. I'll explain Mercurial better in game with time.
That doesn't help me though. I mean, we have written together in the past and you seem pretty chill. I don't think you wouldn't be viable as a partner or anything. Though all the same, I feel like Oros would know more about Mercurial if they are in the detention squad together. But I won't push the issue.
On the other hand, I think that, if no one can settle on a final decision, and are ok with it, @TheWendil, @CamiCat and I may pick the teams with a dice roll or something like this. Just to get this business sorted and have the girls begin building up their team work.
It's not like we're that far away from getting all the teams sorted, are we?
Schrade & Will of the Wisps are matched up.
Earthshaker and Nyxia Torrentia, Neon Tempest of the Ultraviolet Rainbow verbally showed interest OCly, with Ponn saying they wanted their team up to happen ICly
Emeth said who they wanted for Evil Eye, and while Villamvihar also picked Lucky Black cat, Said black cat looks like their top pick is Acid drop, so it makes sense to let Evil Eye have Shatterscape, as that's their top pick. It might not be finalized, but it looks close.
That leaves Mercurial, Kriegspiel, Acid Drop, and Oros the Joyful. And that's going to get made up as soon as Dark Wolf decides which of us they want to play with. Once that happens, boom, you'll have your teams.
You do what you want, but I don't think I'd randomize it at this stage.
EDIT: Just saw Erode's post. And I mean, yea, that's fair too.
Oh yea, I thought it would be fun to make a tier list, because I love making those. I thought it would be fun to do one based on Oros the Joyful, specifically who would make the best partner for her. I primarily considered player synergy, personality synergy, and fighting synergy. Or in other words:
-How well I know the player. -Chemistry between the character's personalities. (VERY subject to review, as not many people have posted yet) -Ability to play off each other's talents in a fight.
Acid Drop I've liked Dark wolf, but we never get to RP together as players. I usually end up GMing for them or we sparsely interact. I also like the idea of pairing Oros with someone who is immune to being seduced, as Acid Drop can't be made to feel the lust anyone else would. In addition to that, she could hit on others without upsetting her team mate, who likely wouldn't be romantically interested anyway. Also the emotion feedback loop potential is totally bonkers, as Oros can get quite hyper.
Nyxia Torrentia, Neon Tempest of the Ultraviolet Rainbow Ponn is someone else I don't get to play with a ton player to player. Her snarky personality is a perfect balance to Oros's overly friendly nature, and I could see her trying to crush Oros's spirit at every opportunity, or play hard to get. Also would have stupid high DPS as they both fill the "I make stuff die" role at different ranges.
Kriegspiel My GM from another RP. I think the player fascinates me more than the character combo. It's not horrible, it's just not as spectacular as some of the other ones. But I could see Oros's need for acceptance making her easy for Kriegspiel to manipulate, even if she'd have to stay on her toes to keep Oros in check. There's also some interesting synergy with the pawns where they could explode, causing Oros to bleed and become stronger.
Evil Eye Emeth seem like a fun sort. Never played with them though, so a little skeptical. We do have good fun in the discord in the other RP. Evil Eye has no real way of harming people on her own but seems pretty OP against other magical girls. This would be the purified magical girl busting team if it ever happened. Otherwise, Oros's small area of influence means she doesn't get much benefit from Evil Eye's sight.
Shatterscape I played with Villamvihar in the past, but only briefly. I don't know what to make of their personality, so can't comment on that either. I do like the idea of Oros charging towards her next waifu (the enemy) with fake waifus flanking her on either side. But I don't think they have a way of really benefiting each other, as Shatterscape gains nothing out of Oros's presence, and may be a liability to her clones if they get too close.
Earthshaker I didn't get much interaction with Lone wolf in the last RP we did together, but I got the feeling that our needs are a little different. There might be some personality chemistry there with Oros being cute and Earthshaker being stone faced, but it's not as interesting as most of the others. And in fights? They're two melee characters that have no way of benefiting each other.
Mercurial I don't think this team-up is bottom tier garbage, but the three paragraph character sheet doesn't tell me much about who they are or how they'd interact with Oros. I'd need to see a bit more of them before I could get excited about pairing up.
Rei was cool. Being out with the droves of miseria was cool. Climbing to a perch and watching things unfold was cool. Not being transformed while surrounded by danger was cool. Giving orders with a slightly condescending attitude was cool. Not helping was cool. Calling people new blood was cool. Rei was cool.
Things that were cool were seldom smart.
Hibusa Town may have been a play pen for dark magical girls, but that didn’t mean danger didn’t lurk at every corner. Miseria were dangerous to humans. Street Lamps offered inferior footing when compared to the rooftops, which you didn’t need to be a parkour artist to reach. Just about everything Rei had done tonight would have baffled a real tactician.
But Rei wasn’t commanding people with sound minds. The people under her hand were misfits and delinquents. The lost, the corrupt, and the depraved heeded her orders. Her actions wouldn’t be perceived as foolish. She was a powerful leader, and she could be this reckless because that was just how strong she was. Some even found this bold behavior to be sexy.
The shadows under Rei surged forth, but one wrapped its tendrils around her lamp post. Red ribbons of blood hoisted a porcelain girl out of the darkness and into the sky. Her crimson eyes were just a few inches away from Rei’s. Silver hair came to rest on her blood stained dress. Sanguine red covered her outstretched arms, and formed claws on the tips of her fingers. Her lanky body swayed like a puppet attached to its strings. Rei would not have to wait long to hear her speak.
"Boss Baby!”
Obstructing your leader’s view was dumb. Chatting while a fight was going on was dumb. Being bubbly in a situation like this was dumb. Being oblivious to your surroundings was dumb, wasting people’s time was dumb.
Suki wasn’t always dumb, but she was never cool either.
"Are you cold?” She ran one of her red fingers down the edge of her dress. "I wish my costume came with a jacket. A silk dress over a leotard doesn’t scream comfort on a cold night. Heh!” Suki rambled while eyeing Rei’s clothes. "But at least we can make you more comfortable!” She pulled Rei’s hood up. "Oh yea! You’re looking as snug as a bug in a rug now! But those leggings can’t be too cozy, can they?”
There was no request for permission. Suki’s blood stained hands caressed Rei’s thighs. A grid spread across her face as she pressed her fingers against Rei’s clothes. Undoubtedly, her cursed touch felt pleasant. But Suki pulled back her hands after just a few strokes. She couldn’t turn off her magic, and it was bad form to put a curse on your boss. Without their consent at least.
"Yup! you’re leaking heat out of those pants!” Suki folded her hands behind her back. "I could warm up with a meal, but what if I’m not hungry for monsters today?” She leaned in closer. Rei could feel Suki’s breath on her ear when she whispered. "What I’m really craving will keep us both warm.”
Suki pulled her head back and puckered her lips. But she kept her eyes open. Her pupils bounced up and down in her head, as if gesturing for Rei to close the distance. Or maybe she was simply pursing her lips while waiting for Rei to respond. There was even the possibility that Suki was hoping for a kiss but didn’t want to over commit to it in case Rei didn’t approve of the behavior. No one could say for sure.
@Emeth I think @Lonewolf685 and @Ponn are teamed up, if previous OOC posts are anything to go by. In which case Earthshaker isn't up for grabs anymore.
Luana nodded along as Lonan gave his thoughts. "If the two of you are up for killing it, I have nothing better to do.“ She placed a hand on her hip. "But if you’re against returning to the castle, I don’t think we can use Lif’s cannon. Regardless, I’m glad you’re being so positive about the situation. I think we can kill it too!“ It was hard not to get a little hyped up, especially after the thrill of a near death experience. In some ways, Luana couldn’t wait for it to happen again.
Luana took her spear and snapped it in half. The upper half of her spear turned into a circlet that she wore on her head. Endless eclipse covered her right eye, showing the location of the dragon at all times. Now she was sure they wouldn’t get jumped. She reached for one of her daggers and had what was left of her spear grow around it. While not magical, a bladed weapon was sure to have some use in their next encounter.
"Oh, that’s a good start!“ Luana pointed at Ethelred. "Also, it uses its front claws for fighting, but it only has two legs for walking around. If we cut off one of its feet, at the ankle where it’s shortest, that would further inhibit its movement. It might even make it less balanced when it rolled, or cut off the tail.“ After thinking a bit more. Luana shrugged. "That’ll be up to you guys. We might also have to set up a trap rapidly, so be ready for that. But I can track it and support you with my plants. And right now…“
If the dragon was still on the move, Luana could guide everyone along the path it was beating. But if it was waiting for an ambush, she’d be a bit more cautious with her approach.
Might post today, but count on the weekend. I have some catching up to do.
<Snipped quote by TheWendil> For what it's worth, I'm totally down for Kiyo to be the one Suki tried to seduce before becoming a member of the Detention Club.
Seducing a fellow seducer, the best possible high school debut.
Even if they don't end up on a team together, I'd be okay with this. Might even be fun to write as a flashback between fights/events/etc.
You little shit!
I typically don't trust people with Homestuck avatars, but you seem a'ight.
I'm down for partnering with anyone, personally. But if anyone's particularly emotional, that would fuel Tsubomi better, not that that's a high priority.
Also, I second @Lonewolf685's statement. Fight fight fight IC.
If no one else is interested, I'm interested. In fact, I'm interested even if everyone else is interested.
@Emeth Mmmmhmmm. Kiyo would not be my first choice, if we were going for "team cohesion." Outside of some niche situations, Suki's kit doesn't benefit from Kiyo's ability to survey an area. Though they'd be effective against other magical girls I would think. But this doesn't feel like a hard core PvP RP and I'm not looking for what's "meta" for Suki.
As for teaming up later, It's pretty easy to find a reason for Suki to approach other girls. We can meme then.
• Age: That age where kissing any of the other characters isn’t considered gross.
• Emblem: A gothic heart tattoo located just a few inches under her belly button, right over her intestines.
• Devil Arm: Formerly, Suki’s sweet arm was a set of heart shaped IV bags that she could control with her mind. Now she wears a bleeding hair pin. Her hands, legs, and dress are always soaked in blood, effectively making them magical weapons. She rarely fights with her pin directly, but can form the blood into other things like claws, blades, and tendrils. Effective range is just a bit longer than the length of her arms, while her tendrils can reach a meter or so further. The more wounded she is, the more numerous her attacks become.
• Magic: When Suki was a pure magical girl, her magic was based around love. Now it’s based around lust. Instead of enabling her allies as a nurse, she disables her enemies as a vampire or succubus. Though most just take to calling her a blood witch.
Anything she touches is slowly overcome by a “geas” that makes them charmed by her presence. The geas can be resisted for a time, but if Suki holds on long enough, even the most resilient magical girl will fall to her charms. She also has vitality sapping kisses, and kissing someone on the lips or neck greatly accelerates the geas, provided they have those features. Once she lets go of someone, the geas fades and her charms slowly wear off.
Miseria react strangely to Suki's lust magic. It confuses them rather than charms them, and her kisses can cause a backlash that charges up nearby monsters.
• Background:
Some girls should have never been magical to begin with.
Suki was not born into a stable family. Her father was a detective that was never home. When he was around, her parents used that time to argue with one another. It was no secret that her father wasn’t faithful, but they stayed together. Mr. Oyama didn’t want to split his assets with his wife, and Mrs Oyama couldn’t support herself without his lucrative job. This made Suki an undesirable symbol of their unhappy union. Her mother did the bare minimum she needed to keep Suki alive, and otherwise let her fend for herself. This made Suki a very needy girl.
Her parents failed to provide her with any self worth, so she tried to find validation in others. Her desperate behavior was a red flag to most, except to those that weren’t above using her. She fell in with the wrong crowd and became a delinquent. Her parents would scold her, but at least she was getting their attention. She would dye her hair, get piercings, and get into whatever trouble she could. She smoked her first cigarette when she was 11 and had her first beer when she was 13. But the other delinquents didn’t stick around forever. Most of them wised up and started taking school seriously, leaving Suki alone again. She still liked the negative attention she was getting from her parents, and pressed on alone.
Suki would get a reprieve from her mystery when she was greeted by a mascot. Naturally, she wished to be loved. The mascot already had a few magical girls under its wing, and they treated her with respect. What followed were the best years of her life. She was part of a team and was making a change for good. She saved people, even her friends sometimes. They helped her break her alcohol and nicotine addiction. They played arcade games and had sleepovers in place of causing property damage and petty theft.
But Suki wasn’t going to be a girl forever. She was turning into a woman, and her emotional needs were evolving. It wasn’t enough to be loved by a group of friends. They all had boyfriends (or girlfriends) and Suki didn’t want to be left out. She wanted to feel romantic love. The kind of love Suki had never known. She had seen how cruel the real world could be, and knew she had to pick someone from her group.
Suki set her eyes on Lada. She was a foreign transfer student, and a relatively new addition to their group of magical girls. She was kind, confident, and easy on the eyes. A real foreign beauty. When everyone talked about relationships, Lada was silent. Suki talked to the other magical girls and they were all pretty sure she was still available. Suki set out to have Lada join her on a surprise date. She was going to take Lada to a concert and then return to their hangout to ask about their relationship. She spent months saving her money for those tickets. Her other fellow magical girls were in on it, but she insisted on getting the money for the tickets herself.
Lada was surprised that Suki wanted to go to the concert, but it wasn’t hard to convince her to come along. They had a great time, and it seemed like it was all going well. But when Suki asked Lada about being her girlfriend, Lada laughed. She swiftly apologized, then informed Suki she wasn’t into girls. That was devastating on its own, but what was worse was that this all happened in front of her friends, who were hiding around the hangout. Once Lada left for the night, they all came out to cheer her up. But as kind as their words were, they couldn’t cease their snickering. She was just a joke to them.
They had never really been friends..
The following day she relapsed into her old habits as she let her despair fester. It only took a day for her dark emotions to corrupt her, and Nurse Joy became a blood witch: someone that didn’t need to receive love. She could make people love her. With Suki’s new powers, she immediately conspired to get that kiss Lada had denied her. It didn’t take a lot of stalking to find out where she was and jump her. Suki wasn’t good at stealth though, and the ensuing fight was messy. But in the end, Suki got what she wanted.
It didn’t take long for her friends to find out what happened. Suki fled to Hibusa Town where she suspected she would never be discovered, and joined the delinquent club after trying to seduce one of their members.
• Sample Post:
It felt like everything that happened in Suki’s life led up to this moment.
Lada’s room was a mess, but that was bound to happen when two magical girls fought in a small space. The bed had been overturned, the closet doors laid on the floor, and Lada’s dressers were reduced to wood and fabric, scattered to the four winds. In the center of the room sat the victor with their prize.
Lada’s sword had cut Suki deep. The wound ran from the center of her chest down to her right hip. It was a grievous wound, and she wouldn’t had survived it if she wasn’t a magical girl. Lada, comparatively, had no wounds to speak of. But Suki didn’t need to wound her prey to win a fight. She was sitting on Lada’s stomach, with a pair of tendrils reaching out of her wound to pin the girl’s arms over her head. Lada could kick her legs, twist her arms, but she wasn’t getting free. Suki’s hands closed around her face.
”That was a nice fight!” Suki’s voice was sickeningly sweet, but her body lacked any kind of malice. She used her thumbs to follow the curvature of Lada’s cheek bones, then the bridge of her nose. She dragged her index finger down the center of her face, riding over her lips. ”Such beautiful contours, just like the wound you gave me!”
”Don’t.” Was all Lada could manage. Her breathing was becoming ragged. The geas was taking its toll on her mind, but she resisted. That wouldn’t last for long.
”Oh Lada! I couldn’t bring myself to hurt something so pretty! But we’re wasting time, and the anticipation is killing us.” Suki giggled. ”I know your first time is a little scary, but it’s my first time too! So just relax and let it happen.”
Suki closed her eyes and closed the breach between their faces. Lada’s eyes went wide, but if she could have escaped she would have done so already. She opened her mouth to make one last plea, but Suki plunged her tongue inside. Her eyes dilated and her back arched, only for Lada’s eyes to flutter shut. Her entire body relaxed as Suki probed every inch of her mouth. The tendrils released her arms, and she wrapped them around Suki.
Suki pulled her head back with a gasp. ”Oh sweetheart, that was magical!” She wiggled on top of Lada’s stomach. ”Your skin makes me want to cry! You glow like a goddess! You taste like a strawberry! Well, maybe a little more subdued than a strawberry, but-” Suki kissed Lada’s cheek. ”See? You shouldn’t have said no! We could have been having all this fun yesterday!”
”I-” Suki wouldn’t stop laying kisses along Lada’s neck and shoulder. ”I’m sorry, I didn’t, know it, would feel like, this.” Her eyes were half closed. ”But, I’m glad, you-”
Suki placed her finger over Lada’s lips. ”I forgive you. The important part is you came around!” Suki leaned in to give Lada one more kiss, only to notice she fell unconscious in her arms. ”What? We didn’t even get to the spicy part yet!”
But their alone time would be interrupted. The other five members of Suki’s magical girl team piled into the room. They already had their weapons drawn and were ready to fight.
Suki shrugged. ”Yea, she decided to take a nap. I think-”
Penny, the leader of the unit, closed the distance with a swift punch. Powerful enough on its own, more so when you considered the cyborg girl’s fist was powered by its own afterburner. Suki careened into the adjacent wall, and Penny caught Lada in her arms.
”She’s secure!”
Suki didn’t even have time to stand back up before the other four girls stood in front of them. She placed her hand on the window sill to stabilize herself. ”Good evening!”
Penny stepped between the other magical girls and looked at Suki. ”You’ve got ten seconds to tell us what you did to her.”
”Well.” Suki struggled to stand upright. ”I kissed her? A lot? But it kind of tuckered her out? I’m a little new to these powers, so I might have gone overboard. I think she’ll be fine with some rest!” The newly arrived wouldn't notice it, but Suki's wound from earlier had completely healed.
”Not what I meant, but I’m glad that’s the case.” Penny raised her fist and leveled it with Suki’s head. ”Answer this next question very carefully. Were you involved with Nurse Joy’s disappearance?”
Suki tapped her chin. ”Only that we’re the same person.”
Penny’s body tensed up as her allies gave each other confused glances. ”You’re her? Prove it!”
”Let’s see…” Suki looked over her former team. ”Lily’s favorite animal is a wolf, and she still sleeps with stuffed animals. Her boyfriend Alexander got her a plush wolf about a month ago and she wouldn’t shut up about it. Maura likes flowers, but is too shy to tell anyone because she thinks it will ruin her tough girl persona. Samantha wet the bed about a week ago, but she swore me to secrecy. Sorry girl, you understand right? Then there’s-”
”Why?” Penny’s fist was shaking. ”Why did you do this to yourself?”
”I did this?” The corners of Suki’s lips twitched. ”The only reason why I signed up to this outfit was so that I could be around people who loved me. Come on, Penny! You were my friends! I healed you, I helped you out, we did so much stuff together! don’t expect you to get it. Everyone loves you, but me? I can’t get my parents to look at me unless I do something bad. I took Lada to see a concert and the first thing she does is blow me off when we get back. You all laughed at me. A-and I get it, it was sort of funny!” She sniffed, but shed no tears. ”But you’re no different than my parents. You ignore everything I tried to do for you, but the screw ups? The mistakes? the bad behavior? Ohhhh, that’s gotta get corrected right quick! No one’s gunna make you look bad!”
Penny pursed her lips. ”I see.” She closed her eyes. ”Nurse Joy is dead.” When her eyes opened, they were glowing neon blue, and every afterburner on her body fired up. ”The least I can do is avenge her.”
”Oh, uh...” Suki touched the tips of her fingers together. ”Can I have a do over or-”
The speed in which Penny moved could be compared to teleportation. Her metal frame slammed into Suki with enough force to launch her out the window. The shattered glass haloed the blood witch’s form as she was thrown into the darkness. They never found her body, but she was never seen in town again.

And then there's that london magical girl RP, and that dark magical girl RP. I think I'm done joining magical girl RPs for a while.

Back in the day, the only two genres were comedy and drama. The only difference was that in a comedy, the protagonist is better off at the end, and a drama is the opposite.
